Tokujin Yoshioka: Lexus L-Finesse (2006)

Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka's installation for the Lexus exhibition at Milan Design Week 2006 gave visitors the chance to experience a tangible sensation of light. Having filled the space with 700 km (435 miles) of backlit transparent plastic fibres.

ok so I made some drafts based on last night’s spiel bc I woke up and it’s still fresh in my mind SO.

here’s the concept if I just get a standard double sided keychain made with the additional mini drawing added

pros: the oathkeeper and widows wail charm, it’ll be appropriately keychain sized

cons: no spinning!!! a severe lack of Whimsy…..

and here’s the concept for the rotating version

pros: jb rotating continuously so it looks like he’s giving her cheek a kiss WAUH

cons: no oathkeeper and widow’s wail!!! sobs I also think bc of the size of the border and to accomodate the motion, either the charm will be pretty big or the jb picture inside will be teeny tiny.

im also thinking if chibis would be better than a bust drawing since that’s usually what’s opted for charms like these but I like the idea of the jb continuous cheek kiss sobs. im also entertaining the idea of making seperate jaime/brienne key chains and they have their own swords hooked on them like the first concept but I don’t really have enough stuff to keychain onto and I don’t really like the thought of it just laying on my desk since it’ll just turn to clutter. anyway… THOUGHTS ! im still figuring out the design OBVI but i really like the idea of a heart shaped keychain hehehehehh

Quick and dirty Kiriko redesign

Main issues I tried to address:

The shilouette is pretty meh. It's not dire but at a glance/distance there is potential for confusion. So I tried to exaggerate notable features (hair, mask ears, hakama) and added a spear, like she has in some of the concept art. For one thing it looks cool and for another, it's been established through the Shimadas that these animal spirits are tied to a weapon and a spear fits in very neatly with a sword and bow.

The design is bland. (Which at least makes her fit in with the other OW2 default skins lmao). The first time I saw her I literally thought it was a D.Va skin. The idea, I would guess, was to merge traditional japanese clothing with modern day hip street fashion vibes and it just doesn't come together at all. Instead of enhancing them, all the aspects that should have visual impact are watered down. From her leggings to her face, there is no flavor; except in that trash garbage mask-visor nonsense. So I leaned into the traditional clothing, since leaning into the "hip young person" would just make her even less distinguishable from similar characters. I also tried to add some bits and bobs for flair (like the seals on her arms), just can't be bothered to really go into texture and detail atm.

Generic personality. This is more of a vibe thing than a character design thing but I want her to, at least at first glance, come across as a bit more cool and confident, maybe a little mysterious and just more interesting than the knock off Tracer/D.Va she turned out as. She can still be a bit of a goofball behind the mask but I feel her protector role demands that she can be at least a tiny bit intimidating.

That trash garbage mask-visor nonsense. My least favorite part by a goddamn mile. It just looks so fucking dumb and there's no way to make it cool; with its teeny kitten ears, dumbass white eyebrow triangles and perfectly flat bottom cut off. Again it's like mixing two things (naruto style ninja headband and kitsune mask) and ending up with the worst of both worlds. And you just know the reason she doesn't have a full or even half mask is because god forbid you can't see a female characters cute, utterly indistinguishable from the other cute 20-somethings, face. Fuck you, she gets a whole mask and it's badass.

Color. Her color palette has powerful "I'm 14 and this is my OC" energy. Actually, everything about her kinda has that, but the color palette especially. Now, I'm the first to admit that color isn't my strong suit either but even I can see some very obvious improvements. Like, why are her normal healing and her ult different colors? To me that's unnecessarily confused and looks bad, simply put. On top of that, they're yellow and cyan respectively, aka the most overused colors for glowy things ever. So I picked a yellowy orange bc it matches the fox motif and sets a nice contrast with the Shimadas' blue and green, just like the red in her outfit does. I incorporated some of that orange into her clothes as well, you know, for cohesion, and kept the green hair as a nice complementary to all the warm colors.

Feel free to make suggestions for improvements, might do a V2 eventually

Can we have a season of bake off where all the bakers are over the age of 50? Even better if they are in their 70s.

I assure you that I will still faithfully watch every week because there is something so classic about the people who learned how to bake the old fashioned way: Watching their relatives who have baked for decades. With measurements like a pinch and a hint and a smidgeon. Recipes being passed down on the backs of notecards with the ink all smudged away or only through word of mouth alone. Who grew up having to stretch every ingredient. Who didn't have the internet or a lot of recipes/ingredients readily available for a significant portion of their life.

Give me older charming bakers. Give me an entire tent full of Nickys and Keiths and Dawns and Maggies. Bonus points if they have a really salt-of-the-earth life. Bonus bonus points if they have supreme British wit (a la Dame Maggie Smith) that will leave the judges speechless (and subtly insulted). Give me an entire tent full of people who do not give a damn about what Paul and Prue care most about--- presentation and ~finesse~. People whose only goal is to feed the people they care about with the food they create.

Give me a season of ~rustic~ bakers.

decided to redesign an Ember x Rarity fankid!! her name’s Finesse, and she has photography as a hobby :D

she’s aroace and uses she/her pronouns, and is best friends with Cloudstriker, my Flutterdash fankid :)

she’s really nice and well-mannered once you get to know her, if not a little bit snooty, but still pretty nice nonetheless. also she often gets into arguments with other dragons, and if she’s angry enough, she headbutts them with her sharp-ass horn (which hurts a LOT)

also she may or may not have had an emo phase as a young teen (and probably still listens to the horse equivalent of MCR today)
