#Dark Runningnose
bonefall · 2 years
Note
Skystar and Mapleshade during a trial where a dark forest cat is needed as a witness, but makes them mad: "Turn up the heat, huh Firestar?"
Firestar: "Oh, sure." =3
Dark Forest Cat: *screams.*
_____
Also:
Tigerclawstar: "Runningnose, it's not fair! Firestar gets FIRE POWERS, and all I get is multiple legs!"
Runningnose: *actually likes Firestar but knows Tigerstar won't like anything that sounded like praise towards the ginger furred leader.* "....He sucks, I guess."
It's times like this where Runny really misses Brokenstar, because back then if he wanted to use up one of his "favor points" he could just say it and then hide behind his badger-sized bestie. Like,
"Hmm. Perhaps he got fire powers because, compared to you, he is simply cooler."
"WHAT?! I'LL MAKE YOU--" but when he turns to strike the little snotball he's perfectly nestled under Brokenstar's chin, purring affectionately, and Broken gives Tigerstar a little warning growl.
...But, sadly, Runningnose is pulled from the fantasy of having his Vengefully Manifested Force Of Nature by his side again, blinking it out of his mind before anyone notices he's smiling.
So, he sighs and nods along to Tigerstar's stupid, petty feud with the little orange twink. Even though Firestar is a better leader in almost every way.
He ponders for a brief moment if they ever did manage to resurrect SkyClan. Hopes that Brokenstar finally found his peace.

Medicine Cat Brokenstar AU
An AU where Brokenkit, instead of training as a warrior, is drawn to the medicine den. Raggedstar, ecstatic that his son is going to one day be the medicine cat, is very eager. Yellowfang has her misgivings, seeing the dark gleam in Brokenkit’s eyes and seeing how uncaring he is of his Clanmates. She agrees to train him nonetheless due to Raggedstar’s pestering and because, she ought to give him a chance, at least. He’s only a kit, he can still change. However, as Brokenpaw’s training progresses, it only becomes more clear to Yellowfang that her son is a monster just waiting to show his true form. Yellowfang, grieving over being unable to save her son from evil, gives him the name Brokenheart. (And yes, I know that that is quite possible the edgiest name that could exist in the canon world of Warriors. That’s why I did it.)
Brokenheart would have a stranglehold over Runningnose, a warrior in this AU, and would suggest to Raggedstar to make him deputy. Maybe Brokenheart even poisoned Cloudpelt so he could get Runningnose appointed deputy. From there, he’d poison Raggedstar so Runningnose became leader. Just think of it, a leader that Brokenheart could manipulate like a puppet.
Yellowfang would see the symptoms and odd timings of all these deaths and start to get suspicious, but she has no proof of anything and ShadowClan likes Brokenheart. As evil as he is, he is a good, skilled medicine cat, and they all trust him. Realizing that Yellowfang is onto him, Brokenheart poisons some kits and pins the blame on Yellowfang.
Firepaw makes sure Brokenheart is driven out of ShadowClan. Runningstar just leaves the Clan territories and never returns, but Brokenheart is still a menace just like in canon.
This AU would make Brokenstar’s death even more poetic: killed the same way he took his victims’ lives, unknowingly fed poison. Maybe he could try to tempt Jaypaw to the Dark Forest after he starts training as a medicine cat. Maybe he could even tempt Hollypaw while she’s still training. This wouldn’t work, but it would be cool to see an evil medicine cat.

Some Dark Forest members that either are put there in the rewrite or little OCs (that aren't really important too often but the Dark Forest needs more than 10 cats come onnn)
Version 1.1: Lizardstripe is now a pretty different kitty and is no longer on this list, her ex Mudstep is here however, and Leopardstar's morality has finally been cemented.
Version 1.2: Clarified Batear and Fenneldust's crimes, as well as recreated Clear Sky's role as no longer self inflicted, but rather a punishment from his first victim.
Spiderclaw - Spottedleaf's killer instead of Clawface, Brokenstar's lackey.
Thornclaw - Supports the Dark Forest, dies during the Great Battle and banished upon death.
Mudstep (Lizardstripe's mate) - Though he had an okay relationship with Runningnose, and was proud to raise a Medicine Cat son, he was a terrible mate and poor excuse for a father, the cherry on top being his physical abuse of Brokenkit. Abuse of kittens and mates is not tolerated by Starclan.
Rabbitswoop - Riverclan Dark Forest Trainee, he takes one of Mistystar's lives before Hawkfrost kills him.
Milktail - Born during the Brokenstar era and hates her non-clan born adopted brother. She supports Tigerstar, Blackstar makes her deputy after her "I'm sooo sorry' act that actually is convincing. She and Mistfang (Tigerstar's surviving sister) try to kill Blackstar only to get stopped by her adoptive brother. She is a piece of the Blood Will Spill Blood Prophecy (which you can imagine drove her mad), along with Hawkfrost killing Mistfang.
Mistfang - Speaking of. Tigerclaw's dickhead sister. Her attitude stemmed not from 'being spoiled' or anything like that. But the fact that her brother was praised for his strength non-stop, which made this once sweetheart begin to act more like her brother, on a very dangerous path. She thinks her brother is perfect, and idolized him. She followed him to the Dark Forest after being killed by her own nephew.
Nestfur - Another Brokenstar lackey, killed by Mudclaw during the Battle Of Bloodclan.
Parsnipfang - Shinecloud's brother. Oakstar's brother-in-law, Birchface and Frecklewish's uncle. Tried to kill the leader and abused his mate to gain power, Oaksnap (Oakstar) killed him before he could kill the leader, becoming deputy after his death, but something feels... Familiar, about that scenario.
Ratscar - Dark Forest Trainee who kills (yes, KILLS) Blackstar with Redwillow's help (not that he'll let Redwillow have any credit), before Ferncloud beats him into paste.
Rotflower - Rainflower.
Leopardstar - Genuine Tiger Law supporter who tried to instill the mentality into Hawkfrost, and allowed Tigerclan to get out of control/endorsing it.
Onestar - Prison Sentence, but not for too long. Roughly 1 and a half moons.
Sol - After his death, he is banished here and he is PISSED about it, everyone picks on him, guy basically has a kick-me sign on his butt.
Frecklewish - HANG ON! Let me explain. She CHOSE to be in the Dark Forest, because she realizes what Thunderclan has done, and no one but Mapleshade was punishes for trying to give them justice. She can travel the border at will, but spends most of her time in the Dark Forest.
Batear - Fenneldust's boyfriend who helped cover up the murder and supplied the 'weapon', a Boar.
Fenneldust - Thunderclan cat who killed the Medicine cat that gave an omen that she would make a bad deputy. Gee, I wonder why?
Quick Water - Apologizing as you bleed out is not enough. She is one of the OLDEST spirits there, and is mostly uninvolved in things.
Oakstar - Only punished after a huge uproar Frecklewish started. But he seems to be missing. How odd...
One Eye - The OG Dark Forest King.
Star Flower - A genuine force of evil, like she should have always been. Dark Magic practices and trying to destroy the Clans leads to her getting trapped in the Dark Forest.
Clear Sky - Due to not being leader, his toxic influence is now seen by the spirits of Starclan. Bright Storm had the most perfect punishment for him. You wanna make borders? You can be one. To protect the cats of Starclan from the ones in the Dark Forest, Bright Storm and the other cats of Starclan sacrificed his spirit to become the fog border around the area, the fog choking and thick, just like his thick white fur. Now only appears as blue eyes in the shadows and a disembodied voice. His spirit has whittled away, now gaining holes in it. Not to mention the... things... rumored to be laying within the fog.
Gray Wing - The OG Curse Layer. His horrid enabling behavior has damned him, but he'll never see it that way. He technically still roams the earth, but he SHOULD be here. His hatred is toxic, and he plans to destroy the Stars of the Clans, starting with Riverclan....

Clan culture
I always kinda disliked how similar the clans are despite how big of a deal they make out of half-bloods and transferring warriors. How many arcs can “omg did you hear where they’re from?” gossip work?
I headcannon that the four clans are each much more different culturally, and each function differently.
Thunderclan, descendent a of loin prides, deeply rely on one another and just about do everything in packs. Valuing loyalty above all, those who are excellent team coordinators and self-sacrificing for their clanmates are admired and revered.
Physically, they are the second biggest of the clans and muscular with large manes and warm colors adorning their coats. They select their leaders with vocal support, so deeply networked with each other they often shove forward the cat they think is best forward when picking deputy. This same connection is also why most cats are named after another in dedication (example: brambleclaw au where he is renamed brambleflower after his mother), and why the other clans consider them invasive and nosy.
Shadowclan’s secrecy and distrust is formed by their tiger ancestors, naturally suspicious of outsiders but capable of forming deep lifelong friendships with their peers. They admire the battle-hungry, often showing off their scars and named after their victories. (Example: RunningNose is named after his first curing of a clanmate with a cold.)
Largest of the clans, they have huge dark dense coats often tangled or matted with scars and thorns and often seen as brutes. With great dedication to battle, they only select their greatest fighters as leaders with potential deputies proving themselves worthy in a ritual skirmish with the leader.
Riverclan, made up of the blood of leopards and jaguars, are considered vain by the other clans but no-doubt the most beautiful and successful. With plentiful food and lack of predators thanks to the protection of the rivers, most conflict comes from within.
These cats have silky pelts decorated with complex patterns in cool colors and are often named for their looks (Example: Leopardstar) Due to their own sureness, their leaderships often delve into monarchies, with blood relation marking a cat’s status.
Windclan get their speed and smarts from cheetahs, valuing cunning above all and rivaling the fox in wits. Intelligence is needed to survive the open fields, their greatest thinkers and problem solvers worshipped and praised. They often named after their personalities, queens sometimes waiting a couple of days to get to know their kits before naming them. (Example: BreezeKit named by Nightcloud in honor of his headstrong mannerisms.)
Much more skinny then the rest of the clans, their long lanky legs, dull coats, and large attentive ears making them appear awkward to the other clans. While seen as cowards by outsiders for their lack of confrontation, their intelligence and openness to discussion makes their selection of next the leader the most efficient with each member voting for one of the running candidates with stones.
Skyclan is an excluded clan, isolated to the mountains and descents of a mixture of cougars, bobcats, and other travelers. Much less strict socially, they are known for their willingness to accept outsiders and valuing most well traveled cats and knowledge of the lands. They are named after the places they’ve seen and origins. (Example: LeafStar named after the amber valleys of fall she once called home.)
These cats are small, with large paws and immensely dense coats and unique coloring that seems to stick to no pattern. Due to the youth of this clan’s creation, their leadership seems to be more un-centralized with a small group of advisors surrounding the leader at all times to input their opinions on matters. As you can imagine, picking a new leader after one’s passing is considered a laborious task of bickering and conflict.

Lavendernose design? 👀 Mayhaps? I want to see the baby
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A picture of Lavendernose, an AU version of Runningnose. He is a fluffy, stocky mottled white and grey tom with slightly droopy ears and egg-yellow eyes. The fur around his nose and underneath his eyes is missing and patchy. He has a band of dark brown leather around his neck that is lined with white fur, and has a repeating purple crescent pattern. It has a ring of bone, which a veil of translucent purple fabric hangs off his haunches. End ID.] Time for evil man.

So sorry for another language submission😥 I am Hungarian and we only have 3 books transtaled. I never actually read them, but did peek into the pdfs found online. They did a very lazy job with it, most noticeably in the allegiances, they didn't bother changing them at all, just copy-pasted the into the wild allegiances to the rest of the books
I could talk about the translation and how I would've written it myself all day... I actually think of starting to transtale/continue translating it (I actually kind of do that on here).
Now to the weird translations:
Cats with the suffix stripe/tail/eye/nose/pelt/fur/face/etc. Aren't normally transtaled. For example:
-Darkstripe is Sötétcsíkos, which transtales to dark striped.
-Willowpelt is Fűzfakéreg, which means Willowbark
-Longtail is Hosszúfarkú, meaning Long tailed
-Mousefur is Egérbundás, meaning Mouse pelted (for some reason they randomly use pelt for fur and vice versa sometimes)
-Apprentice names end with mancs - paw, but they also give it to cats with the suffix foot apparently. When I first read into it I didnt know who "Ködösmancs" was and why she was called a warrior, turns out, it's mistyfoot. But for some reason they call Ashfoot "Hamutalp" which transtales to Ashsole.
-this one isn't much of a complain as the others, they call Runningnose wetnosed, I find this one adorable.
-Wetfoot is Wetsole, Nedvestalp
-Leopardfur is Panther pelted🤨(Párducbundás)
-Nightpelt/star is Night Striped (Éjcsíkos)
-Deadfoot is now also Deadpaw
-ONEWHISKER IS STUMPY WHISKERED
-Thunderpaths are Thundering paths, love that
-They call Clans Tribes. So we have Thunder Tribe, Wind Tribe and River Tribe, then idk why, but they made ShadowClan fancy; Tribe Of The Shadows (Árnyak Törzse).
I apologize if this whole thing is very rambly, I didn't plan on writing this. I wrote whatever weird thing I found while reading the first few chapters on Fire And Ice😭

Note
Why was Runningnose in the dark forest in ur au?
WAR CRIMES! LOTS OF THEM! A LOT OF WAR CRIMES!
Bonefall Runningnose is very different from canon. Instead of being another victim of Brokenstar desperately trying to do harm reduction and save people from his madness, Runny is his partner-in-crime. Brokenstar is the brawn and passion, Runny is the brains and calculation.
A short list of things Runny did, in increasing severity:
Forbidden magic. He spoke with the Dark Forest whenever StarClan refused to speak to him, learning lots of poisons and forbidden treatments
Frenzy herbs. One of the banned treatments he got from the Dark Forest was how to turn warriors into berserkers (to be clear this is not a 'mind control' thing, this is an 'eat this root to maul your enemies' thing).
Covered the claws of warriors in deathberry juice to cause infection. The intent behind this action was to dwindle WindClan's herb supply and kill as many combative warriors as possible.
Covered Raggedstar's murder. Brokenstar killed Raggedstar only once, his father's last life. Runningnose helped to cover this up.
Complicit in a massacre. He helped to plan the invasion into WindClan's camp at every step, ensuring that there would be no ShadowClan losses as they slaughtered scores of WindClan cats.
Killed Marigoldkit. They needed to get Yellowfang out of the way, one of the last voices of reason, so they could invade WindClan's camp. Marigoldkit was blinded by an eye infection and was taking herbs in a raspberry 'capsule' to encourage her to eat them. Runningwind filled the raspberry with poison and tricked Mintkit into saying Yellowfang killed his sister "with red berries."
Started an epidemic in ShadowClan to kill Cinderfur and Nightstar. To make way for Tigerclaw to become deputy, and then leader. Nightstar was too weak, Tigerclaw had ambition, and Brokenstar always approved of him. The sickness was on purpose. It was caused by a sick bat and blamed on a carrionplace rat.
If Runningnose has any regrets, it's that last one. It leads directly to the death of his brother, Deerfoot, and Tigerstar aimed to eventually disband ShadowClan. Runningnose realized that too late.
So, if 6 reasons weren't enough for StarClan to send him to the Dark Forest, there's also the fact that Runningnose doesn't want to be there. He thinks they're a bunch of smug hypocrites, and besides, he doesn't want to be anywhere that Brokenstar can't go. He walks into the Dark Forest without a second thought.

My 10% Left AU
I saw the idea of a 10% left after the Dark Forest Battle AU and LOVED the idea, so I decided to run with it! Thank you to @10leftau for putting the Allegiances list up, and for coming up with the idea!
((TW: Mentions of death/dead bodies, brief mention of self-imposed starvation/ED, orphaned child))
The Survivors:
TC: Bumblestripe, Poppyfrost, Mousefur, Purdy
SHC: Mistkit
WC: Crowfeather, Owlwhisker, Gorsetail
RC: Reedwhisker, Mintfur, Icewing, Robinwing, Graymist
The Story:
The 12 (hang on) survivors meet on the Gathering Island. Reedwhisker, being the only surviving deputy, assumes the role of leader, naming Crowfeather his Deputy. Poppyfrost takes on the role of medicine cat, she spent a lot of time with Jayfeather in the medicine den after he saved her life as an apprentice so she picked up a few things, and she also wants to honor her friend. She treats the others' injuries as best she can, and they bed down for the night.
The next day, while helping to clear ShadowClan camp with Bumbletripe and Icewing, Poppyfrost hears loud mewing, and follows it to where a little gray lump of fur. Mistkit, daughter of Kinkfur.  Her eyes aren’t even open yet, but she’s now the sole survivor of ShadowClan. Poppyfrost is immediately reminded of her precious kits, Cherrypaw and Molepaw, who were too young to be thrown into the war with The Dark Forest. Not that it would have mattered in the end, the lawless cats they fought against didn’t care who they killed. She and the group bring Mistkit back, and Icewing takes care of her while they try to figure out what to do about nursing her. Poppyfrost suggests the Horseplace cats, remembering what Berrynose told her about the cats he and his mother and siblings lived with, and while the others are apprehensive, Reedwhisker states that it’s their best bet. Gorsetail accompanies Poppyfrost there, and while Floss is sympathetic to the kit, she explains that she has no milk to offer but mentions Coco, another loner who recently kitted and may have milk to share. Smoky takes the two Clan cats to where Coco lives, and they meet the marbled brown tabby she-cat with three kits. She agrees to take in Mistkit, and returns to the Gathering Island with Gorsetail and Poppyfrost. On the way back, Gorsetail mentions that Kinkfur must’ve fought like LionClan to protect her kits, remembering the time that her own kits went missing, and how she would have torn down the forest with her bare claws to get them back. She and Poppyfrost bond over their lost kits, and vow to do whatever they can to keep this little one safe.
With Mistkit in the makeshift nursery with Coco and her kits (Maizie, Willow, and Stormy) and reconstruction and rebuilding efforts underway, Reedwhisker decides now is the time to receive his Nine Lives. He and Poppyfrost go to the Moonpool, and drink from it. While Reedwhisker becomes Reedstar, Jayfeather appears to Poppyfrost alongside Cinderpelt, Yellowfang, Runningnose, Mothwing, and several other medicine cats, and explains to her that while StarClan is a bit of a mess right now, they will do everything they can to teach her everything they know. They welcome her as a proper medicine cat, and allow her to reunite with her sisters, brother, and kits for a moment before returning to the waking world. She and Reedstar return to the Island with StarClan’s blessing, and though the celebration is small, it’s still something. After deliberation, the group agrees to permanently settle on the Island (at least for now while they work on burying the dead and cleaning the former Clan Camps). Mousefur decides to spearhead building more permanent structures, and Poppyfrost realizes that she hasn’t seen her eat since before the Great Battle. She tries to dismiss it, maybe she ate while she was out, but decides to keep an eye on her.
In the days to come, the Clan cats work on rebuilding what they can. Once Mistkit and the other kits are weaned, Coco offers to help, and has even started to grow close to Robinwing in the process. Poppyfrost has started gathering herbs based on what she learns with Jayfeather in her dreams, and has put together a medicine den. Crowfeather establishes patrols each day for hunting, burials, herb gathering, and den building, and everyone pitches in. As Poppyfrost works, she notices Mousefur has started to eat again. Eventually, the she-cat confides in her that she’d has a crushing amount of survivor’s guilt, being an elder that survived when so many young, more “useful” cats are dead, and that rebuilding dens and gathering herbs makes her feel useful. Poppyfrost tries to explain to her that she doesn’t need to force herself to be useful in order to justify her survival, and that her being here keeps ThunderClan’s spirit and memory alive, but has a feeling it falls on deaf ears. She and Gorsetail start to become good friends, and the she-cat comes to talk to her often. About 3 moons pass, and the group has grown closer. Coco formally joins the Clan, takes the name Flowerpetal, and her kits are Stormykit, Willowkit, and Maizekit. Reedstar suggests they hold a Gathering, where they can remember the fallen and hold a vigil for all the cats they lost. They do so, and Reedstar suggests creating a memorial. Robinwing offers to spearhead it, and together the cats create a large pile of stones, one for each cat who passed. They vow to keep the memory of each of their fallen Clanmates alive, and to teach every kit ever born in the clan the story of the Memorial.
Mistkit and her foster siblings become apprentices about 4 moons after the Gathering, becoming Mistpaw, Stormypaw, Maizepaw, and Willowpaw. Flowerpetal moves into the Warrior’s Den, and formally becomes mates with Robinwing, while Icewing and Mintfur (who were mates before the Great Battle) announce that they are having a litter of kits, which excites the new Clan. When discussing who should mentor them, Reedstar, Crowfeather, and Poppyfrost realize that with cats of all clans here there’s really no one fighting and hunting style, so they decide that the kits will be sort of communal apprentices, with a different warrior taking each of them every day. The apprentices even come to Poppyfrost to learn the basics of healing.
Mistpaw and her siblings become warriors 6 moons later. Reedstar names Mistpaw Mistshadow, to honor the Clan that she was born in and carries the legacy of, while her siblings are named Stormysky, Maizeseed, and Willowbranch. Icewing gives birth to 4 healthy kits: two toms named Riverkit and Thunderkit, and two she-cats names Shadowkit and Windkit, one for each of the clans. Flowerpetal is also in the nursery, expecting Robinwing’s kits. As Reedstar stands there, he realizes their new clan has no name. He decides to call it DawnClan, for the fact they are the dawn of a new era.
