During our short stay, over dinner and conversation we met Gede Juli. The caretaker at Villa Griya Semalung. Ibu Michiyo mentioned that he is wonderfully talented. However, despite his talent as an artist it seems that Gede Juli is often troubled and his path has often been full of difficulties. Throughout our conversation our team was soon touched by this beautiful, troubled and sobering creative talent.

Writer, filmmaker and artist Joo Peter. A photoshoot in Sawidji Studio. Joo Peter's bright and happy energy is wonderful in the studio. His love of different cultures and travel has taken him across Asia as writer, photographer and film maker for many years. His recent film 'Mentawai-Souls of the Forest' a feature documentary,  has recently won the Special Award of the Jury at the International Film Festival Bali, Balinale.  Joo Peter​ film documentaries have explored and shared insights from many different communities and cultures.  Their contribution to raising awareness and appreciation of the wonders within our dynamic global communities is an asset for all of us.
