Like i know dante, faust, virgil and heathcliff, obviously, and gregor is the main character in kafka's metamorphosis. Ishmael is from moby dick and obviously don quichote is don quichotebut im not sure about the others. Isnt Sinclair a character in monte Christo? I haven't read that one yet

5: (truth) If your parents knew everything you’ve ever done, what would they think is the worst thing? (dare) Tag the three nonmutuals you admire most.

Okay, so this is actually a true "truth" question as in owning up. I'm afraid I had a little bit of a rebel phase when I was around 13, 14 (I think), in which I did some tagging/graffiti 🙈 Nothing too bad, I believed back then (of course I know now that there is no excuse, it was vandalism and nothing else), but when my dad was about to find out I knew it would be bad. I lied straight to his face about not being involved and he believed me. And that's the part I'd feel worst about when he'd find out all these years later. He trusted me blindly and never stopped doing that, but I surely don't deserve all of that (even though I turned out alright).

1. A theater show in two weeks about Don Quichot, starring one of my fav Dutch artists. Just a fun night out. 2. The start of the new outdoor tennis season, early april. Can't wait to be surounded by trees again. 3. Getting a new cat. I'm far from over the loss of my old one, but the house is way to empty now and I'm just really looking forward to finding and getting to know a new little friend.

I took this pic of Tasya Teles and Eliza Taylor (Echo and Clarke from The 100) at Dutch Comic Con to (also) post on here. It's not hard to guess why I never did so (embarrassing quality!) and why I just stopped trying altogether... 🤣 Which kind of worked out, cause now I could just enjoy the interview.

En explorant les livres qui sont dans ma liseuse j'ai découvert plein de livres trop cool Pour vous donner un peu le contexte je suis capable de lire aisément : le français et l'anglais A la limite je pourrais tenter de comprendre de l'espagnol mais il me faudrait un dico, internet et beaucoup de temps pour m'aider

Dans les livres qui m'intéresserai j'ai trouvé :

Don quichote (en Néerlandais) Les mythes de Chtulhu (en espagnol) Une compilation d'enquêtes de Sherlock Holmes (en Allemand)

Puis y a aussi beaucoup de romans Russes dont je comprends pas le titre parce que j'ai séché mes cours d'alphabet cyrillique

J'ai vu qu'en Espagnol il y avait les 3 mousquetaires, je me suis dit "Ah bah ça sera aussi dans le dossier français", non Dans le dossier français y a Boule de suif, l'Illiade et un roman qui s'appelle "Lola, petite, grosse et exhibitionniste" entre autre mais voilà

Je sais pas qui a été engagé pour choisir les romans à mettre par défaut dans les liseuses mais...

Ah si en anglais y a Orgueil et Préjugés, Moby Dick, Dracula, Frankenstein et Alice au pays des merveilles, donc tout n'est pas à jeter

“Don Quichot in the Smart City”

On 5 September, we will organize the second Salon in collaboration with the research program Human Values for Smarter Cities. This year, the Salon will be held in Amsterdam, one of the project's three partner cities. 

In this ThingsCon Salon, we will explore the changing roles of designers in contemporary developments involving human values and smart city technologies. We will focus on how participatory design is related to citizen-driven processes.

We are guests at AMS-institute, another partner in the research program. We will have a workshop on contestability loops by Kars Alfrink (16:00-18:00), and in the evening a program with three insightful talks by Evelien Zengerink (City of Amsterdam), Vera van der Burg (TU Delft), and Geke van Dijk (STBY).

TH/NGS 2024

We celebrate 10 years of ThingsCon this year! We return to the Volkshotel in Amsterdam. Our theme for this year is “Generative Things”.  As our default digital life extends with generative AI, we are driven this year by our curiosity about what new generative things will look like that emerge from the transformation of AI-twin to tangible experiences, and how they will behave and play a role in our lives. We invite our speakers and workshop hosts to share their visions on this emerging reality, formulate critical questions, or sketch out possible futures.

Next to our proven mix of talks and sessions and showcasing the latest work by students and practitioners at our exhibition, we are also doing something special: we are curating a special exhibition of the near future “generative things,” designed and made as tangible "provotypes". Check out last year’s aftermovie!

We have already some of our favorite thinkers on these topics confirmed as keynote speakers. Matt Webb, Simone Rebaudengo, and Iohanna Nicenboim will be part of our program. We will announce more in our next newsletter. We are open to ideas for sessions in our workshop slots or short product presentations; use our form.

More program details in the next email. We opened registration for early deciders. Early birds are open until the end of September. Buying your ticket early helps us plan the conference, and you save up to 30% on the ticket price. For those who register in August, we will even have a special “souvenir”.

Apprécié des habitants de notre petite ville, il semble depuis quelques temps absent de ses promenades ; il fume beaucoup, l'air ailleurs et oublieux. Il s'accompagne maintenant d'une statue légère, faite de bois et de cartons peints, qu'il transporte jusqu'à un banc installé près de notre rivière, la Véore. La statue est de taille humaine et lui fait comme un ami ; ils sont tristes et solitaires.

“A la conquête de ton corps”

A la sortie du grand cabaret de mon ecole de danse aérienne, il m’attend.

La tête baissée nonchalament, au premier coup d’œil il me donne une impression de force tranquille. Contenue.

Comme un ouragan dans un verre d’eau.

Retournez le verre et place à la tempête.

Je sens que si je pose mes mains sur lui avec la bonne energie, je peux faire danser quelques vagues au gré du feu de mes entrailles.

Tumultueux, envoûtant, mais tout aussi apaisant que le manteau de la nuit d’hiver sous une épaisse couverture.

Un chant des sirènes qui lui promet une seconde de repi.

De paix.

La promesse qu’en buvant le doux nectar volé prestament à mes levres, il oubliera.

Le Monde.

Sa cohorte tumultueuse.

Les marques laissées avec tant d’impudence sur les espoirs brisés de sa droiture.

Alors il me serre tout contre lui, et je ne sais plus lequel de nous deux est hâpé par l’autre.

Sa peau est chaude, douce, et je me delecte de son contact contre la mienne.

Assoifé, affamé, plein de ce désir enraciné au fond des tripes, il parcourt mon cou de sa bouche insatiable.

Don Quichote sur les vallées de mes courbes, il part à l’assaut d’une route infinie de plaisir muni de sa quête de renaissance.

Dans un souffle chaud échappé, il se colle à mon dos, à decouvert.

Ses mains s’ancrent sur mes hanches avant de les plaquer contre lui, fermement, avec ardeur.

A son tour de m’hypnotiser.

Il envahit ma nuque avec gourmandise,

Sa main droite se detache de son emprise pour partir coloniser les collines de mon buste en amont, en memorisant les courbes tactilement, avec engouement, comme pour en constituer une carte de territoire à conquérir.

Fier matador, je suis le taureau avec lequel il lui faut danser le temps d’un instant.

Un tango plein de fougue.

Un peu plus tard au moment de se quitter, je prends volontairement un temps de pause, la tête posée dans le creu de son cou.

Concentrée plus sur sa douceur que sur la chaleur qu’il degage, ce que j’ai appris de lui ce soir complete l’image que j’ai de cet homme, si fort, et je comprends que derriere son ardeur se cache un profond besoin de chaleur humaine.

Non, pas humaine, féminine.

De cette chaleur qu’on n’achète pas.

Celle de quelqu’un qui nous voit tel que nous sommes, sans artifices.

Qui voit de la beauté sur chaque cicatrice dont la vie nous a parées, gallons de guerre, je dois être un amiral quelque part.

Celle de quelqu’un qui veut en couvrir chaque centimetre carré de baisers pour soigner ce qui saigne encore sans se voir.

Alors je l’embrasse un peu plus lentement, mes mains se glissent dans ses cheveux, et c’est un autre langage qui se parle entre nos levres entremêlées.

Viggo Waas krijgt rol in musical De man van La Mancha

FOTO:©Theateralliantie Viggo Waas speelt vanaf deze week de rol van President en herbergier in de musical De man van La Mancha. Hij gaat de rol delen met Stefan Rokebrand die al sinds de première in de musical over Don Quichot (gespeeld door Huub van der Lubbe) speelt. Waas speelt zijn première op woensdag 21 februari in Martiniplaza in Groningen. Op deze avond zal ook Marisa van Eyle haar…

16. Describe your favorite hoodie. How long have you had it? What makes it unique?

I have an very worn, over-sized GAP hoodie that belonged to my friend that I'm super attached to. I helped her clean out her wardrobe when she was moving countries and she would have binned it if I hadn't called dibs. She said it was gross bc it was her comfort hoodie and she'd just spend days moping and sobbing it it so naturally I was like THATS PERFECT I'LL USE IT THE SAME WAY It's so precious to me <3

21. What's your favourite period in art history? Favorite famous work and/or style of art?

I don't know stuff about art!! But I like van Gogh and I love Hieronymus Bosch' work. Special shoutout to Dali's Don Quichote and ballet designs.

49. What's your favourite thing to do when it's raining?

Blanket fort lets go
