the Nublar Six in the covid lockdown/s - headcanons
specifically masking/covid safety headcanons here
Darius:
tries to rawdog it by himself in his woods cabin but the self isolation makes him borderline insane so he moves back in from the woods cabin with his mother, Kenji and Brand within a week
his mother is a health worker, so she’s keeping very safe for her boys (Darius misses spending time with her but admires the s# out of her for working so hard)
does those neighbourhood claps for the health workers (this might just have been a uk thing but every night at 8pm people would stand outside their houses and applaud the healthcare workers, it was actually rlly sweet <3)
spends too much time gaming that mama Bowman actually has to put those parental restrictions on all his devices so he does not spend the whole day gaming. he’s gamed for 19 hours straight once and had such a bad headache the next day
Brooklynn:
makes vlogs. constantly. she needs something to keep her occupied
gradually spirals into spending too much time on conspiracy theory websites/videos
epitome of that meme (people at the start of lockdown baking banana bread vs people 12 weeks into lockdown ready to abolish the police)
also goes to a lot of protests (is covid safe obviously)
comes to a point where she is on her laptop so much her dads have to take it away from her
just as well because she is coming down with a migraine and will probably not even be able to look at a screen tomorrow
post migraine episode, loves spending more time with her dads and the three of them have movie/game nights together
they also make her get back into home learning because she pretty much stopped it the more she got into her conspiracy videos
Sammy:
loves it. spends so much time outside so she doesn’t get cooped up
organises weekly video calls with the nublar six
invites Yaz and her mother to live with her (Yaz’s mother can work remotely) and it’s awesome
tries to do the workout videos with Yaz but some of them are pretty impossible (i hc her core is really weak post scorpius rex because the quills probably tore muscles and she just never regained her fitness)
gets super into doing just dance and makes Yaz and her mom join in and it’s a blast (i did this in lockdown lol)
Yaz:
tries to use this as an opportunity to workout more. goes on morning runs with her mother every day. does half an hour of exercise. we all know she did joe wicks videos in lockdown lbfr
actually has fantastic fitness by the end of lockdown and sorta misses it when it ends
the only one of the n6 who pay attention to the home learning set by their school
helps Sammy out on the ranch, and loves it
Kenji:
hates it. will only mask/distance with someone forcing him to at first
but then he actually gets covid and it’s such a horrible experience for him that he’s a lot more careful
gets pretty touch starved without the others (like he’ll ever admit it bfr) and has to text Darius, Brand and mama Bowman to ask for a hug
he’ll never admit this either but the whole global pandemic thing makes him anxious and talks it through with mama Bowman
also gets into gaming and plays mario kart with Darius and Brand. he has never won but that won’t stop him trying
watches all of dance moms and all of hannah montana
Ben:
will err on the side of caution in regards to covid safety
gets groceries delivered, shops online, stays mostly indoors.
only time he goes out is to spend time in the woods where he’s alone
spends a month on isla Nublar when the isolation really gets to him and he does a bit better from then on
spends so much time with his mom. he loves it but they also argue a fair bit

Thanks for the tags @dizzymisslizzie @run-for-chamo-miles @onthewaytosomewhere & @porcelainmortal!
This year has been a busy year (not just fic wise tbh), I wrote 86,387 words across 7 fandoms thanks to Ficlet Fridays. That became a proper thing, thank you for sticking around for my silly prompts (it will be returning in the new year but the regularity of it might change cause my work year is hectic). I'm going to summarise my full fics but click here you wanna check out my ficlets. Round up under the cut ✨
January
a frightening magic I cling to | 1.7k | M
After an indulgent Christmas, Henry battles with body image issues. Alex tries to pull him from his demons the best he can.
This fic was cathartic as hell and there's a much longer sequel in the works that I'm taking my time on.
By now, I thought I'd be over it | 1k | T
Watch party at the Brownstone, Henry's got a lot of feelings and as usual, Alex filters his coffee more than his mouth. What could go wrong?
A request that I actually think I could handle better now as a writer.
Alex Vs Goodreads Trolls | 3.5k | T
Henry is in the UK for the launch of his book, leaving Alex to his own devices. He's got an internet connection & a bottle of scotch, what's the worst that could happen?
Written purely for my own enjoyment, I think this is as close to canon Alex behaviour as I've got tbh.
March
Her Royal Highness | 5k (WIP) | T
How Prince Henry ended up as a guest judge on RuPaul's Drag Race UK.
Can't believe it was so long ago I updated this! It is high priority for the new year.
Mary & George & Henry | 4.1k | M
When Mary & George is announced, a certain prince is incredibly happy about it. Henry (and Alex)'s reactions to the series.
Minimal plot, silly times. I might do another react fic cause this was fun, if anyone has ideas I'm all ears!
April
i try hard to get back inside your arms alive | 1.2k | T
Alex learns about bi-erasure.
This fic's comments are a big bi group hug and I'm so glad everyone felt comfortable sharing. 🩷💜💙
it's still reserved for me | 0.5k | T
Alex wakes up feeling poorly & the only cure is hugs from Henry, of course.
A prompted drabble, classic sick fic.
May
Ain't it fun to hold the world in your hands? | 11.5k | M
Alex allows himself to finally play with gender
The beginning of my Bigender Alex AU, my beloved. This was definitely my way of processing and the response helped me so much.
You’re going to be the death of me, babygirl. | 1.3k | M
Alex has an emotional response to an online trend and Henry uses the bedroom for a moment of healing.
Part 2 of Bigender Alex AU. Inspired by Nick Galitzine chronically being called babygirl online if I'm honest!
July
I could speak (or just let my body explain) | 6.4k | M [Co-written with @run-for-chamo-miles]
Five times Alex expresses her gender publicly (+1 time he expresses himself privately).
The third installment of Bigender Alex AU & my first collaboration! Writing this with Elle was the pure escapism I needed at the time, I loved writing with them & I'm so excited to do it again hopefully in 2025.
November
lost in the revelry (lost in the make believes) | 5.1k | T
When Alex is sick with the flu and June can't make it to NYC due to a storm, she calls in Henry to help. Alex is less than pleased...
My fic for @taste-thewaste as part of the @anywhere-with-you-event. I signed up to this to challenge myself & getting to write for Amber made it a special treat.
(set the alarms my dear) there's a million lives to live. | 2.1k | E
Henry encounters the Quinn app while Alex is on vacation with some law school friends. Both Henry and Alex make some discoveries about pleasure.
The Quinn fic & my first proper Explicit fic! This fic was inspired by my own discovery of Quinn, that app & community have helped me get my creative spark back and process a lot mentally, very similar to what being in this fandom does for me too.
Digital Love Letters | 8.9k (WIP) | T
Alex and Henry are long distance (most of the time) and are soppy, horny idiots in love. [Ft. Occasional super six group chats, cheeky emails between Zahra and Shaan and our favourite agents chatting shit about the little shits they look after etc]
The fic that launched me back into fanfic and into the RWRB fandom. This is when I posted the last update, it astounds me how much love this fic has gotten. It means the world 💛
December
I caught that holiday glee, my true love gave it to me | 0.8k | T
When Alex finds out the Shelter has a staff holiday baking competition with the prize being a stay at the new suite at the Beekman hotel, he immediately dives in.
One of my drabbles for RWRB Festive Fan Fest. I can't wait to do the event even bigger & better next year cause these were a lot of fun!
All the way home I'll be warm | 0.8k | G
Snow arrives at Balmoral and Beatrice reminds Philip how to have a bit of fun. AKA older Fox siblings fluff extravaganza ❄️
Another FFF fic, and it's made me want to write more Fox siblings in the future.
We all will be together, if the fates allow | 0.4k | G
A Christmas morning for a young Henry ✨
And this FFF fic cemented my need to write more Fox family vibes. Especially more Arthur and Catherine.
Santa's comin' to town (with secrets in his hands) | 1.7k (WIP) | T (Changing this with part 2)
Percy organises a Secret Santa party and June has a tiny emotional crisis over it.
My Junora college AU! I'm praying it'll be done before the year is up and put it this way, we're going out with a bang ✨
⭐ If you've made it all the way through, firstly well done & here's a gatorade, secondly thank you for your support this year. I've not focused on my original writing as much this year but despite that I feel like my writing muscle is in great shape & thanks to fanfic I'm feeling up to getting the book into shape. As a thank you, I'm going to leave you with the WIP list, and we're dipping into other fandoms babyyyy! ⭐
WIP List
A Siren Song (Accompaniment: Heartstrings) | RWRB | Sequel to a frightening magic I cling to
alex_u_want_him_2_dick_u_down.pdf | RWRB | Inspired by NFWMB by @cricketnationrise
Spooky Ballet AU | RWRB
Bigender Alex AU: Part 4 | RWRB
Henry's White Gay Guy Privilege | RWRB
Her Royal Highness | RWRB
Last Year's Songs Still Holding Up | Young Royals | 10 years in the future, Simon meets the kid who had his photo taken with him
the lean and hungry type | RWRB | Alex discovers dentists know when you've given a blow job & is a lil shit to Henry
The Prince & He | RWRB | The Prince & Me AU that I've teased for too long
Trans Alex PWP | RWRB | Coming veryyyyy soon
Tristan's Bisexual Awakening | Doctor Odyssey | the way this show is rotting my brain, definitely won't be the last fic I write about Doc O
Troye Sivan Collab | RWRB | not writing with the Australian pop prince unfortunately but this is another collab I'm very excited to eventually get to.
Big Feelings & Big Sister | RWRB | The boys' wedding day from June & Bea's POV
Quinn Fic Sequel | RWRB | the interest in this was insane so of course I gotta give the people what they want
Tag You're It: @taste-thewaste @thighzp @emmalostinwonderland @royal-chandler @suseagull5914 @judasofsuburbia @seths-rogens & Open tag 💛

big lessons i have learned about shifting, from someone who has shifted.
— LET GO
i know this advice is over said but hear me out, because when i mean it, i mean i explain it in a different way.
when people talking about letting go, they mean detaching yourself from the whole concept of shifting. but if anything, i think that some of you guys just don’t understand the concept of shifting in general.
in order to let go, you have to be willing to get comfortable with the idea of leaving everything that you have in the past. you have to be comfortable with the idea of not scripting, of not knowing what comes next. you have to be comfortable with not remembering your reality when you shift back to your cr, you have to be comfortable with not remembering your cr when you’re in your dr. you have to be comfortable with having flaws in your dr that is scary, because life is scary and your dr is REAL, it is a REALity.
yes you CAN have all of those things, but you also have to be comfortable with the idea of not having them because life does not have stability.
— VISUALIZATION vs DAY DREAMING
there is a big difference between visualization and day dreaming. when someone visualizes, they imagine it with the intent of it some day happen in their reality. when someone day dreams, they imagine it with speculation on what COULD happen if they were aligned in that reality.
you day dream in your cr because you understand there are possibilities to life. but do not complicate that with visualization of your dr because you will only create distance when you treat it like it is just a possibility and nothing more.
— STOP SHARING YOUR DR
you are not going around sharing all of the details of your cr, so why are you doing the same with your dr? you are treating your dr like it is a story that you wrote, one that needs to be shared. when in reality, it is a life that you are going to be living, a life that still needs it’s privacy.
when you share your scripts, youre going to give your brain expectations that shifting is nothing more than a social affair. treat your dr with the same privacies as your cr, of course you can still share it, but have some grace when you share it.
i am going to sound very critical but, some people online share all of their affairs in their dr and it makes it sound like a poorly written fanfiction. it is scripts with no expectations of the real life they will be living. of course, reality is limitless, script whatever you want. but if you were going around doing.. yk.. in your cr, i bet you that you would not be sharing all of your details online. sharing stuff from your dr with no regards just makes your mind view it less as a reality.
thanks for reading, i just wanted to share because i was thinking about my life in retrospect and thought i better write it out before i forget lolol

Tbh the media consumption thing is funny from the POV of someone hoping to learn new languages/improve my Mandarin skills. Like, so if I am listening to this Chinese pop star and watching all these Taiwanese movies and reading these Chinese classics and having fun with them, does that fall under 'media consumption' or does the fact that I am doing it for the purpose of language learning make it not count?
yy it's very incoherent. i think that's the point, though - like, this isn't a coherent category of behaviours, it's a rhetorical move. it's appealing to the set of cultural anxieties that accusations of "consumption" in whatever form can invoke (passivity, disengagement, overindulgence, the kind of rhetorical shades of laziness + gluttony lurking in the background) & yoking that to similar anxieties about being "too online," needing to "go outside," "log off," etc. it's degeneration theory specifically for people who are in just close enough quarters with fandom spaces to feel the need to assert their personal distance from fandom practices in the first place. but it's v much like, Our Glorious Media Analysis vs Their Debased Media Consumption

WARNING: SPOILERS WILL BE COMING! 🚨
So, as we all know, part 1 of season 6 is dropping tonight! It's looking like midnight my time, and because I am a large baby, that is past my bedtime.
I'm going to be binging the episodes early tomorrow morning, and posting my ranting rambling thoughts here - maybe I'll just use this post? - the way I did for the first five episodes of my rewatch.
I will hide them under a cut, and I don't plan on posting anything about the new season outside of this post for a week or so.
Basically, if you want to avoid spoilers: read with caution!
Episode 1: Peacetime in the Valley
…God I really love how they do music on this show.
Okay this peace better die real fucking quick because I’m annoyed.
CHOZEN IN A SHORT ROBE, NOW WE’RE TALKING.
Looking at this newspaper clipping, I wonder if we’re supposed to care about little details or if they just didn’t really care and it’s completely random. If it’s NOT random, I have thoughts:
Why is the photographer who took Terry’s mugshot only named by their initials. Anyone know a B.T.?
…okay, looking at the column on the left, this had better be a joke. CLOWN MURDER?!
And then the article itself is cobbled together. Unless this is just a fake newspaper as a plant, then this is pretty week bud.
Coincidentally, if you or any other showrunner would like to hire me to write fake newspaper articles for your show or movie so that people like me don’t tear you apart online, I am available!
Okay so Tory and Robby are clearly still together, and the only thing that isn’t complete peace is Kenny and Anthony only looking at each other from a distance?
DANIEL’S SMUG SMILE AS THE COBRA KAI LOGO GETS THROWN AWAY GO FUCK YOURSELF SIR.
Amanda YES, bring up Terry getting the charges dropped!
Kreese vs. US Marshals eh?
Stop talking about my man without showing him, Daniel.
Oh good, already tension between Daniel and Johnny’s views on things.
OH JOHNNY LOOKS GENUINELY DEVASTATED THAT THEY DEMOLISHED THE ABANDONED WAREHOUSE.
…wow we really are just forgiving Benedict Penis Breath for some reason, huh?
IT DID NOT TAKE AWHILE FOR YOU TWO TO TALK AGAIN, ROBBY. YOU LITERALLY JUST HAD A FIGHT AND THAT SEEMED TO FIX EVERYTHING??
…Johnny wants to use fire on the children? I can think of a couple that can be guinea pigs *cough*KYLER*cough*
Ohhhhhh… Daniel picking Chozen over Johnny isn’t gonna end well. What if instead we got rid of Daniel and Johnny and Chozen hung out.
– insert Sekai Taikai exposition here –
And the new name of the dojo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis… I MEAN, WE’VE ALL BEEN CALLING IT MIYAGI-FANG FOREVER.
Of course Daniel is angry (I mean it is a stupid picture of Mr. Miyagi but still)
…Chozen going against Johnny here really doesn’t check out. But I am here for a Chozen vs. Johnny fight.
The worst double-date in history! WHO CARES IF SHE DOESN’T WANT TO LEARN MIYAGI-DO??
Robby, don’t you dare speak ill of the precious Kenny/Silver mentorship dynamic you JERK.
Daniel (and Chozen) being so dismissive of Johnny’s feelings makes me sad
Oh DIP OMINOUS TEXT MESSAGE GOOD THING YOU BOUGHT THAT AXE.
Tory looks so sad and I hate it. Eat your waffle cone, Miguel.
Robby why in the hell would interrupting the game make Kenny want to listen to you? Also lmao look who’s taller now Kenny grew like 2 feet.
HI SHAWN. …Being ominous in an arcade is great.
Daniel preaching balance when he’s simultaneously…Daniel is infuriating.
…Chozen alcoholism subplot? ANDNO KUMIKO?! BUT I SHIP IT SO HARD!
Oh Johnny really brought the axe huh?
OH MY GOD STINGRAY I’M DYING.
Shawn your child brother is starting high school please do not take him to a strip club.
ROBBY WHY WOULD YOU APPROACH WHILE THEY HAVE BATS.
WE DON’T WANT TO FIGHT, he says while joining the fight!
…am I Stingray? “Because it’s awesome” – I WILL BELIEVE IN COBRA KAI FOREVER.
And he appreciates that Amanda is a smokeshow.
Don’t you dare disrespect ponytail dude, Shawn Payne.
Did the prison system actually help Shawn? SHOCKING.
Daniel being the bigger person? Only took HOW MANY DECADES?!
…so we’re calling it Miyagi-Do? Even though it’s not just Miyagi-Do? THIS IS DUMB.
We don’t get to see how Kreese got to Korea? REALLY?!
Episode 2: The Prize
NICK! YAY TERRY BACKSTORY! (Also Barrett yay but I mean… TERRY)
Kreese defending her is so cute OH MY GOD SHE’S IN THE AIR CHILL OUT GRAMPS.
Oh good, sewage in the cooking pots.
Not a real talk about money on this show! Oh, we’re cutting away?
…Why did we linger on that one student when Kim said “Silver is gone now”? Am I just looking for hope where there isn’t any?
I’m sorry, how old is this man going to be now? HE LOOKED 80 IN THE LATE 60S.
Does Amanda just dress like that everyday? Daniel is a lucky man.
I would watch an entire YouTube series in the vein of Trixie & Katya’s “I Like to Watch” that’s just Chozen watching reality shows.
“Your incompetence is why I must stay alive” is a brutal fucking line.
Kyler and his gaggle of 45 year old college freshmen. Or just Brucks.
…please think Chozen and Johnny are a gay couple, Mr. Realtor. Okay no, but Johnny blowing this up pretty spectacularly is pretty great.
Why do I feel like this is going to culminate in Kreese stabbing Immortal Kim because he’s “worthy of taking control”?
OR THE SNAKE COULD BITE HIM UMMMM.
As someone who has been in university in some capacity for like a decade, this… was not my experience. Though watching Kyler get shit on is kind of fun.
OH NO DUTCH REFERENCE. HE’S STILL IN PRISON THOUGH THAT’S GOOD.
Deus ex Johnny-fan ftw!
NOT HALLUCINATION NICK MARINI!
…Okay, so we are just gonna double down on the homoeroticism with men being each other’s weaknesses? I mean I’m here for it.
Frats have always seemed so stupid to me, with hazing and shit. Even for morons like Kyler. Never thought I’d see the day where I’m rooting for Kyler but I guess here we are. DESTROY THE DOUCHEBAGS. (Though how is anyone getting into college with this ASSAULT)
American tourist loses mind in cave, talks to snake. Film at 11.
Kyler acknowledging he’s a moron? I’m here for it. NO NOT ANOTHER FRAT COME ON.
LMAO Johnny insisting he has a job – AND IT WORKS HE JUST STARTS SELLING CARS.
Amanda is right though, what’s in the briefcase, Johnny?
Kim Da-Eun is gonna JUMP Kreese’s bones istg
Episode 3: Sleeper
Chozen freeloading is hilarious
“Chicks dig me” as a response to possibly having a daughter is crazy.
WHAT’S IN THE BOX?!
…the cobra is still in your dealership, Daniel?
“I’m a girl dad” – Johnny Lawrence, 2024 (or whatever year this is supposed to be I can’t remember)
…okay this episode is called Sleeper and we’re seeing that same student we did in the last episode when they said “Silver is gone now” DID TERRY HAVE A BASTARD CHILD AND NOT KNOW ABOUT IT?!
You tell ‘em, Devon.
Lol “LEE, CALL YOUR DAD, YOU’RE HANDLING THIS PROBLEM AT YOUR HOUSE.”
Please don’t be a stupid retcon of Miyagi’s character please don’t be a stupid retcon of Miyagi’s character please don’t be a stupid retcon of Miyagi’s character please don’t be a stupid retcon of Miyagi’s character please don’t be a stupid retcon of Miyagi’s character
Got a lot of mystery boxes in this episode, huh?
…”we can have a girls’ night,” says the 50-something year old man to the 3 teenaged girls he isn’t related to. I do love his relationship with Devon though. It’s a shame she’s going to die in a freak karate accident so that Johnny can name his daughter after her.
THE HORRORS LOCKED AWAY IN A HIDDEN COMPARTMENT ARE THAT HE WAS A BOXER?!
…oh and he beat the shit out of people.
AND HE CHANGED HIS NAME?! OKAY SHIT’S GETTING INTERESTING.
Lmao the Ouija board fakeout
Yeah good Daniel, leave your dolled-up wife in the shady gym.
OH MY GOD JOHNNY PLEASE STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING.
Kreese is really just trying to make a bunch of killing machines (or at least one, anyway), huh?
The Big 3 weren’t lying when they said they were going all out this season with the fights.
Also is Kreese just fine with the snake bite? He’s fine?
Oh noooo, Mr. Miyagi wasn’t a perfect human I’m SHOCKED.
Johnny is SO happy they’re fighting I love it – OH NO BOOOOOOOOOO PEACE. Go get matching tattoos or something you dorks.
Oh no Daniel, is your perfect worldview crumbling? Was surrogate daddy not as perfect as you thought?
YES, CHOZEN. WHAT DID HAPPEN IN CANCUN?
Nooo Chozen don’t leave even if it is for Kumiko I’LL MISS YOU.
Yes, let’s end the episode on “girls are easy”
Oh no wait, more Daniel mourning the loss of his innocence
Were the rumours right? We’re going to Spain? LET’S GOOOOOOO – wait how are they going to afford everyone going?
And we’re down to six – Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Sam, Tory… Kenny/Demetri/Devon?
Episode 4: Underdogs
Hawk thinks patriotism will earn him a spot? God I hate that mohawk.
“Each and every one of you has a shot, even though many of you are either our children, close enough to be our children, or are our clear favourites”
SHUT UP DEVON IF ANTHONY GETS PICKED I’M GOING TO KILL SOMEONE.
Johnny assuming he’s as good as a partner at the dealership is KILLING me
THANK YOU FOR TELLING HIM NO ABOUT ANTHONY, JOHNNY.
Why is Daniel so against them… actually earning their spots?
Hi Mike!
Lol flashback – but why not show Terry?
YES DEVON MY QUEEN.
AWWW, Penis Breath is so happy with his new name.
SERIOUSLY? ANTHONY?
If Anthony makes it I’m killing myself.
Devon speaking up for all neglected minor characters everywhere.
What in the actual fuck is going on. Go away Yasmine you suck. OKAY BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF DEMETRI’S HAPPINESS. …maybe her dumping him would’ve been better she is the WORST.
Binary Bros. will be the couple with the drama this season.
This capture the flag game seems fun but Mike can’t look at everyone at once…
I mean your son IS going to bleed and get the shit kicked out of him, Daniel. Wake up. No? Gonna keep feeding him your bs? Cool.
Barnes has quite the craftsmanship.
JOHNNY VS MIKE LET’S GOOOOOOOO… but away from the saw please.
HEY HE SAID THE THING.
…we’re really just gonna call each other bad boys with a straight face?
Okay Devon, enough with the negative self-talk. You’re sounding like me.
NOOOOOO Binary Bros. are fighting!
Kenny is kind of cocky af and I hope he doesn’t get it.
Smart move would’ve been to go up top and see if you can spot the flag…
OH WE TOOK KENNY OUT WITH A CHEAP TRICK…that’s not funny.
Oh SHIT Demetri is being an asshat. Why is NO ONE asking bout Hawk?
MAN now Devon has to feel bad because someone else chea– OH MY GOD IT WAS HER.
Episode 5: Best of the Best
Why does Tory’s mom healing feel so ominous why does Tory’s mom healing feel so ominous why does Tory’s mom healing feel so ominous why does Tory’s mom healing feel so ominous
Oh look Kreese has come for a visit.
And yet another blonde champion has turned against Kreese.
OH MY GOD, DEMETRI SHUT UP.
Robby you lovestruck little fool it’s adorable.
I really love Terry (duh) but Johnny is 100% my favourite Sensei.
HEY LEAVE THAT CANADIAN DUMMY ALONE, EH?
What about your worst impulses, Danny Boy?  S H U T    U P   and appreciate your hot wife for once, Jesus!
…Carmen is going to go into labour in this episode isn’t she.
AND there it is! Nope wait, false alarm. Everybody go hug Miguel.
NO NO NO DON’T BE DEAD NO NO NO
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT
HER FIST WAS CLENCHED – WAS IT KREESE?
Why does Sam and Miguel’s relationship seem so focused on beating Robby and Tory? While Robby and Tory seem actually into each other?
Daniel you suck, you hypocritical, self-righteous twat.
This is some mighty fine acting, Miss Peyton List. Best crier on the show since Xolo!
JOHNNY YOU HAVE A BABY ON THE WAY CAN YOU NOT YANK THE STEERING WHEEL.
…he’s right though. SHUT UP DANIEL.
Okay but Johnny this is really stupid you’ve sold cars for four minutes.
LMAO “YOU’RE FINALLY LEAVING HIM” GOD AMANDA LISTEN TO JOHNNY HE’S RIGHT.
Johnny gonna embrace boxing with the students? Daniel can’t really say anything about it not being about Mr. Miyagi then.
She kept… the bottlecap… I AM NOT OKAY.
You did not try, Daniel. Shut the fuck up. I’m mad at you. Go away. Get your head outta your ass.
You don’t get to know everything about anyone, Daniel. Especially when you’ve got your head so far in the sand you can’t even come to grips with who YOU are.
Amanda go find Tory. GO FIND TORY, AMANDA.
Okay there’s Tory. USE THAT MOTIVATION, ROBBY.
Can Robby get a decent haircut for once please? He’s a cute kid, his head deserves better.
Good for you, Robby. (Also why do I feel like he’s going to change his last name to Lawrence once the baby is born and then they’ll all just be one big happy sappy family)
I’m sure that Tory seeing both of Sam’s living and supportive parents there won’t screw her up at all.
Oh that’s gonna be Tory’s therapist or something for Amanda isn’t it UH OH.
YEAH YOU NEED TO STOP THE FIGHT.
OH SHIT. Not Danny striking first.
FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH WITH THIS KUMBAYA SHIT.
…Kenny’s gonna be mad about that – oh wait he’s not there and I’m sure it’s going well for him.
Not the bloodstained headband.
…Hawk really kept the dumb mohawk for the tournament huh?
Tory and Kenny gonna be fighting for Korea with Kreese?
(Why is Kreese there? This is televised? The police??)
LET’S FUCKING GO TORY.

PR Anon - Part 2 (last post from me because i should really unplug and enjoy my vacation lol. I appreciate everyone being interested in my opinion, i do enjoy my job and human behavior. For context, I work in corporate PR, mainly male executives. I'll say this, regardless of industry, men are men. sometimes...) Here is my personal thoughts about LN. I think he's a good actor and handsome, none of what i'm about to say is to hate on him at all. I'm thinking of him in context as if he was my client/a male actor on a hit show. 1. LN was/is underprepared for what he needed to do to really take this opportunity to the next level for his personal career. Idk if it's because he expected things to just happen, didn't pay attention to his team or is just choosing to ignore advice; but he's fumbling the bag. I truly understand that he can be overwhelmed by it all, but you have a team you can lean on and utilize. He may be 31, but I think he lacks some maturity that's coming into play. 2. The Canada interview was at least the second time LN has mentioned that he's learning from NC because she's had previous success with Derry Girls. He needs to stop with that narrative because i have a feeling it's going to bite him in the butt. I think it's an immature way of thinking because LN was on a Disney Show (Disney training/media/etc for their actors is no joke) plus he was in a boy band. They may have not amounted to the same amount of hype/success as Derry Girls, but it's nothing to scoff at and he should be building upon those things as well. This feels like he's using it as an excuse for the way he's handling things.... 3. Social media is critical to the success of actors these days. The industry wants a ROI on their investments. So much of the $$ actors make these days will come from brand sponsorships/marketing and right now, his social media scoring is not great for someone on a highly promoted show compared to NC. (yes, marketers will compare bc as of right now, they are tied together) 4. Idk what type of actor he's looking to be (artistic vs commercial) but either way, he's going to struggle if he doesn't make some changes IMO. If he wants to do artsy films that get critical acclaim, they don't pay well and he'll need to supplement income via brand sponsorships etc. Hence the issue with #2. If he wants to do commercial things, he'll need to get onboard with media training for studios to consider him. I said it in a previous post, the marketing money into season is insane, it's being noticed by the industry. 5. Lastly, I think he's in a real pickle at the moment. NC is very beloved; she's getting critical, commercial and public love. If he does launch his relationship with A (who knows, don't care) the internet is not forgiving and the same shitstorm from last week will come up over and over again. If he says nothing, then he needs to be aware of how he's perceived by the general public in all the upcoming promo. He was a bit standoffish (IMO!) on the Canada show (crossed arms, distance between themselves, deflection in answers). People have noticed and there is chatter already about it online. He needs to warm it up to smooth out the "landing" of this promo season. I really do wish LN success and want to see him really grow into his own. I wish both NC and LN a ton of success in the near future. If anything, this has been a really interesting case study for those of us in the PR industry and maybe for those of you who are interested in how the PR industry thinks of things. It's not an easy job, lots of consider with human behavior and free will of your client.
I’m not sure I am buying into this but thank you for sharing!

What You Need to Know Before Visiting Japan
Tumblr media
Thinking of visiting Japan? Get ready for a one-of-a-kind adventure filled with tradition, tech, and unforgettable sights. But before you pack your bags, there are a few key things to know that’ll make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.
From navigating subways to mastering etiquette, this guide breaks down the essentials—money tips, mobile internet, cultural dos and don’ts, and more. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, being prepared helps you explore Japan with ease and confidence.
Pre-Trip Essentials for Visiting Japan
Going to Japan can be super fun, but you gotta prepare first. Here’s what you should know about currency exchange, internet options, and packing smart.
Currency Exchange & Airport Services
You’ll need to deal with currency exchange Japan when you arrive. The money there is called yen (JPY). You can get cash a few ways:
Currency Exchange Counters at airports and big stations.
International ATMs Japan are easy to find. Look for ones that take foreign cards, like 7-Eleven or Citibank ATMs.
Cash still works best in many places. Cards work too but mostly in cities and big shops. Carry some yen just in case smaller spots only take cash.
Also, the airport Wi-Fi Japan lets you check maps and apps right when you land. That helps with travel preparation.
SIM Card Options: eSIM, Prepaid, and Pocket Wifi
Staying online in Japan helps a lot. You can pick from a few choices:
Japan tourist SIM card: These prepaid SIMs are great if you’re there for a short time.
eSIM Japan: If your phone supports it, this is a neat option without needing a physical card.
Pocket WiFi in Japan: This small device lets several gadgets connect at once — handy for groups.
Pick whichever fits your internet needs best while you’re in the country.
Suitcase Travel Tips: Packing Light for Japan
Packing light makes getting around easier and cheaper. Try these tips on your packing list for Japan:
Choose clothes that match easily.
Pack layers because the weather can change fast.
Bring comfy shoes since you’ll walk a lot.
Follow these simple tips on money, internet, and packing to help make your trip smooth and easy!
Navigating Japan with Ease
Traveling to Japan can be really fun, but it can also feel a bit tricky. Planning ahead helps a lot. Knowing some insider tips and helpful advice makes your trip easier.
Before you go, learn about local transport, culture, and how things work. This way, you avoid getting lost or stuck with cash-only spots. Whether you’re in Tokyo or Kyoto, having a plan lets you enjoy the trip more.
Google Maps & Subway Connections in Tokyo & Kyoto
Tokyo’s transit system works well but is pretty complex. Different companies run many subway lines that cross paths in big stations like mazes. Without help, finding your way can take time.
Google Maps makes this easier. It shows train times and tells you how to walk between platforms inside huge stations like Shinjuku.
Kyoto’s subway is smaller but connects to buses that reach major tourist places fast. The city’s central spots make it easy to visit temples and shrines quickly.
Try these tips to save time:
Travel outside rush hours.
Check station maps online before you go.
Use apps that guide you step-by-step inside stations.
These tricks help you move around busy stations without confusion.
Japan Rail Pass vs. Suica Card: Which Is Right for You?
Picking between a Japan Rail Pass and a Suica card depends on your trip style:
Japan Rail Pass
Good if you travel long distances across many places.
Covers JR trains including Shinkansen (except Nozomi).
You must buy it before arriving in Japan.
Suica Card
Prepaid card mainly for short trips in cities like Tokyo.
Works on subways, buses, vending machines, stores.
Easy to add money at stations; no need for tickets every time.
Cash still works in many places but cards are faster when switching trains often.
Some tips for public transport:
Check if your route needs JR trains before buying passes.
Carry both cards if possible; some spots accept only one kind.
Report lost cards fast online to protect your balance if allowed.
If you stay mostly in cities without lots of long trips, Suica fits well. For trips covering multiple cities with daily long rides, the JR Pass might save money.
Subway Etiquette and Navigating Public Transport
Tumblr media
Knowing Japanese subway manners makes travel polite and smooth:
Speak quietly; phone calls inside trains are not ok.
Give up priority seats for older people, pregnant women, or disabled passengers.
Wait in line behind marked spots until the doors open; pushing isn’t allowed even when it’s crowded.
Japanese public transport shows respect and order among riders.
Other customs include taking off backpacks when places get tight so they don’t block aisles or seats — a simple way to show care for others around you.
Following these rules helps avoid awkward moments and shows locals that you respect their culture.
Using these basics—like planning routes with Google Maps or choosing the right transport card—you’ll get around Japan without much hassle and show respect for local ways. At Japan Nakama, we want travelers to have better experiences with less stress.
Frequently Asked Questions

Understanding Japanese Culture & Etiquette
Traveling to Japan gives you a chance to see a culture full of old traditions and polite ways. Knowing some Japanese etiquette helps you meet locals better and avoid problems. Here are some key Japan cultural tips and must-know advice for respectful travel.
Japanese people care a lot about politeness and keeping peace. Instead of shaking hands, they bow to show respect.
You should keep your voice down in public places because loud talking is rude there. Spotting these cultural differences will make your trip nicer and stop any mix-ups.
Basic Japanese Phrases and Using Google Translate
Knowing simple Japanese phrases can help a lot when you talk with people each day. Greetings like konnichiwa (hello), arigatou (thank you), and sumimasen (excuse me or sorry) show good manners.
Language barriers happen, but tech makes it easier. People use Google Translate in Japan a lot. Its camera feature translates signs right away—very handy for reading menus or maps. Make sure you download the app before your trip.
Here are some must-know phrases:
Onegaishimasu – Please
Wakarimasen – I don’t understand
Toire wa doko desu ka? – Where is the restroom?
Using these phrases with Google Translate will make talking easier during your stay.
Japanese Etiquette: Do's and Don'ts for Smooth Travel
Knowing what to do and what not to do stops you from being rude by mistake around polite locals.
Do’s:
Take off your shoes before entering homes or some traditional places.
Use both hands when giving or taking things.
Follow eating manners, like don’t stick chopsticks straight up in rice.
Wait calmly in line at train stations; pushing is not okay.
Don’ts:
Don’t tip; tipping can confuse or offend because it’s not normal there.
Don’t talk loudly on trains; keep phones silent too.
Don’t point with chopsticks or pass food from one chopstick to another—that reminds people of funeral customs.
Following these easy rules keeps good vibes with local customs during your visit.
Dealing with Rubbish Bins and Public Spaces
Japan has strict rules for trash, but public trash bins are hard to find.
Usually, people carry their rubbish until they see bins near convenience stores or train stations. They separate trash into burnable, non-burnable, and recyclables—even when walking around.
On public transportation:
Keep noise low out of respect for others.
Eating on trains depends on where you are; avoid strong-smelling foods unless you ride long-distance trains where it’s allowed.
Being careful about throwing away trash shows respect for Japan’s clean streets—an important part of local etiquette all visitors should know.
By learning these key parts of Japanese culture, language basics, etiquette do’s-and-don’ts, plus trash habits, you’ll have better experiences while visiting Japan. Accommodation Types: Ryokans, Business Hotels, Capsules, Hostels
Japan offers a wide variety of accommodation options to suit every budget and travel style. Whether you're looking for a traditional experience, a practical stay in the city, or something unique, choosing the right place can make your trip more enjoyable.
Here's a breakdown of four common accommodation types in Japan:
Ryokans
Ryokans are old-fashioned Japanese inns with tatami mat floors and sliding doors. Many feature shared hot springs called onsen, providing a relaxing and cultural experience.
Guests enjoy traditional kaiseki meals and quiet, peaceful surroundings. Remember to remove your shoes indoors and keep your voice low to respect the atmosphere.
Business Hotels
Business hotels offer small, simple rooms that include essentials like Wi-Fi and breakfast. They’re ideal for solo travelers or those making short stops in busy city centers.
Capsule Hotels
Capsule hotels offer tiny sleeping pods just big enough for one person. Found all over Japan, they are a budget-friendly and unique option. However, they don’t provide much space beyond the capsule itself.
Hostels
Hostels are a good choice for travelers on a tight budget. You can stay in a dorm bunk bed or choose a private room.
Many hostels have shared spaces that encourage socializing, but guests are still expected to follow Japanese customs like staying clean and keeping quiet.
Choose your accommodation based on your preferences and space needs. For a traditional experience, go with a ryokan.
Convenience Stores: Your Unexpected Travel Companion
In Japan, convenience stores, or konbini, are everywhere and open all day and night. They are super handy for travelers on the move.
You’ll find fresh food like bento boxes, sandwiches, rice balls (onigiri), plus snacks and drinks. Need toiletries or some medicine? Konbini usually carry those too.
Japanese vending machines fill in when you can’t reach a store. You can grab hot coffee or cold drinks anytime outside without waiting.
Snacks from these places show off local tastes well. Try matcha sweets or fried chicken bites while walking around town.
Hotel Location: Choosing the Right Neighborhood
Choosing the right place to stay can shape your entire Japan travel experience. The neighborhood you pick affects how much you see, how easily you get around, and how comfortable your daily routine feels.
Here are key factors to consider when selecting your hotel location in Japan:
Stay Near Major Attractions
Booking a hotel close to popular sites like Tokyo Tower or Kyoto’s temples helps you save time and see more. You’ll spend less of your day commuting and more of it enjoying the sights.
Choose Hotels Near Major Train Stations
Accommodations near major train stations offer easy access to subways, buses, and airport transfers. These locations are ideal for navigating the city and even taking day trips to rural areas.
Look for Central Areas with Late-Night Options
Central neighborhoods typically have restaurants that stay open late. This gives you flexibility for evening meals and snacks after a long day of sightseeing.
Find Tourist-Friendly Services Nearby
Staying in well-connected areas means easy access to traveler-friendly services like currency exchange and luggage storage—helping to simplify your trip.
Prepare for Japan’s Hospitality Scene
Knowing where to stay, what food is available nearby, and how different accommodations work helps reduce stress before your journey begins.
Popular Attractions Booking: Avoiding Long Queues
Booking tickets before you go helps you skip long lines at Japan’s top spots. Places like Universal Studios Japan (USJ), TeamLab exhibitions, and Chureito Pagoda get really crowded.
Using sites like Klook to book ahead saves a lot of waiting time. Some tours even offer skip-the-line passes, which can save you hours during busy times.
If you plan to visit Mt Fuji viewpoints or popular city attractions, check their official sites for timed tickets. Early morning visits usually have fewer people. Trusted booking services also give you cancel options and local help if needed.
Getting your tickets in advance means you spend more time enjoying and less time standing around. This is one of the best Japan sightseeing tips for a smooth trip.
Eating and Drinking Etiquette: Cultural Considerations
Japanese food has lots to offer—from casual izakayas to fancy multi-course kaiseki meals. Knowing the right manners makes eating there better and shows respect for the culture.
Some important tips:
No tipping: Tipping isn’t done in Japan. It can even be seen as rude.
Chopstick rules: Don’t stick chopsticks straight up in rice or pass food chopstick-to-chopstick. Both remind people of funeral customs.
Slurping noodles: It’s polite to slurp noodles softly but don’t chew loudly.
Drinking together: Wait until everyone has a drink before starting. Saying “Kanpai!” (cheers) together is usual.
Izakayas are lively places where sharing small dishes brings people closer. Kaiseki meals use seasonal ingredients with beautiful plating—great for tasting real Japan food culture.
Following these rules helps you avoid mistakes and enjoy meals more.
Weather in Japan: Packing for Different Seasons
Tumblr media
Japan’s weather changes a lot by season. Packing right lets you feel comfy all trip long.
Spring (March–May): Temps are mild with cherry blossoms everywhere. Bring light jackets and layers.
Summer (June–August): Summers get hot and sticky, often over 30°C (86°F). Wear breathable clothes, use sunblock, and drink water.
Autumn (September–November): Cool air and colorful leaves appear. Pack sweaters or light coats for evenings.
Winter (December–February): It gets cold, especially in the north. Bring warm gear like hats and gloves if you visit snowy areas.
Seasonal events match the weather—hanami flower parties in spring or fall festivals celebrating colors happen then. Checking a good Japan weather guide helps you pack smartly and enjoy cultural events well.
Picking outfits for these conditions makes walking around easier—whether hiking near Mt Fuji or strolling city streets after dark.
For those wanting tips I wish I had before going to Japan—these simple ideas make travel smoother by mixing culture, food, and comfort without fuss.

Kloktober 2023 Day 20
Original character or self-insert
I'm not much for OC content but I do have an OC called Molly Rttengerlrtn that I created at the beginning of the year. And today's prompt is a great opportunity to introduce more people to her :) She's a silly little girl. <3
Below is an illustration of Molly, drawn by my friend! This entry also features his OC, Klokateer N°479 :D
Tumblr media
It had started so long ago. Four years ago and 6 months with 2 weeks and 1 day to be exact. Molly had been dragged by her friends to this metal band, Dethklok or something. Apparently they were big but Molly wasn’t really into metal. She liked vaporwave music and 8-bit music, so when Dethklok started playing, she was convinced it wasn’t for her.
In her boredom, she tried to hunt for any signs of homoeroticism within the band. If she wasn’t going to enjoy the music, at least she could try to entertain herself with some good old fanservice.
Unfortunately, these Dethklok guys were really devoted to their instruments, barely paying attention to each other. Vocalist and guitarist were such a classic duo with lots of tension in between them, however neither the huge black-haired guy or the tall blonde seemed to care about anything besides looking hardcore as hell.
She did notice, however, that there were two guitarists in the band, which piqued her interest just a little bit. Wasn’t sharing instruments totally gay? It also, sort of seemed like the brunet guy was copying the poses of the tall blonde, though she wasn’t sure. From then on, she zoomed in on the guitarists and stopped paying attention to fuck-else.
And then, the blonde one started playing a solo and she could not help but gasp. No, she didn’t care about the solo, that wasn’t the point. It was the fact that the brunet was looking at the blond with almost bitterness in his eyes. Bitterness and…jealousy? The brunet looked away and Molly could not be entirely sure because of the distance but she could’ve sworn he had rolled his eyes. And she felt it.
Like the second coming of Jesus.
Like the ascension to Nirvana.
She had found her new life’s purpose.
And it was…to ship these two guys!
Tumblr media
From then on, it had all happened so fast. She urged her friend to tell her more about them and learned that their names were Skwisgaar and Toki, and that they were Scandinavians. She also learnt that Skwisgaar was the band’s womanizer and also the most popular amongst women. On the other hand, Toki was the youngest band member and also regarded as ‘the cute one’. All this information was incredibly fascinating and only fed her growing obsession.
When she got home, she started watching band interviews and found out that Skwisgaar and Toki’s English was pretty poor and that Skwisgaar was quite arrogant vs Toki’s more friendly manner. She took notes, she studied it all. 8 hours of footage and no sleep later, Molly felt like she was starting to get a grasp of these guys. However, the music was a fundamental part of their relationship so she started listening to her albums. Turns out, it was a lot more bearable now that she was doing it with a specific goal in mind. And, man, was the way their guitars complemented each other absolutely gay.
She kept researching for the rest of the weekend: theories, fanforums, articles, random comments under their performance videos, anything she could find. She even found out there was an already shipping fanbase and that the name of the pairing was Skwistok.
On Monday morning she faked having a fever so she didn’t have to go to school. As soon as her mother left the room, she grabbed her laptop and started typing furiously. A few hours later, Molly posted her first Skwistok fanfiction online. It was a short little story about Toki having a secret crush on Skwisgaar. It was a massive success, with commenters asking for more and linking to their own stories and drawings.
She had found her people.
From then on, Molly kept writing more and more and befriending fellow Skwistoks, with whom she shared her own theories and ideas about the nordic guitarists. SSoon enough, she realized the Skwistok community was not only pretty big, but also that a lot of them lived in California. And so, Molly decided to found the first Skwistok club ever, based in LA. They met every second Sunday of the month to discuss their findings and artworks.
Life continued, some of them grew apart, some of them died (Dethklok fans died a LOT during concerts), but new people joined too. Molly finished high school and got a part job at a smoke shop while taking Scandinavian studies during the day. Even when life was busy, she always had time for Skwistok.
One day, while looking at her commenter’s section on her latest fic, she noticed someone under the name of ‘anon479’ had written the following:
Hey skwistokfujo420
Your works are great.
I have something you might like.
Message me.
Curiosity getting the better of her, Molly immediately opened the commenter’s profile and wrote him a ‘hi :3’. Less than 10 minutes later, 479 replied to her, claiming to be Klokateer for Dethklok and that he could give him inside information on Skwisgaar and Toki if she agreed to write really specific stories about Murderface.
Understandably skeptical, Molly asked for proof that he indeed worked for the most famous band in the world. 479 shortly after sent her a picture of Toki’s underwear drawer and Skwisgaar sleeping in the infamous Mordhaus hot tub, guitar on his lap. He claimed that he was putting his life at risk with this, but he was truly desperate.
It was a no-brainer, Molly accepted and 479 sent a long detailed list of kinks that he wanted to see Murderface subjected to. In exchange, he would report any interaction between Skwisgaar and Toki he had witnessed, as well as send any pictures she wanted. Molly asked why he had chosen her out of the hundreds of Dethklok shippers out there and 479 said that he had been scurrying the fandom for a long time but didn’t like any of the Murderface content she saw. In his desperation, he had started reading stories of other ships. When he stumbled with one of Molly’s fics, he grew enamored with how perfectly in-character he was, and thus decided to deposit all his dreams and hopes in her. Molly was flattered, but mostly she felt very lucky.
And like that, started the most productive business relationship of Molly’s entire life. They talked every two weeks, in which Molly would deliver her latest story featuring Murderface and a brand new kink, while 479 would dump all the footage he had been able to collect, as well as gossip on Skwisgaar and Toki’s lives. It was fascinating really, she was now able to see facets of the men that she would’ve never gotten to otherwise. Evidently, it affected her writing as her characterization now had to take in account Skwisgaar and Toki’s behavior behind the public lens. She didn’t tell anyone where she was getting it, though, both because she knew they wouldn’t believe her and also because she didn’t want to share.
Eventually, 479 and Molly became friends too, casually chatting about their everyday lives.
skwistokfujo420: yoooo
anon479: Hello.
skwistokfujo420: whatcha up 2
anon479: Just cleaning some coworker’s blood. He got accidentally impaled by Sir Toki last night.
skwistokfujo420: oh noo :((
skwistokfujo420: was he cute while doing it at least? :3
anon479: He panicked for about 30 seconds until Murderface tripped with the blood. And then they all started making fun of him.
skwistokfujo420: LOL
anon479: It gave me a new idea for a story.
skwistokfujo420: oh??
anon479: I’ll send the concept later.
skwistokfujo420: oki
skwistokfujo420: a costumer just said my skwistok shirt is rlly cool :3
anon479: Is it the purple one?
skwistokfujo420: nop, the pink one
anon479: Oh…the purple one is my favorite.
anon479: I gotta go, Sir Nathan is screaming that his chips are too salty.
skwistokfujo420: bye bye!
anon479: Talk to you later.
Molly put her phone back in her pocket and glanced at the time. With delight, she realized her shift was almost over, so she packed her things and waved his coworkers goodbye.
The customer that had praised her shirt earlier was sitting at a bench right by the entrance. She waved at Molly, walking up to her in a hurry. “Hi, I wanted to ask you about something, if that’s ok.”
Molly raised her eyebrows and then readjusted her glasses. “Sure.”
The girl glanced to the sides and then leaned in to say. “I’m a Skwistok shipper too…” She pulled back hesitating before talking again. “I heard there’s a group in LA…do you know anything about it?”
Molly’s face turned solemn. “I might. But I need to make sure you’re not a spy.” Over the years, Skwistok antis had tried to get in the club for their own wicked purposes so Molly had developed a security test before letting anyone new in.
Nervously, the girl stood straight. “I’m ready.”
Inhaling, Molly took a long look at the girl. She had long brown hair, wore oval-shaped glasses and was dressed all-in-black. “Favorite Skwistok fact?”
“That Skwisgaar accepted Toki into the band!”
“Top or bottom Toki?”
“Both is good, but I prefer top!”
“Dom or sub Skwisgaar?”
“Dom all the way!”
“Is Skwistok mutual or unreciprocated?”
“It’s complicated but it’s mutual! They’re meant to be!”
“Name your favorite Skwistok fic!”
“Skwisgaar’s Not Good, Very Bad Time with Tentacles and Other Kinks by jizzgaar!”
Molly smirked. That was her friend’s epic Skwistok erotica. “Any Skwistok merch?”
The girl searched in her backpack and pulled out a Skwistok pin.
“Stand down!” Molly said and the girl stood straight again. “What’s your name, soldier?”
“C-Clara!” The girl stammered, her eyes on the front.
“Well, Clara…” Molly shoved a card inside her hand. “Hope to see you this Saturday.”
Clara looked down at the card, where the exact address and time for the bi-monthly Skwistok club meeting would take place. She gasped with excitement, her free hand covering her mouth, eyes welling up with tears. “Thank you…”
Smiling, Molly patted her shoulder and turned around. “Skwistok canon!” She shouted as she walked away.
“Skwistok canon!” Clara repeated behind her.
Molly rubbed her hands, an impish grin on her face. The Skwistok family had gained a new member.

05 ∙ bonus: whenceforth do the night walkers go? screens as a means of travel
[ ✼ part 5 of the self is not me, but us series ]
confessions of a night walker really stood out to me on first listen because a) it's xz's gorgeous, tinkling voice; b) i love night walks!; c) i could look at it through an academic lens.
so, as a nerdy little bonus before we move on...
Tumblr media
the song reads at first like a wistful critique of modern society: we've become creatures of connection, largely through the feedback loops (SEE, IT'S HERE TOO) on our screens. there is an almost perverse beauty to the fact that the internet never sleeps, that you only need to reach out and there will be a community somewhere to be a part of. but at what cost — and is this a husk of what human connection should be?
❝ drawing oxygen from the wireless network ❞
❝ those who walk at night never turn off their lights allowing the night to be completely resplendent ❞
❝ a sacrifice for loneliness a complement for darkness looking for someone who is the same ❞
as if on cue, my media theory major reared her ugly head and asked: if 夜行人 literally means someone who goes around at night — fellow travellers at night — then isn't there a fun contrast between physical travel and the imagined travel through a screen?
margaret morse talks about this in one of my favourite media theories ever: the ontologies of everyday distraction.
the theory mostly explores the concept of imagined mobility (the feeling of travelling even if you're not) and re-imagining mobility (challenging the notion that travelling must be a physical movement of the body). she says these three things are all mediums of travel: the freeway (i.e. the roads), the mall, and the television.
everyone knows freeways take you to places physically, a stretch of road longer than most others to evoke satisfaction for having travelled a long way.
but the mall — or in this case, "online shopping with more abandon" — brings places to you. the infinite products available for sale makes your little shopping app this utopia of consumption, a litany of the world's offerings in your palm. you no longer have to be in the same place as the thing you want to buy: you can buy japanese matcha from your local department store in sydney, or from your too-small apartment in new york.
this shopping experience is similar to the 'travel' you get from screens — the television, the phone, the computer.
even after you retreat back into the private space of your home, your screens give you the ability to 'interact' with things outside the home: commodities, people, stories that belong to others (film, news, etc). this has been the case for all screens — even dating back to the radio/newspapers, really — where they have always been a way of escapism. filling the human void for new sensations, a curious hunger for things you would otherwise never be able to see.
❝ treat the unfamiliar with sincerity treat the familiar with cruelty ❞
we do this because we're all constantly looking for something new to ✨ Spark Joy ✨. we tire of the same things too quickly, our attention spans shorter and shorter, flicking through reels and pictures and channels on the hunt for something to satiate our desire for the new.
❝ the further the distance the more complete a person ❞
the mall and the television (and our screens now) all acquaint people with this imagined mobility: going places in our minds even though we aren't going anywhere physically. it taps into the same part of our brain that finds satisfaction — or at least fascination — in learning about world news, because it makes us seem well-read or well-travelled.
⎯⎯ ୨୧ ⎯⎯
OKAY ENOUGH CHELS what does this have to do with xz or this album?!?!?!?!
the overall theme of the album, and a focal point of drifting especially, is that we exist at the intersection between two realms. whether that's dreams vs. reality, the singular self vs. the plural self, or inner sphere vs. outer world, every single song has touched on this in some way or the other.
and i found it an interesting parallel with morse's conclusion in the book: that "everyday distraction" doesn't mean that a singular realm is being interrupted. just because your screens give you access to the public sphere while you're at home doesn't make your home any less private. it just means that we're capable of inhabiting multiple realms at once.
xz's multiplicity of the self, right?
consider also: the fact that xz's profession revolves around being seen on screen(s). every time he steps onto a stage or into a role, he exists at the intersection of two spaces: the world of the character he's trying to play, and how little or how much of himself he should be bringing to the portrayal.
Tumblr media
consider also 2.0: he's said before that being an actor enables him to live entirely different lives and experience things he would otherwise never be able to experience as xiao zhan. oh hey, isn't that imagined mobility? :)
sorry im a big nerd i will shut up now
for readers who aren't interested in the cp portion of this analysis, this is a great place to turn back! thank you for reading this far, and i hope you enjoyed the stay ♡
←  prev ┊ part 4: why i say this album is xiao zhan in a bottle →  next ┊ part 6: the elephant in the room: reading this album as a cpf

wheeeeee ch 1 - the prologue to another wild arc! here are my thoughts and things and whatever translation weirdness I find as I begin my re-read of Trigun Maximum vol 4!
(NOTE: I'm reading the Dark Horse [physical] and the Overhaul [online] translations side-by-side)
I love how domestic and hopeful this volume starts out. the mounting horror and hardship makes you appreciate such peaceful times that much more =u=
Tumblr media
(Dark Horse on left, Overhaul on right)
this feels rly important, too, how hope starts sinking in for Wolfwood when he learns about how they've been sending these transmissions back to Earth for almost a century. imo the Overhaul's wording choices do a better job at conveying that hopeful infiltration - 'WILL this happen' VS 'CAN this happen' and then we have Wolfwood's prayer.
both translations have an "amen" on the very next page, so either way, you get the sense that there's a prayer going on...but I think that the Overhaul wording it like a prayer gives what Wolfwood says here more impact, at least for me. Dark Horse's translation feels...idk, like Wolfwood's still clinging to some cynicism? like...the focus isn't so much on hope as it is on staying alive. the Overhaul, meanwhile, gives you this sense that something within Wolfwood is changing. he still has his doubts, still has his guilt, but now, genuine hope has taken root.
that's what it feels like to me, anyway.
so then HOW!!! FKING!!! BEAUTIFUL IS IT!!! that the very next thing we see is Earth establishing contact!!!!!!!! 🥹
Tumblr media
(Dark Horse on top, Overhaul on bottom)
interesting translation discrepancy here - acknowledgment/being aware of one another VS reuniting.
Tumblr media
this difference in which bits are attributed to who is interesting, too. here's how Dark Horse puts it...
Tumblr media
...VS how it is in the Overhaul.
waaahhhhhhhh Sempaiiiiii 😭
Tumblr media
something I didn't catch previously - here we see an illustration of some more of Vash and/or Knives' abilities as plants: ① sensing one another (and/or their angel arm use?) from extreme distances and ② an angel arm affecting minute things (like causing a glass to crack) from an extreme distance......or, y'know, taking out a fucking satellite.
Tumblr media
oh and I noticed that Dark Horse p consistently has Knives referring to humans as "trash" or "garbage" whereas in the Overhaul, he consistently calls us "insects". that's an interesting distinction - waste or that which is dirty VS pests that are beneath him and in need of extermination.
(side-note: I believe there's a Studio Orange interview transcript where they talk about tristamp Knives seeing humans as insects?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
no comment here, rly - just putting these up for comparison
Tumblr media
"people will worry" VS "I don't want to make people worry" - the Overhaul doing a better job showing Vash always putting others first
(also this whole exchange between Vash and Brad reminds me of Roberto catching Vash as he's about to leave town at the end of tristamp ep 1)
Tumblr media
and it's so sweet how, at the end of this arc, Brad is so concerned about Vash leaving! he even seems to be over Jessica's crush on Vash, going like "hey, at least say something to her!" we love that good, good character development! Brad is such a good bean 🥹
...the translation discrepancies here have me scratching my head, tho;;;;;

After Jennie and Jungkook get married, how would they describe their marriage relationship when they’re asked about it in interviews? How would they describe the difference being married vs. being boyfriend/girlfriend?
I rambled! I hope it makes sense! Brainstorming!
I'd say they'd describe their marriage as adventurous and fun. There are times it will get hard but they'll work as a team to get through any obstacles. They're both still as silly and playful as they were when they were dating. And it's more on a serious level as they plan for the future, especially regarding children and living in South Korea and so on.
Like as they get older and also be in the engagement/married period of their relationship, I see them more open and flirty on social media. Yeah, I will have them do that from time to time as boyfriend and girlfriend but it goes to a new level when they're married/engaged.
Being less busy when Bangtan is on hiatus and the military services are being done with the members, their passion for each other will increase a lot as well and they will get tested a lot regarding the distance and time apart when Jungkook is enlisted. Also they'll learn to compromise better when they are married which will be something they'd have some issues with while dating sometimes.
For instance, spending time with each other during busy schedules. These two young adults started off their relationship privately and spent a lot of time together. That free time is going to decrease as Bangtan gets bigger and bigger globally with the years going by in the story. Of course I will still be writing lots of JenKook fluff but realistically that is going to take a toll on their relationship and test them.
I'm thinking of their first fight to be due to lack of time spent with each other because BTS is getting more popular, the schedules are getting packed, one is free while the other is not, and due to being tired and missing dates unintentionally when work goes overtime.
And another argument I had in mind is her getting mad at him for not respecting her wishes on being quieter when gaming with his friends online while she's trying to concentrate and work on a song.
They'll compromise in marriage like Jennie taking a little hiatus from Bangtan for pregnancy while still occasionally working behind the scenes, where to live and raise their family, they'll settle for South Korea while still having a place in America to be able to be near Jen's family and ect. Marriage will be hard work for them but they will be a good team.
When talking about the difference being married vs being boyfriend/girlfriend:
Yeah they're gonna be open and proud to be dating but I also still see them as lowkey when they are boyfriend and girlfriend. Yes, we got that big social media reveal as I'm working on that chapter but supporters will be enjoying any crumbs on JenKook when they decide to post each other or watch anything filmed of them. And the media would always try to push this agenda that they broke up since they don't see too many posts about them from time to time. Sometimes JenKook would post something together and it would speak volumes that nothing was wrong with their relationship.
Being married is a more stronger commitment for them as they take their relationship to new heights and build a future together. Their emotional connection is deeper than it was dating and they'll begin to seriously use the word "We" and "Us" in conversations.
Overall, dating and married, the two will always be excited to talk about each other when asked in interviews. People will notice how they glow and smile when thinking of each other.
There will be times they will both be like, "I cannot stand him/her," and then later on they'll be like, "I really love him/her"
"The Black Girlfriend Effect" already hit Jungkook but when "The Black Wife Effect" hits, it'll hit him tenfold. I see ARMY making a huge trend of videos about JenKook with that.

Hello and Good Morning.
First of all, let me state that I am 1000% a fan of Taehyung Kim. 1000%! Tati is my favorite of all the BTS characters and I still say that 'I Borahoy You' is a genius quote.
However, I feel it is my CIVIC DUTY to also alert you to some---concerns I, and The Fandom, have regarding the behavior of Taehyung (who IS my bias and who I honestly am an extreme fan of)--specifically regarding 'false promises' that another anon has helpfully addressed out of the goodness of their heart.
First of all, I have to let you all know that I have recently finished an online course in Deciphering the Words of Criminals-- so I feel this makes me perfect in being able to tell what Taehyung (my bias, I promise he is) means vs what he actually says---even better than he does! When I tell you that this course was very, very prestigious, please believe me. We are talking about an Enigma Machine Codebreaking, FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit level skillset here. Trust me, I would not waste my $39 on just any old course.
Anyway, I do think (or I do know for sure but let me not be arrogant) that Taehyung makes false promises. What people without my skill might not realise is that whenever Taehyung uses the word 'I' (his native tongue included) this is actually a coded promise and should be taken as 100% conclusive intent and a direct promise of whatever he says before or following it. Now you might think this is unreasonable. That's because, for most people, it is--but via this online course, I also learned how to apply my deciphering skills to specific individuals based on what I already thought about them---in a professional way, of course. So, situationally, the rules that apply to Taehyung might not apply to everyone, or anyone, else and this is 100% fair because my opinion matters and makes up 99.4% of the final read and decipherisation of what I know Taehyung actually means when he says what he says.
Now I know how much you people value 'proof' on here, so I have collected and compiled some statements from The Fandom about all the ways they feel let down by Taehyung (my idol and fave, he really is) and his false promises.
Swerved Anon- "As much as it sickens me to say, I haven't been able to stan Taehyung since he dyed his hair black. I feel like I was set up by the bold colors and icy blondes. Black just came out of nowhere! It was such a swerve. I felt so let down"
Disappointed Anon- "When Taehyung first introduced us to Yeontan, I thought that dog was so pretty and cute that it had to be a girl. Then I found out he was a boy and I was like 'Wow, thanks a lot for lying, Taehyung! >:{"
Confused and Embarrassed Anon- "When I first joined ARMY, I didn't realise that V and Taehyung were the same person so imagine how embarrassed I was when I claimed them both as my bias and bias wrecker! My friends laughed at me for a week all because of you, Taehyung. I hope you and your split personality are happy with yourself!"
Confused and Ashamed Anon- "Honestly, I thought V-Live was called V-Live because V owned it and it was all about him except he lied, because it wasn't. It was just V-Live meaning everyone so I really don't know why he'd go and call it V-Live when it had nothing to do with him in the first place???
Furious and Lonely Anon--"Taehyung needs to keep his hands of my---I mean Jimin's---husband!!! What happened to alllll the distance we saw between Taekook in 2018? Now they're all over each other?? How is that not false promise to only love me---I mean, Jimin? {:(((("
Sober Anon---"Taehyung said he hadn't drank for two months but JK said he did so clearly, Taehyung has never told the truth in his whole life."
~fin
And there you go. This is just a small portion of stories from The Fandom from Fans who feel personally let down and fully betrayed by Taehyung.
Please believe me when I say, these are not my personal beliefs or sentiments. This is an unbiased review of my bias. I love Taehyung, even if he is a fully confirmed liar in my eyes. Despite all the false promises and disappointments, I love him still. No matter what other criminal behavior he engages in, I will always be there to explain it, in depth, to people who never asked me to in the first place--because that's how much of a fan I am.
Usually, I would charge for such expert profiling but since giving my unsolicited opinion and putting words in people's mouths happens to be a hobby of mine, I'm going to waive my fee. I just hope you're now all fully aware of what kind of man Kim Taehyung is and you will all act appropriately now that I've enlightened you and changed your mind.
Hi anon!
I am so glad I have you to open my eyes 😂😂😂

Having a variety of tools for a variety of approaches to training can be very beneficial for training historical fencing.
But also having enough money to start up training with full sparring gear and metal swords can be prohibitevely expensive for many people.
In such cases getting some foam swords and minimal protection (mask, gorget, cup, lighter gloves) can go a long way to help folks start out their fencing journey.
And if you're trying to start a club it's potentially a difference between 'tough but doable' and 'straight up impossible unless a big life change happens'.
Today there are many options for foam swords you can order online, but it can be great to be able to DIY some of it.
The above link is a finnish guide on how to do it that many high level hemaists there have used, and similar to how many larpers and sca etc. folks have made their own weapons for years back, but a bit optimized for hema purposes.
Google translate is imperfect but you should be able to understand all the general concepts and get better with follow up attempts.
Also keep in mind the first attempt once you have all the relevant materials(that are fairly cheap pretty much everywhere) it'll likely take you anywhere between 30min and 3h to finish a single foam sword.
But after a few tries you may need no more than 20min per foam sword.
These types of training tools are also great for any day where you don't want to put full regular gear on but still want to fence a bit in minimal gear. They're also great for instilling confidence in beginners to move freely, even if in full gear.
They're also more forgiving and safer if you know there's folks who struggle with control, at least a stepping stone before they're ready to fence freely with steel.
They're also slightly lighter than the steel versions so also more appropriate for beginners if you want more class time to be devoted to training skill, whether through drills, games etc. than to building physical capacity.
However even an experienced student may find them a great tool for improving timing and distance management.
Good luck and hope you all find this useful.
