The Wrecks Songs that Would Describe a Relationship with Jason Todd [Pt. 2] - Jason Todd Imagine [Titans (HBO)]
Tumblr media
Title: The Wrecks Songs that Would Describe a Relationship with Jason Todd [Pt. 2]
Pairing: Jason Todd X Reader
Word Count: 1,616 words
Warning(s): mention of trauma
Author's Note: Here's the second part that I mentioned.
Parts one and two aren't explicitly connected, but you can read part one here!
**Not intentionally written in chronological order**
--------------------------
Four
So break your silence I might not like it But I'll still be the dog at your door
I had spent far longer than I should've looking for Jason all around the tower.
It would've gone faster if I had some help, but everyone I asked seemed to have some kind of chip on their shoulder. I decided not to argue about any of it. I knew that nothing good would come from it and would most likely just result in me getting snapped at. I didn't want to deal with any of them at the moment.
I found Jason in the training room.
"Hey," I said, trying to get his attention.
He didn't respond.
He had been like that for a while. Cold, disconnected. It made me feel sick. I wanted to help him, but I had no idea where to start when he wouldn't talk to me most of the time.
"Jason," I raised my voice a little, hoping that maybe he just hadn't heard me.
No response.
I took a deep breath before finding a clear spot by the wall. I moved over, going to sit on the floor with my back leaning against the wall.
If he wouldn't speak to me, then the least I could do was offer some kind of silent support.
I don't know how long I spent in that spot. I alternated between watching him train and picking at my nails.
"What are you doing," Jason finally asked after what felt like hours.
"Keeping you company," I shrugged.
He rolled his eyes at me, looking away again.
"I... I heard about... some of what happened, are you alright?"
"Why do you care?"
"Because you're my boyfriend and I care about you," I said.
He shook his head.
I pushed myself off the floor and walked over to him. I reached out and touched his arm. He pulled away from me.
"Jason," I muttered. He tried to turn away from me again. I reached forward and took a firmer hold of his wrist. "I care about you, Jason. I want to be there for you, but I can only do so much if you won't talk to me. I just... I need to know what you want. If you want me to stay, fine. If you want me to walk away, fine. But I'm going to abandon you just because you're shutting down. If anything, I'm going to work harder to get through to you."
He closed his eyes.
I felt tears fill my eyes. "I love you. A lot. I would do damn near anything for you... I just need to know what you want. Talk to me, reject me, yell at me, I don't care, but please, don't just shut me out. The silence hurts so much more."
I stepped forward and kissed his cheek, letting my forehead rest against him as my eyes closed.
"I trust you... I believe you."
I almost broke down when I felt his arms wrap around me.
I wrapped my arms around him, one of my hands finding the hair on the back of his neck.
I knew there were two definite paths in front of us. One was us moving forward together through all of this. The other was Jason letting me go and me having to watch him go through this without me.
I went to lean back, but Jason's arms tightened around me.
"Stay," he mumbled. "Please."
Those two words were enough of a step forward for the time being.
Ugly Side
I guess I've never known the real thing I never cared to look I swear I tried, but something scared me And I guess that's all it took
When Jason and I first met, he was cocky.
That was the best word to use.
His time as Robin had already gone to his ego somewhat.
I had been doing work around Gotham for a little while at that point. I had met and worked with Batman a few times, but that was the extent of it. I didn't need or want him to train me.
He did a lot of flirting.
It was all playful. Dumb little comments that I usually brushed off with a laugh or a smack on the arm... or the back of the head. It usually depended on the comment.
And then, I was invited to join the Titans in San Francisco. Batman asked me himself during an info exchange. He said something along the lines of "Gotham has its share of heroes, go somewhere that your work will be appreciated."
And no, I don't he actually believed that idea for a minute.
But still, I packed up my stuff and made it out there.
Met Dick, Rachel, and Gar. I finally got to see Jason outside of the suits and the masks.
The flirting started again, but it felt... different.
Maybe it was because he could see me now. Properly see me. Maybe something about the vulnerability of it all. It all just was... a lot. It was all just... different.
Or maybe I just felt different about it.
I had been in the kitchen getting myself some coffee when Jason walked in.
I was pouring in some creamer when he spoke up, "Careful, the coffee's gonna end up sweeter than you."
I rolled my eyes and put the creamer down on the counter. He moved to stand next to me with a little smirk on his face.
I bit my lip for a moment as he turned to make his coffee.
As he put the creamer back on the counter, I tapped on his shoulder. He looked over at me. I leaned over and pressed my lips to his.
It was like time froze for a few moments. Just a few. It was just the two of us and nothing else mattered.
He pulled away suddenly.
He blinked at me in silence.
"Jason," I said, furrowing my eyebrows at his reaction.
"I... I um, I gotta... I gotta go," he muttered. He walked away from the counter.
I caught his face turning red. I smirked a little bit. For the first time, I was the one making him nervous.
"What about your coffee," I asked, chuckling.
"I'll get some later- fuck!"
Jason shouted when he stubbed his toe against the edge of the counter. I covered my mouth to hold in my laugh.
"I'll... I'll see you later."
"Alright," I nodded.
Jason would end up asking me on a date three days later.
No Place I'd Rather Be
I like it when you hold me I can feel it in my lungs Inhaling in the morning sun I wonder how you woke it up
I woke up to a weight on my chest.
I furrowed my eyebrows for a moment, my brain not quite catching up with the present moment. I turned my head at an admittedly awkward angle to see Jason's hair.
Everything seemed to click in that moment.
Jason had curled himself into my side.
Jason had stayed in my room last night.
He was starting to do that more often.
His head was on my chest. His arms were locked around my torso. His legs lazily tangled with mine.
He was so calm... so content.
One of my hands found its way to his hair, attempting to run through it without finding some tangled section. My other hand rested on his upper arm. My thumb traced circles on the skin just under the sleeve of his t-shirt.
I let out a small sigh, letting my eyes close again.
I didn't move again until I heard Jason grumble as he stretched a bit. I looked down at him just as his head moved so he could look at me.
"Morning," I said quietly.
"Morning," he replied, leaning up to kiss me. He shifted a bit, holding himself over me.
I smiled into the kiss for a moment before leaning back. My hand cupped the side of his face. He leaned into my touch a bit.
"We should probably get up," I muttered, glancing at the clock on my bedside table. "Before Dick comes barging in and telling us to get ready to train."
"No," Jason grumbled, lowering himself back down, lying on me fully.
"Jason," I chuckled. "Come on-"
"Nope."
I was about to speak but he stopped me by pressing his lips to mine again. I rolled my eyes but kissed him back regardless.
He pulled away first this time. "I wanna stay here forever."
He sounded sleepy as he spoke. But the soft look on his face was enough for me to know how much he truly meant it. My hand found his hair again as my face warmed up a bit.
"I just wanna stay here with you. I feel safe here."
There was no way that I would get a fully awake Jason to ever admit to that. I wasn't going to interrupt him now.
"It just feels... right," he muttered. "With you."
"I feel safe with you too, Jason," I mumbled back.
We fell into a comfortable silence for a few moments.
It would've been longer if there hadn't been a knock on my door.
"I'm gonna fight him-"
I grabbed Jason's arm as he went to stand up. "Ignore him."
"You suddenly seem happy to hide here."
"I've been convinced," I shrugged, pulling him back to me. His arms returned to their place around my torso. "I love you."
"I love you too," he mumbled before kissing my collarbone.
That moment confirmed it.
I would go anywhere I had to as long as Jason was next to me when I did.

The Department of Education (DepEd) emphasized the importance of socio-emotional support for learners in the first episode of "Research O'Clock 2023." Assistant Secretary Dexter Galban outlined initiatives like the Career Guidance Program and National Drug Education Program to increase learners' resilience and address mental health needs. The first episode featured Helen Maasin discussing Project Digi-SEL or Digital Media as a Tool for Social Emotional Learning Opportunities, targeting least mastered skills in Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao(EsP). Ronnel King, an associate professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, also support the socio-emotional learning (SEL) programs and includes having explicit SEL instruction, SEL integrated with academic instruction, youth engagement, supportive school, classroom climates, and focus on adult SEL. DepEd plans to revive the After School Sports Program, expand initiatives like Barkada Kontra Droga Plus, and strengthen new and existing partnerships, and the Mental Health Program for the holistic development of the learners. Galban highlighted these efforts alongside learning recovery activities.
As a student who has actively participated in these programs, I can attest to the profound impact they have had on my academic journey and personal mental wellbeing. During a recent Career Guidance Program and National Drug Education Program, we delved into self-discovery exercises that not only guided me towards potential career paths but it also elevated my self-awareness to heights comparable to Mt. Everest. After reflecting on these significant steps outlined by Assistant Secretary Dexter Galban in the episode "Research O'Clock 2023", I remembered the profound words of Victor Hugo: "He who opens the door of the school, closes the prison." The Department of Education's emphasis on socio-emotional support through initiatives such as the Career Guidance Program and the National Drug Education Program reflects the urgent need to safeguard students' resilience in order to improve their academic performance and have a balanced lifestyle. Being a student today is undeniably stressful, given the number of tasks that demand our attention and timely completion. This program becomes important as many students face the challenges of adjusting to the new normal. For some, the pressure feels as terrifying as navigating a nightmare with Freddy Krueger - an anxiety-inducing experience that emphasizes the urgency of having effective support mechanisms in place

Sumusweldo ako ng 200 pesos per day.
Student assistant sa Dean's office ng college of science. 25 php per hr at max of 4hrs lang per day ang duty.
After a week ay nakahanap agad ako ng work bilang kitchen staff.
Nagwork ako as Adas 2 for more than 2 years at ngayon ay mag 3 yrs na as AO 2.
Nagmamahal,
JM Raymundo

WORKING AT BRAWN GP (James part)
2/14, 2011
Name: James Vowles Job Title: Race Strategy Engineer Age: 30 Lives: Oxford Hobbies: Motorbikes, Motorsport, Mountain Biking
Q. What studies did you complete before you worked in Formula One?
A. I wasn't entirely sure where I wanted to go in life when I was younger. I can say I was studious as most of my school reports stated James is clearly very intelligent, when he applies himself! I completed most of my education in Geneva at an International School and at about 16 years old, I started to dedicate myself a bit more, particularly enjoying Maths, Physics and Computing. This led me to return to the UK to study Computer Science at the University Of East Anglia as a stepping stone until I figured out where I was destined. I had done my fair share of karting to this point and loved motorsport. When I was growing up Sundays were mostly spent watching Formula One races with a friend who truly was like a brother to me. Until that point I considered motorsport a far fetched dream and after sending out CVs to all the F1 teams, with zero positive results (including one CV actually sent back to me!), I decided to dedicate my life to both getting into and then being successful in F1. I started working weekends at Snetterton Race Circuit, which was near my University, with Formula Ford and GT teams, building up both experience and contacts, until I finished my degree in 2000. From there, I was one of 20 students lucky enough to be selected for the first Cranfield University MSc in Motorsport Engineering course. The course was a baptism of fire, with the other 19 students being of extremely high calibre, all with Engineering backgrounds, most of who now work in either F1 or GP2. In September 2001 I graduated with a distinction, picking up a Prodrive award for the design of a school racing car.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q. Where did you work before Brawn GP?
A. In terms of motorsport, I started where all budding engineers should – scrapping rubber from GT racing slicks in a cold garage on a Sunday morning! When I was still doing my MSc in 201, Ray Rowan, who ran successful FIA Sportcars and F3 teams, gave me my first engineering role. I started as the Data Engineer for the F3 team and after a few months Ray felt comfortable enough to let me run the programme and engineer the car
from then onwards. That same year I became the Senior Race Engineer on their Le Mans programme, taking the Pilbeam LM675 car to Le Mans. In 2001, I applied for an Assistant Race Engineer position with British American Racing, and whilst I wasn抰 accepted for that role, I made enough of an impression for a new role to be created, and my first goal of entering Formula One was achieved. In 2002, I started work on a Race Strategy system and shortly afterwards joined the Race Engineering department and started travelling to the races. My role has expanded over the years combining Race Engineering duties, Friday car running with Anthony Davidson as our third driver in 2004 and 2006 and of course Race Strategy. In 2008 I was privileged enough to start working with Ross Brawn and we haven looked back since.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Q. Describe your job on a day-to-day basis?
A. Prior to each race, I gather all the historical data, patterns (traffic, overtaking, track changes) and team performance data. Brawn GP has a number of custom simulation packages which we run to ensure that we gain a good understanding of the running plan for the weekend and the estimated tyre performance, highlighting any potential problems and considerations. During Friday we will build a picture on our competitors performance, tyre usage, weaknesses and strengths. I work closely with the senior race engineers to ensure we get the most out of our car and modify the run plans if required during sessions. The Friday data then allows us to determine a qualifying plan including which tyre compounds and in what order and just as importantly, the final qualifying fuel figure. We always create several plans, depending on where our competitors are relative to us in each qualifying session. On Sunday morning Ross and I sit down and discuss all of the potential race scenarios and plan actions for various events such as safety car deployment and accidents. This planning is the key to solid race strategy as we may only have a matter of seconds to react to incidents on track. During the race, the decisions we make are what order to run the tyre compounds, what the next stop lap will be, what to do in case on safety cars on every lap, who we are fighting, and what we can do to defend or beat them. We are continuously updating the driver with his targets, both lap time and position to allow them to manage their tyres and the gaps to other cars around and ultimately their pace. Following the race I will analyse all of the decisions and data gathered from the event, understand what we did right, and what we could have done differently and improved on. This analysis is then used to build a further understanding with regards to our competitors for the following event.
Q. What do you like about working in Formula One?
A. Formula One is unique – it's my passion, my hobby, my life. Outside of the race weekend, the entire team is trying to work harder, faster and better than the nine other teams to ensure that by the next race, we do a better job than them. The business solely
focuses on a single event, which lasts around two hours roughly every other week, where the result of hard work and dedication can be seen the world over. The other aspect is the reactivity of Brawn GP and how quickly we can react to other competitors, rule changes, and problems. We are able to draw, manufacture and run components that were first discussed only a few weeks ago.
Q. What's the best thing about working for Brawn GP?
A. For me, it's all about the people you work with, the team work, the development. The race engineering group has been together for a long time and is very close which makes for a great working environment. I think it抯 fair to say the engineers spend nearly as much time together as we do with our respective partners! The other reason is Ross Brawn who has changed the way we work together as a team. It's a privilege to work alongside him during a race weekend.
Q. What’s the most challenging aspect of your job?
A. The first challenge is making a strategic decision during qualifying or the race, sometimes in just a few seconds, based on as little or as much data you have available at that time. The difference between making a good or bad decision can be as much as several positions by the end of the race and therefore having the most accurate data possible at all times is key to this. The second is managing driver expectation and performance over a race weekend. During the race the goal is to work with the engineers to give the driver targets to hit, manage his pace, and keep an eye on your competitors to understand both their performance and usage of tyres.
Q. What has been the best moment of the 2009 season so far?
A. There have been several. The first would be when we took the BGP 001 car to Silverstone watching Jenson drive a few laps to ensure all was well before we shipped the car to its first test. The relief from where the team was just a few months ago was indescribable. However my best moment in 2009 was, without question, Monaco. A one- two result from Jenson and Rubens is an incredible achievement. More specifically from a strategic perspective, we had the right strategy, putting the cars first and third on the grid. We managed a difficult tyre situation and reacted quickly to the dynamic race to bring the cars home first and second. At the end of the race I was standing just next to the podium, Ross Brawn just behind me with his elbows on my shoulders watching Jenson running down the straight after leaving his car in Parc Ferme. It's a memory that will stay with me forever.

Objectives of Ecommerce for Business (Components & Functions)
Tumblr media
For convenience, variety, and affordable prices, consumers are increasingly choosing to shop online these days. In 2023, 2.64 billion individuals—or roughly 33.3% of the world's population—shopped online, according to Hostinger. This offers a huge opportunity for businesses.
This blog post discusses the advantages and justifications for e-commerce for well-established businesses. In this section, we'll cover the primary objectives you can achieve with an online store, such as expanding your customer base and improving the online shopping experience.
Next, we'll go over each of the crucial elements you'll require, such as selecting the appropriate platform and integrating it with your current systems.
In our final section, we'll examine the features of e-commerce and how it will alter your business's operations, including order fulfillment and customer support.
Objectives of Ecommerce That Can Transform Your Business
Revenue and Growth
Besides increasing sales, ecommerce opens new markets. Consider shipping your product to customers outside your immediate area to expand your reach nationally or globally. Online sales could meet unmet customer needs due to geography.
Improved Margins
Ecommerce may reduce overhead costs, but not always. Rent on prime retail space, possibly large staff, and utilities can be reduced or eliminated. Be realistic: shipping, platform fees, and digital marketing will cost money, but a careful analysis may reveal greater profitability.
Customer Experience
Online tools allow for greater personalization than in-person tools. Customer satisfaction and loyalty can be improved by recommendation engines ("Customers who bought this also like..."), targeted promotions based on purchase history, and simplified feedback mechanisms. Online accessibility helps disabled and geographically-isolated shoppers.
Data & Analytics
Ecommerce generates many data points that brick-and-mortar stores struggle to capture. This data can improve business decisions, targeted marketing, and product development by revealing browsing behavior and abandoned carts.
Geographic Reach
Ecommerce reaches more. If shipping were available, would customers outside your physical store be interested in your products?
Niche Markets
The internet simplifies niche community discovery. A physical store can be difficult to maintain if your product is highly specific, but an online store removes that geographic constraint.
24/7 Availability
Your online storefront is open 24/7, unlike a physical store. This lets customers in different time zones shop at their convenience. It also helps those who shop late at night or early in the morning and those with busy schedules who can't visit a store during regular hours. Every hour is a sales opportunity, maximizing reach without increasing staffing or overhead.
Price Flexibility
Ecommerce lets companies respond quickly to market changes. Changing competitor prices, flash sales, or testing promotional pricing is easier online than in stores.
Reduced Marketing Overhead
Digital advertising costs more, but it offers precise targeting that billboards and print ads lack. This optimizes marketing budgets by targeting likely customers.
Direct Customer Relationships
Ecommerce eliminates middlemen. Directly connecting with buyers builds brand loyalty. This relationship provides first-party data unfiltered by a third-party retailer for marketing and product development.
Rapid Testing & Scaling
Online, testing a new product, price point, or promotion is easier. Scaling up successes is faster than ordering more inventory, hiring staff, etc. for physical locations.
Adapting to Demand
If the supply chain is strong, ecommerce can handle more volume than brick-and-mortar during viral product demand. Online overhead is less fixed, so it can weather sudden downturns better.
Lower Barrier to Entry
Ecommerce stores can be launched with less money than physical stores, depending on the products. This reduces risk for new businesses, allows market testing, or allows side projects with less financial strain.
Essential Components of Ecommerce to Grow Your Business
Platforms
Multiple Options (Shopify, WooCommerce, OpenCart)
Many platforms make ecommerce website creation easy for businesses. They serve different purposes and meet different needs. If transitioning with a small in-house team, Shopify's ease of use may appeal, while WooCommerce can help WordPress websites become ecommerce sites.
Integration Capabilities
The more complex a business, the more important a platform that works with legacy systems. Example: A company with specialized accounting software needs a platform that integrates or exports data in the right formats to save time.
Inventory Systems
Real-time syncing
Selling an item online that is out of stock in the physical store is one of the best ways to undermine customer trust. Software for inventory management and the selected platform need to interact with each other easily.
Scalability
If ecommerce grows, the inventory system must handle more orders. A seasonal retailer using spreadsheets for inventory may hit a wall during peak season due to online orders.
Flexibility for Businesses with Multiple Locations
To avoid customer dissatisfaction, the inventory system must accurately reflect stock availability across all stores.
Accounting & Taxes
Tax Complexities
Ecommerce can quickly establish nexus (a business's sales tax obligation) in new states or countries. Each jurisdiction has its own nexus rules, and sales tax rates vary greatly. How online sales affect tax compliance is crucial because ignoring these obligations can result in steep fines and back taxes.
Reporting for Insight
Ecommerce platforms generate sales reports, but accounting software may need additional modules or processes to extract the most useful data. Example: Tracking COGS accurately across online and offline sales channels aids profitability analysis and pricing strategies.
CRMs
Avoiding Data Silos
Customers who shop online and in-store should have a smooth experience. Both channels should reflect their purchase history, loyalty points, and customer service interactions. Data must be synced between CRM, POS, and ecommerce platforms.
Personalization Opportunities
If the CRM allows purchase behavior segmentation, this data can improve online and offline marketing. Example: Sending exclusive online discounts to customers who haven't bought in-store in a while can bring them back.
Functions of Ecommerce: How It Transforms Business Operations
Fulfillment
Outsourced Fulfillment
Working with Amazon FBA or 3PLs eliminates the need to manage inventory. This is scalable and cost-effective for small to mid-sized businesses. It may mean giving up some control over the customer experience and higher order costs.
In-House Fulfillment
Maintaining your own warehouse and staff maximizes process control. This may make sense for businesses with warehouse space, fragile or large shipping needs, or high ecommerce sales volumes. Initial investment and ongoing costs are drawbacks.
Hybrid Models
Blending in-house and outsourced fulfillment provides flexibility. A business may outsource some operations and bring others in-house as it grows. Or, ship popular items in-house for fast shipping and less-frequent ones via 3PL.
Shipping
Speed vs. Cost
Fast, free shipping is expected. Businesses must balance expectations with shipping costs. Explain how options like free shipping over a certain order threshold, flat-rate shipping, and speed-based options (overnight, 2-day, etc.) affect profitability.
Carrier Integration
Most ecommerce platforms integrate with UPS, FedEx, etc. Real-time shipping rates and label generation require this. Ensure the platform supports negotiated business rates.
International & Complex Zones
Stress the complexities of international shipping—customs, duties, restricted items, and destination-specific costs. Many ecommerce platforms offer plugins for this, but planning ahead avoids surprises and customer frustration.
Returns & Exchanges
Competitive Yet Sustainable Policies
Easy returns increase online sales. Thus, you must strike a balance between generous policies that attract customers and a process that doesn't cut margins or burden operations. Return shipping labels, restocking fees, and processing time should be considered.
Impact on Inventory
If the business has both online and physical locations, the returns policy must address whether online items can be returned in-store and how they affect real-time inventory visibility.
Using Returns Data
Not all returns are negative. It allows you to analyze data to identify product quality issues, apparel size inaccuracies, etc., to improve the business.
Customer Service
Chatbots & AI
Chatbots and AI-powered tools are revolutionizing 24/7 customer service that scales with your business. Chatbots can quickly and efficiently answer simple questions or perform basic troubleshooting, freeing up your staff for more complex issues. Many complex issues, frustrated customers, and high-value clients require the empathy and nuanced understanding of a human support agent.
Social Media
Customers now seek help on social media instead of traditional channels because they expect brands to respond. Fast response times require dedicated social account monitoring. Public complaints are visible to potential customers and affect your brand reputation, so have clear policies.
Unique Needs of Online Orders
Shipping losses, incorrect orders, and website glitches require different troubleshooting than in-store customer service. Staff must be trained on these scenarios and have clear escalation paths.

hdakfhjs.note, a love letter to humss12d batch 2023-2024 / closing remarks to the sugbuhi documentary festival as we finish out creative nonfiction.
there is a misconception that writing creative nonfiction is traumadumping. that its talking about our worst experiences, projecting it onto our readers, and making them carry our burden, and that it's a dead and moot genre of literature that isn't as interesting to read and write like poetry and fiction and plays. no one will write creative nonfiction, no one reads creative nonfiction, no one even reads creative nonfiction! what for do i have to tell you how i know my parents hate me in such a dramatic fashion?
the department of education curriculum guide described the subject creative nonfiction in this manner: Focusing on formal elements and writing techniques, including autobiography and blogging, among others, the subject introduces the students to the reading and writing of Creative Nonfiction as a literary form. The subject develops in students skills in reading, and thinking critically and creatively, that will help them to be imaginative readers and writers.
what the deped and your nonchalant mindsets miss about the genre, sir jason and i had to take on the gargantuan burden of meeting: how do we reconcile the demands of teaching a loaded subject to a student body going through senioritis, and how do we mold you to write what you know from the heart, ergo, to write oa?
we had to go back to the basics and build up. throughout the midterms we had to rehash what you knew from CW on figurative language for poetry and fiction, and the elements of a plot to tell your personal stories. as my first ever creative nonfiction mentor johanna michelle lim said to me at the cebu young writers' studio, "to write creative nonfiction is easier than poetry. there is no form. there is no rhyme. there are no rules, just write."
but while for most of you the act of writing in a literary manner is as natural as breathing, formulaic, almost, sir jason and i realized a challenge as your teachers and you as budding nonfictionists. we had to work against a heavier thing that barred you from truly writing your best nonfiction piece, something sir jason and i could not feed you, something you had to resolve yourself that you yourselves also acknowledged: it's your fear to get naked.
Unlike your Grade 11 subjects COMM01: Oral Communication in Context or ENG01: English for Academic and Professional Purposes, where every sentence required a source in order to persuade your audience that this is a real phenomenon, we had to work reestablish you to get in touch with your emotions. in creative writing, you could worldbuild, rhyme to your heart's content and hide your hurt in between the lines.
but creative nonfiction is looser, more open, you are allowed. oa is valid. reflection is valid, and over the sem we worked to understand that.
as I said in a module i wrote for this subject, and i quote: this kind of writing requires a high level of maturity and reflectiveness as it requires you to think deeply about what you have experienced, the culture of the community you live in, and make observations about it. It is no longer about providing sources for every single sentence you write. Through the seamless weaving our opinions shine through in a frank description of what our reality looks like. As HUMSS students, we already have the background to write for this subgenre of nonfiction, as we are closest to the 'katilingban'.
some of you might not have been ready to be mature or naked, but had to catch up in the challenge of taking this class. as you pass the midterm, you are then exposed to how your writing, while talking about you, is no longer JUST about you. now validated in what you have observed about the katilingban, you were then enjoined to participate in the rudimentary simulation of the creative writing workshop, through the blind critique. you were each other's panel through the annotation activities we did weekly, and you wrote critical responses on the essays your peers produced and got critiqued back to reconsider your choices in your work. the nakedness in creative nonfiction is not just in the fighting back against what tim kreider calls the "mortifying ordeal of being known". we had to allow ourselves to be poked at in order to become beautiful, and to write beautiful.
we then began work on the ethics of creative nonfiction and how that affects the writing of literary journalism, where everything from its elements to the language use came together to depict a person you have so admired in both the making of these documentaries and to write for this prestigious genre.
a writer is stereotyped as a disheveled shut-in, alone, in a dark room, dark rimmed eyes and stacks of empty cups of coffee on a coffee-stained table, writing nonstop with the curtains drawn so shut he can no longer tell if it is day or night. in a letter that i wrote to palanca awardee omar khalid, i said, while writing is a one-man act, it should be done with the presence of like-minded friends and seniors to spur you on to continue and do better [...] the people [...] showed me what a ‘writer’s rehabilitation’ could look like. like my former professor dr cindy velasquez said in one of the shortlisted documentaries and aligned with the carolinian core values, writing is a social responsibility, for the preservation of culture. you are with the katilingban. this, right now, is your writing rehabilitation: you write for the katilingban. so you must join the katilingban to write about the katilingban.
humss d has qr codes outside linking to their cnf ebooks, where they have compiled their best essays and the biographical profiles of their documentary subject. these are free, and the fruit of our sweet labor over this semester drafting, critiquing, and revising, contributing to the quietly loud field of creative nonfiction, naked and beautiful.
and with this culminating performance task, we finally conclude the litessay: creative nonfiction. congratulations not just to the winners, but to you, each and everyone. you have truly grasped not just the technicalities of creative nonfiction, but what it truly means to be beautifully naked.
people who are not interested in cebuano literature say cebuano lit is dead. how loud the outsiders are, how downplayed we may be, with you finishing CW, CNF, and hopefully graduating from humss, sylvia plath was right: "little or nothing. so many of us, so many of us! we shall by morning inherit the earth. our foot's in the door." writers, congratulations, and welcome to the cebuano literary scene.

A WEEK OF SEM-BREAK AS A REGSAY
As a student that is dedicated to his studies also needs a break, especially after exams. According to the DepEd Order No 32 series of 2023, a mid-year beak for the current schoolyear 2023-2024 is scheduled on January 23-26 and on January 29-30. The given break was a blast, I got to do whatever I want like playing online games, gala with friends and spending a lot of time with my family. I also did some advanced reviews on the subjects and practiced on the recently concluded event namely “SCHOOL BASED PRESS CONFERENCE” where almost Regsay joined and competed, starting from Grade 7 to Grade 12 (the final year ate’s and kuya’s). By the way, I participated in column writing for the individual activity and collaborative desktop publishing for the group contest on the second day of the event which Saturday.
On the second day, I slept a lot (as in a lot) and I just played video games. But then something came in y mind (like what if’s) that if I want to improve my grades, my memorization skills, and especially improve my stock knowledge and also knowledge about the subjects especially the hard ones for me for the upcoming 3rd quarter, I need to study. So I kicked my butt of and started finding my sisters notes and Power Point then reviewed for hour, I also created some articles and searched lectures and the latest topics that the proctors might give us on the day of the contest that may help me enhance my Column Writing skills. I have found out that one of the latest topics that we might encounter are the presidential rivalry od president Marcos\Duterte and about the lotto schemes.
While I was reviewing, I realized that it was already Saturday, time is so fast right? So, I quickly prepared my things to bring on our boarding place which is near to our school.
On a special Sunday, my mom told us to get ready and called my family to go attend the mass at Saint Paul the Apostle Parish at 9:00 am near to Cabagan Square Park and then after the mass we headed to Xentro Mall, Cabagan for the advance celebration of my sister’s birthday which is de on Monday where we have classes. To be exact, her birthday really is on February 5 and adding to that it is her Chapter 15! We celebrated at Mang Inasal where we ate a lot the we also y some extra grocery for our boarding house and for our home too.
Then I came back to what I left which is practicing and reviewing like crazy. I slept over midnight because it is so near and I’m hoping that I’m one of the qualifiers.
On the last day of our Mid-Year Break I am very excited and nervous at the same time. I cannot wait to attend our School Based Press Conference. Also, my mom left first because they are also preparing for their class resumption and school-based press conference.
A week of Sem-Break is enough for me, because I’m a regsay who is an achiever and I am putting my studies first. I’m ready to sacrifice everything for the better future and for a high grade; and lastly, I always remember to value our future and remember that “Education is not a preaparation for life: education is life itself” by John Dewey. Also “the key to life is to develop internal moral, emotional G.P.S that can tell you which way to go” quoted by Oprah.

#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE: Starbucks Reserve in Baguio City turns into Personal Office, infuriating customers with a Suspected Travel Vlogger individual from the UK (updated as final!!!)
Tumblr media
(Written by Mitch Williams / Bailley Mass Communication news intern for OneNETnews)
BAGUIO CITY, BENGUET -- In an unpredictable twist at the Starbucks Reserve located on the 2nd floor of ShoeMart Baguio (SM) in Sunset Terraces, Luneta Hill, Upper Session Road, Baguio City, Benguet… The renowned coffee shop was surprisingly converted into an impromptu "Personal Office" for students and regular or repetitive customers, causing uproar among patrons, including a former Scottish poker player turned into a critical suspect travel vlogger named Dale Philip.

Netizens across the Philippines have expressed their frustration on various social media platforms over the extensive queues and the misuse of the said coffee shop space, particularly after a TikTok video (owned by ByteDance Limited) went viral on Sunday (November 5th, 2023), following the post-Undas or All Saints and Souls Day weekend. The actual extended video in a bite-sized form can be found uncut on YouTube, which was first filmed in late-August 2023. His self-footage highlighted the Starbucks location being fully occupied by a series of loitering "Digital Nomads", who were studying or working in Baguio City, leading to a chaotic environment and long waiting times for both regular or repetitive customers.

Mr. Dale Philip, known for his background as a Scottish poker player and current travel vlogger from Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom, found himself caught in the midst of the chaos, impatiently waiting to order his Matcha Frappuccino or Matcha Latte. The situation raised questions about the café culture, with customers feeling the space was being monopolized by individuals turning Starbucks Reserve into their personal workspace.

The Starbucks Reserve concept is designed to offer a premium and immersive coffee experience, featuring rare and exquisite coffee blends. Located within SM Baguio, this particular Starbucks branch has become a go-to spot for coffee enthusiasts. However, the recent surge of "Digital Nomads" using the space as a makeshift office has tarnished the intended experience for either regular or repetitive customers.
"So they've got a Starbucks right here. Look at all these guys (in Baguio) with their own laptops just sitting, using it as their personal office. I would hate that! Somebody just doing their homework right there", as former professional poker player and suspected travel vlogger said.
Tumblr media
He brazenly ranted that the Filipinos in Baguio City attacking netizens whether online or in person that he is losing concept for its disrepectful café culture: "Digital gonad is way worse that I can tell you. Just sit in your house, condo, or in your hotel room and do your work! Why do you need to be sitting in somebody's coffe shop to do your work with people disturbing to you? And look all these people coming in and out. I don’t understand this whole concept. I DON'T even like coffee, I only ever go to Starbucks for the Matcha Frappucino. But yeah, the whole concept of this coffee shop culture, I don't understand it at all…", Philip concluded in an extendedly viral TikTok commentary video via YouTube.
The issue has reached a national level, prompting concerns from government officials, including the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Education-Philippines (DepEd-PH). Calls for intervention to regulate the café culture of "Digital Nomads" at Starbucks Philippines have grown louder, emphasizing the need to maintain a balance between serving the needs of these remote workers and preserving the enjoyable atmosphere for all customers. We try to reach out to the DICT, DepEd-PH and the British Embassy of Manila via e-mail for comments on the matter to our news team of OneNETnews. However, as of this development of writing, there has been no response from any of these entities involved.
But PinoyTrend reports told in a disclosed ambush interview that the Starbucks Philippines' President (Noey Tantoco Lopez), it is legal to sit here at the Starbucks Reserve: “That was my first experience in Starbucks when I stayed for so long nursing one cup of coffee, and I was so amazed… So I don’t want to deny anybody that. That’s the Starbucks experience. Why would I deny that to anybody else? That was the magic I felt so to this day, we let people stay as long as they want. It’s part of our business”, Starbucks PH President Mr. Lopez said.
Mr. Lopez clarified that these customers in Baguio and the Province of Benguet had no time limits to stay at their coffee shops: “We strive to create a welcoming environment for all of our customers. We do not have any time limits for being in our stores, and we continue to focus on making the Third Place experience for every Starbucks customer”, he stated.

The potential impact on Dale Philip's status in the Philippines has also been a topic of discussion on social media. With the ire of ruefulness comments and possible mass cyber libel threats looming in hate speech and targeted public harassment online, there is speculation about whether he might face deportation back to the United Kingdom, as according to the Bureau of Immigration (BI).
As the online controversy intensifies, it remains to be seen how Starbucks Philippines and relevant government agencies will immediately address the concerns raised by customers in Baguio City and the whole province of Benguet, whether this incident will lead to a reassessment of café culture norms here in this country.

Philippines Honors 650 Years of Heritage
Tumblr media
History and Heritage of the Muslim Community
The Office of the President has taken a significant step in recognizing and celebrating the rich history and heritage of the Muslim community in the Philippines. In an administrative order issued on November 7, the creation of the "Situmiayat Wakhamsum Aldhikraa National Committee" (SWANC) was announced. This committee will play a pivotal role in planning and implementing a series of programs, activities, and projects to commemorate the 650th anniversary of Philippine Muslim History and Heritage.   A Commemorative Journey Begins The Administrative Order No. 10, spanning five pages, underscores the importance of commemorating the 650th anniversary. Signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, the order emphasizes that SWANC's mission is to organize, coordinate, and synchronize various programs, projects, and activities for the upcoming commemoration. It's a journey that will extend from next year through 2030, showcasing the enduring legacy of Muslim Filipinos in shaping the nation's history and heritage.   More Than History Beyond a mere reflection of the past, the commemoration anniversary will have a multi-faceted impact. It will not only promote local and national tourism but also reignite a sense of nationalism in every Filipino. The emphasis is on instilling values for the common good, strengthening the social cohesiveness of the community, and intensifying social awareness.
Leadership and Coordination
The leadership of SWANC is in capable hands. Specifically, the chairman of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) serves as the committee's chairperson. In addition to the chairperson, the secretary of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos and the chairperson of the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage will serve as co-vice chairpersons.   Collaborative Efforts The administrative order also includes a roster of esteemed member agencies. These agencies, including the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), will play pivotal roles in the successful execution of the commemoration.   Authorized Representation The chairperson, co-vice chairpersons, and members of SWANC are empowered to designate their respective alternates, with the rank of Assistant Secretary or higher, who will have full authority to act on their behalf.   Administrative Support The NHCP will serve as the Secretariat of the SWANC, offering technical, administrative, and operational support to the Committee. When needed, the Secretariat may augment its staff with personnel from member agencies, pending authorization from their respective agency heads.   A Comprehensive Plan SWANC's primary responsibility is to craft a comprehensive plan for the commemoration of the 650th Anniversary of Philippine Muslim History and Heritage. We will submit this plan to the President for approval within six months of the order's effectiveness, laying the foundation for a journey that pledges to celebrate, educate, and unite a diverse nation around its shared heritage.   Sources: THX News & Presidential Communications Office.
