What if..

What if Magnifico had a daughter that he lost in the past and he had wished that she would come back, but he did not remember having such a wish And for years he had forgotten his daughter... (and her name is Melody)

(or suppose he asked everyone to wish his daughter back and then everyone forgot that they had this wish)

Personally, when I listen to "At all costs", I feel more like a father singing a lullaby to his daughter, Not the villain and the hero who sings for some floating orbs

Anyway, I liked the movie even if it wasn't the masterpiece it should have been

Also, I love king and queen, especially my handsome daddy (I will definitely free him from his mirror prison one day and take care of him myself even if no one accepts him anymore)

After looking everywhere for a reference of Magnifico’s parents, my boyfriend and I stopped and laughed our butts off at how awkward this shot looks.

Freaking Magnifico’s dad is holding him like he’s the 10 commandments while he looks so done with life. Stiff as a board. Daddy got grip strength for the win- Owie!

The Wishing Kingdom Song Rewrite: This Wish

So you guys are pretty curious as to why I’m rewriting some of the songs for my rewrite of Disney’s Wish, well, to put it simple, I personally didn’t mind some of the songs, I liked At All Costs and Knowing What I Know Now, but I eventually wanted to rewrite This Wish, simply because I noticed some problems with it in the first place.

I know the lyrics were a massive letdown due to awkward structures and the way they flowed, this is because it sounds more like a pop song rather than an “I Want” song, we’ve had many songs like these in the past that were able to establish characters but why couldn’t they just do something with Asha? I mean the concept was there but it was the execution that had the final nail in the coffin.

The way I visualise my rewrite of “This Wish” is that it has more of a “God Help The Outcasts” vibe with a some hints of “How Far I’ll Go” and “Reflection” except in this situation as it plays out in the rewrite, Asha is begging to call the power on the stars just because she wants to please everyone and her people just because she gives up easily at magic, so to put it simply, she wants to do better so she can feel like she’s loved by many, including her adapted parents, King Magnifico and Queen Amaya so that she can become the next wish granter before she turns 18, you would see this throughout the rewrite though, I mean, this is where her wish changes as the rewrite progresses cuz character development!

Anyways, let’s get into the song!

Redesigning the villains for my Wish rewrite and I thought of something cool

Why does Amaya cover her ears?? In the concept art it’s nowhere to be found or that’s what I think

Spoilers for my rewrite, she becomes the plot twist villain who betrays asha, Aster, and her friends to stop King Magnifico 

I’m curious what’s more scarier, a wife losing her husband or her husband losing his wife? (Please reply I’m curious)

I’m gonna write as short and simple as much possible cause I don’t like writing very complex stories (easily gets distracted and lost). I don’t have names for some characters, so get for a bunch of nicknames

King Magnifico

So for King Magnifico, it’ll be a mix of Scar and Tai Long

What’s upon a time, there was a long line of rulers of Rosas

A King Alcohol and Queen Morte, has two sons, prince Magnifico and Prince Naïve who was just barely born, when Queen Morte died of childbirth. King alcohol became an alcoholic sad and depressed about Queens passing.

Prince Magnifico became greatly skilled with magic and leadership thanks to their Royal Wizard while Prince Naïve grew fair and kind, but he is not as strong as Magnifico is.

King Alcohol dying wish was for the youngest son to be the next king. Magnifico questions about this, King Alcohol said that their royal wizard said in context “you’re going to become evil if you don’t fix your bad habit, so it’s best for prince naïve to be king.”(which not true and what the royal wizard was warning about King Alcohol wish and if he doesn’t fix his bad attitude and habit, prince magnifico will become evil, he got fired for his poor guy)

And so Prince magnifico made a plan to destroy the kingdom his father and brother and with his power, he can fix it all as a “hero“. Until, he heard that Prince naïve is going to be wed with princess Amaya from a neighboring kingdom….

Queen Amaya

Once upon a time there was a prince and an peasant woman who is an alchemist was so deeply in love with each other. That prince’s daddy did not like this, because he was a sexist, believing that smart women are witches.

So the prince’s daddy send, the poor alchemist to the dungeons so that the alchemist doesn’t “hurt or kill the prince”

The prince asked his daddy about his girlfriend’s whereabouts, and the daddy said “that witch dumped you because she is dangerous and wanted to hurt you, you cannot trust them witches”

And the prince is so gullible that he believed this, and he has set to marrying a princess from a neighboring kingdom

One year later, Miss alchemist escape from her prisonment and goes “ yay I’m free what’s today’s news?” She later finds out the king jerk dumped her for another girl, and is having a party for their newborn baby girl named Amaya, and everyone was invited

And, of course, Miss alchemist did not like this furious she came to the party, uninvited and cursed their daughter to be a dragon and unfertile

King jerk:“it’s broken by true love, right?”

Miss alchemist: “ha ha, no”

King jerk fears this and ask his royal advisors what to do. The Royal advisors lied to the king of a made up story,that there was a similar scenario, where a witch curse a princess is to be ugly forever until she was married to someone by true love, and then that’s when she became the most beautiful woman in that land. And, of course, King jerk as gullible as he can be believes this,

The royal advisors did find a magical crystal that could harness princess Amaya‘s dragon curse, and use it as a necklace. but as shown in the sketches below, that it kind of works and has to cover up her dragon features

How they met

When Prince magnifico heard about this, he thought part of his evil plan to make princess Amaya fall in love with him and make her his queen. But when that happened Amaya and magnifico actually fell in love in first sigh, no love spell or potion needed.

They did hang out for a little bit before princess Amaya‘s marriage and prince magnifico ask her to be part of his plan.

Princess Amaya wants nothing of this and prince magnifico warns her about the peoples opinion when they find out who she really

princess Amaya shock thinking how the heck does this man knew about this and why he not disgusted or scared at all? Magnifico later on explains that he recognized the jemthat princess Amaya was wearing that it could hold curses

Amaya reveals what her curse to magnifico and he doesn’t care at all, because he’s that in love with her. Princess Amaya refuse to be part of the evil plan, and marries to prince naïve, until when she realized that the curse was not broken. She decides “you know what I like magnifico and he likes me why not”

And so, when magnifico steals a star from the sky, to make him powerful, he created plagues around the kingdom feminine, darkness, and he dragged destroying their land, which is Amaya that causes the death of Prince naïve and king alcohol. magnifico and Amaya became the next rulers after “saving roses” with magnifico power of wishes

Ok yeah I am still stuck on Wish and ... OK I feel the movie would've been a lot stronger if they made Magnifico and Asha foils of each other by going the inverse Princess and the Frog route?

What I mean is, one of the core aspects of PatF is that Tiana is so concentrated on her goals and working hard to get them, that she forgot about the smaller joys in life, and she forgot about wishing upon a star - ie child like wonder and magic. You need both - as her Daddy says:

Yes, you wish and you dream with all your little heart. But you remember, Tiana, that old star can only take you part of the way. You got to help him with some hard work of your own. And then... Yeah, you can do anything you set you mind to.

And that... is actually a core of a LOT of old Disney Wishing Upon a Star scenes. Cinderella did EVERYTHING to make her dream of a fun night out a reality - she worked hard, finished her chores, tried everything in her power to finish her dress, and only at her lowest point she gets her Fairy Godmother to help. Same with Geppetto - he worked all his life and had his heart full of love and so he went all the way he could by creating Pinocchio - and THEN the Wishing star appeared. Impossible dreams of people who worked hard seem to be the Wishing Star's specialty.

Magnifico in Wish is explicitly the ANTITHESIS of that idea. He is Facilier offering Tiana her dream - he offers the easy way out, because making your wish come true is HARD. So I feel like the movie Really should've played harder on that. Make it more explicit, make Magnifico play harder on the fact that he is the easy way out, and that the wishes he offers are all smoke and shadows. Want to be a musician, bam you can play any instruments. Want to be a seamstress, bam you are Edna. But it's empy because you didn't put the work in, you just waited for someone to give it to you. Both the waiting and the granting are meaningless.

By contrast, play harder on Asha believing the town deserve to know and have their wishes back, because they DESERVE to make them real themselves. Make her oppose Magnifico because she realises that the pursuit of one's dream is as important as the wish itself. That the people ARE all stars, with the power of making wishes a reality. And when it's an impossible dream, then Star and Asha can give a little magic help (She literally says that Star can't grant wishes but can HELP to make them a reality. It's already all there!!!). Just. Have Asha and Magnifico be foils and don't make Asha basically a granting wish machine in the end

(And PUT BACK THE SCENE WITH SABINO ASHA AND THE WISHING TREE FOR THE MOUSE'S SAKE WHY WOULD YOU-"

Frogs and Stars

As I have written before, Wish was unfairly criticized for a number of reasons. Some are understandable while the rest are just straight up dumb. One of these dumb criticisms is that Wish copies from the other and older "better" Disney movies before it, which I find hilariously stupid to begin with is because Wish was deliberately made to be an homage to those movies.

The film that it is most compared to is Snow White, given that Snow White is Disney's first animated feature and that Wish is a centennial film for the studio. Not the entire company, the studio that made most of the films Disney is famous for. It's important I specify that.

The reason why I find this comparison dumb is that it's just too easy. Snow White is a classic so any film released today by the same studio is gonna be compared by way-too-young boomers who think "old good, new bad". But there's one film that's more comparable to Wish as they're highly similar, The Princess and the Frog.

Now, I like Princess and the Frog. It's one of my favorite Disney movies. However, it has more problems than Wish, which I find funny given that PatF is praised for something Wish was needlessly hated for.

You see, PatF was made to be a return to the classic Disney formula that defined the renaissance era. So, stuff like it being hand drawn animated, romance, talking animals, musicals and a villain, are things that you think would make a good Disney movie. However, those things are the problem. They wallpaper over the films problems and distract you from them.

PatF has an otherwise good character focused story, but because it has the need to be a Disney Princess story, it has to include things the define the the renaissance era and complicated the plot. So things like Tiana being turned into a frog so she and Naveen must find a way to break the curse caused by Dr. Facilier all feel like they're there for the sake of the formula.

Coming back to Wish, both films have a similar theme about achieving dreams. PatF has Tiana preach about working hard to achieve her dream while Asha learns that people need to achieve their dreams themselves. Both characters don't need to learn a lesson as Tiana is forced to get a partner because of her status as a Disney Princess while Asha doesn't need to learn given that her motivations don't require her to.

Tiana gets nagged a lot by her own friends and family to settle down and get a partner, but her childhood friend Charlotte and eventual husband Naveen are highly supportive of her opening her restaurant that they both risk their own dreams for her. Asha already has a family and community she loves and she risked herself just so she can return the wishes that rightfully belong to them.

This theme extends to both films villains. Magnifico and Facilier cheat their way to achieve their goals as Magnifico lies and manipulates people to remain in power, Facilier lies and manipulates to gain power. Both tried to sympathize with their respective heroines with then understanding the struggles of an unfair world. However, despite being a popular and well liked villain, Facilier has a lame goal in comparison to the villains.

While most villains want to become a powerful ruler, kill someone out spite and jealousy or in the case of Gaston, forcibly marry a person not interest in them, Facilier wants to get rich. Despite literally having the powers of the Loa, he needs Lawrence disguised as Naveen to marry Charlotte so they can inherit her daddy's wealth. I mean, his power is limited and couldn't take over New Orleans if he wanted to, but that's just the result of the writers wanting to bring back villains but not knowing that kind of motivation he should have.

He also have a problem Rasputin has in Anastasia. Both are unnecessary villains who are there for the sake of the trope and don't even interact with the lead heroine til the climax. Tiana is only aware of Facilier from Naveen and presumably rumors about him given that he is nicknamed the Shadow Msn, suggesting he is a local shady figure.

His status as a popular villain is carried entirely but the aesthetics of Voudou and Keith David.

Magnifico on the other hand is a unique villain as most have a goal they want to accomplish, he already got his. He's already a king and in control of Rosas, in fact is only motivated is to remain in power and control, hence why he created the wish system. It's only after discovering that he could absorb the wishes for more power he wants Star for himself for their magic. He's quite simple compared to Facilier's complicated scheme.

Disney's films with a black main character have always been messy . Tiana was announced as the first black princess but was a frog for most of the movie. Ethan Clade is finally their proper gay main character in an animated film was forgotten by audiences due the lack of marketing. And Asha being misread as a selfish villain and only liked in fanon as the love interest to their imaginary golden boy.

Disney was criticized that they didn't commit into making Naveen and Tiana a fully black couple but Wish fandom is doing just that with Asha and Starboy.

At the end of the day, Wish and Princess and the Frog are films that have flaws, one just happened to have those flaws overlooked and the other accentuated.

we all agree that how the villain song from new Disney movie wish was bad and the villain king Magnifico keep saying “ this is the thanks I get “ well I think Disney is mad at us because of the things that happened to the company recently and maybe they mad cuz we don’t like Disney like we use to and they keep saying we are the best company and we made a lost of memory for all of you we are everywhere what ever you love is cuz of us and this is the thanks we get ??? see Disney is mad at us 😂 and btw am I the only one who thinks that Disney tried to make the hottest Disney DILF possible?? like they asked people with daddy issues around and said imagine a hot Daddy and draw that 💀or maybe they were like (you know what it’s time for a new Disney crush that people can fell in love with for an other 100 years )

How did Melody get the scar over her left eye? And how does Magnifico react when he sees it for the first time? I can picture a surprised Magnifico seeing the scar and asking “Where did you get that scar?” And Melody replies with “I’ll explain later.”

The story is not at all what you think..

Let me clear it once..

It was another evening in Rosas, Seven-year-old Melody was playing alone in her room and Magnifico was in his study. He had told Melody he would play with her when he was done.

Melody was playing with her doll bear and the pile of pillows she had made into a castle, almost silent, she was really bored. "When will dad finish his work.."

She puffed her cheeks and looked at her doll bear that fell on the ground.. Melody rolls it a little with her foot, suddenly she shoots it and goes under the bed, Melody was so bored that she didn't even take it out from under the bed. "Stay there.. It's where you belong." She said to the doll, then looked at the door, decided to go to her father. She left her room as it was and went to Magnifico's study.

While running in the hall and runs her finger on the armors, curtains and wall, the sound of her boot heels clattering on the stairs she climbing.

When she reaches the back door of the study, she slows down, runs a hand through her hair and pushes it away from her face. She clears her throat and knocks softly, she knocks five times as usual. Didn't hear any answer, so she slowly opened the door herself.. Melody tilted her head slowly from the side of the door and said in a very calm tone..

"... Dad..."

Magnifico heard her voice, turned his head towards the door, his face was calm, spoke with a sweet smile.

- "Oh... Melody... I said will come to play with you, sweetie." As he turns his head to the table, where there is a big closed book on it.

-"Yes, I know.." While she was still standing by the door and her hand was on the handle, she was playing with the corner of the door with her other hand. ".. I don't touch anything.. I won't even make any sound.. I'll just stay here quietly with you.."

Magnifico Chuckles softly and looks at her. "Okay.. Okay, come here. Close the door behind you."

Melody's dropped face rises again and she closes the door with gusto and goes to him, Magnifico lift and hugs her, kisses her cheek.

"Daddy's little princess seems like she should be with her papa everywhere and her he should always entertain her." He says mockingly. Melody laughs at this. when she doesn't know what to say, she just laughs or smiles widely, her laughter disappears as she looks at the book on the table, It had a dragon design in the shape of a circle and a green stone on it.

"What is this.. Dad? it has a dragon on it.. Is it a new story book?" Melody smiles at the thought of that this book is a story book.

"Uh.. no no no.. it's a spell book and well.. it's not good for kids.. This is not a storybook."

"Oh so..." Melody's smile became fainter, in fact, the more she looks at the design of the dragon and the green stone that shines on it, the more she feels strange.

Magnifico sees this, he then pulls Melody out of his arms and Melody lands on the ground, her face still a mixture of emotions after only looking at the book cover. He bends and puts his hands on his knees and looks at Melody

"I said it's not good for the kids, sweetie. you don't seem to feel good when you look at it.. Will you wait outside until I'm done? Go to your room or play with Rosita your pony or see what mom is doing or anything else, then I'll be with you until the end of the night! I promise!"

While Melody was still full of negative feelings about that book, she looked at her father, her gaze softening a bit. "Okay.. I.. I'm going out. Now that I think about it, I'm hungry.." Melody slowly moves away from him and goes towards the door.

Melody grabbed the door handle and was about to go out..

"Wait."

Melody's heart skipped a beat, Magnifico's tone was serious, she slowly turned her head and looked at him.

"Come here, you forgot to give me a kiss, those strong kisses!" Magnifico smirked and opened his arms. Melody took a small sigh of relief, then quickly rushed into Magnifico's arms and kissed him firmly on the cheek. Magnifico let out a small whimper and then chuckled, he let Melody go, "I will definitely come to you as soon as I finish my work."

"Fine, bye!"

"Bye!" Magnifico waved at her childishly.

Melody closes the door behind her, then goes down the stairs to the dining room.

Some time passes, it's almost night, after eating the last piece of chocolate cake, Melody goes back to study, although Magnifico had said that he would come. Melody is less patient than these words. As she reached the door, she heard Magnifico's voice, as if he was talking to himself and laughing, Melody frowned a little from the sign of confusion, she slowly put her head on the door to hear something, but she couldn't hear anything clearly, so she decided to open the door slowly. She slowly puts her hand on the door handle and opens it silently, she sees a green light in the room through the gap of the door that she opened. She saw that light, she got exactly the same feeling as when she saw that spell book. Opens the door further and slowly walks in, Magnifico with his back to her and the spell book open in front of him, saying something and smirks every now and then.

"I didn't use you all this time because you were forbidden, but now that I see you're not that bad, what powerful spells you have in you that I can even take the whole world under my control.." Magnifico was talking to the book and gave a few evil giggles. Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed Melody, looked at her, "Uh, Melody... What did I tell you, dear? I said I will come to you later... and now.. you didn't even knock on the door."

"You must respect the privacy of others." He sighs and rubs between his eyebrows with his thumb and forefinger. "I hope you have a good reason to disturb me.. although I know you don't." He looks at her, gets a little serious, but still looks at her calmly.

"What if I have a good reason? Dad, can I tell you my opinion about this book?"

"Huh? This book you say?" He points to the large spell book that was open in front of him, Melody confirms with a nod. "Well, what do you think about this book?"

"I feel this book is evil."

"What? what do you mean?"

"I have a feeling that this book is not good!"

"Hmmm.. What's your reason for it then?" He raises an eyebrow and puts a hand on his chin and scratches his goatee a little.

"When you look at it, you feel that you are attracted to it.. It's like it wants to conquer you.. Even from the lime green color it has, it's not that good. Worst of all, this book is a spell book as you said! So it means that it has both good and bad spells! Who knows, maybe it will cause irreparable losses!"

Leaning on the table, Magnifico listened to Melody, through the look of those -why should I listen to you at all- looks. He chuckles a little and shakes his head.

"Big words come out of your mouth. When did you grow up so much that I didn't notice? How old are you darling? Seven? Hehe, don't worry my dear, you are still a child, you don't want to involve yourself in the issues of adults. I myself know how to protect myself and people from danger, I am a king!"

Magnifico goes back to the book, telling Melody to leave, but Melody is not listening.

"But even kings make mistakes. you have to stay away from the book! I know if you use it, its magic will corrupt you.. that's what I feel!"

Little by little, he gets impatient, rolls his eyes and turns back to the book again, concentrates on it, and the more Melody talks, the more nervous he gets, while he runs his hand over the writings in the book and the green light becomes more and more. Melody approaches him from behind so that she can take him away from the book.

"Enough melody, go back to your room."

"But Dad.."

"I said go!"

"But you have to listen to me! That book does not look good at all! I know they say don't judge a book by its cover, but this one is really a bad decis-"

"I am the one who decides what is good and what is bad!"

(Remember the scene? when the king told Asha I decide, so remember his hand movement because it's in this scene too.)

As Magnifico said this, his eyes glowed green and he was out of control, when he turned his hand, it passes by the side of Melody's face and she instinctively pulls herself back, but the mystical green lights that came out of Magnifico's hand hit Melody's face and scratched it. She clutches her eye in pain and fell to her knees, her black hair falling over her face and only a small glint of her tears showing through the strands of hair.

"This is what happens when you don't listen to me, your father, the king! now go to your room and you have no right to come out!" You should taste the punishment once."

A small stream of blood drips from Melody's face. She doesn't cry or say anything, just stares at Magnifico with one eye open through the messy hair. As Magnifico goes back to the book, Melody gets up with both hands firmly pressed against her newfound scar, not wanting to make it worse so she quickly leaves. She tried to go to her room without anyone seeing her, not even her mother, Amaya. In the darkness and shadows, she reached her room and quickly went in front of the mirror, slowly took both her hands, there was not so much blood, but a long scar was drawn on her left eye. Melody was relieved again that there was not much blood, she wiped the traces of it with a wet tissue. After a while she smirked at her scar and found it cool, but she was still upset and mad with her father.

"I have to teach him a lesson, I will torment him, I will make him wish a thousand times that this would not happen." The feeling of anger and revenge was all over the seven-year-old girl, she looked at the moonlight shining in through the window, then took a deep breath. Then she picked up the small leather bag that was under her bed, there her eyes fell on the doll bear that she had thrown under the bed, she picked it up and looked at it. "Loneliness is not good... Of course, for you, go back to your friends." She puts it next to the other dolls, her room was still a bit messy, But she didn't care, she took some papers and charcoal pencils and put them in her small leather bag, she always draws. Some clothes as well. Suddenly, her eyes fell on her necklace, which was on the table next to her bed. The same necklace that Magnifico put a spell on it to protect Melody from danger, she wasn't wearing it today, she sighed and put it on. "It's not there when you want it, it's in front of you when you don't need it." She says to herself, then closes her bag and opens the window with her telekinesis. The wind blows inside and the curtains waves. Melody looked out, but turned back from the window frame she was about to pass. Magnifico, who realized what he had done, goes to Melody's room with a regretful and worried face..

When he reached the back door of her room, he knocked softly and spoke in a very quiet and regretful voice. "Melody.. are you awake? If you are... I wanted to say that I'm really really sorry... I... I didn't know what I was doing at that moment... b- but you.. you were right... that book is not good at all and..." He sighs. "... I just wanted to make sure you're fine, so it's okay if I come in and.." He slowly turns the door handle and slowly looks inside, he sees that his room is still a mess and he doesn't see her, at first he thinks that she is hiding under the bed or the pillows or even closet. But when his eyes hit the open window, his heart beat faster, he quickly entered the. At first he thought this was another joke, so he searched the whole room, but there was no sign of her. His lips and hands tremble. "Melody..? This joke is not funny at all.. Come out wherever you are.." As Amaya was walking down that corridor, she heard Magnifico's voice and entered. Amaya was also worried when Magnifico told her what happened.

Ordering to search everywhere to find Melody. While Magnifico was scared and in a hurry, searched all over the places where Melody might be there. "I know you're upset because I argued and harmed you, but my dear, don't bother me more than this! Come out wherever you are, I'm sure we can solve it with talking."

While the whole city is in disarray looking for Melody, Magnifico and Amaya are in their room and he is pacing back and forth in front of the fireplace, his mind racing. Amaya is almost as worried, sometimes she looks at the city from the big window, the torches move in the dark and the voices calling "Princess Melody".

Magnifico's heart beats fast, and while putting his hand over his mouth to control the trembling, he moves back and forth in front of the heat of the fireplace so much that whatever tears are in his eyes evaporate, but they never end.

His voice trembles and he walks faster than before. "How could I... why didn't I listen to her one more time... it's my fault... no, it's not my fault, it's the book's fault... that book..." Amaya touches his shoulder and tries to comfort him, although she is not in a good condition either.

They don't stop searching for Melody, when he thought about the books, he got angry and his blood boiled, he just wanted to get rid of it, so he put it behind the glass and put a spell on it.

Magnifico's hair turned white sooner because his mind is no longer at peace, the whole kingdom can't bear this pain anyway, so he casts an oblivion spell across the island without even telling Amaya. He even covered the door of Melody's room with a wall and sealing away any memories of her, and the spell continues until Melody is mentioned or returned herself. And in his own words, he forgets her because the grief of losing her kills him.

(I'm sorry if I had mistakes, my native language is not English and I'm still learning, and I admit that I shortened the beginning of the story a lot because the draft was ridiculously not saved and I had to write it again)

I watched Wish recently, and regarding what people had said, it wasn't bad.

It wasn't good either but it wasn't bad it was... meh.

(Might be spoilers but yeah, if you didn't/don't want to watch it my little analysis won't really interest you)

Now as a Disney and animation fan, I must talk about it because I watched it very late and still manage to bear my own opinion even if no one asked for it so here it is yoohoo

Did I laugh ? Yes two are three times (and no joke, I was the only one cause I'm an easy-laughter); did I smile ? Sure; did I find some music interesting ? Kinda; were the colors pretty ? Yes; the animation for a disney ? Err... m'k.

I get people that like it, there are things that are interesting, it... passes the time, you can show it to toddlers, but yeah, I mostly get people that didn't because I was kinda disappointed. If you take one thing apart from the other, it's quite awful, and when you put it all together it's a "hell no", especially because it's supposed to be the 100th Disney classic. I mean, I get the point of foreshadowing old classics, but some were really messed up like- some characters are just carbon copies of old design ? Asha's best friend is Snow white if she was a disabled four-eyed girl, the tired guy looks like the rich guy in Big Hero 6 and Bambi ? Little John ?? Can't you do that any clearer, we're fucking blind here.... I mean, ok I laughed when I heard that but I don't count I'm an easy laughter, wtf was that, like- I couldn't help but look at my brother like "did you see the same shit I just saw ? And you forced me to come and pay for that ?" and I was mostly laughing out of embarrassment because I WAS ALONE GIGGLING TEARS OF WTF-NESS

Some things were cool I guess, like the mirror effects when Magnifico sings I think ? And at the end when he elsa'd his castle to take the star. The Jafar effect wasn't bad either, but because it's Jafar effect and Jafar is a fucking badass, same with Elsa-ying the castle, because this scene in frozen was very cool

I felt bad at first but I must say, the songs are very disappointing. Like I wasn't expecting much, and it sure stuck in the head easily but that doesn't mean it's nice. The ones I appreciated were the song about the wishes (the clip is pretty) and maybe the revolution song (but the clip was urgh and why the hell they look so lifeless ???) I get why people said it was made by AI lol

In terms of character, except the Queen and grandpa, I didn't like any of them. Like usually I can't hate or dislike a Disney character, but here ? None of them was fine to me. Actually, I felt nothing from them. The villain was erh... basic I guess, he could be nice like the woman in The Rescuers but no he was, well basic "I'm perfect they should be grateful but they are not so let's become an asshole !" So yeah. Disappointed. He was a better villain than Hans, tho, maybe because Hans wasn't supposed to be a villain at first and that Magnifico was like Jafar, Evil Queen and Scar had a baby. Also, it seems to me like they didn't have a few or any -like ANY- personality, like- I CALLED THE TREASON OUT THE MOMENT I SAW THE LIFELESS BIG BOY COMON'

Now, I'm coming to people saying all the kids love it and I'm too old for that: no. No, I'm not too old for that, Disney is for everyone. No, not all the kids will love it, kids get easily bored, and this movie isn't very attractive. I bet if I show this to my nieces and nephews and siblings, they wouldn't care less - and they already don't very much care about movies in general when you put one for them. There were at least four kids in the theater and none laughed, or sounded interested, one preferred to play on his daddy's phone ??? well, I know all kids aren't like that, but really, this movie wasn't made to content the kids, it was made to content the fans clearly, that is why the movie isn't good.

Anyways, if you enjoyed it good for you ! The colors are pretty and the technic used is interesting, the chara design of Asha and the Queen are pretty, I can't say anything for the rest, tho, because the bg design is just resuming the old (and new *cough* encanto *cough*) classics anyway, but less good at guess... but really, if you like it, good for you, and say why, so I don't have a bad souvenir of it forever lol
