Yesterday in group therapy I had two kids that started the group off by fighting over putty. By the end of the group they were talking to one another, sharing their feelings, and supporting one another because they realized they both had gone through a similar very difficult experience. As group was closing one made the statement "Everybody always has something in common." It struck me. Not only was this statement wise beyond his years, it made me realize this individual truly took something out of group. So no matter what is going on in the world, no matter how negatively you think about someone else or a situation, remind yourself that everyone has something in common with someone else.
