“Deal With a Devil: Birth of Nero” Chapter 14: “Resident Evil 4 Remake (Pt. 10)”

Ashley’s eyes opened sluggishly, a dull ache settling behind her eyes but it was no longer as intense as it had felt before, thankfully. She did give a groan as she felt a full body ache throughout her entire being. Recollection of what had happened throughout the night and remembering exactly where she was made her shoot up with a gasp.

Leon’s head whipped around to face her, “Ashley?” His voice asked softly, turning around completely to face her and check her over at the same time.

“Leon?” Ashley asked in a small voice, reaching out and touching the offered hand, “…it is you…thank god…”

“Why wouldn’t it be?” Leon asked with a raised brow.

Ashley shook her head, “I had…these awful nightmares…about me hurting you and then…” Her eyes looked downward, more so toward his stomach region.

Leon made her look him in his eyes, shaking his head, “It’s okay, you didn’t hurt me. They were just that; nightmares. You’re okay now. I got the suppressants from Luis.”

“Luis?” Ashley asked in a hopeful tone, “Is he…?”

Leon shook his head, “He was worried about you…until the end.”

Ashley deflated as she sat up fully, legs over the one side of the bed. She looked down at her hands, thinking of Luis and mourning him for a moment. He had been a little odd…but she knew deep down, he was…had been a good man. She just couldn’t believe he was gone.

Leon held up a hand as he got to his feet, “Come on. We don’t have much time. Let’s get rid of this thing.”

Ashley looked from his hand to his face, nodding in agreement as she took his hand in hers, “For Luis.”

Dante had rounded the corner, about to tell them of the danger coming their way when Leon’s comm went off again. Leon answered it, seeing Ada on the screen.

“Deal With the Devil: Birth of Nero” Chapter 9: “Resident Evil 4 Remake (Pt 5)

After some more finding, and fighting their way through the hordes of infected villagers, and the “Big Cheese”, Ashley and Leon were in a quiet spot, for now. Leon had to stop a couple of times, Nero practically demanding more food. Ashley pointed out that there were some chickens wandering around, knowing that they would feel bad about it later due to the fact that the chickens hadn’t fallen at the hands of the villagers, but would turn into chow for them and a baby demon.

So, after pitching a temporary camp, and Leon taking some eggs from the chicken coops instead, they managed to gather some supplies in order to cook the food. Leon made the fire after they both gathered the wood, Leon haphazardly making not the best scrambled eggs ever.

Nero turned in his stomach, Leon feeling a wave of nausea, not helping but to chuckle, “You’ll eat raw meat, parasites, and a snake, but eggs is where you’ll draw the line?”

Ashley raised a brow, but she too smiled, having gotten used to Leon talking aloud to the baby inside of him, “He’s not feeling scrambled eggs?”

”Nope.” Leon said with a pop of the “p”, “But, I’m hungry and I like scrambled eggs. He got to pick the other food we’ve both eaten, so now it’s my turn. Besides, raw eggs are where I’m drawing the line.” Ashley giggled as Leon shifted, though judging by the jerky motion and the look of surprise on his features, it had been an involuntary movement, “Hey! Don’t bully me.”

”He can do that?” Ashley asked, but then seemed to catch herself as Leon pulled the pan from the fire, “Well, obviously he can since he kind of possessed you at the cabin.”

Leon poked his own stomach, feeling something press back, Leon pouting, “Yeah. He’s certainly stubborn…though I don’t know if he gets that from his Dad or me.” He thought about it for a moment. “Probably me.”
