Got a double feature for you all today (sort of). Same song but before and after Ves learned a bit about mixing/producing. The lyrics are from the variant version that's below the cut.
A moonlit lit road under tyres, under pedal, under foot
A path beyond the reach of setting suns and hopeful legions
The wind is cold enough to pull you from your handle bars and
The day is long enough to turn you into stone
But I will not leave you alone
And if you died here, I would carry you home
With every false tone of sympathy that knocks you over
You lose a small part of dignity that keeps you alive
Tell the walls of your bedroom that you're tired of
The way life unfolds for everybody else
Everyone thinks they know you, but all they know is the flag you stand beneath
Everyone thinks they hold a judgement on the edge of your defeat
Nobody cares enough to walk the other way
Everyone's blind enough to leave an empty space
But I will not leave you alone
And if you died here I would carry you home
You see that fate is kind to all who have the will to conquer
Yet fate is kinder still to those who don't deserve it at all
But there's no jealousy within you, you're a passenger
Left behind again, embittered and alone
You talk yourself between the truth and what your head wants you to see
You're inside out within a text box on this old computer screen
Keep determination burning in your heart
Keep on pedalling until you fall apart
And I will not leave you alone
And if you died here I would carry you home
No screenshots this time, but the suposed descriptions for the original and VIP versions are below:
This song was recorded with my new condenser microphone, though it’s still mixed very badly. It is devoted to someone who’s sheer persistence against the difficulties in life is a phenomenon itself.
I'm trying to get better at producing, bearing in mind this is all done myself. This took me about six straight hours, but it seems that when it comes to producing music, the best way to learn is by trial and error. It's still not brilliant, but I thought I would show you anyway. I hope you enjoy it.
Super interesting to hear the changes between the two. This man is way too talented for his own good. The original was uploaded in December 2011, and the variant was uploaded in May 2012.
Caught a Faye Webster show recently and had a lovely evening. I really enjoy her music especially the tasteful incorporation of jazzy elements with more electronic aspects. It's so endearing! Her music is poignant and lonesome when it wants to be, silly when it wants to be. But always, always, unapologetic in its expression. I had so much fun!!
"You! Hey, yes you!"
"Why aren't you dancing and jumping up and down with glee? Allow yourself some darn whimsy- wiggle your hands, go tippy tappy with your ankles, hum something, anything! You should never be ashamed of how you express joy, no matter how 'cringe' people make you think you are."
"So c'mon! I've got a new solo I wanna test out on this awesome swing piece I've been working on, so vibe and jive~! Now a-one and a-two and a five six seven eight!"
tomorrow is my first for real for real guitar lesson with the person who will now be my one-on-one instructor going forward (the other guy will be my instructor for the group practices)
ive been working on the short scale the first dude gave me and im able to play it without looking at my pick hand! not perfectly every time but jus about. i practiced it at my friend's place (the artist) and he said i'd probably be better than him soon since i was able to play the notes cleanly
what im saying is this time next year, imma be a fucking menace to my neighbors
hypmic’s fun because you have lyrical phrases that obviously do reference between characters like dice and otome’s ‘do or die’ or the ‘beef’ between rei and ichijiku lmao and does serve some purpose!!!
and then you have stuff like dice rapping about ‘hell or heaven’ in his first solo and rei and kuukou both with a ‘kick and snare’ verse and wonder if that’s supposed to be anything lmao
