It is always such a shame when people are comparing Nosferatu adaptations and they always leave out the Spongebob episode Squidferatu from 2022. Graveyard shift is iconic and all but how could you ignore THE OFFICIAL SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS ADAPTATION OF NOSFERATU??

That was made to HONOR the anniversary of the original 1922 movie?? For shame! It's basically Thomas Hutter's trip to the castle but instead with SpongeBob characters. You've got your own Herr Knock in the form of a Peter Lorre fish! What's not to love?

So the upcoming Spongebob Christmas special was released early on dvd if you live anywhere outside of the states. I had zero self control and so I watched it because I just HAD to see stop motion Slappy <3

LOOK AT HIM!! HES SO CUUUUUTE!!!! I will sell my kidney some day to have the funds to buy the Slappy puppet someday. That's my dream <3

The stop motion SB specials are nothing new but I have a feeling Slappy was thrown in for comvience. I predict they likely made him for an unamed halloween special and out of convience slipped his puppet into the Christmas special.

Something I did want to mention is the fact that the SB stop motion holiday specials are inspired by the Rankin Bass stop motion holiday specials which I think is neat. There is already a Rankin Bass Peter Lorre character which you all already know of and that is Yetch from Mad Monster Party

I dream of someday having both puppets meet. In my heart I would be smashing them together like dolls making them fight.

I am now obsessed with phrase ‘a Peter Lorre aquarium’

In setting up one, what would you advise for the proper care of these fishies? Do they have any special nutritional needs? Do they thrive in warm or cold water? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thankyou for asking! Too many people want to set up a Peter Lorre fish aquarium these days without even stopping to consider the unique needs of Lorre fish and it can be really frustrating as someone with a deep love for deformed cartoon clones of Golden age actors, who hates to see them mistreated and neglected by bad owners

That said, most Peter Lorre fish are Euryhaline and are comfortable in salt or fresh water, but have a preference for very warm water. We can see this in the documentary series, Spongebob Squarepants, where Popular Lorre Fish, Slippy Lotte and Slappy Laszlo are often featured. Note the frequency of the local beach, Goo lagoon, as a town hotspot, the light or nonexistent clothing of most fish and the clear Polynesian cultural influences over Bikini bottom and the tropical climate Slappy and Slippy prefer is apparent. I'd also recommend sprinkling radiation into the water if you can get your hands on it or use preradiated water

As for nutritional needs, just remember that Peter Lorre fish have diverse diets. They can't live on bugs alone, they also need plenty of human body parts, fish body parts and candy. And if you have any other pets, keep them separated from your lorre fish. I learned that one the hard way

As for enrichment, remember. Lorre fish are much more affectionate than the average fish and love cuddles, pets and playing fetch, but they also need reading material, access to video games and vocaloid AMVs, aswell as updates of tragic events to stay stimulated

Well actually The Patrick Star Show but same difference. This is a screenshot for this Friday's episode The Dated Game where Patrick hosts a dating game. I'm assuming Slappy is describing his ideal date or something. Somnambulist Slappy is just so cute!! I could squish him until his eyes pop!💕

This is the 3rd time the franchise has reference the 1920 German Expressionist movie The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari!

Random thoughts but sometimes I like to imagine what Lorre caricature would look closest to a specific character that Lorre has played.

This thought came about because I was thinking that Yetch has the same haircut as when Lorre played Raskolnikov.

I do try to think of others. I genuinely don't know where to place Slappy. I know when I make a Slappy gijinka, I use Editor Stix as reference because I think that was when Lorre was the cutest but I know that isn't right.

My friend @froskii absolutely REFUSES to watch Comedy of Terrors with me because they didn't want to start associating Slappy being an old man. I know Slaps is definitely not young but I refuse to acknowledge that a lot of the time. I can't be caught simping for GILFS on main! However just to terrorize Froskii, I think Slappy would look like Felix Gillies. They both work in the funeral industry anyways.

Outfit I'll be wearing for my YouTube review of "Mystery of the Leaping Fish" (1916).

I'm doing a YouTube review series for old noir films, where I'll be dressed up in vintage fashion for each one. (And yes, a disproportionate number will be Peter Lorre movies.) I've been planning this series for years, but things kept getting in the way and delaying it. But it turned out that was for the absolute best, because six months ago I moved into the most sweet-ass noir apartment ever.! This brick background is one of my own walls. On the inside.

The plan is to film a handful of videos over the next couple months, before the summer heat hits (I don't have A.C.). Then gradually edit and release them over the next year or so. After that, I'll add new reviews casually, whenever I feel inspired and find the time.

"Mystery of the Leaping Fish" is the first review I filmed so far, but it won't be the first one I post. I'm filming out of order, because I have different things planned for different videos. This was sort of a test run, so I used something short and silly. The first review will be "Casablanca" (1942) followed by "Plan 9 From Outer Space" (1959), as "the Greatest Movie Ever Made" and "the Worst Movie Ever Made" are the two by which all other old movies shall be measured.

I'll be posting the videos to this blog when they're up. The first review, "Casablanca," will hopefully be up this summer.
