BendDAO reaches near new all-time highs on Mutants, BAYC and Azuki loans - Crypto News Gap
Ad BendDAO, the largest NFT lending platform by market cap, hit new all-time highs last month on the backs of 4,399 individual loans, many of them Azukis, Mutants and BAYC.  (Source: Twitter) Twitter user @JKrantz speculated that the sudden all-time high might be because borrowers are getting paid a higher interest to take out loans on their NFTs with the native BEND token, which has seen a…

imagine mechanic!simon fixin’ your car with parts that worth thousands but he doesn’t want your money, he wants something else HEHEHEHEHEHE
HEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHEHEHHEHE right??????? Genius honestly.
mechanic!Simon would do anything for you :( but only when you obey him, be an obedient and listen..... he was doing you a favour by fucking you on top of your broken down shit box while the lads were on their lunch break, he saw how worked up and stressed you were, and you had the audacity to disobey him??? You want to get your car fixed free of charge? well, now you get nothing and he gets to take you however he wants, your job is to stand there and shut up like the good girl his training you to be ;)
Tumblr media
TW: low-key public sex, thigh-fucking, orgasms denial, Si degrades you for being a needy, disobedient girl :( kinda humiliation, mean!Simon, age gap insinuated, Si shoves a dirty rage covered in grease in your mouth bc you won't stfu :(
Mechanic!Simon masterlist
Regular masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You really aren’t well off, the savings you did have are definitely not accessible at the moment.
Your shitty ex had logged into your bank account the second he threw you out :( making sure you had nothing
He would always make you transfer him money for his crypto trading, he did it behind your back regularly meaning he new all of your information including your security passwords >:(
He had drained everything except £2.50 because “that’s all your worth” :((((((((
he was such a dick AHURGG >:(
Like Si promised, he checked out your car the next morning, taking you into the shop even though it was his day off.
Of course Johnny jumped at the opportunity to introduce himself, taking your hand and kissing it softly, wicked smile flashing across his face when he didn’t see a boyfriend accompanying you to the shop. :(((
An easy target in his eyes, you being with Si didn’t even cross his mind, a pretty, delicate thing like you wouldn’t be running around with a beast like Simon….it just didn’t make sense :(
Si stepping in almost immediately when he saw the way Gaz winked at you and licked his teeth, eyeing you up and down like a piece of meat :(
You were HIS….HE found you, nobody else, and that’s how its gonna stay >:(
Maybe a bit of insecurity flared up as well….they were younger then him, more your age….
Johnny was a ball of energy, looked like he could be plastered on the front of some health and fitness magazine and Gaz had a certain charm to him, the type that could make even the most independent women fall to their knees.
They couldn’t be more different to Si’s rough and grumpy demeanour :((((
But the second you clung to his side, quickly turning your face away from them, flushed red and overwhelmed, it all went away :3
His, he didn’t even have to tell you, you clung to him instinctively, ran to him for protection, looked for him when you needed safety ;)))
He wanted nothing more then to take you right there, show them both how he could make you cum in ways they couldn’t, even if they had the best vibrater in the world on their side, they couldn’t give you the satisfaction he could :3
Watch the jealousy and envy in their faces as he praised you for being such a good girl, his good girl :)))
He didn’t have to look at your car to know that it was absolutely rooted, a first week apprentice could see that it would cost thousands of pounds to fix, even then, you wouldn’t be getting the best parts on the market meaning it was only a matter of time before it broke down again and became undriveable :(
Quickly slamming the hood he turns to you with a sympathetic look :(
“Listen lovie, its gonna be at least £2000, and that’s jus’ for ya’ engine alone, I don’ even wanna get inta the rest of it cuz fixin’ it is gonna cost more then the car itself”
With teary eyes you tell him you can’t afford to fix it, let alone buy a new car, its the only real possession you have to your name other then your phone and clothes :((((
You needed a car, you needed a way to get to work and its not like you can afford to take the bus!!!
But don’t worry sweet girl, Si’s gonna make it all better :((
Slowly he lifts you onto the hood and slides his hands up your thighs with a rough groan, that tiny little skirt that he picked out for you this morning was a really good idea ;)
Moving your panties to the side, he drags his thick finger through your folds, a low chuckle leaving his lips as he collects your juices :3
Your cheeks go red at how wet you are :((((( you’re so easy to get going, such a dirty, dirty girl >:(
“Don’ play dumb sweethear’, saw ya’ watchin’ me like a piece of meat, rubbin’ those thighs together like a whore, I know when ma’ girl needs some lovin’”
Pushing his thick fingers into your heat, a small whimper leaving your mouth from the stretch :(
“Quite love, don’t want em’ to hear us do ya’?” A chuckle falling from his lips as he opens you up more, spreading you open and preparing you for another one of his big rough fingers :(((((
Pumping in and out of your wet cunt at an agonisingly slow pace, holding your hips down so you can’t buck or move closer to him :(( try to take more then what his giving you :(
His the one in control, so don’t even THINK about it >:(
You let out a loud squeak when he forcefully pushes a second finger into your tight pussy :((( wet squelching sounds fill the room :(((
The same men staring at you like a piece of meat only moments ago, eating their lunch in the break room at the other end of the shop, completely unaware that Si was having his way with you :(((
Stimulating your clit with his left hand, he looks up at you with a wicked smile
“Don’t ya’ make a noise love, old Johnny boy won’t have a problem watchin’ and im sure ya’ don’t want tha’” >:(
His such a tease :(((((
Begging him for his dick, moans and whimpers getting louder as you squirm with teary eyes :(((
But that’s your biggest mistake…..
You went against his orders, he told you not to make any noises, to keep it down, but because you’re a little brat, disrespectful after all his given you, food, a roof over your head, a warm bed, a man to protect you….you’re getting nothing >:(
“My cock Darlin’? Oh no, no, no, no. Ya’ see lovie, good girls get what they want, obedient girls get treated right, not selfish little sluts that can't do what they’re fuckin’ told”
Removing his fingers from you, he undoes his belt and takes out his stiff cock :(((((
Its so leaky, pre cum dripping down his shaft, Si pumps himself a couple times, a low groan falling from his lips as he forcefully turns you around slamming your body against the car
“Imma tell ya’ what ya’ gettin, I’m gonna fuck your thighs for my pleasure, not yours, and ya’ gonna shut up and take it, no squirmin’ or moanin’, ya’ just gonna stand here and take it”
Taking a dirty rag out of his back pocket that he uses to wipe his greasy hands, he slaps your cheek signalling to open your mouth, shoving the dirty fabric inbetween your lips with a sadistic chuckle
“There ya’ go petal, much better isn’t it? Finally listenin’”
His thrust between your thighs, the feeling of pre cum coating your pussy is satisfying, but it didn’t scratch the itch of what being filled by his girthy cock did :((((
Your moans fall silent against the dirty rag he shoved in your mouth, the only sound filling the shop being his low grunts and skin slapping against skin :((
His hard cock rubbing against your clit giving you little satisfaction, Si was so mean sometimes, but he was right, his always right :((((
He did so much for you and the very least you could do was follow his orders, you got to comfortable :((( trying to take charge and disobey him when he knows best, he always knows best >:(
You can tell his getting closer, his thrusts get sloppier and his quite grunts tern more strained :3
After a few more deep thrust between your wet and sloppy thighs the feeling of his hot ropes cover your pussy and drip down your inner thighs :(((
He didn’t even try and make you cum :( greedy girls don’t get pleasure, they’re used as fuck toys, walking fleashlights that don’t deserve orgasms :((
And you know his just doing what’s best for you, teaching you the hard way, the only way you would properly learn :((
He makes you walk past the break room and out of the shop with his sperm running down your legs, wet thighs sticking together making you uncomfortable as you take each step, hot, flushed and unsatisfied :(
Once you get back into his car he makes a call to a friend that owns a car dealership. Si has done so much for his mate, the least he can do is hand over a car, and that’s exactly what he does :3
Whatever his angel wants, his angel gets, unless she misbehaves :((((
Your orgasm is just going to have to wait till another time…..and don’t you even think about touching yourself……remember, obedient girls get to cum, not dirty, dirty sluts that don’t follow the rules <3
Tumblr media
The thing about mechanic!Simon is that his not taking your shit, he has no time for your attitude and will put you in your place immediately :( his training you to be his pretty little house wife after all :3

“It works very well for the industry to frame every technology that they put out into the world — whether it’s crypto or generative AI, or whatever else — as an innovation that we must pursue,” Paris Marx, host of the Tech Won’t Save Us podcast, tells me. “But Silicon Valley and venture capitalists are not actually interested in developing technology for the betterment of society . . . What they’re interested in is making money off of whatever hype cycle they are going to gin up next.” Sometimes the problem with innovation is that while the idea in question might be new, it is not actually very useful: it is a solution looking for a problem, as in the case of blockchain technology. And sometimes the problem is that the innovation, while not without its uses, is incredibly harmful: synthetic opioids have provided millions of people with pain relief, but they have also created an overdose epidemic, killing almost 80,000 Americans in 2022 and helping to drive US life expectancy down to a 25-year low. Why is it, therefore, that we have come to see “innovation” as such an unalloyed good, and why is “stifling” it so unequivocally bad? Surely the objective of the innovation — and the possible repercussions — should matter, too. Innovation might be crucial in making progress in all sorts of areas, such as medicine or science, but we seem to have got to a place where it is the idea itself that we venerate. That is wrong-headed: innovation should not be seen as an end in itself, but as a means of making something better. Crypto might be novel but that does not make it useful or valuable to society. We cannot go on imagining that all innovation is a force for good. In practice, “innovation” often just means exploiting gaps in existing rules until the regulators catch up — so called “regulatory arbitrage”, a strategy that the crypto industry has very successfully deployed and indeed relied upon. Unfortunately for these ingenious crypto “innovators”, catching up is exactly what regulators are now doing.

The Critical Importance of Financial Education in the Age of Bitcoin
Tumblr media
Imagine a world where you have complete control over your money, free from banks and government interference. This isn't a far-off dream—it's the reality that Bitcoin is creating. But with great power comes great responsibility, and that's where financial education becomes crucial. In this post, we'll explore why understanding Bitcoin is essential in today's rapidly evolving financial landscape.
The Current State of Financial Education
Financial literacy rates paint a sobering picture. According to a 2020 FINRA study, only 34% of Americans could answer 4 out of 5 basic financial literacy questions correctly. This lack of understanding often leads to poor financial decisions, leaving people vulnerable to economic uncertainties. As digital currencies gain prominence, this knowledge gap becomes even more critical.
Why Bitcoin Requires Financial Education
Bitcoin, the world's first decentralized digital currency, operates on a complex blockchain network. While its potential benefits are significant, understanding its unique characteristics is crucial:
Volatility: Bitcoin's price can fluctuate wildly. In 2021 alone, it saw a 64% increase followed by a 50% drop within months.
Security: Transactions are secured through cryptography, with ownership maintained via private keys.
Decentralization: Unlike traditional currencies, Bitcoin isn't controlled by any central authority.
Benefits of Understanding Bitcoin
Hedge Against Inflation: With a fixed supply of 21 million coins, Bitcoin is designed to be inflation-resistant.
Investment Opportunities: While volatile, Bitcoin has shown significant long-term growth potential.
Financial Freedom: Bitcoin enables peer-to-peer transactions without intermediaries, offering unprecedented financial autonomy.
Real-World Applications
Bitcoin isn't just a speculative asset. In countries like El Salvador, it's legal tender. Remittance services like BitPesa use Bitcoin to reduce transaction costs for international money transfers in Africa.
Common Misconceptions
Let's debunk some myths:
"Bitcoin is only used for illegal activities": While cryptocurrencies have been used illicitly, legitimate uses far outweigh illegal ones.
"Bitcoin has no intrinsic value": Its value comes from its utility as a decentralized, borderless payment system and its scarcity.
Environmental Concerns
It's important to address the energy consumption debate surrounding Bitcoin mining. While Bitcoin does consume significant energy, innovations in renewable energy mining are addressing these concerns.
Comparison with Other Cryptocurrencies
While Bitcoin was the first, thousands of cryptocurrencies now exist. Ethereum, for example, offers smart contract functionality, while Litecoin aims for faster transaction speeds.
Challenges in Bitcoin Education
Complexity: The technology can be daunting for newcomers.
Misinformation: The crypto space is rife with unreliable information.
Regulatory Uncertainties: Regulations vary widely across jurisdictions.
Strategies for Improving Bitcoin Literacy
Educational Resources: Leverage reputable online courses and books. Websites like Bitcoin.org offer comprehensive guides.
Community Engagement: Join forums like r/Bitcoin or attend local meetups.
Practical Experience: Start with small transactions to build familiarity.
Expert Insight
"Bitcoin is not just an asset, it's a new financial system with its own rules. Understanding these rules is crucial for anyone looking to participate in the future of finance," says Andreas Antonopoulos, a leading Bitcoin educator.
Practical First Steps
Set up a small Bitcoin wallet (try Exodus or Green Wallet).
Buy a small amount of Bitcoin on a reputable exchange like Coinbase or Kraken.
Try making a small transaction to experience how it works.
The Role of Influencers and Educators
Platforms like Unplugged Financial play a crucial role in demystifying Bitcoin. By providing clear, accurate information, these educators help bridge the knowledge gap and empower individuals.
Conclusion
As Bitcoin continues to reshape the financial landscape, understanding its principles, benefits, and challenges is vital. By investing time in financial education, you can make informed decisions and potentially harness the power of Bitcoin to achieve greater financial freedom. Remember, in the world of Bitcoin, knowledge truly is power.

hc + community
She has a few communities -- her community here (which is comprised both of people she sees regularly and people she only talks to through tumblr and streams), the people she interacts with in the capacity of fellow parents of schoolchildren, and her IRL sessionmates, most of whom live on a small (but slightly larger) island just nearby the island she lives on.
She gets most of her socialization fix online. The trolls who are around here are all fucked up, like her -- she has a few things she's still nervous about being "weird" about her, mostly the wrigglers -- but in general, she's not particularly fussed about being "wrong". She likes to be available to offer assistance to others, even just little ways of helping like sending over meals or taking a look at bruises makes her feel incredibly fulfilled. These are the people she mostly sees as being like herself; misfits, somewhat (affectionate).
She is currently trying to be friendly with a group of parents of her eldest daughter's friends, but it's been a rough go. It's easier with some of the parents of the younger kids, but there's such an experience and age gap between her and the other parents of 12-year old human kids, they can often be condescending or overly delicate. She attends book clubs twice a week trying to fit in, but since the occasion is mostly just an excuse for a bunch of 30-somethings to get together and drink alcohol and giggle about mediocre smut, she finds it difficult. She holds these people at arms length sort of subconsciously, so even though she's trying to put in the effort, it's fairly easy to tell that she isn't having a good time. They just assume she's had a really hard life because they can do math, and she's so young and Frifaj is so old. So they're also very awkward and don't address it and just let her keep coming to book club. They're basically in a social stalemate, but Kanaya has absolutely no idea because she can't read social cues. She hates The Elf King's Bride: Embrace of the Fae with a passion. It feels like they have been reading it for literal years.
With her actual friends that she fought with and would have died for, it's just... hard. They spent so long dead in the bubbles, basically stagnant and shouting into an echo that crystalized Who They Are to a point where they feel like almost archetypal versions of themselves, which is only sort of hammered in by meeting so many alts over the last decade. A very Karkat Karkat, a very Tavros Tavros, an extremely Vriska Vriska. She has spent so much of that time wallowing in despair, trying new hobbies, learning new things, meeting new people, and finally taking chances -- it's what led her to be able to resurrect her timeline's players, as well as ghosts beyond that, but being faced with her friends she finds herself unrecognizable as herself. Everyone else is normal and she is like a funhouse mirror version of herself, twisted beyond recognition.
Tumblr media
She is always available to help them, and they know that, but they generally don't contact her because she moved away from the main hub so quickly after finishing her resurrection work and cavern setup. She keeps in close contact with her timeline's Aradia, who often babysits her kids on a moment's notice (mostly by taking them to dangerous historical periods for history field trips). She also keeps up with Dave somewhat, as he uses bullshit crypto schemes to keep everyone funded and essentially pays out allowances to them all -- though he'd gag at it, they're basically the two most responsible for keeping their comfortable lives in isolation fully functional.
Her timeline's Karkat and Rose reach out about once every 3 months saying they should get coffee, but nothing ever happens because Kanaya is so distant. Sollux is her go-to for tech support, and Equius helped her set up the elevator and soundproofing in her house (turns out void magic is SUPER useful for that).
She also keeps up with her session's Davesprite (who's just going by DS for now, while figuring out if he wants to change that or not). They managed to seal up the session together and finish the genesis frog together, and she's incredibly fond of him. He's been spending a lot of time with the consort population on the main island since getting a new body -- they are pretty fond of each other, but each one has that evil brain parasite of "you probably only leaned on me because you had no other choice, so now that we've accomplished all we've set out to do, I will leave gracefully and let you live your life." Jade sort of sidelined Kanaya in her excitement to set up an ectobiology project to clone him a human body that could pass through the world without a second look, and she sort of took that as a cue to get lost. Because of the brain parasite. (Mental illness. You know how it is.)
She's been reaching out to her timeline's Gamzee recently, after realizing how incompetent her sessionmates are at keeping up with people who disappear. (Eventually, this may lead to a realization that they're just shit at keeping up with her and don't just hate her because she's weird, but she's only been spending time with Gamzee for a few weeks now, so it's probably going to be slow going.)

UNDRGRND: IN THE BEGINNING
by NFTjoe
Tumblr media
ORIGINALLY POSTED ON UNDRGRND.IO: NOVEMBER 12TH, 2021
Every day someone tweets that they quit their job to focus on NFTs full time. Someone within our social circle makes a previously inconceivable amount of money and can now turn their hobby into a career. While the rest of us sit back, watch and wait our turn.
The messages we receive from Twitter make it feel like it will never happen to us:
If you’re reading this tweet you’re early to NFTs. _
Perseverance is all it takes to succeed in this space. _
GM, NFT World! Let’s see those unsold NFTs and find you a collector!
I’ve got (insert amount of crypto) to spend! Show me your dope art! I’ll buy something.
This last one in particular frustrates me the most. Artists flock to these tweets with hopes that this thread will be the break they need.
Rarely does this method work.
Tumblr media
The Problem
The NFT market can crush an artist’s spirit. The expectations of becoming an instant success do not match the work required. The emotionally draining act of constantly selling yourself along with the energy needed to create can lead to depletion and exhaustion; it’s why we also see so many tweets about mental health in the NFT space.
Tumblr media
With so much effort and resilience required to survive in this space the easy thing to do is hop on a Twitter thread. This typically leads to some followers but no sales. So what is the next step for an artist?
Some artists are accepted to gated platforms (SuperRare, Makersplace, Nifty Gateway) giving them an advantage. There the artist must display the talent that the platform deems worthy of their brand or standard. But what about the ones that don’t meet an arbitrary requirement or style? And what about the artists that are never considered due to the sheer volume of applicants?
OpenSea has become a perfect metaphor for the experience of the NFT artist: an ocean filled with NFTs for anyone to purchase, if only you can find it and can discern between value and speculation. At least on SuperRare or other curated sites, a collector can trust that the gatekeepers have put in the time to discern whether this artist is “worthy” of being collected.
The popularity of Hic Et Nunc (HEN) helped bridge the gap between value and speculation by allowing a lower entry point for amateur collectors to simply buy what they love. While HEN has provided a cleaner NFT alternative to ETH marketplaces and created a launch pad for unknown artists - with no curation, artists still go undiscovered by collectors who may love their work.
This is why many of us in this space turn to Twitter to discover new artists.
This is why influencers have taken to profiting off of their following to help artists gain exposure.
This is why shill threads have become a daily practice on Twitter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the surface, these threads appear innocent and supportive. Perhaps many of them are sincere, but this is an inefficient way to connect artists with collectors and an even worse way to highlight talent that may go unrecognized.
The Solution
“In 4 months, you’re going to look around and wonder how you got here.”
That was my boss back in February. It took a little longer than that, but he was right.
Tumblr media
How did I end up here?
How did I become one of those people tweeting about how NFTs changed my life?
Nine months ago I answered a random post on Reddit:
“Looking for NFT content creators to join our community-driven NFT publication.”
Thus, I met my boss, Sean, the co-founder of Cryptowriter, and began talking about NFTs and the insanity that was beginning to take hold of people and push NFTs into the mainstream.
Since then, we’ve talked every day: late at night spitballing crackpot ideas to each other; tinkering and rewriting articles; arguing (Sean calls them “discussions”) about the best path forward.
Every crazy idea I have, he encourages me to go further, explore it and make it a reality.
I began gaining his trust and vicariously gaining the acceptance of the other founder, Kenny, as well. Freelance writing turned into recruiting artists for interviews. That led to me hosting the podcast, Behind the Pixel, with an open-ended conversation revealing the artist’s inner thoughts, ideas and influences surrounding their art.
Behind the Pixel was also created as an airdrop feature for our Cryptowriter Membership cardholders. Partnering with artists, we feature them on our website, host them on the podcast and then drop a piece of their artwork to our members.
We quickly connected the dots realizing all these pieces worked together and were part of something bigger.
UNDRGRND was born from those “discussions”. UNDRGRND would become an art platform, dedicated to newly discovered artists, elevating their exposure through articles, podcasts and airdrops to our community.
No longer would artists rely solely on the Twitter algorithms and shill threads. We would partner with artists, collectors and curators to filter through the noise and discover talented artists that deserve recognition for their work.
Our Passion
In the early 2000s, there were underground hip-hop, garage-rock and pop-punk bands floating around on the internet in blogs to gain exposure. Those unknown bands eventually became music video stars and grammy award nominees. But it all started on a website just like UNDRGRND.
There was competition and pride among people who knew musicians before they were mainstream. The band, Bon Iver, won a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2012, despite their first album being released in 2008. Bands like Saves the Day, Jimmy Eat World and Dashboard Confessional were indie label monsters before radio stations began playing their singles. Before Mos Def and Talib Kweli were superstar rap lyricists they were heading the underground hip-hop movement. And before Arcade Fire was on the cover of Rolling Stone, they were receiving accolades on the blog Pitchfork. This was my foundation and a formative experience for who I am today.
Sean started telling stories about his blog, TheFreshBeat, that highlighted underground and unknown electronic music artists. It gained enough of a following that clubs in the Miami area began looking to TheFreshBeat for new undiscovered electronic music.
We talked about how great it was discovering music that no one else knew. We enjoyed sifting through everything to find the gems; it was work but it was fun.
Now, we bring that same energy and mentality to UNDRGRND.
Our Mission
Like Indie music to mainstream pop music, UNDRGRND will focus on unfamiliar names before they become famous.
As a member of our community we hope to fuel your excitement of discovering something new.
We will think in terms of years and not hours. You will not find hype on UNDRGRND. You will not find a quick flip on UNDRGRND. You will find the genuine-honest substance of style and creativity.
We will provide you with diverse viewpoints, our knowledge, and our passion. We will write thought-provoking pieces and explore deeper discussions about art. We will share the wisdom of experienced collectors and curators to help guide and teach a new generation of investors, art enthusiasts and hopefully future millionaires (but remember us when you’re rich and famous, ok?).
There are cliches in the art and writing industries:
Buy what you love.
Write what you know.
The writers at UNDRGRND were recruited to write about the art they bought because they loved it. They are individuals with experience and opinions, who have helped shape my own taste in art. Before I became the Managing Editor of UNDRGRND they took the time to educate me. And now, I’ve recruited them to teach everyone else.
We will purchase art we love and we will write about it.
Through this, we hope to elevate some of the best unknown artists through our writing, podcast episodes and share some of those artists through weekly airdrops to our UNDRGRND Membership Cardholders.
The artists we share will become the storytellers and cultural influencers of the future.
If we elevate everyone together, we all succeed.
My personal goal is to give back to the community that has given me a chance to fulfill my dream. To all the underground artists, writers and collectors that haven’t yet reached their full potential, I will help you reach it. I will help you reach the goal of changing NFTs and art from a passion to a career.

UNDRGRND is more than just an art platform, it is a philosophy; a philosophy shaped by the community; a community we build together.

hello i mean this in the nicest and sincerest possible way. what on earth is going on in the new valkyrie event ??
I wanna preface this by saying i didn't read any livetweets, i read vague spoilers, and i decided my. Vague knowledge of the japanese language will get me thru, so whether i properly understood everything or not? Is up for interpretation. And also I have yet to read the last 5 chapters, I left off when the question "why" was asked so, obviously, a gap.
But in short. Mika got reeled into crypto. From what I understood, he was stuck with his art, he wasn't coming up with any ideas, when Sora asked him if he wants to test the Test World where he can also make art using like . Clay and machines and the sort, and that art can then also be 3D printed? I really have to emphasise that my vocab is bad enough when you don't show me tech jargon. But anyway, this is in SSVRS or that VR system of theirs. So Mika does that, he gets really into it, he starts making all sorts of things and another function of the Test World is the VL$, a virtual currency. Yeah. It's a Test World, so it'll all be reset later, but yknow. Mika auctions his works, people start liking them and Test World's popularity soars - and with more people bidding on Mika's works, the value of the VL$ soars, too. One of Mika's works sold for the equivalent of 100 million yen, if I understood that section correctly. Either that or that was the value of 1VL$. Either way, it was a figure that had Mika going, "E- EEEEEEEH?!??!??!?!" so like. Yknow.
On the other side, Mika was spending all his time in VR, so he missed Shu's call. Shu, naturally, decided the next course of action is to fly from Paris back to Japan and check on him "to make sure he's not slacking off". Natsume and Tsumugi explain everything around the Test World and VL$ to him, Sora promises to call higher-ups to fix it, they get told that Mika shouldn't stop now because the value of the VL$ would plummet. There was some talk ab Mika not belonging to himself anymore which was. Right. Shu also scolded Mika directly, bc Mika was excited about that new medium and wanted to show it to Shu, and Shu got pissed off bc it's not real art. I think it was supposed be a sort of vague misunderstanding, the way Shu was speaking made it seem like he didn't consider digital art real art, but later on he says it's just that he doesn't consider art made to appeal to the masses and art made specifically for profit real art.
Whatever the case, Mika got back into the VR, Makoto tells him about the real world value of his works, he offers to buy him an atelier, Mika says it'd help him make more artworks, and in comes Shu on like. A fucking mecha? They started using gamer lingo explaining this one, I kinda shut it out tbh but it was a literal deus ex machina/mechanical god. So. That's when Mika asks what's so wrong about what he's doing, and when Shu answers with his own question - why is he doing that.
This is where I've stopped and I'll probs read the rest later tonight, but what I've seen from the spoilers, they either destroyed the Test World and the crypto, or just the crypto. Either way, a W for the art community and NFT/crypto haters.

You’re a “#1 women fan” and yet you’re sick of people (presumably women) asking questions they don’t know the answer to. Jfc this the is the problem with radfems like you. There are women that are new to radical feminism and are trying their best to learn by asking questions and then they’re met with rude responses like yours? I understand feeling exasperated by a perceived lack of compassion for dysphoric women but responding to asks from crypto radfems with unnecessary hostility is ridiculous.
i try my best to answer questions straightforward (and i did with that one too—i gave them an answer, though i honestly viewed it as more of a rhetorical question made to invoke commentary. if i read it wrong, that’s my fault) and nicely, and i would hope that others are able to see me as someone they can come to. but i am so very tired of people not having any sort of sympathy for dysphoric women. i’ll admit that anon may not have had any ill intent in asking, and it’s my fault for snapping (my day was rough), but i am constantly nice and patient with people who aren’t so kind about it.
it sometimes feels like there’s such a gap between me and radfems because they don’t understand dysphoria. yeah, yeah—the jokes about how it’s silly to obsess over gendered mannerisms and such are funny the first few times, but it gets really old really fast. like i said, i would hope that i’m someone others feel like they can come to learn from, but i’m also not your own personal search bar. it’s not my responsibility to explain over and over how dysphoric TRA women view the world and how we should have compassion for them instead of making fun of what are clearly symptoms of deep-seated mental issues. it just really feels like sometimes people forget that those women are our allies, too—even if it doesn’t feel like it.
again, if it truly was a genuine question sent in good faith out of pure confusion, i apologize—i want more women to be able to understand and learn, but it’s very very frustrating when it feels like i have to explain the same things over and over. it’s like i’m talking to a wall, or trying to re-explain concepts to a baby whose brain isn’t developed enough to store the information properly—in one ear and out the other. i would urge anyone who has questions to search for their answers online first before verifying it with one of us. it’s wonderful that you want to learn more but us dysphoric women constantly get the short end of the stick and i don’t have endless patience

“Also among Lane’s clients: FTX. Federal prosecutors are now examining Silvergate’s role in banking Sam Bankman-Fried’s fallen empire. The more pressing problem is that the collapse of FTX spooked other Silvergate customers, resulting in an $8.1 billion run on the bank: 60 percent of its deposits that walked out the door in just one quarter. (“Worse than that experienced by the average bank to close in the Great Depression,” The Wall Street Journal helpfully explained.)
In its earnings filing, we found out that Silvergate’s results last quarter were absolute dogshit, a $1 billion loss. Then, on March 1st, Silvergate entered a surprise regulatory filing. It says that, actually, the quarterly results were even worse, and it’s not clear the bank will be able to stay in business.
(…)
“If Silvergate goes out of business, it’s going to push funds and market makers further offshore,” Ava Labs president John Wu told Barron’s. The issue is how easy it is to get into actual cash dollars, which in finance-speak is called liquidity. Less liquidity makes transactions more difficult. Already there is a broader gap between the price at which a trade is expected to go through at and the actual price at which it executes, Wu said.
So Silvergate’s troubles are a problem for the entire crypto industry.”
“Within 48 hours, a panic induced by the very venture capital community that SVB had served and nurtured ended the bank's 40-year-run.
Regulators shuttered SVB Friday and seized its deposits in the largest U.S. banking failure since the 2008 financial crisis and the second-largest ever. The company's downward spiral began late Wednesday, when it surprised investors with news that it needed to raise $2.25 billion to shore up its balance sheet. What followed was the rapid collapse of a highly-respected bank that had grown alongside its technology clients.
(…)
"This was a hysteria-induced bank run caused by VCs," Ryan Falvey, a fintech investor at Restive Ventures, told CNBC. "This is going to go down as one of the ultimate cases of an industry cutting its nose off to spite its face."
(…)
The roots of SVB's collapse stem from dislocations spurred by higher rates. As startup clients withdrew deposits to keep their companies afloat in a chilly environment for IPOs and private fundraising, SVB found itself short on capital. It had been forced to sell all of its available-for-sale bonds at a $1.8 billion loss, the bank said late Wednesday.
(…)
All told, customers withdrew a staggering $42 billion of deposits by the end of Thursday, according to a California regulatory filing.
By the close of business that day, SVB had a negative cash balance of $958 million, according to the filing, and failed to scrounge enough collateral from other sources, the regulator said.
(…)
Now, thanks to the bank run that ended in SVB's seizure, those who remained with SVB face an uncertain timeline for retrieving their money. While insured deposits are expected to be available as early as Monday, the lion's share of deposits held by SVB were uninsured, and it's unclear when they will be freed up.”
“First Republic shares fell 52% in early trading before storming back to near the previous day's closing level, only to then finish the day down 15%. Investors expressed concerns about unrealized losses on assets at the bank as well as its heavy reliance on deposits that could turn out to be flighty.
(…)
First Republic's shares have lost 34% of their value in the past week.
(…)
In its annual report, First Republic said the fair-market value of its "real estate secured mortgages" was $117.5 billion as of Dec. 31, or $19.3 billion below their $136.8 billion balance-sheet value. The fair-value gap for that single asset category was larger than First Republic's $17.4 billion of total equity.
All told, the fair value of First Republic's financial assets was $26.9 billion less than their balance-sheet value. The financial assets included "other loans" with a fair value of $26.4 billion, or $2.9 billion below their $29.3 billion carrying amount. So-called held-to-maturity securities, consisting mostly of municipal bonds, had a fair value of $23.6 billion, or $4.8 billion less than their $28.3 billion carrying amount.
(…)
Total deposits at First Republic were $176.4 billion, or 90% of its total liabilities, as of Dec. 31. About 35% of its deposits were noninter-est-bearing. And $119.5 billion, or 68%, of its deposits were uninsured, meaning they exceeded Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. limits.”
“Signature becomes the third-largest bank to ever fail in the U.S., behind Silicon Valley Bank and Washington Mutual in 2008, if its assets haven't changed significantly since the end of 2022. Signature had $110 billion in assets as of Dec. 31, ranking 29th among U.S. banks. It had $88 billion in deposits as of that date, and approximately 89.7% were not insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
(…)
Signature served clients in the cryptocurrency world and had been trying to reduce its exposure. Like Silvergate Bank, another crypto-friendly bank that said last week it would voluntarily wind itself down, it suffered from a deposit outflow in the aftermath of the collapse of crypto exchange FTX. Deposits dropped 17% in the fourth quarter of 2022 as compared to the year-earlier period.
(…)
Now that Signature has been seized, Circle, issuer of the second largest stablecoin, "will not be able to process minting and redemption [for the stablecoin] through SigNet," and "will be relying on settlements through BNY Mellon,” CEO Jeremy Allaire said on Twitter Sunday evening.
Circle’s USD coin fell below its crucial $1 peg Friday after the company disclosed $3.3 billion in cash reserves held with the failed Silicon Valley Bank despite attempted withdrawals Thursday. After falling to 88 cents on Saturday, the company announced it planned to cover any shortfall from its SVB losses using “corporate resources.””
“Credit Suisse shares on Monday reached a new record low, falling as much as 15% as investors continued to hammer away at the stock of the Swiss banking giant after the collapse of banks in the U.S.
(…)
Credit Suisse CSGN CS has lost money for five straight quarters and says it’s expecting to post a loss before tax this year. It’s undergoing a big transformation after losing billions lending to the Archegos family office and having to freeze $10 billion worth of funds tied to Greensil Capital. Wealthy clients pulled out about $100 billion from Credit Suisse in the fourth quarter.”
