oh whats that? Murder Drones Dragon!AU? Yeah?? Anyways I had a little blackout today and uh... doodles this... here you go. I even have a lil concept for it, teehee. Maybe I'll do more with it besides these doodles.

Anyways, lore drop time!!

In this AU, Dragons are a mammal-based species living on Copper-9, a habital planet similar to Earth (think Proxima Centauri b but Copper-9), where the humans had set up camp in the 3050s to study the species of dragons, which they had done for a long time. Due to the dragons high level of intelligence (on par with that of humans and exceeding it) as well as their similarities in DNA and being both mammals despite the dragons lizard-esque appearance.

Now, in this AU there's no Solver (not as virus, seperate entity or smth like that) but instead there's just Cyn. Cyn is the result of splicing human & dragon DNA, creating the first successful hybrid of both species. The experimentation around hybrids was kickstarted by James Elliott after losing his daughter Tessa in her 20s to cancer, wanting some way to revive his daughter or potentially even clone her with DNA that might help her live longer and healthier (since clones usually also experience a similar fate to their donor). Cyn was the result after many failed attempts and embryos that died off or were barely alive for a few hours/days, and combined a good appearance of the dragon donor and Tessa.

She is however, like other clones, her own being - but being treated as both a "replacement Tessa/daughter" to the Elliott family as well as being constantly used as a 'lab rat' has droven her really bitter. And who can blame her :')) Her body and mind both aged way faster than the usual human, attributed to both her dragon DNA and that of Tessa having been extracted in her early 20s. She's witty, sharp-tongued and prone to violence, which has brought the labratory responsible for testing at edge with Cyn being there.

You see, dragons in this AU all have a pre-destined element they can control to some extend, and they grow into learning how to control this power. Some can breathe it, some can use it similar to how element bending in Avatar worked, some can alter the state of said element through touch or even telepathy. Cyn can control every element to a molecular level, though the 'downside' is that she has to physically touch it for the time being and cannot use telepathy, which doesn't lower the incredibly level of a threat she's posing to basically anyone in her vicinity.

Killing off every human lab worker in 3054, she essentially takes over the lab and becomes her own entity, which is the "Absolute Solver" in this AU. Since Cyn's DNA was also used to inject "willing" test subjects like other dragons and humans, her abilities were spread, which includes Nori - who later passed on these genes and abilities to Uzi. Yeah, Cyn and Uzi are basically somewhat related in this AU. She's her grandmother... to some extend?? I guess?? PART TIME MOTHER???

N, V and J already exist in this AU and they're all workers for the Elliott family, similar to the OG. J is their secretary and was in a secretive relationship with Tessa, which makes the whole ordeal of Tessa passing & a clone being created (which is on the look out to kill people for revenge, whoops) a very emotional affair for her - and she has grown incredibly bitter over this. N & V are her younger siblings, and with N being pretty much the goody two shoes and V prone to spontaneous arson, trouble is pre-programmed.

N & V are both responsible for seeking out so called "wild dragons" (dragons that refused to integrate themselves into human society and argue that their sapient status means they shouldn't be working in such degrading manners, which slay, fuck capitalism and colonization) - and on one of their hunts in 3071 they meet Uzi, the daughter of one of the largest dragons ever known to both socities... and after initially being afraid of her they quickly learn she's quite... well... she's coming after her dad. Uzi however keeps them at bay, and intruiges both N and V with her demeanor, who agree to not harm anyone if Uzi in response shows them "her way of living".

It's not all fleshed out but it's coming!!

some tidbits I'm just gonna toss here:

-> Uzi's thumbs were amputated as a hatchling since descendants of Cyn's DNA were all born with 4 fingers & 1 thumb, while other dragons usually only have 4 fingers. To hide that Uzi's one of Cyn's descendants, Khan and Nori decided it'd be best.

-> N, V and J were labgrown dragons created in the 3050s, which the humans used to create in order to integrate them into human society easier... and exploit them as low-wage workers.

- stutters a lot - "o-ohh that's...well...uhh..." - tries to calm down but his face is still red even after a few minutes - immediately goes to Abigail and Sebastian for advice (they laugh at him because of how he's STILL red) - will eventually muster up the courage to say you're cute too - yeah it took him a day to flirt back but hey it's cute

Sebastian

- "cool...cool..." - help him he's blushing so hard he can't breathe - bro's happy sobbing internally - suddenly motivated to work - crush buff during gaming (Sam hates this HAHAHHAAH) - zoning out, still blushing at 2am

Shane

- ".... huh?" - give him a second, he's processing - he's now at the saloon, staring at his half-finished beer - he probably asked Gus if he found him cute - 100% in denial - next time you call him cute, it'll bump up to 150%

Sometimes I just think about how absolutely TERRIFIED V is of Cyn vs just the solver in general. Her behavior in specifically episode 8 when Cyn is around is SOOO interesting.

V uses her knife hands unnecessarily through the whole show - she uses them just as much as, if not more than, her normal hands. It's probably a mix of show and a genuine defensive habit she's picked up by the time the show actually starts.

Even during episode 8, when she's being emotionally vulnerable to what she believes is N, the knives are out. She's probably tense, both from the fight AND from the emotional weight of spilling these secrets she's kept for ages.

And yet, when faced with Cyn, who she KNOWS is a threat... she retreats the knives, placatingly, and IMMEDIATELY begins pleading. This is V, who has never hesitated to resort to violence before. And it's not the solver itself she's scared of, its CYN. There's a brief moment in episode 3 where, when Uzi's solver activates, V startles and pulls her gun on her. In episode 4, when Uzi is possessed by the solver, V is clearly rattled, but she still has no problem taking action against and fighting Uzi. In these instances, she WAS afraid, but not enough to not be able to take action. But here? Her confidence completely falters. Her first instinct is to make herself as small as possible and try to reiterate that she can still do whatever Cyn wants of her (and she most definetly gets this behavior from having to serve the Elliotts on Earth, and from being disposed of even before that.. do a good enough job, or you can easily be thrown out. Something something, she's never been free, and at least being gleeful about murder means she's ok with it, so therefore she's not being forced!!! Any way to get autonomy back. But that's a side tangent in itself).

When Cyn nearly eats N's heart, V is in no way being prevented from trying to reach him. Sure, J is there, but V is clearly not afraid of J, having just fought her. But faced with the drone she worked so hard to keep safe being at risk, who she'd clearly done so much for... She freezes. Because this is CYN. And Cyn RELISHES mocking her fear, like she KNOWS V won't make a move to stop her.

And even down to what she would have surely thought was when she and N would definetly die, when she is STILL technically free to get up and fly away, she freezes. It's all she can manage is to vainly try to defend herself and keep N's core sheltered. She's too terrified to even move but she's still trying to keep him safe to the end.. (side note, if you pay attention to them once Uzi shows up, you can see she's still covering him with her sword while he's out of commission, which is very cute. Presumably she stays with him while he regenerates, which is why they show up late to the fight)

V is just soo interesting. She tries sooo so much to be cool under pressure and unbothered, but Cyn's presence is enough to stop her completely. Very fun and very revealing dichotomy to her character, and seeing how she effects V makes Cyn much more personally threatening than her just being an entity employing some vague cosmic power manages to do

In my Sort Of Fairy Tale fanfic, Tessa is an important character who appears alongside Uzi as a kind of independent consciousness; her 'soul' converted into the form of a program after being killed by the Solver.

She fights against the Solver after the gala massacre at the mansion, to avenge her family and save N, V and J. Unfortunately, the Solver inflicts a fatal wound on her; one that doesn't kill her immediately. And the entity takes pleasure in prolonging her torment until it skinned her in her final moments.

March Book Reviews: The Witch Roads by Kate Elliott

I received a free copy from Tor Books via Netgalley in exchange for a fair review. Publish date June 10th.

I've read and liked some of Kate Elliott's books in the past, and I was intrigued by the haunted prince premise of her latest new release. In The Witch Roads, Elen is appropriated from her courier duties patrolling the magically irradiated outskirts by an imperial prince who needs a guide across the mountains. But when Prince Gevulin enters an ancient ruin against her advice, he becomes possessed by an entity with his own mysterious agenda...

The Witch Roads is another excellent entry in the guy in someone's head genre (Asunder, A Memory Called Empire), except, intriguingly, from another character's POV. Elen is thirty-something, the sole caretaker of a teenager after the death of her sister, and a courier who walks monthly rounds searching for deadly and infectious Spore. She lives in the backwaters of a major empire, and hopes her traumatic past never comes back to haunt her. Which of course it's going to.

Elen reads as more mature than the usual run of fantasy protagonists, not because of her age, but because of her responsibility for sixteen year old Kem. Kem isn't a plot point to characterize Elen, either. His relationship with Elen is the emotional center of the book, and he accompanies Elen on her journey. He's also trans, not as just a throwaway line, but in a way that demonstrates how his identity shapes his personality, as well as his relationship with Elen and his dead mother. Elen's other major character relationship is her fascination with the haunt possessing the prince. She doesn't quite trust him, but she instinctively sides with him and abets him in his attempt to (badly) impersonate the prince in pursuit of his own ends. Both Elen's and the haunt's many secrets are slowly and tantalizingly revealed over the course of the book.

The worldbuilding is set in a highly formal and ritualized empire which is struggling against the apocalyptic, infectious Spore. There's a complex system of imperial officials, a licensing system for buildings, and a highly regulated road network. Through Elen, we get a first-hand view of the corrupting dangers of Spore, as her profession is dedicated to preventing it from spreading. However, due to her background and personality, Elen tends to hold herself apart from the customs and formalities of the empire. She's overfamiliar, disdains the Interlocutors that high-ranking officials speak through, and has no inherent respect for the imperial family. Which of course plays badly with the original Prince Gavulin's total sense of entitlement and Imperial pride.

Great characters grounded in a compelling fantasy world. Based on the book's dramatic ending, it's sure to be a series, and I'm excited to read the next book when it comes out this November. Recommended for fantasy fans.

In a fit of sappiness, I had this idea after reading a fic that made me bawl my eyes out

Tessa james elliot.

Tragedy twas being born with that last name, despite all the wealth…all the potential “gifts”. But all the expectations were weighing on her, all the prim and proper standards were becoming too much…too many rules for a free soul like her to bare

Cyn, her new name, a new form, revived, despite the only being here for a year, she had watched tessa with, tried her best to comfort tessa like the others did, she may not have been a big brother N or kind V or worrier J, but she did her best as well to help comfort

Solver, An entity of great power, older then the code it made itself into, a being of great data collection, laying dormant in so many other drones, it saw many families, it saw…heart and care in majority for human and drone alike. But tessa’s parents…seemed like a horrid outlier. unfit for the necro-tech gal whom cared so much for drone life.

A night after a particularly rough “pre-gala ceremony” hosted by the Elliott’s as well, tessa gazes out into the night from her window with cyn and solver by proxy by her side, both watch her contemplate a thought.

“I wish….I could just…run away with you all…go off to one of the newer colonies among the stars and never return….heh for me to get out of my parents grasp though, I’d have to in a mocking tone of her mother ‘Be one of those disgusting dumpster drones’ as mother would say” she’d grumble out

Not realizing what she just set in motion with her wording, cyn and solver have the same exact idea.

TLDR: on the night of the gala,helped by the sound of so many guests, tessa is changed into a new drone form as she is pulled away from all the stress under the dark of the night by eldritch kindness, and with everyone else of the manor drone crew also along for the ride, solver hopes to give her a fresh start.

Okay, so with the above, you've gotten off to a really good start, and I hope you do not take any of the following as anything more than suggestions to build off of it. First, I'd want to have her wishing upon the Copper Star system, but I don't know how that would work as far as showing it.

Solver has been working on gathering the humans that it found detestable for their treatment of drones in one Gala, and then hears Tessa's wish. It being an Eldritch Entity of unknowable origins, has always wanted to grant wishes. Eye smile. Head Nod.

So admits the screams of the Gala, with the help of J and V, Tessa is transferred to her new body, a sturdier, more robust form of the DD bodies, and given the designation T for anyone aside from her chosen few to call her. Letting her be Tessa with those she trust, but the ultimate leader of the glorious Drone armies to the disgusting humans.

T likes the body, and argues that some humans should be spared as they were just as poorly off as the drones, or working actively in support of them. Some even get converted to drones as well.

Shortly before the fall of the corrupt human government, to allow for the glorious Solver Reformation, a copy of the Solver arrives on Copper 9, the humans there under the leadership of the remains of JCJensen IN SPAAACE!!! are working to patch it and save humanity. Well, that's what they're supposed to do, the pro-drone element on Copper 9, along with their drone companions are trying to help the Solver know about the resistance, and accidentally awakens something inside three drones: Nori, Yeva, and Alice.

One thing that made me laugh in the comics was Elliott struggling with his cellphone when talking to Tiffany, we needed more moments like that. Tiffany teaching Elliott how to use a phone was such a cute image, I couldn't help but throw a little Pinsty mention in there.

Poor Elliott can't escape people/god-like entities meddling in his relationship.

TMA S3 FINALE (and me screaming)

I don’t know where to start. Maybe the fact that everyone I like in this podcast always dies? Yeah I’ll start there. What the fuck guys. What. Like. What?????

I’m not going into my usual format but holy shit. MAG 119 was like motion sickness but for my ears. The music. I hated it so much. That organ. Tim. Tim. I knew he raised too many death flags, Jesus. Like I’m happy and all for him but GOD NO. AND DAISY??? Though when she started attacking the shit out of Breekon and Hope, I did internally cheer her on. The fact they tried to act as Basira made me wanna scream. Now that I think about it, was Daisy being influenced by one of the entities?? Like The Slaughter?

Basira is so much stronger than me. Like genuinely, I think she got bumped up a couple places just by her sheer logic during 119 and I am so impressed 💀 so much so, I’m wondering if she had like any internal help, y’know??

Orsinov is like one of the most horrifying sounding characters here. The moment she put on Gertrude’s and Leitners voice, I shrieked. Something about the sing-song voice, the way she inflects certain words makes my head spin. Like Michael.

Little backtracking, Martins situation with his mom is like devastating. And the moment Elias started speaking, I knew he was gonna pull out some traumatizing shitty news to give Martin, I hate him.

Fast forwarding: Jon’s dreams

Okay. So. Jon I guess is in some sort of coma and man are his dreams fucked up.

All the people that appeared in there were the people who gave physical statements. Not super hard to figure out but we had Dr Lionel Elliott, Tessa Winters, then Daisy but obviously she’s not there (DAISY 😭), Karolina Górka, Jordan Kennedy, I think the melted woman refers to Jude Perry, the hunters (Julia and Trevor), Naomi Herne and then the pitying figure. The only woman I would think would fit this vague description is Sasha because of course it’s vague, he doesn’t remember her and I’m going to sob.

Bit scared on what Jon is turning into. Whatever it is, it’s not anything good. He’s watching a lot and I guess he’s watching other people’s dreams- or nightmares- and just….watching??? I’d be terrified.

Elias got arrested. Love it. Though, “Be seeing you” I HATE YOU. 🫵🏻

Would be happy but god damn PETER LUKAS has replaced him and I don’t know if that’s worse or better because we at least know Elias’s actions and his limits. We don’t know much on Peter and I don’t like him at all. At least he’s giving them paid leave. And a counselor. I personally need a counselor for this WHOLE SEASON.

When people told me “good luck” when I started getting into TMA, I laughed it off. I should’ve taken it more seriously because I have never felt more distinct and unpredictable emotions than listening to this podcast. I think that’s all my thoughts. Mostly I’m just uhh dying here. I hate everyone and this podcast and I’ll be listening to the beginning of Season 4 tomorrow!

Gonna be playing my first DND campaign!!! It's a combat-centric 3rd lvl one shot though, so I'm not gonna invest too heavily into OCs and instead just yoink traits from my fav characters. Here's the first two ideas. I'll just ramble abt them + a few other ideas I haven't drawn yet.

Forgetful Gnome Warlock:

🌑 Name: Memento, they/them

🌑 Referencing Siffrin from In Stars and Time

🌑 A traveller who, after making a pact with their patron, lost all their memories. Now they wander the lands trying to regain any semblance of a normal life.

🌑 Either Hexblade or Great Old One subclass.

🌑 For the former, they have a sentient dagger with a coin imbedded into its handle. Their dagger patron, who calls themself "Encore", is a showy, sarcastic, and smug entity that loves to mock Memento. However, Encore does everything in their power to protect and help Memento on their journey.

🌑 For the latter, Memento made a deal with the DND equivalent of "The Universe" (I still have to research. Hopefully I can find a great one with comparable strength and theming to ISAT's universe). They still act under their patron, albeit unknowingly. Like it's a habit that they can't get rid off.

🌑 By the end, they'll probably have grown attached to their party.

Morally Grey Human Artificer:

🎀 Name: Bug, she/he

🎀 Referencing Tessa James Elliott from Murder Drones

🎀 An artificer that caused a Warforged uprising and aims to solve it on her own. Has an affinity towards guns.

🎀 Either artillery or battle smith subclass.

🎀 Bug originally went by the name "James Harker".

🎀 She comes from a royal family of humans that relied heavily on (and abused) automatons.

🎀 Eventually, he heard about Warforged and wanted to give life to his favorite automatons. But after making only a few, they began learning how to make more Warforged themselves. Not long after, the manor was overrun by vengeful Warforgeds that aim to wipe out all other organic life.

🎀 James had to flee. She couldn't bear the guilt of having caused a robot uprising, so she changed her name to "Bug" in the hopes of not being recognized. Now, she vows to hone her artificing skills so she can face the uprising head on.

🎀 By the end, he'll have learned to open up to and trust people.

Additional ideas that I didn't draw:

- Plasmoid monk (Goopy Le Grande from Cuphead). There's nothing more to this, I just like the visual and wanted to take advantage of the unarmored abilities.

- Half Vampire half human sorcerer (Uzi from Murder Drones). Listen, vampire is an actual race in DND and the DM didn't set any limits besides "no homebrow". She basically inherited her magic (or her solver) from her mom, so this basically makes her a sorcerer.

- Autognome cleric (Cyn from Murder Drones). You will not be discarded :} It's a choice between the cleric life, death, or grave subclasses.

Aaaand that's all currently. Gonna discuss it with my DM still, but my final decision will prolly be up to whatever role needs to be fulfilled by the party.

He loves his wife and daughter, but after Nori's death wasn't a good father. Good a secret keeper. Previously he was quite cold and cruel, especially towards humans.

Personality: She was a rather playful and infantile person. Was fully careless regarding the use of Absolute Solver, for which she paid. Doesn't shy away from being cruel to drones. Neutral to humans. After her "death" she became more serious and tough. Catchphrase «Bite me!».

an amalgamation of theories i have regarding the plot heavy series in the redacted verse :3

so i'm gonna try to discuss 3 different things here :

1. the timeline and how i see it

2. how blake is probably hush's brother

3. what the fuck is hush

1. the timeline (specifically when the fuck hush's audios are set)

we know that when avior and starlight get back to the overworld, + when elliott escapes, the inversion just happened . with that, i think i've found a few things that can set the events in the timeline

- in "deferred judgement" and "reforming a sadism demon", hush says that closeknit's headquarters in dahlia are empty, and that the dept. "came and scared them away" or raided the building.

i assume that what happened in the newest balance audio was also a raid (blake saying the department cut the power in the building) and iirc we're still in dahlia, so this is the same building that hush says is abandoned in his recent audios.

- in "reforming a sadism demon", hush mentions he's only been alive/sentient for "a few weeks"

this wouldn't have given me anything, but if we recall in sovereign state, avior keeps hearing the same sound effect that we hear when hush tries to explain what he is to doc.

since the closest given timeline is "facing a disaster with your demon lover" (40 minutes post-inversion), and the audios after that are probably, at most, a few days after (since avior has to explain the inversion to starlight) we can probably assume that hush has been created at this point.

this would have hush's audios + the 2 most recent carpe deus audios be set a few weeks post inversion at the least.

2. blake is probably hush's brother

so we know hush has mentioned having a "brother" twice now ('there's a stranger in your apartment' and 'deferred judgement')

we can assume hush probably means that they're brothers in the sense that they were made the same way? because obviously they wouldn't actually be blood related ("i have a brother, in a manner of speaking")

- both are also instruments/tools used by the sovereigns. hush having referred to himself as an "instrumental force" many times, and blake being called an instrument by d'deridahn ('a deal with the fallen gods').

- both also "teleport" the same way (parentheses because its technically not that?). normae mentions that hush can "be anywhere" but isn't rifting, and hasn't seen anything like it before ('getting to know your mysterious stranger'). d'deridahn also says that blake can "be anywhere". both also have the same sound effect when " teleporting".

we also know that hush and his "brother" not exactly on good terms. hush's "brother" knows that hush is different, and that scares him. this person has been hunting hush down ever since he was given form, but since hush is stronger and faster, he hasn't been caught.

- blake is an empowered human being used as a vessel by a sovereign. and with hush, all we know is that there's an "echo" of the ones who created him that remain in him (e & m possibly), but he's also neither demon nor human, and has killed several demons. because of this, we can probably assume hush is more powerful than blake.

3. what the fuck is hush

hush is called an egregore by vega, and while there are many different definitions of this, i think he leans more on the concept of an independent entity created by collective thought, because he always refers to himself as an instrumental force with a linear goal.

with this, i think hush is some sort of entity created by e'laetum and min'ara's thoughts and goals becoming sentient. i also think he's going to be the entity to strengthen the meridian.

hush is actively trying to contact avior, hence why i think he's connected to e'laetum and min'ara. he could've been created by them, on purpose or not. maybe the meridian sovereigns realized a demon and a human couldn't possibly help on their own, and created hush. or were so hellbent on their goal that they accidentally gave form to hush, since he is "the silence between the notes" and has technically existed before, but was only given form recently.

hush's focus is likely to strengthen the meridian, but in order to do that he needs another sovereign. he specifically refers to freeing sovereigns trapped in their prison ('getting to know your mysterious stranger') and that applies to the drove (d'deridahn and others, excluding e & m) because they were trapped there as punishment. but i doubt the drove would want to help after being trapped for millennia, so what now?

well, in "getting to know your mysterious stranger", normae talks to doc about hush, and tries to tell them that hush is trying to take the sovereigns' powers for himself. it's possible that e'laetum and min'ara are aware that the drove won't want to help them strengthen the meridian, so they might have tasked hush to making contact with the drove to take their powers for himself, and to aid the meridian himself.

all that or hush is just a little guy wanting to fuck shit up on elegy LMAO
