A couple of years ago when I went to Bali for 3 weeks to work on my book with the editor I was excited because I thought this was a good opportunity to meet some new people. I’ve always heard how Bali is a hotspot and all sorts of men and women like to visit Ubud for yoga and good food. I rented a nice top floor apartment with a nice balcony so I could work but took frequent breaks to go to local cafes. We do something 125 times every day that is worse for us than smoking. 🚬 . Yup. Every day. 125+ times. . What’s ironic, is that I have to use my cell phone 📲 to make this argument about how addictive & destructive constant usage can be in our daily lives if not used mindfully. . We are distracted, disconnected, and connected to an artificial world 24/7. We are reachable 24/7. We can get almost anything at the touch of our fingertips at anytime. . The UC Health Organization reported the average American unlocks their phone 100 to 150 times per day. Let’s say each time they do, they use it for 60 seconds each time. This is already around 2️⃣ hours per day! And if we are keeping it real, we all know it’s usually much longer. . When you check your phone or hear an alert, you activate your sympathetic nervous system, the fight or flight & with that is a little shot of adrenaline for every interaction. It’ll take 5-30 mins to get back to baseline each time after that. This stress compounds in the body & wreaks havoc on the body & mind. . People (including me 🙋🏼‍♀️) say they would like to unplug more often. But when it comes down to it, less than 30% say they actually do so. . Here’s your chance. Cell Phone Addict: Its time for Digital Hygiene

The other day I observed that I had something important to discuss with my husband and he was busy watching some video on youtube. Though he had lent me his ears but he was not involved in the discussion. The moment I asked him to keep his phone aside, he did not even respond. So that's the plight to today’s relationship -  a mere gadget is important that the person sitting next to you feels ignored. It not about getting rid of this technology as it provides immense values, the question arises how do we support the value without carrying the baggage. And thats what is known as dealing with #cellphoneaddiction . 

Try these things - it should help a lot of us,

1. Try meeting a friend WITHOUT cellphone

2. Go on vacation WITHOUT cellphone 

3. Keep a book handy

4, Go on a cellphone diet - set timings for usage  

5. Track your usage and reward yourself. - there are many applications which lets you know about how much time you have spent on the phone and on which apps. The day it is less than the usual - reward yourself

6. Turn off unwanted notifications

7. Keep yourself busy in other mood bursting activities
