and after all this pain, all this hurt, all this grief I still haven't lost the light in my heart. Not at all- it shines brighter than it ever did, stronger than ever before. A Story about Cancer Full Moon

This happened to me the last Cancer Full moon of 2020, I believe it was in December or January. 

I read and researched a lot about this moon, so I knew it would hit me hard with the mother feelings. I lost my mother when I was 3 years old, so my grandma took care of me all my life, my dad is a nice guy, but he was just not ready to handle both my mother dying and taking care of me as well. And then when I was 22 my grandmother die. So, obviously, I have some abandonment and trust issues to work over. 

With the help of Hecate, beloved Dark Mother, I was really able to make a breakthrough those abandonment issues, that very Cancer moon. Ever since my grandma died, I have felt her occasionally, sometimes in my dreams or others in my waking life. But never my mother. Probably because I was too young and I don’t remember her, but I just never have.  That full moon, while meditating, the candles I had lit started visibly changing flame size and I very clearly felt my grandmother with me. She led my mother to me that night and I felt her embrace me, tightly as if she had been with me in the room. I wept tears I never knew I still had in me for my mother, and for myself, the mother I never got a chance to meet. I will always wonder, how would my life be different if only my mother had lived? That night I dreamt about my grandmother and my mother. We simply spent time together, just talking. My mother beamed at me. She was so proud of the person I have become, even without her, that I am so strong, so much like her.  I feel thankful, Hecate Enodia, for guiding me towards remembering my mother and my grandmother are always with me. They are here with me, they do protect me, I need only close my eyes to feel their embrace around me once more.

 I still have longs ways to go, in terms of healing myself and being my best person, but that day will stay with me until the day I die. The day I can rejoin my mother and grandmother, wherever they may be.

Full Moon in Cancer! Last full moon of 2020! • This is heavy, feminine, all-emcompassing emotional energy. Rather than running from it, embrace it. Think of it as a cleansing and flushing out rather than something to drown in. • We started this year with a cancer full moon (Jan 10th) and are closing it out with one as well. The focus is on home and family and it’s a fitting end for 2020, which was a 4ofhearts year, which focused on (you guessed it) home and family. • Everything in life is cyclical. At the risk of sounding like a year-end recap sitcom episode, use this time to think about what we learned during this year. It was difficult for everyone and try not to beat yourself up about not accomplishing the things you thought you should have, or not having been able to do everything you wanted to. Rather, take into account the fact that everyone was essentially stuck at home with limited options. Take into account that you made it this far and are absolutely strong enough and capable enough to go further. • This is a time to review and release. Think about your home and work dynamics. What needs to be released? What can be changed? What serves you? This is a gentle ending to the bumpy ride that was 2020. Use this time to reflect on the coming year and the changes it will bring. This full moon aspects Chiron (commonly referred to as the “wounded healer”) so don’t be bitter! Don’t drown in nostalgia! Let that shit go and remind yourself that you got this! You made it this far and you can and will make it next year. Remember, we are going into 2021 collectively stronger and smarter. This year was all about shedding and lessons learned.
