Becoming a Certified Pharmacovigilance Professional: Importance of Computer System Validation for Professionals
In today’s rapidly evolving pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, the role of professionals who ensure the safety and efficacy of medicinal products is more critical than ever. The demand for qualified experts in pharmacovigilance (PV) is growing steadily, and one key aspect that enhances the expertise of these professionals is obtaining certification as a Pharmacovigilance Professional. Additionally, understanding the importance of Computer System Validation (CSV) has become a crucial part of their skill set, ensuring that systems used in the collection and processing of pharmacovigilance data are compliant, reliable, and efficient.
Understanding Pharmacovigilance and Its Importance
Pharmacovigilance refers to the science and activities related to the detection, assessment, understanding, and prevention of adverse effects or any other drug-related problems. Pharmacovigilance professionals play a significant role in ensuring that the public health remains protected while maintaining a robust regulatory framework for medicines. They are responsible for collecting data from clinical trials, post-marketing surveillance, and spontaneous reporting, then analyzing this information to identify potential safety concerns or trends.
With the rise of complex global healthcare systems and the increasing use of medications, the importance of pharmacovigilance cannot be overstated. Professionals working in this field must be well-versed in regulatory guidelines, adverse event reporting procedures, risk management strategies, and safety assessments to protect public health.
The Role of Certification in Pharmacovigilance
Becoming a Certified Pharmacovigilance Professional (CPP) is an essential step for anyone looking to build a successful career in this field. Certification demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of pharmacovigilance practices, pharmacology, regulatory guidelines, and safety monitoring of medicinal products. This certification is recognized by various regulatory bodies, ensuring that the individual is equipped with the necessary skills to contribute effectively to pharmacovigilance activities.
Tumblr media
Certification programs typically cover topics such as clinical trial data analysis, regulatory compliance, risk management, and safety signal detection. By obtaining a CPP, professionals can position themselves as experts in pharmacovigilance, improving their career prospects and gaining a competitive edge in the job market. Furthermore, it helps professionals stay updated on the latest industry standards, safety guidelines, and technological advancements.
Computer System Validation (CSV): A Critical Component
As pharmacovigilance processes become increasingly digitized, professionals need to ensure that the systems used for managing sensitive drug safety data are reliable, compliant, and secure. This is where Computer System Validation (CSV) becomes vital. CSV is the process of ensuring that computer systems used in regulated industries, such as pharmaceuticals and healthcare, are functioning as intended and comply with regulatory requirements.
In pharmacovigilance, CSV ensures that the systems used for collecting, processing, and storing adverse event data adhere to industry standards like 21 CFR Part 11 (for electronic records) and Good Automated Manufacturing Practice (GxP) guidelines. This validation process involves rigorous testing, documentation, and continuous monitoring to confirm the accuracy, integrity, and security of the systems.
For pharmacovigilance professionals, understanding and implementing CSV practices is essential to maintain data integrity and meet regulatory requirements. Professionals need to be proficient in working with validated systems to ensure the quality and consistency of pharmacovigilance data, which directly impacts patient safety and regulatory compliance.
Conclusion
To excel in the field of pharmacovigilance, professionals need to possess a solid understanding of both safety monitoring and the technical systems used to support these processes. Becoming a Certified Pharmacovigilance Professional and gaining expertise in Computer System Validation for Professionals are two critical steps toward ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and regulatory compliance of pharmacovigilance activities. With the healthcare industry becoming increasingly data-driven, these qualifications not only enhance professional expertise but also play a crucial role in safeguarding public health and advancing the overall safety of medicinal products.

Also, why do people assume I’m uneducated? That's what I want to know.
I’m not even trying to be big-headed, but just because I don’t say much and I listen more than I speak doesn’t mean I’m uneducated. It’s wild to act like I haven’t spent years learning how healing actually works; the only reason there’s been a pause in my career is because I became physically disabled. I’ve devoted years of my life to studying treatment models, trauma theory, neuropsychology, attachment styles, research methods, dissociation and more. I’ve examined how the brain processes trauma, how systems of care are structured and the limitations those systems often carry, especially for those of us who are the minority.
Was I not working directly with mental health MDTs, both inpatient and outpatient? I was advocating for patient rights and arguing for appropriate treatment methods, because some consultants and doctors were giving the worst care plans to people they only knew from a computer screen. Do you know how much knowledge and confidence you need to challenge medical professionals and win? As if I wasn’t working on PICU (Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit) wards with some of the most unwell people in crisis for a good portion of my career. Did I not have a caseload of over 15+ service users at any one time, personally responsible for treatment, assessments, home visits, risk evaluations, care plans and formulations? All while ensuring everything remained person-centred and their support systems were involved, which meant liaising with multiple people and organisations for each person in my caseload.
I shadowed consultants, psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors, and mental health nurses; I also had associate staff shadowing me. I did that while attending study days and learning about things that were triggering the hell out of me because I was actively still going through trauma and abuse, but I still showed up! Because people deserved the best care I could give. I did that! I did that while actively being abused and splitting, and still showing up in mental health services and trying to make as much of a difference as I could.
To imply that healing is only valid if it’s facilitated by a professional undermines the reality that many of us have no choice but to become the expert on our own systems.
I hate when people act educated because they know a few buzzwords. Get tf out of here. I’ve done the actual work - academically, clinically and personally - and I’m still furthering my knowledge through ongoing studies even now because although I have a good knowledge, I still understand there's still so much more to learn.
To dismiss my healing because I’m not currently in therapy is reductive and, frankly, ignorant.

I was curious as to how you became a children’s librarian. I was interested in becoming one myself. I wasn’t sure if you went through the local school system or through the city.
I went through the city. I work in a public library. I started as a library assistant working in circulation, where I would work both in the circulation room and on the front desk, then I got my master's degree in library science with San Jose State University during the pandemic. SJSU has a pretty great library science program--it was completely online and asynchronous, so I'd be working about 15 hours a week on 3 classes adapted to my schedule (although many of these classes would have group projects where I would have to coordinate zoom meetings with other students, so if you're in like... a non-west coast time zone you're going to want to plan accordingly). My collection development class was kiiind of a joke but for the most part all the professors were very experienced and professional about their work and helping their students. Really I wanted to specialize in Teen Librarianship but the first ~actual librarian~ position I could move into at my current work was at the children's desk because there was an opening, so I took it. But also you should know that I'm on call and working two part time jobs, and that's how it is for a lot of librarians and libraries these days. It's not insta-full time as soon as you get a masters. It takes forever to make it to full-time. And like... good fucking luck trying to get benefits. I mean I know people don't go into librarianship because they want to make that ~cash money~ but also a lot of people go into librarianship because they have very lofty and romantic notions of librarianship and ~ooh this is where I'm meant to beeee because I enjoy this space~ and I'm just going to say maintaining a space for public use is very different from being the person experiencing that space. It takes a combination of passion, adaptability, and a certain amount of mental fortitude. There are so many old people who have not touched a computer since Bill Gates was building them out of his garage and it's your fault, librarian, that they don't know shit about fuck with technology. They want to give you their social security number and make you operate the scary light up box for them but you legally cannot fucking do the thing they are asking you to do and also jesus fuck my guy you are going to get scammed so fucking bad if this is your attitude toward this shit.
...sorry, those were war flashbacks from working the tech desk.
Children's librarianship. Okay. Well. I love being a children's librarian. I love helping kids gradually work through more and more challenging books, or finding titles related to their interests. I love the little flash of validation you see in kids eyes when they start talking about what they're currently interested in and you're actively engaging with them because, hey, this is going to help me help other kid patrons, but also yes, the "Who Would Win" and "I Survived" series are very cool. I love coming up with little fun things for storytime, andI love that kids love my puppets!
But also--remember that bit I said about how existing/experiencing a public space is different from actually maintaining that space? That goes quadruple as hard for children's librarianship because if your library is a ~wonderful safe space~ where your patrons feel ~safe~ then all of the parents will turn their brains off, never clean up after their kids, and sometimes just... fucking not even bother looking up from their phone or break out of their catatonic state on the couch as their toddler toddles towards the fucking stairs. AND I GET IT. PARENTING AS-IS IS INSANE AND UNSUSTAINABLE UNDER CAPITALISM. YOU ARE COMPLETELY BURNT OUT AND YOU FEEL SAFE AT THE LIBRARY AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE ELSE YOU'RE GOING TO GET MENTAL REPRIEVE FOR 20 MINUTES. BUT THOSE ARE FUCKING STAIRS THAT ARE GOING TO CONCUSS THE SHIT OUT OF POOR LITTLE BREIGHDYNNE, MA'AM, AND I'M HELPING OTHER PATRONS (WHICH IS MY JOB) AND YOU ARE THE PERSON WHOSE ACTUAL JOB IS MANHANDLING THAT CHILD TO SAFETY.
Also for fuck's sake, parents, I get you're nervous about putting books back in the wrong spot but that's what the reshelving shelves are for. Would you think it's acceptable to leave books all over the floor in your own house? No? Then don't do that in a space you're sharing with other people! We're in a community, people!!
Also a child will poop themselves in your children's section (I'm not talking 'baby's diaper is full' poop, I'm talking an emotionally fragile transitional kindergartener 'i got distracted and forgot to listen to my body and now I'm having a meltdown' poop) and their parent is going to carry them off at arm's length to the bathroom and you're gonna have to do a quick check to make sure their poop... fucking stayed in their pants. And there won't be any poop on the floor but it's still gonna be at the back of your mind for your whole shift because the smell wafted through the whole children's section during the parent's daring bathroom run. Just... emotionally prepare yourself for poop. You're going to see more of it than you think you're going to see in a library--whether working children's or adults.
Whoops. Wasn't done with the war flashbacks, apparently.
Look. I do love librarianship. And I do love the library I work at and the community I serve. There is a real sense of... vitalness in the work you do as a librarian, but because you're working in this public utility, you also become sharply aware of the myriad ways our society has failed our people and just how vulnerable everyone actually is, and you frequently find yourself in this kind of funky semi-improv position between like... your actual responsibilities and skills as a librarian and meeting your community's needs and also empowering them to meet their own needs!
(Very very depressing sidenote but my boss actually advised me to not go into school librarianship because a lot of schools are moving away from trying to maintain their own libraries in favor of like, more scaled down media center sort of things. Don't know how across the board that is, but also school librarianship is also a more specialized branch of librarianship within the library science career.)

2. The Footprint of a Giant
I've said before that Sunda Systems was a global company, but I don't think even I understood the scale of the investigation I was undertaking. The first thing I needed to do was get a sense of the scope. To do that I needed to understand the corporate layout.
To start, Sunda is an umbrella company that has quietly (and not so quietly) purchased a lot of technological companies.
Tumblr media
Sunda Systems had complete ownership or majority stake in things I'd never imagined.
Some things I would have anticipated. For example, in 2021, they purchased the internet radio company Re:Mx and they had controlling interest in a broadcasting technologies company called Ressepont. For a corporation focused on wireless connectivity, these things made sense to me.
Engineering and satellite companies? Sure. Even the three laser research companies kind of made sense. I could talk myself into the idea of using lasers for fiber optics.
But then there was the medical research. They outright owned Brainwire, a tech start up that wanted to create a human-computer interface. They also owned Lotus Clinical Research and it's subsidiaries.
What on Earth would that have been for? A sideways purchase in the name of portfolio diversification?
It got stranger when I found court documents of Lotus trying to fend off a hostile takeover. Brainwire seems to have gone smoothly. If you started tiny company in your back shed and a giant like Sunda approached you with a truck of money, you're not going to turn it down. But Lotus appeared to be functioning well on its own and the CEO, James Pepper, did not want to sell.
Until he suddenly did.
Tumblr media
Hundreds of documents and depositions were attached as exhibits to this Order.
When Mr. Pepper first files his injunction to stop Sunda from buying Lotus, it was because the swing vote on the board, John Delphine, began behaving strangely. Here is testimony from his initial October 1, 2008 filing:
It appears that John has lost his mind. Years we spent building this company from the ground up. We wrote protocols together late into the nights. We found medical equipment anywhere we could. We found doctors willing to work with a couple of scrappy upstarts. And god damnit we did it. We made this company profitable. And now? Sunda Systems waves a couple dollars at him and he's ready to sign the company over? No. No chance in hell. No amount of money is worth the work we put in here, and he knows it. I don't believe he's in his right mind, and I would like him assessed by a professional. It had to be some kind of nervous break or an addiction or something! There is no other reason he would come into my office in the state he was in. Talking so fast about the wonderful multinational conglomerate that wants to buy us out. I was only catching every three words. He was maddened! That wasn't the John I knew.
Mr. Pepper fought tooth and nail against the sale of his company by his partner. The suit lasted three months. Mr. Delphine never got his psychological evaluation. Instead, Mr. Pepper simply gave up the fight. This is a retraction that Mr. Pepper gave on December 21, 2008, leading to the closing of the case:
I now see what John saw back in October, and I apologize for thinking what I thought about him. I'm still worried about the zeal with which he approached me, but the points he made were valid ones. Ego kept me from seeing the truth. It is my wish to retract my claim of mental incapacity and move forward with the sale to Sunda Systems and I am very excited to work with them in a subordinate position so that I can continue to shepherd out company to greatness.
The recorder who took Mr. Pepper's retraction noted in the filing that the man appeared tired and defeated with red eyes.
Mr. Pepper and Mr. Delphine are now high ranking executives in Sunda's Clinical Research Division, and both have offices in the Eden Springs Campus.
I reached out to them, posing as a reporter following up on the sale years later. I asked if they'd had any regrets selling Lotus to Sunda. Oddly, they both answered the exact same way, verbatim:
"It is a wonderful opportunity to work for such a forward thinking company. I wouldn't leave it for anything."
It sounded obviously rehearsed; even more so after I heard it the second time.
During my call with the men, the webcam light on my laptop came on again, only turning back off after I had hung up. That seemed far too much of a coincidence. I don't want to believe that someone in the company is keeping tabs on me, but a company dedicated to the internet has to have someone who can hack a webcam.
I'm proceeding with the assumption that I'm being monitored. I wondered if I should try to get a new router, but every time I think about it, it seems so overwhelming. My provider uses Sunda equipment exclusively so I'd have to find a new provider and cancel my service and it just all seems too much. I'll just keep it. What harm could it really be doing?
The last piece of information I found today was an old classified add for the home of the Delphine family. They listed their Eden Springs home in early 2009 and it sold for $349,000. Quite the windfall for that era of history.
Out of curiosity, I looked up John Delphine in the Avery County Tax Assessment records and found he and his wife's new address.
Tumblr media
They live on-site at the Eden Springs Campus in an apparent outbuilding on the same property as the offices.
Perhaps it's time for a visit to North Carolina so I can get a real look at Maple Hall.

oh my god. intro post. great idea.
updated 26/5/25
~~🌸🌺🪷🌺🌸~~
Heya, we're the mimosa system (no not the cocktail), a plural system of around [UPDATE: 18 or so] or possibly more I don't know but that's where we're at right now
We're hoping to become a professional musician (just one?? smh), and so each of us kinda have a preferred instrument like we're part of a band or something but it's not quite that simple. For the most part though we play piano/keys, guitar, bass, accordion, drums (for now only through the computer), and a few of us can sing. We also do a few other creative things too, such as drawing and writing.
Some things of note:
Our fictives (Doppio, Giada, DIO, Mai, Uzi, Cyn, N, Tessa) are open to questions/talking about their source, just keep in mind that their memories of things might not be exactly the same as source.
Zoe, Sy and Maia are siblings (this is just a fun fact)
Some of us are better at talking/typing than others, so be patient with us if things aren't quite making sense (Glacia purrs a LOT even when messaging, Cyn will randomly add big gaps when talking, STARLESS is nonverbal and isn't good at typing either)
We seem to share a lot of memories between each other but for safety don't assume we remember everything that happened when someone else was fronting
A few of us are minors so please keep that in mind when interacting with us and not knowing who's fronting
If we forget to say who's fronting there's nothing wrong with asking :)
We're also always open to any questions or DMs about our experience as a system, so long as it's respectful and not super intrusive. Best to ask first
All systems are valid. That includes you!
Please don't talk to us about syscourse, we just don't care what our or anyone else's origins are. That just feels intrusive.
Pretty sure that's everything?
Honestly we'd be impressed if you read this far. Give yourself a pat on the back, or something idk
Thx and be nice to everyone!! Especially freaks and weirdos of all kinds ❤️❤️❤️
~~🌸🌺🪷🌺🌸~~
p.s. If we make it onto r/systemscringe, tell us PLEASE that would be so goddamn funny

The science of a Bidirectional Brain Computer Interface with a function to work from a distance is mistakenly reinvented by laymen as the folklore of Remote Neural Monitoring and Controlling
Critical thinking
When you label it "RNM", the quality of your information plummets. Is it scientifically validated? No. It’s not based on empirical evidence—it’s a dead-end term that undermines credibility.
History of the RNM folklore
In 1992, a layman Mr. John St. Clair Akwei tried to explain a Bidirectional Brain Computer Interface (BCI) technology, which he didn't really understand. He called his theory Remote Neural Monitoring. Instead of using the scientific method, Akwei came up with his idea based on water. Lacking solid evidence, he presented his theory as if it were fact. Without any real studies to back him up, Akwei twisted facts, projected his views, and blamed the NSA. He lost his court case and was sadistically disabled by medical practitioners using disabling pills. They only call him something he is not. Since then, his theory has gained many followers. Akwei's explanation is incorrect and shallow, preventing proper problem-solving. As a result, people waste life-time searching for a true scientific explanation that can help solve this issue. When you call it RNM, the same will be done to you as to Mr. Akwei (calling you something you are not and sadistically disabling you with pills).
Critical thinking
Where does reliable, research-based knowledge come from? From universities and professional R&D labs—not from speculation or personal theories.
State of the art in Bidirectional BCI
A science-based explanation, grounded in Carnegie Mellon University research, defines a Bidirectional Brain-Computer Interface as a system where a computer interacts with the brain. The only novel extension is its ability to function remotely.
It’s the non-invasive BCI type, not an implanted BCI. The software running on the computer is a sense and respond system. The sense and respond system is an artificial brain (see Sentient (intelligence analysis system) for illustration). Artificial brain is a reasoning engine (rules engine) based on the forward chaining algorithm for situational awareness and backward chaining algorithm to execute actions that advance situations toward achieving goals/objectives entered by its administrators. It has a command/function that an administrator can use to weaponize the device for a clandestine sabotage against any person. It’s not from Tesla, it’s a black project from an R&D lab of some organization for black operations that needs it to do surveillance, sabotages and assassinations with a plausible deniability.
You need good quality information that is empirically validated, and such information comes from a university or from an R&D lab. It won’t come from your own explanations because you are not empirically validating them which means you aren’t using the scientific method to discover new knowledge (it’s called basic research).
Goal: Detect a Bidirectional BCI extended to work from a distance (it’s called applied research, solving a problem using existing good quality information that is empirically validated)
Strategy: Continuous improvement of Knowledge Management (knowledge transfer/sharing/utilization from university courses to the community) to come up with hypotheses + experimentation with Muse2 to test your hypotheses and share when they are proved).
This strategy can use existing options as hypotheses which is then an applied research. Or, it can come up with new, original hypotheses and discover new knowledge by testing them (which is basic research). It can combine both as needed.
Carnegie Mellon University courses of Biomedical Engineering (BME)
Basics (recommended - make sure you read):
42665 | Brain-Computer Interface: Principles and Applications:
Intermediate stuff (optional - some labs to practice):
2. 42783 | Neural Engineering laboratory - Neural engineering involves the practice of using tools we use to measure and manipulate neural activity: https://www.coursicle.com/cmu/courses/BMD/42783/
Expert stuff (only if you want to know the underlying physics behind BCI):
3. 18612 | Neural Technology: Sensing and Stimulation (this is the physics of brain cells, explaining how they can be read from and written into) https://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/skkelly/18819e/18819E_Syllabus_F12.pdf
You have to read those books to facilitate knowledge transfer from the university to you.
With the above good quality knowledge that is empirically validated, the Bidirectional BCI can be likely detected (meaning proved) and in the process, new knowledge about it can be discovered.
Purchase a cheap unidirectional BCI device for experiments at home
Utilize all newly gained knowledge from the above books in practice to make educated guesses based on the books and then empirically validate them with Muse2. After it is validated, share your good quality, empirically validated information about the undisclosed Bidirectional BCI with the community (incl. the steps to validate it).
Python Project
Someone who knows Python should try to train an AI model to detect when what you hear is not from your ear drums. Here is my initial code: https://github.com/michaloblastni/insultdetector You can try this and send me your findings and improvements.
How to do research
Basic research makes progress by doing a literature review regarding a phenomenon, then identifying main explanatory theories, making new hypotheses and conducting experiments to find what happens. When new hypotheses are proved the existing knowledge is extended. New findings can be contributed back to extend existing theories.
In practice, you will review existing scientific theories that explain i.e. the biophysics behind sensing and stimulating brain activity, and you will try to extend those theories by coming up with new hypotheses and experimentally validating them. And then, you will repeat the cycle to discover more new knowledge. When it's a lot of iterations, you need a team.
In applied research, you start with a problem that needs solving. You do a literature review and study previous solutions to the problem. Then, you should synthesize a new solution from the existing ones, and it should involve extending them in a meaningful way. Your new solution should solve the problem in some measurably better way. You have to demonstrate what your novel solution does better i.e. by measuring it, or by proving it with some other way.
In practice, you will do a literature review of past designs of Bidirectional BCI and make them your design options. Then, you will synthesize a new design option from all the design options you reviewed. The new design will get you closer toward making a Bidirectional BCI work from a distance. Then, you will repeat the cycle to improve upon your design further until you eventually reach the goal. When it's a lot of iterations, you need a team.
Using a Bidirectional BCI device to achieve synthetic telepathy
How to approach learning, researching and life
At the core, the brain is a biological neural network. You make your own connections in it stronger when you repeatedly think of something (i.e. while watching an expert researcher on youtube). And your connections weaken and disconnect/reconnect/etc. when you stop thinking of something (i.e. you stop watching an expert on how to research and you start watching negative news instead).
You train yourself by watching/listening/hanging out with people, and by reading about/writing about/listening to/doing certain tasks, and also by other means.
The brain has a very limited way of functioning because when you stop repeatedly thinking of something it soon starts disappearing. Some people call it knowledge evaporation. It’s the disconnecting and reconnecting of neurons in your biological neural network. Old knowledge is gone and new knowledge is formed. It’s called neuroplasticity. It’s the ability of neurons to disconnect, connect elsewhere, etc. based on what you are thinking/reading/writing/listening/doing.
Minimize complexity by starting from the big picture (i.e. a theory that explains a phenomenon). Then, proceed and do problem solving with a top-down decomposition into subproblems. Focus only on key information for the purpose of each subproblem and skip other details. Solve separate subproblems separately.
