Hi! I've been wondering, how would König react if his darling became too insistent into going to see those Krampus events they do in Austria during Christmas?

Oh, he is actually pretty fine with letting you out if it's to see his culture actually getting appreciated by her! I'm not an expert on all parts of Austria, but I headcanon konig to live around Salzburg, so they have these huge Krampus festivals with masked actors even getting into restaurants and disrupting romantic dinners for fools who think it's cool to sit in a diner near central street. Konig always makes sure you're not overwhelmed or too scared, some costumes and animatronics can get pretty scary for a firstcomer ( even if you are prepared to see a lot of spooks around here, he still protects you from anything too gruesome, even though you are getting into more adult part of the festival, with waaay more blood on costumes and alcohol. Did I mention how insane Konig is with huge alcohol intakes? He is so silly while drunk, protecting his culture and his country like a silly dummy!! Even in the first stages of your relationship, he will just get a firmer hand around yours and drag you with him because he doesn't fully trust you with being away from him, but he also wants you to enjoy the outdoors as much as you can! He wouldn't even drag you with a collar, although he can thrown some goat horns on your head and make everyone think you're doing some funny couples costumes because honestly no one even cares around here. But even if you're too scared or overwhelmed, or just want to enjoy more like a Christmas fair part of those celebrations, he is more than willing to spoil you with hot drinks and little gifts and gingerbread with Krampus because he wants you to enjoy this city as much as he did when he was a kid.

Because as odd as it is to see little Sidon now tower over Urbosa, nothing can compare to the weirdness Link feels when he looks at Wild; the stranger who looks like him but wrong. A.K.A. Mid-quest, Wild ends up in Age of Calamity. No one is happy about this.

Vi rereads Elfquest, Issue #20

It's the end of the original quest, and a lot happens. This will probably be multiple posts, due to the image limit.

I've just always liked this scene.

At this point, do the trolls know they came from the same place? I can't remember if that's been established. (And I'm just. Not going to talk about Firstcomer Troll. I'll save that for the Final Quest.)

I wonder, if the Palace leaves the world, and takes all the peices with it, would the non-wolfrider elves spirits still go to the palace? And she said "soul and flesh." Does that mean something bad would happen to those living left behind? If the little palace had not been left behind, what would have happened?

Do we think there's a door only the trolls could open too?

You know, for something that couldn't fly just a minute ago, Petalwing is sure doing a good job of flying now.

So, Summary (mostly for my own understanding): Ancient High Ones lived and evolved on their world, much like we have on ours, relying on technology so much that their magic never manifested. They used up resources, and overpopulated the planet, and so left it for other planets.

Millions of years later (a star's age), some came back to the original planet, which was old and dying, and tried to help it go peacefully. Here, their powers awakened, and they nearly became incorporial beings, but decided not to because they liked feeling things. But they could only experience so much on an old nearly dead planet, so they split up into groups, using their own planet's soil, to make their "spaceships" and took the last animals left on their planet besides them, (what would become trolls and preservers) with them.

I do wonder what happened to those original ones: the ones that left with technology before they learned magic. Sure, she said they came back, but surely not all of them did. Not with millions of years in between.

so not sure who i'm going to send this to and i don't care what the client said about confidentiality.. i just need to talk..

so we were sent to WASP-132c to recover some damaged tech from FirstCom era, old hard-suit models, not sure why the client wanted them. none of my business. i wish they’d- [she sighs]

whatever. 

okay so we go down to WASP-132c, make landfall, fine. everything looks good, just like the Cypriot’s scanners said, some local fauna and flora but no sign of anything hostile. 

….

got to the facility. everything is fine. buncha old FirstCom stuff there, nothing too weird. old research base i think? not sure, it doesn’t.. it doesn’t really matter. uh so we get the fucking. sorry. [her voice raises] no. no i’m not i don’t give a- 

{audio recording pauses} {audio recording resumes}

[Cory resumes, voice back to flat neutral]

apologies. so we secured the payload, that was fine, base was so old we just walked in and out. walking back to the landing craft,

and then.. 

[she curses under her breath, voice muffled takes a few deliberate but shaky deep breaths, it doesn’t ease the strain in her voice]

then the hard-suits start leaking nanites 

[her pace picks up, so does her breathing]

and-and suddenly there’s greywash everywhere and then out of the facility come people. like humans. actual humans. we-we knew there was organic life but not- but not humans. and they’re angry, i-i don’t know but they’re angry. they’re speaking in a dialect i don’t understand but they’re pissed, and they have guns and then fuck greywash was everywhere, and it’s-  it’s eating through Liza’s fucking- 

[her breathing is shallow and fast]

and then one of the humans got on her cockpit a-and i-i-i 

i-i h-had to 

[she sniffles]

i-i j-just didn’t know what to do and they were on top of her a-and 

[Coryander breaks down, racking sobs can be heard for a minute or two]

[there is the sound of a door sliding open and rushed footsteps before Thebe’s voice can be heard, deep and soft, a clear note of worry tinged with weariness of its own]

heeey heey c’mere 

[the sound of someone sitting down, bodies shifting closer]

i know ma belle.. i know 

[Coryander’s voice is muffled by fabric as she’s racked by deep choking sobs]

i-i-i w-wanna g-go h-home

okay.. we can do that, i just need you to breathe right now okay?

[Thebe breathes deeply in. and out. and Cory does her best to match it]

great job, just like that, in… and out.

[the sobs slow after a few shaky breaths from Cory]

hey hey its okay alright, she’s okay, you’re okay…..

it’ll be okay.. 

[Coryander’s breathing begins to slow]

what were you doing Cory? you know you should be resting too..

u-uh 

[Coryander sniffles]

i-i was tryna record a briefing, we gotta tell someone…

{audio recording pauses} {audio recording resumes}

[Coryander’s voice can be heard again, still raw but more composed, she sounds tired]

okay.. 

[she takes a deep breath]

okay uh sorry about that, 

uh okay, okay. 

things didn’t go to plan… the hard-suits are un-salvageable… in short they had some sort of HORUS tech i think? greywash. lots of it. the suits kinda disintegrated.. and anything left we coulda gotten…. there was an un-documented human presence on the planet the client didn't tell us about.. they got the rest..

[a pause then she takes a steadying breath] 

Lancer Liza- uh callsign Sour Patch was hurt in the process, she’s recovering in the ships’s med bay, damage was sustained to the mechs of all lancers, uh.. next stop is a repair shop i guess… it’s gonna cost.. 

[there’s a deep sigh]

But if they needed pre-established existence to actually BE summoned, how did Alear, Céline, Chloé and Alfred end up here...... bc they were the firstcomers, and you can reasonably assume everyone that came after was talked about by any of them. And then when it comes to "being from the future", how do the Tokyo Mirage Sessions guys fit into this ...... did they have records while Engage guys didn't for some reason??????? Timeline wise how did that even happen .... if not just human error (as an in-universe explanation) (like they just missed a spot lmfao??????)

I didn't get into the series until High School, and had a pretty long phase of being a fan of it starting at that point, so my recollection of those bits are likely more recent than yours, too. The bit with Kahvi sneering at the concept of Recognition and proudly announcing that her tribe doesn't "bother" with it also really stuck with me.

And yeah, the firstcomers being forced to figure out bodies that would work on the new world pretty quickly could definitely have led to some problems- especially since it isn't clear if their species, being immortal, had even bothered to breed much (or at all) in the prior few millennia.
