Guys hear me out
A Post-Tangle Tower Story where Grimoire and Sally invite Fifi, Poppy, and Fitz to go see the world and solve cases with them or just stay at wherever they live for a time so they can have a vacation away from TT and process everything that happened while allowing them personal growth
I'm not sure what the age difference is between the duo and trio, but just consider Sally and Grimoire being like older siblings to these 3 young adults who have so much to unpack in response Freya's death

having some Thoughts N Feelings abt elrond & elros + the historical practice of rulers taking children from the families of their tributaries or even their (nominal) allies as hostages
primarily that (1) the Politics of the Fëanorions having the heirs of Fingolfin AND Thingol AND All Three of the Three Houses as their hostages is like… soooo overlooked and underutilized in the fanworks I’ve seen
and (2) i think it would be rlly funny and also fucked-up if most elves are Totally Scandalized And Horrified by this Weird Human Behavior of “hostage-taking” if/when they see it happening in the second & third ages as human settlements & societies in M-E grow & develop, while Elrond is just like, “this is Normal, what are you Talking about”

Being in a law class full of republicans is turning me into raskolnikov
These are some of the dumbest people with no moral compass or self awareness. They will literally contradict themselves within 5 minutes. Theyll be like why should we care about your life if u rob meeee and then be like ohhhghgh we’re not rehabilitating people properly so they recommit, but also we need more cops and swift punishment, but also we need to more resources for victims and give them help, but also we need to put more money into police agencies and funddd them noooo dont defund the police naurrrrr but also OH MY GOD

"The irony is that the less effective the prisons are in reducing crime, the higher the demand for still more imprisonment ... Generations of research have failed to disturb the commonsensical but false view that increased severity of punishment will produce less crime, that increased reliance on imprisonment is to be preferred to other nonincarcerative punishments."

Navigating the Surveillance Landscape: Safety vs. Privacy in Today's America
A Personal Perspective on the Surveillance Society
Impact of Surveillance on Privacy In an era where digital oversight has escalated, my reflections center on the intricate surveillance tapestry that has silently unfurled across our daily lives. This blog is a mosaic of my personal observations and opinions, navigating a world under the persistent gaze of technology.

the thing is, even if you put a security camera on every house, every store, every single possible place in the world, crime would not only continue to happen, it would be reported more often, and would likely lead to crime rates actually going up. no amount of “surveillance state” policies will change the reason crime happens in the first place.
this isn’t just a problem with the uptick in security camera popularity (with things like ring doorbells), but a problem with how the law deals with crime in general. creating more ways to get arrests won’t change the fact that most people who commit crimes are in a position where they often have no other choice.

Deterrence Against Crimes: The mere presence of a security guard can deter potential criminals. When perpetrators see a uniformed guard, they think twice before targeting your business.
Immediate Response: Electronic security systems can alert you to breaches, but a human security guard can act instantly. Their on-site presence ensures that any potential threats or issues are dealt with immediately.
Customer Assurance: Customers feel safer and more at ease when they see a security guard on the premises. Their presence indicates that you prioritize safety, enhancing trust and customer satisfaction.
Handling of Security Breaches: Should an incident occur, a trained security guard knows the correct protocols to follow, whether it's detaining a suspect, liaising with law enforcement, or evacuating the premises.

Crowd Control: For businesses that see a significant influx of people—like shopping malls, concerts, or events—a security guard can manage crowds and ensure orderly conduct, preventing potential chaos or stampedes.
Offer Assistance: Security guards can also provide basic customer service. They can direct people to find products, lead them to specific locations, or even escort employees or customers to their cars late at night.
Emergency Handling: In cases of emergencies—like fires, medical crises, or power failures—a security guard can take charge, guiding people to safety, providing first aid, or liaising with emergency services.

price is already like unofficial dad of 141
-so what would platonic! biological, yan! dad price be like
[i pass a cup of hot cocoa and bag of gold to you]
I’ll take that hot cocoa and bag of gold!
Yandere!Dad!Price
Headcanon
Cw: yandere, platonic relationship, protective!Price, stalking, camera surveillance, tracking, tell me if I missed any.
Wc: 758
Yan!Dad!Price, as a father-figure to 141, is already burdened with the weight of their safety and protection. He protects them as if they were his own, signing away Soap’s misdemeanour and pranks, Gaz’s mischievous personality under the gentle gaze of his, and Ghost’s stand-offish character with war crimes under his belt. Price is fiercely protective of his charge, so he’d be worse with his biological child.
Yan!Dad!Price is possessive, branding you - in his mind - as his, making sure that you’re safe at all times. He’s borderline paranoid at times, his mind going through every enemy he’s made in the past without prejudice, everyone is a danger to his livelihood, meaning you. As a father, he’s much more protective, always worried and conscious of the danger he puts on you when he leaves.
Yan!Dad!Price worries that one day, someone would find you and use you as leverage against him, torture you and throw you back out as revenge for what he’s done to them, or - the worse - keep you for the sake of causing him pain and anguish. As your father, he’s much, much more paranoid than he is with anyone else on his team, especially since your mother’s been missing from your life for a while now, leaving him to care for you and occasionally leaving you at Kate and her wife’s house.
Yan!Dad!Price isn’t scared of getting his hand dirty, he already does it to further the goals and images of powerful men, political figures and to keep the world clean from monsters by becoming one himself. He knows his hands are stained red, an invincible mark following him until he’s either killed, or dies of natural causes —he hopes for the latter. He might not kill innocent people, but he isn’t scared of threatening them, using his power and resources to keep them away from you.
Yan!Dad!Price might be protective, wanting to keep you to himself and locked away from the harsh and dangerous world, but he’s smart and cares enough about you to let you have your freedom. He lets you go out with friends - you’re an adult, you should have the independence and freedom to do some - and travel, but he gives you a curfew and demands he wants you to keep. So far, you’ve followed them and he trusts you to keep doing so. Although he lets you live your life as a young adult: working, going out, meeting friends and enjoying yourself, he keeps an eye on you, he has a tracker installed into your phone and one on you at all times, he has someone watch you through the cameras to follow your every step and report it to him if there’s a sudden change.
Another thing Yan!Dad!Price has, as insurance to your safety, the three boys protecting you. They’re well acquainted with you, often seeing you wandering the base outside of Birmingham with a visitor’s badge and permission to wander wherever you want. You’re as much a part of the TF as the boys, the honorary member that visits them every so often to see how they’re doing when they’re stationed here. Being a year or two younger than Gaz made them feel like you were the baby of the family, the little sibling that they had to protect and care for whenever they could.
Yan!Dad!Price somehow makes it unnoticeable to you that he has a tracker on you or that he has a system to monitor your every action, you even get regular visits from Kate and the boys, coming over to his house. Soap and Ghost always went together, Ghost’s big and broad figure acting as a deterrent to any malicious people and Gaz would go with him, following him back to stay the night. The house had enough room for everyone too, one guest room in the basement, one on the ground floor and another one near the stairs on the second floor.
Yan!Dad!Price is careful, selective with people he lets around you, all for the sake of protecting you. He won;t let you wander too far from him, he won’t let you go where he won’t be able to reach, where he won’t be able to find you. You’re an indispensable part of his life, the joy of his life, the light that brought a smile to his lips after a rough day or mission. You took care of him so he watched over you and kept you safe.

Intimidation Ranking / Yan Sumeru Boys.
Kaveh — 2/10
Like... he's writing your names next to one another in his notebook and drawing a heart around it. Kaveh isn't inspiring much fear in the traditional sense. You find him endearing more than anything. He visibly brightens up when you're around, stares off into the horizon and sighs when you're not. His more socially unacceptable tendencies are kept under lock and key (such as his innumerable blueprints for how he'll build your house when you get married, despite how you're both only friends). His romantic rivals don't have to fear for their lives as much as they would if put up against the others on this list. That being said, he still has his methods for dealing with them. It's more psychological in nature. Once he's cemented himself as an important figure in your life, he'll 'exaggerate the truth' (he thinks the word lying has a negative connotation), about any rivals' negative traits. He does this covertly over increments of time so as not to arouse any suspicion. You couldn't possibly look at Kaveh and suspect any wrongdoing on his part.
Alhaitham — 5/10
Alhaitham is weird because he has the potential to rank high, but he'd rather not go that route if it isn't necessary. Outsourcing to criminals would require extra work. He'd prefer to stay in the realm of legality for convenience's sake, perhaps pushing gray areas, but nothing that'll require a major coverup. Just a little good old-fashioned coercion if you're being stubborn about returning his affections. He's crafty, he needn't get his hands dirty to obtain the outcome he desires. Should you be of an academic inclination, he'll utilize his influence in those spheres to impede your progress. There's no physical evidence so you have no means of retaliation. Given his dispassionate demeanor, people will have a hard time believing you should you tell them about this. Alhaitham himself will utilize a similar tactic should you ever confront him. His sound logic and steady voice make you wonder if you really are imagining everything. It's maddening.
Cyno — 7.5/10
Cyno is a force of nature. Once he's set his sights on you, that's it. While it isn't you who needs to be frightened per se, the same cannot be said for those he deems as questionable influences in your life (basically anyone who isn't him that receives your attention). He has the authority and resources to comb through their entire bloodline for any potential wrongdoings. No one's lived a perfect life, he's bound to find something, even if it just ends with them having to pay a fine. Still, in a highly competitive area like Sumeru, having anything on their record is a death sentence. Rumors start circulating that anyone who hangs out around you is subject to meticulous background checks. No one knows why, but that doesn't matter, the risk alone serves as a sufficient deterrent. If they cheated on a test when they were ten, Cyno is going to find out. The man's nothing if not determined. Cyno genuinely thinks he's doing this in your best interest — his conscience is crystal clear. This adds another layer of formidability because there will be no convincing him to stop.
Wanderer — 9/10
As Scaramouche, it would've been a 10/10, but he's had some character development. Emphasis on the word some. Nahida considers his budding attachment to you a healthy development, especially since you're the first person he's taken an active interest in without her involvement. He's keen on maintaining this innocent, well-meaning façade since he's still under surveillance for his previous crimes. This unintentionally works wonders for him. While he still has a sharp tongue, the fact he actively chooses to be in your general vicinity proves you're special to him. You think he's harmless, if not a touch blunt. He's perpetually hanging around and offering to help with whatever you're up to. You're happy, Nahida's happy, and surprisingly enough, he's happy. This cannot be said for anyone else in your friend group. He increases his unpleasantness when around them, never to an incriminating degree, but just enough to give them pause. They'd rather not deal with him and he's always around you, like a miserable little forcefield that repels any outside force. Wanderer may not be free to wreak havoc anymore, but all that means is that he has to get creative about it. Nahida's lack of omnipotence gives him enough room to slink around. Where there's a will, there's a way.
