^^^ i love that op is pointing this out bc this is a fundamental aspect of Victor's characterization. he is a sickly - disabled - man living in the late 1700s, he doesn't actually know if any given winter will be his last, and that is why he's had a fascination with the powers of life and death since childhood!! his medical state is one of his most prominent underlying motives. it is the driving force behind his experiments, and i find it endlessly frustrating that it is utterly erased within the popular perception of his character.

if you see a Victor Frankenstein who isn't motivated by his disability, who conducts his research solely out of unbridled curiosity and hubris - that isn't a Victor Frankenstein.

that's Henry Jekyll and he's in the wrong fucking story, call wildlife control

decided to compile a list of all Victor Frankenstein’s medical symptoms and why they occurred. I’m only on page 49 but I have 24 things listed and many concerns for this fictional man. He convulses and has tachycardia a lot.

Henry Jekyll and Victor Frankenstein are either hardcore rivals that hate each others guts and always claim their science is better than the others. OR. Henry can see this 20-something year old with issues and take him under his wing immediately.
