The god of the Fall. Once mortal but ascended to godhood 1000 years ago. They see the world through the eyes of birch trees. Always observing, almost never intervening
Right: K’lumb (he/him)
A Dnd for a small campaign. An absolute idiot, but somehow made a mechanical killer owl robot. Literally his Tavern is called “k’lumb’s krumpy kavern” does not know it’s spelled incorrectly

The god of well Winter. The oldest god. A stern who’s hid themselves in the mountains. Their followers is always about toughing things out, keeping things together

THX, fanfic writers [repeating myself, end of year]
Inspired by the post from @saygoodnightlove about fan fic recommendations, I want to know as @juli-81 asked, “Whatfics made you fall in love with Outlander in a new way this year?” My first answer was “Power Jam” by @isthisclever and I’ll stick with it, because of the way this writer uses detail to make things new, especially the love story that never gets old, Jamie meets Claire, this time at a roller rink in Edinburgh. The other nine, in no particular order, sprinkled I see with many WIPs:
#2, “Wee Herbs” by @jesuisprest. OK, I have a problem with feisty Jenny, always barging in to “protect” Jamie. In “Wee Herbs,” Jenny is none too pleased to find that her brother has married the proprietor of a weed shop [it’s medical marijuana,Jenny] in California, and that California Claire has a child (Fergus, age 6, blooming nicely in West Coast soil). Claire fights fire with fire, beats Jenny at the primal battle of “family first.” WIP.
#3 “Lovers in a Dangerous Time” by @sassenachthroughtime. Is there a more romantic scene in fan fic than the one in this story when Claire, unwilling trophy wife to Fronk in oppressively staid South Carolina society, helps new next-door neighbor Jamie with clean-up after his housewarming party and he whispers, Scottish burr on fire, “Dance wi’me?” WIP.
#4 “Game Changer” by @the2ofusnow. Jamie’s the rookie of the year with the NY Mets; Claire is the team doctor, written with emotional intelligence. WIP.
#5 “Atonement” by @smashing-teacups, for its quiet scenes in the hospital when horribly-injured Jamie and compassionate-nurse Claire get to know one another. The writer gets the most out of dialogue, small moments like the one when Claire washes Jamie’s hair.
#6 “Market Price” by @desperationandgin. Both Jamie and Claire are witty and strong, despite (of course) having weathered some life-challenges, and they’re funny and sweet, unable to keep their hands off one another.
#7 “Saorsa” by @scapegrace-74. Jamie escapes Black Jack by touching the stones, lands in the midst of WW II at Lallybroch whose chatelaine is a pregnant widow, Claire, the legatee of the Randall estate. The way the two come together, inevitably, is told with grace and verve—a description that fits “anything by” @scapegrace-74, especially the stories in the “Metric Universe.” Thanks also to @scapegrace-74 for pointing to a perfect novella, “The Stars Will Sing for Us” by @fallofrain. No drama, just strong characterization when Dr. Claire moves to Broch Morda and falls in love with, guess, the sweetest, hottest guy in town; he’s good with horses too. No bland inevitability: the writer allows the reader to discover the characters as they discover one another.
#8 “Loving Jamie” by @JillianK, an 18thcentury story in which Jamie has lost inheritance when he’s rendered mute from an axe blow (Dougal?) The MacKenzie brothers arrange a marriage to Claire. The story has a fairytale quality leavened with humor, e.g ch 7 when Jamie wonders if his new wife loves him and Clarence nudges him not to get maudlin. “Christ. Now he was taking life lessons from a mule.”
#9 “Something to Believe In” by @caitrinwrites. Claire is a chef in Santa Fe and when a Scottish distiller turns up to purvey his wares at her resto, he very much resembles her daughter Brianna, age 5. WIP. This story of introducing Jamie to his lost child shows signs of rising to meet the top of the class in the genre, “Downhill” by @wickedgoodbooks (who can forget five-year-old Willie on “The Puffin Trip” with his reunited parents, Claire and Jamie?) and “Flood My Mornings” by @bonnie_wee_swordsman (Jamie’s observations about the mores of America in the 1950, all the tut-tutting about working mothers, and his comment about how the Pope can just get out of women’s way when it comes to reproductive choice). And “Written in the Stones” by @lenny9987, one of the best father-and-child reunion stories in which Jamie arrives at Craig na dun and reclaims Claire and ten-year-old Brianna, in part when she teaches him to bake chocolate chip cookies at Mrs. Graham’s house during a thunderstorm.
More than a top ten, I can’t omit “One Summer” by @missclairebelle, the glorious variant on Jamie and Claire as a bantering couple who would give Hepburn and Tracy a run for their money in their heyday. And “Jimjeran” by @betweensceneswriter, which manages to convey new love in the most heated yet nuanced fashion. Jamie and Claire are Peace Corps volunteers on a Pacific island, which shows among other things that this story is truly universal. And then there’s “In My Daughter’s Eyes” by @preciouslittleingenue, Jamie as a riding therapist to autistic Faith, four-year-old child of Claire and Fronk, who rejected his “imperfect” child. And You’ll Be in Mo Chridhe by @CrossingInStyle. Claire goes to Africa with Uncle Lamb and meets Tarzan, who is, guess ... Another good one by this prolific writer, “First Time Here?” Jamie is a bartender in Inverness who asks the question of Claire on her sequential bad dates. Nice past-present cross-stich. And “Back to You” by @balfeheughlywed. Claire is Leery’s roommate at Edinburgh U…but the writing is good. Jenny is the Worst. And “Queen’s Gambit”by @AbbeDebeaupre. Lord John is private eye, Jamie trains polo ponies… And the “Basia Mille” series by @JRC10…
This list is threatening to exceed top 20, so many good stories. Thank you, writers!

I like to think that Helena Eagan did that pep-talk in the mirror thing Dylan did to hype himself up for the Door Factory job interview --- only it was all about how crucial the Zufu meet-up would be in ensuring Mark Scout would meet her Father, get his approval for marriage instantly, and fast-track her fantasy of coming home to him every night for exhausting, steamy, hip-breaking sexcapades.

You got this. No pressure. Be cool. You are like the head of the company. SMILE, for Kier's sake...you need to SMILE more. Men LOVE smiles. *exhales, trying to calm down* Just meet in a public place. He has to eat out somewhere other than Pip's. And when he does, it's go-time. Go with the plan. It'll be just like apologizing for the video was only you'll be freaking out more, and there won't be any way to reshoot it if you f#@% it up. Who the f#@% am I kidding? I'm gonna blow it like I always do. You're getting your tempers in a tizzy. Vision. Verve. Wit. Cheer. Humility. Benevolence. Nimbleness. Probity. Wiles. That's better. Ok ok, let's run through it to feel more believable. Make sure my driver gets us there without being seen, make sure all the pre-arranged details are ready to go. Holy $#!+ I'm nervous. He is just a man. But damn, what a man --- those LIPS 🥺🥵💦✨️. I need them again. Focus. FOCUS! YOU ARE HELENA g@dd@mn EAGAN. Soooo... get his name right. HIGH PRIORITY. Men LOVE hearing their name. You can do this. You can do this. Act NATURAL. ZERO CHICANERY. That handshake is gonna make or break the deal. Everything hinges on it. Don't mother him, but encourage him to eat as it IS a dining establishment. You're so dumb! He'll already be eating. Play it cool. Just relax and breathe. What was his wife's name? No matter. It won't come up. We're talking about OUR future, not his PAST. If he invites you to sit, then it's guaranteed he'll let you take him home. You've seen it in all the Hollywood productions. Standard corporate Lumon apology, then straight on to securing his undying love. Stop clearing your throat. You sound like a sad old hamburger waiter prattling on about sauces. Dr. Mauer said you're too hard on yourself, so just stop catastrophizing. Everything is going to be fine. How could anything go wrong? You've planned all week for every possible likelihood. Just don't overplay your hand. Stick to the talking points. Say you wanna hear about his experiences but imply that it's code for sex. He'll love that. He'll love MEEEE ❤️. It's gonna be great. When he's waking up next to me in my bed the next day, all this prepping will have been so worth it.

book rec: the poison squad
why food regulation matters- the dramatic true story of how food was made safe in the United States
By the end of 19th century, food was dangerous. Lethal, even.
"Milk" might contain formaldehyde, most often used to embalm corpses. Decaying meat was preserved with both salicylic acid, a pharmaceutical chemical, and borax, a compound first identified as a cleaning product.
This was not by accident; food manufacturers had rushed to embrace the rise of industrial chemistry and were knowingly selling harmful products.
Unchecked by government regulation, basic safety, or even labelling requirements, they put profit before the health of their customers. By some estimates, in New York City alone, thousands of children were killed by "embalmed milk" every year.
Citizens - activists, journalists, scientists, and women's groups - began agitating for change. But even as protective measures were enacted in Europe. American corporations blocked even modest regulations.
Then, in 1883, Dr. Harvey Washington Wiley, a chemistry professor from Purdue University, was named chief chemist of the agriculture department, and the agency began methodically investigating food and drink fraud, even conducting shocking human tests on groups of young men who came to be known as "The Poison Squad".
Over the next 30 years, a titanic struggle took place, with the courageous and fascinating Dr. Wiley campaigning indefatigably for food safety and consumer protection.
Together with a gallant cast, including the muckraking reporter Upton Sinclair, whose fiction revealed the horrific truth about the Chicago stockyards; Fannie Farmer, then the most famous cookbook author in the country; and Henry J. Heinz, one of the few food producers who actively advocated for pure food, Dr. Wiley changed history. When the landmark 1906 Food and Drug Act was finally passed, it was known across the land, as "Dr. Wiley's Law".
Blum brings to life this timeless and hugely satisfying "David and Goliath" tale with righteous verve and style, driving home the moral imperative of confronting corporate greed and government corruption with a bracing clarity, which speaks resoundingly to the enormous social and political challenges we face today.

My favorite TV shows of the year
(Fourth try at posting this — first three tries, the paragraph breaks were stripped out. Oy.)
Man on the Inside. Ted Danson plays a retired and widowed engineering professor who answers an ad from a private detective to go undercover in a fancy San Francisco retirement home to find out who stole a resident's valuable ruby necklace. Danson's character approaches the job with verve and gusto. He falls in love with the community. He's never in any physical danger (it's not that kind of mystery).
The show is funny, entertaining and also philosophical and wise about aging, which I've been thinking a lot about lately because it is something I'm doing and plan to continue.
Sally Struthers stands out among many good performances, a reminder that she is a fine actor. Her career and reputation got done dirty after "All in the Family." Yeah, she got fat. So what?
Ted Danson's character lives in a beautiful house, immaculately kept. Every day, he puts on nice pants, a nice shirt, and often a neatly pressed sports jacket and tie with matching pocket square. This has inspired me to start dressing better every day — no, I'm not going as far as Ted Danson's character, but lately I've been putting on a shirt with a collar rather than a T-shirt, and I'm easing out the sweatshirts in favor of sweaters and a flannel shirt. Hey, it's a start.
Evil. A Black priest, Muslim-American atheist science wiz and lapsed Catholic woman psychologist investigate a Satanic cult in New York, on behalf of the Catholic Church. Scary, dramatic and funny. Watching it, I was many times reminded of an interview by actress Dee Wallace Stone, in which she said she loved doing horror because of the range it gave her as an actor: You got to do all the emotions portrayed in comedy and drama, plus terror (obviously) and murderous rage.
Katja Herbers plays the psychologist Kristen Bouchard, and she goes from wholesome Mom to professional psychologist, cool-headed demon hunter and occasional sex vixen when the role demands it. She's a Dutch actor, but she believably plays an educated native New Yorker. Mike Colter ("The Good Wife," "Luke Cage") plays David Acosta, who is at first studying to become a priest and then becomes one. He's a big, handsome fellow, and of course there is much sexual tension between him and Dr. Bouchard. Aasif Mandvi, formerly a correspondent on The Daily Show, plays Ben Shakir, the Muslim-American atheist and science wiz. Also watch for the four Bouchard prepubescent daughters who are almost always together and talk at the same time; Christine Lahti as Dr. Bouchard's hot Mom; Michael Emerson, known to me from "Lost," playing a smarmy villain in that actor's excellent, smarmy style; Andrea Martin, known to me from SCTV and "My Big Fat Greek Wedding," as a tough nun; and Wallace Shawn as a priest.
The show is surprisingly smart on the conflict between faith and science, and on portraying the Church as a corruptible human institution and also a vessel of God. As I become more spiritual, one of the characters' throwaway lines about religion and science has become a touchstone for me — that God exists and loves us, but reveals Himself entirely through the workings of the universe.
The Lincoln Lawyer. Mickey Haller, a high-priced Los Angeles lawyer, defends murder suspects who happen to be innocent and also happen to have scads of money to keep him in fancy suits and Lincoln cars. Becki Newton steals the show as Lorna Crane, Haller's ex-wife, friend and office manager, who looks, dresses and talks like a Real Housewife but is smart and ruthless in defense of the innocent. It's a lighthearted, unchallenging show.
The Diplomat. Keri Russell, ex of "The Americans" and "Felicity," plays a U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain, and Rufus Sewell plays her husband, a former diplomat who can't stop meddling in state affairs. Light, complexly plotted and fun, with a "West Wing" vibe.
High Potential. A quirky former cleaning lady for the LAPD turns out to be a genius and helps them solve crimes.
Slow Horses. I loved the first season, but Julie hated it, so I'll either find time to watch it on my own or forget about it. I've got two ten-hour flights in February and March, and I've already got about 73 hours of TV lined up for them.
Bad Monkey. Based on a Carl Hiaasen novel, and the only thing I've ever seen onscreen that captures Hiaasen's dark humor — one gag in the show involves a severed arm — his big heart, quirky characters and keen sense of Florida locations. The show stars Vince Vaughn. Gen X irony seems to be the extent of his acting range, but he's great at that, so he's cast pretty well here.
Doctor Who.
Fallout. A gross-out post-nuclear apocalyptic science fiction comedy-drama. Walton Goggins has a dual role, in flashbacks as a handsome, wholesome cowboy actor of the late 1950s and early 1960s, who becomes a murderous mutated ghoul with a missing nose. Goggins is such a great actor he doesn't need a nose.
Shogun.
Manhunt. A 19th Century procedural about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the days following Lincoln's assassination. Oligarchs take advantage of the power vacuum following Lincoln's assassination to ensure they get their payday and that American Blacks get Jim Crow instead of true emancipation.
Resident Alien. Comedy science fiction starting Alan Tudyk as an alien trying to blend in in a present-day American small town and slowly falling in love with the community. It's "Northern Exposure," but it's an alien in Colorado instead of a New York Jew in Alaska. Hey, both main characters are doctors.
All Creatures Great and Small. Life in a country veterinary practice in rural Yorkshire, England in the 1930s. Peak comfort TV. Lots of people wearing sweaters.
Funny Woman. Based on a Nick Hornby novel and set in the 1960s, a beauty contest winner from England's Blackpool comes to London dreaming of becoming a comedy star like her idol, Lucille Ball. After some struggling actress travails, she stars in a hit sitcom of the era and rubs shoulders with the beautiful people on Carnaby Street. Season Two is currently airing in the UK, but I've seen no indication of its coming to the US. However, I'm in no rush; much as I loved the show and novel it was based on, the story seemed complete in one season.
Julia. A historical drama about Julia Child's cooking show launch in the early 1960s and her rise as a celebrity chef. Disappointingly canceled after two seasons.
1923. Angst and gunplay in 1923 Montana, starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, and created by Taylor Sheridan. A prequel series to "Yellowstone." The characters are miserable and violent all the time, and any joy they feel is fleeting and merely a setup for more misery and violence. So we loved it.
For All Mankind
Currently watching
The Rockford Files. The 1970s TV series is finally streaming without commercials, on Amazon Prime. It still holds up. The dialogue is fast and witty, the plots are complex and twisty, James Garner as Rockford is as dry and cool as a good martini. Yeah, the clothes are goofy but the cars are cool.
"Columbo" is on Amazon Prime too, also presumably without commercials. I'm looking forward to watching that.
Shetland. Season nine of the murder mystery set in the remote, desolate and beautiful Shetland Islands in northern Great Britain. If you didn't get enough people wearing sweaters in "All Creatures Great and Small," you'll get even more here. So much wool it makes me scratchy to watch.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Pew pew pew.

Alright! After several hours. My new backdrop for my devices has been created! I basically thrown a bunch of my OCS (most from my dnd world but others are included) and thrown them together. Then I thought. Huh a lot of these characters have a lot of fun and hypothetical dynamics. So I added them as well. Just as fun little Easter eggs just for me! Below are a few of my favorites and the context behind them.

The greatest staring contest of all time. (A birch tree vs. a owl made of knowlege)

My oldest OCs, Jasmine and Lennot. Really good mentor/student relationship though in the plot i have for them that takes a while. Btu they’re buds.

Not so great emenies. Tele (on the left) was basically forced to wear a TV head due to the maniac on the right (a horrid “surgery occurred). Now wants revenge and will do anything to take that revenge

A patron and their deity. A complex relationship. The patron on teh left is grateful that they’re still alive but is half zombie. Thus deals with a lot of mental but especially physical disabilities by being half a rotting corpses. Also has to maintain and teach their god’s teachign ontop of all of this.

The only romance I’ve really created. And it doesn’t really last long. After all, a bird’s life is nothing compared to a lich’s. It was nice while it lasted though

Both scared and frankentined into a weird hybrids. These two don’t canonically meet but if they did they would have a wonderful time
There’s plenty more and i might add a little chart on which characters have interactions. It’s like a crossword, but OCs. Have fun!

Seen "One Day" on Netflix yet?
Pas series ini muncul aku ngga lsg nonton. Malah ngejer dulu si queen of tears kan, karena si avatar aja belom kelar ini nobar sama suami, lg bnyk kerjaan bgt trus keburu ngantukan wae, akunya sih wkwk. Selagi nunggu on going si queen aku lsg tancap nonton one day, ini series yg diadaptasi dari film dulu ada ini yg main anna hathaway sama jim sturgess.. Visualnya pasangan ini beuuhh fav aku keduanya teeh.. Tp aku lupa pernah nonton ngga yah duh!
Kami biasa bertukar cerita kalo nonton film/seriesnya masing2.. Krn kdg kita jg punya selera masing2 dong yaa hehehe.
Masih kebanyang nyeseknya, baru namatin kemarin. Dikebut da penasaran.. Haaa mana nanti si queen if tears keknya memasuki fase makjang2nya lg, cinta2an unyu2annya udin dulu yaa logikanya aja judulnya ada tears2nya menurut ngana gmn?? Ihhh sebel auk aahhh. Sabtu minggu msh lama jg sih hemmm

ooooh oo o o im kokichi from danganronpa(ndrv3) so ignore this ask if ur mods arent familiar enough w dr! its on the list but liek. no symbols so idk. thought id send anyways
if poss id like a sorta 80s-90s music playlist, but newer music is super cool lawl some of my fav bands r wham, the cure, strawberry switchblade + im specifically looking for songs similar to 2 late by the cure and stars by simply red (๑'ᴗ')ゞ i have a pretty wide music taste so dont worry ab being accurate to source or whatevs this just seems like fuuunnn :3:3 yaaasss
Yep, yep!! The symbols are to show what sources each mod is familiar with, so it will likely be done by that mod, and they will likely get done faster since they are more aware of that source. The sourcelist is for sources compiled by all the mods, so if they are on there but without an emote next to it, its likely due to another mod who hasnt been very active and/or added their symbols is the original one who added the source.
We wont be removing any of them since the mods are still part of the blog, but it can make it more difficult when none of the active mods are familiar with it.
Thankfully, my partner was into Dangonronpa and compiled a few videos/posts to help familiarize me with the characters! Hope you enjoy :D - Mod Faolán
[Spotify] [YouTube]

6. Freedom - Simply Red
7. Paralysed - Ride
