Kristen saying “Doubt has given me so much relief,” the montage of everyone outside of the briefcase scrambling to make things ok again (Sandra Lynn trying to save Lydia, Aelwyn desperately casting spells to help them) and then Cassandra hitting us with “If you remember me, I cannot be fully gone” was actually too much for me to emotionally handle, thanks 🫶

I know that everything feels terrible right now (and many things are), but today I watched multiple people come together to make sure someone can keep their job even though it may (and in some cases definitely will) result in concrete sacrifices from each of them, and it was just a little reminder that so many people are fundamentally good and will help others.

Zenos viator Galvus and him trying to deal with actually feeling things for once (Even if he doesn't really understand how to handle the comfort he receives from others for it)
I am also giving this man a dad that actually cares, because this brainworm have gotten me and there is no saving me from them.
#ffxiv#sketch#zenos yae galvus#adventurer zenos#durante#zero#local man learns how to feel again... and is regretting it immensely-#as his old habits of “ignore” or “shut down” dont work that well anymore#because#at least from what I've personally looked into#unironically zenos' method of reaper contract was the smartest way to go about- he wouldnt have had the context that they used to be people#but I also write Zenos with the thought that he would abhor becoming anything like Varis-#and I dont think he'd like being directly responsible for turning another person into a weapon or a tool like how he was- intentional or no#and I think its just a neat point of tension between adventurer zenos and zero#and it just ends feeding into what I write one of his main hurdles being#his resignation that he may never change- or that he isnt worth compassion because of the circumstances he grew up in#and him being so ready to take blame and resign the possibility of apologizing because (given context) i dont doubt#that Varis had constantly blamed him for Carosa's death#and it also just gives me a bit of reasoning why him being called a monster (specifically thinking of the scene with Krile) sets him off#I also just like the idea of Durante taking him in as a hesitant mentor and accidently bonding with him- even beyond the theories I have#(and this is totally me being biased because I ADORE durante as a character)#but I think helping Zenos and the way Zenos and Wol would later interact with each other would give him a measure of peace#of being able to guide someone and be there for someone like it seemed golbez was for him#I also think zenos deserves at least one warm fatherly hug#and who better than the strange old ass voidsent who could honestly probably rotate him any moment his guard is down

waiting for the day that people in a certain fandom learn that you can express a dislike for a ship without insulting people who ship it.
insinuating that someone is mentally unstable for shipping something you don't like trivializes mental illness, and it's ableist as hell to use that as an insult (funny how people's so-called progressiveness goes out the window in fandom discourse)
anyway I'm talking about some specific posts i just saw but honestly this applies to fandoms in general
the people playing pretend with fictional characters can't hurt you, nor are they trying to. but you going out of your way to make sure that everyone knows you're good person because you play pretend in the correct, good, wholesome way makes being in fandom spaces fucking exhausting
more ranting under the cut
The ship in question isn't even one of those "illegal" ones; it's an age gap between an adult and another adult. Would this gap make me wary IRL? Yeah...but these are not real people. What's more, there are real couples with significant age gaps and you cannot convince me that all of them are inherently toxic.
The fact that the ship is enemies to lovers also made them upset (because of implications of abuse) but people are unfortunately not good at separating what people like to explore in fan works from what people think is healthy in the real world.
I'm always annoyed when I'm just trying to look for my ships in peace and come across those kinds of posts -- not because it annoys me that there are people who don't like it, but because the way they do it is so irritating. There's no real conversation or critique going on. It's just "eww that's so yucky! Anyone who likes this is sick!"
They are absolutely not interested in discussing complex (and sure, even unhealthy) relationships between characters in an in-depth way, because it's icky. And anything icky must be avoided at all costs because if you think about the icky thing for too long that must mean that you are actually bad person.
Anyway, turn your brain off and only consume good, wholesome things. Prove to the fandom gods that you are holy and unproblematic.

We've bought into the idea that education is about training and "success", defined monetarily, rather than learning to think critically and to challenge. We should not forget that the true purpose of education is to make minds, not careers. A culture that does not grasp the vital interplay between morality and power, which mistakes management techniques for wisdom, which fails to understand that the measure of a civilization is its compassion, not its speed or ability to consume, condemns itself to death.

Gale Hawthorne mirrors young Snow
holy shit I'm losing my mind
okay here's why I think so --
Weather related name -- Snow vs. Gale
Hawthorne -- the name for shrubs/bushses in the family Rosaceae, aka the rose family. Pop quiz: what other character is associated with roses
Those are the surface reasons. Other reasons why:
Arguably similar behavior to their love interest - I'd say both Gale and Snow display possessive/jealous behavior.
Gale moves to District 2 after the war. Hear me out. Although it's been a minute since I read the books, I do remember Gale resented those with more wealth in his District. I'd argue Gale's resentment and desire for more (wealth, food, power, etc) mirrors Snow's, as well as his anger at the system that created his circumstances. While wanting more isn't necessarily bad, what you are willing to do to achieve that may be, especially when you live under a fascist regime. Gale's shown, with the bomb idea, that he's capable of coming up with plans that should horrify a compassionate person. The potential is there, if left unfulfilled by Coin's death. His move after the war to District 2 always niggled at me, but it makes sense if you think of it in the context of Gale's desire for power and his ambition. Katniss, if I remember right, mentions that Gale is promoted to a fancy government job. Interestingly, District 2 is also one of the districts that more closely aligned itself with the Capitol pre-rebellion.
Gale and Alma Coin. I've seen comparisons of their dynamic made to Snow's dynamic with Gaul, and I honestly agree with it. What comes immediately to my mind is how Snow came up with ideas to make the Hunger Games more popular and publicly digestible, while Gale came up with the bomb idea. Side note: while Gale might not have built the bombs or deployed them, I do think in some way he does hold responsibly for Prim's death, if in fact it was his idea that killed her (obviously, the only person who would know for certain she used Gale's idea would be Coin). Maybe if Gale had never come up with the bomb idea, it wouldn't have happened. Or maybe someone else would've come up with it. Maybe if Snow had kept his mouth shut about his ideas to change the Games, they would've ended. It's possible Gaul would've come up with something else, or someone else would have. But what we do know for certain is that Gale did pitch the bomb idea and Snow did implement new ideas for the Hunger Games, and both their decisions had affected the narrative.
