Operating in hushed tones over forbidden tomes, The Department of _______ has never been formally acknowledged. And Benthic has certainly not been allowed to offer tutelage. Until now.
Starting June 10th and lasting until the end of August, welcome to a once-a-week Fallen London text RP. Your not-so-humble instructor, The Ex-Disgraced Academic, will be taking on students. Of course it's legal.
Of course you're not in any danger.

Choosing the Right Course After 12th: A Bachelor Business Program
Completing Class 12 is a turning point that marks the beginning of one of the most important decisions in a student’s academic journey—choosing the right undergraduate course. At this stage, both students and parents often feel overwhelmed by the wide range of courses after 12th. From traditional academic degrees to career-focused programs, the options are vast.
The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is one of the most promising choices for students who want a strong foundation in business, management, and leadership.
Why is BBA One of the Best Courses?
In recent years, the best courses after intermediate have included programs that lead directly to employment, offer real-world skills, and allow for diverse career paths. The BBA ticks all these boxes. It equips students with knowledge of business operations, marketing, human resources, and financial management—skills that are relevant across industries.
Unlike other general degrees that may take longer to translate into job opportunities, the BBA prepares students for roles like Business Analyst, Marketing Executive, HR Manager, and even Entrepreneur. Whether you're planning to join a corporate setup or start your own venture, this course gives you the tools to succeed.
Career-Focused Content for Commerce Students
Many students from the commerce stream explore degrees like B.Com, CA, CS, or BMS. The after 12th commerce courses list is often filled with options that are more theoretical or finance-focused. While these programs have their advantages, the BBA stands out because of its practical approach. It combines business theory with real-world application, making it a smarter choice for students who want to enter the workforce with job-ready skills.
While academic programs like BA in English or B.Sc in IT are great for students interested in research or subject mastery, the BBA is tailored for those seeking a professional edge. In the growing pool of best bachelor courses after 12th, the BBA continues to shine due to its adaptability. It’s a versatile degree that opens doors in marketing, sales, operations, banking, consulting, and more.

Understanding the Entry Requirements
As you prepare for college applications, it’s important to know the documents required for UG admission. Keep your 10th and 12th mark sheets, transfer and migration certificates, ID proof like Aadhaar or PAN, and passport-sized photographs for the admission.
Before you apply, it helps to be clear on the business degree requirements . Most institutions accept students from any stream—Commerce, Arts, or Science—if they’ve passed Class 12 from a recognised board. A minimum of 50% aggregate marks is usually expected, although the exact percentage may vary from college to college. Some institutes may conduct entrance tests or interviews, while many online programs do not require them.
When applying for a BBA, students often ask about the business administration degree requirements. These are usually straightforward. You should have completed your higher secondary education (10+2) and have basic proficiency in English. Prior knowledge of business studies is helpful but not mandatory. What matters most is your interest in the subject and your willingness to develop analytical and communication skills.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right path after 12th is more than just picking a course—it’s about building the foundation for your future. While there are many courses after intermediate to consider, the BBA stands out for its practical orientation, broad career scope, and professional value.
Whether taken as a full-time program or through online courses after intermediate, it offers a well-rounded education that prepares students to thrive in today’s competitive world. With the BBA, you're not just earning a degree—you're stepping into the world of business with confidence.
Explore your interests, understand your goals, and don’t hesitate to choose a path that aligns with your aspirations.

Yeah, more AU/fanfic drawings
Man I'm already liking drawing them-
Hallucination Steve reference :D! (The silly Who Torments Bill in Dreams)

He has some differences from normal Steve such as:
Its limbs are a little darker blue (like his arms and legs).
Her hat is black with pink/purple.
He has the wound from Ford's gun that he got during the weirdmagedon, but he hides it with his shirt.
Its eye is always small, as well as a darker shade of blue.
It's simply Bill's conscience tormenting him to push away everyone who loves him...
I plan to make it better a type of AU(?) idk, I am enjoying developing it beyond a simple One-short 🕴️
Bonus:

Creator of the idea: @meraki-sunset (also creator of the AU "Steve was there")

bunter keeping peter from being swallowed up by an evil bog with the kind of hysterical strength otherwise only known by mothers deadlifting cars to save their tender babes is something that can actually be so personal
#lord peter wimsey#mervyn bunter#so jigencore of him honestly. if lupin or peter were inside a irrevocably burning house jigen and bunter would be running#directly and determinedly into the fire to get to their personal Little Guy and that's just the way it is#with the slight distinction that I think bunter might genuinely and uncomplicatedly be *gentle gasp* straight (??? listen i KNOW)#I'm only just about to start book 3 so my opinion is by no means conclusive or comprehensive of course. but those are my vibes#you know how rarely and hesitantly I bestow the 'heterosexual' headcanon upon a beloved blorbo but I think this is one such situation#his attachment and devotion to his silly lil guy seems to come from some far deeper and less readily explicable source#than any such humdrum motives as human sexuality or romantic feeling however sincere could account for lol#it's not exactly parental but sometimes it feels like peter has two moms. his mom. and bunter who actually does most of the mom stuff lol#(or arguably also the wife stuff if we start to look uncomfortably deeply into the overlapping roles in traditional gender politics)#also wrapped up soooo much class stuff and the politics of caretaking physical AND emotional inherent in that#don't worry tho I am seeing rampant queercoding in plenty of other places lol (can we TALK about parker marrying peter's sister.#like ok king. I'm sure that means nothing. also everything about sir impey biggs. what a delight of a character I'm obsessed with him)#(one thing I really noted in clouds of witness is that denver's valet doesn't note Anything about his employer's mail or general mood#can you IMAGINE for even a second bunter not being on top of all of peter's correspondence. not attuned to his emotional state#or interested in his well-being at any moment in time. no you cannot. that is a thing that just would not happen.#I suppose denver does not have the sheer pathetic sad wet cat energy peter has that awakens the protective instinct in people lmao#I jest but I do have deeper thoughts about for all the fantasy of financial independence and freedom from worry he represents#wimsey is right from the getgo a character defined by his vulnerability and interconnectedness -- in being dependent#on the people in his life to help him manage his mental health. he is so fundamentally not a lone detective he's so deeply entrenched#in a social and societal context right from the beginning!!! he seems lonely in many ways but he NEEDS people around him#in a way and with a urgent fragility I feel is rare in the genre and with the tropes at play. and bunter#is in many ways the emotional center of that here in the early days. he keeps peter's world together more than anyone. fascinating stuff#(peter holding on to parker's trenchcoat at the end of whose body hit me so tenderly right behind the ribs my god)

@sockdooe, This is the full original image:

According to the Tumblr post I originally snagged it from, it's an early piece of promotional artwork, meant to depict Keith as the series's central character. Shiro is shoved into the background, presumably to illustrate that he was intended to fulfill a Doomed Mentor role.
#Correspondence.#sockdooe#Takashi Shirogane#Shiro#You're nothingness but shining and everywhere at once.#Allura#You're everything and everyone who is or ever was.#Hunk Garrett#Half-Galra White Savior Keith#Pidge Holt#Katie Holt#Lance McClain#Voltron: Legendary Defender#It IS a really nice piece with a ton of personality but I hate a lot of what it represents.#Specifically how Allura is just sort of thrown in there like an awkward Token Female when she's one of the most important people in the#entire series.#And of course the sidelining and eventual nerfing of Shiro because the writers simply HAD to get him out of the way to achieve their#desired team line-up.#Until they were delivered the ultimate reality check in the form of an order from the higher-ups that they couldn't permanently kill a#popular character who also happens to be a gay man#leaving them scrambling like the clowns they were to figure out how to reintegrate him into the story.#Then the voice actor for *their* 'Chosen One' had scheduling conflicts that made him unavailable to them for a significant chunk of time.#Call me petty but I call that karma.#If they hadn't been dead set on killing Shiro they could have avoided the entire ridiculous clone plot because he still would have been#a member of the team and easily able to step back into his previous role of Black Paladin had Steven Yeun's outside job commitments#unavoidably necessitated Keith being M.I.A. for a period.#But I expect too much of showrunners who couldn't handle having a disabled main lead and exploited his sexuality for internet brownie#points despite having every intention of killing him and keeping him dead.

There are no wolves in England.
Modernity, and its need for land killed their home, and in consequence killed them too.
The people of Transylvania live with their legends at their front door, covering their necks with rosaries, and prayers. Closing windows, and hanging flowers. Less another life gets taken by that Evil Being whose eyes now point beyond their borders. A young english man was the last victim, who knows if his visage now walks in those forests, waiting for an unsuspecting traveler like he was.
There was something Inhuman aboard on the Demeter. It killed the crew, and pushed the captain to the edge of humanity, yet he held his head high, and made himself deserving of honor among the sailors of Whitby in death. All proud of the captain who completed his duty to the end.
"It almost seems as though the captain had been seized with some kind of mania before he had got well into blue water, and that this had developed persistently throughout the voyage."
A huge, unknown dog jumps from the tragedy of the Demeter, and hides in the shadows. Because it couldn't be anything else than a dog, there are no wild canines in England.
The log of the captain doesn't mention a dog. However, it is weirdly filled with superstitions.
Something, a horrible unknown beast is killing the poor dogs. We must do something! What if it gets the poor dog that left the Demeter in such a hurry, it might get hurt!
Even the oldest people in Whitby laugh at their legends. Only constructed to bring in tourists who are curious about them.
They could be true! Says an old sailor, but we don't need those anymore. There is no need to put rosaries on our necks, nor lock our doors.
After all there are no wolves in England.
#Modernity may protect us from modern danger#But what do the people of Whitby do against an ancient evil? It's something imaginary of course#Something something don't think about legends as something of the ignorant past#You don't know when those things that your grandparents told you may knock at your door#dracula daily#dracula#whitby correspondent#the demeter

Halenthir scenario where they get married for tax benefits (in a platonic good friends sort of way) and fall in love long distance via sending each other letters with ideas on how to best leverage their marriage for tax evasion.
#Haleth has never paid taxes before moving to brethil#And is FUMING about the idea. So she sends a letter to Caranthir who mentioned something about *evading* taxes#In this setting I guess they part on good friendship terms#She visits him for a crash course in tax evading and they get drunk and someone mentions marriage giving you tax benefits#They wake up the next day and decide “you know what. Let’s actually get married for tax evasion purposes. It would be hilarious”#Up to you whether they get married in the elven way or just in the human way#Haleth fucks off back to brethil with a bunch of gifts from Caranthir like “bye bestie” and he’s like “👍. Bye bestie.”#And they strike up a proper correspondence#Because they’re married obviously#not because they’re having fun talking about loopholes in the tax code#That would be ridiculous. Obviously they are writing each other erotica.#All of Caranthir’s brothers find out because Caranthir ticks married on his tax return#Maglor voice: YOU GOT MARRIED? AND YOU DIDNT INVITE US?#Caranthir voice: It was pretty low-key. Now tell me. Did Fingolfin cry upon seeing how I leveraged my marriage for tax concessions.#Literally all his brothers: various sounds of sudden realisation this is a tax scheme#half of them don’t even believe haleth is a real person. She might have just been made up for tax reasons#Obviously this leads to a comedy of errors and classic finwean snooping#at one point Haleth hits one of Caranthir’s (half) cousins with a shovel for snooping#claims her name isn’t haleth (despite all her people calling her Haleth) and dares them to call her out on it#they can’t btw she is terrifying#silmarillion#the silmarillion#tolkien#caranthir#morifinwe#haleth of the haladin

I bring you not very good news: Nancy Goldstone wrote a double biography on Elisabeth and Empress Eugenie, to be published on February 6 of next year.

After reading @vivelareine's review of Goldstone's book on Marie Antoinette I simply do not trust this author is a good researcher, and while I won't judge this book until it's out, I can't help but being very wary already. The synopsis alone doesn't give me much hope:
From the acclaimed author of In the Shadow of the Empress comes the thrilling chronicle of two of the most influential and glamorous women in nineteenth-century Europe—Elisabeth, empress of Austria, and Eugénie, empress of France—and their efforts to rule amid the scandal, intrigue, tragedy, and violence of their era.
When they married Emperors Franz Joseph and Napoleon III, respectively, Elisabeth of Austria and Eugénie of France became two of the most famous women on the planet. Not only were they both young and beautiful—becoming cultural and fashion icons of their time—but they played a pivotal role in ruling their realms during a tempestuous era characterized by unprecedented political and technological change.
Fearless, adventurous, and independent, Elisabeth and Eugénie represented a new kind of empress—one who rebelled against tradition and anticipated and embraced modern values. Yet both women endured hardship in their private and public lives. Elisabeth was plagued by a mother-in-law who snatched her infant children away and undermined her authority at court. Eugénie’s husband was an infamous philanderer who could not match the military prowess of his namesake. Between them, Elisabeth and Eugénie were personally involved in every major international confrontation in their turbulent century, which witnessed thrilling technological advances, as well as revolutions, assassinations, and wars.
With her characteristic in-depth research and jump-off-the-page writing, Nancy Goldstone brings to life these two remarkable women, as Europe goes through the convulsions that led up to the international landscape we recognize today.
You see, I don't think it's crazy to pair up Elisabeth and Eugenie in a biography if your focus is going to be their queenship. Because they were very different as empresses, and I'd love a comparative study on why and how was that possible. Yet the synopsis is implying they were similar? How was Elisabeth personally involved in every major international confrontation? She was only personally involved in the Compromise, every other event she only reacted to (if even). Meanwhile Eugenie actively tried to participate in the politics of France and influence her husband (successfully in many cases, I believe).
The "domineering mother-in-law" part also worries me. Unsere liebe Sisi's been out since 2008, there's no excuse to not give Sophie a more nuanced portrayal.
But well, authors usually don't write the synopsis of their books, so I won't read more into it than what I've done already. I truly hope this biography isn't terrible because we don't need to add one more book to the already giant pile of books about Elisabeth that are filled with myths and misinformation.
#sorry for the negativity i just keep expecting translations on books about elisabeth and her family that already exist#and no one seems to be interested in doing it! i want Valerie's diary i want correspondance i want biographies on sophie#we are never going to have a good biography written in english if the primary sources are ignored for being in german#also I need a crash course on eugenie lol someone recommend me a good biography on her#empress elisabeth of austria#empress eugenie of the french#historian: nancy goldstone

So... I was checking out this "Astro-Herbalism mini-course". And I have thoughts. But not because of astrology, or it's intersection with herbalism. Because of the need that some people have on interpreting every single cultural framework as one singular all-encompassing thing. It's nonsense. And it bothers me because It turns your interpretation of literally anything into nonsense.
I think it's something people unconsciously learn to expect when interacting with religion or spirituality first because of cultural christianity, in the west. Particularly through the way most people are exposed to the bible. Uncritical. Most people take for unshakeable truth that the bible is one sacred text, passed down to humanity by God himself, and that it is perfect. No corrections, no biases, no nothing. It's one system, one perfect system. And that's plain wrong. There's multiple authors to the different texts of the bible that come from entirely different sociohistorical contexts, with entirely different rhetorical goals to their writing, and thus the interpretation of the text requires understanding that past sociohistorical context as best as is possible for us in the present. Which is why bible scholars exist. It's not one unified voice throughout and it is not one system. It's man-made literature, part of human culture, and it's subject to human flaws. If you don't take that into account when you're reading the bible, your interpretation of the texts isn't so much a reading of the text as it is an imposition of your own modern ideas into a text that never had anything to do with any of them in the first place.
Then, when they approach other cultures, other kinds of cultural knowledge, separate and different from christianity, they approach it with the same underlying culturally christian idea as their foundation of how to interpret other sacred texts. "This is sacred knowledge gifted to us by God (or the Gods) and it must be perfect, and unified in it's interpretation." And that, again, is bullshit. There is no reason under the vast Heavens why the cultural interpretations and systems of "East and West" or "North and South" must both be part of some "universal plan of God/s" bigger than humans' own minds and thoughts. That's cultural christianity. And even imperialistic thought. Must consume, must absorbe anything different into our own system type of imperialistic.
Trying to bring two systems together to complement each other, practicing them side by side, because you may find they give different answers to your different needs, I understand. But that is very different to what's happening here.
Saying that "jing, qi and shen" equals or corresponds to the "fixed, mutable and cardinal" modes of astrology? That's just doing both systems a disservice. If you interpret the western modes of astrology, or any concept from western astrology, through taoism, you're misunderstanding them. If you interpret any taoist concept through western astrological terms, you're misunderstanding them. You're imposing western ideas into a taoist concept and viceversa. In the end, you did not manage to convey to your audience what the astrological modes are, nor what the three treasures of taoism are, because both were grossly misrepresented in an attempt to force-unify them under one single system.
It's not all the same. And it doesn't have to be. Let cultural practices have differences, historically they have always had them, and they should continue to have them if we want to represent them faithfully and respectfully. Let people find medicine in their own ways, let them see the wide diversity of practices, beliefs and traditions, and choose what heals them based on their own particular needs and history. Diversity of practices and ideas is a good thing. Differences are a good thing. You don't need a single overarching theory, in fact, you can't have a single "theory of everything" for cultural phenomena without disrespecting the source cultural material.
#herbalism#astrology#medical astrology#my updates#btw this is the same course that was assigning Kreb's cycle correspondences to astrology#i... don't know what i was expecting#but it sure wasn't that#I know very few herbalists who successfully integrate some form of astrology into it#without falling into this type of mess#so I know it's possible to do it right#but it's so exhausting to see the majority of people having this sort of butchering approach#witchblr#<- could benefit from giving this a read
