kind of obsessed w the way this thang has aged. tbh

i made it like. almost eleven years ago? and like, some of the aged look was part of the original, but the cracks definitely developed over time. the big one going across the middle is bc i accidentally broke it in half at one point & had to glue it back together lmao

also its hard to tell in the photo but the mouth is slightly 3d!! iirc it was a base layer of cardboard with only the eyes cut out, a second layer with the eyes and mouth cut out, and individual teeth made of thinner cardboard, and then a thin layer of paperclay over the whole thing for texture. painted with acrylics & sealed with mod podge bc it was all i had on hand (which is probably why it aged like it did)

looking back even on old infomercials from the 90s and 2000s it is literally incredible that any of us got out alive. they did not want you to eat. they hated the idea of you eating. and now it's involved into coded language to make you sound crazy if you say "fuck you I'm going to eat". nobody said anything about dieting, they were talking about eating clean and being healthy and not letting companies poison you. but back then they really did just get on TV and tell you that you were a fucking hideous slob if you [checks notes] ate egg yolks.
