Jerusalem is filled with ancient Biblical sites to visit. On our tour of Israel, we visited many of its holy locations, finding the archeological sites which confirm the Holy Scriptures.

Israel - Holy Places In Jerusalem (2/2)

There was much more to see in this holy city. Most obvious the Dome of the Rock on top of the temple plateau. The area is bigger than it seemed from below. Tina, the tour guide, lead us over a wooden ramp along the western wall to the plateau near Al-Aqsa mosque. From there the view opened to the famous Dome of the Rock. Around the plateau are many trees and park like areas where family…

Slowly posting my journey through the Holy Land still... Venerated the rock on which Jesus was placed after he was taken down from the cross and prepared for burial. We celebrated High Mass outside of the Empty Tomb, where Jesus was buried. I was one of the first in line to venerate Mount Calvary, where Jesus was crucified and died, so while everyone else was still upstairs (atop the mountain), I made my way down towards the tomb for some alone time to pray. I made it down just in time to enter the tomb before they closed it to prepare for mass. I was able to enter and actually spend time inside the tomb without being rushed like everyone else was. God knew I needed this moment. After Mass, we all lined up and I was able to enter the tomb a second time. This time was rushed as everyone else was lined up to venerate as well. That first moment inside the tomb was meant for me alone and I'm grateful to have had that. PS photos aren't allowed in the tomb; I'll answer to God later. 😬 Before leaving the church, we ran into a childhood friend of mine, Father James Arriola. It was great seeing him after all these years. Months after the pilgrimage, the spirit remains with me still. Entry. Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Build up over the place of His mockery, crowning and cruxifiction. The location of the His tomb is still debated.
