Jin cut his hand, because he's a clumsy little shit and Namjoon scolds him while fixing him up slower than necesary because he doesn't want to let go of his hand just yet

“…it’s not even that big of a cut,” seokjin says. 

“shut up. it’s bleeding,” namjoon says, blowing gently on the cut on his thumb. “why are you so clumsy?” 

“says the god of destruction himself,” seokjin says dryly. “and i don’t cut myself often but if you cook a lot, it’s bound to happen.” 

“then stop cooking,” namjoon says petulantly. “we’ll get takeout. every day.” he applies ointment to the cut with a q-tip, looking up ever so often to gauge seokjin’s pain level and seokjin really tries, he does, but he can’t help the small winces at the sting of the alcohol . 

“you’d all die of malnutrition,” seokjin says. “can’t have that. besides, i like cooking.” 

“but you get hurt!” namjoon frowns. he presses the bandaid carefully against the cut and wraps it around seokjin’s finger. 

“i’m not a baby, i’ll be fine.” seokjin rolls his eyes. the bandage is in place but namjoon still doesn’t let go of his hand. he’s chewing on his bottom lip, fingers smoothing over the bumps of seokjin’s knuckles and the pads of his fingers. “namjoon?”

namjoon doesn’t say anything, just continues to hold seokjin’s hand. “i can’t make you seaweed soup for your birthday if you don’t let me cook,” seokjin says coaxingly and watches fondly as namjoon’s face crumples in indecision, torn. 

“fine…” namjoon says after a while. “just…be careful.”

seokjin smiles and interlaces their fingers. “okay.”

Couple definitions for how I’m using some of these words for the humans are spaceship cats AU:

Coterie means: a small group of people with shared interests or tastes, especially one that is exclusive of other people. "a coterie of friends and advisers”

In this context, coterie is the overall name for humans who serve on any Cybertronian ship. If there’s a reference to “the coterie,” it can mean humans on your ship and on other ships as a whole; AND the loose organization of support personnel on earth who help negotiate contracts and serve as a (very informal) go-between for humans and mechs.

Cohort means: a group of people with a shared characteristic. "a cohort of civil servants patiently drafting legislation"

In this context, a cohort is the name for a group of humans serving on the same Cybertronian ship.

So you and your however many buddies on the Lost Light or the Ark are a cohort, that is part of the overall coterie of humans on all Cybertronian ships.

It’s also possible you’re the only human on the ship, though there’s extra safety rails built in to the agreements in those cases, because of the potential detriment to mental and emotional health that can happen to more isolated humans.

Either way, humans are valuable and wanted and appreciated, and that comes with protections whether you’re part of a cohort or just part of the coterie.
