Backstory: "Have you ever wanted to write a story before?

I did, once upon a time. Many drafts, many attempts. Yet none of them ever sparkled. Each and every time, I felt as if something wasmissing from them. They felt flat, bland, and uninteresting.

That is- until the day I found that book.

Do not ask me where it came from or how it truly works—that is something I am uncertain of. However, when I made contact with it... I awoke in a blank, white void. I was confused at first and frankly horrified. Would I ever be able to return to the mortal coil? Was I dead? Is this what the afterlife is like...? As the certainty of the situation began to set in, I screamed out of frustration, "LET ME OUT OF THIS GOD-FORSAKEN PLACE!" Then, right before me, a door appeared. It was almost as if genuine, true magic had occurred in front of my very eyes. Walking forth, I pressed my hand on the door... And I was back in my study.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------Weeks turned into months, and it grew into an obsession. Whatever I wished for became true within that void. My stories finally had color to them—my MASTERPIECES finally had that spark that they were missing. It all made sense. I was not a poor creative; I was merely missing my final piece! I was merely missing the light that had begun the universe.

Finally, I was able to see my puppets perform for me personally. Nothing else mattered, as the world was my stage now, and there is nothing else that mattered.

2024 Isuzu T20 Live Score, Live Streaming, Teams, Date, Time and More

The Isuzu Men’s T20 Smash 2024 is scheduled to start on March 29 and conclude on April 13 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Organised by Cricket Papua New Guinea (PNG), the Isuzu Men’s T20 Smash 2024 will see as many as four teams compete in a total of 14 matches.

Black Bass Men, Cassowaries Men, Mariners Men, and Mudmen Men are the four teams that will participate in the upcoming domestic T20 tournament.

Each team will play the other three sides twice in a double round-robin format. The top two teams in the standings after all the league matches will qualify for the final.

Meanwhile, the third and fourth-placed teams will square off in the third-place playoff.

The Isuzu Men’s T20 Smash 2024 final will take place on April 13.

All matches in Isuzu Men’s T20 Smash 2024 will be played at Amini Park in Port Moresby.

All PNG international cricketers including the likes of Norman Vanua, Assad Vala, Lega Siaka, Sese Bau, wicketkeeper Hila Vare, Hiri Hiri, and Semo Kamea will feature in the upcoming domestic T20 tournament.

Kaia Gerber, Alba Baptista, Jessica Brown-Findlay and Sian Clifford Join Cast of David Lowery’s ‘Mother Mary’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Kaia Gerber, Alba Baptista, Jessica Brown-Findlay and Sian Clifford have joined the cast of David Lowery’s upcoming film Mother Mary from A24.

Starring Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel and Hunter Schafer, Mother Mary is described as an “epic pop melodrama” that follows a fictional musician (Hathaway) and her relationship with an iconic fashion designer (Coel). Schafer will play Hilda, the assistant of Coel’s designer, Sam.

The film is currently filming in Germany and is expected to wrap production within the next few weeks. In addition to writing and directing, Lowery will also produce the film alongside Toby Halbrooks, James M. Johnston Jeanie Igoe, Jonas Katzenstein, Maximilian Leo and Jonathan Saubach.

Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff have written and recorded a number of brand new songs that Hathaway is set to perform in the film, while Daniel Hart will compose the score.

Kaia Gerber was previously in American Horror Story and spin-off anthology series American Horror Stories. She can next be seen in Emma Seligman‘s Bottoms alongside Rachel Sennott and Ayo Edebiri. Alba Baptista is known for her starring turn in Netflix series Warrior Nun, as well as her performance in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris. Jessica Brown-Findlay most recently appeared in Paramount+ series Flatshare, as well as Francesco Carrozzini‘s The Hanging Sun. Sian Clifford was most recently in See How They Run and is known for her performance as the titular character’s older sister in acclaimed BBC series Fleabag.

12 GREAT ARCHITECTURE & URBANISM DOCUMENTARIES THAT YOU CAN WATCH FOR FREE

1. EAMES: THE ARCHITECT AND THE PAINTER (2011) A comprehensive documentary on Charles and Ray Eames, modernism’s most influential design couple.  

2. CHOLET: THE WORK OF FREDDY MAMANI (2018) A fascinating look at the disconcerting ‘psychedelic baroque’ creations of this maverick Bolivian bricklayer-turned-architect, with a score by Moby.

3. MY ARCHITECT (2003) Documentary in which we join the son of Louis Kahn on his quest to understand his acclaimed but enigmatic father. 

4. URBANIZED (2011) A great documentary about urban design, and cities in general. Urbanized was the third part of Gary Hustwit’s trilogy on design, which included HELVETICA (2007) and OBJECTIFIED (2009).

5. CITIZEN JANE: BATTLE FOR THE CITY (2016) This documents the landmark conflict between writer/activist Jane Jacobs and developer Robert Moses, over plans to replace much of Manhattan with highways and austere housing projects. It also looks in detail at Jacobs’ ideas, and legacy.

👀 Twelve??? I kinda wanna hear about them now-

Thank you! And yeah, I know it’s a lot. I have twelve because they’re all in my fanfiction which is a series of vignettes told by different point of view characters, since it’s set before the events of the main game. I don’t update it often because I’m not proud of my writing, but I still have all the characters down. Buckle up, it’ll be long. 

The primary OCs of the story will be split into their locations: 

Norway:

Robin Skogstad: A major within the Norwegian military, Robin is part of a NATO detachment tasked with defending the Svalbard Global Seed Vault. A young major about 33, he has short blonde hair that he keeps swept under his hat, and freckles on his face. Despite his position, he’s kept out of the loop of what the scientists in the vault are actually doing. Will eventually be implied to be the basis for 9S in Nier Automata. 

Base Commander Berven: Robin’s superior, and the leader at the Svalbard Seed Vault. Berven is also a Norwegian Soldier, and he views all the troops under his command with the utmost respect, and expects them to all function efficiently and quickly. 

Doctor Stevens: An as-of-yet unintroduced character at Svalbard. An American Neuroscientist with a nervous disposition, he is the head researcher of the laboratory underneath the Svalbard Seed Vault. This project is using the NATO Soldiers stationed as part of a research project to create military androids, called YORHA.

Doctor Matsumoto: Doctor Stevens more calm and focused partner. He’s the one steering the project for his own goals, and the real brains behind the YORHA Project.

Enkeli: The NATO team’s sniper. A quiet Finnish/Russian woman with dark brown hair and green eyes. She is calm, focused, and composed, never letting her emotions get in the way of her job as a lookout. Good friends with Robin. Implied to be the basis for 2B. 

Tokyo: 

Arkady Tarkovsky: (Named for the Stalker Director/Roadside Picnic Author) is a young STALKER from Vladivostok. An individual who, for a high price, leads individuals into ruined/quarantined areas with the intent of gathering information and technology. An idealist who collects the technology he finds. 

Cesario Rocchi: An older Italian STALKER and mercenary. He’s looked up to as a father by the Stalkers under his wing. Known for his boisterous laugh and personality, he cares for those who pay for his services and the Stalkers he works with, being self-sacrificing. 

Doctor Suyong Park: An OC I created for a roleplay LONG ago that has become a mainstay in my works. She’s a Korean doctor who works for the WHO sent into Tokyo to gather samples of  White Chlorination Syndrome from Shinjuku where it all began for lab analysis. 

Ethan Harlacher: A journalist for the Associated Press who was sent into Tokyo to document the past to have a record of technology and such from before the city was abandoned. 

Brazil/Germany:

This chapter is still being written. Not proud of my work on it so it’s a VERY slow story that’s being developed. 

David Gardner: An Israeli-born US Army Sapper tasked with building a corduroy road through the Brazilian Jungle and assisting the Hamelin Crusaders in their effort to retake Brasilia from The Legion. Finds Caeruleum after she’s one of the only survivors of The First Crusade, and tries to take her back to Stuttgart. 

Daniel Thompson: A Sapper from Brooklyn, he’s a charming young man with a calm air. Frequently talks about food and tells jokes to lighten the mood. 

Grimoire Caeruleum/Ada Eisenstadt: A shy 15 year old girl who’s part of The Crusades. Of German Descent, she was taken from her home to act as a  a magic user for the Hamelin Organization. She is the last survivor of her unit following the disastrous First Crusade, in which a group of NATO Sappers and Hamelin Organization soldiers met their deaths on the highway entering Brasilia. 

Erhard Jentzsch: The German Billionaire who appealed to the UN to establish The Hanover Accord and repeal the law against Child Soldiers. This was because teenagers were the ones who best bonded to magic, which was seen as the best weapon against Legion Incursion. Leads The Hamelin Organization, which is an IGO which leads The Crusades to retake land. 

YORHA Androids:

4B: Going by “Forbes”, she’s a quirky android stationed in New York who based herself in the Palace of NI-SE, or the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE). She loves numbers and mathematics, and will frequently count her kills. (Created for a roleplay initially but might have a cameo)

Gestalts/Replicants: 

Aurelia: A young woman from Chicago who became a Gestalt following the death of her parents and registration into the program. Wields a longsword and Grimoire Caeruleum.

Siding with Postmodern Architecture

As we know, modern architecture was dead when Pruitt Igoe was demolished in 1972. Then, comes postmodern architecture. Well the term of postmodernism itself was introduced in the New York Times newspaper in the context of the presentation of the AT&T office building in Manhattan, New York, designed by Philip Johnson. The author applied a separation of the function and form. (GĄSOWSKA-KRAMARZ, 2020)

It is not quite right when we say that the AT&T Building is "the first of its type". However, it is legitimate to say that it is the first architecture to experience the maturation of evolutionary phase. Namely post modernism. With the existence of this building, it was also a breakthrough in the world of boring architecture (re: modernism) and meaningless architecture.

It heralded the dawn of the new era of iconic building, which was intensified for mass consumption and which was caused by the shifting paradigm of universal citizens about the existence of belief (religion) in them. Yes, post modern architecture had determinants that are outside its domain.

Reading Postmodern Arhitecture: Biggest Challenge

The biggest challenge in reading a postmodern architecture work is to understand its intention and what did they want to show or achieve? Considering a trend in post modern architecture, is an iconic building. Which, if we look further, has a duality of purpose. What started out in postmodern architecture was a "movement" to create something that was contrary to modern architecture, such as creating a meaning from within the architecture with the presence of semiotics and language embedded into the architecture. However, there is an external push to pursue a "fame" because, with a building becoming iconic, it can provide some benefits that can be achieved by some stakeholders. So the direction is somewhat the same as modern architecture, which initially carried a sacred mission but was tempted by capitalism. Likewise, postmodern architecture, which was initially anti-modernism, but over time also became a slave to capitalism by taking advantage of iconic buildings that emerged at that time to have political, economic and other intentions, which were not completely wrong. (Jencks, 2014)

So, if we return to the initial discussion, where the biggest challenge in reading a postmodern architecture is because its meaning, and actually not because its intention (bacause the intention itself is clear. E.g.: political intention, economic intention, etc.) because it is well written all over the face of a postmodern architecture. Meanwhile, the meaning is hard to decipher. Because one of the strategies to produce an iconic building is, it must produce enigmatic signifiers that allude to unusual codes. (Jencks, 2014)

For example, Norman Foster's Swiss Re skyscraper in London. It may give a different codes for each of us. Is it a missile? A finger? Or maybe a cigar? What is the meaning and true metaphor for this building? Or is it the intention of Norman Foster to create a variety of reactions to a building that is shaped like that? We never know, until he says so.

The Relevance Between Postmodern Architecture and Today’s Need

It is still a question for me wether postmodern architecture is still relevant for today or not. There is a love hate relationship between the society and postmodern architecture. I mean, when we talk about postmodern architecture or any style of architecture, they are not only in one year. Obviously, it is spread over several years in which they were going through some phases throughout the years. But, as I said at the beginning, postmodern architecture and modern architecture share a sacred mission to achieve a goal of their own, but were gradually consumed by capitalism and intentions, throughout the years of their phases, that were beyond their true intentions. Which were not completely wrong afterall. In fact, I think it is interesting when architecture can be an economic catalyst as well as a political tool. Thus, the problem of whether or not postmodern architecture today is relevant can be seen from the urgency of its design context.
