White fandom TM swooning over harlequin Lestat is so unhinged considering the actual play character is BLACKFACE!!! AND TOO FEW PEOPLE SEEM TO BE AKNOWLEDGING IT!!! I'm genuinely so serious when I say that I hope Armand comments on it to a degree.

Like, they even gave him a black mask, ffs, they knew the origin of this character and attempted to change it (imo, from what I saw of the promo), but it's unchangeable in context. Especially with that mask as a marker for the irl "costume".

idk anything about this tbh but damn?? here's stuff I found rn otherwise. also idk if I'm missing a promo but how can u tell they changed something to try and hide this part? I still have no context for this character lol and I've seen a lot of the promos. how can u even tell that and why would they change that part anyways when that's not even the role lestat plays in book canon? why deliberately change characters, give him the mask too, but then leave the racial part out in *this* show?

i feel like flame princess would have rapped to pb when she asked her to join the war at the end of adventure time. Also like I feel like her rap tyle would be more political, like she has a unique perspective about tyrents and monarchies and the way all of ooo is set up. Also like i feel like she would have more poetic structures and allustions in her rap. Like the fire kingdom has a shakespereian practice still going strong and uses zanni masks so i assume also the commedia dell’arte of itelian theater is knowledgeable to her. Like i dont know about rythem tructure or about the stock charecters of itelian theater im just saying that i feel like her rap would be very diffrent then like anyone else in ooo.

I think what’s incredibly funny about the split on Dottore in the Genshin fandom is that both fans and haters agree on one thing, do not redeem him.

Dottore as a character is interesting because he can't be redeemed. I dont really have qualms with him being a quality of sympathetic because ultimately he is human and a villain can be unredeemable despite that. Dottore is a character who was ostracized despite trying so hard to fit in, and for pretty good reason when you look at his lore. He's lonely and feels abandoned by humanity and envies Wanderer because he was an inhuman entity who didn't have to hide who he was to be accepted, meanwhile Dottore was a human entity who did have to hide his more monsterous tendancies to be accepted. It's interesting because instead of devaluing his irredeemablility it actually supports it. He can't be redeemed because he recognizes what parts of him are percieved as wrong but not why they're wrong and while he's long since given up on being accepted by the village and committed to burning it to feel its warmth, he still envies Wanderer for having what he so desperately wants.

The way Dottore can be redeemed is if it's not Prime. His Segments are recreations of eras of his life he likes to keep around for efficiency and because they provide different perspectives on projects and issues. Dottore was not always the way he was and if he is ever to be "redeemed" it would be less Prime being redeemed and more so a younger Segment that can still be nutured to be a better person, to recognize the importance of ethics in science and why Prime's actions are wrong. It would be a fascinating look into nurture v. nature, are monsters created or born?

Dottore's character is too valuable to the narrative to be redeemed or ignored, he is either loved or hated with little lukewarm attention. He is incredibly well written and there's so much potential for his character.

I am genuinely so glad that the iwtv writers decided to age up not just Claudia, but the entire main vamp cast. Aging up Lestat, Louis and Armand to their late twenties to early thirties gives them more depth and dimension, both generally (in my experience, you experience, grow and develop so much in your twenties, even if it’s not necessarily as visible as the growth in your teens) and specifically for the individual characters (I have so many bullet points of thoughts in my notes app, I’m not even kidding).

Also, can you imagine how fucking insufferable Lestat would be about it if he had been turned before his singing voice had reached vocal maturity? He’d need an entire 600 page book to bitch about that exclusively
