Last week or so I spent a good few days falling back in love with traditional art, and so I decided to fill an entire page with colored pencils

Only one of these drawings is almost fully done with markers and it's the only one from way back in 2021, while all the others (except for Aliara's jacket) are color pencils

I'm really proud of how this looks, so I'm including a few close ups of some of the drawings that I really really liked, as well as some credits under the cut!

The grumpus with the pink fur, blue hair and purple hat is Parstel, who belongs to @hyper-fixator !

The blue gal with the ponytail is Jerejamlie, who belongs to @soulthefunnyman !

The purple gal with blonde hair is a fanart for Holly Hollowtones back in 2021! It's the only drawing that was already old, while all the others were recently made earlier this month

Frank leaned against the brick wall, staring at Narcissa watering a row of rosebushes.

"They gave you a private garden? How much did your family give the school for that?"

Narcissa shot him a glare, "Professor Sprout allowed me it to study for my Herbology n.e.w.t in peace. My family had nothing to do with it."

Frank snorted, "Sure, they didn't."

"I can achieve things without my family's influence."

"I never said you didn't."

She huffed, sitting her watering can down and folding her arms, "What are you doing here?"

"I'm not allowed here?"

"Well it is a private garden."

Frank grinned, glancing to the rosebushes, "Roses, the flower of Aphrodite."

Narcissa raised a brow, "How fascinating."

"Why aren't you growing any narcissi?"

"A little too on the nose, no? Are you that bored that you have to bother me with relentless questions, where's Alice?"

Frank laughed, "Great steering into talking about Alice."

"I was not trying to talk about Alice! It's just that you two are usually together."

Frank pushed himself off the wall, "Y'know, there's this boy I really like."

Narcissa smirked, "Kingsley?"

"Yeah", he grinned, "I like him a lot."

Narcissa stared at him for a moment, "Why are you telling me this?"

Frank shrugged, "In case there was something you wanted- needed to say out loud. We're friends, Narcissa, I feel comfortable telling you secrets, private things about myself, and I want you to be able to feel that way towards me."

Narcissa nodded, picking her watering can back up and turning to a row of snapdragons, "Thank you. For trusting me enough."

"Course."

She plucked out one of the flowers, passing it to Frank, "Give this to Alice for me?"

Frank smiled, "Want me to give a message with that?"

"Just- that I wanted her to have it. And she can come to visit me here anytime."

Frank took the flower and gasped, "Oh, and I can't?"

"Absolutely not. You'd bore my plants to death with all those beatles songs on your guitar!"

"You love it, Cissy."

She huffed a laugh, "Oh, shut up."

They always said it wasn't the fall that'd kill you, but the landing. In his case, it wasn't the fall that would've killed him, but the stick of dynamite he’d fallen with. The one that set off the second they’d hit the ground.

But somehow, in some way, he had survived.

It was cold and everything hurt, but he was alive.

He could hear the snuffling of Dyna’s little pet, and their hysterical laughter as they bounced their legs, trying to right themself. He could see tears streaking down their permanently smiling face. They hadn’t seen him yet, and that was probably a good thing. They’d definitely freak out more than they already were.

“That GODDAMN little PEST.” They screamed, laughing more, “THAT PEST IS GONNA PAY FOR THIS!!!”

“It could be worse,” Frankley responded in a matter of fact tone of voice, as he righted the tinier robot. It wouldn't calm them down. Nothing could, but it was good to at least try.

Dynamight cackled more at his attempt at calming them down. “As IF.”

They steadied themself as Frankley set them back down. Skweel immediately drove up and playfully bumped into them a few times. Dyna wiped their palms down their body to get rid of any dirt then set one on their darling little pet’s head, giving it the pets it truly deserved.

Then they actually looked at their hands.

“Hey Franky?” They said with a nervous chuckle, “You're bleedi- WHAT THE FUCK.”

Frankley looked down at himself. His outer paneling - at least the stuff covering his arms and chassis - was mangled, essentially missing. He was dripping oil everywhere too, that explosion must've broken something important.

“How bad is it?”

“You think I can see over your pecs? Cause I can’t at this angle.”

Frankley just rolled his eyes. Their expression alone dictated the impending mechanic visit. Oh well, it could be worse.

Still processing. It took me a bit to get into the alt site. Fortunately, you guys are smarter than me.

But my big discovery for today (after the break)

So, i didn’t upload the image overlay that i made, but the single pea on a plate that has got everyone thinking reminded me of a clock kinda and especially the second placement of his finger (as a puppet) was very obviously pointing.

At first, i was thinking time, and this is cleverly short hand and long hand, so i would guess 4:15. But then my partner said the neighborhood has always reminded me of a clock, so I put the plates as transparent layers and the thumb lands right on the post office and the finger goes right to home.

Also, these are the only two undecorated houses. Also also...

And that isn't even getting into a lot of the imagery and things that are included.

Eddie thinks delivering mail is a way of earning recognition, and that is somehow important to him.

Frank calls him Mr. Dear, and then when they are alone, he whispers Eddie (which Eddie doesn't respond to) which hints at a deeper relationship than at least Frank wants others ro know about.

Sorry for the low quality. However, in both of these images, there is the idea of Eddie being small. Sally is gesturing here, but the perspective has to be for a reason. In the other image, his chair is sitting on this board amongst kit items, and he is super small.

There was an allusion to him not being able to lift Sally to the top of the tree as well.

I have to think about sally as a treetopper, starstopper, and perhaps some kind of panopticon.

Also, when eddie started freaking out in that chair, i was very much reminded of the butterfly art with eddie. The eye shading is so similar.

I do have OCs! I mostly post about them in my art blog, but my main four are here, all from bugsnax:

In their current order: Emilette Gruntklunk, Frankley Baffletap, Creetus Stingypatch and Aliara Witgoal! Starting off with Frankley though, let's go!

Frankley's an anxious tall grump who's far too kind for their own good. Invited by who they thought were their friend, they joined a gang and wound up robbing, committing theft of several kinds, becoming more and more dependent on the group... until chaos finally struck among the gang, and in the spur of the moment, Frankley had to run away, everyone else falling behind bars. With nowhere to go, they find themself on their way to help in Snaktooth Island... which is where their main story takes place! They find a tiny little creature they decide to take care of, and try and teach the meaning of friendship and care. If only the little bug wasn't so filled with rage, their task could have a chance of success.

Emilette, the pink and small one there, is a grumpy ex accountant with a pessimistic outlook in life. She's harsh and blunt towards others, but this has pushed her to rely only on herself. One day, after suddenly quitting at her job, she decides to start anew and join the expedition on Snaktooth Island. Whether this is an attempt at genuinely making new friends or a way to escape from all her issues... well, it might be both, even if the former is a concept that's grown far too strange from her.

Creetus, green and grumpy-looking. He's the oldest of 7 siblings. Adopted when he was 8, he grew in a bit of a competitive environment, though a good one, and later on pursued a career as a chef. It hasn't been going as well as he would like due to how the business tends to be, and when he heard of Snaktooth Island he realized his chance at success could be found there. It's sad that the bugsnax cannot be cooked, but he refuses to give up; he's too stubborn to, or perhaps too desperate to make his family proud.

And then we have Aliara! The grinning grape over there. Out of my main ones, she's the only one who doesn't stumble upon the island... but he does have other connections to it. She works for an organization that keeps an eye on the creatures that live there and whoever happens to try and make their home there. It's a job she found when she was far too young; or rather, the job found her when she escaped her home after a tragedy she used as a chance to run. Dark sense of humor to go along with her grim tasks as what you'd basically call a hit man. She lives the day to day, trying to enjoy life as she can with her nihilistic nature, as well as keeping an eye from very afar on those few she estranged herself from, one of them—one who's already been introduced here—who she later finds out did make it into that accursed island...

And that's the gist of it! I could go on and on for hours about them and all the other characters I have for their respective stories, but that's gonna be long and I should move on to the other questions dskjfhsdkf

What was the first piece of media you engaged with on the internet? Are you still interested in it?

If we go aaaAAALL the way back... idk man, neopets probably? kjhdsakak maybe

but more consciously of it, actively participating, it was Ouran High School Host Club, then straight up skipped to Vocaloid and that took over for years. OHSHC still remains in my heart forever, but I'm not into it anymore (though Haruhi my beloved I will always love u). Vocaloid is the kind of media you go "Yeah, I liked them, but I'm not into them" and explode the second you find out news about it anyway. So in a way, I guess I still am? It's always fun to find out what's been going on, but I don't actively listen to anything Vocaloid anymore

What's something you made or did that you're proud of?

My art, honestly. But deeper than that, the stories I've managed to create with my OCs. I've never fully told a story—at least not in one single space, just blurbs thrown around at friends that fulfilled the stories themselves—but I'm proud of what I've been able to create.

However, that means it's nothing I can show here, so check out one of the latest drawings I'm pretty proud of! The background was just to accompany so it's a pretty quick one, but it inspired me to make the colors work pretty nicely!

What's something that made you smile this month?

My friends. It's been a rough month—and year as a whole—but although I don't express it much, they always seem to just. make me smile; simply by being themselves, by talking to me and showing interest in what I have to say. I'm not someone to talk much about myself in general, so seeing anyone direct themselves my way and just... talk to me? It always wows me. Thank you for considering me, thank you for letting me into your lives, thank you for being you, thank you for existing, thank you for being.

The other day I was having a rough time and a friend noticed and approached me. It meant the world to me. idk if he'll read this but ty bro ur the best <3

do you have any headcanons about kingsley/frank?

best friends. in the same year at school, both gryffindors. also both best friends with alice (all three hung out together since first year)

kingsley was sorta out as gay (as in he told people he was friends with, and didn't care if other people overheard) whilst frank wasn't, as his mum wouldn't have been very accepting at all

alice was their matchmaker (frank was matchmaker for nobleflower)

on the quidditch team together (kingsley always jokingly calls frank 'captain'.)

adopted the marauders. brings them to their parties and stuff. frank taught them about music. kingsley taught them charms and spells they could use for pranks.

frank's mum doesn't like hin going out much so kingsley always goes to the longbottom's

they'd go on walks in the forbidden forests as kingsley read and frank ate random plants they came across

frank dresses in the most boring, basic clothing known to man. kingsley dresses like he's a glam rockstar 24/7.

For everyone saying Jance is performative and fanservice. Let me tell you something, from a queer slovenian fan...I dont think this is performative, but if it is, them performing it is a fucking brave and amazing thing to do.

We are a more open and rainbow friendly nation in comparison to other balkan and eastern european nations, but that doesn't mean much. We accepted same sex marriage and adoption in 2023, BECAUSE there were so many people opposed to it and voted against it. Our courts had to do it themselves.

And quite frankley I don't think many older people will change their minds, but there are younger people still being raised with the same prejudices. Especially in more rural eras where church is more prominent.

We have barely any reperesentation on TV, movies or in the media. The fact that a young, "hearthrob" boy band is doing this sets a precedent that cannot be ignored.

I know this was rambley and someone else could probably explain it better.

But seriously, take your "queerbaiting" and "fan-service" and fucking choke on it. The reason why you might not get why what they are doing means a lot to some of us and is quite beautiful is because you live in a bubble where something like this can only be used for commercializing.
