Hi! Missed you Femme!!
Tips on how to be sexy but modest? I want to update my wardrobe with basics/have a capsule wardrobe but I’m not sure how to balance being sexy with being classy. I love covering up, but I’m young and I want to also show off my body (but I want to be comfortable doing so!)
Thank you! Xx
Hi love!! Missed you too <3
I think the first thing to get out of the way here is to realize that sexy and classy more often work together versus opposing each other. Dressing with confidence is sexy in my opinion :)
Anyway, I do understand your concern about dressing in a way that feels too revealing to feel comfortable and respected by others around you. So, here are some of my tips:
Choose one or two parts of the body to show off and cover top the rest. For example: wear a mini skirt or shorter shorts with at least 2 of the 3 coordinating elements sleeves/a higher neckline, a looser fit both and/or on the top and the bottom.
Keep your silhouettes and fit of your clothes proportionate. Don't wear fitted on fitted items or baggy on baggy items-–try to find a balance of body-hugging/close-fitting items and ones that are forgiving. If you do decide to do a tight top/bottom/dress, try pairing a looser/longer jacket on top of it.
If wearing a short skirt with a heel, make sure the shoes are either tall heel or skinny but not both. A closer pointed-toe heel is always a safe bet.
If you're wearing a low cut or open neckline shirt with another revealing element (short or sleeveless, try to use necklaces/jewelry to take up space and balance out the look.
Ensure you're wearing seamless/non-see-thru undergarments and avoid having your bra strap showing.
Hope this helps xx

I've been working on little lolita fashion paper dolls dress up, essentially, for class (there's a presentation to make and a group activity to plan, so I'm presenting on lolita fashion and the activity will be the dress up dolls), the goal being that people who don't wear the fashion can try their hand at putting together a coord. And honestly? I'm pretty happy with it.
Here's an example of one out of 4 dolls and two coords I made from their wardrobe
One of my darlings has dutifully tested each little "capsule wardrobe" and it's been so much fun hearing about their train of thought putting outfits together. They don't wear the fashion themselves, but always welcome me talking about it, so it's a good metric for how people in class will do with it.
Should I post the printable pages here? Would people enjoy that? It's just a matter of cutting out the clothes and glueing together the outfit, pretty much. I'd love to see what people do with it.

Androgynous/Masc Leaning Capsule Wardrobe Ideas
In honor of International Nonbinary People’s Day, I offer you the clothing advice I wish I had like 15 years ago. I prefer a small well curated wardrobe but it is so tough to pull that off as a nonbinary genderfluid person. I spent years struggling to make my capsule wardrobe work for me. Every example I saw was either with feminine clothes or with the world blandest men’s clothing.
For reference, I’m AFAB and live in Kentucky - very hot and muggy in summers, can get quite cold (-20 F) in winter but it’s usually mild with highs are in the 30F-40F range most days. This is the advice I’d give my younger self if I could.
Focus on 10-15 Core Items
While I am fluid, I consistently spend most of my time “inbetween” these days. Having a neutral to masc learning main wardrobe with some feminine items to mix in wound up working best for me. So here’s the masc leaning base wardrobe I recommend.
~3 x Button Ups - I went with short sleeve Hawaiian shirts for myself because I love bold patterns. You can find a lot of Hawaiian shirt these days that don’t have stereotypical “island” patterns on them while still being pretty light and breathable in summer. If your style leans more classic, consider oxford cloth button ups. You might need more button ups if you work in a business casual setting.
~3 x Tees - I like graphic tees, specifically hand screen printed ones so that’s what I go with. But if your style is more classic then consider investing in some good quality solid color tees.
~3 x Casual Tops - for me this is a tank top, turtleneck, and a Henley. But you might consider a collarless button ups, plain long sleeve shirts, and ringer style long sleeve shirts.
~3 Pants - for me, I have black and stone washed denim since those are my favorites. I look for tapered fits over skinny or boot leg where I can. I have one pair that’s a jogger style I quite like. You might look for chinos or khakis if you have a more formal dress code at work but they’ll still work with graphic tees and other tops if you style them right.
~3 x Layers - for me this is a cardigan, a flannel, and a hoodie. You might consider v neck or crew neck sweaters, cable knit sweaters, and fair isle sweaters as well.
Feminine Clothing Module
What’s nice about this approach is that you can then create a feminine clothing module that plays nicely with your main wardrobe.
For me this looks like
1-2 Dresses - I have a maxi tee dress and a long sleeved linen dress since that works more for everyday wear for me.
1-2 Skirts - I don’t have any presently but the next big feminine swing I have I’ll be ordering a nice linen skirt in my favorite color.
1-2 Casual Tops - I don’t have any presently after my last big wardrobe edit but business casual shell tops, camisoles, and cowl neck tops work well here.
1-2 Layers - I have a linen blazer in a women’s cut and a long striped duster. You might consider a kimono style shrug/wraps, sweaters in a more feminine cut, and women’s cardigans
You don’t need a lot here because so much of the main wardrobe can be mixed with a feminine element or two and it becomes much more feminine - especially if you’re AFAB but even if you’re AMAB. It doesn’t take a lot a feminine clothing to make an over all outfit look more feminine and subtle touches work just as well as more overt styles ime.
Sizing
Sizing is tricky as hell. I’m plus size (size 18-20 in women’s pants) and especially trying to find masculine stuff with the right fit is a pain. I really recommend going in to try things on if you’re able but if not get comfortable with the idea you will likely need to send things back. Yes you can take measurements but those measurements are still listed with different proportions in mind.
For men’s clothes I lean toward a slightly oversized fit - as most men I’m around do. For women’s clothes, I lean toward a slightly tight fit - as most women I’m around do. Look at the people around you and see which fits they lean toward and opt for that where you’re able to for yourself.
Shoes, Outwear, Special Occasions
Shoes - I tend to opt to go neutral in my shoes and outerwear. Not in color or pattern mind you but gender. For shoes, I currently have 3 pairs - a pair of crocs (with spikes), running shoes/sneakers (old Champion brand slip ons), and a pair of Doc Martens. These are good options if you’re AMAB too because the sizing is unisex or available in similar styles for men and women. Other good options are Vans, Chucks, any hippie sandal brand you can think of. “Nicer” shoes are great but often pretty gendered. I lean toward getting “nicer shoes” that are opposite my assigned gender when I do grab them.
Outerwear - I also tend to opt for gender neutral options for outerwear too. Since it doesn’t get terribly cold here, I stick to a micropuff jacket from North Face and layer a black denim jacket over it when it gets cold. When I wear it with masc stuff, blends in. When I wear it with feminine stuff, it adds a slight edge I like. Pea coats are decent options as well. If you live some place real cold, a lot of the long winter coats are basically the same between genders, just different fits.
Special Occasions - I would recommend not worrying about special occasions until or unless they come up. I have the same two “special occasion” dresses that I’ve been using for years because they come up so rarely and I can’t bare to spend too much money on something I’ll wear maybe once or twice a year. Formal wear is highly gendered and if you learn androgynous it’s a tough needle to thread. For those events with hosts you know, it’s worth reaching out to them to see what they think makes an outfit “formal” - could be nicer cuts or materials, could be rigid gender norms - can’t know until you ask.
For most special occasions, I do not know the host, so I default very structured looks in accordance with my assigned gender. Still feels a bit edgy but no ones gonna have the guts to say it’s wrong. For AMAB folks you might do the inverse, more flowy looks and colors while still adhering to your assigned gender. All depends on the level of familiarity you have with the hosts and the flack you’re willing to catch.
Outfits
Some masc leaning outfit ideas:
button up, hoodie, pants, boots
graphic tee, flannel or cardigan, pants, sneakers
turtleneck, pants, boat shoes
button up, tie, cardigan, pants, chelsea boots
Some fem leaning outfit ideas:
button up, cardigan, skirt, sneakers
shell top, wrap, pants, sandals
graphic tee, skirt, sneakers
dress, sandals
Conclusion
Hope this was helpful to someone out there!

Gala pt. 1
MASTERLIST
‘Reader insert’ They haven’t heard Ted swear before or raise his voice, when they get dressed up for a gala the first word out of Ted’s mouth is “Fuck.” - for @dadbodfanatic-x . AFAB!Reader.
No warnings other than language, possibly a smutty followup though? 👀
The dress mentioned is Blake Lively's 2014 MET rose gold Gucci gown https://www.etonline.com/gallery/blake-livelys-met-gala-looks-over-the-years-183153/2014-86342
Chapter 1
You didn't get the chance to dress up very often. Workwear was usually sweatpants and a Richmond branded t-shirt, occasionally yoga pants if you'd managed to convince enough of the team to do a short session with you after training or a Richmond vest if it was a hot day. Always sneakers. You knew you'd signed up to a very capsule wardrobe when you'd gone into Sports Massage Therapy. In your younger days when a night out was a night out out, you'd dress up to the nines. Now though, nights out were usually a night in the Crown and Anchor. Hardly a red carpet event. And yet here you were - an actual red carpet event on your horizon, the 12th Annual Benefit for Underprivileged Children. You'd started at Richmond shortly after the 11th gala, you'd heard all the commotion about the 10th gala where Rupert Mannion had turned up unannounced.
You had your mind well and truly in your wardrobe rather than on the task at hand, so when Sam let out a little yelp as your elbow dug into the soft spot between his neck and shoulder, you nearly leapt out of your skin.
"Shit, sorry Sam." You replaced your elbow with your hand to ease the sharp pain. "OK, you're all done."
"Thanks. Hey, Simi said thank you for the yoga class you did on the Green the other morning, she loved it."
"I'm glad. I was going to go and see if anyone fancied a short session now actually?"
"I would, bet Jamie would as well."
"Jamie just wants a nap!" You teased as Sam dragged his training jersey over his head, you followed him out to the team gym. The small window into the Coach's office was open, but you hadn't seen any of them during the morning other than Roy. "Afternoon lads. How was training?"
"Good thanks darls." Isaac grinned, "You got some pain to put anyone through today?"
"Ahh, not today, sadly. I do love making you boys whimper for me, though. " You tease, making the Captain blush, "Was going to see if you fancied some yoga stretches?" Jamie stood up, reaching his arms into the air and making his back crack.
"Yeah, fair one. I need a stretch and a sleep."
"Long as you don't snore Jamie Shark, I don't care. See you in the locker room in 10?" A few nods and hands went up so you left them to finish off their weight sets and get changed yourself.
"I am never more surprised than when you can make our fearless Captain blush - how do you do it?" A singsong Midwestern lilt cut through your thoughts.
"Coach Lasso, I don't do it on purpose. They're boys, they don't know what to do when they're not the ones in charge." You smiled. Ted and the other coaches had welcomed you happily into the support staff. They valued your opinions in a way you hadn't expected, if you said someone couldn't play - your word was gospel. You managed to catch Ted off guard occasionally with your sharp retorts, sometimes it seemed only Roy and Beard were able to laugh you off. This was another classic example, one tiny mention of being in charge and the tips of Ted's ears had gone pink. You'd never, in 11 months heard him raise his voice, in fact, you'd never heard him swear either. Those Midwestern manners were famous, and he had good manners by the bucket load. "I'm about to do a yoga session if you'd like to join us?"
"Ahh no thanks, I've got some paperwork to get on with."
"11 months and I've still not convinced you. That's a shame, you'd be settling an excellent example."
"As is keepin' their files up to date." He gave a little salute and turned into his office while you went to yours. When you got back a few minutes later, yoga mat under your arm, a handful of players were milling around getting ready. It was a lovely spring day, warm - as summer could almost be round the corner. You'd ditched the sweatpants and changed into yoga pants and a vest instead. You rolled your mat out in front of the Coach's office window, leaving space for Beard or Roy to get to the door if they needed to.
"Sit down boys. We'll begin sitting with our legs crossed, rest your palms on your knees, back straight. Push your bum right into the mat and extend your spine, shoulders down. And close your eyes." You led them through a series of poses, you were no Yogi but you knew a handful of relaxing stretches you knew worked to loosen you up, it was nice to be able to share those with the players. Roy came in halfway through to see you with one leg outstretched, the other foot tucked into your thigh and leaning forwards to stretch out the inner thighs. He dropped down onto the bare floor to take up the same pose,
"My knee is fucking killing me." He muttered. You talked him through a couple of adjustments to help him find the best position to help with his pain. On hearing Roy, Ted had come out of the office. Not only had he refused to attend any sessions, he usually stayed in his office during them. The shock of seeing him come into the doorway nearly had you lose balance and fall flat on your face. He didn't say anything, just observed the group and went back to his desk. "Thanks love, " Roy said gratefully once you'd wrapped up the session, "I know I should make time for more of that shit, I know it helps."
"You also need a massage, Roy, your posture is awful from compensating for the pain in your knee. If you won't let me do it, I'll give Keeley some pointers later."
"She's takin' you shopping ain't she? Cinders finally gets to go to the ball!"
"I know, I'm looking forward to it. I think I've forgotten that clothing other than sport wear exists."
"Have fun, don't let her bully you into something you don't want to wear, she tries it with me all the time." Your head followed him into the Coach's office, looking in just to say goodbye around the small room.
"See you all tomorrow, fellas."
~~~~~~~~
"I don't know Keeley, it's a bit… much?"
"It's a gala. It's black tie and incredible dresses. You don't want to go all plain and simple when you have the chance to go full on spectacular!" The dress was spectacular. You had absolutely no idea that you could hire a designer gown rather than breaking the bank on trying to buy one. Keeley had suggested the most divine rose gold Gucci dress with the most daring neckline you'd ever tried on. "You have the perfect boobs to fill this dress, you sound go for it!"
"It's not too tight on my hips?"
"Babe, you look like an awards statue. You look hot, trust me. A certain coach will lose his mind, vocabulary and breath when he sees you wearing the shit out of that."
"I have no idea what you mean. Coach Beard has a girlfriend." You replied with a laugh. Keeley threw a balled up t-shirt at you in response. The dress did feel like liquid gold on your skin, it clung to every curve and made you feel invincible. The gala was only a few days away, it wasn't like you had all the time in the world to decide. You made a snap decision and handed the dress to the store assistant. Keeley’s comments rang in your mind in the days running up to the gala. You weren't out to impress Ted. Not specifically, anyway. But if it happened to be a happy accident, then so be it. You were far too shy to actively approach him and ask him out. After 11 months of watching those soulful eyes, talking to him, and becoming friends, it was getting harder to subdue and mask your feelings. You had no idea what he really thought of you, and that was the scary part. After putting poor Jan through various stages of hell as you pummelled his back without really concentrating, you decided to call it a day. Keeley had offered you the use of her makeup artist and you figured there was no harm in accepting. With your glad rags on, you hopped out of Roy's car and went to join the red carpet queue. Up ahead you could see Rebecca who looked incredible in a deep emerald gown. Beard and Jane were next on the carpet, followed by a few players. You were next, slotting in between Colin and Michael and Roy and Keeley. You heard her voice in your head reminding you how to pose, but god your hands were shaking. You hadn't noticed Ted arrive directly behind Keeley, but you couldn't miss him when you heard his voice as you stepped in front of the cameras.
"Fuck." You heard, wondering for a second what on earth he was swearing at, and whether he intended to do it so loudly. That you'd never heard anything like it from him before distracted you from the task at hand. It was Keeley pulling you back to reality which helped propel you down the red carpet, Ted’s voice still ringing in your ears.
Outside of regency or Victorian era costumes do you think there are any of other t. Shows or movies that have done a great job that you like?
sure! i'm curious why you specified "outside of regency and victorian era" since the show i cited last was the borgias which takes place in 16th century italy, but i guess i won't mention the first season of amc's the terror
i've only seen the first season of mad men but they have absolutely beautiful period costuming and set dressing throughout. i didn't like the show ratched but i thought the costuming was fantastic.
i don't really watch that much tv, i'm realizing... i watched fallout recently and loved it. i thought the sets and costumes were all really amazing. they read well and looked very alive and lived in. loved the retrofuturistic flashbacks as well with sort of edgier 50s american fashion.
all the above examples are american fashion in the 50s - 60s, uh... i genuinely love the costuming on sons of anarchy because it's such a perfect time capsule of edgy 2008 - 2014 fashion (bad) but that was all contemporary.
i gotta shoutout nbc hannibal for hannibal's bespoke wardrobe. also true detective s1 had costuming that was really informed by all the characters' selves and added a lot to their portrayals/on-screen lives.
About once a year I get attracted to the idea of a capsule wardrobe. Then I look at an example of one and it’s like 7 coats, 5 pairs of pants, 6 purses and I’m like ok, I guess I already work with much less than a capsule wardrobe so this may not be for me….
Buy This, Buy That, "Less than a coffee now!" It seems like every time we're on social media, we're bombarded with products, fashion trends, advertisements, and new "aesthetics" that, conveniently for drop shippers and fast fashion empires, require us to buy a whole new wardrobe and interior design scheme. So, here are my top 10 tips for breaking the cycle.
Figure out who you are. Rather than the you the advertising algorithms tell you that you are.
Go through your current closet, jewelry box, vanity, and decor. Keep what makes you happy, and toss, sell, or donate what doesn't anymore. Yes, this includes those impulse dopamine-seeking purchases and the "little treats."
Make a list of things you realistically do in your day-to-day life that may need closet supplementation from what a standard "capsule" wardrobe would offer you. Church clothes? Sport-specific clothing? Officewear? Do you do a lot of formal events that require attire for certain dress codes? Do you do date night and girl's night outfits? For example: I need dependable workwear for after-hours farm calls so I keep about 5 items in my wardrobe that fit that function. I also keep a bit more workout clothing than some would since I work out 6 days a week.
In the same vein as number 3, are there places where you can increase cross-over between categories in your wardrobe? For example, choosing well-fitted tees that can be worn as under-scrubs and as casual tops around town?
Figure out if there are colors and shades that you look best in/feel the most confident in. There isn't a need to do the one-size-fits-all color analysis that TikTok and Instagram are constantly trying to sell you on reels based on the seasons. Figure out which colors you are complimented the most in, that you feel the best in, and that inspire the most positivity for you. Narrow it down to 4 or 5 colors for both colors and neutrals (blacks, grays, whites, nudes). I did 2-3 colors per season, plus my standard neutrals.
Figure out your style. Personally, I tend to have a fashion that draws inspiration from American traditional, southern prep, English country attire, and the fashions of foxhunting. Think Orvis, LL Bean, Cordings, Dubarry, Talbots, Tory Burch, Ted Baker, and Lily Pulitzer. In decor, I tend to be drawn toward colonial era antiques, leather upholstery, campaign furniture, heavy fabric drapes, ox tongue wood finishes over cherry, oil paintings, black marble, gray field stone, and polished brass. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I found it by perusing fashions, furniture, decor, even TV and movies for things I adored.
Quality over Quantity: This is a big one. Rather than buying a new outfit every time I wanted to do something, or buying each cute accessory I saw and wanted to buy on impulse, I started getting really picky about the materials and workmanship in the things I purchased. Cheap may look good for a brief time, but it fades quickly. The things I buy now need to fit well, be of good material, be tailorable, have finished seams and edges, and be of substantial enough material that I trust that it will last me 2-10 years depending on the item, with some items being things I intend to only buy once in the cases of jewelry and scarves.
Cool off: This product looks like it would solve XYZ problem for me! Will it? Put it on a wish list and save it for later. If you still think it's going to revolutionize your life a month later, work it into the budget.
Quit buying from TikTok Shop, the majority of the stuff on there is drop-shipped junk made to capitalize on a quick trend, which is also part of why there's always pressure added to the pitch "before it sells out" "For less than the price of a coffee" "While the sale is on" if a product can be sold for $9 when it's usually $100, the deal is too good to be true, and the product won't last. Same goes for Shien and Forever 21 if I'm honest.
Focus on 1-2 items per season, an accessory, a cute top or a fun dress. Reducing my consumption to replacement levels plus 1 or 2 items has drastically cut my spending on fashion and decor. I also check second-hand stores first.
I went ahead and included some inspiration boards for you, one with pretty typical accessories for me, one to help better visualize my fashion sense, and then 2 palettes, my colors and my neutrals. I hope you all liked this, I'll also be doing a breakdown of my jewelry, vanity, and closet here soon.
Frederick's 30 Days
Day 17: How does accessibility / practicality affect how you’ve built your wardrobe?
My health conditions have definitely played a role in how I build my wardrobe. The biggest part would be shoes. I get a lot of pain standing for periods of time so I've had to choose comfortable shoes over ones that would be more "proper lolita" and fit my coord better.
I'm also working on a budget with limited space so I'm trying to structure my wardrobe following a lot of capsule wardrobe advice. Such as having an accent colour that fits a lot of my main pieces and getting accessories that can be worn across different styles.
This blog post gives some great advice on how to go about building a cohesive lolita wardrobe and this blog posts a lot of examples of capsule wardrobes as well as gives advice on building one. This is one of my favourite capsules they've done, it feels so cohesive without being too matchy and leaves plenty of room for experimenting.
You did an explanation of your 3 dress codes for work a while ago, but you only did summer outfits. Can you do examples for winter?
The original post.
You can have them combined! All 6 of these outfits I have actually worn for previous internships. Keep in mind that I’m looking at work in a relatively luxurious and artistic sector, so what is considered appropriate for my office may not be considered appropriate for yours. I’ve also posted my capsule-ish wardrobe for workwear here.
How to Build a Capsule Wardrobe for Effortless Style
A capsule wardrobe is a curated collection of versatile, timeless clothing pieces that work well together, making dressing simple and stylish. Building one helps minimize decision fatigue, save money, and create a sustainable approach to fashion. Here’s how to create your own capsule wardrobe.
Start with Neutral Basics Choose foundational pieces in neutral colors like black, white, gray, navy, and beige. Items like a white button-down shirt, black trousers, and a beige trench coat form the backbone of a capsule wardrobe and can be easily styled for various occasions.
Invest in Quality Over Quantity Focus on high-quality pieces that last, even if they cost more upfront. Look for durable fabrics and classic cuts that won’t go out of style. Think tailored blazers, cashmere sweaters, and leather boots.
Pick Versatile Items Every piece in your capsule wardrobe should serve multiple purposes. For example, a black dress can work for a business meeting, a casual outing, or a formal dinner, depending on how it’s styled.
Stick to a Cohesive Color Palette Choose a color palette with a mix of neutrals and a few accent colors that you love and that complement your skin tone. This ensures all the items in your wardrobe can be mixed and matched effortlessly.
Focus on Seasonal Adjustments Tailor your capsule wardrobe to the current season. For summer, include lightweight fabrics and breezy silhouettes. For winter, add warm coats, boots, and layers. Rotate items in and out of your wardrobe as the seasons change.
Include Key Categories Your capsule wardrobe should cover all aspects of your lifestyle. Include workwear, casual outfits, evening wear, and activewear. Ensure each category has just enough options to suit your needs without overcrowding your closet.
Don’t Forget Accessories Accessories can transform a simple outfit. Add a structured handbag, classic jewelry, and versatile shoes to your capsule collection. Scarves, belts, and hats are also great for elevating your look.
Edit Regularly Reassess your capsule wardrobe every few months. Remove items that no longer fit, suit your style, or get regular use. Replace them with pieces that align with your needs and preferences.
Sustainability Is Key Building a capsule wardrobe supports sustainable fashion practices by encouraging thoughtful purchases and reducing waste. Look for eco-friendly brands or consider secondhand shopping for unique, quality items.
Confidence in Simplicity A capsule wardrobe allows you to focus on quality and style without overwhelming choices. When each piece feels intentional, getting dressed becomes a breeze, and your style feels effortless.
Conclusion Creating a capsule wardrobe is an investment in simplicity and style. By focusing on versatile, timeless pieces and sticking to a cohesive palette, you can create a wardrobe that serves all your needs. Start small, and watch your wardrobe become a reflection of your best self.
As a fan of her music who also happens to be a woman who makes questionable-bad choices ™️ (though of a different nature), and has blown up aspects of my life in a much smaller scale (because it’s easy for me to have work, friends, family all know a different version of me cause I’m not a global superstar)…. I very much appreciate Taylor releasing TTPD and letting it all out and sharing such personal details.
As a fan of the woman and only wanting good things for her, I can’t help but feel releasing a large portion of TTPD was equally cathartic as it was part of the self harming.
Like it’s cathartic to write and get it all out. And it’s cathartic for her to sing those songs and have them sung back to her because it makes her feel less alone (her words) and I wonder if she feels she has a “duty” to release some of this stuff because she knows it’ll hopefully resonate with someone…. But she also painted a very unflattering picture of herself - which I admire cause it’s real and… good for her. But for someone who has been so image conscious for nearly 20 years, releasing the songs that paint her in a bad light and make her look psychotic - so much that she in part ANTICIPATED the reaction because she called it a manic phase and self harm… like was releasing it part of throwing her life to the wolves or ocean rocks? Is she wanting to be understood by people who don’t need to, or don’t deserve to understand her and the whole tatty thing? From an image pov, the consensus was she was so heartbroken and fucked in the head that she rebounded with a “loser because she was so broken. Did she release all those songs to defend his honour or explain herself? Or just sharing dope songs?
One of the best things my therapist told me was that when I feel misunderstood (which is a lot lol) it’s actually ok and not a bad thing that the person at the post office thinks I shop too much online (but they don’t know that I’m buying things for a side hustle), or that a colleague thought I had no personality for having a capsule wardrobe (I did it to reduce decision fatigue and be economical. I had a uniform and never had to iron, sort my washing or think what to wear). Or a friend thought I was rich cause I went to a string of concerts in a row (she had gone on an overseas vacation, I did not go on a weekend away and just spent my money on concerts and festivals which just all happened to be in the summer). Weird examples, but there wasn’t any problem in those people perceiving me the way they did and it didn’t affect me in a meaningful way that needed correction. If my colleague thought I didn’t shower and said I stank and told HR, or thought I was coming to work high - that is worth saying ‘umm actually…’ or if someone thought I was cheating on my partner or doing something bad where it affected those relationships, then it’s important to correct the narrative. This has been a huge issue for me and I’ve worked with my therapist when she realised I was starting a lot of my downfalls by over sharing lmao because I just wanted to be understood and hate hate hate being misunderstood!!!! But “not everyone needs or deserves to understand you” honestly changed my life.
I’ve typed too much but idk ijbol but yeah like I’m not saying Taylor should have kept TTPD in a vault, and there are some songs that wouldn’t have added to the shitstorm in Texas. But she created a bigger monster when she released it and idk I just wonder if for her, if that was healthy… or if she really wanted the songs in the wild if she would have been better off releasing a ‘eras from the vault’ but not saying when the songs were written. Like half could be John mayer smack cams and Smallest Man would’ve been better received if it was perceived to be him outside the fandom imo lmao.
I love so much of what you’ve said and I’m gonna reread it later because it just hits tbh. I love it. There are so many true things here.
Taylor releasing TTPD should put an end to “she only does this for clout” because yes absolutely she didn’t have to tell us all this.
Taylor should go to therapy lol like ofc she should. most of us should and she doesn’t have money barriers to it so there’s no reason she doesn’t go regularly (I do think she’s been but didn’t like it and you’re not supposed to every time)
Taylor as of TTPD does not seem well lmao like that shit’s not okay and it’s relatable and stuff and she’s very productive but she… does not seem well… and that’s fine lol I’m not judging but come the fuck on lol. People acting like she’s super okay and better than she’s ever been are a bit weird. She seems unwell but that’s fine like we all do dumb shit sometimes ykwim?
Do you have any tips for decluttering and getting rid of clothes when you love clothes? I have so many clothes in my closet I can't even move the hangers back and forth to see the article of clothing. I thought having a lot of clothes would make me more trendy but I literally just wear whatever because I'd have to excavate my closet to see what I have. I know I need to get rid of some just to have a normal amount of space but I get so attached to them for some reason. Any advice?
So the first thing I want to say here is that there's nothing inherently wrong with having a lot of clothes. I think over the past decade especially, people have started to assign a kind of moral goodness to minimalism, but I don't think anyone is morally obligated to have a capsule wardrobe. If you like the pieces that you have and the problem is really a storage issue more than anything else, you don't necessarily have to get rid of clothes in order to solve the problem.
For example, if you live somewhere seasonal, you might be able to put your fall/winter clothes in a vacuum sealed bag and then put them in a different closet/storage area/in suitcases/wherever you have room until you need to take them out again. That way, you have more room in your closet to see the items you might actually wear in the next few months, but your clothes are available if you want them. If you have the space, you could also add more storage for your clothes, like under-bed storage containers, a clothing rack, shelves, a dresser, or a wardrobe. You can also get clothes hanger extenders that allow you to fit clothes in your closet more easily and keep them more organized.
If you do want to get rid of some of your pieces but you're emotionally attached to them, I would start by just pulling out the clothes that aren't practical for you any more. This would be clothes that physically don't fit you or that don't fit your lifestyle. Then, I would go through again and pull out the clothes that don't make you feel good about yourself. Try not to judge yourself for this, but let yourself say, "this piece highlights an insecurity I have, so I don't feel my best when I wear it." Don't be picky with this- if you don't like how a color looks on you or how a texture sits on you or how long a piece is, pull it out of your closet.
Between these two exercises, you may have removed enough clothes that your closet feels manageable again. If you're struggling to actually donate them, I would put them in a bag and then put that bag somewhere you won't see it. Leave it there for three months and see if there's anything in there that you end up wanting. After three months is up, donate or give away everything that's left in the bag. I suggest doing this because I think it's much easier to let go of clothes being in your closet when you know they'll still be accessible if you want them, and it's much easier to donate clothes when you don't actually remember what pieces you're donating or when you know they're pieces that you're not actually going to wear.
If you've done all of that and still want to downsize your closet, then I would think about what you want your style to be. Are there certain celebrities whose style you admire, brands that you like, or pieces you find yourself drawn to? What it is about those styles/people/items/outfits that you like? Try to describe your goal style in three adjectives, and then describe what those adjectives mean to you. What kind of cuts, colors, fabrics, textures, finishes, and ways of styling represent those adjectives to you? Then, I would go through your closet again and pull out any pieces that don't fit with those adjectives. Once you've done that, think about whether or not you can make those pieces work with your desired style. Could you wear the piece differently so that it fits with your desired style? Is there a way you could alter it to make it more in line with the style you want? If the answer is no, do what you did with the other clothes and put them in a bag for a few months. If you don't find yourself reaching for them in that time, donate them or give them away.
7 Reasons I Wear The Same Thing Every Day
When I first decided to become minimalist, I can remember looking in my closet and seeing 100, maybe 120 different articles of clothing.
I cut my wardrobe in half to 60 items. But then I discovered Project 333 started by Courtney Carver. After trying it, I cut my closet in half again.
Nowadays, I own about 33 to 35 articles of clothing. Somewhere during that process, I started wearing basically the same thing every day: a V-neck t-shirt, pants, and black shoes.
I have come to love wearing the same thing each day. And I’m not alone. A lot of people are doing the same thing.
Here are some of the reasons why I wear the same thing every day:
1. Fewer decisions. This is by far the most popular reason why people decide to adopt a streamlined capsule wardrobe.
Decision fatigue refers to the deteriorating quality of decisions made by an individual after a long session of decision making. Wearing the same outfit each day removes picking out clothes as a decision to be made.
The truth of the matter is, you have more important decisions to make than what you’re going to wear each morning.
2. Less time and energy wasted. When you wear the same thing every day, you save time deciding what you’re going to wear each morning. And you save significant energy over the course of the week.
Just think about how much time goes into maintaining, and organizing, and taking care of your clothes. Laundry, for example. When you decide to wear the same thing every day, all of that becomes easier. You save time in the morning and energy over the course of a week.
3. Less stress. As a result of fewer decisions and more time, wearing the same thing means you have less stress in the morning.
It also means you experience less stress over the course of the day. I don’t ever have to think about, “Oh man, am I wearing the right thing today? I wish I would’ve worn x instead.” I wear the same thing, and it works perfect for almost every occasion. I love it. You will too.
4. Save money. The average American family spends $2000 a year on clothing—despite already having closets full of clothes.
For some reason, we just keep buying more and more and more. A lot of this expense is wasted on clothes that are never worn—trial and error fashion that ends up wasting time, energy, and money.
5. Feeling put together. Every moment of every day my clothes fit, match, and just so happen to be my favorites. All day long, I feel like I’m wearing something I enjoy and look good wearing.
6. Less waste. The average American throws away 70 pounds of clothing every year. Deciding to wear the same thing is good for the planet, it’s good for you, and it’s good for everyone else as well.
7. An iconic look. Wearing the same thing every day is the quickest way to become famous. You become known for your particular style, you look put together, you look classy, you look comfortable, and you look confident. Because you’re not constantly chasing the newest fashions, you’ll communicate confidence in who you are and how you look.
I love wearing the same thing every day. You will too.
AD ft House Of Flint | Size Inclusive Sustainability.
There have been a lot of conversations around size inclusivity and sustainability recently and the truth is that those conversations come to an end pretty quickly because there aren't enough ethical and sustainable companies willing to make their clothing size inclusive.
And for that reason, when brands like House of Flint, come along, its even more important to celebrate and support them.
House of Flint founder, Jess, started the company, "nearly four years ago whilst living in a caravan at the bottom of a veg plot" which has to be one of the coolest ways to start a business that I've ever heard of.
Passionate about creating pieces that are not only size inclusive, House of Flint are part of the limited brands offering custom sizing, but committed to pieces that have long lasting use, and can transition with you through the seasons - perfect if you're looking to build a capsule wardrobe.
Primarily handmade by Jess with some freelance assistance, it's such a wonderful knowing that when you buy from House of Flint, so much effort, passion and thought goes into it.
And the passion extends into ensuring that these pieces are adaptive. House of Flint is for all seasons and all bodies, meaning these pieces are designed to consider accessibility needs. So many brands leave this behind in their designs, but House of Flint provide as many details about the garment in advance, so you have all the information you need to make your decision and their always happy to consider how to make a piece more accessible.
Inspired by Val of @val_and.co I wanted to show the pieces that I'm wearing #styledseated
From detailing the fit, measurements, fabric and colour, to model height, there is so much intentionality that goes into making sure you find what's right for you.
It's also pretty spectacular to see a brand modelling the pieces on a multitude of diverse bodies in order for you to make an more informed decision. In fact on the site, with the ready to buy pieces, you can explore the "fit" section that gives you a clearer idea of how the piece fits on their model and how it might relate to your own body.
For example:
House of Flint also offers several different options that make investing in their pieces more accessible. One of those options is "Preloved". It takes into account that life and circumstances can change and for whatever reason, if you no longer need that House of Flint piece, you can send the item back and receive store credit towards a new piece.
And what's even more brilliant is that the piece will be mended with love and then still go onto be sold to a new customer, meaning that the lifespan of a House of Flint of piece can truly be timeless.
And that's better for the environment and better for our pockets, too.
I mentioned mending, which also another service offered, you can have pieces repaired, again extending the life of your pieces. Truly meaning that when you invest in a House of Flint item, your investing in something that can be with you for as long as you want it.
There's also a subscription option that allows you to pay towards buying pieces, by investing as little as £10. This is a great way to take away the immediate pressure to spend larger sums in one go.
There's also currently a sale on, so be sure to check out the website and this summer invest in a House of Flint piece.
