New York, Earth-194

“No, Peter! I- I can’t keep fighting for us if you’re just gonna run back to MJ every time!” Felicia sobbed. 

“We were just talking about our relationship!” Peter yells in defense. 

Felicia's hands come up to her forehead, smoothing out her platinum hair back in frustration. “You said it was over, Peter! You don’t need to continue to talk to her, especially not at 8:30 on a Friday in a restaurant! The same restaurant you took me to last week, by the way, for our 6 month anniversary!” 

“It doesn’t matter, Felicia! Nothing happened!” Peter runs his fingers through his hair pacing back and forth in frustration. 

“No! You- you lied to me, you told me you didn’t have feelings for her anymore.” Felicia breaks out into more tears, blinding her. “I don’t want to be ‘the other woman’ anymore, Peter. I won’t be. I can’t keep waiting for you, hoping you’ll finally look at me the way you look at MJ. I’m done.” 

Before Peter could say another word, the sound of Felicia’s grappling hook cut him off. In an instant, Felicia goes back into her Black Cat persona, swinging through the New York Skyline.

It had been 3 weeks since the breakup. 3 weeks of crying, ice cream, and pajamas. Felicia had never taken a breakup hard, she’d always known her worth, but something about Peter Parker was different. It made no sense as to why it hurt so much. She’s been cheated on before, she’s watched partners come and go, but she was able to brush it off like it was nothing. Then stupid Peter Parker had to come and along, turn her into a hero, and break her heart. 

By habit, the sound of sirens outside her apartment causes her to pause her show, and look at the Black Cat suit hidden behind the painting next to the window. 

Felicia sighs, unable to decide if she should cry or scream. Ultimately, she decided to continue eating her ice cream, pushing the images of Spider-Man somewhere out there fighting crime. 

Despite pushing her feelings away, a tear escapes her, sliding down her cheek. Suddenly, chills go down Felicia’s spine. She looks around the quiet apartment trying to figure out what was happening when her tear begins to slide back up her cheek and into the air. The empty pint and spoon along with various items follow suit, prompting Felicia to grab the gun and knife hidden under the couch. 

A bright light emits in the middle of the living room, transforming into a colorful circular object. Felicia’s guard falls, recognizing the multi-dimensional portal. 

“Woah! What’s with the guns?” Jessica Drew, questions as she emerges. 

“You could have given me a heads up instead of scaring the shit out of me.” Felicia rolls her eyes before putting her weapons away. 

“I told you, I’d come pick you up in a month.” 

Felicia’s eyes widened in surprise. “It’s been a month since I’ve last seen you?!” 

“Ahuh,” Jessica responds as she inspects the apartment. “Has it been a month since you’ve cleaned too?”

“Uh- 3 weeks, actually.” 

Jessica whips her head around. “3 weeks?! What the fuck happened, girl!”

Felicia rolls her eyes. “I don’t wanna talk about it.” 

Honestly, she didn’t have to. Jessica could see right through the broken-hearted girl. “You ready to go then?”

“I don’t think I can meet the boss man like this.” Felicia frowns, looking down at her oversized tee shirt stained with ice cream and various mysterious stains from her wallowing sessions. 

Jessica nods, “Shower and change. I’ll help you clean up this shit.” 

It took about an hour for Felicia to clean up and feel like herself again. After putting on her Black Catsuit, she looks into the mirror, smiling for the first time in 3 weeks, feeling like herself again. 

Felicia emerges from her bedroom, finding Jessica standing in the middle of her cleaned-up apartment. “Holy shit, Jess!” She feels like she could cry.

“Yeah, yeah, you’re welcome, hon, let’s go or I'll get a lecture.” Jessica hastily as she creates the portal.

Felicia’s been through multi-dimensional portals a few times before, but it’s still something she can barely get used to.

Nueva York, Earth 838

Nueva York was bustling with life as heroes of the spider society swung and walked around. Felicia felt both excited and overwhelmed. It was hard walking into a world full of people who dressed, talked, and looked like her ex. 

“Cat!” Jessica shouted across the hall to the distracted woman, pulling her out of her trance. “Move!”

Felicia scurried across the main hall, doing her best to weave between spider people. Once she caught up to Jessica, they made their way to the ‘big man’s office’ as Jessica puts it. 

The two women entered the dark, grand office. Felicia spots a platform about 20 feet in the air with dozens of holographic screens filled with information and statistics. In the center stood the back of a blue and red man. 

“Ahem!” LYLA appeared next to the tall man. “Your newest recruit is here.” 

The platform slowly lowers but the man doesn't move. Instead, he touches the holographic screens, causing Felicia’s profile to appear. 

“Felicia Hardy?” 

Felicia was taken aback by his voice. She didn’t know what she was expecting but it wasn’t that. It’s a low, resonant tone that fills the air and commands respect and attention. It has a subtle vibration that conveys confidence and strength, and it's a sound that Felicia finds attractive and comforting. His voice has the power to evoke emotion and stir feelings of comfort and security. 

Jessica nudges the woman beside her, yanking Felicia from her thoughts. “Yes, Sir.” She purrs, easing back into the Felicia Hardy she knows and loves. 

“According to my data, you’re the first spider woman.” The platform touches the ground prompting the man to turn to look at Felicia. 

She couldn’t help but admire the man’s build and height, thinking that the elevated perspective had made him appear bigger. “The one and only.” She smirks. 

“Hmm…” The man thinks for a moment, admiring the beautiful woman in front of him. He’s seen and read about plenty of Felicia’s as they have been a big part in some Spider-Man’s lives. Yet, this Felicia seemed different. Her eyes sparkled and the way she carried herself radiated confidence. “I haven’t properly introduced myself. I’m Spider-man 2099, my name is Miguel O’Hara.” Miguel closes some distance, letting his mask retract to reveal his messy wavy head and stunning brown eyes.  

“Felica.” She replies, making intense eye contact with the man. 

Miguel slowly walks closer and begins to circle her like a vulture, studying his prey. “ According to your file, you only got your powers several months ago. Explain.”

“Long story short, my… Spider-Man and I infiltrated Oscorp. They were trying to replicate the serum and I ended up getting accidentally bit by one of their patients during the fight, but they’re all dead now, don’t worry.”

“Hmmm..” Miguel hummed as he inspected her suit. “Is this your spider suit?” 

“I don’t need one.” Felicia crosses her arms and raises an eyebrow at the Spider-Man. 

“If you want to join the spider society you do. What’s your call sign?”

“Black Cat.” Felicia side-eyes Miguel, predicting his thoughts. 

“Jess,” Miguel looks over to the woman, now sitting in the corner. “Why waste my time?” 

“Waste your time?!” Felicia snaps, turning to look at Miguel. “You need me!” 

“Ahuh.” He rolls his eyes as his mask covers his face, unleashing Felicia's three weeks of pent-up rage. 

“Listen here Spider-Man! I spent 4 months training my ass off, learning my powers, and proving to your little spider society that I’m worthy. I am not going to let you circle me and make assumptions about me based on my outfit and variants! I’ll fight you right now, and I’ll kick your ass!” 

Miguel can’t help but make a small smirk at Felicia’s personality. Miguel steps closer tilting his head down so that his chin practically grazes his collarbone and lets his mask fade. Felica stands her ground looking directly up into his chocolate eyes with fiery determination. She wasn’t going to let some self-appointed leader tell her she wasn’t good enough. 

Meanwhile, in the corner of the office, Jessica and LYLA watch the interaction with confusion. “What the fuck is happening?” 

“I- I really can’t tell you.” LYLA replies. “There’s something there though.” LYLA pulls out her phone taking a picture of the two for future evidence or blackmail before glitching away. 

Still withholding their gazes on each other Miguel eventually snaps out of it only to grumble.  “LYLA, take Felicia to the tailor to make a suit.”. A short smirk makes it’s way on Felicia’s face, silently congratulating herself that she got her way. “We’ll start your training with the other spiders tomorrow morning. Bright and early. As for you ‘Black Cat’ let’s get one thing straight here…” Felicia raises her eyebrow in anticipation, her arms crossed over her chest, her cleavage poking through just enough in the black skin-tight suit adorning her body. “You may be used to playing by your own rules and whatnot but here, this is my playground. And what I say, goes.” He leans back against the small table behind him, his arms now also crossed over his chest, making it hard for Felicia not to notice the way his biceps and arms moved with each breath he took. “Do I make myself clear, gata?”

Felicia unfolds her arms and takes a step closer to Miguel, squaring her shoulders as if preparing for a fight. “Yes, Araña.” 

“And start thinking of new names,” Miguel said before walking back to his desk with a smirk. 

Chapter 2

So, Felicia Hardy mentions having a girlfriend in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and this has resulted in a lot of discussion... I wanna talk about it!

One thing I find really interesting about the conversation is that so many articles discussing it credit Felicia's bisexuality to this moment from 2021, where she and Odessa Drake have an on-panel kiss followed by an off-panel one-night-stand.

While this is pretty friggin' gay and good for them, I feel like reducing the story to "Black Cat kissed a girl in 2021 and that's why she has a girlfriend in the video game" is missing a lot of the larger context... so let's discuss some of the history of Felicia Hardy, AKA the chaotic crime bisexual Black Cat.

Felicia Hardy debuted in 1979. Tamara Blake, her "oldest friend" and female lover, first appeared in 1984, only 5 years later, debuting in the Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man Annual "Cat and Mouse."

Dropping by for a night of "harmless frolic," Tamara robs Felicia, aiming to play a game of cat-and-mouse with her friend. While their relationship is not explicitly romantic in this story, Tamara is portrayed as very close to her ex-partner-in-crime and very familiar with her relationship habits. She is surprised by the reveal that Black Cat is trying to settle down with Spider-Man - and to be skeptical about if Felicia will be able to tie herself down to one man... almost as if she knows Felicia has a pattern of behaviour when it comes to monogamy.

I don't know if this story was intentionally gay or not, but it would be used as a foundation for later queer storytelling about Felicia, so it seems worth mentioning it here!

What is pretty explicit, however, is Felicia's relationship with her partner Diana in the 2002 Spider-Girl series. They are just called partners, not lovers, but the framing and discussion of it is obvious enough that, in my opinion, if you know that gay people exist and can accept the possibility of them being gay, then you probably will read this and go "Oh, yeah, they are gay."

This story does not take place in Earth-616 and is primarily focused on Mayday Parker as Spider-Girl and Felicity Hardy as Scarlet Spider, but Felicity does have two moms - and we love that for her!

Jumping ahead a bit, Tamara returned via flashback in Black Cat #10, released in 2020, and this fleshed out their backstory together. It revealed how they trained together under Black Fox as their mentor and clearly shows them using slight-of-hand to hold hands and canoodle without Fox noticing what they're up to.

This is just a super-cute panel to me. That's such a clever use of slight-of-hand; I love it so much...

The next year, in Black Cat Vol 2 #3, there's a vision of Black Cat surrounded by a harem of her lovers, which includes Tamara and Odessa alongside several of her more famous male affairs.

Shortly thereafter, she kissed Odessa on the lips, as discussed earlier. In case the earlier evidence was not enough for you, Felicia Hardy is now formally unquestionably a girl-kisser. We even later get to see her and Drake's one-night-stand via flashback, in case there was any lingering doubts about what happened.

However, it also doesn't end there. It's not like Felicia just kissed a women, Marvel patted themselves on the back, and now she's been back to dating Peter Parker exclusively. There are plenty of comic characters who have had one defining "queer moment" and mum's been the word on their queerness since then... Felicia, meanwhile, is very loudly bisexual.

Immediately, she got a Pride variant cover in 2021 and has been on at least one cover every year since. My favourite is probably this one from 2022, which is both very poly and also features Peter Parker... I'm sure if you'd ask Marvel corporate they'd say he is just there as an ally, but it's still funny to me.

In 2021, she was the character used for the grand return of Jessie Drake (Felicia really has a thing for women with last names that end with -ake, apparently). Jessie was Marvel's first explicitly transgender character, debuting all the way back in 1992. After getting off to a rocky start, Felicia blows up a building with Jessie's help and they go out for dinner.

(This story was not followed up on as the book it was supposed to lead into got cancelled. Drake has not so much as cameoed since. F in the chat for Jessie Drake).

In 2022, there was an 5-issue mini-series all about Tony Stark and Felicia bonding over their mutual problem of supervillain ex-girlfriends trying to murder them. Of the two halves of the pair, Felicia gets the better deal - Tamara not only teams up with Felicia and Tony to fight Tony's ex, but they do so much flirting that Tony forgets that are not currently dating.

And, finally, in 2023, there was another Felicia story in a Pride issue wherein she hooked up with a pseudo-diety and also worked with Gambit to fuck with some transphobes in the process. Good for them!

This is not by any means a definitive list of everything gay Felicia has done - she famously flirts with MJ and Cindy a lot, for instance - but I hope it provides some larger context to Felicia's sexuality in the game.

Moreover, I hope it shows that queer storytelling isn't always about writing a single gay kiss that generates headlines. A lot of Marvel and DC queer storytelling that goes viral isn't the actual multi-issue multi-comic-run queer stuff; it's the one big kiss or something subtextual that happens to feature MCU heroes with better SEO then people like Felicia have... and I think it's the more under-the-radar stuff that's often more valuable.

Before the blip Peter and Felicia were the same age but Felicia wasn't dusted.

Backstory: Peter Parker doesn't exist anymore, so he throws himself into his vigilante life, that's how he came across the Black Cat, a thief he thought was only legend, he certainly didn't expect to meet a sexy woman clad in a tight leather cat suit. But unknown to him, Felicia was a big fan of Spider-man, even having a crush on him. Before she was Black Cat, she first saw the vigilante when she was on a bus and saw the hero in pajamas stop a car from ramming into them with his bare hands.

Felicia was happy to meet him and the chase he gave her get her heart beating like nothing ever did before. She sneakily followed the hero to where he lived and was surprised to see the hero of Queens living in a crappy small apartment, even more that he was still a young man, a young man who threw himself into danger day in and day out for nothing in return. A young man who was all alone so she decided to do something about it.

That something happened to be sneaking into his apartment when he was gone and waiting for him to return, making him nearly scream in shock at the sight of the same hot cat thief from before in his room. She wanted to talk to him, to understand what it was that made him put on the suit and risk his life.

Maybe it was being alone and having no one to talk to, maybe it was because she could relate in some way but the floodgates just opened and Peter spilled his life, before and after becoming Spider-man. It was good getting it off his chest and Felicia even said she would help him, be his partner, shocking Peter. He tried to change her mind, not wanting to risk her life but Felicia was firm.

After weeks of fighting crime together, the fun they had and chemistry they made, Peter asked Felicia if she would be his girlfriend. Her answer was pushing him up against the closest wall and kissing him like no tomorrow.

Big/Little spoon: I can see Peter and Felicia being either spoon. Felicia liking being held in Peter's strong arms while some nights Peter just wants and needs someone to hold him, which Felicia is happy to do.

Lends/Borrow clothes: Felicia likes to borrow Peter's clothes, knowing she can make his dorky shirts look sexy. Peter doesn't (always) intentionally borrow Felicia's clothes. Whenever he's in a hurry he throws on the nearest top, which happens to be Felicia's. Felicia always gets a kick out of Peter answering the door wearing her size 6 midriff top after rushing out of bed, seeing how flustered he gets when he comes back to her.

Doesn't/Does use pet names: "Hey, Spider~" "Lover" "Big boy". 90% of the time when Felicia talks to Peter, she throws in and addresses him with a pet name, the saucey-er the better since she loves to make him blush.

Introverted/Extroverted: Introverts don't make friends, they get adopted by an Extrovert, and that is the case with Peter and Felicia. She likes having nights in the town and loves to drag Peter with her, knowing that it's good for him, less he start to wallow. She wants to help him get past his grief and take his mind off it. Throw in a chase between Spider-man and Black Cat and they have a wonderful night.

Affection through words/Actions: Peter does a good balance between the two, despite being a stuttering mess most the time, there's moment's hes smooth as butter and knows what to say in order to make Felicia's heart skip a beat. Felicia is use to meat heads or "studs" trying to use cliche sentences just for the sake of getting in her pants but Peter is honest and true in his words only for the sake of making her feel loved and she loves it. Felicia likes to show her affection through actions, be it physical means or gifts.

"Hey, lover. I heard you were low on salicylic acid for your Web mixture, so I got some for you."

"Hey, thanks Felicia!... were you the one who broke into the science class of the Empire State University?"

"...This will be used to help people so Technically I'm doing a good thing."

Confesses first/waits for confession: Peter realises that life is short and can be cut even shorter in an instant, he knew it all to well. So he isn't as hesitant to confess his feelings. Felicia on the other hands is willing to wait for the other to confess before she does, past experience taught her not to open her heart to eagerly.

Screams about/squashes bugs: Neither are scared of bugs seeing as both have dealt with worse but neither squash bugs either. Felicia notices how Peter is gentle and carefully removes any spider in the apartment so she does the same, something Peter appreciates

Drives the car/can't drive: This is New York City. What is even the point? Plus, Peter swings to where ever he needs to go, much more quicker and fun. Felicia also likes swinging with Peter but also likes driving her Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle for casual use but likes to use her Audi R8 for fancier events. (Peter doesn't ask how she could afford the Audi, already having an idea.)

Can't cook/makes dinner: Neither are gourmet Chefs but at least it's edible. They got out to eat many times and easily burn off the calories.

Dislikes/loves PDA: Peter can be shy about PDA. When people stare it reminds him of when Mysterio revealed his identity and when everyone would stare at him. Felicia on the other hands loves PDA, especially when it makes her cute boyfriend flustered. She also likes the idea of letting everybody know that she belongs with Peter, that she was already taken.

Overprotective/Chill going: Peter has lost too many loved ones. His parents, his Uncle Ben, Aunt May and Mr. Stark. Even his friends no longer remember him. He doesn't want to lose anyone else, he won't. Felicia can find it overbearing and frustrating at times but knows what Peter went through and can understand his overprotectiveness but tells and shows him how capable she is. She also knows what Peter is capable of and is more chill about his Spider-man escapades.

Has more/no relationship experience: Peter only dated Michelle for a short time before he made Dr. Strange make everyone forget him and she was his only serious girlfriend before Felicia. Felicia on the other hand has more experience, she was a beautiful young woman in high-school so of course she's caught the eyes of a few boys.

Horny level: Peter is a hormonal teenager with a solid 10/10 platinum-blonde older girlfriend who is taller than him, pulls physical power moves constantly and wears eye-catching clothes, not to mention her cat suit which he knows she lowers the zipper for his eyes. But Felicia instigates the fun sexy times more because there's something about her cute, puppy eyed, easily flustered boyfriend that gets her in the mood, and don't get her started on whenever Peter is shirtless or how his Spider-man suit makes his fabulous ass stand out.

Awkwardness level: Have you seen the MCU Peter? He can be an awkward mess, especially when he first came across the seductive Black Cat. But Felicia is a confident woman and knows it.

Jealousy level: Some meat heads still think they can easily take Felicia for themselves and Peter sometimes worries he isn't what Felicia is looking for but Felicia is happy to shoot those idiots down and show Peter how much she loves him. Usually doing both by kissing Peter silly. Peter doesn't realise it but somehow he has some rizz, his good, kind and loving nature attracting attention from some women he's met and Felicia needs to remind them who Peter belongs to.

Symbiote Black Cat will always be the best version of Black Cat we've ever gotten. This iteration of Black Cat is the peak of Felicia Hardy as a character imo. Insomniac's version of Black Cat is definitely the worst version of Felicia's character. All the best aspects that make Black Cat interesting are never used to their fullest potential. Her lying to Peter about having a kid & randomly outta knowhere being bi with a girlfriend in Paris (lmaooo you can't make up this bad fanfic trash omfg help) stuff like this really made me hate this version of the character.

Meanwhile, Web of Shadows manages to make Felicia Hardy feel like she's ripped right outta a comic book. Her relationship with Spider-Man, while never explored, unfortunately. Is ripe with interesting & fun possibilities for their potential future together. They have a history, and I really wish we knew more about it.

The whole storyline with Black Cat wanting Spider-Man back in her life as a permanent partner in love & crime is the most natural progression for her character but it adds SOOOOOOOO much to her character imo.

The first thing we learn about this Black Cat is that she was in a relationship with Spider-Man before & wants him to be with her again. She's willing to go to great lengths to make him see her in a new light & consider being with her again.

Her plan to take down Kingpin as a sign of her resolve to be good & more importantly to her, get back with Peter is such a simple but extremely effective way of showing off this version of Black Cat.

Web of Shadows will always be my all-time favorite Spider-Man game. Because their treatment of every character from Black Widow to Black Cat is 10/10 perfection. They nailed it. Especially the voice acting for Black Cat is absolutely perfect.

felicia, was feeling extremely defeated after Peter's death. the guilt was eating her up inside, and she found that she couldn't even face mary jane, knowing that she had failed to save the man she loved.

in her grief, felicia debated giving up fighting crime altogether. she felt like her whole identity had been based on being spiderman’s partner, and now that he was gone, there was nothing left for her.

felicia decided to visit peter’s grave; she just wanted to feel closer to him. but as she arrived, she saw someone there already, a young man who looked lost, much like herself.

"hey there," felicia said softly, trying not to startle him.

the young man turned to her, his eyes widening with recognition when he saw her.

"black cat!" he gasped, sounding a little starstruck.

felicia smiled weakly, feeling a little uncomfortable with the attention. "hey," she said. "and you are?"

the young man blinked, seeming to come back to reality. "oh, sorry," he apologized. "my name's miles morales. i met peter before he died.”

"i remember you," she said, nodding. "you were there when we were fighting green goblin."

miles nodded, his eyes filling with tears.

"before...you know, he said he'd help me balance my powers, that he'd teach me how to be spider-man ," he said, sounding desperate. "but now he's gone, and I don't know what to do."

felicia felt a pang in her heart; she felt the same way. peter had been her mentor, her guide, and now that he was gone, she didn't know how to move forward.

"i know how you feel," she said softly. "peter meant a lot to me. if he was willing to teach you he must’ve of believed in you. he believed we could be heroes, and we can do that. together.

miles looked up at her, his eyes pleading.

"but how?" he asked. "i can't do this without him."

felicia understood how he felt. peter had always been there for her, and she didn’t know how to be a hero on her own.

"we’ll figure it out together," she said, offering him a small smile. "we’ll help each other, just like peter would have wanted."

miles was about to accept felicia offer to help him when his spider-sense began tingling, alerting him to something behind him. without thinking, he turned around and webbed whatever was there, pulling them behind him.

but to his surprise, his webbing suddenly backfired, and he was pulled backwards too, crashing to the ground. felicia hurried over to help him up, but both of them were stunned by the sight in front of them.

the man miles had webbed was wearing a full spider-man suit, and for a moment, felicia thought that it was peter laying in front of him. The man was identical to peter, from the slant of his eyes to the curve of his lips.

"peter?" felicia whispered, her voice quivering.

with the cops yelling behind them, miles fumbling for his web-shooters, accidentally triggered the webbing and ended up getting tangled in it. he was yanked back just as felicia began to run, pulling her back with him. they realized that their best bet was to grab the man who looked like peter and swing away before the cops could get to them.

miles and felicia managed to get to the man and hoisted him up, but the cops were almost on top of them. miles tried to shoot a web, barely managing to catch onto a nearby building, but they didn't have enough momentum to make it. they were going to fall.

but then, miles managed to get another web out and shot it at a passing train just in time. he quickly handed felicia the man and took off after her, swinging blindly through the city as fast as they could go.

it was chaotic; peter kept slipping in and out of consciousness, and they had to keep dodging obstacles and buildings to avoid being seen. for a moment, felicia regretted ever coming to the cemetery.

as they swung through the city, he kept getting knocked out, only waking up periodically to mutter things about his own mortality.

after swinging around the city with peter’s unconscious body, felicia and miles finally managed to find a break and swing onto a pole. as they tried to untangle themselves from the webbing, both of them were breathing heavily, their hearts racing with adrenaline.

but as they managed to get free, miles and peter suddenly lost their grip on the pole and fell to the ground face first while felicia landed perfectly on her feet. miles groaned, feeling a little embarrassed as he stood up.

"i see why they call you black cat,” miles said, grinning awkwardly.

felicia just smirked, raising an eyebrow at him.

"oh, you've only just realized that, have you?" she replied mischievously.

miles felt a blush creeping up his neck as he realized what she was getting at. felicia was just teasing him, but he couldn't help but feel self-conscious about his awkwardness.

“where can we go?”

miles brought felicia and peter’s body back to his uncle aaron’s place, a dark apartment. they webbed him up to his punching bag after 10 long minutes of miles straining to get his webs out.

miles and felicia waited for peter to wake up, both of them feeling antsy as they watched him webbed to the punching bag. felicia couldn't help but think about how much this peter resembled her peter, and it was starting to make her wonder why.

as she looked over at miles, she noticed him staring at her. when she caught his eye, he quickly turned away, whistling a tune. felicia rolled her eyes, feeling a little uncomfortable with all the attention.

"this is taking too long," she muttered, walking over to the sink. she filled a bowl with water and splashed it on peter’a face, hoping to rouse him from his unconsciousness.

miles looked at her with surprise, but felicia just shrugged, feeling impatient.

"we don't have all night," she said. "let’s get this over with."

Miles stepped forward, trying to sound authoritative.

"we have some questions," he said in a falsely deep voice.

felicia shot him an incredulous look, but miles kept up his facade until peter lunged forward and thrashed in his hold.

miles looked over at felicia, noticing that she was staying quiet and just observing peter closely.

“why do you look like peter parker?”

peter looked at him for a moment before responding, "because I am peter parker."

miles looked unimpressed. "then why aren’t you dead? and why is your hair different? why are you older?” he takes a step closer to peter, glancing at his bulging belly. “and why is your body different?”

peter look offended. "I'm pretty sure you just called me fat.”

miles waved his hands in offense. "No, no, I didn't mean it like that!”

felicia shook her head, looking annoyed at miles' line of questioning. her patience was wearing thin with peter. finally, she did something that surprised even miles.

"listen here," she said, her voice cold and dangerous. "you either tell us where you're from and why you're here, or die it’s your choice."

miles looked shocked at her words. He thought she was nicer than this. but felicia’s tone made it very clear that she was dead serious about her threat.

peter looked at her, his eyes narrowing. "it’s not that simple.”

felicia stepped forward, her hand on her hip. "make it simple," she demanded. "or I'll make it simple for you."

miles looked back and forth between them, feeling a little uncomfortable with the tension in the room. he wondered if things were going to escalate even further.

“are you from another dimension? like a parallel universe where things are like this universe but different? and you're spider-man in that universe? but somehow traveled to this universe, but you don't know how?” miles blurted out, hoping to ease the tension.

peter looked surprised. “wow. that was really just a guess?”

“this is amazing! you can teach me like peter said he would.” miles was way too excited for felicia’s liking. they didn’t even know if “peter” was telling the truth.

felicia remained impassive, her expression unreadable. finally, she said, "is that what happened?"

peter looked at her, seeming to shrink under her gaze. ignoring her question, he said, “here’s lesson number one, kid. don’t watch the mouth. watch the hands.”

“trust me, kid. this'll all make you a better spider-man.” peter turned to face felicia, “and you les murdery.”

the girl scoffs at his words. ready to spit some fiery remark, her train of thought gets cut as peter glitches. miles jumps to peter’s aid.

“hey, are you okay?” miles asks, concerned.

“no i’m not.”

felicia squints her eyes in confusion. “what’s going on with your body?”

“i don’t think my atoms are real jazzed about being in the wrong dimension. look, i’m not looking for a side gig as a spider-man coach. i got a lot going on in my own dimension.”

"you don't understand," felicia said firmly. "if you don't come with us and help shut down that collider, you won't have a dimension to go back to. kingpin created it, and it's tearing apart reality. we have to stop it."

peter looked at her skeptically. "what collider?" he asked, looking confused.

miles spoke up, explaining the situation to peter. "the collider that brought you here. it’s in brooklyn, under fisk tower," he said. "we have to shut it down before it's too late."

peter seemed to process this information before attempting to leave. "okay, i’ll jump in when it runs and get back to my dimension," he said, making his way out the window.

felicia and miles exchanged a worried look. "peter, no!" miles said, trailing after him. "the point is to make sure the collider never runs again. everyone is going to die if we don't stop it for good."

“ ‘everyone's gonna die.’ that is what they always say. but there's always a little bit of time before everybody dies and that's when i do my best work.” peter argued.

felicia was simmering with anger as peter refused to help them stop the collider. she couldn't believe his lack of concern for the fate of the multiverse.

"peter, you're being ridiculous," she snapped. "you can't just sit this one out and let everything collapse. we need your help."

miles interjected, “besides you can’t do anything without this.” he holds the override key in the air, waving it in peter’s face.

peter’s face turn into a mocking smile. “aw, you have a goober. give it.”

before he could get the chance to grab it, miles pulls his arm back.

“it’s called an override key.” felicia corrected.

“there’s always a bypass key, a virus key, a who-cares key. i can never remember, so i always call it a goober.” peter extends his hand. “give it.”

felicia turned to peter, a look of determination etched on her face. "we need it to stop the collider," she said firmly. "we need it if we're going to have any chance of stopping the collider."

peter looked at her for a moment before speaking. "I need that key to go home.”

“i’ll swallow it.”

miles’ comment caught everyone off guard, and for a moment, there was stunned silence before they reacted.

peter was the first to react, looking at miles skeptically. "don’t play with me." he said.

felicia shook her head, seeming a bit amused. "what? no," she said, looking at miles.

“the collider created a portal that brought me here. and i have to get... did you break this?” peter took a look at the broken key.”

“no, it broke. i don’t remember what happened.”

peter facepalms. “see this is why i never had kids.”

“can’t we make another one?” miles queries.

felicia grabs the key and inspects it. “we can’t do anything. i have to re-steal everything from alchemax now.”

“if we don't turn off the collider after you leave, everyone in this city, my parents, my uncle and millions of others, will die.” miles pleads to peter. “and you're just gonna go home and leave us here to figure this out for ourselves? you good with that, spider-man?”

“yeah”

felicia was growing more frustrated by the second. "you don't get it, do you?" she spat. "this is so much bigger than any of us. if we don't stop the collider, every dimension will be destroyed, and everyone will, seriously, 100%, die. you have to help us."

peter’s eyes flicker between felicia’s stone cold stare and miles pleading eyes.

“alright! you guys win. come on we don’t have a second to lose.”

before the teenagers followed behind him, miles grabs felicia’s arm.

"black cat," he said tentatively. "are you okay? i mean, with what you said before?"

felicia turned to look at him, seeming a little surprised by his question.

"i’m fine," she said dismissively. "i needed to get answers, that's all."

miles nodded, but he wasn't entirely convinced. He wondered if felicia had a darker side to her that he hadn't seen before.

"you don't have to call me black cat all the time, miles," she said, looking at him seriously. "my name is felicia. just felicia."

miles looked a little surprised at her words, but couldn't help but smile back at her.

"okay, felicia," he said. "and I'm miles."

felicia gave an awkward smile, feeling a little self-conscious about their sudden exchange. "uh yeah. i know," she said, looking away briefly.

miles couldn't help but stare at her for a moment, taking in her fierce and determined posture. ge felt drawn to her in a way he couldn't quite explain.

their stare was interrupted by peter clearing his throat loudly, trying to regain their attention.

"hey, lovebirds, are we going to get back to business?" he said, looking between them with a hint of amusement.

miles felt his cheeks flush a bit at peter’s comment as felicia rolled her eyes, feeling a bit flustered.

"right, sorry," felicia said, turning back towards the task at hand.

miles nodded, trying to shake off the strange feelings he had been experiencing. he knew they had a job to do, and they needed to focus on that above all else.

I love me some villain!Peter in smaller doses, but not in a "I wanna take over the worlllld" kind of way, y'know?

His origin story is still the same - spider bite, Ben dies and Peter still tries the whole superhero thing, but this time, Jameson's slander + people hating on him actually gets to him and he gives up out of frustration. The fact that the Fantastic Four (especially Johnny who is the same age) are praised while he's constantly being hated on rubs extra salt into the wound.

After barely two years of superheroing, Peter goes back to his civilian life and tries to live a normal life while Spider-Man fades into obscurity, becoming nothing but an urban legend.

Fast forward to his college days, he's barely scraping by with his pizza delivery job and becomes desperate to get money. While he's cleaning up his tiny apartment he comes across his old Spider-Man suit and goes "Oh, right! I still have superpowers!"

At first, he's against using them for anything bad, because Ben's speech is still rattling around in his brain, but he looks around his crappy apartment and realizes that he doesn't need to live like this anymore. So, he turns to crime just being called The Spider.

He makes himself a new suit (design pending, but it's more stealthy so w a lot of black, similar to the Alex Ross design with a little bit of Superior sprinkled in)

He starts out small - robbing only stores bc he doesn't have enough groceries, but groceries are still not enough to keep him going. He needs money.

So, he *stealthily* starts robbing banks and develops a software to be able to transfer a small amount of money from people with bigger bank accounts (think of Watch Dogs) and while also being a thief, he becomes a black hat hacker and information broker for the other villains like Fisk. Information is power, after all.

At some point, he comes across Felicia and they become partners in crime and in bed

Of course, Aunt May and his friends have no clue that he's a villain and he lies to them that he got a job as the cybersecurity guy at a big company (Alchemax or Roxxon) to keep their servers safe.

The other superheroes become aware that there's a new illusive villain stealing money, expensive jewelry and selling sensitive information that could potentially start wars.

And uhhh, that's all for now ig lol I have more ideas but it's more abt Peter’s tech and how it disrupts the cameras so he's blurry and no one really knows what The Spider looks like. He does like to leave fun/mocking notes on the crime scene to mess around with the cops. I like to think he still cracks jokes and is a silly funnyguy, he's not an absolute sad sack in this AU :3c

Flash   Thompson?   Found   out   her   dual   identity   and   scooted   without   trying   to   talk   to   Felicia   about   it.

Puma?   Wanted   Felicia   to   stop   being   so   independent,   didn't   want   her   to   "backslide"   into   being   a   thief   again   when   she   was   trying   to   play   on   the   straight   and   narrow   with   being   a   private   investigator/security   consultant.   High   key   demeaning.

Odessa   Drake?   Constantly   trying   to   bring   Felicia   under   her   thumb   and   play   by   Odessa's   rules.   Oh,   and   trying   to   kill   her   repeatedly.

Every   formative   relationship   we   see   canonically   repeatedly   enforces   the   notion   that   Felicia   Hardy,   as   she   is,   is   not   and   will   never   be   enough.   That   she   is   the   one   who   is   defective   in   some   way   and   needs   to   change   incredibly   significant   parts   of   herself   in   order   to   have   love   and   support.   Her   crimes   (when   against   non-superheroes/villains/secret   organizations)   are   largely   non-violent   and   targeting   people   who   can   afford   it   and   she   is   constantly   having   the   worst   assumed   of   her   (that   she's   capable   of   cold   blooded   murder,   will   double   cross   her   current   romantic   partner,   is   responsible   for   crimes   she   didn't   commit,   etc).

It's   enough   to   give   her   a   complex,   which   is   why   she   has   an   incredibly   difficult   time   with   intimacy   —   she's   convinced   herself   that   she's   only   good   for   one   thing   in   terms   of   relationships   and   struggles   to   reconcile   with   anyone   wanting   her   as   she   is.

there was this comic scan of mj talking about how gwen got past her party girl persona, and helped her learn to be the kind of person who sticks around when things get hard. it was just such an interesting look into their friendship, and how maybe it could've been more if gwen had lived.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

- they're best friends.

- gwen is a more reliable/safer partner than peter (i'm sorry, y'all. i love peter deeply, but mj has been almost killed so many times because of peter being spiderman. and i know shipping mj/felicia is also hypocritical. but i really do think gwen would've been the best partner for mj if she'd survived). plus gwen and mj would've both been really successful. girl bosses.

i've seen people post stuff about them over the years, and i guess i started shipping them by osmosis?? lol

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

so i confess i really just now started getting into the spiderman comics, so i don't know a ton about them. but i'll try to list some stuff i like about them.

- i like the idea of peter having a partner who can protect him, as well as them. someone who can delegate with fighting crime or watching over aunt may when things get heated. there was a little mini comic in one of the volumes i was reading on kindle where peter's fighting a giant robot, and felicia has the cops chase her around the city so they won't get in his way or hurt him. it was really sweet. and afterward they have dinner and a movie.

- the potential comedy of them being a couple.

felicia being rich and wanting to spoil him, but he is the worst sugar baby in the world. the only thing he will let her buy is food, and that's only when he's like, on the brink of starvation. she has to coax him to her like one of those feral street cats.

them dealing with each other's mutations. with all the funny, annoying, sexy things that come with it.

peter putting aside his moral code to look the other way when felicia steals lol.

felicia trying to get peter to learn self-care and him resisting her all the way, because he's uncomfortable with feeling too good. (okay, this one isn't funny. it's just sad. 😔)

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

idk if this is an unpopular take, but i hate stuff where felicia is portrayed as only liking peter in the mask. or where she's like rough and inconsiderate of peter and unsympathetic to his boundaries. they're both victims of sexual assault, and it just rubs me the wrong way. (this is also something i hate in peter/wade fics as well. where there's this lack of care being demonstrated, and i don't agree with it at all.)

the moment i saw gifsets of them, i was all in. they were what made me decide to watch the show in the first place.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

uuuugghh, okay here's an incoherent list.

- their enemies to lovers dynamic. i love a good enemies to lovers story. their chemistry was crackling just about every scene they were in, and i feel insane every time they're on my screen.

- i love seeing two oldest children find love together, and struggling with wanting someone/something for themselves for the first time.

- i think my favorite thing about them is that while they're sexy together, the best thing is they're a couple who i believe are also each other's best friend (once they get past everything else lol). they always look so happy to be together, and i love that

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

i don't think i have one. the literal only complaint i have about them is that i didn't get to see enough of them.

We get Black Widow, partner in crime (and romantically) to Black Cat. relax both are adults, dont get your pants in a twist

This version of Spider-Man is similar to Sly Cooper where he's a thief but only goes after other thieves and takes down their operations.

Peter Parker in this universe doesn't quite lose Uncle Ben, but the burglar who broke into his house left him in a Coma. Due to how little money the Parker family has, Peter resorted to stealing money in order to keep Uncle Ben alive.

He nearly lost him once, never again.

However one fateful night, he encountered one particular cat burglar while they were both trying to steal the same thing. An expensive, rare item owned by none other than the Kingpin.

The Kingpin's guards rushed into the room, saw the two burglars, and unloaded their guns. Black Cat managed to dodge the gun fire, however Peter wasn't so lucky, getting two bullets in his right leg.

By all means, it's a dog eat dog world. She shouldn't care over someone trying to steal her big score, but her heart of gold said otherwise. Black Cat took Peter and ran out of the Fisk Industries tower.

The two began to talk while Felicia reluctantly helped with Peter's wounds, Felicia agreed that if the two worked together, they would split the rewards 50/50. Peter got a much needed upgrade to his attire, with a more stylish, noir inspired suit.

"You want to be a thief like me? You gotta look the part, darling."

Peter soon thought of the name "Black Widow" for his new persona, slightly inspired by Felicia's nickname.

The two quickly became a duo, robbing other, lower thieves and crimebosses blind.

Peter still steals money to keep Uncle Ben alive, but now steals to depower crimelords damaging the once great New York.

A lesson came to Peter, one he remembered Uncle Ben telling long ago in his childhood.

"With Great Power, must come Great Responsibility"

Peter now had Great Power, and it was Black Widow's Great Responsibility to punish the darkness within New York.

Title: do you get deja vu?

Summary: Peter saves the world, but Michelle never remembers him.

PART 1 — PART 2 — PART 3

Michelle’s depressed because Brad broke up with her. She mopes around the apartment. She’s always been quiet around him, ever since she lost her memories, but after the breakup she’s been floating around their apartment like a ghost.

He’s given her space to get over it, but he’s a total asshole because he thinks that this is his chance, finally, because Brad and Michelle had been dating for over a year.

Their relationship has been putting needles in his soul since she came home with him one day, not only because he’s a jealous little shit, but because what Brad and Michelle had built was something that was built to last.

Brad had the same love sick puppy eyes that Peter knows he less charmingly puts on his face.

And he could tell Michelle had been opening up to him, falling in love with him.

He could tell because she’s fallen in love with Peter before, multiple times, and every time he fucks it up and she forgets. It’s an ongoing nightmare that he relives in his dreams and in real life.

Honestly, he’s surprised that they even broke up, because they liked each other so much. He thought he might have to live with the fact that he had lost Michelle forever to someone as boring as Brad. And he’s so happy it didn’t work out.

He’s not proud of his thoughts. He should have been happy for Michelle because she was happy. But he’s only human — he’s pretty sure the bite didn’t change his genetic makeup too much.

But Michelle’s looking better, and that adds onto Peter’s happiness. They’re even hanging out on their couch, watching Star Wars. It’s been so long since she’s indulged him. He feels warm and giddy and the world is tinted in pink, until she says, in the middle of the climax of the movie, “So I met someone.”

The explosions from the TV feel like full blast in his head. A planet crumbles into space dust from the Death Star superlaser, and Peter knows the feeling.

God fucking dammit.

“Oh yeah? What’s he like?” He manages to squeak out.

“She, and she’s the most amazing person I’ve ever met.”

He’s pretty sure she used to say the same thing about him.

“Cool. Super cool.” He feels so lame, but he hopes that’s the end of it.

“I invited her up today for a drink. I hope you don’t mind?”

Of course he freaking minds. But he nods and gives the best smile. He’s sure it’s more of a grimace than anything else.

The most amazing person Michelle has ever met comes by thirty minutes later. They just finished the movie, not that he’s been paying any attention since Michelle’s news, when she’s knocking on their apartment door and strutting into their living room.

“Peter, I’d like you to meet—“ Michelle starts.

“Felicia,” he finishes.

She stands awkwardly between them. “You know each other?”

Felicia’s got a big huge Cheshire smile on her face that he just wants to wipe off. “You could say we’re partners in crime,” she says too sweetly.

“Or you could just say we were coworkers,” he responds flatly.

He has nothing against Felicia, but they had two very different moral compasses, as in he thought she was a little devoid of morals when he found out that she was the Black Cat. Peter’s already super sensitive about who Michelle hangs out with, mostly because it’s not him, but he knows Felicia is bad news.

“Coworkers?” Michelle asks. “From your Stark internship?” She turns to Felicia with a raised eyebrow. “I didn’t think you would be into something like that.”

Felicia walks over and wraps her arm around Michelle and kisses her forehead. Life’s so unfair. “Don’t worry kitty, I’m not a sell-out. It was only for a hot second.”

He knows anger is not a flattering look on him, but he can’t help it when he snipily says, “And I’m a sell-out?”

Felicia looks at him, the corners of her mouth tilting even further up. “Aren’t you though?”

“Fel,” Michelle says quietly. “Play nice.”

Felicia shrugs. “Come on, kitty, aren’t you always the one telling the truth, even if it hurts? Besides, I always play nice.”

Michelle looks between them, sees the tension, and decides, “Maybe we should just go to the bar downstairs.”

“Whatever you say kitty.”

And if Peter was better than he knows himself to be, he could suck it up and watch the love of his life cuddle on the couch with someone else. But he’s not, so he lets them go.

PART 4

There is a moment in Spectacular #90 which is currently living in my mind and it’s this conversation between Felicia and Peter, after Peter disappears for almost a week to fight against some villains in space along with the Avengers, F4 and others.

While looking for Peter, Felicia runs into Vision and Wanda, who immediately recognize Felicia now has powers (she always had them, but they were enhanced by Kingpin). And instead of trying to control her, or in anyway judge her, Vision recognizes Felicia’s potential for good and offers her a position in the avengers:

the government disqualified Peter for membership, partially because they don’t know anything about him (his identity as Spider-Man is a closely guarded secret), but Felicia’s identity is well known, and with her gifts and talents, she would fit into the ranks of the avengers.

Vision here talks about how not all Avengers have squeaky-clean pasts. Hawkeye, Hulk, Scarlet Witch, all of them worked for the wrong side at one point. Felicia has been pardoned for her crimes and has been acting as Spider-Man’s partner for a while now. She has proved herself in battle.

 Vision says it isn’t what you were or how you came by your powers that is important... it’s what you are and how you use those powers now. Felicia’s powers were enhanced by Kingpin (though she didn’t know he was involved). And considering the shame she feels about that, her going to the Avengers could be interesting. 

As far as I’ve read, she never ends up really considering the offer. Her attention is focused on Peter, on her life, she is not really the join a group type. She is more of a loner (she has cat like habits, after all). I think it could be an interesting AU though; Felicia joining to escape the Kingpin’s blackmail, after Peter breaks up with her (she is very irritated by that, even though she had been planning on breaking up with him, so her joining the team he was rejected from??? sweet poetic justice).

Peter had over and over again insisted it wasn’t true. There was no way he could be the father to the boy Felicia had taken from her- if he truly did exist in the first place. Scott did everything in his power to leave this matter of business between the two of them. Peter and Felicia were working together to get him back and make sure he was safe, way he saw it, they were taking care of it without him. 

Yet there was his nagging feeling that lingered in the back of his mind. With the time Felicia and he spent together, working as partners in crime. Depending on how old the kid was. There was a chance that-
