I appreciate that filmmakers repeatedly find ways to attach Peter Lorre's characters very closely to characters that are noticably taller and/or ganglier than he is. Whether they have romantic tension or just seem like they're great friends/colleagues, there's a sort of bonded pair [or trio] vibe they give off that I live for.

Great Double Feature Idea:Support Your Local Sheriff and Comedy of Terrors ,Genre Goof Off
So I just watched Support Your Local Sheriff and I think it would be great paired with Comedy of Terrors
Heres why : Both are genre spoofs done by veterens of the genre ,starring genre staples lampooning their serious personas
Support your Local Sheriff does it for Westerns starring James Garner ,Jack Elam ,Walter Brennan and Harry Morgan
Tumblr media
Comedy of Terrors does it for Horror starring Vincent Price,Boris Karloff,Peter Lorre and Basil Rathbone
Tumblr media
Both get big reccomends from me,both are funny and showcasee the comedic talents of these performers
Also if anyone can think of another genre spoof done by people known for the genre its spoofing ,feel free to share

Random thoughts but sometimes I like to imagine what Lorre caricature would look closest to a specific character that Lorre has played.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This thought came about because I was thinking that Yetch has the same haircut as when Lorre played Raskolnikov.
I do try to think of others. I genuinely don't know where to place Slappy. I know when I make a Slappy gijinka, I use Editor Stix as reference because I think that was when Lorre was the cutest but I know that isn't right.
My friend @froskii absolutely REFUSES to watch Comedy of Terrors with me because they didn't want to start associating Slappy being an old man. I know Slaps is definitely not young but I refuse to acknowledge that a lot of the time. I can't be caught simping for GILFS on main! However just to terrorize Froskii, I think Slappy would look like Felix Gillies. They both work in the funeral industry anyways.

Slappy being a mortician in Family Plotz kinda reminds me of the 1963 movie Comedy of Terrors (starring Peter Lorre!)
Tumblr media
Probably because Peter's character is an undertaker's assistant.
Tumblr media
Obviously Slappy isn't being blackmailed into the business like Felix Gillies (Peter Lorre) is but they are both involved in roughly the same scheme to generate profit.
Think about it, in the movie, Felix Gillies (Lorre) and Waldo Trumbull (Vincent Price) work together to kill people so they can generate more business.
Slappy works as a mortician while also being the servant of a vampire (the economy in Bikini Bottom is rough) After Nosferatu is done feeding on his victims, Slappy would now have bodies customers to embalm, thus generating profit for his own business <3
All in all, a win win situation :)
Tumblr media
Another thing they'd likely have in common is the agreement of how coffins are a waste (unless you're a vampire of course). I mean besides the obvious factors (the materials such as the heavy metals and paints used to make coffins leech into the soil and pollute the environment) it's also such a huge waste to make such a pretty box just to put under ground! That would've made the perfect bed for some poor vampire!
Now I don't think Slappy would condone coffin stealing (never steal from his brethern) but he'd definitely agree it would be a waste spending all of your time making your corpse look pretty by embalming just to put it underground.
Tumblr media
Just look at his hard work! Does this deserve to be hidden away from the world?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They both also have a history for breaking and entering <3
The only thing these two don't have in common is that Felix hasn't embalmed a body ever and definitely will not start now.

Nobody: 60s/70s Horror Movie Candles:
Tumblr media
Seriously what is is with old 60s movies and having these candles????? What was the chokehold red twisted candles had on the 60s Hollywood Horror scene? Did they order too many? Was the prop department desperate to get rid of them? Why were they in every movie?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What dirt did the candle company have on the horror genre?

There’s a new production of Dracula, Off-Broadway, in New York. Based on the trailer (link below) this Dracula appears to be Bisexual. It make sense… when you’re a vampire you might as well double your option at love and your next mean!

Comedy of Terrors (1963) ⚰️
Director: Jacques Tourneur (Alta Vista Productions)
Genres: Horror Comedy 🎭
Notes: Slapstick Comedy, Illustrated opening credits, Nice sets, graveyard, Undertaker, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff, Basil Rathbone
Review: If you love a bit of physical comedy in a slapstick style, campy acting and a horror star studded cast you'll love Comedy of Terrors. The intro credits I loved with the art style of the characters drawn out in illustrations. This was a fun watch with plenty of twists and gags that keep things light between murders. Some jokes may feel a bit drawn out compared to some modern comedy but the payoff at the end was well done.
Overall I give Comedy of Terrors(1963): Must Watch ⚰️
-Warnings for Folks-
Alcohol Abuse: Vincent Price's character drinks very heavily

ROUND ONE - Mr. Darcy (Pride and Prejudice) VS Waldo Trumbull (Comedy of Terrors)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
!!! PROPAGANDA BELOW !!!
MR. DARCY: "He's such an ass. He insults people where they can hear him "...not handsome enough to tempt ME." The whole town likes Bingley more than him despite the consensus being that Darcy is more handsome just because he's so rude to people. He won't talk to anyone unless he thinks it'll be interesting. He proposed by listing every single trait he doesn't like about Elizabeth and insults every member of her family in the process. He's mad that he's in love with her because he thinks he's above her when she thought they had some mutual hatred going on."
WALDO TRUMBULL: "Not only does he murder people to bring customers in to his undertaker's business, but he's a petty bully who yells at and insults his wife, constantly mocks and mistreats his employee Felix Gillie (making him do all the work while Trumbull sits around drinking and snarking at him, and at one point telling him to sit down then *shoving him onto the floor* and laughing as he asks if he's "comfortable"), and tries to poison his father-in-law. His first scene starts with him covertly giving the middle finger at a funeral, then when the mourners have left he digs up the coffin so he can dump the body into the grave and reuse the coffin to save money. A few scenes on he shoves a random guy out of his way in the street. He's a hypocrite who says "is there no morality left in this world?!" when the widow of a man he murdered doesn't pay him for the funeral. The only character he's nice to is his cat."

Lorre's Cat Café: Felix
Tumblr media
A clumsy, cuddly, easily-astonished old mop of floof who loves boxes, but often breaks them. Felix is prone to tumbling into breakables and rolling down the stairs, yet can still climb onto the roof and get through barely-opened windows. He's a lousy hunter, usually failing to kill his pray and dropping it. He watches Vincent Price movies, awe-struck, while we vacuume his fur. He enjoys unusual music, purring and cooing whenever someone plays a Yoko Ono record. He tends to take a liking to the more eccentric humans.

I forgot that The Comedy of Terrors (1964)(starring horror legends Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Basil Rathbone, and Boris Karloff) gave named main credits to the cat (credited under multiple names, including Rhubarb, Jeremy and Orangey).
Tumblr media
But hey, this is the best part from the wikipedia
Tumblr media
Also, you have to admit this is a great logline for a film
