Finished writing Detours, which means that now all the time I usually spent writing it is free. Gonna start using it for revisions on an original manuscript, but also hey, why not make some progress on Temsik Turnabout while I’m at it.

Rip Oldbag calling Phoenix a homophobic slur.
How she clocked Phoenix but somehow thought Miles freaking Edgeworth was straight enough to consider her an option is hilarious to me. The kind of delusion I wish I had.

May we get snipped of the aulpha Strider household? Is Hal there 24/7 or wandering like Sawtooth did and only occasionally showing up? Did Squarewave and Sawtooth make it to the future, or did Dirk never built them at all?How is Daves relationship with Hal?
Tumblr media
had this sketch stitting around so i finally cleaned it up a bit for this ask sjdjdk
sawtooth and squarewave are there ofc! theyre helping as best as they can, i imagine dirk build them for a different purpose but then was like "wait actually leaving hal alone with a toddler in a postalocalyptic future in the middle of the ocean is a very shit idea" so he left them in stasis with hal to act as a moral support lmfao. daves having a blast with squarewave, its a rapoff 24/7 in this household, and sawtooth isnt around too much like in the canon, but when he shows up he keeps an eye on both of them (very youngest-middle-oldest sibling dynamic with hal as a tired robodad). also hal and sawtooth are in a constant argument about how to best raise this human child (theyre both probably kinda garbage at it but theyre trying their best)

Important: a Rhoda Teneiro appreciation post.
Replaying Ace Attorney Investigations now that its duology is here, Turnabout Airlines - or well, more importantly, Miss Rhoda herself, still mean so much to me.
She may only be in one case but I just absolutely adore her - from her professional attitude to her sense of style and everything in between…
And she’s just so beautiful!
Her smiling this genuine smile here… gosh. She really deserves the world. I love her sm!!!! <3333

Do you guys think it actually killed Manfred von Karma to be absolutely destroyed by the complete antithesis of his ideals? That no matter what dirty tricks he pulled, coaching witnesses, withholding and stealing evidence, physically attacking the defense, none of it mattered because the least perfect man was so stubborn and had just enough friends to help him out.
Everything that Phoenix Wright became is exactly what Manfred was trying to kill in Edgeworth. He’s the hope and the belief in people, the bravery to stand against the unjust no matter who is in opposition to him, he’s the childhood dreams left behind and the memory of a time before tragedy and there couldn’t have been a better person to do it.
Phoenix is ridiculous and inexperienced and brave enough to toe the line into stupidity and you just know that Manfred fucking despises that this is the guy that tore apart all of his schemes and saved the child he spent so long psychologically abusing until he was unrecognizable. But in the end, he failed. Miles Edgeworth did not kill his father and Manfred couldn’t be perfect enough.
He probably spent his last years on death row absolutely stewing in rage about it, the idea of which makes me very happy.

Teaser - Turnabout the Third (coming soon to Ao3!)
“Mr Lupin, please-”
“Okay, okay, you got it!” he cuts into my groan. “I’ll get you that letter of request!”
Thank goodness, some actual cooperation. Good thing I always carry some fill-in-the-blanks letters around in my briefcase. I pop it open and draw one out, and I pass it to a guard so that he can take it to the other side of the glass.
“Just don’t be surprised if you don’t need it by the next time you come here,” Mr Lupin says casually.
Huh?
“Why’s that?” I ask him.
“I’ll probably escape.”
Trucy makes a noise like she was choking on a yelp.
“Wh-” is as much as I can manage.
“Only if I get bored though,” the thief continues, and it’s honestly quite intimidating how conversational he is about the insanity that just fell out of his mouth. “I’ve been in and out of prisons and detention centres for a long time now and this one’s easily the most comfortable I’ve ever been shut in. None of the other cells I’ve been in gave me books!”
Does he not even realise what he’s talking about?!
“…u-um…” Maybe there’s some way I can steer him away for that idea. “…you do realise that’d mean we’re wasting our time because of you, right?”
“Eh, maybe I’ll come join you,” Mr Lupin says as the blank-faced guard enters his side of the room. “Never really played detective for real before. I always wondered what it was like.”
He accepts the request letter, along with a pen that’s thick and plastic and purpose-made to be as inconvenient for stabbing a person as possible.
“O-Okay, well…” Clearing my throat doesn’t do anywhere near as much to make me feel better as I’d hoped it would. “…let’s take care of that letter and…”
Just accept it, Phoenix. Go along with it. This is going to be a long day.
Mr Lupin fills in the blanks in his letter. His handwriting is almost insultingly neat.
“You know, it’s ridiculous,” he says as he works his way down the page. “I’ve stolen, I’ve blackmailed, I’ve threatened, I’ve stolen again, I’ve gone on the run, I’ve embezzled, I’ve stalked, I’ve trespassed, I’ve jaywalked, I’ve broken laws I never even knew existed! And of all the things I get booked for in this, the 21st century-” he signs the page with a flourish. “-it’s a murder I didn’t commit. How does that make any sense?”
…a very long day.

I still hate everything the plot is doing with Newman, but calling Blackquill "Birdman" is based and I hope it becomes a Thing

hello! really loved your "The Complete Turnabout" fic you wrote! its a really cool take on the alternate universe but not really trope! if i may, and I hope this isn't out of place to say this, but i was hoping you could potentially update the Ghost Trick tag on it with it including "major spoilers" or at least "spoilers"? i know the fic doesnt include that many references to GT, but i feel the one about who the black cat is, is kinda.., kinda a big spoiler. if thats okay! im speaking as someone who got into GT later, thankfully i didnt remember most of the references so i went in mostly spoiler free but just thought i'd throw that out there since the HD remaster has released and more people are bound to know GT now!
I’m so glad you liked Complete Turnabout!
And yeah, that’s a completely fair request. Sort of like you said, at the time of writing there was no sign of Ghost Trick getting a remaster or rerelease on modern consoles, and I just sort of assumed - to be very honest - that even for all my request people play the game, nobody would lol, and kind of like you mentioned, those who did would hopefully forget about the brief little kitten scene.
But yeah, now updated to better warn about ghost trick spoilers inside!

Just played Ace Attorney for the 1st time, and.... Phoenix??
source: x
In ONE day, your friend learnt his girlfriend was brutally MURDERED just after he tried to see her again while she's been ghosting him for minimum weeks, and then learnt she was cheating on him with several men this whole time, and was basically a luxury prostitute, and you tell him he "should be happy" because he was found innocent of her murder and because she just was a whore??
WTF??
(hence the need to have ShadyVox' rageful voice here)
Are you SURE you know what love is at that point in your life, Fee-Fee?? (you clearly didn't LOVE Dahlia or Iris, you just clang on them bc they made you feel less alone, that fucking shows here)
And you have the fucking GALL to say Edgeworth is cold??
Shit, talk about some pathological savior syndrome, Phoenix! You should see a fucking psychiatrist too!
The good part is I'll never badmouth Larry now. Never. That guy needs a big hug just like everyone else in the AA universe. I fucking hope Phoenix did that after his case, or else!!

After finishing Disco Elysium a couple of months ago, I’ve been feeling that no game will ever be this good again and excite me and make me that emotional. And now I’m almost done playing the first Ace Attorney trilogy and I’ve realised that there are probably MANY games that I haven’t played yet that are THAT good. And that was a very pleasant thing

maybe I'm reading too much into it but I do like how Aura's logic behind choosing Miles as prosecutor changes with the revelation that you're actually defending Athena, not Simon. when you think you're defending Simon, Aura deciding that Miles should be the prosecutor makes sense because she knows that he's on Simon's side and wants him to be innocent. when the twist that Athena is actually the one on trial happens, it becomes much more sinister. of course the justification of "she was just a little kid" means nothing to Edgeworth, and you should know why, Phoenix. Aura has to know this too. Edgeworth doesn't hesitate and he doesn't sugarcoat because it was hesitation- and a desire to hide from the truth- that messed him up so badly in the first place. He's probably genuinely trying to help Athena, in a messed up way, but he's failing to recognize how their circumstances are different. Aura chooses Miles because she knows he can empathize with Athena and she knows that, because of that empathy, he will show her no mercy.
