Discover the Surprising Uses and Health Benefits of Calcium Gluconate
<h2>The Many Uses of Calcium Gluconate</h2> <p>Calcium is an essential mineral for human health. It forms our strong bones and teeth, and helps nerves and muscles work properly. Too little calcium can lead to problems like rashes, tremors or even fractures.</p> <p>Calcium gluconate is a calcium supplement that does more than just add calcium to our diets. When taken as a supplement, it easily allows calcium to enter our bodies from food. This helps treat and prevent health issues caused by calcium deficiency.</p> <h3>Treating Deficiency & Poisoning</h3> <p>By boosting calcium levels, calcium gluconate treats conditions like rickets and osteomalacia. These develop when the body doesn't have enough calcium to stay healthy. It can also treat magnesium poisoning from metals like magnesium.</p> <h3>What is Calcium Gluconate?</h3> <p>Calcium gluconate is a white powder that dissolves in hot water but not alcohol. It comes as a tablet, liquid or injection. Contact with eyes or skin should be avoided. Chemically, it's made from calcium carbonate and gluconic acid.</p> <h3>An Unexpected Use - Making Tofu Pudding!</h3> <p>Here's a fun fact - calcium gluconate is also used to make tofu pudding, also known as soy pudding. When added to soy milk, its properties help the milk coagulate into a soft, wobbly dessert. Though it's a supplement, small amounts are approved by health authorities as a food additive for this purpose.</p> <p>So next time you enjoy silky tofu pudding, you'll know the secret ingredient is actually a calcium supplement! Calcium gluconate has many surprising uses beyond just improving our health. Its versatility makes it a very handy substance indeed.</p>

Simplified Summary :
When it comes to haircare, it truly does depend on each persons hair, no product is one fits all. If you like a product, and your scalp feels clean while your ends feel moisturized, continue use.
Healthy hair habits take priority over products. Keeping your scalp clean is number one, to do so depends on how often you wash. There is no right amount, it is okay to wash daily or weekly. If washing daily, use a shampoo that is lower in surfactants, aim for ones that say “okay for daily use”. If washing once a week, or twice, use one with higher surfactants (clarifying shampoo). If at any point your hair feels as if there is product buildup or the scalp is itchy use clarifying shampoo. number two is to condition frequently, you can condition before or after shampooing. It is helpful to pre-oil your hair 30 minutes prior to showering with coconut oil, coconut oil is the only oil proven to effectively enter the hair cuticle and can help protect against water damage. if you are going days without shampooing, spraying it with conditioning spray or oil on the shafts only is helpful. number three is small habits, dry your hair with a microfiber towel. keep shampoo only on the scalp and conditioner on the ends. squeeze out any excess water out prior to applying conditioner and let it sit for at least 2 minutes, longer if you can. use gentle hair ties and claw clips. put your hair in a protective style before bed. eat properly, get enough rest, and make sure you are hitting protein goals for biotin production. never brush your hair while it’s wet, and don’t over brush. use a leave in conditioner after washing, and avoid heat styling.
ingredients : shampoos and conditioners have a team of hair chemists formulating them carefully, so most haircare products are safe to use, but some are better based on added ingredients. ingredients like proteins, peptides, keratin, butters, oils, silicones, citric acid, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, and salicylic acid can improve hair. when choosing hair products, aim for ones that have these ingredients higher on the ingredient list
despite fear of silicones and sulfates, they are recommended by dermatologists and trichologists. the only ingredient you should avoid is formaldehyde. formaldehyde has different names, so avoid at all cost anything that says formaldehyde, methylene glycol, formalin, formic aldehyde, paraform, formol, formalin (methanol-free), FYDE, formalith, methanal, methyl aldehyde, methylene oxide, tetraoxymethalene, oxomethane, and oxymethylene. these are mainly found in special treatments and heat products, legally these can be called “formaldehyde free” if using it in a different form. (the ones listed above that are not verbatim “formaldehyde”)
affirmations
i love taking care of my hair, it’s so soft and fluffy. it never tangles and always is super shiny. it never breaks, my split ends always repair immediately. it grows so fast, inches every week. my hair smells so good and feels so bouncy ૮꒰ྀི⸝⸝> . <⸝⸝꒱ྀིა

Had a pt today who had hyperkalemia. She is a diabetic and was getting heparin for DVT prophylaxis, which can cause type 4 renal tubular acidosis. So her heparin was stopped.
Hyperkalemia that causes EKG changes should be treated with calcium gluconate (or calcium chloride), insulin, Kayexalate. Calcium chloride has more elemental calcium than calcium gluconate, so you would give less calcium chloride if you gave that instead of calcium gluconate. The dose of calcium chloride is 1 gram. The dose of calcium gluconate is 2 to 3 grams. The calcium is simply cardioprotective. Insulin just temporarily shifts potassium into the cells. Dialysis emergently removes potassium from the body. Kayexalate gets rid of potassium in the stool, but can also cause intestinal necrosis (the premixed formulation). I didn't know that! Lokelma and Patiromer (Veltassa®) can be used to get rid of potassium in the stool, and they don't cause intestinal necrosis! We don't have Lokelma or Veltassa at my hospital. Lokelma is really expensive.
You should also correct acidosis in pts who have hyperkalemia by giving them bicarbonate.
I don't remember anything about renal tubular acidosis, but risk factors for type 4 RTA: type 2 diabetes, overweight, older. It's a hyporenin, hypoaldosterone state.

We got a postpartum eclampsia patient in the other day. First one I've seen in person; poor girl! They do very well with infusions of calcium gluconate, careful monitoring, and dietary intervention.
This patient was on a raw diet that reportedly included goat's milk and bones, which I'm sure they thought was adequate calcium supplementation, but it clearly wasn't. Although it's theoretically also possible that they were feeding too much calcium; it's one of many substances where if you get too much of it on a regular basis, the system that maintains homeostasis downregulates, so then if there's suddenly a major physiologic need for calcium (like lactation) that exceeds what's in your diet, your body can't keep up.
Anyway, veterinary nutritionists worked out a formula that keeps pregnant and nursing bitches healthy ages ago, and you can buy many different versions of it in shelf-stable bags and cans. You don't have to reinvent the wheel here.

the reason why this is interesting is because most elements are really not that bad compared to their compounds. elemental mercury is ok. organomercury compounds will fucking kill you with tiny exposures. elemental fluorine is pretty bad, but you can counteract it with calcium gluconate somewhat. difluorine peroxide (known by the evocative name of FOOF) will react violently with anything down to the negative hundreds of degrees celsius.
beryllium just fucking hates you personally

Hiya, love! ⭐ You know how obsessed I am with the way you write Carmy (they should hire you as an exclusive writer for Carmy on the show because I'm convinced everything you write about him is ripped from the cut scenes in the script), so I'd love to know everything about New Person, Same Old Mistakes, or anything you'd like to share!! 🤩
Ahhhhh Lev, you’re an absolute darling! Honestly my experience in the food industry counts for more than anything else.
I picked the bit about the getting the plum consommé to the consistency of haribo gummies from the show, in the second chap cuz we did something really similar in pastry school but with pectin.
And Carmy describing his favourite dish to cook in the first chap (the celeriac yolk) again was based on something I’ve made in past but with beetroot.
And the bit with MC splitting the Bearnaise comes from a particularly triggering memory from culinary school. They used to make us whisk that shit by hand and if you split the emulsion, you’d double the yolks in the recipe as punishment. You start with 2 yolks. I ended up having to make a batch with 16 🙃.

re: Your tags on my post about piranha solution. That acid is probably Hydrouflouric Acid if the paste in question is calcium gluconate. Do not touch it if you do not need it.
So I waited to answer this until I could check, and it is indeed hydrofluoric acid!
I also want to clear up a few things because I was fairly flippant in my tags.
I currently work in a small lab (under a much larger company) developing highly niche ceramic coatings. I mostly do measurement, modeling, and analysis. However, since the emphasis is on SMALL lab, I also help with specimen fabrication and prep, and contribute in a small way to formulation (namely on the specific components that most impact the properties I'm assessing).
We do take lab safety extremely seriously. I built this lab (and then left the team for a number of years, returning only a few months ago), and worked with our health and safety team to write most of the original safety procedures. I am deeply familiar with all the safety risks of the materials we routinely use in our work. Those materials do NOT include hydrofluoric acid. I have some educated guesses on why the former employee purchased it, but that's all they are--guesses. It doesn't belong here and has no place in our work, so we're working on disposing of it through proper channels in our workplace, and storing it properly in the meantime.
As mentioned, I'm not a chemist and I would never work with anything I didn't fully understand. That's why when I found it I immediately brought in my chemist co-worker. :)

Most dictionaries define an ampule (amp, ampoule) as “a hermetically sealed vial made of glass or plastic that contains a sterile medicinal solution or a powder that is usually made into a solution for subcutaneous, intramuscular, or intravenous injection.”
The ampule is not a standardized unit for measuring mass, volume, or any quantity. Instead, an ampule refers to a single dose of medication pre-packaged in an injectable glass or plastic container.
For example,
one ampule of bicarbonate is 50 meq (4.2 grams) in 50 mL, and
one ampule of D50 is 25 grams dextrose in 50 mL.
one ampule of calcium gluconate is 1000 mg or 1 gram of calcium gluconate (10 ml of 10% calcium gluconate solution).
