Sunderland App Development: Good user experience
Tumblr media
Good user experience
Apps should reach for effectiveness and efficiency through a good user experience. Only in this way will generate in the consumers a series of emotions that give him confidence to repeat. Therefore, usability is a fundamental mechanism when it comes to customer loyalty in the field of mobile applications.
How, when and where?
It is very important to have the context in which the application will be used: Should the application be used in motion? Or will users be able to interact with it from home? All these aspects will determine the degree of usability that an app must submit.
Users can find more Mobile App Development on Free Classified Website in United Kingdom for many cities in United Kingdom like: Birmingham Mobile App Development, London Mobile App Development, Manchester Mobile App Development, Leeds Mobile App Development, Nottingham Mobile App Development, Glasgow Mobile App Development, and users can Post Free Classified Ads in United Kingdom on these classified websites.
To know the context of the application it is equally important to know the target audience to which it is directed, knowing its behavior in the mobile environment.
The higher the usability of an app, the more likely it is that it will remain installed on mobile devices where it has been downloaded. In this way, the ASO positioning will not be penalized by a high number of uninstalls. A good development of the application and the integration with the own gestures of each operating system are two factors that will contribute to a good level of usability and that, therefore, will facilitate the user experience.
Users can find more App Development in England on Free Classified Website in England for many cities in England like: App Development in Birmingham, App Development in London, App Development in Manchester, Sunderland App Development, Leicester App Development, Coventry App Development, Wolverhampton App Development, Stoke On Trent App Development, and users can Post Free Classified Ads in England on these classified websites.

Week 4 - Gimme the Mic
In class:
In fourth week, I explored the topic of microphone hardware. Microphone hardware is interesting, and it could be implemented in many exciting ways. This means that microphone could be used simply as a virtual assistant like Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa. The other way of implementing a microphone could be to use it to record sounds or voices and manipulate them by distorting the sound in different ways. In this week I also learned about game mechanics by listening the TED talk by Seth Priebatsch – CEO of SCVNGR. Learning about game mechanics helped me to understand how to motivate players as well as how correct use of game mechanics can increase the engagement among the users.
Final app idea:
The app is based on user’s GPS location. In the game there will be implemented map of a city (for a demo it will be just Coventry city, but later in development cities across the globe can be added). On the map there will be pins that will represent each historical locations or sights. The main purpose of the app is to encourage youngsters to learn history about their own city as well as other cities in more exciting and encouraging way. Players will be able to walk, drive or use public transport to travel to these places to visit them. For visiting these places players will be rewarded with fixed amount of XP, which will be crucial to level up. The further the place will be from city centre the more XP player will be able to get. At the location player will be asked to check-in to confirm that they visited the place. At the location players will be able to play the side quests, which will reward the player with small amount of XP. The side quests may require player to either take a picture of a place/selfie or answering the short quiz or shaking their phone. Pinpointed locations on the map will have a countdown, so players will be limited how many times they can visit a place. Game will also have implemented leaderboard system, so players will be able to see their progress. Players will be able to see their level as well a number of visited places. Once per week there will be a time event that will last certain amount of time e.g. 12 hours. This event will require the player to be at specific location to complete a certain task for XP reward. The location will be changed every week. There also will be competition held each week for the most creative photo taken. The winner of the weekly competition could be decided by doing a poll, so other players will be able to vote for the best photo in their opinion. The prize for the winner will be a discount or a voucher to the local gift shop.
Practical class:
During the practical class this week I used again the p5.js library to implement some code. The use of microphone was used to visualise how loud the sounds made by us are. It was a lot of fun in class, because I tried to beat other classmates scores.
Final thoughts:
After learning how to implement the microphone hardware into an app as well as after doing research in terms of ideas I came to conclusion that I am not going to have it in my game app. At this stage of my game app development, I simply didn’t saw any potential use of it that will fit in my final idea. I also didn’t want to throw too many things into my app, so I simply avoided overloading myself with work.

Ultimate Guide to Transport Around the UK for International Students
The UK is a magnificent country with a welcoming culture for international students. It is home to numerous well-known and infamous cities, as well as significant academic institutions and historic landmarks. Birmingham is well renowned for its gorgeous green meadows, Coventry is well recognised for its uniform castles, and London is well known for its red taxis and amazing transportation system. Each year, some 750,000 international students come to the UK to study and jobs.
Tumblr media
The UK has a larger geographic region than other close-by countries, increasing commute options. Nevertheless, after thorough testing and implementation, the UK government developed a modernised transportation system that enables every traveller to reach both urban and rural locations in the smallest amount of time.
One problem with travelling to the UK is that you might need to choose from various possibilities. Aircraft, trains, trams, taxis, ferries, and other ancillary services are just a few transportation options available in the UK. Due to price variations during peak hours, students considerably profit from the fact that both private and public organisations offer these services.
Travelling around the UK by tube
If you live and work in London, your daily journey undoubtedly includes the London Underground, sometimes known as the tube. It is a recognisable aspect of London life and is managed by TfL under the direction of the city's mayor. London has a metro system, but other UK cities do as well. Liverpool, Glasgow, and Newcastle all have underground networks.
These metro routes provide an efficient and quick alternative to the local bus and train network for commuters and residents in these locations.
You can pay for your transportation in London in many ways. These consist of:
Purchasing tickets at the ticket window or machine at the station.
Using an 'Oyster card'.
Utilising a contactless credit or debit card at the ticket barrier.
If you use the London tube frequently, an Oyster card can be helpful. You can either purchase an Oyster at a tube station or sign up for one online and have it sent by mail. To use a new card, you must first purchase one for £5. This may be topped off using the TfL website, the Oyster contactless app (available on iOS and Android), the top-up machines, or at a Tfl ticket counter.
You can purchase single tickets and group tickets in addition to using your Oyster card or contactless debit or credit card, which is how most people use the metro (minimum of 10 people). The average entrance or departure fare is £4.9–6 in London. Different ticket providers offer discounts to international students under the student card.
UK tubes timings
The busiest hours for tube service are on weekdays from 16:00 to 19:00 (excluding holidays) and on weekends from 06:00 to 09:30. If you travel during these times, your cost will be higher.
While there are variations in scheduling between zones, most metros in the UK run from 5:00 to 0:00. Weekend 24-hour night services are offered on a few lines. To find your route, look at the metro website. Walking between some Underground stations in London is frequently quicker and easier than using the tube.
Tips for using the tubes
To ensure precise pickup and exit stations, check out TfL's metro routes.
Avoid travelling during rush or peak hours to save money and avoid paying extra for a little distance.
To take advantage of long-term student savings, consider purchasing monthly or 6-month passes.
Travelling around the UK by bus
The local bus is the most well-liked kind of public transit in the UK, whether international students are in a metropolis or the countryside. The fact that buses are the most widely used mode of public transportation is not surprising. In the preceding year, there were 1.5 billion regional bus journeys made. However, there can be considerable regional variations in bus travel's effectiveness, price, and quality.
In certain cities, like London and Reading, the bus system, for instance, is managed as a not-for-profit by the local government. This allows for the ability to maintain low costs and high-quality services. Routes are run by private companies in other areas, nevertheless. This substantially raises bus fares, especially in remote areas.
It is common to let the driver know your destination before getting on the bus so they can make a ticket for you. The cost of the ticket usually reflects how far you'll be travelling.
In London, there is no need to check out a trip card before exiting a bus. Before getting off the bus, observe what your other passengers are doing because you might need to do so outside the capital. There is free Wi-Fi available on a few bus routes. The average bus fare is between £2.40 and $6.
Types of bus tickets
There are various ticket options available on UK buses:
Single tickets: a ticket good for only one direction of travel
Return tickets: These are good for one trip to one place and back.
Day tickets: These are great for travellers because they allow for unlimited excursions using the bus operator's services on the day of purchase.Group
Group Ticket: Family-friendly, group tickets often cover up to six individuals and can save you money over purchasing individual tickets.
Larger towns and cities have more buses that allow contactless payments inside the vehicle. You may only be able to pay with a contactless credit/debit card or a local transportation card, like London's Oyster card, in certain locations, like London.
Tips for using the bus service in the UK
Two well-known brands among UK bus service operators are National Express and However, purchasing tickets online through the National Express website greatly reduces the cost of transportation, and for sleeper buses, you can apply for a Megabus Gold card.
To avoid any last-minute hassles, get your bus tickets well in advance.
It might not be able to make contactless payments in more rural regions. The bus stop/station, however, might have a ticket machine. As an alternative, bring cash to avoid disappointment or call your local operator in advance. Keep in mind that certain bus operators do not provide change, so bring coins whenever you can.
If they apply for an Oyster photocard, full-time international students in London who are 18 or older can save 30%. You can sign up for a Stagecoach student card if you're not in London.
Airports for travelling in the UK
Flying into the UK is a reasonably simple process. Over 40 airports are spread out over the country. These include domestic airports, which offer vital transportation for locals, especially those serving the numerous island settlements in the UK.
In the UK, airports are often kept up well and provide a variety of stores, eateries, and pubs to check out as you wait for your trip. Public transportation, including trams, trains, coaches, and local buses, connects all of the major airports in the UK to their respective cities. Six airports serve London, however, only London Heathrow and London City are connected to the subway system. The other people can be reached by coach and train. The cost of air travel varies depending on the length of the trip.
Tips for travelling  in the UK through the airport
Numerous train stations are close to every airport in London. When you arrive in the city, make sure to get in touch with Gatwick Express or another well-known agency to arrange for accommodations.
Allow plenty of time before travelling to the airport to avoid having to skip potentially illegal security checks.
Your identity documents, passport, and visa should all be carried and stored securely.
Travelling around the UK via train
The UK has a lengthy and rich history when it comes to travelling by train. These lovely miniature trains are adjacent to many lovely UK train stations, like Bristol Temple Meads, Huddersfield, and London St. Pancras International, ensuring quick and safe travel following flights throughout the nation. The maximum train system concept put out by the UK government has been well received by some train companies, including National Rail, Chiltern Railways, and LNER.
The average price is reasonable, depending on how far you have to travel.
Tips for travelling  in the UK through the train
London St. Pancras, Ebbsfleet, and Ashford are the three principal international train stations in the United Kingdom. For £30, purchase a Railcard. On each train ticket purchase, you are entitled to a 1/3rd discount.
Make your reservation as soon as you can.
Some of these offer complimentary food as well as extra benefits like WiFi or internet access.
Train timetable
UK trains do not run continuously; they normally stop between 1:00 and 5:00. On the National Rail or Trainline websites, you can examine the first and last trains of the morning and evening if you're unsure of when your train will arrive or depart.
Prices are cheaper throughout the week and higher on the weekends. You can find out how much your journey will cost by going to the Eurostar website.
Travelling around the UK via tram
You can always board the tram in place of the local train or bus if those options aren't sufficient for you. There are tram systems in some UK cities, where light trams travel along tracks on both segregated and public roads.
There is a tram network in each of the following locations in the UK:
Manchester
Nottingham
Sheffield
Tyne and Wear
West Midlands
Edinburgh
London
Ticket price and timetable of Tram in the UK
The cost of tickets varies based on the city. For instance, London has a much more straightforward pricing structure than Manchester, which bases charges on the zones you pass through. The cost of a tram, however, is comparable to that of a bus.
When boarding a tram in London, you can use your contactless credit or debit card or Oyster card. However, contactless cards are the preferred form of payment outside of London. You may need to purchase a ticket in advance of boarding in some places, such as Edinburgh.
Trams typically run in Manchester from 06:00 to 00:00 on Monday through Saturday and from 07:00 to 00:00 on Sunday. London's trams typically operate from 5:00 to 1:00 on Monday through Saturday and from 07:00 to 1:00 on Sundays.
If you are outside of these cities, you can verify with your local tram operator online. You can calculate your tram trip in London or Manchester online.
Take a taxi to travel around the UK
The Black/Red cab driving method used in Great Britain is renowned for providing the quickest on-ground travel system. In the UK, most cities offer a taxi service that is available close to every City Center. If you are an international student in the nation, taxi drivers are an excellent way to travel.

RoadHow partners with Midven to change driver risk and improve road safety.
RoadHow partners with Midven to change driver risk and improve road safety
Road safety app steers towards success following £500,000 investment
The investment will support RoadHow in the roll out of its road safety app.
Solihull based RoadHow, an app designed to help drivers to become safer and more aware on the road, while potentially saving them money on their insurance, has secured £500k from Midlands Engine Investment Fund (MEIF), managed by venture capital firm Midven (part of the Future Planet Capital group).
Tumblr media
The software platform and app, which has been in development for two years, can be used by motorists to test their driving knowledge and aid further learning. Insurers will be able to review and monitor the data collected and offer incentives or discounts on car insurance, adding a new set of data into the insurance pricing and underwriting decision making process.
Learner drivers can also use the RoadHow app to practice DVSA Theory Test revision questions. It is the only app on the market that allows learner drivers to build their knowledge in the form of a series of AI-calculated scores as they work towards passing their test, with insurance providers ready to offer premium incentives for drivers who have used RoadHow.
The funding is set to support the business’s growth plans, with RoadHow set to welcome new staff over the next 12 months, supporting sales and marketing, as well as software development and tech.
The app is multi-faceted, and also functions to offer users discounts on hundreds of popular brands as part of its RoadHow Rewards scheme. For a subscription fee, users can enjoy money-off or cashback on purchases made on the likes of Apple, Nike, Expedia, M&S, John Lewis and many more.
RoadHow is the brainchild of Adrian and Anne Ryan. Both have strong backgrounds in multiple technology sectors, having successfully built and sold global aircraft data and records management platform, FLYdocs, prior to developing RoadHow.
Adrian Ryan, Chief Executive Officer at RoadHow, says:
“For too long, the insurance industry has had limited visibility of driver knowledge and skills data upon which to base underwriting and pricing decisions. We’re changing that with RoadHow. Through RoadHow, we will be able to provide insurance companies with real data that will create a much stronger relationship for both the insurance company and the driver. We want to reward good behaviour through data.”
Giovanni Finocchio, Investment Director, says:
“’I’m really excited about RoadHow, not only does it have a great idea, but there are two very experienced founders who have not only invested their time but their own money to develop the platform. Adrian and Anne have surrounded themselves with top software developers, but they haven’t forgotten the need to get the product into the market. And for that, they have brought in several senior execs from the insurance world. I’m looking forward to working with the team in the coming months and years. This will be great business offering a great service.”
Grant Peggie, Director at the British Business Bank, said:
“It’s great to see funding from the MEIF is helping to bring new disruptive technology and software to the motor industry, while promoting road safety and education. With the support of Midven and finance from the MEIF, the Solihull business is well-positioned to now roll out its services and unlock growth. It is also set to create new jobs, boosting the Midlands economy.”
Tim Pile, Chair of Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership (GBSLEP) said:
“RoadHow are a hugely ambitious business, and it is fantastic to see their work come to fruition following MEIF funding. Digital technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Augmented Reality (AR) are crucial to GBSLEP’s commitment of becoming a leading region for innovation. By working with our public, private and education partners and taking a collaborative cross-sector approach, we will continue to support businesses such as RoadHow to capitalise on the opportunities created to drive inclusive economic growth.”
The Midlands Engine Investment Fund project is supported financially by the European Union using funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020 and the European Investment Bank.

{ Evaluation }
When I started this module, I was not aware of what to expect. At the first session, when I had to start thinking about the BIO-ART map, I was confused and not really understanding the task, therefore I had to ask for extra explanations and start searching for more information on the internet.
As the BIO-ART was the starting point for the project, once we separated everything in small groups, I decided to focus on herbs and plants. Except the model making workshop, where I created a human figure, I tried to stick with the herbal theme and used leaves and flowers for the printing techniques and even create a cardboard tree.
The model making workshop was the one where I struggled the most. I have tried using armature wire to create the figure, but it took me more time that I expected, and I felt like it was something that required more than a session. I think that maybe if I would try it again and spend some time practicing and creating different figures, I might actually enjoy it.
On the other side, I have really enjoyed the monotypes – the printing technique that transfers the design from a plate onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together, usually using a printing press or etching press.
I was so impressed on the initial workshop, that I decided to book not one, not two, but three extra sessions with Justin Sanders, the workshop tutor. As I am living in Coventry, I spent the time on the road thinking on all the things that I would like to try once in the studio. On the first session, I spent almost five hours in the workshop and I was so impressed to see the result of my work.
I asked Justin what else I could do or try and he suggest me to look into stone lithography. Back at home, I start researching about stone lithography – what is it, how do you do it, how other artists has used this technique – and I was excited to get back in the workshop. I had to wait one more week as the studio was not available then.
The next two sessions, I worked on my stone lithography mini-project and spent hours and hours printing it onto papers of different textures, using negative space and trying more or less ink. I now have over 20 different files and despite being in yet another lockdown, I have tried to put them together on Tumblr the same way I would have liked to display them in an actual exhibition.
Beside these two workshops, I have also participated in the heat transfer and 3D cardboard drawing, but also discover a new world: drawing through coding. As my wife works as a web developer, I was used in seeing programming code, but I didn’t expect to be able to actually draw through coding. Even here, I have tried to stick with the herbal theme and draw several leaves. This is definitely something that I would like to explore more and understand how to create a different way of digital art. Previously, I used to think that digital art can be created only through photography or using software platforms, such as Adobe, but now I understand that digital is a complex field and I would like to learn more about it.
Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the Microscope workshop, but I will try to book some time, if possible, for next semester.
I am more of a visual person, enjoying objects more than words, so the research part of the module was definitely not my favourite part. I do like reading and finding information, but I am not enjoying writing as I prefer to express myself through art, rather than written words. As part of the module, I had to research about artists, exhibitions, drawing and printing techniques but also general concepts, useful apps and “how to”. This definitely helped me improve my researching skills and grow my general and art knowledge, but I feel like I need to spend more time until I will master this skill.
Overall, I enjoyed the module and despite all the restrictions and needing to attend some online sessions only, I tried to learn as much as possible and make the most of the time in the workshop. I learned how to handle success, as I was very proud of the stone lithography  final result and received many congratulations on it, but also how to manage failure, when the model making workshop didn’t turn up as I wanted. I believe the skills I developed during this module, will help me in the next years at University and even further in my career.
