What do you think that the advertisements in Mario kart indicate for the Mario universe?
I've already talked a little bit about this in my previous post on the lore of the Mario Kart games, but I'd be happy to discuss this specific topic a little more in-depth by going over some highlights of the brands, businesses and sponsors seen throughout the Mario Kart games!
It's likely that given Super Mario Kart was the first tournament, Mario and his friends hadn't amassed enough of a viewership to have sponsors backing the Grand Prix. Mario Kart got its first sponsors in Mario Kart 64 in the form of trackside banners on certain courses.
Most of these sponsors are quite non-specific in what they represent and are associated with a specific character or item, such as Mario Star (Marioro in the Japanese version), Luigi's (Luigip in the Japanese version) or Koopa Air. Mario Star may have originally been a tobacco company, but it appears this has been retconned. Luigi's may have been an oil company, but as of Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart Tour the sponsor merely represents N64 Luigi Raceway. Koopa Air is likely an airline owned or endorsed by Bowser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nintendo is also a sponsor, which is interesting given they also sponsored Mario and Formula 1 in Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race, as well as the Mario Bros. in Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally before this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems they were advertising the Famicom through sponsoring Mario. Perhaps it was even a "Famicom Racing Team" of sorts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mario can also wear his Mechanic Outfit from Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally in Super Mario Odyssey, where we can see the patches on it feature several brands from the Mario Kart series. This outfit also ends up being depicted in the logo of Mario Motors from Mario Kart 8 onwards. This first appeared in Mario Kart Arcade GP, and it's certainly one of my favourites.
Tumblr media
Mario Motors appears to be a chain of garages that likely builds or repairs vehicles, as we can see two locations in Mario Kart 8's renditions of Wii U Mario Circuit and GCN Yoshi Circuit. In the GCN Yoshi Circuit location several Standard 8 karts and a Yoshi Bike can be seen in the shop. They appear to use Mushroom Piston engines and Fuzzy Battery batteries, also having a pair of fuel pumps outside. Fuzzy Batteries also produce primary (disposable) batteries, as we see in Yoshi's Crafted World.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, Mario can't have all the fun. Wario had to go and make his own company, Wario Motors, which presumably acts as a rival. Wario Motors seemingly built the trucks with Dash Panel ramps on the back that can be seen in courses like Mario Kart 8's rendition of N64 Toad's Turnpike.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Wario, in Mushroom City from Mario Kart: Double Dash!! we can see a store called Wario Pharmacy. Perhaps this is a chain Wario opened after stealing the Megavitamins from Mario in Dr. Mario 64.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mario Work Gear is another brand from Mario Kart 8 that presumably sells dungarees, gloves, etc. like the ones Mario and Luigi wear. Perhaps this company is even the supplier of the clothing we see Mario and Luigi buy from the various shops throughout the Mario & Luigi series.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are so many things to say about all of the sponsors in the Mario Kart games, and I've barely scratched the surface here! I'm sure I'll feature them in many more posts in the future. Thank you for your question!

Sorry to hear you're going through a tough time, idk how much it'll help but here's a slightly rushed meme I made because I think these two are just funny together
Tumblr media
I was also wondering if you had any ship headcanons for these two? Cropslinger is back on my mind again😔 no pressure ofc
A wonderful meme lol. Nothing gets me better than the reminder that when Dusty caught up to Ripslinger in the last leg of the race, the first words out of his mouth are NOT a glorious and well thought-up comeback, no. What does he say?
Tumblr media
Proof Dusty is in fact the most humble (if not the most dense) thing ever.
Anyways onto Cropslinger content!
(Side-note: I'm going to be completely honest and say that first of all Bobbly's depiction of these two's interactions post enemies to friends is KING. I may be completely biased in that regard just because the If You Tame Me series is literally what got me into writing Planes fanfiction in the first place, but regardless, the chemistry of the two in that series and all of its surrounding material is golden, and I think that's exactly the sort of banter those two would get up to. Two dudes sharing their last fleeting braincells together - or, more like Dusty buzzing around all of Rip's and trying to steal them)
That said, here's some personal headcanons for the two of them, both in romantic/ship ways and platonic/besties ways, because I think both interpretations are interesting.
Said in a post somewhere, Dusty - because he hails from the ONLY state in the US that DOESN'T call it "duck duck goose" - constantly makes his stupid little "duck duck grey duck" taunt towards and in front of Ripslinger, just because it pisses him off. Pissing Ripslinger off, once you know he won't actually murder you, is a fun game.
They have found one of only two things to semi-consistently bond over outside of air racing, which is video games. Dusty is more of a casual player and likes the cozy sandbox games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, but he does join Rip on occasion with some of his (usually more shooter based) games. They also kick ass together at level and puzzle games, although God help us ALL if they try to play Mario Kart again. Wii remotes went through drywall, that's all I'll say.
the second thing is Reyzor C. Dusty's been an avid fanboy and collector of his music practically since his debut, and eventually discovered Ripslinger was a hardcore superfan as well.
They frequently find themselves circling back to the topic slash argument of which is better: tits (favor of Dusty) or ass (favor of Ripslinger) [side note Dusty's pan, Rip's bi. Just, for the record on this in case anybody saw this and went "h u h"]
I'm gonna leave it at these for now cuz it's stormin' bad where I'm at and my power's flakey. ^^'

On the 29th of October, nine years ago, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag was released for the Xbox 369 and PlayStation 3 as well as the Wii U but only in North America.
Its historical timeframe precedes that of Assassin's Creed III, but its modern-day sequences succeed III's own.
Tumblr media
The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the millennia-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight to preserve peace and free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control. The framing story is set in the 21st century and depicts the player as an employee of Abstergo Industries (a company used as a front by the modern-day Templars), who is manipulated into uncovering secrets related to the Assassin-Templar conflict and the precursor race known as the First Civilization. The main story is set in the West Indies during the Golden Age of Piracy from 1715 to 1722, and follows notorious Welsh pirate Edward Kenway, grandfather and father of Assassin's Creed III protagonist Ratonhnhaké:ton / Connor and antagonist Haytham Kenway, respectively, as he searches for fortune and a mythical location called the Observatory, which is sought by both the Assassins and the Templars. A major plot element concerns the attempted establishment of an independent Pirate republic in the Caribbean.
Unlike previous games, gameplay elements focus more on the ship-based exploration of the seamless open world map, while also retaining the series' third-person land-based exploration, melee combat, and stealth system. Multiplayer also returns, albeit with only land-based modes and settings. The game's setting spans the West Indies with the three main cities of Havana, Nassau, and Kingston, along with numerous islands, sunken ships, and forts. Players have the option to harpoon large sea animals and hunt land animals. For the first time in the series, naval exploration is a major part of an Assassin's Creed game, where Edward captains the Jackdaw, a brig he captures from a Spanish fleet in an early game mission.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag received critical acclaim and was one of the best-selling games of 2013, with over 15 million copies sold as of 2020. Critics praised the open world gameplay, improved naval combat, side-quests, graphics, narrative, characters, and pirate theme. However, the modern-day story and combat received a slightly more mixed response, while criticism fell on aspects of the historical story missions which were considered repetitive. The game received several awards and nominations, including winning the Spike VGX 2013 award for Best Action Adventure Game.

Videogame Console Market Everything You Need To Know Forecast, 2023-2032 Market
A video game console is a device that displays a video game by outputting a visual image or video signal. It is essentially a console machine designed primarily for consumers to play video games, as opposed to home computers or arcade machines. Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 4, Steam Machine, Leap TV, and Retro N5 are a few examples of video game consoles. Over the past few years, the gaming console market has gone through several hardware changes. It is also expected that HDTVs with HDMI ports and inherent wireless connectivity, which can support external hard disks, will offer enriched customer experience. Console manufacturers are introducing new devices that are compatible with the latest specifications according to the gamers' demand while improving the gameplay experience.
Therefore, owing to the great source of entertainment that the video games provide, the forecasters predict that the global video game console market is anticipated to grow exponentially during the forecast period.

COVID-19 Scenario Analysis:
This industry faces huge decline due to disruption in trade with China.
Shutdown of all non-essential goods during COVID-19 also slows down this market.
Consumer demand is shifting toward the essential food and safety items.
However, online sales platform is witnessing an increase in the demand for video games console because people sitting back at their homes are seeking for sources for their entertainment.

Top Impacting Factors: Market Scenario Analysis, Trends, Drivers, and Impact Analysis:
Innovation and new technologies have significantly surged the demand for video game consoles in several audio-visual types of equipment. The increase in availability of high-end sound systems and displays give customers a rich and enhanced experience. New consoles with wireless connectivity and a growing number of gamers drive the growth of the gaming console market. Along with this, an increase in the availability and popularity of a multi-functional gaming console is the latest trend emerging on the market for gaming consoles. Several advantages offered by the multi-functional consoles, such as allowing gamers to download videos, browse the internet, listen to music and watch videos simultaneously while playing games, are expected to have a positive impact on market growth over the coming years.
However, high-cost purchase and disk-cost associated with such consoles impede the market growth. Along with this, the introduction of new smartphones and tablets with the latest gaming application is expected to significantly hamper the growth of the industry. Also, shift in consumer trends to alternative platforms, including online games and mobile games, may create obstacles in the market growth over the next few years. Increase in piracy rates and unauthorized users gaining free access are few other factors hamper the revenue of the video game consoling market. Online and mobile games are available at a significantly low cost compared to expensive console disks, resulting in a decrease in the demand for a gaming console. Furthermore, the main challenge for manufacturers competing in this market is expected to be maintaining a balance between quality and price, along with incorporating the latest features into the game console.
Asia-Pacific and North America are holding majority of market share in terms of revenue in the global video game console market because of the increase in number of gamers in these areas. To cater to the requirement of customers, companies are focusing on developing advanced gaming console.

Another NSMB2-based Mario Story/Paper Mario scene set!
Once again, I've made more graphic assets and screenshots based on one of New Super Mario Bros 2's worlds. This time, it's the Beach half of World 3!
As an aside, due to how long rendering in Cycles takes, only the first image is done that way, while the rest are Eevee renders.
Enough of that, though- let's swim right in! ...Or maybe not, given what you're about to see.
Tumblr media
A small beach island area, the gang must navigate the islands and sands to reach the Gold Star at the end!
Tumblr media
Two Yoshis on a honeymoon were apparently interrupted by the boss' arrival, a tale which Captain Ahant recounts to Mario, Sushie and Captain Azure! But it's nothing that hammering, swimming and tossing can't handle!
Tumblr media
The first island area. With careful throws, Azure must toss Mario onto the lowest cliffs to navigate. All the while, Piranha Plants are moving around to and fro. There's a bridge to the next area...but what's that over there?
Tumblr media
Ah- a far-off island with a bunch of Item Blocks and baddies. Even better- a Green Star on the far-off west side! Perhaps this water-bordered land can be reached with Sushie!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next up, the actual beach. A whole bunch of Trouters, Urchins and Spike Basses call these sands and waters home. Mario and his pals will have to endure quite a frantic, thorny barrage to make it!
Tumblr media
With Sushie's help, Mario and Azure must ride her across Spike Bass-inhabited waters. Hope Sushie can handle the weight, or she'll be sushi! Also, M Bushes litter the beach!
Tumblr media
The last stretch before the boss. Among many Hurt Plants is a switch activating a plank bridge back to the start! Then, the gang should use the Save Block to save their progress in history, gather the items, and continue on their way to the Gold Star-
Tumblr media
-Aw, naw. Not CHEEPSKIPPER again! What does a fat fish want with a Gold Star, anyways? Whatever- Mario, Sushie and even Azure are ready to throw down!
---
I should probably explain why NSMB2 keeps getting picked, despite it's infamy among the fandom and redundancy. My original plan was to try and have a mix of locales from DS, Wii and 2. However, upon review of the three games and deciding which game would depict which archetype, I noticed 2 generally has the more colorful and unique designs of the trio, while DS...yeah. I actually thought DS would get more slots, but the areas seem kind of bland even for the NSMB series.
That's not to say no NSMBWii locations will be depicted. It's just NSMB2 keeps getting lucky with its incarnations of various world types early on.
Also, while NSMBU is the best of the NSMB series, due to U being implied to be a specific wild area of the Mushroom Kingdom rather than just general locations, its levels weren't and couldn't be considered, in the interest of fairness. I may do them one day, though- just not in the near future.

Anybody remember,Skylanders? For those of you who aren't savvy, Skylanders was a relatively successful video game franchise based on Toys-To-Life technology. You'd have the game, a USB "Portal of Power" that you'd plug into your console of choice, and, of course, the titular Skylanders figurines, which communicated with the Portal using NFC technology that allowed you to play as the character depicted on the toy in the game.
Skylanders was a relatively brief but immense success. There were SIX games, each introducing some gimmick with a new generation of characters. The first game, Spyro's Adventure (yeah, this was originally supposed to be a continuation of the Spyro series, but that's another story for another time), introduced the basics: put the figures on the Portal, beat up bad guys, save the world, yada yada yada. The second game, Giants, had larger figures that were super strong in-game, able to clear obstacles normal figures couldn't. The third, Swap Force, had figures with interchangeable top and bottom halves. The fourth, Trap Team, let you play as Bosses using traps, and had special figures that dealt more damage to boss enemies. The fifth, and last one I played, was Super Chargers, which introduced vehicles. The sixth, and thus far final game in the series, Imaginators, allowed players to create their own Skylander characters using Creation Crystal figures.
The Skylanders franchise, however, was somewhat short lived, as Toys-to-Life technology, or at least games that were completely dependent upon it, proved to be little more than a passing fad. The major problem with Skylanders was, and I can tell you this as someone who bought probably over a hundred of those damn figures at one point and admittedly kinda enjoyed doing so, was that Skylanders was basically pay-to-win, microtransaction filled cash grab, not all that much different than something you could find on Google Play or the iOS appstore.
Let me use another popular line of NFC figures that's still around today to illustrate my point: Nintendo's Amiibo figurines. The thing about Amiibo, and probably a key reason that they're still around, is that, to a surprising degree, they're usable with multiple games. Not all Amiibo were bound to a specific game, several could be used for multiple games. Also, some games allowed Amiibo from outside their series. More importantly, most games that let you used Amiibo, even to the point of touting it as a flagship feature of the game, were not actually DEPENDENT upon the figures. With only two exceptions to my knowledge, Amiibo were entirely optional in their games. Smash Bros. For 3DS and Wii U had an entire mode of using Amiibo figures, but it was completely optional. You didn't a Mario Amiibo to play as Mario, you just needed to pick Mario from the fighter menu. Having a Mario Amiibo just allowed you to access a special mode that was kinda cool.
Skylanders, on the other hand, were bound to their series games and those games alone. If you wanted to play the games, you needed the figures. You needed a LOT of the figures. If you wanted to play Giants, you needed the Giant figures, not just the regular figures from the first game. If you wanted to play Swap Force, you needed to buy those two halved figures, you couldn't (and shouldn't) just cut your existing figures in half and make them swappable. And sometimes, new games had to have new Portals. The Spyro's Adventure Portal isn't usable with Swap Force because it lacks the NFC tech to read the swappable figures, and the Swap Force Portal isn't usable with Trap Team because it's missing a hole for the boss traps. You had to buy the regular figures, the specialized figures, the Traps, the vehicles, the Creation Crystals. And then, as if having to buy all those computer chip infused hunts of plastic in real life wasn't enough, Skylanders Superchargers and Imaginators had actual microtransactions available for boosters, character parts, in game currency, etc.
It got to be too much. Activision made Skylanders so consumer unfriendly it ultimately killed the franchise. So, before I bothered completing my collection for Superchargers (I was missing just ONE guy), I sold all my figures and games and never bothered with Skylanders again for a long time.
So, you might be wondering why I bring all this up. Well, apparently, there's a rumor that Activision is considering remastering the first three games of the Skylanders series.
BUUUT
They're doing so WITHOUT the need for figures, instead allowing you to pick your Skylander characters from within the game itself.
Now, bear in mind, again, this is all just a rumor. If they do it, it could go one of two ways:
1. Activision could just make it kinda like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, where you have all the "figures" and don't have to buy them.
2. It's another microtransaction packed shitshow, just minus the excessive amounts of space consuming plastic.
If it is the former, I will definitely pick it up for some Nostalgia in Skylands. If it's the latter, I'll avoid it and would heartily advise you do the same.
TL;DR: Skylanders was cool, I used to collect them, they got greedy, I stopped collecting them, and now I heard about a possible remaster without figures that I might actually buy.

#My kingdom for the princess 2 level 4.5 walk through series
Zelda has also been depicted in casual attire, such as in Skyward Sword, or in a blue shirt with Hylian embroideries as the Champions commander in Breath of the Wild.Īssociated with the Goddess Nayru and the Triforce of Wisdom, Zelda possesses keen insight and good judgment-although this does not always avail her in eschewing capture. She often wears jewelry such as ornate earrings (which in some games feature a Triforce design), as well as a royal gown of white, pink, lavender, or another pale color (red in The Adventure of Link), usually bearing the Royal Family's crest. She also has light brown hair in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (though she is depicted as being blonde in artwork), and auburn hair in The Adventure of Link. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, in which her appearance is based on that of Twilight Princess), she is depicted as a brunette. In Twilight Princess, however (and therefore in Super Smash Bros. Zelda is portrayed as a young girl or beautiful young woman, usually with blonde hair. Additionally, at least two incarnations are known to have tomboyish qualities, such as Tetra and the Zelda from Ocarina of Time. The Zelda of Skyloft was indeed born a commoner and Tetra is the child of a pirate. However, this is likely due to the fact that neither was raised to be royalty from birth unlike most incarnations of Princess Zelda. She is however, extremely loyal towards the ones she cares for (such as Link) and does not tolerate them getting harmed.Ĭertain incarnations, like the Zelda of Skyloft and Tetra, are shown to have a slightly playful personality and more casual attitude. She is also forgiving towards former enemies even when they have harmed her in someway. Though not always capable of defending herself or others on her own, she does not quit and tries to aid allies when she needs their help. She always wishes to do what is right for others and is extremely self-sacrificing. However, each Zelda is depicted as a kind and benevolent person.Īs the holder of the Triforce of Wisdom, she is wise beyond her years and intelligent enough to rule her people. Since most of the Zeldas that appear in the games are different incarnations, they each have slightly differing personalities. Generally close in age to her respective Link, Zelda is most often portrayed as a child, but has been portrayed as a teenager or young adult on five occasions: in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Just as there are multiple Links, there are multiple Zeldas throughout the series.

The port includes updated high-definition visuals, integration with Miiverse, and full compatibility with the Wii U GamePad, including Off TV Play. On January 23, 2013, Nintendo officially announced a re-release of The Wind Waker for the Wii U as part of a Nintendo Direct presentation. Despite this, the game has met commercial and critical success and is the fourth of only eighteen games that have received a perfect score from Famitsu magazine. Critics enjoyed the similarity to Ocarina of Time, but often complained about the tedium that the large amount of time spent on sailing became. A heavy emphasis is placed on using and controlling wind with a baton called the Wind Waker, which aids sailing and floating through air. The Wind Waker follows in the footsteps of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, retaining the basic gameplay and control system from the Nintendo 64 title. Link spends a significant portion of the game sailing, traveling between islands, and traversing through dungeons and temples to gain the power necessary to defeat Ganondorf, and to rescue his kidnapped younger sister named Aryll. He struggles against the returning Ganondorf for control of a sacred relic known as the Triforce. The player controls Link, the protagonist of the Zelda series. The game is set on a group of islands in a vast sea called the Great Sea - a first for the series. The game would spawn two sequels: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the Nintendo DS, being a direct sequel to The Wind Waker, and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, set a century after the events of The Wind Waker. It is a sequel set hundreds of years after The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the "Adult Link" Timeline. It was released for the Nintendo GameCube in Japan on December 13, 2002, in Canada and the United States on March 24, 2003, in Europe on and in Australia on May 7, 2003. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker ( ゼルダの伝説 風のタクト, Zeruda no Densetsu Kaze no Takuto ?, " The Legend of Zelda: Baton of Wind") is the tenth installment in the Legend of Zelda series, notable for its use of cel-shaded animation and sailing. In the Super Mario Mash-up version of Minecraft (available for the Nintendo 3DS, Wii U and Nintendo Switch), most entities are visually changed into characters and items from the Mario series. Nearly all of them are, while stylized, depictions of preexisting characters and not original concepts, except for the Evoker.
Compared to the Witch (left), which looks like Kamek or a regular Magikoopa, the Evoker (right) appears as a Magikoopa wearing sunglasses. There has never been a Magikoopa wearing sunglasses in a Mario game before this one, making this design the only Minecraft-related original character in the Mario series.
