Around 1939 or '40 there was this lovely, ample-bosomed blonde girl who was my older brother's girlfriend. Her name was Natalie. She lived across the little side street on which we played stickball. The room that held my piano, my studio, if you will, faced her windows. We were up on the fifth floor, and Natalie was across the street on the second floor. There were a number of times in the summer when Ray, my brother, threw open the window, sat on the sill with his leg up, and Natalie would be like Juliet, except she was below, not above, at her window. The two would gaze and gesture to one another. It was quite a distance from the fifth floor to the second floor across the street, and, you know, with kids in between playing stickball, it wasn't quite the situation where they could converse. So they developed a kind of sign language. One afternoon, Ray must've been in the throes of some great wave of passion. He sat me down, literally grabbed me by the arm, and put me on the piano bench. He knew that I could play the piano version of Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet. He pointed to the music and said, "Play!" Then he went and sat on the sill while I played as loudly as I could, with the appropriate feeling. I played this love music while my brother sat on the sill making these great swooping gestures as if he were sending the music out the window down across the street to Natalie's window. I was twelve or thirteen and Ray was close to eighteen at the time. I felt like Cyrano de Bergerac. A musical Cyrano de Bergerac.

GH: GHOST RIDER #80
The last regular issue of GHOST RIDER I bought was #80,–literally just one issue away from the series’ cancellation with #81. So why did I jump off here, right before the end/ Well, the honest reason is that GHOST RIDER was never a book I was all that interested in. I bought it out of habit for a very long time, only really enjoying it infrequently across that period. I had the available funds,…

Spider-Woman #24 (Fleisher/von Eedon, Mar 1980). Jessica’s new boyfriend is behind bars. The strangest thing about this book is how hard it works to keep Jessica dislikable. There’s a redemptive reading where she’s essentially like Kimmy Schmidt, a survivor of a strange cult that left her ill-equipped to rejoin the world — but the writing rarely talks about her time with the High Evolutionary or Hydra anymore. She just makes bad choices for the hell of it.

Because you demanded it! It doesn't get bigger than this! The ultimate clash of the Titans!
The Seal Men's War on Santa Claus. This was originally intended for an issue of The Sandman (no, not that one) in 1976 but that title got cancelled before this epic tale could be unleashed on an unsuspecting world. It did later show up in Best of DC Digest No. 22 - Christmas with the Superheroes (1981).
**SPOILER ALERT** If you're thinking Seals are a controversial choice for villains then you're not alone. However it turns out the reason our heroes are fighting each other is because there has been "some sort of accidental mix-up" and the Seal Men have inexcusably been getting the wrong Christmas presents for years!

My Chemical Romance in ‘Negatives’ by Amy Fleisher Madden
transcript/ID below the cut
My Chemical Romance
Est. 2001
Belleville, NJ / Kearney, NJ
You can't discuss emo now without mentioning My Chemical Romance, but the early days of the band were fraught with unintentional mystery.
There were rumors that it was a side project of the already established band Thursday, that they were vampires, that they were a death metal band. Only some of those rumors were true or. maybe partly true. What was definitely true, however, was that after releasing an ambitious first album that felt like an emotional hybrid of Ink & Dagger and the Murder City Devils, as well as signing to a major label, the band was on the tip of every scenester's tongue. At the time, it was noted that there was this palpable feeling that something big was going to happen. What no one knew was just how big, and that this band would break out globally and achieve rock star status around the world.
In 2004, when the video for "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" was released, there were so many emotions and even more opinions. Some took the stance that this was emo exploitation; others celebrated that the music that had been bubbling up for years had finally broken into the mainstream. At first the band rejected the emo label, but after years of their fans waving the emo banner all over the place (and in their faces), they accepted it and gave into the title of reigning champs of third wave emo.
Regardless of which side you were on, My Chemical Romance's success was big. Big, like your parents who had never understood the kind of music you listened to (or why your hair or pants looked the way they did) could now see it front and center on the cover of Rolling Stone, kind of big. And to say
that the band and their music changed the scene forever would be accurate. Some of the polarizing attributes of third wave emo that tend to agitate die-hard first and second wave fans were made abundantly popular by this band and their fans-and often the outright popularity of the band infuriated other emo fans who tend to gate-keep.
You can't have it both ways, though. You can't only want certain friends within the scene to be successful, but be upset when others experience that success instead. That's a rough double standard and I can't get down with it.
My Chemical Romance risked everything to be successful and "make it" -and I fucking love and respect them for it. And listen, it is impossible for me to decide whether I love Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge or The Black Parade more, so please don't make me choose a favorite. Numerically speaking, My Chemical Romance is not the biggest emo band of all time.
That honor is currently reserved for Fall Out Boy.
But in my opinion, they are the most influential third wave emo band. It's no surprise to see Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas, citing them as one of their greatest influences. No other band has had such an indelible impact on pop culture, the scene, and the future waves of emo.

“Oh my gosh people are running out of show ideas! This generation’s is so boring! Blah blah blah-” you wanna know an idea that would probably make MILLIONS??
A Betty Boop reboot but do it the way the Animaniacs did it.
Have Betty and all the other characters from her show explore the world of today.
Do a montage of Betty exploring new types fashions, have Koko the clown learn about stand up, have bimbo learn the modern definition of the word “bimbo”, have fearless Freddy learn about whatever the fuck (I literally forgot most things about Freddy I haven’t watched the show since I was little)
Do a reference to that one short film about hell and have the devil compared to tcs devil.
Have modern-day cartoons come up to Betty asking for autographs.
This would probably be a really good reboot given the chance.
