hear me out, but i dont think alt!calliope is that much concerned about canonicity of the story all that much. theres some deeper motive going on here

when john defeats lord english (and gets promptly unsubscribed from life, since his narrative purpose is completed) and davepeta hurls him into the black hole, on the other side in candyverse alt!calliope waits for him to appear and, when he does, devours him to gain the power-up needed to escape the timeline and goes on a hunt for ult dirk to stop him from starting another sburb session

and this is where lord english storyline should be put to rest, but its not as simple as that. this dudes like a cockroach, you just cant get rid of him, he just doesnt disappear, hes always there no matter what, looming over the narrative. and, now thats he was absorbed into alt!calliope, whats left of him? his masterpiece self now residing inside ult dirk

and dirk always had a close connection to caliborn - cal liked dirk the most from all the alpha kids, chatting with him regularly, hal - dirks splinter - became a part of cal and also doc scratch, who was also the host that brough lord english into the universe after beta kids created the green sun (which he also manipulated them into)

basically what im trying to say, dirk wanting to start another sburb session isnt really about maintaining their connection to canon, but it also is about it. caliborn lords over the alpha timeline, and is intrinsically tied to the canon. hes always there, hes already there, and he will always come back. and dirk is narratively tied to the one guy that was responsible with brining him into the story. excellent host, you might say

the point of starting another session is ultimately to bring caliborn back to life, and this is the goal of ult dirk, as the one whos carrying the last splinter of his soul. and thats why alt!calliope is so focused on stopping him. its all about the powerstruggle between the two cherubs, once again

(would also like to point out that rose got fooled twice into bringing lord english into the narrative - once through doc scratch manipulating her into believing deploying the tumor would destroy the green sun, and now through dirk manipulating her into believing starting another session will stop the timeline from deteriorating. girl cannot catch a break jesus)

tldr ult dirk is acting as another doc scratch, and the goal is to revive lord english

Although Vriska will probably live after stepping into the plot point, I still think there could be a possible narrative reasoning for killing Vriska off.

Vriska is the thief of light. One who steals knowledge and luck, using these attributes for their own benefit.

Naturally, thieves are aggressive and independent and usually desire control and wealth. Light players often like to search for or create new knowledge to enhance their intelligence as a means to flex control over the narrative. In the case of passive classes (like Rose making the GameFAQ or Aranea’s bookkeeping on her friends and leprechaun romance) they also would try to subvert fate using knowledge. Rose destroyed gates, Aranea steals the ring of life. Rose breaks the narrative of Sburb’s game mechanics, and Aranea trues to break the narrative of the alpha timeline.

Active light players, well, Vriska, obfuscate knowledge, like when Vriska kept Kanaya out of the loop on her attempt to swoon Tavros.

How does this all connect?

Well, Vriska, the light player, exerts control and authority wherever she goes as a thief, and uses knowledge and luck as her tactic to exert narrative power. As an active light player, she can obfuscate and hide knowledge from outside observers, acting as an extra coat of camouflage for the candyverse.

Interestingly enough, by absorbing her into the plot point, all the relevance, luck, and knowledge she stole is dissipated into the fabric of the Candyverse, and since she is a character who is always relevant, the candyverse becomes relevant by absorbing Vriska’s essence.

That would be an interesting idea. Part of me though is a bit skeptic because past events in the series also shown that Light Players is not actually about relevance. See how Rose fall into alcoholism and does absolutely nothing after Act 6. She's even a nobody by Post Retcon. Aranea disappears after her villain arc moment and nobody mentions her again. Vriska lost the hero title when it was TAVROS the one who rallied all the ghosts to fight against Lord English. And don't even say she would be the one to take down LE as well. Because by Epilogues, it is shown she couldn't beat him. It was DAVEPETASPRITE who would sacrifice itself to beat it and NOBODY else would know it was them. There's a chance that it could be about this to Vriska. That though she is part of the mission, bitch won't actually get the cool epic moments she desires or wants. It would be other characters who get it or worse case scenario, happenstance occurs without her influence. Though that's just my thoughts because of how Andrew Hussie and WhatPumpkin had treated the aspect within the narrative. Just like they did with John as a Breath Player. Breath was never about freedom and the writers mock us of thinking us. Maybe it will be different for James Roach and HICU since they want to be in at least good graces with the fandom. James Roach too was even the one who suggested the classpect book to Hussie and has plans to explain more about the classes in HSBC despite the short summary. But I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

I'm sick of Vriska saying she will do shit to become a hero and nothing comes of it. Vriska created Bec Noir, forgets about him for Lord English. Even when focusing on LE, it was Tavros who made the ghost army in the first place. And by Epilogues, she wouldn't be the one to kill him, it was a fused kernelsprite. What will the bitch actually do this time that will have people, both in narrative and audiences, kneel to her for doing an action to show she is a hero despite being an awful person? Call me a jaded bitch. Cause why did they have to drag us along seeing how shit and worse things have gotten along the way that would lead up to the cool moment? Especially one not many worked for? Even if it's to soon disclose all the horrible mistakes that Hussie and WP did, it would have been better to just do it so early in the beginning when they took control of this dubious canon series. There's no need to give one single damn respect to Hussie or certain members of WhatPumpkin for what they had laid out in Homestuck 2. It's better to wipe it out sooner than to continue on building on top of the crap in the first place.

Because I'm a little shit, I made it so that in my Jekyll and Hyde adaptation Hyde looks Like That because that's what Jekyll expects pure evil to look like. He's an upper class white man in the 1880s, and he studies psychology; of course he has the belief, even if subconscious, that moral deviance expresses itself through physical deformity (as Arata puts it).

The potion's effect, in my AU, is to partially shut down the prefrontal cortex and hyperestimulate the lymbic system. In a sense it is taking your brain on a trip down evolution lane, but mostly it is stripping you of inhibitions and, consequently, of most redeeming qualities. That's all it does- but of course, since my AU is set in a universe in which the "rules" of fiction work in real life, a great psychological change comes with a physical change. And precisely because Jekyll identifies evil with certain characteristics (Lombroso makes a very vivid description of the criminal-as-prehistoric-man), he takes on them. It's a matter of expectations.

ok so !! >:3 my main ocverse i just tend to call candyverse ( bc the . main character is named candy JHSDGHFD ) and takes place in a universe which is . functionally just a bunch of sims worlds for the god of it JGDHFJSF the main character- candy (he/they/she)- was chosen By the god of the universe (who currently doesnt have a name. so i just call her cringe god <3) to explore her older abandoned worlds and see if anything is salvageable/worth recreating!

currently been trying to work out more of the lore and so the characters ive been rotating most in my brain from it are the most recent ones i made .. for some context the universe of candyverse functions like a game and as such is made of code , and an organization spread across multiple worlds ( the ontological society of change / osc for short ) is attempting to study the structure Of the world ( for some of them to just better understand , for others bc they want to someday figure out how to control it for themselves )

agnieszka (she/xe) + dmitriy (dima for short, he/they) are two scientists part of osc !! agnieszka is a weird as fuck eccentric mad scientist genius who wants to learn more about the universe so she can just. do weird experiments LMAO xe also does a lot of her own projects- most prominently attempting to create organic life from scratch. rn xes managed to make a weird little blob creature named poppy!!

dima is her research partner + general lab assistant and is functionally just the evil royal advisor trope but as a scientist JSDHJF hes on the side of osc that wants to gain full control over the multiverse but knows he doesnt have the scientific skills to do it on his own, so hes constantly trying to get agnieszka to use her skills for the sake of evil. but its just unstoppable force vs immovable object in that case LMAO

the two of them are very deeply divorced but in totally different ways. dima is still fully in love w agnieszka but is convinced theyd never work and need to set aside their feelings for the sake of their purpose vs agnieszka most definitely threw a divorce party and found it fun but would 100% marry dima again if they asked xe just does not see it as very serious
