I love your artwork so much! Your colors are so vibrant and none of the white speckles in the paper ever shows, its so impressive and I really dig it! I was wondering if you use any sort of blending medium? Like baby oil or anything? Either way, I really enjoy looking at your artwork and I'm always excited to see whatever you'll make next
I use a colorless blender (prismacolor, which is wax-based so baby oil probably wouldnt work) but my scanner is also rly bad about picking up white specks in a way photographing the art with my phone isnt, so I usually have to do some digital editing to get rid of them as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do this by duplicating the layer, setting the one on top to "darken," and using the mixer brush to blend out the white spots + just use the eyedropper tool to select the color of that area (needs to be a slightly lighter shade of it) and color over the white spots with the brush tool
Tumblr media
i edited a small bit of the original scan to show what i mean
original:
Tumblr media
with the edited layer:
Tumblr media
heres how it looks set to normal instead of darken, I used both the mixing brush and regular brush just to demo it

Hey, I finally finished the AU Mettaton Tarot Deck.
And it only took me seven years!
Okay, it was technically not seven years, but time on-and-off, sometimes years apart, such that it is now seven years since I started.
But I am done. Here's a quick photo preview of the last of the cards, the Minor Arcana Pip Cards. (If you're looking for the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana Court Cards, you can check them out here).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I did end up using some more current/ongoing AUs (and one DeltaRune reference), but since project did span seven years, a good chunk of the AU Mettatons in there are old and came from works that are discontinued/deleted, such that they can't be found except though some serious extensive internet searching.
Which makes it a bit of a precarious situation on whether or not it would be (dis)respectful if I tagged the creator or not (especially when I have no clue if they no longer wish to be associated with the AU anymore). I'll figure out how to tackle that issue when I can get my computer+scanner setup less janky and able to scan the last of the cards in at high resolution.
Kind of like the official UnderTale Tarot deck has duplicates for certain cards, I'm tempted to duplicate some of the ones I know are bona-fide deleted, but then that would end up in a loophole of having to constantly replace cards over since AUs don't always last forever.
But something just tells me to enjoy* the cards as-is and keep it as a slice of AU Mettaton history.
*(by "enjoy" I mean... maybe... possibly set up a side blog do silly/unhelpful readings for UnderTale AU characters who drop an ask?) ( ˙▿˙ )

I hope someone steals you art with ai and doesn't credit you for it
It's hard to steal something that I'm giving away, and it's nearly infinitely easier to just right click on the image so you've got a clean copy instead of attempting to duplicate it through prompt generation. Feel free. I'd love to see what you do with it. You're absolutely 100% clear to use any of my art for any purpose as long as you're willing to let people use the results of that creation in the same way. @ms-demeanor-art-blog is where i keep most things so you won't have to scroll forever - I think the moving eyes illustration is probably the coolest thing I've drawn in a while and it would be really cool to see remixed and shared but i'm not gonna lie, it would be very funny if someone used AI to claim credit for my Venom/Eddie pornographic miniature dollhouse.
If you want a clean scan of any of my zines to distribute please let me know - i've made some of them printable but a lot of them were made since I lost access to my scanner so they just got uploaded as photos.
While you're at it, please feel free to "steal" the de-googling pamphlet, the death book, and the college-level guide to writing an essay in my pinned post. Gosh it would be just horrible if somebody widely disseminated those things without my name on them and gave free copies to everyone they knew and took credit for it. And I don't know what I'd do if people started pretending that they'd come up with my gluten-free recipes while baking them for friends.
Please for real though i actually do want as many people as possible to see the death book and i do not give half a shit if i get credit for it, if you want to strip out all of the formatting and find that last "fuck" that i forgot to delete and remove it and just print it out as a word document to give to your grandma and you tell her that you made it for her I do not care please just talk to your loved ones about end of life planning.

Hi! I was wondering if you have any experience scanning books? I have several manga art books that have yet to be scanned by anyone and uploaded online and so I'd love to do it, but I'm really worried about damaging the books' spines. I was wondering if you have any tips?
Hi, I post quite a few art book scans on here so I definitely understand where you're coming from. While it is feasible to scan without damaging the spine too badly, realistically you will always end up inflicting some stress to it when scanning. Whether this ends up being enough to really damage or split the spine will really depend on the pressure involved and the condition of the spine.
I think QuicksandScans has a solid guide to scanning books and I tend to agree with them that debinding a book (and thus destroying it) is the only way to avoid any form of gutter shadow or page warp. However, this is only an option you can really choose if you have a duplicate copy of a book for the explicit purpose of debinding imho.
In most cases I don't have a duplicate copy so I tend to compromise and only scan the images that won't completely destroy a book if I apply heavy pressure to it. There are also scanning rig options where people essentially use their phones or other devices to scan via a makeshift rig so that a book can be open but not under pressure while being scanned (thus minimising damage), but I haven't got the space to try this myself so can't vouch for how effective it is in terms of preserving quality.
At the end of the day all scanning does have this inherent risk to it in that we could end up damaging our physical items in an attempt to preserve their content. I tend not to take that risk if I feel an item is too fragile, but as you get more confident with your scanning I think you'll come to know your scanner and your items well enough to know when you're pushing their limits.
Good luck, I hope you can scan your books in a way that works for you <3

CDK: Security Set
Tumblr media
Published: 9-14-2024 | Updated: N/A SUMMARY Cubic Dynamics by John B. Cube and Marcel Dusims forged the future with furnishings that were minimalist in design and maximalist in erudite pretension. Generations later, the company continues to produce edge-of-cutting-edge designs. Use the Cubic Dynamics Kitbash (Simmons, 2023-2024) collection to set up corporate, exposition, and office environments. Envisioned as an add-on to the Cubic Dynamics set (EA/Maxis, archived at GOS), it features minimalist and retro-futuristic objects. Find more CC on this site under the #co2cdkseries tag. Read the Backstory and ‘Dev Notes’ HERE. Use this  SECURITY SET to build screening checkpoints on lots where you keep precious goods, important sims, and big piles of money!

DETAILS All EPs/SPs. §See Catalog for Pricing | See Buy/Build Mode You need the Company Expo (Mesh Pack) set (Simmons, 2024) for TXTRs to show properly in game. ALL files with “MESH” in their name are REQUIRED. You also need Midge’s Custom Burglar Alarms Mod (2020) for the UAV Cam to work. Several objects in this series are oversized/offset. You may need to shift an objects upwards once to level it, and you may need “move objects” and “grid on/off” cheats to place them to your liking. When placing partitions/floating shelves and tables/desks/counters on the same tile, place the partition/shelves first. I recommend using this set with Object Freedom 1.02 (Fway, 2023), which includes Numenor’s fix for OFB shelves (2006), for easier use overall. Kenley! 😁
“It’s perfectly fine,” Cassie agrees, narrowing her eyes at the League. Well, not Diana. But everybody else, pretty much. “We’ve got it handled. Again, this was a courtesy call.”
“The tech’s capabilities are somewhat concerning,” Tim redirects smoothly, wondering why he’s the diplomat in this group right now. Well–okay, it’s obvious why he’s the diplomat in this group right now, because he’s the one who’s disassociating from his feelings about the situation the most effectively right now. And also isn’t Bart. “The DNA scanner manifested as a wide-spread green light that stayed on for an estimated six point five seconds and filled up the immediate area. In that time it was capable of clocking all of our DNA, including Impulse’s, despite the fact he was actively moving in excess of 100 mph. The scan also appears to have successfully duplicated Wonder Girl’s powers, despite the fact that those obviously originated in godly magic more than her DNA.”
“Well, yeah,” Bart says, wrinkling his nose. “They’re her powers. Why wouldn’t her kid have them?”
Cassie looks briefly stressed, then attempts to smile. At least she’s having . . . well, a reaction more in-line with his own, Tim thinks.
At least a little more, anyway.

Heads up for anyone shopping at walmart.
The tl;dr is that walmart has started embedding codes that are “invisible to the human eye” on product packaging (specifically their store brands), which makes it easier be detected at self-checkout machines.
To make it harder for people to pretend to scan things, though they're also framing it as making it easier and quicker to scan because you don't have to hunt for the barcode.
Tbh it sounds like it's going to be a hassle, I can see this making things scan multiple times a LOT if you're not particularly fast at sliding things across the scanner, which will lead to longer waits as you have to wait for their one overworked attendant to come over and punch in a release code and remove the duplicate items.
Sorry for the obscure source, there were others, but the links refused to format right on tumblr. You can search the headline to find them, but they're basically all exactly the same.

@doodled-chai asked how I went from pencil -> digital for that last illustration. It's very simple really.
Scanned it in the library:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If you don't have a scanner you can also play around with brightness/contrast/levels and dodge/burn until the white looks as white as you can get it and the dark as dark as you can get it.
Convert luminance to opacity (note I use Paint Tool SAI but you can do this in pretty much any drawing program):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now the lines have a clear background, so you can just go from here.
I duplicated the layer and merged it to give it more opacity.
Then to get the red in the sketch lines back, I added the original scan on top as a clipping layer and messed with the brightness and contrast until it looked good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here's my color sketch, using the lineart as an overlay layer:

HIIIHIHI! I've been a fan of you and your art for a while now, and I've always had the question, how do you create/exaggerate some of the really defined textures that always show through so good digitally? are they made through the drawing process or added in after with like an overlay kinda thing? tysm for your time!
love your stuff! battle nurse 4ever! - fyn (from twt... i deleted it 💔)
Thank you sm!!!! Some of the papery + splatter textures on my recent stuff is bc it’s traditional, then edited in post digitally 2 make it pop more (bc I don’t have a scanner 💔) my fav layering modes r overlay and burn -> then duplicate 2 ur hearts content
on my more obviously digital looking stuff if its got a texture same thing as this ^^^ photo textures overlayed :)

Hi. Sorry to bother you, and thank you for all the amazing cc, sorry for spaming you with likes. I feel really dumb because I don't know why or how, but my game has a problem with (most of) your cc and this roof by C&K: https://crispsandkerosene.tumblr.com/post/87921581132/ts3store-century-manor-roof-stuff-for-ts2
It crashes when I click on these roof pieces in game, they work if I remove your cc and I've been using them for years.
I've checked GUIDs, they are not the same but some are similar. I'm sure it's something only with my game, as I have way too much cc. I don't expect you to fix it or anything. But just out of curiosity, could you download that set and click on it in your game, to see if it crashes for you too or to confirm that it's just me. Only when you have the time! And if not, that's okay too, feel free to ignore this message. Take care!
Hey suratan-zir, you're not bothering me at all, I'm happy if I can contribute to straighten things out. And you can spam me with likes as much as you like. 😁
Unfortunately, I think I cannot help you in this specific case. I put the century-manor-roof pieces into my download folder and ran everything through SimPE's GUID scanner. There were no duplicates, meaning there is no GUID conflict either. Besides, a GUID conflict wouldn't normally crash the game, it would only prevent an object from appearing in the game. Things that have been crashing my game in the past mostly had to do with the CRES, GMND or BHAV.
After checking the GUIDs, I booted the game, visited a lot in Belladonna Cove and went to the architecture category. I clicked on all the roof pieces and neither of them crashed my game.
Tumblr media
After closing the game again, I opened some of the roof piece files and (at first glance) couldn't detect anything that could somehow conflict with any of my files. So I really don't know why my CC is causing you trouble. As far as I can remember, I've never cloned anything from the architecture menu until now, the only overlapping "data" would be the windows.
I'll post your ask for everyone to see, so if anybody reading this has any other idea for me to check or test, please step forward. Thank you in advance!

sorry if u already answered this question, but how do you scan your art? like via phone or a printer or smth else? It looks so good!🙏
I usually scan with a flatbed scanner in 400dpi, as I found it gave me the nicest quality without being too large, but 300dpi is also fine.
The secret to getting good scan quality is Know Thy Printer. Every scanner has its unique traits you want to compensate for, be it low contrast, over saturating, or washing out colours. My great art hack is adjusting for this post scan! I found duplicating and multiplying the layer (fading opacity based on need) helped fix a *lot* of issues with the ink scanning ‘washed out’.

I spent 6 grueling hours researching how to protect one's photos/scans so you wouldn't have to--And these are my findings:
As the title states, I spent 6 grueling hours researching how to protect one's photos/scans in case other collectors want to protect and/or receive credit for their photos.
Once more let me emphasize THEIR PHOTOS.
Backstory:
It's not a secret that I'm quite a big collector of official Spy x Family merchandise, specifically clear file folders, stationery, and acrylic stands. I own so much, in fact, I have a tendency to own a handful of duplicates and had the crazy idea to start a small business selling these duplicates via Ko-Fi. A thought came to me that since I had already invested in a light box and a scanner for selling my merch, why not also use them to share pictures of my collection for other fans to view and appreciate?
And that was when I had sought the opinions from my good friend, @yumeka-sxf. Yumeka has been kindly posting high-resolution scans of her SxF merch (clear files, pages, etc.) on Tumblr. She is someone I also deemed as an expert when it came to uploading merch on the internet. She gave me incredible advice with awesome foresight when it came to watermarking high-resolution pictures and scans. She easily predicted what disrespectful people would do if I hadn't moved my watermarks to certain (albeit not really appealing) spots. And, just like she said, someone did attempt to remove my watermark using AI. You can read about it here. @yumeka-sxf also provided her own insight to watermarking merch here--if ya'll are interested to read.
I won't go into too much detail, but essentially they're long posts meant to educate people on why fans, who own the official merch, put watermarks on their pictures. The bottom line is, we're claiming the picture for ownership, NOT the merch.
Second, did you know that people have found ways to remove watermarks?
Tumblr media
That gives me enough incentive as to why I want to take it a step further to protect my photos/scans.
"If I take a picture of something do I own the picture that I took?":
Yes and no. Yes as in, the picture is yours. No, because depending on your subject, it falls under numerous jurisdictions of copyright. You can find all the details in this insightful post from veteran photographers.
But since we're focusing on the topic of photos and scans of merchandise, I'd like to provide these screenshots:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so, to re-iterate, the only thing you'll get out of copyrighting your photo is just the right to the photo--which is all I want.
The Findings:
6 grueling hours of research for protecting one's picture led me to several insightful directions--one of them amusingly brought me down a rabbit hole of how to protect one's real estate pictures. They did have some wonderful tips if you guys would like to read them!
Unfortunately, I do not own Photoshop so I could not make any edits on the metadata or create a layer that will prevent downloading the content of the picture. Preventing screenshots/right-clicking is limited to control on a website and/or can easily be canceled by plug-ins. So that just leaves me with finding something creative solutions the only tool I have: Canva (more on this later).
I spent some more time reading more journals and visited USCO (United States Copyright Office) and, finally, Pixsy.
I'm gonna be honest, USCO is THE BEST way to protect your media (merchandise, art, etc.) IF you have the money to support it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not only do I not have the funding for this type of service, but my photos don't exactly meet "originality" especially when the subject of the photo is copyright-protected merchandise, which means there are severe punishments for those who pursue any commercial purposes (such as selling my photos to make money rather than directing people to purchase the official work from the licensing site). And at the end of the day, I just care about the photo, itself, and receiving credit and source.
It's ridiculously simple to just credit and source a picture, and yet, it'll surprise you how many people just can't do that. This is why, I must take these extra precautions to ensure credit and sourcing.
So, I opted for Pixsy for its free plan that includes 500 images being monitored.
Tumblr media
There's no doubt that I'll most likely invest in a monthly subscription if ever I amass beyond 500 pictures for monitoring.
Currently, it has already done an impressive job of identifying pictures I've posted with my watermarks on Ko-Fi, Twitter, and Tumblr. It has even identified reblogs/retweets.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For some odd reason, it uploads my pictures horizontally when it's normally vertical ^^; but it still gets the job done. Interestingly, it hasn't picked up my pictures from Mercari yet. I assume that if I were to upgrade to the subscription plan, Pixsy might be able to find it by then.
Procedures:
I'm sharing my procedures for protecting one's photo (and content, if applicable of course).
Step 1: Register on Pixsy. As I've addressed earlier, it's free.
Step 2: Upload HIGH-RESOLUTION pictures (no watermark) to Pixsy's database. This is probably the most accurate way for Pixsy to identify pictures of the same (or similar) "blueprint". In the picture below, I provided a screenshot of my picture without the watermark (left) with a picture they found of my picture with my watermark on it from my ko-fi shop (right).
Tumblr media
Step 3: If you plan to upload a photo/scan with or without watermark, it is recommended to upload your image at 550 pixel image and at 72 dpi. This makes it good for the internet (see first image below). But once you zoom in, you can tell the difference in quality (see second image below).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mentioned before that I don't have photoshop, so I experimented with what I do have: Canva.
Since I have a premium membership (indicated by crown icons), I just use the following settings:
Tumblr media
and it gets the job done.
I am planning to upload my photos without watermarks to the Spy x Family wiki quite soon, so I did all this research to prepare for possible theft and/or the lack of crediting and sourcing--just in case. A friend of mine told me that s/he can try to ensure crediting through the file name, which is a ridiculously kind gesture, but I'm not ignorant of people who change/completely ignore file names. That's unfortunately just the way it is on the internet.
Tumblr media
Hopefully, I've curated enough research to help protect photos/scans from possible theft (if reposting is not allowed by the owner).
I don't mind if my photos are used for reference AS LONG AS they credit me and link the source directly to the image itself (not one of those cut-corner kind of way and just link my Ko-Fi gallery). I won't tolerate laziness when it comes to sourcing considering I invested a lot of money to purchase merch and invested hours--even days--to get the best photo/scan + researched information on the merch for public access.

So a couple weeks ago, I got distracted from my assorted historic sims 2 hoods projects in favor of my Just Play the Game downloads folder, a collection of stuff I accumulated over time without fancy aging systems and traits and the like. Just classic mode with lots of CC. I got excited and downloaded a good handful of new sets and installed them.
Now my game keeps crashing utterly at random—sometimes shortly after starting to play a lot (as in a few game hours), sometimes a few (game) days in. One time it ALWAYS crashed when I took Morty Roth to a community lot to fish. So now I’m forced to do a lot of the clean-up work this downloads folder is supposed to avoid requiring.
-I keep running various scanners (DDO, SimPe GUID check, Clean Installer, Hood Checker, HCDU+), and nothing leaps out as a problem, particularly not anything newly added. I am constantly removing duplicate items, but it doesn’t seem to make much difference.
-I’m hesitant to run a 50/50 check because the crashing is very random. Sometimes I play a household for a full season and it’s fine, other times it crashes for no discernible reason. I have deleted a lot of objects so I doubt it’s my object mesh limit. It happens during gameplay, not in the catalog so it’s probably not a GUID conflict of some sort, although I could be wrong. I don’t THINK it’s all the new modern sets I downloaded, because that’s all furniture and a couple outfits—nothing mod or hack-y. I did download the LS bundle and some patches for it.
-My gut insists it’s a townie with bad CC trying to walk by, but I don’t have the faintest idea how to test for that or fix it. Maybe I could do a test lot and teleport in each townie looking for a crash, but if that works how do I find what item on them caused the crash?
-I did just discover and remove an unwanted default replacement amongst some X-Men characters I installed in this game—the last batch of CC I installed before this batch. So it might just be that, whatever it was? I don’t know yet. The only test is to try playing again, and I have to wait until after work tomorrow for that.
-the log always just gives me “access violation”. I did double check that the 4gb patch is still applied, and I believe it is, and I checked that the texture memory looked okay in GRM. It seems more like a CC problem than a game/hardware problem, although it COULD be the game running out of memory. Seems unlikely as I am not getting pink flashing, just the crash, but it could be.
-one thing I did in the cleaning process that could have been problematic was delete my Sun&Moon collection, deeming it Not Right for this particular setup. I don’t think I had touched it in this game.
-Now I am having the urge to start a new, clean Uberhood with all my nice new CC, except the one I started setting up has the same old copy of my main modern downloads folder, so it’s likely to be experiencing the same problems. Unless it truly is the X-Men content that’s the problem lol.
(I want to have Simlogical schools in districts, limit careers based on local buildings, use supernatural lifestates and 1 day = 1 year aging, follow most of the premade relationships instead of wasting time hunting for the perfect match for everybody, include the downtownie Tricou teens, and mix up the method for choosing a college—base it on expense rather than location as I have been doing).
But I would also very much like for my Just Play downloads folder to be ready to just play again and complete a round. I’ve had bad luck with Uber/megahoods even though I love them, I would like to get one off the ground. My last new one used Proportionate Aging and also featured a bugged taxi driver showing up as a walkby and forcing the game to speed 1 until I teleported him away, something that is probably fixable but not with my limited abilities. I just want to play the game.

It's magical now chatter anon, we shall conquer this blog along with the blog creator about Sam Witwicky!!
What If.........Minibot!Sam can transform his body to shape like others...like he could scan (through his optics) and magic boom!! His body (or limbs) become the thing he scanned!!
Like that bot could scan Ironhides canons and give himself lil ironhide canons or ratchets scanners.....
Probably could duplicate a data-pad atp without realising it...mmmm data's that totally does not go against jazz when said bot tried to give him money for..something.
Omg Minobot!sam scanning oc!sam arm (tbh bros arm is different because she's different species..now) and got himself a magical arm..somehow
Because I know sam does not want to be held against whatever jazz did (and to be blamed on by said bot)! :3
Apparently this is about minibot!Sam being allowed to transform into ANYTHING because of the allspark!!
-Sam/🏍 anon
Already mad for power 📝✍️
Sam me transforming is an interesting thing. I for one think he’d struggle, mind over matter and his mind struggles enough recognising it’s an entirely different thing now.
But transformers are mechanically adaptable as humans naturally are. And him being flexible and changing what he is transforming into even accidentally is a neat idea to reference the human qualities.
I think if he does transform unlike other bots who can maintain communication between either form he wouldn’t be able to. I already think he has to manually learn how to do short and long ranged internal communication but when he becomes something else the power of mind over matter is so overwhelming strong he thinks he can’t communicate as data pad, or a baton. And often panics and becomes stuck in forms and bots and humans are stuck trying to determine if it’s Sam or malfunctioning equipment.
He dreads if one day he accidentally transforms into a cube. The allspark. If it’s even possible to. Becoming stuck in that form and has nightmares about the cybertronians becoming swept up once again at having the cube and it’s potential power they forget it’s Sam inside

The journey to these images is long and circuitous. I painted the original watercolors decades ago in the late 80s. In the early 90s I took pictures of them with color slide film. in the late 90s early 2000's I used a slide scanner to scan them into BMP format digital images. Later I reformatted them as JPEGs. At the beginning of 2023 I reformatted them again as standard size squares with a color border that is purple at the corners and transitioning to a pale yellow at the midpoint of each side. After that I started playing with them, duplications, mirror images, shape changes, 3-D rotations etc. all in PowerPoint to make fracturing patterns of various sorts. Most recently I have been taking the 'original' squares from early 2023 and layering them using the transparency function and abstracting them using the rotation function. I have also played with sharpness, hue, and texture using the various photo manipulation tools in PowerPoint. There is no particular purpose to these activities and engagements other than that I enjoy making them. I have also made patterns with images from nature that I have taken pictures of with my phone during morning walks. For the most part my work all resides on DeviantArt: https://www.deviantart.com/krm4069 If you happen to go there, you will come across many things.
