1. CRIMINALLY underrated as a key player in the narrative. so often in fan content, he’s relegated to comic relief when in reality his character arc is the fucking CO-FOCAL POINT of ch1 (alongside susie’s)

but where susie learns that opposition isn’t always the answer, and it can lead to her hurting people she loves, lancer learns that the authority figure in his life isn’t omnipotent and perfect and he can stand up for what he knows is just. he can question the adult in his life he can BE HIS OWN PERSON and he doesn’t have to feel like he’s not good enough. fuck. not personal or anything prommy (lying)

His goddess took all that. She was his first in everything, a 'romantic' tale more a thesis on devotion and too-skewed power, and all things Gale does, he does because he doesn't, hasn't gotten. I’m not well versed in SCP community drama at all, but I AM curious, so if you don’t mind; what’s up with Dr. Bright’s Whole Existence?

oh boy okay. bright is/was a very vocal part of scp lore, being featured in countless tales and scps alike, eventually having his own little list of sorts entitled "the things dr bright is not allowed to do". the character itself, dubbed jack bright (or just character bright), is most notable for being the most recognizable character besides a couple others (clef, kondraki, etc) that people saw from the scp fandom. he had his own little cult-like following in and of himself that was almost separate from the main-line scp fandom as a whole. eventually his creator, admin bright, was outed for being an abuser who used their influence over their cult-like following to solicit nudes and etc from primarily minors or people who were freshly 18, mostly using their power as a scp wikidot mod(? iirc) to get those things in exchange for site access (? again, iirc. the entire admin bright ordeal was poorly documented in the beginning and after more stuff came out it only got more poorly documented). after this (almost) everyone collectively decided to ignore and/or get rid of character bright, who was later replaced with elias shaw. eventually, in a now hated on move, djkaktus, a former(?????) wikidot mod completely wiped "the things dr bright is not allowed to do" off of the wikidot in an effort to scrub jacks existence away. all in all, it was an entire shitshow and everyone has pretty much collectively decided to move away from any mention of jack bright and instead most people have rewrites of 963/bright (<- elias shaw being the more popular one on the main-site, but others like dr myriad (created by mattastr0phic) are fairly popular in their own rights off-site. commonly you'll just see shaw, but i'd be remiss not to mention myriad bc she's a pretty big staple in the 963 rewrite community)

i ordered 2 books for a church research project on Black saints in the early Church and also in the Reorganization, on which the one book had a small section us and all had info from the our shared early church history, and it was an ebook too!

and i get physical mail from them once a month. i have no idea how to cancel.

herald house, the community of christ publishing house, contacts me much less, and i buy books from them all the time.

and oh their church book app reminds me to read my scriptures and the words of their prophets regularly if it's not in sleep mode.

even though I'm not that active in the xs fandom currently you've surprisingly come to the right person bc I've rambled a bit about raimundo hcs before to my friends. I had to dig up some discord messages to find all my hcs

I hc raimundo to be white-passing and mixed race, which is like the majority of brazilian ppl tbh. side note: in brazil "race" is defined almost solely by skin color, so like if I left my country it's possible I'd be considered a person of color because of my features, but in brazil I'm considered white. raimundo would be in a similar situation

so in these discord messages past!lucas has said "the only mentions of his background is that he has 8 siblings with a lots of aunts and uncles" and "he mentions that the 'rough' part of rio is his 'element'". now, I, lucas of the present, barely rmr this bc it's been forever ago since I watched xs, but I'm trusting past!lucas on this I think he would never lie to me. based on that I'm a fan of the theory raimundo is an orphan and grew up as part of the lower class. I don't think I ever theorized what the fuck happened to his parents, but I like the idea of him acquiring abandonment issues because of it. since he grew up poor I think he'd also have a lot of survival skills, knowing how to make due with very little, etc.

I actually just thought abt this but it's very uncommon for latino people to only have two names. I myself have four, bc the family names just keep adding on top of each other when u marry instead of being absorbed into the husband's name. so realistically raimundo would probably has at least one other family name

not exactly a hc but something interesting to note about mundo is that he is a good example of something we call a "malandro" in brazil. a malandro is a brazilian concept of a cunning anti-hero who outsmarts, deceives and takes advantage of others, usually for personal gain. describing it like this makes it sound like a bad word, but it has a positive connotation. like culturally being malandro is considered a good thing. we even have a saying that goes like "every day a malandro (in this case a scammer) and a sucker (in this case the one who gets scammed) leave their houses.", implying that if you're not the one taking advantage of others, you're the one being taken advantage of. I don't think this was intentional on the xs writers' part to make raimundo embody these traits so perfectly that r culturally significant to brazil but and I find it interesting.

similar thing to above we also have something called "gambiarra", which is like achieving something through improvised means instead of the "correct" (and usually more expensive) way. also very important to brazilian culture and I think raimundo would be adept in it

Hot take that shouldn’t be a hot take but it’s okay if an art style is “ugly”, it’s okay if a character design is “ugly” and it’s especially okay for a female character design to be “ugly”

A piece of media having a woman be “unattractive” is not the fall of western civilisation, a female character with small boobs and no make up is not running around murdering the hot anime waifus

Female characters with tiny waists and massive impossible honkers can co-exist with “realistic” female character designs, one does not suddenly erase the existence of the other

dune part two was good but the first thing i did when i came back home was watch dune (1984) to see kyle maclachlan's pretty face
