I feel like these are two separate questions entirely. Since Gen was first, I'm going to assume that you're more interested in him. But if you are interested in the Four or RGBV, poke me again

Gen is handling things about as well as could be expected: which is to say, not at all. But - and this is very important - he's had loved ones ripped away from him before. Admittedly, it was his Zelda, and she was fine in the end, but the point is that he knows how to take his emotions and channel them into action.

Is this healthy? Probably not. Is he actually processing anything? Who knows. Is this very, very ironic given that he was the medic? Oh absolutely. But also, he was the medic. He had one job.

He failed.

But if he lets himself think about that he's going to break so MOVING ON! Revenge is good. Revenge will make him feel better. Conveniently he's got nothing left to lose, so hey! Time to make those villains regret ever laying a single finger on his family.

gonna write a whole thing someday about how characters of color who clearly have a history of trauma or mental health issues aren’t given consideration or acknowledgement in the fandom imagination

#this is first and foremost about yennefer being canonically suicidal and it being never brought up in fandom #but people can talk about how they think she’s a bitch just fine like we’re all stuck in 2005 #but also applies to like just about every character of color who has a prominent role in sci/fi fantasy genre space #because they sure get made to suffer a lot by these writers but in the white imagination that’s not noteworthy at all?#but also Scott McCall #who deadass attempted suicide on screen in one ep?#suicide tw #which I have moved on from teen wolf but it for very obvious reasons another great example #or Michael Burnham who canonically had a fucked up childhood that gave her a lifelong martyr complex #but if you ask who clearly has ptsd on the show it’s not her because it needs to get spelled out even though she is the main character?#Or even Culber; they bonded once over how they both died!#but we don’t do that with white boy side characters 5-7 #they try to hate crime someone on screen and people are making shit up to justify before whatever media it is finishes airing #we talk about diversity in media #but one of the catch 22s is that more diverse media tends to be genre media #because that’s allowed to push boundaries #but as a fan of color you have to mentally prepare yourself for witnessing trauma every time #meanwhile the silly no stakes fun shows get majority white or entirely white casts every time #so you get this fun thing where if you’re white and want a fun escape you get a buffet of laughs #and if you’re a person of color at best you *dont* get to see yourself die on screen #anyways this has been a middle of the night that no one should be taking seriously #*rant #gotta make sure everything referencing tw isn’t in the first 5 tags or I might wake up to a whole essay crying in the inbox

Bee and puppycat lazy in space I love you so so much it's not even funny

#ramblings of a lunatic #decided to rewatch it again bc the toh finale has had me in a tizzy and while I'm getting better #it's definitely been hard just floating about in fandom space knowing that the show is ending and that in the scenario we do get more of it #in another form ofc #it won't be for a long time yknow?#it's saddening and back in September when i was uh. Very Sad bapc was really there for me #i was out here ardently defending the netflix series' writing bc i genuinely thought it was really good #and i still do #but more than that this show is intensely comforting in a way i can't really place/describe #it's a magical girl show. it's a workplace comedy. 99% of the cast is 25 years or older. its a coming of age story.#it's has pastel and lo-fi art direction. it's cosmic horror. the main character is so caring and yet so selfish and also autistic #and a robot #all of her romantic relationships are intensely weird and frankly are her least interesting dynamics #her most interesting dynamics are with her roomate/pet who's actually a space pirate cursed to look like a marketable plushy #and with her 8 year old landlord who's mom was childhood best friends with her dad making them family in a sense #except they're not really. also they're foils (she's an immature adult he's a kid who tries to be more responsible than he is)#it's filled with intense melancholy and multiple characters suffer from un-talked about depression #it is one of the cutest and brightest shows i have ever seen (in a non-obnoxious or technicolor way) and has an intense air of whimsy #it kinda has a fandom but not a big one despite having an undeniable impact in online animation culture and a bit on online culture overall #I'm not captivated by it in a fandom-y sense but i am obsessed with it. it's like wuthering heights to me #i love this show

#some tag rambles bc im having a bunch of loz thoughts to hey why not do a short lived tag ramble #starting with the bad i have thought more on how i feel totk fucked up its characters and its like. yeah any arcs that are there are bad #zeldas is dogshit all of the sages are just. VERY tell no show and it really doesnt matter and otherwise idk #nothing wrong with a static character but imo with a static character you then have to show more of them #reveal some things. also doesnt really happen. the main speaking cast are also kinda weak in relation to link #they dont really work off of him very well bc hes… not treated like a character. hes just some virtuous everyman in the story #so theres no actual chemistry between him or the other characters bc he isnt treated a character so like. he has almost no chemistry #its all mostly one sided and none of the sages but zelda have any real chemistry with other major characters either #and the major characters zelda has chemistry with barely matter so fuck it. like when ppl talk abt like. loz stories #and ppl talk abt how yeah they arent the best but totk is rlly bad. i dont feel like any other loz stories are baaaaad #not in the same way. but they dont feel as egregiously fumbled. imo its bc of the characters most of them time #ofc story can be strong enough and im not discounting stuff like mm and oots themes and atmosphere and stuff #it seeeems to me the most popular non zelda sage is tulin? but mostly bc hes a sweet kid and thats fine and all but there doesnt seem to #be much else to him hes otherwise kinda unremarkable bc he just doesnt do much else and seems to exists mostly to serve gameplay and plot #botw did it better bc the champions actively had a dynamic and a relationship with link they arent the deepest but they have more substance #botw zelda is arguably the strongest character in botw with a unique personality and genuine relationship to link even if we just see it #in the memories and seeing her warm up to link is cool but imp they fumble it in the ending of her arc and how it kinda contradicts stuff #and in totk they doubled the fuck down on her unlocking her powers for reasons related to link and decided ig shed figure she needs to be #links forever bestie and hypeman and she kinda just revolves around him in a really superficial way and this is the negative extreme #of a character being bolstered by being connected to link. but anyways in loz its the characters that tend to be the strongest points #and the characters with a clear dynamic and relationship to link shine the most. think groose ghirahim ravio midna fi marin linebeck sheik #the list could go on but the characters who get a chance to shine by interacting with the Player Character are the ones who stick out #and ofc they get more screen time but they cant avoid that character development or general character fleshing out bc they are in some way #tied to link and in a sort of way link himself is more fleshed out through how those other characters react to him if that makes sense #i think loz is at its best when a good bit of emphasis and effort is placed on characters and character relationships #and when thise relationships and character are written well ofc this fucking matters too #anyways thats why ph is one of the best we love our character heavy black sheep them ds characters carry so hard and so fucking well mwah

It’s so weird to me when someone tries to laugh with me about how their partner doesn’t help them or support their creative endeavor or just gets on their nerves like ……. Girl does he even like you? Do you like him?
