Boulder taps the tips of their digits together. "I have a question."
"What do you need?" Blades asks. He's putting up a garland around the perimeter of the basement, something he's been working on for days now. There are tiny little hand made models of their alt modes, trees, rocks, and other oddities that Boulder can't identify, made out of yarn big enough to hand knit with.
They're cute, and quite nice. Really bring a homey air to the place. "I need a bit of code altered."
Blades' helm whips around so fast he nearly falls over. He searches Boulder's face, but apparently doesn't find what he's looking for, because his face sets in a panicked frown and his rotors start flicking erratically. "You can't be serious."
"I'm serious," Boulder says, clasping their hands behind their back. "You're our medic, so I assumed-"
"Boulder, I am a field medic at most," Blades stresses, and some of his loose garland starts to flutter from the breeze created by his rotors. "I have no credentials. Hell, the only reason I know as much as I do is because Heatwave gets hurt so often it's all trial and error! They would never let me into the Academy, you know, they'd probably ban me from ever practicing-"
"Blades," Boulder says gently, but Blades' talking only gets more frantic.
"But code? Boulder, I can barely understand my own code, you really want me poking around in your helm? What if I mess something up? I could completely fuck up your coding, and I couldn't live with myself if I did that, living with unfulfilled protocols is horrible I can't imagine living with something broken-"
"BLADES!" Boulder shouts, and the helicopter shuts up, but his rotors are still flapping.
"Sorry," he murmurs. "I just don't think it's a good idea."
"It's something I can do myself," Boulder starts carefully, holding their hands out placatingly. "I just need a spotter."
The flapping dies down a little. "A spotter?"
"Yes, a spotter." Boulder clasps their hands again, this time against their chest. "Just in case."
"Just in case," Blades parrots, hugging his arms around himself. "What exactly do you need done?"
Boulder chews on their lip. "I just..." they trail off, trying to figure out how to phrase this. The pressure of the air has been changing all day, the sky getting darker, little beads of condensation appearing on their frame- the telltale signs of an oncoming storm. Someone like Blades would be able to better detect the changes in the atmosphere with his sensitive rotors, but Boulder doesn't have anything like that. And well... "I want to quiet a fear response."
Blades' face changes immediately. "Oh, Boulder," he says. "You can't just shove that down, you have to-"
"That's not what I meant," Boulder gently interrupts. "It's a fear response that's useless to me now. And it's going to storm."
"Oh." Blades' field reaches out in understanding, and Boulder brushes it with reassurance from their own. "You're scared of thunder."
"Not thunder. I want to experience it."
"The noise."
"Yeah."
Blades sighs. "Alright. I'll spot."
They find themselves on the floor, sitting with their legs crossed, across from each other. Their wrist ports are open and Blades has unspooled the cable from next to his, handing it to Boulder to let them plug in.
They do without much fanfare, initiating handshake protocols, and then Boulder guides Blades to the corner of their processor where all their instincts from their past as a miner lay dormant.
Well. Dormant-ish.
Where is it? Blades' voice is nice, inside of Boulder's processor. Warm and buttery smooth, but still somehow with a nervous lilt. It's kind of cool, the way it bounces around.
Here. Boulder pulls up the protocol and with it a memory- a huge bang that rattles the cavern and sends dust and pebbles showering down over Boulder and their coworkers. They dive for their positions, curling into balls, preparing for the worst. The fear is bone deep. Blades' very presence shivers with it. I want to be outside.
I know.
Blades' presence seems to hold them steady as Boulder dips their hands into the code. It shifts like water beneath their digits, slippery as they grasp for the strands that connect to their emotional core. They pinch and tie the line with a few more lines- simple things they'd been practicing doing, just extra stimuli needed to activate the protocol itself, like falling rubble, and suppressing it when rain registered as sensory input.
Boulder sighs as they finish up, letting it slip back out of their hands. Blades' relief is palpable, and it washes comfortingly over Boulder, then nestles in their spark even as they disconnect from each other.
"That wasn't so bad," Blades hums, mostly a reassurance to himself.
This is only my second time doing a WxS teaser but I have come to despise them for never being clear as to what member it could be.
Okay so on the one hand, lots of purple and other things that suggest a Rui event. The gems are a big one, originating from the Curtain Call teaser and card set, but there's also the book, which reminds me a lot of the one from the Revival my dream teaser.
On the other hand though, you've got the stars and music notes that are more of a Tsukasa thing. Well, the music notes appear in a lot of teasers actually and don't have to denote Tsukasa, but considering he's the one with a musical background I tend to automatically associate him with them when they show up. Also the song in general makes me think more along the lines of Tsukasa, mainly because Rui tends to get songs with a sort of cool edge to them, and this is more fun and jazzy (something that was specifically turned down by staff when Karasuyasabou submitted his first draft for Showtime Ruler).
(TL from @/pjsekai_eng) The producer specifically mentioned the fact that Tsukasa was their first 4* card so they felt they had a connection to WxS, and daichan literally shouted out "Tsukasa! Banzai!" after the teaser was shown so maybe I'm leaning slightly more towards him.
There's an art deco theme to the teaser as well, but I think that could fit with either of them quite well (though maybe leaning slightly more towards Rui since Tsukasa tends to get more story-based card sets).
Anyway, enough of that. In terms of story again there's not any huge hints we can get. I'm assuming since WxS has just started freelancing that this event will be mainly working out the "what now" of it all. But then again it did seem like the Otoris worked out a lot of that offscreen in Happy Ending, and it's not like they have to really get their name out there after all the promotional shows. The Otoris set them up with a few contacts, but I'm not sure if we'll dive straight into that. Though as I said, a lot of the work for this was done offscreen, so it's not like we're gonna get an entire event dedicated to them doing organisation stuff like Re:START From Here.
The stars forming a vague moon (?) shape towards the end of the teaser caught my eye, I wonder if WxS is adapting a book (given the book + it seemingly being an rmd reference) and this somehow has relevance to that. I can't think of any specific stories though so if there is one involved they probably made it up again.
In conclusion, not sure whose event this is. Even the text is both their image colors, so... yeah. It's certainly an event for one of them alright. Either way they're probably both gonna be 4* so does it really matter at that point?
Rise of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - Power Weapons & Alpha V
When the Rangers morph for the first time, something pops up on the HUDs in their helmets. A transmission from a small crab-looking robot?? He introduces himself as Alpha V, robotic assistant to the Power Rangers and... someone else he can’t seem to remember at the moment.
Alpha guides the Rangers in their fights, teaching them to use their individual suit powers and, eventually, their weapons. He doesn’t seem to remember much aside from basic functions, he doesn’t even quite know where his signal is coming from, but that doesn’t stop him from being an invaluable ally to the team.
Billy is the first to summon his Power Weapon, the Power Lance. As a reach weapon, he’s able to use it to attack at range by thrusting, slashing or throwing it. With some guidance from Jason, he’s able to wield it to great effect.
Next up, Kimberly is able to summon the Power Bow, a longbow capable of loosing pink energy bolts to strike at a distance. To an extent, she can also use it as a melee weapon, however this is less effective than the energy arrows.
Zack’s Power Weapon, the Power Axe, perfectly compliments his sturdier Ranger suit and packs a heavy punch. The Black Ranger is a powerhouse while utilizing this weapon with his forcefield generating suit power.
With her super speed and the Power Daggers, Trini is able to slash and strike so quickly that Putties barely register they’ve been hit before they fall. they also assist with slowing down, as she’s able to stab into the ground or a cliff face without fear of blunting the blades’ edge.
Jason, cornered in a one-on-one fight with Goldar, unable to call for backup, is able to summon the final Power Weapon, his Power Sword. Having trained since he was a little kid, (by swinging big sticks and toy lightsabers, before his formal martial arts training, of course) he’s able to wield it to great effect and sever Goldar’s wings from his armor, severely weakening the zealot and scoring a big victory for the Power Rangers.
However, while the two of them were occupied with their battle, and the others finished off the last of Goldar’s putties attacking the Youth Center, Squatt returned from his recon assignment. Once Goldar returns to the ship, the spiky blue alien announces.
JUST watched a video about the Afton's and I really love their British accents, but I've seen people dislike it so.... I'm curious. Reblogs or comments welcomed, I really want to know people's thoughts on this!
