Tumblr media
(CREDITS TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS GIF)
A/N’s NOTE: Dedicated to @bookishcatto. And finally, hello Soo! Sorry 'cause this is short again. This story is unfortunately rushed and have like, almost zero editing in it. That's right, publishing it w/o second looking, that's me.
Genre: Fluff, husband!Kyungsoo AU
Ratings and Warnings: None but be safe in your own houses okay?
Characters: Doh Kyungsoo X Fem!Reader
Word Count: 817
Date of Publication: 16-11-2021
Slumped shoulders and heavy legs have finally reached the rug that was splayed before the door of the apartment like someone had carried a heavy sack of flour. A soft sigh escaped her lips as she inserted the key before twisting the knob, with the darkness welcoming her like it had become a part of her place.
She hadn’t realized how much time had passed until it was already midnight when she got home. Endless paper works from the publication she worked at plus teaching at her alma mater, things have escalated too quickly like the blurry lights that passed on the ride home. Worse, she had been drenched in the rain as if it was adding more to her misery. She’d thought to herself that if she ever came home, she would immediately take a shower and knock herself out like a body floating at sea. Sleep was more important to her than anything her rational mind would think of.
What she didn’t come across at the flick of the lights in her flat was the eruption of something cooking followed by metal clanging as if someone was doing heavy metalwork so late into the night.
But instead of quickly hurrying to where the source was, hesitance crept up to her followed by a chill down her spine. Who the hell has broken down her place? She went on to grab the nearest weapon she could find, which was a crowbar and tiptoed her way towards her kitchen. As she held the crowbar in her left hand, she readied her phone on her right, in case she had to contact authorities.
As soon as she swerved towards her kitchen, she was met with the culprit, her hands ready to swing the crowbar, but the intruder was faster like the outcome was predicted.
“Whoa!”
At the sound of the voice, she stopped, her arms in midair as if she was arrested. Stood before her and holding a pot, was her husband. His eyes widened through his rimless glasses as he stared at her with a look that could probably kill anyone. He stood his ground as he managed to balance the smoldering pot between his oven gloves.
“Kyungsoo?” she gasped. She dropped the crowbar as she held his face to her hands. “I’m so sorry, honey. Also, I thought you weren’t coming back until next week from the tour?”
Kyungsoo’s gaze softened as he turned his face towards one of her hands and kissed it. “I am, but I wanted to go home earlier and surprise you.”
“Surprise?” she raised an eyebrow. “What for?”
They both stared at each other, with her frowning more and more. Kyungsoo playfully rolled his eyes as he chuckled while putting down the pot. After doing so, he gently tugged at his wife’s hand, pulling her into his arms and embracing her with all the warmth that he have. The two of them stayed like that for a while until Kyungsoo cradled her head and slowly bent his head down to press his lips against hers.
“It seems like you’re tired, baby,” Kyungsoo kissed the top of her head. “But happy birthday.”
Her eyes widened. She hadn’t realized another number was added to her life. Much more, her husband was by her side and was always there to remind her and celebrate with her.
"Oh my God," she bit her lip. "I can't believe I forgot my birthday."
Kyungsoo laughed, which was a melody to her ears. “That’s fine. We’re all tired. At this time, I want you to just sit right there as I make your favorite dish, okay? Let me cook your birthday gift.” He pecked her lips one more time before starting the process of making Pasta Carbonara, knowing how much she loves it when he cooks her favorite.
This was heartwarming to her; while she does know how to cook, Kyungsoo however, makes it better. She would wonder sometimes how he makes every food he makes full of love and home. Was it his hands, how they delicately maneuver each ingredient with ease and turn them into something magical? She still had to figure this workhorse of her husband and how his recipes paved its way to her heart.
“What are you looking at?”
Her trail of thoughts was snipped by Kyungsoo's gentle voice and watched at his own eyes that were swirling in amusement. She shook her head.
"Nothing," she placed her chin in her hands. "Just…thinking how your cooking always makes everything better."
Kyungsoo snorted. “You’re biased.”
“But it’s true!” she giggled. “It’s like you’ve enticed me with it as like how you attract your fans with your voice.”
A hoot of laughter came out of him before proceeding to come over her and placed his lips on hers. “Again, you’re biased. Now just shut up and sit tight. I love you and happy birthday again.”

EXO D.O.: Dish of love
Characters: U x Ksoo   Genre: Chef Ksoo, cooking competition, fluff Description:  You met ksoo at a cooking competition, falling hard and fast for him. But will the both of you end up tgt?
“Kyungsoo, the leek and onion also needs to go in right?”
You sat across the kitchen counter looking at Kyungsoo — pan in one hand, ready to start the stove… with his (definitely) semi prepared ingredients.
Turning his head, his little confused frown morphed into a silent exclamation when he saw his unchopped onion and leek.
‘Oh right! I forgot’ and you facepalmed yourself on his behalf.
He got right down to it, chopping the onions as skilful as can be. Someone needs to tell you how to stop getting butterflies over that forearm and skilful hands.
Needless to say, being neighbours doesn’t help your feelings tame themselves either. Not sure if it’s a blessing in disguise or just Cupid fooling around with you.
You and kyungsoo met at an overseas mini cooking contest (which is having the semi finals this week) and happened to be partners for a couple of preliminaries. Although kyungsoo was abit shy at first, you guys hit off incredibly well the moment pans and knives fell into both of your hands.
And as the magic of the universe does it, you ended up being neighbours with him after your previous rental ran into some problems.
He’s quiet, endearingly slow-witted, adorably determined and surprisingly full of hidden manly charms. Just mere 8 weeks together was enough for you to fall hard and fast for him.
The semi final of the cooking contest was this week and you, Kyungsoo, Jinki and Mabel were the only ones left in the game. To sharpen your skills ahead of the semi, kyungsoo and you have volunteered to be lab rats for each other. Friendly rivalry~
‘Ok ok, its done, its done. Try it’
You picked a well flavoured looking chicken piece off the plate and savoured it thoughtfully.
‘Kyungsoo if you’re cooking for a friend this taste fantastic. But for a cooking show… its nothing special’ you commented
‘Ahh.. you’re right. I actually came up with this recipe on my own, so i thought…’ he trailed off with a small little pout that did not manage to escape your sight
‘Actually why don’t you try a creamy version…’ and here goes another night of R&D for the both of you.
————————-
‘And you have 15 minutes left!’
The judges shouted above the clanking of pots and slamming of oven doors.
You’re almost done with your dish, except for the pasta which will be cooked in your special sauce.
You quickly grabbed the strained pasta you left aside, but in a split second they were all spilled over on the ground.
‘Omg, I’m so sorry!’ Mabel exclaimed.
‘Why did you have to run!’ you were frustrated and in absolute panic
‘Now what ..’ you started, but kyungsoo who was using the cooking space behind you both interrupted
‘Y/N just get over it, it’s already spilled. There’s no time for you to be upset’
You glared at kyungsoo, easy for you to say.. But he was right anyway, you clenched you teeth and swallowed your rage. What the heck could you do to replace your pasta? You glanced around a magical drop of inspiration and  noticed mabel herself also prepared pasta. Surely she wouldn’t mind giving you some at this critical juncture?
Mabel caught your eyes and it was as if she heard your thoughts. She reached for her pasta bowl and smiled at you.
Except that she went on to protectively dumped all her sauce over it.
WOW.
Someone needs to tell you more about how to pull the hair out of an evil wench.
In the end kyungsoo offered you his sushi rice which completely didnt go well with the prawns and paste you prepared. And with much anger and disappointment you lost your chance to finals to mabel. Who o-so totally deserves it.
The moment the judges called for a wrap for today. You took off your apron, and threw it on your table right in the face of mabel. The audacity of her to act like she didn’t see it and ran up to kyungsoo straight and ask to have a taste of his dish.
You left the kitchen straight to cool off and Jinki followed you out and offered jokes and comfort so you would at least feel better before going for the semi-finals party.
---------
At the dinner, mabel and kyungsoo sat together, being the stars of the night. You really have nothing against that, only that mabel wasn’t acting quite right ?
You never noticed before, but it does seem pretty obvious now that mabel likes kyungsoo. All the occasional touching and that voice that goes up a few pitches just for him. Wrapping meat for him in lettuce when he didn’t even ask for it.
It was almost absolutely unbearable to be sitting opposite them. Watching that little thief who just took your podium spot about to steal your guy. Can’t she tell that kyungsoo obviously hates the touching?  But oh gawd, maybe kyungsoo does enjoy the feeding.
You dunked down 2 shots and tried to ignore those two.
But the night only got worse. In her tipsy state, mabel very smoothly took the chance to lean herself on kyungsoo. You sucked in a deep breath of annoyance, perhaps sensing you were about to reach your tolerance limit for the day, jinki whispered in your ear to take a breather together outside.
Without hesitation, you drank a whole mouthful from the bottle before getting up. The amount you drank tonight was enough to make you lose your balance just a little as you stood up.
‘Ya ya, y/n. Don’t drink so much if you can’t ’ kyungsoo took the soju bottles in front of you away from across the table and his knee-jerk reaction almost shook the leaning-tower-of-Mabel off her seat.  Jinki caught you and you watch kyungsoo catch mabel, to stop her from falling.
You ignored him and thought to yourself ya stay with mabel the whole night then, traitor. And you went out to sit by the bench outside the restaurant with jinki.
‘Honestly, y/n if you like him so much why don’t you just tell him? I think he likes you too.’
Shocked you looked at jinki ‘i was that obvious about liking him??’
‘No girl, but the two of you have that couple chemistry. You know what i mean? Everyone has been wondering if the both of you are together. Perhaps that’s why mabel decided to make her move since the both of you aren’t really progressing.’
You sighed and jinki laughed at you, putting his arms over your shoulders.
‘Comeon, its not that tough! just do it tonight y/n, if he says he doesnt like you just blame it on the alcohol and pretend you never said it.’
Ok, he has a point. ‘But i dont know how the start , omg.’
‘Simple does it. ‘i-like-you’, give it a try. you can look at me and practice now’
Giggling, you looked at jinki, and put on a straight face ‘ i...like you’, but somehow the situation just felt funny and the both of you started laughing.
‘ah, i dont think i can do it. Anyway i’m gna go home, im tired and not really in the mood to be watching a kdrama inside. Help me tell the rest alright, and thanks for being the best confidant jinki.’
--------
ksoo’s pov
‘ah thank you, you don’t have to wrap it for me’ he gulped down the vegetable wrap and tried to put some space between him and mabel. Mabel’s proximity was making him feel extremely uncomfortable.
is y/n still affected by what happened in the afternoon? she doesn’t seem to be in a great mood.
He wanted to give the meat he was grilling to you, but jinki beat him to do it. Was there something on between the both of you ?
He saw jinki following you out after the competition today. Surely to comfort you.
Only now did he realize he had been stuck with mabel ever since the competition ended. What a friend he was to not give word of concern at all.
He can’t help but noticed that you were drinking alot today, frowning, wanting to tell you to slow down but he just kept hesitating about doing it. what a loser kyungsoo.
While he was trying to adjust mabel’s leaning body on him, he caught, from the corner of his eye, jinki whispering in your ear. He can’t help but turn his head to stare at the both of you.
The next moment you were both up and you lost your balance. Worried for you he took the bottles away from your area ‘ Ya ya, y/n. Don’t drink so much if you can’t’
You gave him such a hateful look it caught him off guard and his eyes travelled to jinki’s hands that were steadying you, on your arm and waist.
he was sure 10 minutes had passed and the both of you were still not back. strangely anxious, he kept looking over at the restaurant door and wondered where the both of you had gone. he couldn’t wait a minute longer and headed out after ignoring her whining asking him to stay.
‘i.. like you’ he heard your voice, and just right in front of him the both of you were seated, back facing him.
he felt his heart drop and immediately turned back into the restaurant. Did he just lose his chance with you? did you really like jinki? was it all in his mind? he thought you liked him too.
all the thought ran through his head at a speed of 200km/h. he had originally wanted to confess to you after the competition, so there wouldnt be distractions or burdens when the both of you face each other as rivals.
he slowly sat back down on the table, and poured a shot for himself.
---------
It was past 12am and the door bell rang, who could it be at this hour?
You opened the door to find kyungsoo standing in front of you.
‘Are you okay? You left early without telling me, just wanted to check in on you’
Though you have sobered up a little you are still in no mood for a decent conversion.
‘Yeh I’m fine’ you relied and stared blankly at him
‘Uhm..’ you knew he was searching for something to say as he reached to scratch the back of his head.
‘Okay then rest well, come over I’ll cook you hangover soup tomorrow’
You shared an awkward moment with him by looking at him and simply giving a nod as a reply, and just as he started walking away
‘Do Kyungsoo’
You opened the door and called out, and he turned on his heels taking a step toward you
You felt a rush of adrenaline as you impulsively wanted to do what you’re about to do next. The power of alcohol pumped through your blood like a charge of courage. And without thinking, you pulled right at his jacket’s zipper, closed your eyes and pressed your lips to his.
It lasted a second or two before you pulled away. Your heart beating fast and you bit on your upper lip. What’s going to happen next ?
Stunned. Kyungsoo fumbled backwards just ever so slightly as you let him go. Eyes wide, staring at you, at the air, whatever. And you figured it’s now or never.
‘I like you’
But his expression remained the same and you couldn’t make out what was he thinking. The both of you stood there for maybe 20seconds maybe a minute but it felt like forever right there and then.
Your heart dropped ever so slightly as the adrenaline faded at the moment of uncertainty
‘Whatever Kyungsoo’ you reached to close the door
‘Wait’ his hands are now holding onto the door, opposing your motion he pulled it back open
‘Me ? Not jinki?’ He asked
‘What?’ You blurted out absolutely confused but answered
‘Yes you’
With all seriousness still on his face, Kyungsoo took a step right into your apartment and closed the door behind him.
‘Thank God, y/n’
And before you knew it, with the brightest smile, his hands was on your face pulling you in for a deeper kiss.

ARC 1/ Chapter 2
A/N: woot woot, Chapter 2 😉
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chae Hee-Young arrived at the Kim family restaurant at 1900. Dae-Hoon had called in a favor with a hoobae ("Korean, junior") who owns a private bodyguard company. Two smiling professional men showed up and explained that they were told to follow whatever she wanted them to do. Hee-Young was overwhelmed by their sincerity and even witnessed the two men refuse an unknown doctor entrance into Sang-Hoon's room.
"Welcome back, jag-eun samonim ("Korean, little boss' wife")," an older lady in a hostess uniform bowed. Hee-Young hated it when the staff would be so formal with her, as she came from a far more simpler background than her husband and his family. "Dae-Hoon doryeonnim ("Korean, young master") is waiting for you in the back."
"Is there a reason for the early closure today?" Hee-Young asked.
"Before doryeonnim requested it, sajangnim ("Korean, boss") wanted to close down the restaurant to visit Sang-Hoon doryeonnim at the hospital. Only myself and the oldest cook are here today. Please, follow me."
Madam Han was one of the first hires in the restaurant that her husband's grandfather started. Hee-Young still did not understand how the Kim family and the third son of the Ku Clan head became so close. Kim Dae-Hoon was older than Ku Chung-Ae, but Dae-Hoon would always refer to the younger male as a hyeongnim ("Korean, respectful form and masculine form of older brother").
Chae Hee-Young bowed in thanks when Madam Han opened the private room for her. Dae-Hoon was already waiting for Hee-Young with files and a laptop on one side of the table and food on the other. He looked up and waved her over, "Jesu-ssi, you're a genius! Putting Y/N Davidson on the prospective foreign students list is a perfect way to fly her under the cover."
"What? Who? Ajubeonim," Hee-Young was beyond confused. "I'm confused. Please explain."
"You put Y/N Davidson on the prospective foreign students list for recruitment to the school," he said slowly. Dae-Hoon watched as Madam Han closed the door and Hee-Young came to sit at the table. "You did do that right?"
"No," Hee-Young said firmly. "Who is Y/N Davidson?"
"Haneul-agassi," he replied. His eye brows burrowed. "Then, who put her on the list? There can't be that many people who have access to putting forward names to that list. Let alone to see Y/N as a potential Deokhye Academy prospect."
"Actually," Hee-Young started to eat. There were not a lot of choices of food to eat as she refused to leave her son's side at the hospital. With the two young men watching over and the secret hidden cameras she had installed in the room, Hee-Young realized that she had not eaten anything substantial in the past three days. "Any teacher, current or former, alumni with honors, and donor can put forward names to be put on the list. They're given an invitation to take the entrance exams."
"Oh," Dae-Hoon relaxed after hearing that. "So it's just good fortune for us that someone recognized Y/N for her merits to get an invitation. That's a relief. For a moment, I thought that dirty rat was behind this.
"Let's eat. I know you haven't been eating because you're busy watching over Sang-Hoon. Then, we'll go over whatever mad plan you have to try and bring Y/N to Deokhye Academy."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It really wasn't that crazy of a plan. It was Hee-Young's "Hail Mary". Either Y/N was returning to Seoul to put a stop to whatever Kim Myung-Ki was planning or not return at all. Everything that Dae-Hoon and Hee-Young tried to do was futile to try and stop Kim Myung-Ki from completely controlling not only Deokhye Academy, but also the Ku Clan.
She owed it to Evelyn to protect her daughter. However, she already lost her husband and Zitao to Deokhye Academy. Hee-Young could not lose Sang-Hoon. She only hoped that Y/N would at least consider helping them secure her family's legacy for Sang-Hoon.
Hee-Young had announced to the Academy that she was going to go to Boston to plead with an American doctor who specialized in bringing patients back from comas to take on her son's case. Thankfully, there really was a specialist located near Boston. The doctor was retired, but Hee-Young knew exactly where he was.
After all, she was going straight to the ranch. There was a good chance that Alessandro Davidson had a hand in help raising Y/N Davidson become the junior Olympian she was today. At least, Hee-Young thought there was a good chance. She remember Evelyn always talked about how Alessandro would have made it to the Olympics if he wasn't so focused on medicine.
She would be gone until the end of January of the following year. As much as she would have wanted for Sang-Hoon to miraculously recover, her baby needed time to heal. Dae-Hoon had promised that if the two bodyguards were not with her son, that he himself would sit with Sang-Hoon.
Her flight from Incheon International Airport started boarding at 2350, so Hee-Young made a point to get to the airport three hours in advance. It was the first time she was flying out of the country without family or business to keep her mind occupied. There was a layover in Dubai. She did not want to take any risks, so she booked a flight with Emirates and selected the layover in Dubai as she usually did while flying.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She made it through the custom and security of the airport and waited in the lounge where she pulled out her laptop. The black faux leather seats of the waiting area were comfortable as Hee-Young relaxed into them. The noise of Seoul never reached the lounge areas of Incheon Airport. Hee-Young made it early enough to not have to deal with crowds and nosy people.
It also made it much easier to see if she was being followed by one of Kim Myung-Ki's spies. She had one task that she wanted to complete before she landed in Boston tomorrow. After dinner with Dae-Hoon, Hee-Young wanted to know who recommended Y/N. It should have been easy to find out, except the name on the form when she looked it up was her own.
She did not even know that Haneul-agassi's had a new name, let alone that it was Y/N Davidson.
The time stamp of the forms was also when Hee-Young was at the end of year feast with the rest of the school. Two weeks before the end of year rankings came out and Sang-Hoon was attacked. If it was not her who put in Y/N in the system, then who was it? And why use her as the scapegoat? And how did they do it?
Hee-Young did not want to say their network was compromised. There was no way a hacker would get into their system just to put in a name of a junior Olympian from America who just so happened to be the presumed dead heiress to the Ku Clan. Hee-Young was not the best programmer, but she did have a very long phase of her angry teenage to young adult years of white hat hacking.
It was an embarrassing long phase of her life that she hid from her husband and his family. Besides the fact that she was doing illegal acts under the guise of protecting the underdog, Hee-Young was never caught. When she met her husband, she feigned not understanding computers to keep meeting him.
It took her two and a half hours to finally find where the hacker had snuck into their network. By the time that Hee-Young had found the virus, it was time to board the plane. She would have to look for the signature that the hacker used during the layover at Dubai. The hacker did not seem to be interested in anything else but putting Y/N on their prospective list.
She packed up her things to board the plane when her phone pinned with messages from Dae-Hoon. If she didn't know any better, she would say that he was more worried about her mad plan working than her failing. Hee-Young boarded her plane while texting her brother-in-law.

(Part 2 of Careful,)
Tumblr media
The lecture hall is damp from boredom and like minded individuals, and so she puts herself in a spot slightly to the left, in the back where it’s a bit hidden from the nosiness of the students in her History class. She waits for Mrs. Kang to appear as she tinkers with her phone, searching through her images and playing games, considering the internet is banned from inside the actual classrooms for the benefits of busybodies like herself.
Mrs. Kang enters in the same time as the last group of students do, and she stares them down so hard that they quickly skittle down, thanking God that she, from all professors, don’t have that rule in excluding students that come after her. She stares at the glared at students with sick amusement, opening her laptop and turning it on to ready herself in notes taking. However, her small tinge of positive amusement is destroyed when a heavy body slides himself so casually on her seat, the one thing that she had happily bragged to own herself. She looks to the abhorrent nuisance that invaded her personal space, and her neutral face expression shifts into an annoyed one. Seeing this, Baekhyun just grins prettily at her, his straight teeth glinting like diamonds. She wants to gouge his intestines out.
“What are you doing?” She looks down at her laptop in feigned disinterest, even though her eyebrows constantly shift around in a narrow. “No, seriously, what the heck are you doing?”
“Shh, we’re in a lecture hall,” he puts a tall and pretty finger on his lips. “Mrs. Kang had not punished you before because you’re her favorite student, but I won’t take my chances. She knows who I am. I’ve made a ruckus or two,” he seems very proud of this, his eyes flashing smugly, “and I’ve been kicked out of her class a lot. So shush, let me concentrate.”
“All the more reasons for you to fuck off,” she tilts her head a little to the side so she can hiss at him, her hands beginning to type quickly as Mrs. Kang begins her lecture. “I’d rather not be seen here with you. Also, you’re not here to concentrate. You’re here to rip the skin out of my body.” She pretends to shiver violently.
He snickers, and it comes out a little loud. Mrs Kang instantly stops her exciting monologuing (it’s rare to find someone who manages to speak so boringly, and yet excitedly at the same time, but she does so perfectly) to whip her head around, her eyes hawk-like and deadly.
“I hear snickering!” She yells. “Who dares laughing in my class?”
Baekhyun instantly pretends to be an innocent listener, his eyes big and preposterously uncanny. Mrs. Kang ravishes the students with her narrowed, kohl eyes.
“Just because you give me a vague face, doesn’t mean I won’t find you.” The teacher threatens again. Still, no one gives her any response.
She’s a bit astonished that none of the nearby students who actually heard Baekhyun snicker were telling on him. But the surprise quickly vanishes when she looks around at their faces, every single one avoiding Baekhyun’s amused eyes, threat very clear under.
She rolls her eyes.
Mrs. Kang kinda mellows over once no one confesses and she no longer hears laughter, and resumes her lecture with the same vindictive tone that she has been using in the start of the semester.
Immediately after her back is to the class, Baekhyun slides his butt closer to her, until their thighs are a brush away. She gives him a creeped out look, and he simply leans against the table on his elbow, putting his head on his palm. He grins, or smirks. His lips only curl a little, and the devilish glint in his eyes makes him appear dangerous, so she goes with smirking. He is smirking, indeed. For a second, she understands why people are afraid of him. Tremors kinda bloom in her body, but she pushes the irrational emotion out of her system quickly. She turns to the board, focusing on the professor.
Soon, she realizes that he isn’t looking away. He’s staring at her in the same mischievous yet intolerable way. She gives him a thin-lipped smile, apparent in its annoyance. Her eyes wide and irritated. His eyes only twinkle more in that stupid, attractive glint of his that’s entirely evil.
“Yes? Is there something you need, dumbass?” She sighs.
He nods seriously, his face grave. “Yes. I was wondering if you’d be my Twin Flame. The walls to my well. The stone to my heart. The poison to my soul. Oh, be my favorite nightmare.”
She takes one of her blue pens and flicks it on his forehead. It flops pathetically on the floor. He sniggers again - much more quietly - and rubs his surely reddening spot.
“Seriously, I want nothing. I’m just quietly staring at you.”
“For what reason, oh please tell, you’re staring at me for?” She leans towards him as if potentially saying something secretive. “Do you know that staring so intently at someone’s eyes can affect their chakra? So, I’ll just stare right back at you hoping that my laser eyes can negatively make you bend over this desk. I gotta tell you, I have very strong chakra.”
He furrows his eyebrows weirdly. “You believe in this bullshit?”
Her eyes widen a little, but she quickly composes herself to squint instead. “No, I don’t. But I thought someone like you might.”
“I can’t help but have the slightest conclusion that you just called me a loser, which hurts my feelings. It really does.”
“Does it? And here I thought hurting your feelings would require more effort.” She gives him a mocking smile, and then turns to the professor with her default blank face.
He stares at her, a little amused at her odd shenanigans, and wonders how someone like her had slipped from under his eyes. He’s usually a quiet person that makes it his daily struggle to stare people down to scare them, but to see her, a person that’s so easily irritated for completely different reasons than his amusement actually makes him... excited. He hasn’t really considered annoying her today because of their promise to work on their assignment (or just his) but once he came inside the classroom, he remembered her amusing response of yesterday and subconsciously found himself going to her row, seating himself comfortably next to her.
He continues to annoy her throughout the lecture by poking on her shoulder when she concentrates and breaks her focus, or kicking her shin from under the table whenever she’s pulling a funny look at the utter shit Mrs. Kang is spouting so she’d adjust her bold facials into a neutral face, of course for her own benefits. He’d even steal pens from her large - very large - pen collection, throwing the used pen away from her grabby hands only to steal another one right under her nose. She’s disappointed in herself. She thought she has great reflexes, but she’s considered piss poor in comparison to Baekhyun’s fast, dangerous reflexes. Something about his numerous black belts in hapkido, as he easily bragged at her discomforted look towards her stollen utensils.
Of course, she’s hyper aware of the accumulation of stares from everyone piling up her back. She knows she’s being watched; or rather he’s been watched, for some reason their close proximity to one another, and the constant flying arms coming from her part to smack him away has ticked everyone the wrong way. She has been aware, since the start, that his presence so close to her would rise unfiltered attention from nosy students who found it their prime pastime to watch other unsuspecting students. She doesn’t care that much, of course. She has already been a suspect of gossip her entire life for having the personality that she does, but to be stared down at for different reasons than the ones she’s used to... she gotta say. It feels good.
The minute the lecture ends - very, very slowly - she instantly stands up, making her chair squeak. She raises her already collected stuff on her shoulder, turns to a suddenly flustered Baekhyun, and reaches over for his hair. His yelps come quick and excessive, especially when she uses his hair to pull him out of his chair. He complies, of course, so she doesn’t end up ripping his entire hair roots from his head, and follows after her obediently - yet loudly - as she drags him somewhere else. At first he doesn’t say anything, even though he can overpower her easily, because he knows he kinda sorta deserved to be treated like a dog, but the minute he sees her approaching the library (where silence is a requirement he can’t reach) he grabs her wrist and twists her hand as further back as it can go from his hair. It’s her time to yelp.
In response, her claws release his hair from their clutches, and he stands to his full height. Then, he pulls her towards him, or more like jerks her against him in a single gesture, until she bumps roughly into his chest, and pushes her on the wall so she’s stuck between two solid rocks.
She looks up at him with wide eyes. Her heartbeats are racing so fast inside her chest, she’s a little worried she wouldn’t be able to breathe at the end of this escapade. Of course, he looks down at her, his eyes narrowed and dangerous, but still holding a small flicker of childlike smugness. When he’s so close to her like this, she realizes how short she is. At first, she considered him short in comparison to most males in her university, but while he’s pressing her against the library wall like this, she understands that no, he isn’t short.
“Yah,” he calls, but the voice is soft and tender, the kind that makes a prey submit just to be devoured. She refuses to gulp in front of him and instead glares venomously at him. Seeing this, he lowers his face to her, his warm breath falling on her nose, her mouth and chin like waterfalls. “Yah.”
“Is my name yah to you?” She hisses like a snake, giving him her best don’t fuck with me look, even though genuinely, she’s shaking underneath him.
He narrows his eyes at her. “Do you think I let people shove their hands in my hair like that? Do you think people go around dragging me like that?”
She scoffs. She’s burning up from the inside; of course she is. In one hand, she’s not used to being squished like this against walls. In fact, she’s not sure she has ever felt such warmth from a human body encompassing her like this, and she’s not sure the sensation is to her liking. A girl from her background is used to selfish smacks on the head as a meager exposure of emotions, so such little proximity, with a man nevertheless, makes her feel.. strange. He’s not as soft as she first thought of him, as well. He’s all rigidness and soft muscles, and considering she’s as experienced as a squished slug, she’s not sure if that’s a good thing or not. The way he’s staring down at her, like he’s conscious of the fact he might be in the presence of a cheetah hasn’t gone unnoticed by her, and despite his dumb personality, she has to admit that she likes careful people, especially those careful around her. However, she’s not exactly a flower girl. She refuses to be a flower girl, no matter how much respect she has for flower girls.
She lifts her knee and violently connects it to the man’s junk. She watches in sick, fascinated awe as the man’s face changes. It contorts into a painful scrunch, and quickly, he succumbs to the gravitational pull into the floor. He curls in a heap on the ground, moaning in pain. She huffs, brushes her hair from her sweaty neck - for no specific reason, of course - and glares at the watchful crowd. They quickly flush away like toilet water.
A few minutes after Baekhyun’s fall, she looks down at him as if she’s exhausted from his childish antics, and says. “I don’t let people pin me to walls, either. You’re not that special.”
She twists around dramatically - yes, she knows she’s dramatic - and intends to walk inside the library. But a few seconds later, she realizes that she isn’t being followed, so she pauses. She twists back dramatically (again) and narrows her eyes at the dead body on the floor. “Yah, Aren’t you coming? We have stuff to work on, you know.”
-
She yawns monstrously, and drags her heavy legs towards the convenience store a few minutes away from her tiny apartment in the middle of a neighborhood she has troubles remembering the name of. She bows respectfully at the older man owning the store, being on social terms, enough to be yelling at him without taking responsibility to her stupid anger, and walks further inside.
She shuffles around, her legs feelings like a full body sag as she tries to pull her weight up. Considering she has a certain amount of money she can spend on snacks because of her tight budget, she only chooses the most important snacks to her. For instance, she’s a sweet tooth so she gathers as much chocolate, marshmallows, and fluffy jellies as she can, then settles on two medium sized chip bags. She travels to the beverages’ fridge like a disabled elephant, and takes a few bottles of soda. She is not a fan of beer and soju. Those do nothing to tilt her world upside down anyways. To her, they are a waste of money.
Busy going around the ramen section, she doesn’t notice the tall man that enters the shop. She fails to notice the humongous sneeze that he releases either, shivering like a wet dog, sans the wet part. Her eyes are half-lidded with sleep, and her lips are practically swirly like water with how tired she is because of work, so she only gets attuned to his presence when she smacks into his side.
“Ow,” she mutters pathetically, rubbing her forehead with the hand holding the ramen. She raises her eyes to glare at the fucker, because that’s what she’s good at, even though she’s the one who bumped into him, only to falter when she sees Chanyeol. “Chanyeol?”
“Uh, yeah. Hello?” He sounds awkward, his large hands paused around two packets of ramen himself. He stares down at her because he’s a skyscraper, and that’s what skyscrapers do to align to people; and stares back at the ramen. He stares back at her, again, then at the ramen, nervous at seeing her for whatever reason.
She narrows her eyes at him suspiciously. “What the heck are you doing in this convenience store? Or in this neighborhood?”
Chanyeol blinks, “I live here?”
“You don’t sound so sure about that answer.” She continues to narrow her eyes at him.
“Okay?”
She rolls her eyes and shuffle away from him. Noticing that she picked everything she needs, she heads for the register to pay for her things. Oddly enough, Chanyeol’s quick to follow her, standing behind her patiently. She tilts her head backwards so she can peek inconspicuously at him, and sees he’s only holding packets of instant ramen. He notices her trying to act slick, and focuses his big eyes on her. She quickly looks away, feeling a burn in the back of her neck.
She pays, and leaves, walking through the endless night of the day, huffing because her bags ended up being heavier than she expected. However, she’s a strong, independent woman, and so she swallows up her growing whine. But that doesn’t stop her from stomping on the ground as she walks further away from the convenience store.
Her loud, angry stomps doesn’t entirely block her from the steps that’s strangely walking after her. She pauses in her strides to check if she’s really hearing things, and the footsteps behind her pauses as well. She turns around suspiciously and finds Chanyeol standing behind her, a confused look on his face.
“Why’d you suddenly stop?” He asks, and she’d have found the question an okay one if she hadn’t already surrendered herself to the growing suspicion in her belly.
Instead of answering his question, she fires a question of her own. “Why are you following me?”
He tilts his head to the side, and a lock of dark hair falls on his left eye, giving him a sense of innocence that contradicts the tight clothes he’s wearing. His leather pants are so snug against him that she wonders how he can even walk, and his leather boots make him appear taller, if that’s even possible. She’s a bit envious of the large jacket that he’s wearing, making him bigger and helping him against the cold nights of January. She has been dumb enough to forget her jacket at work today, and so she’s forced to walk around shivering like a rat.
After she finishes inspecting him like a creep, and remembering the fact he hadn’t answered her question, she goes on her merry way for some reason, noticing that his own footsteps commenced after her. She takes lefts and turns away from her house, to check if he’s following her, and once she makes clear accusation in her mind that he is following her, she swivels around to glare at him. He looks back, eyes entirely vacant of emotions.
“See? You are following me, listen..” she twiddles her toes inside her flats, instantly nervous at the concept of being followed. “I don’t know who you think I am, and I don’t know who you think you are, but kidnapping unsuspecting victims is wrong. Kidnapping any kind of victims is wrong. See, maybe you are failing your classes, and maybe you don’t have a flourishing sex life, and maybe you are into this bad boy bullshit, but trust me, a felony following after your back is bad. It’s very bad for your resumé. Weren’t you the one so careful about the internal scarring of your heart? A felony is so much worse than that, I gotta tell you.”
Chanyeol’s lips curl at the blunder she’s throwing on his way, her usually glaring eyes now shaking in nervousness. He gathers all of his ramen in one arm so he can throw a large hand on his mouth to stop his growing laughter from bursting out. To see a girl like her showing uncharacteristic nervousness, it’s kind of funny, despite evilly knowing it’s causing her an internal meltdown.
She looks at him carefully, eyes prodding, and she fails to notice the fact his raised hand is to cover his laughter, not to knock her out. She eyes him up and down, putting her large bag of bought goodies on her chest as a secure guard against him, even though he seems like he can smack her unconscious with a simple kiddie slap. She swallows, taking a step back.
“Please,” she whimpers, then clears her throat when it shows that she’s whimpering, “I don’t taste good. I have nothing against cannibals, but I have the thought to consider myself distasteful.”
He calls her name to pull her out of her stupidly amusing fear, and she swallows, lifting her head up in false confidence. She notices that his eyes are twinkling, the same devilish sparkle that she associated Baekhyun with. To see them so similar yet different at the same time is unnerving, but she doesn’t focus on that. She’s a bit terrified to be consumed at the moment to think about anything else.
“Listen,” Chanyeol’s low baritone comes out of his lips, and this time he doesn’t push himself to conceal his smile. “I’m not following you. I’m not going to eat you. I don’t like the meat of innocent women.”
She stares at him suspiciously. “You prefer the meat of innocent men? I’m not judging.”
He rolls his eyes. “I don’t eat people, sweetie.”
She bristles like she has been burned, and she forgets about her flammable fear to give him a cold, deadly look. He falters. “Don’t call me that. Nobody calls me that, Chanyeol.”
He clears his throat, “Right,” he points at the house right behind her, the mirth quickly returning back to his opaque eyes. “My apartment is right behind you. I genuinely was walking home.”
she twists around to observe the house, noticing that it’s a large building with numerous floors. She guesses that he indeed is telling the truth, noticing the small sign on the corner naming the house as a university resident for males. Her face goes all types of colors at having not noticed the actual sign, and she starts to recollect her footsteps to see if she had accidentally just lead the man home. Maybe she is the stalker one. Her embarrassment grows.
She looks back at him, blinking, and he has the audacity to showcase his smug smirk. She clears her throat and squeezes her fingers around her bag, taking a few steps to the side so the giant scraper can get a leeway to enter his home. He does so, but before he can disappear inside; he turns around to give her another amusement-filled look.
She tries to gather her dignity, disliking the fact Chanyeol has seen her on her real act of a little scaredy cat, whether her fear is justified or not, so she clears her throat, swings her bag on her shoulder like a boss, and bellows, “Just so you know, cannibals are disgustingly immoral, whatever immorality is to you. I was just trying to secure myself a safe spot. I do have a lot of judgment against you. Lots and lots of judgments.”
“Good to know that.” Is Chanyeol’s cheeky answer.
She goes home with a stamp of red, crimson blotch all over her face and the back of her neck. For a second she wonders if she can avoid Chanyeol for the rest of her life so this episode of hers can be removed eternally from her internal disk drive, but then she rationalizes that the memory is shared between the two of them, not her alone. Whether she forgets her shameful distastefulness or not, she’s sure he won’t, so she bangs her face to a wall in her living room, believing that her stoic good girl image is ruined, forever.
She just hopes he doesn’t share this with Baekhyun.

Author Note:
So maybe the oc is dumb, ahaha.
I really find myself enjoying writing this fic. It’s very different than the characters I usually write, even though the concept is repetitive and cliché.
And yes, they live in the same neighborhood, but it seems that Chanyeol’s university resident is a bit far away from her apartment, thus why the lefts and turns she had to take to guide him away, ahaha.
We can see a bit of distinction in Yeol and Baek’s personalities??? We’ll of course see more of their personalities!

under the moonlight || junmyeon & reader
Tumblr media
title: under the moonlight pairing: junmyeon/suho x reader  genre: ceo!reader, hint of soulmate!au, slow-burn words: 8.4k notes: continuation to [city lights]’s junmyeon, journey to him healing his own heart after letting go of his first love for her to be with his best friend who so happens to be her soulmate (chanyeol) // did this because junmyeon deserves some love & also may be a second part + will profread when i get the chance!!
part one || final
Though the living room was filled with laughter and yelling from drinking games, Junmyeon’s attention was locked on the girl of his dreams who stands in the kitchen in the arms of her soulmate, face snuggled into his chest while mumbling a ‘thank you’ for the surprise birthday party that he’d planned for her. In response, he lets out a chuckle as he places a delicate kiss onto her forehead.
Junmyeon knew it would’ve been selfish if he neglected Chanyeol’s wishes when he barged into his bedroom of their shared apartment, hair disheveled with a stressed look washed over his face. “I can’t do this anymore, I need to be with her. She’s all I think about, night and day. I haven’t even had a real conversation with her yet I know everything about her... and I love but hate everything about her because she makes me feel like I can’t live unless it’s with her.” He was aware that the younger male was going through the side-effects of refusing a relationship with his designated soulmate, evidently on the brink of detonation. It was time to let her go, no matter how much he loved her. She belonged to Chanyeol.
The moment Junmyeon picked up the phone to ask Chanyeol to check up on her while on his business trip, he sensed over the phone Chanyeol’s wariness at the sight of the girl’s frame in bed, shivering from a fever. It was that very second it became clear to him that Chanyeol was biologically her soulmate, someone she could never let go even if she tried. Both of their dreams would be flooded with the thoughts of each other, sleepwalking mid-day to meet unconsciously, and yearning for the embrace of one another though far apart.
Goodbyes were rough. But the goodbye with her especially was the worst.
Telling her that she wasn’t made for him and that they couldn’t be together while her eyes were brimming with tears was the hardest moment of his life. Breaking the heart of the woman he still loved was never in his plans. But Chanyeol was his best friend and watching him deteriorate day by day was just as painful for himself.
So he sacrificed his love so that they could be together.
“Junmyeon, you don’t know how much it means to me that you came.” She says, voice soft. They’re standing in the corner of the living room, separated from the group just enough to hear the other speak. “I know how uncomfortable it must be for—”
“Don’t say that.” He interjects, adjusting the black beanie that sits on his head. “I meant what I said that day months ago. Just because we aren’t together like that doesn’t mean I won’t be in your life anymore. You were more than just a girl I dated, I loved you.”
He lied. He still loves her. But he’d never say that.
She’s chewing on her bottom lip, hair cut shorter from their last exchange that strays fall out from the hair-tie and over her face. He wishes he could push it away and behind her ear but that’s crossing the line.
“I loved you too, Junmyeon. You know that.”
“But you love Chanyeol now.” He adds, grabbing his jacket off the coat rack. Junmyeon was ending his night earlier than the rest, claiming that he wasn’t feeling too well from having to wake up early and sleeping later for an assignment at work when really he couldn’t bear to watch the two of them together for long, his heart still healing. “And I’m happy that it’s working out.”
His first love stands there for a moment, silent, despite the sounds coming from the main area as she walks him toward the front door. “Why are you so quiet?” Junmyeon questions, raising a brow.
“Chanyeol and I talked about the topic of marriage.”
Marriage. He hasn’t even fully recovered from the break-up yet and she’s already moved on entirely.
“But... I’m not ready. I still think of you.” The words would have been more comforting if it resulted with her in his arms instead.
“We both need to move on.” He sighs, one hand on the doorknob and his heart still in hers. “It’s going to take some time but it’ll be worth it in the end. The torture from being without him will stop.”
“How did you know?”
“Know about what?”
“That I had those side effects. I never told you about it.”
Junmyeon sighs, finally turning the handle to open the door. “You started looking more and more tired each day and you complained about it often. So I did some research to see what was wrong. It’s a side effect from denying your soulmate.”
Tumblr media
Forcing himself into work everyday was hard.
After spending so much time with his first love, she was close to convincing him to drop his day job for a career in music. Working in a corporate office was gnawing on him alive, not to mention how unbearably stiff the suits were while he sat at his office for over 8 hours a day.
“Hey,” Someone says. Her voice is tender and calm, capturing his attention. “Junmyeon, right?” You were peeking your head into his cubicle, too short to completely reach over the walls.
You were the CEO of the company he worked at, the founder of a skincare line that you developed the formulas on your own with hands-on operations and testing, utilizing your degree received after University where you studied in the States. He’d only been part of the business team for a short period of time and hadn’t even gotten to meet you yet, despite how heavily involved you were on the floor.
“Yes, I’m Junmyeon,” He says quickly, breaking his gaze before standing up, bowing and extending his hand for a shake. “Sorry about that. Wasn’t expecting to see you.” You repeat his actions and if he didn’t know any better, he’d think you were mocking him.
“Sorry, it’s okay. I came unannounced. Should’ve probably called or something right?” You ask, scratching the back of your head agonizingly, slightly unsure how to act in social situations. “I just thought I could stop by to talk to you.”
“I’m available to talk. Something wrong?”
Straightening the pencil skirt that hugs your lower half, you grin cheekily at him. “I’ve been going around lately, trying to understand the jobs of the people who work here. We’ve been doing so well that I wanted to meet the people who were extremely involved in the impact. Would you like to go out for lunch with me?”
Blinking blankly, Junmyeon is taken aback. You— the woman ran an entire company with products on the shelves of huge department stores to high end private shops just for the elite to take him out to lunch?
He glances over at his lunch bag that sits on the corner of the desk, pausing for a moment. And almost as if you read his mind, you say, “We could always put it in the fridge for tomorrow. Come. Let me take you out for lunch, Junmyeon. Company’s treat!”
Tumblr media
Dropping by your office before making way out, you snatch the jacket off the back of your office chair, slinging it over your shoulders.
Junmyeon just stands in the doorway entering in, leery about coming in any further. Despite you being the one asking him to tag along, he still felt the invisible wall between the two of you, a CEO and just some guy in the business department.
Your office was massive— the windows were stretched from corner to corner, ceiling to floor, with a view of the city that was breathtaking. On the opposite side had a glass wall, seeing out to the rest of the floor where employees work, but oddly enough you never had the blinds of it opened.
“Why are you standing there so awkwardly?” You chuckle, grabbing your wallet, phone and keys from the top of your desk. “You know that you can come in here, right? I don’t bite.”
“Sorry,” he mutters, rubbing his nape anxiously. “Just kind of feels like I don’t belong here.”
You roll your eyes, walking toward him and out the room as he follows, closing the door behind. “Junmyeon, you’re always welcomed in my office. Any problems you have are mine as well. Don’t hesitate to talk to me about anything, I own an entire company for God’s sake! I would do anything I can to help a fellow employee.”
In his department, you had a reputation. Men thought you were hot— so attractive that whenever you’d walk by and greet everyone on your way to your office, they’d drool, eyes never leaving your bare legs or bottom. Women were more of a split category; some resented you for gaining the attention of men so easily, others admire your hard work and ambitions, yet trying very hard to accommodate any of the employees’ issues personally. It was hard to please everyone.
“Johnny,” You call out your assistant, his desk sitting several feet outside of your office. “I’m having lunch with Junmyeon today.”
Johnny is a skyscraper. But when he’s sitting down, he seems so small next to you, almost like a little grocery store in the corner of the block of a big city while at his desk.
“So you’re ditching Eunwoo today?”
“Never said I agreed to having lunch with him. If he comes, just say I left. I’m having lunch with Junmyeon.”
Leaning back in his seat, he has his arms crossed against his chest, squinting at you. Junmyeon always questioned the relations between you and Johnny, but after observing the entire conversation, it seems like he’s just a concerned friend. Most likely why you keep him around.
“Should I say you’re having lunch with Junmyeon? Might piss Eunwoo off.” He says, gesturing toward Junmyeon when he says his name.
“Why are you trying to piss him off? I said I was over it.” You click your tongue, waving off Johnny in dismissal afterwards. “Whatever, I said I’m leaving. See you after lunch.”
Tumblr media
“You’re probably wondering who Eunwoo is,” You unlock the doors of your car, opening the drivers side when Junmyeon stops in his tracks. “He’s my ex.”
“Wait— you’re driving?”
“Yeah, how else would we get there?” Sliding into the driver’s seat, he hesitates for a moment before following into the passenger side.
“Just didn’t think you’d be driving.” Junmyeon responds, putting on his seatbelt over his body. “Were you supposed to meet with your ex today?”
“He assumed.” Pressing the start button, the engine of the Audi roars, a sweet sound to any car enthusiast’s ears.
“You don’t think I drive?”
“More like... I thought you had a driver.”
You shake your head, pulling out of the garage of the company’s building, driving in the direction of a restaurant he’s not familiar with.
“Where are we going?”
“Pick: a five star restaurant or a restaurant that deserves it?”
“The latter.”
“A man after my own heart,” You joke, glancing over his direction with a sweet smile. “My favorite spot. It won’t take long.”
Tumblr media
It’s a ramyun restaurant hidden within a large city without much foot traffic, but he wasn’t going to doubt your plans.
After handing the waiter back your menus with your orders, you rub your hands on your skirt sheepishly. “Uh, do you have a girlfriend?”
Shocked by the sudden question, Junmyeon’s jaw slacks.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean it like that. I mean, have you met your soulmate yet?” Once the words leave your mouth again, you groan at your lack of execution of holding small talk. “Sorry again, ignore that. Didn’t mean it like that.”
“I don’t have a girlfriend and no, I haven’t yet.” He thought your reaction was cute. It was understandable how people were so easily smitten by you. “Do you?”
“No,” You say, voice a bit disappointed but your face doesn’t show it. “But I’m too busy anyway. I meant to ask because you’ve been working endless hours and I was afraid it was taking you away from someone at home.”
You were worried about him. It was different from the way his first love showed that she cared, she was more of a person who showed that she was worried, less vocal than you.
“No,” He chuckles light heartedly. Coming into your car, he was tensed and intimidated by your presence, but seeing the way you stuttered your words made you seem more human than how the employees made you out to be. “I’m alone. No one is nagging at me at home.”
“Ah,” You say, tapping your fingers onto the wooden table. “I see. I’m really impressed with your work, Junmyeon. How did you get into your career field?”
“Just seemed simpler at the time,” He admits, leaning back into his chair. “It was an easy major that my group of friends were considering, and although I really wanted to pursue music, I knew I needed some stability.”
“Music?” You ask as the waitress comes by with glasses full of water as you bow your head in appreciation. “Are you still interested in it?”
“Mm, sometimes. I’ve produced some songs here and there, I enjoy working with my creative side.”
“Would you venture out of your comfort zone?”
“I mean, if I could I would. But I have bills to pay, so I stay where I am now and do the best I can at it.”
You’re quiet for a moment as the server comes by, delivering your bowls of ramyun to the table. The aroma coming from the food made your mouths water, and your stomach growling in hunger in the process. “Sorry,” Your cheeks flush pink. “I’m kinda hungry.”
“Don’t apologize,” A smile tugs on the edges of his mouth softly. “It’s natural.”
Your stomach tightens at his smile but you brush it off as just a reaction from starving yourself from yesterday’s lunch. Business has been blooming, taking time away from your everyday from actually taking care of yourself. Taking Junmyeon here was supposed to be a learning experience about him, something you said you’d try doing frequently with your employees, but getting to eat at your favorite restaurant was your own version of self-care.
“How would you consider working in my marketing department? Well, more of the design or creative team. I have commercials and clips they play in stores to produce, and if you’re interested, maybe you can dip your toes in that. Both working with music and filmography?”
Junmyeon stops in the midst of blowing the steam from his raging hot noodles, lips pursed. “Wait, what?”
After chewing a mouthful of the delicious ramyun that awakens both you and your tastebuds, you blissfully lean back in your seat. “Jesus, just one bite takes me away.” You compliment before sitting back up, preparing yourself for another spoonful. “What I’m trying to say is, if you’re interested, you should consider working in the marketing department. I can’t offer you a record deal, but I can get your foot in the door somewhere.”
“I haven’t shown you a portfolio or anything.” He says, sweat beads forming on his forehead, and he’s not sure if it’s from anxiety or the temperature of the noodles.
“You don’t need to. It’s a learning experience and you grow and improve as you go. I trust that if you enjoy it enough, you’d get better with it. If you don’t, that’s okay. Feel free to tell me and I’d be more than happy to put you back in the business department, hauling away with meetings and conversations with both men and women that you probably hate with a fiery passion.”
“You’re not serious, are you?”
“Do you want it or not, Junmyeon? I’m a busy woman, I’m trying to eat my noodles.”

Knocking on the tall wooden doors that lead into your office, he discreetly opens it slightly, peering before completely entering. He calls out your name, the gentlest sound you’ve ever heard as your head snaps in his direction. “You asked for me?”
“I did!” You point to the seat across from your desk, gesturing for him to get comfortable.
“What could I do for you?”
You’re finishing up an email, eyes glued on the monitor before hitting the ‘send’ button before fully giving your whole attention to the male in front of you. “It’s been a week since you’ve started in your new department. How is it?”
You were right, it had been an entire week since you’ve last spoken, occasionally exchanging glances in the office, and Junmyeon can’t believe how quickly time had passed by. You had transitioned him in the marketing department, with hopes that he could get some more exposure to a different part of the industry since his dreams fit more with dipping into his artistic skills. He was enjoying the new experience so much that he had forgotten how much time had passed, assuming he’d only seen you several days go.
“It’s been a week already?” He says without thought, running his fingers through his lightly styled hair. You can’t help but notice the way he makes your breath hitch but you dismiss the feeling by clearing your throat. “I guess I’ve been enjoying it so much I haven’t even noticed how quickly time has passed.”
“That’s good to hear!” He actually seemed delighted with his new job. One of the perks of being in your position was being able to do things like this and see people change, see people be happy. If it fit your means to do it, you’d make it happen. “I’m glad. Please feel free to tell me if you’re having any issues. I’m flexible, if you’re not content with what you’re doing, I can always transfer you somewhere else within the company, or even back to where you were.”
“Can I ask something?”
“Sure, shoot. What is it?” You rest your arms on your large glass desk that seemed so tiny in your spacious office.
He’s quiet for a moment, licking his lips in thought. “Why are you doing this? I didn’t think it was possible for me to... just switch out of my department and do something entirely new. I don’t have the skillset for it, nor a degree or anything.”
Shrugging, you purse your lips, eyes circling the room. “Because life isn’t easy. Not everyone is going to find what they enjoy in their high school years when they’re applying for colleges. Hell, college isn’t necessarily the place you’re guaranteed to find what you like anyway.”
“But you did?”
“I did, but I got lucky. I’ve witnessed enough people go through those feelings. Graduating from a university with a degree you worked hard to obtain in four years, only to realize that this isn’t what you want?” Taking a brief moment to organize your thoughts, you continue. “I want the people who work for me to be happy, Junmyeon. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for them, if it weren’t for people like you. In actuality, I think I work for everyone here since everyone is working to make my dreams come true. It’s only fair if I try to do the same.”
Junmyeon wasn’t quite sure why, but he was comparing you to his first love again.
There was a huge difference between the both—few similarities like how independent the two of you were, how immersed in your careers you’d been, and how much you cared for other people. It’d been the first time in a while since he’d been so observant and drawn someone, so distracted from his ex that he found himself wanting to know more about you.
“That’s... selfless.”
“Just a thought.” You grin, tapping the pads of your fingertips against your desk again. It’s a habit of yours when you’re dubious about your next action, he picks up. “Do you think you can show me some of the things you’re working on before they air?”
Tumblr media
“I heard you got a new job,” Chanyeol says from beside, startling Junmyeon as he’s grabbing a couple pieces of pork onto his plate. “How’d you land such a great deal? You’re producing the commercial for that skincare line you used to work for, right?”
“Somewhat right,” Junmyeon responds, a bit distracted by cooking the raw meat, placing the completed ones on Chanyeol’s plate. “I still work for that company. They just transferred me out the department to try something new.”
“No way.” Chanyeol’s eyes are huge, but they’re bulging out his head from surprise. “How did that happen?”
Junmyeon shrugs however a smile sits brightly in his face. “CEO asked what I wanted to do, I told her, and here we are.”
“Sounds like she likes you.” Minseok interjects into the conversation, popping open another bottle of cold beer. “You won the heart of the big CEO lady already? Sounds like a Korean drama,” He says, wriggling his brows suggestively.
Junmyeon denies. “Honestly, she does this thing where she has lunch with several employees to get to know what they do everyday since there has been growth in the company.”
“So you’ve had lunch with her?” Jongin is in on the conversation now, eyes from all the men at the table glued into Junmyeon.
“Uh, yes?”
“So, it was a lunch date.” Sehun invites himself in.
“No, it was just a boss and employee lunch. What’s up with you guys?”
“You’ve never really... talked about a girl lately.” Jongdae points out faintly, almost like he’s scared to pull a nerve. “At least, not for this long.”
“She’s nice... I just don’t think someone like her would ever like someone like me, though. She’s attractive, nice, and caring— but guys, come on. She owns an entire skincare line that are on the shelves of every store.”
“Stop talking down on yourself,” Chanyeol’s speaking now, and his warm orbs are comforting when they meet with Junmyeon’s. “There’s no guarantee that you’ll meet your soulmate, especially since the age is coming up. Doesn’t hurt to try shooting your shot with her, right?”
The age. The age where once you turn thirty, your chances of ever meeting your soulmate declines almost to 2%. Junmyeon has already hit the ripe age of 29 with only a year left before his probability descends into the abyss.
“I can’t hit on her.” He furrows his brows, stuffing his cheeks with a bite of kimchi. “She’s my boss.”
“Be discreet. Give her some subtle hints. If she doesn’t reciprocate, then abort mission and pretend you were just being nice.”
Junmyeon rolls his eyes at his friends’ advices. They were constantly interrupting each other with new ideas after another before someone taps his shoulder. “Junmyeon?”
“Oh— hey. Hey!” He says your name; he always says it the same way, the way that it warms your heart to the point you just wish you could grab his arms to wrap around you so you could doused yourself in his scent. He had an impact on you but you held your composure. Maybe you were starting to crush on him, if you haven’t already, because he was just so kind but he’s the type to be kind to everyone.
“Uh, guys. This is my boss...” He introduces, scratching his head. He continues on naming the rest of his group, hesitant about the whole ordeal as you wave cheekily to them all.
“You guys can just call me by my name, I’m not Junmyeon’s boss outside of the office.” You turn to look at the older male, hands stuffed into the front pockets of your jeans.
Even in the horrible brightness of fluorescent lighting, you managed to still look seamlessly beautiful in Junmyeon’s eyes. Your attire was distinct from the everyday work apparel yet you still appeared put together. Maybe Junmyeon was the one crushing.
“Come join us!” Chanyeol says quickly, gesturing the seat on the other side of Junmyeon as Jongdae slides over to give you enough room.
Junmyeon clicks his tongue, feigning a hit to Chanyeol before looking over at you. “I’m sorry, are you here with someone? I don’t want to take you away from them or force you to sit with us if you don’t want to.”
“Ah, honestly, I was just going to order something off the menu and take it home to eat. Unless you don’t want me here?”
“Oh, no, of course I want you here, come,” Junmyeon responds, tapping the empty seat beside him. Timidly, you shrug your shoulders before taking up the offer and settle at the side of Junmyeon.
Throughout the night, being with Junmyeon and his friends let you discover a completely new side of him. With them, he was considered the ‘mother’ of the group, nurturing and looking out for the rest of them, despite not being the eldest. He’s admirable, so Yixing remarks, but also selfless because he never has himself on his mind other than his friends and family.
When Junmyeon excuses himself to the bathroom, you learn that he sacrificed his relationship with the girl of his dreams so she could be with her soulmate regardless of the fact that she didn’t want to be with him because he rejected her. You find out that Chanyeol was the friend, and that he wants nothing more than to help find happiness for him as well.
You pay for dinner. Junmyeon argues with you about it for a brief moment before you jokingly threaten that his job was on the line and he pouts in return. You’re almost bold enough to tell him that if he lets you kiss his pout that he could pay.
Tumblr media
“Uh... Why are you in my office?”
“You cancelled on lunch last time. And a few times before that. I wanted to come so I can spontaneously take you out for dinner instead.”
You squint your eyes at the male in front of you, throwing the pen in your hand on your desk heatedly. “Catch the hint? I’m not very interested in the idea of having lunch with you. Or anything, really.”
“The idea, but you haven’t done it yet.”
Eunwoo is probably the cutest guy you’ve laid your eyes on but after dating for three years, it became evidently clear that the two of you didn’t click at all. Girls were at his beck and call, and you were growing tired of having to tell him which girls had bad intentions. You felt like his mom. He’s too sweet but it was starting to hurt your pride a bit when rumors were going around that he was flirting with others so you immediately put a stop to the relationship.
“Eunwoo,” You sigh heavily, leaning back in your swivel chair. It’s around 5:00PM at this point, your day filled with meetings and tasks regarding a new launch approaching soon. “This... is really sweet of you. But we broke up.”
“I’m obviously here to try again.”
“You’re so oblivious about women all the time! I’m tired of teaching you, I need someone who doesn’t need to be groomed to fit me.”
There’s a knock on the door, and both your heads snap toward the direction to only see Junmyeon’s head peeking into the room. “Uh, sorry, am I interrupting something? Johnny said I could come in.”
You wanted to call Junmyeon your own personal superhero because he’s standing there in what seems like his best work outfit, and you’re almost drooling at the sight of him. Maybe it was because it was already so late in the day, and he looks like he’s been at his desk for a long time since his tie is loosened around his neck, and a button is undone.
“No, please, come in.” Eunwoo’s glare could pierce through you right now but you keep your gaze away.
“Sorry,” Junmyeon bows at the other male before Eunwoo takes a seat in the corner of the room where the black leather couches were. He wasn’t backing down any time soon. “I... finished the video.”
“Oh?” He’s handing you a small flashdrive that you take willingly, inserting it into your computer before clicking around on your desktop before you reach your destination.
“Do you have headphones or something?”
Your brows crinkle in confusion. “What?”
He pulls out his keys, flipping open a case that holds his AirPods, placing it into the palm of your hand as you tilt your head when he rounds your desk, helping you bluetooth the device in. “Why are we doing this again?”
“Just a bit embarrassed about my first project. I don’t actually want to see you watch it.”
Eunwoo has his legs crossed, eyes shooting darts in the direction of you. He must be bursting with jealousy with how Junmyeon is seemingly close to you, making his way back to the seat in front of your desk, settling comfortably. Eunwoo observes that this is definitely not the first time the other male has been in your office.
After a few moments, you pull the buds out from your ears, placing it back into the white case and returning it to Junmyeon. “Wow... I--... Honestly, Jun, that was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. I mean I have some notes, don’t take it the wrong way, but... this is different.”
“I hope you mean a good kind of different?”
“Of course.”
He’s gifting you that warm smile again. “Send them over. I’ll take a look and send you an updated version.”
Tumblr media
“You like him.”
“Hm?” You hum heedlessly, typing away on the computer with your comments still fresh in your mind. Junmyeon had left your office moments before, taking his leave home.
“You have a crush on that guy. I just saw you give him that look.” Agilely turning your head to face your ex-lover, you heave out a sigh. “What look, Eunwoo?”
“You used to look at me like that. I remember it because it’s when I knew that you returned those feelings for me and I went for it.”
Frustrated, you push your keyboard away. “What? I can’t just look at a guy now? All of the sudden you’re an expert at these things? And why does it even matter? We’re not together anymore.”
“Because he’s competition? What else?”
“Eunwoo, get the fuck out please.” You say through your gritted teeth before throwing a post-it note stack at him as he makes his way out your office. “Okay, okay! I’ll be back though!”
Tumblr media
There’s another knock at your door. Glancing at the clock that hangs above your desk, it reads 8:30PM and you could have sworn you told Johnny to go home hours ago. If it wasn’t Johnny, then...
Getting up from the couch full of loose papers and your laptop, you walk up toward the door, swinging it open. “Eunwoo, didn’t I tell you to fuck off—”
“Uh, I take it that the guy in the room earlier was Eunwoo then?”
In a pair of grey sweats and a T-shirt, Junmyeon is standing in your doorframe underneath a baseball cap. In his hands are bags of takeout, raising it up for your viewing once your eyes laid on it.
“What’s this?” You step aside to let him in, watching as he reorganizes the papers on your coffee table and places them onto another part of the couch, setting up the food. “You didn’t seem like you were going to cave into having dinner with that guy, and the launch is happening soon. I figured you’d still be here and skip dinner.”
In all honesty, this is what you would’ve wanted Eunwoo to do. Back when the two of you were dating, you had been stuck in the same scenario— couped up in your office, drowning yourself in paperwork without any time to make back home until the night before the launch day to get ready for the event. You wanted Eunwoo to take notice, doing something similar as to this, bringing food to you instead of forcing you to go out when you didn’t have much time to spare.
“I— I don’t know what to say. Thank you, Junmyeon, really. I was starving, but with how security is at the door at this time of night, delivery would’ve been a bit of a hassle.”
“Don’t sweat it, boss.” He jokes as you sit on the couch and he plops himself onto a seat across from you. “I got you the ramyun you had last time from that place you took me.”
“You did? How’d you remember what I ordered?”
“It was so spicy, I smelt it and sneezed a couple times.” Snapping the disposable chopsticks, he hands you the pair. “Plus, who would forget a name like ‘the Diablo Ramyun’? There’s a picture of a dragon breathing fire right next to the name on the menu.”
Junmyeon kept you company that night. He eventually started reading Webtoon comics on his phone after having dinner, laying on the couch before falling into a deep slumber, mouth agape. Grabbing a spare blanket you kept for nights you spent in your office, you drape it over his body, and pulled off his hat.
He looks angelic like this— albeit he has drool streaming from the sides of his mouth. Not obligated to stay, but nonetheless he did, all because he didn’t want you to be alone or feel lonely. Although you insisted he should go home, he contends, eventually winning the argument by comfortably designating the spot on the couch to himself.
You don’t miss those soundless nights in your office anymore. Junmyeon’s snoring along with your tumultuous typing sets a new standard of bliss.
Tumblr media
It’s been about two months since that night and Junmyeon is frequent in your life.
He’s on speed-dial when you want to try new restaurants or go to events that are in the city, and he never fails to come by your side to keep you company. Sometimes, his smile catches you off guard, fluttering your heart, but other times, you think he feels as though his presence is necessary because you gave him his dream job.
“So, rumor has it: Junmyeon sleeps over at the office.”
“What makes you say that?”
Johnny eyes you suspiciously. “Other than the fact that he leaves your office bright and early in the morning with slightly damp hair with an outfit that’s just barely different from the day before?”
Your breath stops, but your fingers continue to tap away at an email. “Does he?”
“So, you sleeping with him?” You stiffen, scowling at your assistant. “No, I am not.”
“What’s he doing in here then?”
“He just... sleeps over whenever I’m having a late night session.”
“Oh, so you are sleeping with him.”
“Johnny.” You say firmly. “I am not. He just keeps me company ‘cause I’m all by myself here and it’s dark out.”
He’s reclining in the armchair in front of your desk, toes pushing off the ground while rocking the seat. “Why don’t you just ask him out if you like him that much? Why are you wasting your time just... ‘keeping company’ instead of... being his companion.”
“I’m his boss.”
“And? That’s a sexy thing. He might like a strong, self-sufficient woman. Hell—I know I do. But you’re not into me, so I’m gonna help Junmyeon if I can’t help myself.”
Ears now crimson, you admit defeat and lounge in your large work chair with a cumbersome sigh, playing along with his game. “I don’t have time to date.”
“He’s here at least once a week spending the night with you. You have time, and if you don’t, he’ll make the time to be with you.”
Pausing a moment in thought with a hum, you hit the tip of your fingers against the glass desk. “I’m not his type.”
“Oh hush, I see the way he looks at you. He thinks you’re gorgeous.”
Pursing up your lips, you assert, “I don’t believe that. What if I meet my soulmate?”
“Stop doubting your looks, he practically salivates at the sight of you that it’s all over the floor. Also, that soulmate thing? That never stopped you from dating Eunwoo, so why is Junmyeon any different?”
You shrug, playing with the pen in front of you. “His ex dated him and ended up being with her soulmate.”
“You honestly think you’re going to meet your soulmate? Tell me. You were in that research group for a couple years, what’d you gather from that?” If it wasn’t for HR, you’d probably have you hands wrapped around Johnny’s giraffe neck by now.
Back in University, you decided to partake in the Soulmate Research Group for your co-op program, rationalizing that this could help you find your ‘the one.’ The group resulted in slapping you into reality, educating you the chances of finding your soulmate had declined to almost none when considering the probability. It was the worst year of your life, having to come to terms that this fairy-tale that everyone in your life had made love seem was just something that only lucky people got to cooperate in.
“I... yeah, I know. It’s just so many goddamn people met their soulmate already, what about me? What makes me so different from the bunch?”
Johnny says your name, this time sweetly with a tone he never uses. “I never met my soulmate either. But Junmyeon is almost hitting 30, right? Imagine how he’s feeling. He can’t even get laid by a pretty girl that he sleeps in her office for on the most uncomfortable couch, let alone find his soulmate.”
Tumblr media
“Do you like me?”
“What kind of question is that?” He glances at you quizzically, fixating his attention back under the hood of your car, twisting off the cap of your car sump, checking the oil levels. An oil light had popped onto the dashboard a couple days ago and you texted Junmyeon what he recommended to do, only for him to dispute that he’d check it himself.
“I don’t know, just answer it. Do you like me?”
He chuckles, shaking his head in disbelief as he wipes the oil rod with a rag. “Of course I like you. Why else would I hang out with you and change your oil?”
“No,” You groan, leaning against your front headlights, slouching in annoyance. “Like... not as a friend. As a woman. More than a friend, someone you want to date.”
He stands, slack-jawed.
“Listen— I totally get if you don’t see me in that way, but Johnny said he saw the way you looked at me, and I figured, ‘hey, why not try to ask him out’ so—“
“Of course I see you that way. Who doesn’t? I kind of just assumed you weren’t into me since you were always rejecting my advances.”
“Advances?”
Lifting up the dirty rag in his greasy, stained hands, the sides of his mouth twitches upwards. “Like I said, why would I change your oil? Plus, how many nights have I slept in your office on that god awful couch? I also have a toothbrush in your bathroom. And spare underwear. Need I say more?”
Chewing on your bottom lip and watching as he finishes up, closing the hood of your car, you tap your shoes anxiously against the concrete ground. “Can I ask you something else?”
“What is it?”
“Can I kiss you?”
You can already imagine how difficult showering is going to be later, but with Junmyeon’s plush lips pressed against yours, how could you complain about his tarnished hands underneath the fabric of your shirt, caressing the skin of your waist?
Guiding your hips to sit onto the hood of your car, your arms snake around his neck, playing with the longer strands of his hair that brush against his nape. The way he kisses feels like he’s going to suck the air out of your lungs but you couldn’t care less— you finally had him in your embrace and you weren’t going to let go.
He’s amiable, even though it’s contradicting that he’s tugging on your lower lip between his teeth, your lips swollen and plump from the aggressive make-out session. He doesn’t push too far, just right where you’re comfortable, especially when you’re in your opened garage out for your neighbors to see.
You’re not sure how much time has passed but he’s already claimed the territory in the middle of your legs, towing you close with a grip on your thighs. Placing the palm of his hands on either side of you on the car, he grins cheekily after pulling out of the kiss, heavy pants against each other’s face.
“Did my boss just make-out with me?” You slap his chest, rolling your eyes in unison. “Stop it. I know you’re enjoying this, I feel it.” Wrapping your arms around his lower frame, you pull him close, pressing your crotch against his as his groans. “Now you stop it. I’m not taking you here.”
Junmyeon is a gentleman. He declares that he wouldn’t be taking you anywhere near the bedroom until he takes you out on a proper date, in spite of the fact that you both had broken his rule of no kissing and no sex before a date.
If you thought that you had everything you wanted before, you were wrong. Not until you met him.
Tumblr media
“I met my soulmate.”
Straightening the paperwork on your desk, pretending to preoccupy yourself from this conversation and stay cool, you place the manila envelopes flat back on your desk, eyes eventually locked on the figure in your office. “Okay?”
“This means we can’t go back to what we ever were again...”
Feelings of uncertainty arise in your stomach—it’s obvious it’s jealousy. Was it because he found his soulmate and he was never coming back or that you haven’t even met yours?
Eunwoo stands in the middle of the room, hands in the pockets of his dress pants, contemplating what to say next.
“We’re not together anymore.”
He knows this—he knows this so well with the amount of times you remind him that it’s embedded in his brain, nonetheless in the general picture of things, Eunwoo always thought that you’d find your way back home and into his arms. He’d tell you this, despite the amount of times you’ve rejected him, but hearing now that he really won’t come back because he has a soulmate hits different.
Maybe Eunwoo had been a back-up plan. There’s never 100% bliss in a relationship, and you never saw yourself getting married to him and having kids but the thought of having Eunwoo in the back of your head meant that even if you didn’t find ‘the one,’ Eunwoo would be the replacement. It sounds fuck-up, it all sounded fucked-up but who would love a woman who ran an entire company by herself and barely have time for anyone else in her life?
“It means... I officially can’t come back to you anymore and you can’t expect for me to fall back into your hands like putty. I’m done... but it doesn’t mean I don’t love you anymore.”
“I know, Eunwoo.”
“It’s just— it’s my soulmate.”
“Don’t miss out on that opportunity.” You say sternly.
Thwarted by your reaction, he snaps. “I’m so sick of this. I should’ve just given up sooner—I’ve been in your life for 6 years, we dated for 3, and you can’t even be happy for me? You can’t even tell me that you still love me although you’re the one who left me?”
Head dropping onto the back of your chair, you close your eyes for a moment. “Eunwoo, I’ll always love you, I never thought I had to remind you of that. But we never worked out, we stopped clicking after a year in. We’re on different pages, we’re doing different things, and I never had the time to spend with you anymore.”
“It wasn’t that you never had the time, you never made time.”
“Don’t say that. I didn’t have time. You never made the effort to spend it with me.”
“What?” He says sharply. “Tell me, what could I have done differently? I want to hear it?”
Running your fingers through your strands of hair frustratedly, you grumble in discontent. “I wanted you to be here with me on those nights I spent in the office. I wanted to have dinner with you here, but you always insisted we go out. I wanted you to be part of my projects, do things with me because we’re in the same field, yet you couldn’t even do that. I wanted you to be around and try in other ways even if it was hard to spend time with each other.”
“You’re the one who stopped trying!”
“I stopped trying when I saw how much effort you were putting into meeting these girls instead of me! How do you think I feel when you’re out buying coffee and delivering it to your co-worker? You couldn’t even do that for me.”
Clenching his jaw, he gives you a look before saying his last words. “You’re right. Maybe we weren’t right for each other.” As he’s walking toward the doors existing your office, you silently say, “She was your soulmate, wasn’t she? The co-worker.”
He turns to look at you, eyes sudden soft compared to moments ago. You were right. You’re always right.
Tumblr media
Junmyeon is handsome in this lighting but it’s difficult to focus on the date with your argument with your ex from earlier.
He planned everything for the night—the lights, the picnic blanket, and wicker basket filled with delicious foods that he had cooked himself, a skill that he had been trying to improve lately since his roommate, Kyungsoo, had left for the military, and Chanyeol moved out to live with his soulmate.
Pulling out two wine glasses, following with a bottle, he pops the cork out before pouring some into yours. “So, what’s on your mind?” Snapping back into reality, you laugh awkwardly, rubbing your arm.
“I’m sorry? Did you say something and I missed it? Nothing’s on my mind.”
“No, something is definitely up in there. I can see it in your face.” Handing the glass to you, he’s taking out the rest of the food from the basket; he’d packed everything from kimchi to kimbap, even cheese and deli meats. There was also pie— jesus, did he have to try so hard to get to your heart? You would be melting in his affection at this point if your head wasn’t so occupied.
“Uh... honestly, there’s something. But I’m not really in the mood to talk about it because it might ruin our date.”
“I’m afraid it would ruin our date if you don’t say anything.” He raises a brow.
Shoulders dropping in defeat, you take a sip of your wine for a boost of confidence. “Fine, fine. Eunwoo met his soulmate.”
Junmyeon nods, lips pursed. “Ah, I see. And you always thought that if it didn’t work out with someone else, you’d at least have Eunwoo?”
You freeze.
How’d he know that?
Almost like he read your thoughts, he’s speaking as he’s unraveling the plastic off the plates and containers. “I can kind of tell. You never fully pushed him away. If you didn’t want him in your life at all, you would’ve asked Johnny and the building to kick him out once he went through the lobby doors. Never happened— he’s even on your calendar for lunch, even if you don’t go.”
“You’re rather observant, aren’t you?”
“So I’ve been told.” He grins, taking your hand and giving it a light kiss. “Listen, I understand. Does it have to do with the soulmate thing?”
“A bit...”
He shakes his head in condemnation, gaze drifting off at the sun that slowly begins to set in the horizon. “I hope you’re not upset because of me just because my ex left me for her soulmate. Not everyone meets their soulmate, you know? So if you met whomever it is, I’d want you to be with them.”
Ugh, Junmyeon is the epitome of a perfect man. It had been a thought that was on your mind recently, although you knew your chances of meeting your soulmate was slim, there was always that chance.
“Thank you, Junmyeon. I feel the same way about you, you know.” With that, he nods in agreement before sticking a fork into the cheese, lifting it up to your lips. “Less talking about sad stuff now. Cheese?” With a smile, you comply with his offer and open your mouth.
Tumblr media
The sun has long disappeared for the night and his friend, the moon, makes an appearance. Junmyeon is even more beautiful under the moonlight, if possible, laying on the blanket with his head resting on his arm as he admires the stars in the sky.
Dinner was amazing— Junmyeon never fails to impress. You have to thank Chanyeol’s soulmate later on for going back to him because if it wasn’t for their bonding, you would’ve never actually met him. The previous year had taken a toll on you; the constant traveling from Japan, China, and Korea was deteriorating your health that you’d spend most of time in your office. Junmyeon didn’t even meet you until about two months ago.
Your mind wanders off. Questions like: ‘how did Chanyeol meet his soulmate’ and ‘what stopped him from wanting to get to know the girl’ or ‘did any of your other friends meet their soulmate’ all flooded your head. You figured the night had been going so well you’d avoid the topic of soulmate and save those questions for another time. After what seemed like a moment, another inquiry lights a bulb over your head.
“Wait... we never talked about this before, but do you have a marking?”
“Of course,” He looks at you confusingly. “We all have markings.”
“But I never saw yours, and you never saw mine.” You clarify, and he nods at your statement. “Well, okay, yes, that’s true. Did you want to see it? Where’s yours?”
“On my hip-bone.” You respond, tugging down on the fabric at the hem of your shirt gingerly. Eyes bulging at your response, his body tenses. “What?”
Meticulously lifting the end of his shirt up, there’s a daisy that sits on his hip-bone and you finally understand why he’s giving you such a strange reaction. Mimicking his actions, you show him yours— a daisy.

His Words Are Pretty (JenniexKai) - Warm Bodies (on Wattpad) https://www.wattpad.com/1387586786-his-words-are-pretty-jenniexkai-warm-bodies?utm_source=web&utm_medium=tumblr&utm_content=share_reading Growing up isn't supposed to be that hard; you have to do it. The only problem was him. Every. Word. I. Held. On. To. I shouldn't have listened, but how could I not? His voice. Those words. Only one word comes to mind. When his words bring her safety, but her presence saves him, there is no room for another love. If growing up is not hard enough, death and time take over. When you think it wouldn't matter to you, it happens when you least expect it.

F4!! BTS x EXO; Chapter 6~
Word Count: 3,571
A BTS x EXO fanfic!!
Based off of the Netflix series 'Meteor Garden' ;
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
Tumblr media
Chelsy sighs as she wanders throughout the halls of school
She keeps her eyes on the floor, replaying the moments from the night before
That was probably the closest she's ever going to get to Jungkook
In the middle of the 'what ifs' and 'if onlys', Chelsy found herself joined by both Namjoon and Yoongi
"You okay, my Chels?" Namjoon asks with furrowed eyebrows, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close
Yoongi looks over, rolling his eyes a bit as they continue to walk
"Let her go already." He says, trying not to sound too jealous
"She's probably just super hung over like the both of us."
"I feel absolutely fine." Namjoon shrugs
"I drowned most of the wine with fruit punch because I couldn't stand the bitter taste."
Yoongi couldn't help but laugh at that, making Namjoon lean over to punch his arm
"Just because your taste buds are heartless like the rest of you doesn't mean we're all like that." Namjoon fights back
Yoongi just continued to laugh as Chelsy looks up between the two before looking back down in a sigh
The three continue to walk down the hall when suddenly-
Their attention fell upon an unfamiliar face
It seemed as though the three weren't the only ones looking as Chelsy noticed everyone else this person seemed to walk by ended up doing it as well
"Who's that?" She asks, admiring how elegant the girl's vibe was
The small girl just keeps up a soft smile, waving at the people who were looking
She continues to walk when suddenly she sends Chelsy one as the two meet eyes
Chelsy lets out a small smile in return as her attention follows the girl walking past her
"She's so beautiful." Namjoon gulps
"I've never been that close to such a pretty girl before." He continues before being snapped out of the moment by Yoongi slapping his chest
The three watch, lifting their eyebrows when they notice F4 standing on the other end of the hall
It was almost as if they were waiting for her
Chelsy steps to the side to get a closer look
The girl stops right in front of the boys and not even seconds later Sehun was quick to walk over and pull the girl in a hug, having both Baekhyun and Lucas join in the process
"It's so good to see you again, Rosie." Sehun smiles, embracing the small girls hug
She just laughs in response before returning the tight hug from each of the three excited boys before her
"It's been so long." Baekhyun sighs
"I thought you weren't coming til after your birthday."
Rosie just places a hair behind her ear, keeping up her smile before replying
"I booked my ticket a little bit earlier." She shrugs, letting out a small scoff
"I just felt like I needed to spend my twenty-first here." She nods
"With you guys."
"And-"
She pauses a little, leaning to the side and the rest of the group already knew what she had meant by that one simple word
Lucas quickly pushes the other two dudes out of the way before stepping aside himself and revealing the last member on the other end, patiently waiting for his turn
Rosie smiles nervously, slowly walking up to the boy
As the two meet eyes, Jungkook couldn't help but let out a big teethy smile, instantly making the two pull each other in a very tight hug
Jungkook rests his head in the nape her neck, picking her up and spinning her in the process
The rest of the boys stay aside, chanting quietly for the two
"I missed you." Jungkook admits, holding her tighter
"I missed you too." Rosie replies, sniffing a bit as they finally pull away
"Hey, Kook!" Sehun calls out
"Shall we leave you two be already or can we have a turn now?" He teases, having the two snap out of the moment, now facing the rest of the group
"I'm so glad to be here with you guys again." Rosie confesses, rubbing her hands together
"I just know you four will make my birthday so special."
She smiles their way
"We need to catch up over dinner." Baekhyun suggests
"And most likely over some drinks." He adds
"You can't squeeze in six months without our Rosie into just one meal."
"He's right." Lucas agrees
"Fujis?" He suggests
"It's on us! As a welcome home gift!"
Rosie just smiles in return, about to decline when she met eyes with Sehun, who automatically nodded in reassurance
"Rosie, let us prove to you how responsible we became since you left." Sehun says, smiling a bit
"You'd be surprised at how much restraint I have towards a lot of things now a days."
"Yeah, barely." Lucas snorts and Sehun just furrows his eyebrows at the boy- having Rosie let out another laugh
"Okay, fine." She gives in
"But please nothing too expensive."
She waves a hand
"It's not worth it."
Baekhyun rolls his eyes at that, walking over to place an arm around her shoulder
"For Rosie? Anything is worth it." he smiles and Rosie just scoffs before pushing his figure away, having the rest of the group laugh along with
Chelsy continues to stare at the interaction between the five, tensing up a little when she notices how tight the hug was between her and Jungkook
She had hope, although majority of her mind and body already knew who she was
'The girl from California'
She sighs
'This is what he meant'
"Who do you think she is?" Namjoon asks, looking between his two friends
"And do you think she's single?"
Chelsy shakes her head towards her friend before listening in again
"It seems like she's an old friend of some sort." She guesses, even though in her heart she knew the actual truth
She was just hanging on to that one percent of being wrong
"Her and Jungkook seem to be close." Namjoon comes in again
"That's because they are." Yoongi replies, joining in
"That's Rosie Payumo."
"Baekhyun and Lucas mentioned last night about her arrival."
He lets out a little breath, watching the five interact
"Apparently she's back from vocational school in California, and now she's staying here for good to finally be with Jungkook again."
'To be loved by Jungkook ' Chelsy thought
'It was all I ever wanted '
Chelsy stands there, feeling her heart break more at everything, but before she could get scolded out of worry from her two friends, she was quick to beat them to the punch and throw her fake smile up
"Come on!" She motions, now jumping a little to block their view
"Let's go get lunch." She suggests
"I don't know about you two, but I'm starving!"
She lets out a friendly laugh, brushing past the two
"Uh, Chels?" Yoongi calls out before she could walk any further
"Hm?" She answers, turning around to face her friend
"The lunchroom is this way." He mentions, pointing towards the opposite direction
Chelsy looks at him before holding up her smile again- letting out another fake laugh
"I knew that." She waves a hand
"It's such a big school- I just got confused for a bit." She then continues, trying to save herself as she brushes past them again, this time a little more quickly
The two friends glance at each other before shrugging it off, following her
Jungkook stands close to Rosie, still trying to cope with the fact that she was finally here
All those letters and FaceTime calls, staying up late just for her to wake up, has finally paid off
He could gladly say Rosie Payumo is back for good, and this time there was no way in hell he was going to let her slip out of his hands again
In the middle of Baekhyun telling a funny story of what happened while she was gone, the boy noticed a familiar figure walking their way
He smiles a little as notices it was Chelsy, but it soon disappeared when he sees that she was looking directly at the floor
He watches her brush past him and disappear down the halls
He couldn't help but develop a slight worry for the girl
"Is that okay with you?"
Jungkook quickly snaps back to reality as he finds himself meeting eyes with Rosie
She sends him a small smile, having Jungkook instantly smile back in reassurance
"What was that?" He asks, looking at only her
"Sorry, I got distracted."
"I think Rosie's arrival is gonna hit him harder than the rest of us." Baekhyun teases, and the rest of the guys let out small laughs as Rosie just smiles with blushed cheeks
"I was asking if it was okay with you, to go grab lunch?" She repeats the question
Jungkook did nothing but instantly agree, nodding
"Great!" She smiles, clapping her hands
"I'm starving." She laughs, then grabbing Jungkook's hand and pulling him
The boy automatically links their fingers happily together, catching up with her pace and holding her close
"I'm glad Rosie's back." Lucas admits as they follow from behind
"I was beginning to worry that Jungkook hyung forgot how smile." He jokes
"Her arrival is good for the boy." Baekhyun adds in
"Especially since it's our last year here." He says
"Maybe he'll finally be able to focus on his music this time."
"Speaking of music-" Sehun says, coming in between the two
"You heard the girl, she wants a big party for her twenty first."
"What does that have to do with Jungkook focusing on his major?" Baekhyun squints
Sehun just sends him an 'are you stupid? ' look
"We're hiring a DJ?" He says in a ' duh ' tone
"DJ's play music?"
"I'm pretty sure we were talking about a different type of music and you're just trying to squeeze in the fact Rosie put us in charge of her birthday." Lucas laughs
"Because it's true!" Sehun defends
"Why else would she really come back for good?"
Baekhyun and Lucas look at him before looking towards the couple in front of them, smiling at each other as they approach the lunchroom doors
Sehun stays quiet as they let out another laugh, walking past him and towards their other two friends
Chelsy lets out a light breath, following her two friends to find a spot to sit at
"You were complaining about how hungry you were, and all you got was a salad?" Namjoon asks, looking at the bowl on her tray
"Yeah, my appetite changed when we got here, I guess." She lies, letting out a small laugh
"And are you sure you're okay?" Yoongi now asks, coming in
"Because you put your dressing on before sitting down." He says
"People don't usually do that."
Chelsy looks down at her filled bowl before sending a reassuring smile
"I'm fine!" She replies
"I just wanted to try something different." She shrugs, keeping up her smile
Yoongi just furrows his eyebrows a bit before looking ahead
Chelsy takes a look at his side profile, smiling to herself when suddenly she was bumped into by someone, having her bowl splatter all over her top
She looks down at herself drenched in salad dressing and leafs before looking up to meet eyes with Sehun, who seemed more focused on his shoes than anything else
"You idiot!" He yells out in anger
"Do you not have eyes?"
Chelsy was quick to help- which in her case- didn't work out at all
"I-I'm sorry-" She panics, placing her tray down on the closest table
"Here, let me try to-"
She grabs some napkins, about to lean down when she finds herself slipping completely on the puddle on the floor and falling flat on her face
Sehun just looks at her, letting out a loud laugh as she lays there, trying to get up
"You don't know how to use your eyes AND you're clumsy?"
"That's a win win for me."
He smiles before letting out another obnoxious laugh
Chelsy continues to stay in her position, embarrassed
Her palms started to clam up as her face turned bright red
She felt the tears starting to fill up, but just as she was about to get up, she feels her arm being supported
Looking up, she notices Jungkook at her side
He sends her a reassuring smile, keeping her close
"Are you okay?" He asks in worry
Chelsy meets eyes with him, unable to find the words to respond
"Come on." He says, pulling her
"We need to get you cleaned up."
Chelsy stays quiet before looking to her side to see not only everyone staring, but Rosie watching with a concerned look on her face from next to both Baekhyun and Lucas
"You're not seriously thinking of helping her, are you?" Sehun asks, looking at the two
"Jungkook- she ran into me." He tries to defend
"If anything, I should be the one who needs help, not some clumsy, stupid-"
"Stop calling her names." Jungkook interrupts coldly
"She has a name and she has feelings too." He defends
"And I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be much of a problem for you to go buy four other pairs of the same shoe."
Sehun and the rest of the lunchroom seemed to be in shock at the usually quiet boy standing up to not only his bestfriend, but one of his elders as well
But that was the last thing on Jungkook's mind as all he could really focus on was getting Chelsy out of there and cleaned up
Just as he was about to walk Chelsy out gently, he was stopped again
"If you walk out of this classroom-" Sehun begins to warn, trying to dominate the fact that he just got told in front of a lot of people from his younger friend
"Especially with her-" He pauses
"Don't think out friendship will just automatically mend after this."
"I'm not counting on it, hyung." Jungkook replies in the same cold tone
He avoids eye contact with everyone before leaving the room with Chelsy by his side
"You didn't have to do that." Chelsy sniffs as Jungkook shuffles through drawers, handing her a few towel cloths
He doesn't say a word as Chelsy continues to start up the conversation
"What is this place, by the way?" She asks, looking around
"It's F4's hangout room here." Jungkook replies calmly, now watching her clean up
"Sehun hyung bought the room when we were sophomores here."
He takes a few steps towards her, grabbing the cloth out of her hand and wiping her shirt for her before answering some more
"And I did." He says, referring to her first question
"Sehun could be a complete ass." He admits
"I'm tired of him always getting away with everything just because his family is well known."
He rants a little, focusing on the stain
"He's a really good friend, but he needs to learn more about being a decent human being."
Chelsy's breath hitches a little at how close Jungkook was to her
She begins to feel goosebumps as his fresh laundry smell brushed past her nose and overpowered the uncomfortable smell of salad dressing
She smiles to herself, beginning to feel nervous at the fact it was only them two in such a quiet room
She was about to say something when they were both joined by a familiar face, ruining Chelsy's perfect moment alone with Jungkook
"I was hoping you two were in here." Rosie's soft voice comes in, catching the two's attention
Jungkook smiles wide at the girl, leaving Chelsy's side to accompany her instead
"What are you doing here?" He asks and Rosie smiles up at her boyfriend before looking past him and at the girl sitting on top of the coffee table
"I'm here to help." She replies, taking off her backpack
She unzips it open, pulling out another outfit
She walks up to Chelsy with the items, gladly offering it her way
"What Sehun did earlier wasn't cool at all, and no one deserves to be treated that way." She says, meeting eyes with her
"I apologize for my friends behavior." She bows
"I grabbed a few items from my luggage." She continues
"I was going to go out and buy a brand new outfit for you, but I didn't think I had time to come back before you left."
Chelsy looks at the girl before her and the outfit in her hands, completely speechless
She was apologizing for her friend, and even offered to buy a brand new outfit for a girl she barely even knew
Chelsy didn't think that such nice people like this actually existed
"I-" Chelsy sniffs
"I don't know what to say." She breaths, now meeting eyes with her again
"I can't take these-" She begins to decline
"Yes you can." Rosie interrupts, letting out a soft laugh
"It's my offering."
She gives Chelsy a nod of reassurance before the both of them were joined in by Jungkook at Rosie's side
Chelsy notices how Jungkook's eyes were glued on her, smiling in admiration
Now she knew why Jungkook was like this
Because his girlfriend was the same way
Rosie offers a hand towards her
"Come on." She smiles
"I'll help you put it on." She motions
Chelsy does nothing but place a hand in hers, getting up and off of the coffee table
She then sends Jungkook a small smile as the two stop in front of him
"Why don't you head on over to class?" She suggests
"I could handle it from here."
Jungkook just smiles down at her
"I'll check in with you two at the end of lecture." He replies
He then steps back, sending both a respectful bow before walking towards the exit and out the doors
Chelsy stands there awkwardly as Rosie turns around to face her with a wide smile
"Well, let's go!" She says, letting out an excited giggle before grabbing her hand to lead her to the bathroom
Chelsy looks at Rosie, watching as she opens her makeup powder- dipping her brush on top and placing the makeup lightly on Chelsy's face
"You really didn't have to do all of this." Chelsy repeats the same words
"It's no problem at all." Rosie replies, smiling
She stays quiet for a bit, grabbing her on the go lip gloss, opening it and placing it gently on her lips
"After what happened in the lunchroom, I could tell Jungkook really cares about you." She says and Chelsy couldn't help but be thrown off guard a little by that
"He's never stood up to Sehun before." She continues, keeping up a smile
"So a special friend of Jungkook is a special friend of mine."
Chelsy's heart began to feel warm at her nice words and suddenly she started to regret all her feelings towards the boy
"What's your name by the way?" She asks, snapping her out of the moment
"Chelsy." She replies
"Rosie." The girl introduces, lending a hand her way
Chelsy just smiles, taking the offer and slightly shaking her hand before the two let out small laughs
"Will you be busy anywhere near the second of next month?" She asks and Chelsy tilts her head a bit before answering
"I'm not too sure." She shrugs
"Probably not."
"Good." Rosie responds, sending her a bright smile
"Because knowing Sehun and them-" She pauses
"A huge party is already well planned out in their heads, and I already know I'd be more comfortable with you by my side."
Chelsy was thrown off a bit at the invitation
She couldn't think that far ahead, considering everything that's already happened was nowhere near on her agenda of how her first days of college were going to be
But nevertheless- for some reason, Chelsy trusted Rosie
"Are you sure you want me?" She asks and Rosie couldn't help but laugh at that
"You're interesting, Chelsy!" She says, pushing her a little
"I don't have a lot of friends who are girls over here." She continues, now sending her a gentle smile
"One of the reasons why I moved in the first place was because most of the girls here were so far up these dudes asses that my feelings were never put into consideration." She confesses
She sends one more smile towards Chelsy before finishing up her story
"Although it was really hard for me to leave Jungkook-"
She sighs
"I just couldn't bare the feeling of being unwelcomed, you know?" She looks over at her
"I completely understand." Chelsy agrees, relating on a deeper level
"I'm glad." Rosie scoffs with a wide smile
She nods back, placing her hands on top of Chelsy's
"And that's also another reason why I followed my heart into helping you." She says
"Because the feeling of having everyone talk down on you is something I would never wish upon anyone."
She squeezes her hands a little
"I just wanted to show you, you're not alone."
At that moment Chelsy couldn't help but pull Rosie into a tight hug, in which she gladly gave in, hugging her tighter
Chelsy smiles to herself, slightly excited on what the rest of her days were going to be like from now on
Especially with a girl like Rosie by her side
