Romance is a completely foreign concept to him, and he can't fathom you as anything but his dearest friend. Yet, part of him insists there's something more than just platonic feelings for you.

I am of the opinion that Thistle is probably the most successful and competent dungeon lord in history - managing to hold this position for 1000 years is already wild, but there are many other elements in which he is better than the other dungeon lords we saw. But what stands out to me, and what must be one of the main reasons he managed to do all that, is his unusual relationship with the demon.

I mean, just look at how other former dungeon lords talk about the demon:

And then there's Thistle:

Funny how Thistle's paranoia and autocratic tendencies, which are normally his vices, helped saving him from meeting his end in Lion's jaws. Well, at least until a bunch of idiots barged into his house and freed this abomination he had sealed away for good.

Anyways, I wonder why does he seem to be the only one who didn't give in to the demon's manipulations? Especially since knowing not to trust the demon from the start is not enough – Laios fell for the Lion's manipulation in just one conversation.

Maybe that gentle love and understanding demon was trying to give him was rejected because Thistle only ever wanted that from his adopted family, especially Delgal? Or is it because of the nature of his desires? Mithrun did put Thistle in the "epic" tier regarding the complexity of the desires. The other thing is that Thistle's desires are remarkably selfless and have more to do with what he wants to give other people and not what he wants for himself.

Or maybe he's really just so paranoid and hates other people getting in his business so much that even Winged Lion's influence was too weak in comparison.

I know, there's the possibility that Tochiro COULD be a 30th century reincarnation of Nobotta's spirit, BUT....

There's also the possibility (and somewhat common assumption??) that Nobotta is Tochiro's literal ancestor. Like, genetic ancestor.

Which means that this fella...

This motherfucker living a lonely life in a run-down boarding house struggling to make ends meet and ends up cooking the mushrooms growing out of his pants sitting all wet and musty in his closet...

Eventually ended up with a chick who ACTUALLY loves him and ISN'T just using him or getting scared off by his antics.

And apparently, according to Leiji himself, after the events of the manga, Nobotta ended up working as a whaler and made actual money from then onward and even went back to the boarding house to meet ol Mr. Bird again. Good for him. ^w^

And he also apparently wrote a follow-up about one of Nobotta's descendants at some point. So yeah, he DID eventually have a sex life. He eventually got to bangin' and had at least one kid!

I mean hey, if Tochiro can end up having a daughter with a badass pirate lady like Emeraldas in the 30th century, Nobotta can someday have a beautiful loving wife/girlfriend in the 1970s as well. Anything is possible.

4. Punk — How do you and your f/o enjoy spending time together?

Charlie: We usually like to spend time watching movies or playing video games together. I like going through bargain bins to find horror games, because the best ones are usually the most obscure. 2D: I'm always worried she's going to pick one out and its gonna turn out to be haunted. Charlie: Are you really scared that'll happen? 2D: I really don't need a creepy little ghost girl or, or some sort of poltergiest keeping me up at night. 2D: But to answer the question, I really like it whenever Charlie spends time in the recording room with me. We've got a good dynamic, it makes a real nice workflow. I honestly don't know how she comes up with stuff half the time, but I'm into it. Got a real beautiful mind. Charlie: Aww, you're sweet *mwah!* 2D: Heheh.

10. Gaming tracks — What is a core memory or a memory you will never forget with your f/o?

2D: I'll never forget, one day I'm walking into the studio and I'm hearing this sort of… cacophony of noise. It's real good noise though. It's a bunch of bits of different instruments being mixed together, like a musical smoothie. Charlie: You have such a way with words, you know? 2D: And I walk in, and I see Charlie in there surrounded by instruments, running around and pressing and plucking and strumming, just jamming out. I was in awe. I didn't think a person could move that fast, let alone play that many instruments. 2D: Then, she ran up to an amp, plugged in this electric guitar, and played the sickest riff I ever heard. I was utterly speechless. I was just standing there asking myself why she wasn't the one who crashed a car right into my eye. Charlie: I remember seeing your face, your jaw was on the floor hehe. Charlie: This might be a bit cliche, but I'll never forget our first kiss. 2D: Really? I was so bloody nervous, I couldn't stop shaking. Charlie: You were great, mon amour. It was fall, and he had taken me out on our 5th date. We were standing in front of this cute bookstore we went to where he got me this book I had wanted for a while. It was the sweetest thing anyone had done for me, and I just asked him right there if I could kiss him. 2D: And of course, I said yes.
