Made these a while back! They’re silly and simple, but I love making them. I call them “sparkleboxes,” but really it’s more appropriate to call them “character boxes.” All accompanying minifigs are custom and made by me, as well.

These are for Caiden Voros, Thomakos Drake (perhaps better known as Tom Drake), and Djedar Rath

Lots of my characters have duality in some form, so these boxes are fun to play around with for that reason. All characters are from my universe of Wulfgard. Be sure to follow @wulfgard-fantasy for updates on that; we try to update a lot! And I’ve got new books coming out soon, especially about Djedar in The Curse of Ankhu and Tom Drake in the revised edition of Knightfall.

New Wulfgard LEGO ‘figs!

Lots of new Wulfgard LEGO minifigures, these designed by Mav (Maegan, Maverick-Werewolf)! In this set: Caiden and Gwen (with improved decals), Chrisanthos the werewolf mage in wolf-man form, Djedar Rath the mysterious channeler, and Theron Brennus, veteran Venator.

3 Are they open about their relationship? How do they feel about public displays of affection?

Sadja is. Sadja is a cuddle bug through and through. She’s dangle off Caiden’s arm, bump her ass against his crotch at the most opportune of moments, or just crawl all over him in public at any time she pleases. She has absolutely no shame, and that translates into her happily showing her affection day in and out. That doesn’t mean Caiden doesn’t like to cuddle (he might not admit to it though). He certainly doesn’t mind that Sadja hates vehemently hates the cold and he’s often used as for shelter.

4 First impression of each other? Was it love at first sight?

Hahaha- no. Sadja’s first impression of him was Oh dear Gods, he is going to eat me, later followed by He is very tall, I’d like to climb that, but generally, she thought he’s no fun. Dangerous, yes. That’s what attracted her to him, the knowledge that he could, quite literally, tear her throat out if she wasn’t careful. Sadja is never careful, by the way. 

Caiden, from the get-go, thought of the little thief as bite-sized and annoying and does she ever shut up? And what is it that makes the wolf enjoy her scent so much? 

7 What annoys them the most about their partner? Would they change it if they could?

Sadja wouldn’t change a thing about Caiden, even (and maybe especially) that one thing that he wishes to change about himself: Lift his curse. 

Does Caiden want to change something about her? I don’t know, honestly. Her sticky fingers, probably. The rush she gets from putting herself in danger and her absolute fascination with heights? Her inability to not scratch any itch she might have? Her constant flirting with everyone and everything? She could also use a moral compass.

Eh. Yeah, Sadja is a handful. But Caiden has big hands. He can deal with it.

8 What do they like best about their partner?

Don’t tell Caiden, but Sadja loves that he’s dangerous. He might know already, and he might not like that she likes it. She also likes his large hands. A lot.

For his part, he’s fond of more than just the food she cooks for him, tirelessly. He loves how stubborn she is and how unfailingly blunt she can be, and how she always had more room in her heart for another creature. 

33 What kind of presents do they get each other? Do they only do it on special occasions?

I don’t think Sadja has gotten Caiden a present, ever? Which is odd, because she happily finds things for the Duckling or any of her other friends, but she yet has to make something or get something for Caiden.

What she’s done is carve nicknames into his gear (like that one time she edged Snoros into one), make sure she’s always got food in her pack for him, and... well... be his?

Caiden though? He has a weakness for her saying I want one around animals, and he’ll spend uncountable hours fashioning her a bow or a staff- or building her a damn house. 

35 Do they bring out the best in each other, or the worst? Do they have a fatal flaw?

Generally speaking, they bring out the best in each other. Caiden keeps her somewhat honest, and she has a way with the wolf that brings him a measure of peace. 

Still. Caiden, ah- because of Caiden, Sadja did something very particular that he will never truly be at peace with. So maybe, in a way, their fatal flaw is just how far they’d go for each other, damn be everyone, and everything, else. 

42 Do they let each other get away with things that would normally bother them? 

Since Sadja’s moral compass only really works as long as Caiden is around, she doesn’t much get bothered by what he does or doesn’t do.

And Caiden being her moral compass should answer that question on what he lets her get away with. 

Though, honestly? She is still waiting for the day he snaps as she keeps pushing her luck with flirting with everyone and everything.

NEW BOOK - Tales of Wulfgard, Volume I

Newly revised for 2023, Tales of Wulfgard: Volume I is a collection of short stories. All have been edited, revised, and expanded, and one of my stories - “Hunted” - has been completely rewritten and greatly expanded to better accompany another of my Wulfgard story collections, The Hunt Never Ends.

For werewolf fans, this book includes two stories focusing on a werewolf/werewolves/lycanthropy and my own fictional takes thereon! Be sure to check it out!

"Wake Not the Sleeping Bull" - Jörgen's Tale - by Justin -- Jörgen the Lone Bull is a proud son of Northrim, despite being an orphan. He wants nothing more than to protect his home from conquest by the ever-expanding Achaean Empire. After fighting skirmishes against them for years as an outlaw, he finally joins a Northern army willing to take the fight to the Imperials directly. But Jörgen finds that real war is not quite as glorious as he had hoped, and he may never be able to go home the same man he was before.

Site redesign + lots of new content!

Hi, all! I've got some exciting news - I've finally redesigned my personal website to be modern and fancy, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

Here are the details and more on some of the new content you'll find:

First up, it's much easier to find my books now! In addition to the main Books page where you'll be able to find all my books as I ramp up my publishing schedule, you can find more robust and detailed sections specifically on my Fiction, Nonfiction, and also Upcoming Books on their own separate pages. Be sure to take a look at all of them!

Please note, too, that all books now have readable previews! Some also come with illustrations, as seen in the books themselves.

A new preview for The Curse of Ankhu, Book I is coming very, very soon, as we near its cover reveal and release date. Stay tuned!

Please note that the pages for Articles, Werewolf Facts, etc. are still in their previous state. Don't worry, they're still there! They are readable and accessible, but they aren't the most intuitive to navigate among. This is something I plan to work on in the future!

You'll also find a little bit of new stuff on my About Me page (along with a picture I plan to update sometime soon). Also check out the brand new detailed page about my Patreon, how it works, and all the awesome rewards you can get - there are several new rewards as of very recently!

And last but certainly not least, my pride and joy of my website redesign - well, other than the fancy book previews - which is... the character pages!

There's an overview page over at Characters with some nice lists and a few highlighted character pages in the drop-down menu: Thomakos Drake, Kye Vakurseth, Magnhild, Caiden Voros, and Djedar Rath.

You'll find lots of fun info about each character on their page, along with some artwork!

More character pages will come with time, so keep an eye out for updates about those!

Not all areas of the new site are fully built yet, as I do plan to add sections about some of my other work, such as my LEGO customization. But those will come in future updates.

Soldier. Legionnaire. Monster hunter. Caiden “Caid” (“KAY-den”, “KAYD”) Voros (VOR-ose) has been a lot of things, but hunting monsters as a member of the ancient order called the Venatori has let him truly discover the depths of darkness that dwell in everything, man or monster. Born a commoner and trained in the art of war from the moment he could hold a sword, Caiden has lived a long and hard life that has only hardened his steely personality and stoic nature… and only deepened the strange emptiness inside him that he cannot seem to fill.

Scars inside and out, Caiden does his job with calculated and seemingly cold precision - despite the depths of emotion hidden away inside. Okay this is gonna be kinda silly, it's my first time and I'm a goof so here we go. First, to Caiden... I'd like to ask #53! And to Tom, I'd like to ask #38

No questions are silly! Well, maybe a few, but the silly ones are often the most fun.

For Caiden - 53. If they could only eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would it be?

Wow, that’s quite a question! Especially for Caiden...

He would definitely want booze. Doesn’t even really care what kind, as long as it’s strong - and preferably not wine. Whiskey is his favorite, but ale is acceptable.

As for food... Caiden’s not a rich or complicated guy. He’s never even really had very good food. If he was given a chance to pick, he would just go with steak and probably some bread. He baked plenty of his own bread on the road when he was in the Legion. Steak would be like a dream to him, though.

Bad answer: souls. Yes, he can eat souls. It’s not nice, and he doesn’t always even mean to, but... it kind of happens sometimes. He wants to eat them, he just knows he shouldn’t. When he eats them, they aren’t destroyed, but being trapped inside him isn’t unlike being inside a soulstone - and only the most unique, most powerful souls could possibly even be aware enough of their situation to do anything like “speak” with him.

At any rate, yes, he does eat souls, and yes, it’s not nice. And yes, he wants to, but he doesn’t want to.

For Tom - 38. If they hear something go bump in the night, do they get out of bed to check it out or do they stay put?

Tom is the thing that goes bump in the night! Both because he is bumping in the night - yes, like that - and because of the werewolf thing.

At any rate, if he heard anything, he would absolutely jump out of bed to go look. He wouldn’t even want to be in bed in the first place, unless, ah... someone was in there with him. Tom isn’t a big fan of sleeping, nine times out of ten.

51. What is their favorite thing about themselves?

Tom

Tom loves a lot of things about himself, overall, and it's pretty obvious. No, not everything, but most things. Sure, he has a veneer of overconfidence all the time, but in reality he isn't always as cocksure as he likes to pretend. Regardless, he's pretty fond of himself. He doesn't actually think he's perfect, but he would tell you he is and he believes he has enough points toward perfection to make the statement sound convincing coming from him.

But his favorite feature? His actual features. His looks. Tom is extremely attractive - and he knows it. He's hotter than the fires of Hades. It gives him the exact kind of confidence boost most people don't really want a guy like him to have. Because hey, he knows that - sooner or later - he can charm almost anyone to his side... and the looks give that a huge boost.

Sure would be a shame if something messed them up...

Caiden

This one is a lot harder to answer. Tom is the kind of guy who could give a list of things he loves about himself. Caiden? Not so much. He probably wouldn't even answer. He might shrug. If anything, he would change the subject.

But in reality, his aspect he's proudest of is his discipline. His sanity, in a manner of speaking. He's never broken, even under the weight of his former duties as a legionnaire, under his dishonorable discharge and public punishment for disobeying orders, under his life as a Venator, under the traumas he has endured - and under the weight of his abilities, powers that drive most people like him insane.

True, his disciplined is tainted by some addictions - drinking, in particular. Regardless, he has a will of steel, and he knows it. Life has thrown so much at him, and he still hasn't broken.

That's certainly his favorite aspect of himself. We'll see if it lasts.
