Storm Hawks Characters as World of Warcraft Races and Classes
Disclaimer: I have tried to match them up to the best of my abilities with the playable races and classes WoW has so far. I also tried to keep them aligned with the Alliance/Horde faction with the Alliance being Sky Knights and Horde being Cyclonia. There are probably races and/or classes that would fit the characters better. That being said, this is just for fun and I hope you appreciate it.
Storm Hawks
Aerrow: Human Rogue Piper: Night Elf Mage Finn: Human (or Worgen) Hunter Junko: Draenai Monk Stork: Mechagnome Rogue Radarr: Hunter Pet
Cyclonians
Dark Ace: Undead Death Knight (Was once a warrior) Cyclonis: Undead Warlock Snipe: Orc Warrior Ravess: Blood Elf Hunter
Others
Starling: Human Rogue (or Monk) Repton: Drakthyr Evoker Carver: Blood Elf Death Knight (Was once a Paladin) Harrier: Human Paladin Suzi Lu: Worgen Mage Dove: Dwarf Rogue Lynn: Void Elf Monk Lightning Strike: Human Warrior

I remembered suddenly and violently that dragons are the best thing in the entire universe yesterday, so I finally took the plunge into the two immensely popular dragon series I'd yet to check out -- Temeraire by Naomi Novik and McCaffrey's Pern books.
holy cow I love dragons
I love them

fave ships: rhink (obvi)

older ships: back in the day I was feral for Buffy/Spike and I dipped my toe into the drarry ship, also very much loved Rory/Logan in Gilmore Girls (now not so much)
favorite color: pink! (after spending decades being the embarrassing not-like-other-girls girl I now embrace it all)
song stuck in my head: for some reason Girl At Home by Taylor Swift (I don't even like it very much... I love Taylor, just not that particular song)
favorite food: sushi
last tv show/ movie: I watched the second Percy Jackson movie with the kiddo last weekend (it was better than the first one). We've also been watching Doctor Who together which has been awesome!
spicy/sweet/savory? combining any of the two is superior but if I have to choose: sweet
currently reading:
on Kindle: To Catch a Firefly by Emmy Sanders
on the Libby app: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

on audio: The Platonic Rulebook by Saxon James
last thing i googled: super boring but "Wilma" which is the website for the kiddo's homework and school correspondence

Hi!! I hope it's okay to send asks!! First I want to say me and my friends absolutely love your account and I always look forward to your posts!!! Secondly as a fellow Sabellian lover I'd love to hear your takes and opinion on him and where you'd like to see his development in the future! I'm behind on dragonflight but I always love hearing people's takes on him. As someone who is super behind on lore stuff it makes me happy to read up on people's infodumps and absorb all the awesome updates and viewpoints! Thank you so much and I hope you have a really good day and enjoy the rest of your week!!! 💜🥺
this is literally so sweet thank u sm
anyways onto the wow lore. so sabellian was neltharion's lieutenant. neltharion sent sabellian to draenor after the second war to make an alliance with the horde so the black dragonflight could recuperate after the second war away from the other dragonflights.
unfortunately for all of draenor, it was shattered and pulled into the twisting nether by ner'zhul and everyone on it was cut off from azeroth until the dark portal was opened again in burning crusade. sabellian and the black dragons spent the next however many years fighting the gronn in blades edge mountains. because of their isolation him and the dragons that were with him were not corrupted by the old gods like all the black dragons on azeroth. he doesnt come back into the lore until dragonflight

Petitioning for a new WoW specific verb.
Hi! So I keep hearing about this city in WoW that just got obliterated... I think it’s called.. what was it?? “Theramore”??? /sarcasm Yeah I’ve heard the super fucking tragic story that is Theramore and how deeply obliterated it got.. SO. I’m starting a habit of referring to that tragedy every time Blizzard obliterates a beloved character! I encourage others to adopt it too if you enjoy the idea. It’s a funny little bit of Schadenfreude that maybe Blizzard might take notice of and understand what they’ve done. :)   ((REALLY HIGH HOPES I KNOW.)) For example, Yrel! Yrel we get to meet in Draenor. She’s super sweet and works diligently to learn how to cooperate and live with the orcs. Big character development and just awesome.... Only to be brought back as a mindless antagonist serving “The Light” just so the Maghar join the horde. Completely Theramored her and all she learned. And for a more prevalent character... my dearest, most beloved.. Wrathion. Oh sweet bean... He was so genuinely matured in Visions of N’zoth, and he truly did understand. Only to be brought back in Dragonflight with a personality more insufferable than he was in Pandaria. Not only that, but his ambition of leading the flight being taken away from him and given to someone else who really doesn’t deserve it.. hell... never even had the desire to lead in the first place. They ABSOLUTELY theramored him. :(

Between Wrathion and Sabellian... who has your vote? 👀
I've been asked this several times, and been thinking about it. I think part of why it's hard for me to decide is because I think there are some great stories to be told either way.
If Sabellian becomes Aspect, Wrathion would have to find a new purpose in life, or do freelance Earth Warding, so to speak. He'd be free to choose his own path in a way he has never been, which might be a blessing in disguise. Or Sabellian could turn out to be a bad guy and Wrathion would have to lead a coup. Or Sabellian could turn down the position because he realizes that Wrathion is what the flight needs for a fresh start, untouched by corruption. Lots of potential there.
If Wrathion becomes the Aspect, it could be a glorious culmination of all his efforts, a sort of "and he lived happily ever after" destiny...or it could turn into a disaster because he's immature, brash and impulsive. Or it could start out bumpy but we could watch/help him grow into the role. Or Sabellian could lead a coup against him. Or Wrathion could turn down the position because he eventually realizes his own shortcomings and recognizes Sabellian's superior experience. Tons of potential there, too.
Or...Ebyssian could show up and try to make Sabellian and Wrathion stop fighting about it, and everyone is like, "Wow, now there's a level-headed dragon who can smooth over conflicts, is uncorrupted, and has leadership experience. Let's pick him instead." I know a lot of people have suggested this with varying degrees of seriousness, but I actually wouldn't mind if it became canon. It wouldn't mean Wrathion and Sabellian would have to go away and not be in the story anymore; if anything it would free them from obligations and let them get up to different shenanigans.
That's from a writing/storytelling viewpoint.
If I was a black dragon myself, I'd either have been hiding somewhere on Azeroth, trying to evade Blacktalon assassins since Cataclysm, or I'd be arriving with Sabellian from Outland now. In that case, I'd be more inclined to vote for the devil dragon I knew.
If I was deciding as a mortal (i.e. non-dragon) character in Azeroth watching this all unfold, I'd be more apt to side with the guy I've worked alongside for years. I watched him geek out over mogu and mantid artifacts in Pandaria. I accompanied him through the August Celestials' challenges and heard the genuine fear and despair in his voice when he spoke of his apocalyptic visions of the Legion's return. I read the logbook detailing how he saved some of Admiral Taylor's troops from death cultists in the Spires of Arak. I saw him risk life and limb to take down N'Zoth. Yes, he's made mistakes, but so do we all. He means well and he's not afraid to throw himself into the action in pursuit of his goals.
As for game mechanics and purely personal sentiment, of course I'll side with, and do quests for, my precious son on my main character. That doesn't mean the first alt I get to 70 will, though...
Most of all, I love both characters and their stories, and don't like to see fans bashing one to support the other. They both have flaws and strengths, and (barring Old Gods turning puppet masters again) I think they both would be fine Aspects.
I also don't want to set my heart on a particular outcome because that's just setting myself up for disappointment. Even if Blizzard's storytelling seems to be improving with this expansion, their recent track record has made me wary. I love the black dragonflight story so far, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to be awesome, but if it takes a nosedive I won't be utterly shocked. Best to keep my expectations low.
So, uh...short answer? Wrathion.

🍀 - What originally inspired the OC?
Lol! The truth is, I always wanted a hot NE hunter, and now here we are.
I was excited to see all the new survival animations and made Sharpen a survival hunter from the start. He's been a blacksmith since the beginning, and I can finally make awesome weapons he can use now in Dragonflight.
He's been so much fun. His rp hook used to merely be 'shirtless elf', but it's grown so much since then.
Ty for asking!

Hi, I love your fic and I am so amazed (hint: envy ^^) by the popularity it has. You deserve all the praises it got!!! It motivates me to begin writing my own story because I love World of Warcraft lore as much as you! But I am afraid it's a waste of time and I am late for the WoW hype. Do people read fanfictions about Illidan? Is he a loved character?
Hello! Firstly let me say thank you for your kind words about my fic, and how awesome it is that it's motivated you to start a story of your own! I certainly don't think it's too late or a waste of time to get into Warcraft as a fandom, especially with Dragonflight having been a recent and thus far pretty successful expansion release. Now, Warcraft is not the largest fandom out there - we're not a behemoth like Star Wars, or the MCU - so you can't expect that you're going to get similar levels of engagement as you will in fandoms of that size. What Warcraft does have, however, is longevity: World of Warcraft will celebrate its 20th birthday next year, while the Warcraft franchise as a whole with celebrate its 30th (Warcraft: Orcs and Humans was released in 1994). Hype in a fandom that's as old as Warcraft will always have its ups and downs, but there's a wealth of lore and characters and events to write about, and you could spend a lifetime trying to explore the lore in its entirety. The Warcraft fandom is also filled with wonderful and creative people. Because of the nature of an MMORPG game, people tend to invest very heavily in their characters and in the world, and in my experience it's one of the most imaginative fandoms out there. With regards to Illidan specifically, he's definitely up there as one of the more popular and well-known characters in the fandom. He was originally introduced in the Warcraft RTS games, so he's been around for a long time, and he has a lot of potential for narrative exploration with his antihero persona and complex familial relationships. He's perhaps not quite as much of a popular character at the moment because he doesn't play a major role in the current story of Dragonflight (at least so far, who knows where things will end up), but he's otherwise one of the most iconic characters in the franchise. All that said, I would always encourage people to write for the characters that they love, regardless of whether or not that character is popular more broadly. If Illidan is the character that interests you and inspires you, that's the only thing that matters. Best of luck!

I will be bluntly honest and admit I was MEH about the release of the Dragonflight expansion for World of Warcraft.  As someone who was NOT AT ALL HAPPY WHATSOEVER about being railroaded into a frikkin WAR CRIME hordeside during the start of Battle for Azeroth, and the...omg, we’ve gone to the land of the dead, we’ve jumped the shark tank surely...of Shadowlands...I was not expeding to genuinely like Dragonflight.
...Well.  While I am still reserving judgment for the expansion as a whole, I will admit to some absolutely awesome things in a MAJOR GAME FRANCHISE that I never thought i’d see.
Openly acknowledged non-heterosexual relationships.  All over the place.  Being gay, being bi, being lesbian, doesn’t matter.
A charater in a quest chain being referred to as “their“ (they/them pronoun) as well as by “she”.  Which is an indication of genderfluidity...and is the closest I’ve ever seen my gender status/identity ever being acknowledged in, again, a Major Game Franchise.
And some of the Storytelling is up there with Legion, too, in certain areas...and that’s the highest praise I can give.  Legion as an expansion made me feel like the world of Azeroth was coming to an end if we didn’t Do Something About It.  Genuine high praise from a published author.
