cody says they don’t have monster movies in 2105 and i think it’s cuz, with all the aliens/mutants walking around, monster movies are very outdated and considered racist. like, the ENTIRE concept is “this thing looks different and scary therefore IT’S EVIL.” no wonder they went out of fashion

WIP Wednesday

Hi everyone! I finally have WIP for this WIP Wednesday, and I was tagged by: @marivenah, @nightbloodbix, @cloudofbutterflies92, @cassietrn, @theelderhazelnut, @socially-awkward-skeleton, and others. (Sorry y'all! I've been tagged quite a few times.)

I've mainly been working on my gift for the Resident Evil Valentine Exchange, and it's been a little rough. It's my first time writing a Reader Insert, and it is definitely more difficult than thought, but I'm going to do some major edits. The second draft is always where it starts to come together for me.

However, while I've been working on that, I've also been picking at the fic about the first time Rooney and Yorinobu really get to talk with one another. Here's a little snippet from that, a flashback within the fic:

“Almost done, Shepard,” Elias says, tweaking some of the internal components of their mechanical arm, “Then, you can go to your physical therapy appointment.” Rooney doesn’t respond, not that they ever do. The Arasaka staff learned very quickly that Rooney will not speak unless they need to. And for some, it’s more frustrating. At their last therapy session, their therapist left in tears, begging them to speak, to just say anything. But they couldn’t or more accurately, Rooney wouldn’t. They hear footsteps, someone coming to the doorway. Elias looks up, eyes widening. “Yorinobu-sama!” He exclaims, getting up to bow. “I didn’t know that you were coming to visit.” “Last minute decision,” Yorinobu says, a laissez-faire tone to his voice, “I was curious about the old man’s new project.” Rooney’s eyes meet his, dark brown eyes hidden behind black square glasses. For a few seconds, they hold his stare, unafraid of him. Yet, they’re still the first to look away, returning their gaze to the blank spot on the wall where they’ve been staring throughout this whole appointment. “Don’t mind them!” Elias excuses, shooting Rooney a small glare. “They’re just like that.” “Like what?” Out of the corner of their eye, they catch Elias glancing nervously between them and Yorinobu. “Silent,” He says, honestly, “Sometimes, I think that the security robots are more human than Shepard. Guess that’s probably what makes them a good soldier.”

I've also been taking some screenshots in Cyberpunk too, and I thought I would share some of my favorites. I think I'm gonna post a few; haven't decided on the shippy ones though:

#also there's a whole worker village and I doubt any trans employees had time to gather their things #though with the level of character accuracy in this show I think if they were going to include a trans character #they'd use a trans VA #jwcc #jwct #I don't know if veterinary estrogen would even be usable #so it would probably just be a “the Kids Raid the Doctor's Office” thing #but I don't know enough about these matters to speak on them or fic them

very happy Matt decided to clarify his stance on the genocide of the Palestinian people rn. Pretty unhappy with the way he worded it, who he centered in his video, and disappointed to see the responses to it on Twitter.

kinda scared to even post about it bc CR fans can get so defensive about their favorite white people that they can often leave little room for criticism or nuance. but man I have thoughts.

#lemme just say. if you have a public platform that has set a precedent for philanthropic work. messages of positivity and love.#and have called attention to various political and social conflicts *in stream*. & whose employees and cast members are vocal #on socials about political topics #then it is NOT unreasonable for fans to expect them to address one of the deadliest orchestrated conflicts in recent history #a literal genocide is happening. thanks in part to the US.#it is good that they donated as a company and as individuals. so good!#but to everyone saying that publicizing good deeds like donations is virtue signaling or demanding CR cast to show their support is #or that activism shouldnt be all about what you post bc then it becomes performative #are kinda missing the point. and theyre not listening to palestinians at all #a huge issue with this conflict & the way its being received in the western world - ESPECIALLY the US bc of its partnership w israel -#is the sheer amount of disgusting minsinformation and propaganda convincing ppl this genocide is either not that bad or that its necessary #everyday citizens CANNOT change foreign policy. we cant do anything!#so what have Palestinians been asking us to do?? SPREAD AWARENESS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. MAKE PEOPLE AWARE. UPLIFT PALESTINIAN VOICES. SHARE LINKS #SHOW PPL THE TRUTH.#and yes its hard! its difficult to watch what theyre going thru. but we HAVE to.#i didnt rlly like matts statement. he said he didnt have the spoons to engage in the discourse. which i get. god i get it.#but ive also seen many many creators/influencers who are also disabled or whose families are directly involved gather their spoons to help #and no one was asking CR to harm themselves in the name of helping palestine. we only wanted them to spread awareness #bc the comments on their tweet about finally donating were full of mostly white centrist takes not able to see any benefit to donating or #addressing the issue at all. which is EXACTLY why CR should addresss it. bc they can reach so many who dont understand #but theyd been radio silent for almost 5 months. i didnt like that he didnt really apologize. i didnt like that he centered himself #i didnt like his lowkey flippant language either. saying all that.. ridiculousness in regards to a genocide not well worded.#but i dont feel right holding that against him. should he have thought it through better? sure but i get it #& unfortunately his parting message left a bad taste in my mouth - one of positivity & self care & hugging each other #nice important words but it didnt feel like he was talking about ppl who are affected by this conflict. but rather ppl who are watching #it just felt like a very white thing to say in response to this. we are not burdened and easily victimized bc of it #we are responsible. and so we must center palestinians.#if i were him i wldnt have gone in detail about how hard the palestinian genocide is for me to watch.#but thats just me #*CORRECTION: radio silent for almost 4 months

Got fucking fired 10 minutes after walking into work on Monday. I was still in my freakishly long probationary period (15 months! could be up to 24!), which is very intentional so they can drop you on a whim for no given reason effective immediately. It's happened to my coworkers and now it happened to me.

#i'm happy with how i handled being absolutely blindsided by it and how i feel justified in my anger #bc this is bullshit #wasn't even allowed to gather all my PERSONAL ITEMS #just 'take what you can carry'#'you're being escorted out of the building tell me what shit you still have left and it'll be boxed up for you to pick up at a later date'#jfc no wonder you have to deal with so many ex-employees writing bad reviews everywhere #so yep that's where i'm at rn #baby's first termination #work snafu #snafustuff

found sooooooo much stuff at work 2day omg!!!!! literally EIGHT books and the sound of music soundtrack + ella fitzgerald vinyl + gloria gaynor vinyl + 2 in 1 sinatra vinyl + LABI SIFFRE VINYL <33333 (AND ALSO one of the books is i know why the caged bird sings by maya angelou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

#other books are the watcher in the shadows by carlos ruiz zafón jazz by toni morrison clap when you land by elizabeth acevedo les misérables #gather together in my name + singin' and swingin' by maya angelou also & a thousand splendid suns by khaled hosseini <3333 #ALSO i saw bruce springsteen's born in the u.s.a. but yday & i though i'd take it later bc that's easier for my coworkers but then it was #gone :(((((( LITERALLY I SHOULD'VE KNOWN...to think i could have owned a bruce springsteen LP...it was good quality too.....#and got a pair of pants but less excited abt that bc like. they're pants. BUT i did get them for €3.25 instead of the original €14.25 :3 #also the books & vinyls weren't that expensive <33 and i get discount on top of that bc i'm an employee <333 #so pretty happy 2day! despite the fact two of my fave coworkers are going on vacation for two weeks like literally don't leave me alone..😔.

METRO THEATER LOBBY REFERENCES

popcorn/concessions. side note NO ONE IS THERE??? do you prepay for the festival and get unlimited snacks??? what if someone just walks in and steals the popcorn???

there’s a stairway in the lobby that goes up to a balcony level in the theater/auditorium, apparently. looks like they only have one theater though

this place looks like a genuine theater built back in 2005, given that it’s located downtown (and by downtown i mean downtown since they had to fly down to get there). also it’s old and dilapidated and has missing paint and cracks and shit
