Sooooo I just realized that I may have dug myself into a REALLY deep hole that's going to be hard to climb out of after (accidentally) messing with Club Venus prematurely. And now I can't progress any further in the Cabaret Czar minigame until I beat the owner in a Cabaret Battle.
Me: Pff. What's he gonna do? Kidnap Yuki?
Yuki: *gets kidnapped*
Me: *insert surprised Pikachu face*

Secret Santa:X
(This is half headcanon, half fic, all fun times and emotions)
(Shoutout to the Penthouse discord server for help on some of the gifts, would have been lost without you)
The last Christmas they have in the penthouse, Ryan brings up Secret Santa again. It’s partly a joke, partly a nod to the nostalgia that’s been eating at all of them the last few months. He brings it up when they’re all gathered in the living room, watching Gavin try and prove his stealth abilities in Hitman.
(“Just because you can be stealthy in a video game doesn’t mean I’m letting you come with me.” Jack had said at the beginning of it all.
“If I get silent assassin you have to take me!”
“This is your fourth run through!”)
Anyhow, Ryan brings it up, all nonchalant. “Remember that year we did Secret Santa?”
“No?” Jeremy says honestly.
“Before your time.” Michael says with a smile, patting him on the head.
“It was fun. We should do it again.”
(”Goddamnit!” On screen, Gavin dies again.)
The next day they have a meeting of all the ‘movers and shakers’, as Geoff has taken to calling them. He announces that Secret Santa is yet again a thing, and no, Matt, you can’t get out of it. There’s no budget, because they all have access to more money than they know what to do with.
They throw eleven names in a hat and go from there. Geoff calls first pick because he’s an asshole like that, and his choice picks next, so on and so forth.
“Just get your shit done by Christmas, and we’ll do it then.”
--
Geoff pulls Gavin, and only panics a little.
The kid has everything he could ever want, what’s he really supposed to do? He considers what he might need, ends up crossing ‘bulletproof vest and a helmet’ off the list because it feels a little impersonal. He could do liquor of some sort, but he suspects there will be enough of that floating around on Christmas day.
He considers a camera, knows Gavin is into that kind of shit, but he’s lost a lot of knowledge in that department over the years. The only person who knows enough is Gavin himself, and that kind of defeats the point.
He ends up going for a new pair of gold shades, because the old ones are pretty worn out after six-plus years, and he’s almost positive Gavin has lost them. (Probably in Ryan’s room, but that’s neither here nor there) He gets a pair that have diamonds along the arms, and even though they’re ridiculously expensive he thinks it’s worth it.
Gavin adores them, has them on within 30 seconds of unwrapping them. He pokes himself in the eye, and that feels like a bonus to Geoff.
--
Gavin pulls Trevor, and while he plays it off at first “Oh, this will be easy, I got this person for sure!” he absolutely has no idea what to do.
There’s a weird bit of time where he tries to get to know Trevor better. He learns absolutely nothing new, despite following the guy for almost a week.
There’s a night he lays in bed with Ryan, bitching about this whole thing. “What the hell do I do? This was terrible for me last time, why would you suggest this?”
He ends up calling Barbara from the Roosters to try and figure out something, who promptly makes fun of him for not knowing anything about the guy he’s worked with for years. She does give one bit of new information, so he goes with it.
He gives Trevor tickets to the next Motocross event, because it’s apparently something he’s into. He throws in a NASA t-shirt as a joke, a nod to the world Trevor left behind.
Both items go over well, Trevor immediately pulling the shirt on over what he’s already wearing. He won’t shut up about Motocross for the rest of the day, either.
--
Trevor pulls Ryan, which he’s immediately terrified of.
He knows Ryan well enough to know that there won’t be any serious repercussions if he fucks it up, he won’t get gutted over a poor gift choice. But he also knows he’ll get that weird stare Ryan does when he’s pretending to consider whether or not to hurt someone. Plus he won’t live it down from the rest of the crew.
At first he goes to Gavin for help, because apparently nobody is taking the ‘secret’ part seriously. Gavin absolutely refuses to help him, mostly for the laughs. He knows Gavin’s getting a kick out of watching him squirm over this, which is so unfair. Then he asks Jack for help, who just shrugs.
“You’re a smart guy, Trevor, you’ll figure something out.”
He does, sort of. He gives Ryan a 24 pack of diet coke (because what else?) and an actually beautiful rainbow knife. It seems pretty heavy duty, and he knows its right up his alley. He also throws in some earplugs as a joke.
“So you can tune out Gav’s idiocy whenever you need.”
“Come on, Trevor. I’ve had years of practice at that. The knife is gorgeous though.”
--
Ryan pulls Alfredo, and he’s not too worried about it.
Alfredo’s their go-to sniper these days, and a new sniper rifle seems pretty obvious. Maybe a gift card to Ammunation or something? It does feel a little lackluster, even to him, so he brings it up to Gavin one night, while Gav is still debating t-shirts from Amazon.
“That’s a bit boring, isn’t it?”
“You’re buying a NASA shirt for an ex-aerospace engineer. I’m gonna need you to rethink your stance on this one.”
“Nah. You gotta do something better for Fredo, he deserves it.”
Which. alright, then what the fuck is he supposed to do? He gets his answer the next week when he sees Alfredo on a motorcycle for the first time.
“I’m going to teach you how to actually ride that thing.” Which is good, a chance to catch up and hang out. Bad, because Ryan’s method of teaching is ‘learn by doing’ and does in fact result in shouting.
Ryan still gives him the sniper rifle, which he is far more excited about.
--
Alfredo pulls Fiona, and it’s the first time he marginally regrets joining the crew.
He’s got no fucking idea what she’d like, what gift she’d appreciate and not hit him over. He tries to be casual about asking around, hoping someone might have better insight. The rest of the crew catches on immediately, and they flood him with false information.
“She loves chocolate. Favorite Halloween candy, in fact!” Michael tells him, but the grin he has says otherwise.
“She mentioned something about wanting to learn a new language.” Jack says seriously.
“Get her an English to French dictionary, she’ll love it.” Gavin tacks on.
“French, yep. She definitely wants to learn that one.”
Lindsay is the only one who actually helps him. “She’s been known to enjoy a drink or two.”
By sheer luck he happens to walk into one of the thousand arguments Fiona has with Michael over the whole ‘Halloween candy’ debacle, and he knows immediately that's a bad route to go down.
He ends up making a gift basket full of liquor mini’s and various candies. He makes sure not to include any chocolates, and throws some extra blowpops in, just to be safe.
Thankfully, she does appreciate the thought he put in, and she says she’ll only share with Alfredo since everyone else is an asshole.
--
Fiona pulls Lindsay, and it’s not hard to figure out what she’ll like.
She considers something chaotic, the two of them wreaking havoc on the city together. It makes sense. She also thinks about organizing a ‘girls day’, getting all the ladies of the crew together to go out and fuck some shit up. There’s a lot of logistics involved in that one, including convincing some of them to be out in the field like that.
It crosses her mind to bring Lindsay to a shelter to play with cats, because if there’s one thing Lindsay likes more than chaos, it’s cats. That’s also a bit of a logistical nightmare, not to mention the strength it would take to pry her away.
In the end she goes with cat merch. It’s a basket full of goodies, including a mug with a cat holding a bi-pride flag, a dress with various cartoon cats on it, and a cat necklace that has her birthstone as the body.
It’s beautiful, and Lindsay just about cries. She too, immediately changes into her new clothing, and she drinks everything out of the mug for at least a month.
--
Lindsay pulls Matt, and at first she panics.
She knows him fairly well, but like... He’s a real weirdo, what’s she supposed to do with that? She wonders what games he could use, if there’s anything he hasn’t bought himself.
Her confusion lasts until she mentions it to Michael. (Only after he let it slip who he’d picked.)
“Are you fucking kidding me? Matt’s the easiest goddamn one!”
“Bullshit! Name one thing you know about M.att B.ragg!”
“He eats like shit! Give him a box of donuts and he’ll lose his fuckin mind.”
Her response of  “Oh my god.” is barely heard.
She spends a week trying out different recipes, much to Ryan’s delight. He’s happy to play taste-tester while she finds the perfect flavor combination.
She winds up going with a double chocolate espresso concoction. Matt is, of course, super stoked about his cupcakes, and damn near has to fight Ryan off to protect them.
--
Matt pulls Jeremy, which is pretty much a slam dunk.
Whiskey is the obvious choice, one he’ll absolutely go with, thank you very much. Who said taking the easy way out never got you anywhere?
And it would have, if it weren’t for Geoff.
There’s a debate that happens about a week before Christmas, something about the necessity of going to the liquor store. Michael and Jeremy are firmly pro-trip, and Geoff just wants them to “stay home and do some goddamn work. Besides, it’s not like half of you guys aren’t buying each other liquor anyway. In a week I’m sure we’ll be fully stocked.”
Which, alright. Fuck Matt then, huh? He’d genuinely thought it was a good idea, a mix of thoughtful and practical.
He decides to pair the whiskey with- well, it’s kind of a joke gift, but at least he won’t be accused of only buying liquor.
He commissions a customized cowboy hat. Half purple half orange, split right down the middle. There’s a neon yellow buckle on it, and it’s the ugliest thing Matt has ever seen in his life.
Jeremy loves it though, thinks it’s goddamn perfect. He wears it for the rest of the day, and for the next heist.
(Michael is less enthused.)
--
Jeremy pulls Michael, and that-
That’s harder than it should be.
He and Michael have been doing this... Whatever the fuck it is for over six months now, and they haven’t goddamn talked about. Not really. They’ve had moments, sure, here and there when they’re both drunk and thinking far too much about it. Reminding each other that they’re happy, that this is a good time, wouldn’t change it for the world-
But there’s still nights they sleep alone and they don’t talk about why. They still don’t really mention it to anyone else, even if they all know. Jeremy still doesn’t know how to answer when someone asks what the deal is with him and Michael.
So it’s hard, right, to come up with a relationship- appropriate gift. Too jokey and he’ll feel bad. Too serious isn’t their style at all. Plus like… how’s he supposed to do that in front of everybody? Just because they know there’s something there doesn’t mean they need to put on a show.
He settles on the obvious, nice bottle of tequila and a couple of shot glasses. It’s not exactly personal, but it’s good enough to show the room.
Later, in a quiet moment they can steal away, Jeremy offers to take him out the next night.
“We’ll do the bar thing, just you and me. My treat.”
“Oh yeah? You’re buying my drinks all night?” Michael asks him with a sly grin.
“I uh- I’ll get your drinks for as long as you’ll have me.” and it doesn’t come out exactly right, but they both know what he means by it.
Earns him a smile and a sweet kiss, and that alone is worth it.
--
Michael pulls Jack, and he runs through a few options.
He considers buying her furniture, because he knows she'll need it when they all finally do move out. But Jack has a good head on her shoulders and probably already has that shit on lock.
He looks into custom shelving, for all the knick knacks she's collected over the years. He could get it designed in colors she'd like and shell out extra for lighting and all that shit. But she doesn't have a new place yet, as far as he knows, so that's kind of a bust.
He could give her what amounts to a gift certificate, an offer to pay for whatever she wants made, but that seems kind of… Empty?
There's the age old alcohol gift, but that's been done before, and is probably being done by almost everyone else.
He mentions to Lindsay how weirdly difficult it is to buy something for Jack, get’s zero advice but somehow helps her figure out the whole Matt mystery.
In the end he decides to help her out and piss her off, a little bit of a win-win kinda thing. He buys her a couple of new shirts, bold and flowery and almost as bad as Jeremy’s Rimmy Tim shtick. He hates them but he knows she loves them, so it’s worth it.
He tells her it’s because her old shirts gotta be falling out of fashion, an opinion she is not happy about.
But it’s fine, because he also gets her tickets to fucking Disney World, of all places. He even offers to go with her, which she absolutely takes him up on.
It’s more fun than he expects, and it’s a really good chance to actually spend some time with her. He hadn’t realized it had been so long.
--
Jack pulls Geoff, which.
It’s no secret that Geoff is a sentimental bastard when it comes to the crew. It’s exactly why he’d spent months talking to her about the possibility of selling the penthouse, trying to figure out exactly how everyone would react, trying to figure out how he would react to not having them all so close anymore. She spent countless nights listening to him wonder what it meant that he wanted his own space.
Objectively, he was probably a bad person but his love and fierce loyalty to the crew made up for that, in some ways, right? So how can he kick them out, how can he do this to them, he’s being selfish-
And she had just explained to him that he had to do what was right for him. That it was understandable. That he was right, they could all use the opportunity to be a little more independent. She was looking forward to having her own space, and in time the rest of them would too.
So when she pulls Geoff’s name, she knows she’s gotta lean into that a bit. She could get him some books, some puzzles maybe. He’d mentioned off-hand that he missed having the space for them, because the kitchen table was always covered in some sort of crew shenanigans.
She does get him those, because she knows they’ll get some use.
But the big thing is the collage.
She’s had pictures of the crew on her phone for years, dating all the way back to her and Geoff in a shitty apartment. She’s got some of Ray, curled up on the couch with a DS in his hand. Gavin and Michael wrestling one drunken night. Ryan, nodded off on the couch after a heist, face paint still on and a complete mess. Jeremy trying to teach Matt something resembling self-defense. Lindsay cuddling a stray cat she had taken in. Trevor and Alfredo in matching clothes, playing up the ‘twin’ joke that had been going around. Fiona in that bright yellow suit, modeling for her Instagram.
There’s one she gets at the last minute, gets somebody from the support team to take right before their latest heist. It’s all eleven of them, full heist get-up, masks and obnoxious fashion choices and guns tucked here and there. They’re in the boardroom, running through it one more time before they take off, and in retrospect, it’s probably the last time they’ll do that in that room.
She sets that one in the middle, surrounded by all of these moments from the last 12 years.
“For your new place, when you find it.” Jack says.
It’s beautiful, and it makes Geoff cry. It brings some sniffles from a lot of them, even if they all deny it.
Leaving the penthouse isn’t the easiest thing for any of them, but it’s the right move. After all, they’re still a family.

Father’s Day Gift Guide 2020
It’s impossible to buy gifts for a guy who’s into menswear, isn’t it? If he’s like me, he has such specific taste in pattern, color, fit, and even brands that it’s usually easier just to avoid that category of gifts all together and go with a tech or grill-related item. But, it’s not entirely hopeless! While I don’t speak for every menswear dude, I do have a pulse on what’s cool as well as what kinds of things make sense for a dad.
Here are three sound gift-giving principles to go by, plus a few specific gift ideas if the dad in your life is into classic menswear like me (i.e. tailored suits and jackets, fine leather shoes, that sort of thing).
Read on for the Menswear Musings Father’s Day Gift Guide 2020.
Principle 1: Give them something you know they want but wouldn’t buy for themselves
I call this The Rule of Giving Gifts. This is my universal gift-giving principle because we all have stuff we want and buy for ourselves—and then there are the luxuries, the things we would totally buy if money were no object, and opportunity cost wasn’t a thing. Receiving one of those things is always the best.
Principle 2: Don’t be afraid to get a gift card to a specific shop you know they like with a suggestion for a product you had in mind.
If the guy has really specific taste that you feel makes it impossible to shop for him, don’t be afraid to do this. This is exactly how I am, and my wife says it makes shopping for me fraught. Thankfully in her case, my brother and I are both on similar wavelengths, so she’s able to talk to him for gift ideas when she buys me stuff, otherwise she’d have no idea! It’d be like me trying to buy her something for our home decor, like a rug or throw—I think I could choose something good, but the risk is high I’d screw it up.
Principle 3: Get something you know the father in question loves, but make it one step up in quality
It’s said that all you need to really enjoy a bottle of wine is to buy something in the next price tier above what you normally drink (so get a $20 bottle if you normally buy $10 bottles). In the same vein, if you know he gets a lot of enjoyment out of a fine dress shirt, get him a shirt that’s a step up in quality, make and fabric.
If he likes… —> consider as an upgrade…
Dress shirts
Banana Republic —> Hugo Boss or Canali
J.Crew —> Polo Ralph Lauren
Brooks Brothers —> Drake’s
If he has trouble finding shirts that fit well —> a custom shirt from Proper Cloth or Spier & Mackay
Pocket squares and ties:
The Tie Bar —> Brooks Brothers squares and ties
Brooks Brothers —> Polo Ralph Lauren
Polo —> Drake’s
Jeans he can wear with a tailored jacket
American Eagle, Abercrombie or Uniqlo —> Polo Ralph Lauren
Levi’s, Gap or J.Crew —> Sid Mashburn
Polo Ralph Lauren —> 3Sixteen
Leather dress shoes:
Aldo —> Beckett Simonon
Johnston & Murphy —> Allen Edmonds
Allen Edmonds —> Alden, Brooks Brothers’ Peal & Co., or a sleek European maker like Crockett & Jones.
Combining this advice with the principle that it’s okay to say “Here, I got you a $150 gift card to Drake’s so you can buy a sweet tie” means that you can put great thought into your purchase, even if he’s got very specific taste.
Some specific gift ideas
Tumblr media
01/ Drake’s pocket square (any will do but this Tiger print square is amazing, and my wife bought me one for Father’s Day, actually)
02/ Drake’s tie (if he likes and wears ties, Drake’s is the best; they make slightly more fun, quirky designs, not just the staples like the one pictured; see here for a summer sale selection I recently published with more product recommendations)
03/ Sid Mashburn Masai belt (great with faded Levi’s, these are made by artisans in Kenya)
04/ La Matera woven Argentinian belt (my own dad showed me these recently; a cool-looking, fun belt that would wear well with faded denim)
05/ Corridor heavy linen overshirt (pockets are a great help for a dad, and a flowy but heavy linen overshirt would be a great layer he could add over another shirt)
06/ Dapper Woodworks custom wooden tie rack (read my review of this, with a 10% discount code here)
07/ This Guy: Portraits of Modern Men’s Style (interviews and photographs by venerable photographer Jamie Ferguson of influential menswear personalities, such as Antonio Ciongoli of Eidos and 18 East, Simon Crompton of Permanent Style, Jeremy Kirkland of Blamo! and more)
08/ Subscription to WM Brown (men’s magazine with equal parts menswear, watches, fraternal shenanigans and miscellaneous photo essays by the eminently likable Matt Hranek)
09/ Astorflex Greenflex (lined, with a bit more structure) or Driftflex desert boots (unlined and soft like traditional desert boots). Some of the most comfortable boots there are; I bought some recently and literally got half a dozen comments from strangers on Instagram saying how much they love theirs and were glad I’d gotten some.
10/ The Italian Gentleman (a compendium with beautiful photographs and histories of Italian fabric mills, tailors, shirtmakers, and others in Italy’s storied history of menswear by Hugo Jacomet of Parisian Gentleman)
11/ Subscription to The Rake (international men’s style magazine, with more attention to fine menswear and what makes it special than the GQs and Esquires of the world, plus lifestyle content often told first person, gonzo-style)
12/ Randolph Engineering sunglasses (the original aviator maker for the U.S. Air Force, a still independently owned business making high quality eyewear in the USA).
13/ Patreon subscription to Blamo! (a great podcast with men and women in the fashion world hosted by Jeremy Kirkland; a Patreon subscription gets you access to special guest interviews and first access to local events).
14/ T25 or another of Shaun T’s fitness videos (Big dork announcement: I do silly exercise moves that a ripped, shirtless dude on my iPad tells me to do in our spare room in order to stave off Dadbod for 25 minutes a day. But, you know what? It’s a one-time expense, no gym fees, no commute to the gym, and I save tons of time).
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there, and I hope this guide is helpful for those looking to get the fathers in their own lives something that communicates how special he is to you! If you need help choosing between two options or want advice for the father you’re buying for, feel free to comment below and I’ll get in touch!
(Help support this site! If you buy stuff through my links, your clicks and purchases earn me a commission from many of the retailers I feature, and it helps me sustain this site—as well as my menswear habit ;-)  Thanks!)

RECENT NEWS, RESOURCES & STUDIES, September 2019
Tumblr media
Welcome to my latest summary of recent news, resources & studies including search, analytics, content marketing, social media & ecommerce! This covers articles I came across in the past 5 weeks, although some may be older than that.
I am still working on scheduling enough time to post these every 10 days or so, but lately luck is just not on my side. Writing this elsewhere then cutting & pasting it here is creating some significant formatting issues, so if you find any errors or broken links, please let me know.
Are there types of news you would like to see here?  Leave a comment below, email me through my website, or send me a message on Twitter.
TOP NEWS & ARTICLES
Etsy introduced Etsy Ads at the end of August; I covered it on my blog. Some people are seeing decent returns, but many are not. I started a forum thread here for continuing discussion.
A day later, Amazon announced it has waived their $40 a month shop fee for Handmade by Amazon shops. See the pinned post on their Facebook page.
A large study of click-through-rates (CTR) on Google reveals that the top link gets over 30% of the clicks, titles with questions get 14% more clicks than those without, and moving up one slot in the results leads to more clicks, unless you move from 10th to 9th. They cite Etsy’s study of titles & CTR (which showed that shorter titles get more clicks, something that this study also found).
Trend watch: a suggestion that Americans can avoid most of the tariff pain in the pocketbook by buying used clothing & other items. “Secondhand and vintage is no longer synonymous with a dusty pile of outdated sweaters in the corner of a church basement, or a yearly rummage sale. Online resale, including high-end designer items, is booming, thanks to start-ups like The RealReal, Depop, Poshmark, eBay, and Etsy. It’s possible to fill your entire closet this way”. Pre-owned & rented clothing also makes fans of sustainability happy.
Also, “grandmillennials” are a thing.
ETSY NEWS
Etsy US searches often now have a full first page of items that ship free or have the $35 free shipping guarantee, as of September 6 (although they were testing it earlier than that.) I was seeing the rare exception, beyond searches that have fewer than 48 items shipping free, but it wasn’t clear if these are tests or personalization. Then on September 21, we started seeing many items with shipping charges on the first page of even very large results, & most smaller results didn’t give much if any priority to free shipping at all. There has been no statement from Etsy, so your guess is as good as mine ...
In the meantime, they’ve begun promoting free shipping to buyers, which has led to some media coverage. Some note that the timing is good, since most US holiday purchases online in the past several years have included free shipping.
There is a new chapter in the Ultimate Guide To Etsy Search, involving attributes. The accompanying podcast with Etsy’s head taxonomist [transcript with links to the podcast] is quite interesting. She says that one of the reasons that some attributes haven’t shown up yet as search filters is that not enough sellers have applied them to listings. “If we have 100,000 items in the search results and a buyer uses a filter, and that filter causes the results to return just 20 items, that makes it seem broken. The buyer no longer trusts the results. If only 20% of sellers fill out an attribute, showing a filter based on that attribute to buyers isn’t going to be helpful because such a drastic reduction in results makes them lose confidence in those search results. We have to wait until a large number of sellers fill out that data to show it to buyers as a filter. When we do, sellers who have filled out that attribute show in those filtered search results. Sellers who haven’t, don’t.” Also, “[w]e know that shoppers who interact with these filters tend to buy more expensive items.” And, there aren’t separate jewellery attributes for “gold”, “gold-filled” & “gold-plated” because “[m]any jewelry buyers don’t have your experience and don’t know the huge difference between these things.”
The new commercials were launched earlier this month; you can check them all out here, and here is some media coverage. Some analysts think this is a good thing for the stock.
Vox published  a review of Etsy’s latest free shipping push, in contrast with its history. [I am sure most of you have seen that, but if not, it is a good read!] “Silverman doesn’t like the words “handmade” or “craft” because they “don’t communicate anything to buyers about when to think of Etsy.” he says now. Nobody wakes up thinking, “Gosh, I need to buy something handmade today,” he tells me, which may be true but I rarely wake up thinking I need to buy anything at all, and more commonly wake up in horror because I’ve already bought way too much. “You need to furnish your apartment. You need to prepare for a party. You need to find a gift for a friend. You need a dress. Handmade is not the value proposition — unique, personalized, expresses your sense of identity, those are things that speak to buyers.” [emphasis added]  Also, apparently Etsy founder Rob Kalin “didn’t know what seed funding was when he took it”  😮
The new tool for creating country-specific sales is finally out. You still can’t create the equivalent of the $35 free shipping guarantee for countries other than the US, however, which makes this pretty useless for people wanting to offer free shipping in the US and to their own country. The only way to come close is to set a 30 day free shipping sale to your own country, but it won’t show up in search (unless people filter for free shipping) or get the Canadian search boost for items that ship free, and you still need to renew it every 30 days. In short, Etsy is telling us to overcharge our customers in other countries with no way to offer them the same deals Americans are getting.
Sellers can now use Etsy Labels for USPS First Class letters & flats.
Holiday tips continue to roll out: here are some ideas for running holiday sales and promotions on Etsy.
Advanced content on machine learning: Etsy is employing its data on styles to serve up personalized recommendations, including the “Our Picks for You” section on the home page. The purchase and favouriting rates are part of what gets shown. They’ve discovered that some styles are more popular are different times of the year.
For those of you who think Etsy doesn’t spend enough on advertising, they are actually buying spots on tv shows now, including this Las Vegas morning show. [video]
SEO: GOOGLE & OTHER SEARCH ENGINES
Sad to report that Keywords Everywhere is becoming a paid tool starting October 1st (although it may take longer to roll out to your account). https://keywordseverywhere.com/news.html  They need to do this because they were being scraped by bots, which was affecting user experience & costing them a lot of time and money.  Fortunately, it is still going to be very cheap - 10,000 keywords for $1 USD, purchased ahead of time as credits. They say that the average user will spend less than $2 a month, & I suspect that the average Etsy user will spend less. Once your account moves to a paid one, you will no longer see the search volume, cost per click & competition numbers under search terms until you buy credits, although the "related keywords" & "people also search" sections will still show up on the right side of Google search.  I usually do not recommend any paid tools, but I do think this will still be worth every penny, especially if you remember to turn it off when shopping instead of researching! Every comparable paid tool costs way more than this. And despite the rush of attention since their announcement, I still received a personal reply to my email within 24 hours.
You know how I always talk about nofollow links? They still exist, but Google has expanded their link attribution codes to include “sponsored” &  "ugc" (user generated content), and all might be crawled at any point after March 1, 2020. Moz did a top level explanation, and here is Google’s (shorter) summary. But it may not really matter much to the average site.
Want to rank well on Google and other search engines? Create “complete content.”
A followup on last edition’s discussion of canonical URLs - Google gets the final say. [video]
Google is now releasing monthly videos of their search news; first one is here.
Some of you will remember Moz’s Whiteboard Friday series on learning SEO in one hour. They’ve now compiled all 6 videos in one place.
And if you want to learn the basics of link building quickly, Moz has a short version of that chapter from their Beginner’s Guide to SEO.
If you are afraid you are missing some SEO rules on your top pages, check out this complete checklist for on-page SEO.
There are tons of SEO tools for Wordpress; here are 15 of the best.
Many people will find your blog through search engines, so make sure you use keywords in your blog posts.
If you have a website, check out 16 things that can harm your search engine rankings [semi-advanced in part, some points are discussing coding]
Success on YouTube involves SEO, something I find many users forget.
Mostly advanced: reminder that as of September 1, you can’t use robots.txt to tell Google not to index pages or sites.
Advanced content for website developers: you need to make sure the site is ready for SEO work.
There are always more Google updates; this one is still rolling out, and was confirmed by Google, but very few details were given. Sistrix did the first comprehensive analysis, although it is still early, and health and media sites seem to be the most dramatically affected.
CONTENT MARKETING & SOCIAL MEDIA (includes blogging & emails)
Marketing emails need to be carefully designed for success. Everything from the layout to the “preheader” matters.
If you have content on one medium that is doing well for you, it’s time to “repurpose” it for different platforms.
Infographics are very popular in content marketing; here’s how to make one, with 15 free templates.
Some Instagram posts do better than others; here’s why. Among other study findings, “smaller profiles which use more hashtags actually do see better engagement rates per post.”
If you aren’t getting much interaction on Instagram, you could be “shadowbanned.” There are ways to avoid that happening, and ways to fix it when it does.
“Content factories” are a big part of Instagram traffic. Maybe Facebook should crack down on this?
Pinterest is combining image recognition visual search with Shoppable Pins.
Facebook is considering hiding the like counts on News Feed posts, as Instagram is testing in 7 countries right now. “The idea is to prevent users from destructively comparing themselves to others and possibly feeling inadequate if their posts don’t get as many Likes. It could also stop users from deleting posts they think aren’t getting enough Likes or not sharing in the first place.”
Video app TikTok can be confusing, so here is a step-by-step guide for beginners. And here’s a podcast [with text] on the basics.
Twitter chats are a great way to attract interest in your business.
ONLINE ADVERTISING (SEARCH ENGINES, SOCIAL MEDIA, & OTHERS)
Facebook is testing new shopping ads, but they are only available to small groups at the moment: checkout from the Facebook app, and turning Instagram shopping posts into ads. Here’s more on the latter.
Snapchat now has longer ads and different formats.
I see a lot of questions on what you can advertise on various platforms; here’s a good summary of items/topics prohibited on major sites.
Since so many sellers are interested in other types of advertising right now, here are a few primers, most of which I have posted here before: Setting up Google Shopping for your website Instagram Sponsored Posts How to beat Facebook’s ad algorithm Setting up Pinterest ads
STATS, DATA, OTHER TRACKING
Have Google Analytics set up on your website but don’t know how to use it? Here are some common features [text and video] you may want to take advantage of. Note that the part about setting it up doesn’t apply to most marketplaces and many website builders, which have a more simplified set up, as Etsy does.
The old Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools) is now almost entirely converted to the new version. Expect all of the old reports to be moved to the new version soon.
ECOMMERCE NEWS, IDEAS, TRENDS
There’s new evidence that Amazon has skewed its search algorithm to favour its own products & third-party products that make Amazon the most money. ”Executives from Amazon’s retail divisions have frequently pressured the engineers at A9 to surface their products higher in search results, people familiar with the discussions said.” In case that WSJ article goes back behind a paywall, here is some news coverage of it. “Instead of adding profitability into the algorithm itself, Amazon changed the algorithm to prioritize factors that correlate with profitability, the article said.” Amazon denies this, of course.
Despite the legal agreement in Germany, Amazon is still suspending accounts without 30 days notice.
Want to use cash to pay for online purchases? Amazon is now offering that option in the US.
eBay listings now default to 1-day handling; if you ship slower than that, make sure to remember to change the default on each new listing you make.
eBay managed payments (the equivalent of Etsy Payments) are now available in Germany.
A review of major shipping trends in ecommerce notes that “[t]he accelerated supply chain is putting small sellers at a crossroads regarding if they can afford to take a hit on margins” when discussing Etsy’s free shipping push.
BUSINESS & CONSUMER STUDIES, STATS & REPORTS; SOCIOLOGY & PSYCHOLOGY, CUSTOMER SERVICE
Over ⅓ of US adults have bought something on social media, over 50% of 18-34 year olds are in that group. Far fewer had used visual search or virtual reality.
More people are shopping online late at night; women are more likely to do it, but men spend more when they do. [I’ve noticed this trend on my site and Etsy shop for a few years now, compared to when I first started selling in 2008.]
The majority of shoppers worldwide who are online use videos to make some purchase decisions, as shopping lists, how-to research, and to check reviews.
Gen Z (the generation after millennials) is more concerned about their health than the the previous 2 generations, and sometimes avoid the stresses of social media by shopping in brick & mortar stores. “About two-thirds (67%) of Gen Z prefer products made with ingredients they can understand, and tend to buy products in health and wellness categories more frequently than other generations. On environmental issues, 65% said they prefer simple packaging and 58% said they want eco-friendly packaging. Half of the group seeks products that are locally sourced or made, and 57% are seeking products that are environmentally sustainable, but fewer are willing to pay a premium price for them.”
For the 2019 holiday season, “65% of holiday shoppers will use a mobile device to shop, and 65% will make an online purchase via mobile.”
How do different industries get their online traffic? Google sends sites 8 times more traffic than all social media sites combined, and Facebook drives nearly ⅔ of all visits from social media. Instagram is responsible for less than 1%, while Twitter tops 10%. The author notes that “faster-growing social networks like Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok are designed from the ground up in a way that makes it difficult to drive traffic to external sites.”
MISCELLANEOUS (including humour)
Google is working on letting you search your Google Photos for text; it seems to be using AI to identify & store the text in your screenshots and other images. It’s interesting technology that will likely be used in many ways, including search engines, if it works well.
If you like convo snippets on Etsy, here’s a tool that will make them possible in many more places.
Need a photo editor that works on mobile? Here’s a list of 12, most of which are free or cost only $1 USD.
This one simple trick makes everything faster and easier.
Stuff that probably shouldn’t taste like pumpkin spice. [humour]

it seems that the squad is in the christmas mood so what gifts do the boys get for their girls? and the other way round?
@shingeki-no-scenarios @wallsinner @eren-my-sweet @bakachanx3 💜💜💜💜💓💓💓💓❄️
Marvie:
Marco: he keeps tabs on stuff Stevie has said throughout the year that she’s interested in, so he tries to surprise her with it during Christmas. He likes to throw in smaller gifts as well, like fluffy socks and bathbombs!
Stevie: I could see her getting him some nice clothes that she thinks would look nice on him. But honestly, a scrapbook of their cutest couple moments, soemthing they can look at together and enjoy. It’s cute and while it drives Stevie up the wall, it’s worth it seeing the sparkle in Marco’s eyes!
Coltzi:
Colt: he probably gets her clothes, specifically cute pajama’s or some shirt for bands and shows she likes! He likes to see her relaxed and thinks she looks really cute all bundled up! He may throw in some bathbombs and candles in order to increase the relaxation factor.
Franzi: I can imagine Franzi giving Colt something like a homemade sweater and I have no idea why??! But the thought won’t leave my head and it’s cute af, it just has his initials on it and like puppies, it’s cheesy but cute.
Erena:
Eren: p u p p y no but really, he’d want to get her something from the heart, if not something funny. I can imagine him giving her a shirt with his face on it saying “back off boi, she mine” with annoying emojis. He also throws in some candy that she really likes! Maybe some cute lingerie
Rena: Tasteful nudes. She’d get him a video game he’s been eyeing, especially if it’s something she knows he’s been dying over. She would also get him custom made controllers, something that has a lot of sentimental value attached to it.
Jiwin:
Erwin: Jewerly. Something expensive that he has either engraved with something sweet on it or has her birth stone on it. He throws in trips to spas and all that to help her relax!
Ji: I can see her getting him a nice watch or some adult stuff, like some books or kitchenware he had been needing out about. She likes to keep him happy!
Mean:
Jean: he tries to listen to what I like or have been talking about getting, and will buy me what I have been wanting or stuff related to things I like. He tries to act like it’s no big deal but he puts thought into making sure I really like this. Also socks, I always tell him to get me fluffy socks. Or mugs. Or pint glasses. Or -
Maddy: I like to get sentimental gifts, either stuff I make or stuff with us on it. Cheesy I know, but I’d probably get him a mug with our cute couple photos on it. Pop sockets with my face on it for his phone. I have in the past done one of those jars with 100 nice things written on it, and that’s pretty cute!

“Stevie, take it easy, pal. We still have some time before dinner time. You can choose whichever slowly,” Bucky huffed, shaking his head as he looked at his little spitfire fondly, who seemed so unsure which toy he wanted to get. It had been a long while since they managed to shop together like this, especially as it was getting closer to Christmas holiday. Last year was a lonely one for both of them, as Bucky couldn’t go home from his tour and Steve stuck with his Poppa and Nana. It broke his heart so much when he tried to video call his family, only to see Steve wailed really hard for his Dadda until the boy fell asleep, still crying. But now he came home for real and could spend all time he had with his beloved son. Taking the little guy to the toys store to pick up what Steve wanted for his Christmas gift seemed like a great idea a few hours ago.
And it didn’t even take more than 30 minutes until Bucky completely lost him.
                                        ・。・゜★・。・。☆・゜・。
He knew he shouldn’t go to the store alone without any supervisions or guarding. Even Happy didn’t know that his employer just gone from the office, wearing the best civilian, cheap clothes he got and simply dashed into the said best toys shop in the city. Tony Stark probably could just get whatever he needed right now by ordering online. Heck, maybe even bought five the exact things. Maybe even the most expensive one in the world with just a single click from his tablet.
But no, Pepper would be so pissed if Tony tried to spoil her daughter, Gwen, by buying yet another expensive toy for the lovely baby girl’s Christmas present. But then again, Tony just wanted to be the coolest uncle ever (besides Rhodey, maybe, they could share the honorable title with him) for her. Also, again, Pepper would notice if Tony bought anything suspicious like the last time he bought the $300,000 Barbie doll for Gwen. Or that one time when he bought a dollhouse worth at least $250,000. Partially, it was his fault for just bought whatever caught his eyes in the first place.
It was just a present, Gwen shouldn’t care about how much they worth and simply played with the gifts!
Alas, the parents knew and Pepper banned him to buy anything online or way too expensive anymore. So here he was, at the suburban area that somehow had the best and apparently also the largest toy store in the whole city. Fair enough, since the said store was more like a renovated warehouse anyway. Thus, the adventure began from the time Tony entered the place, which rather packed with families right now because the Winter holiday was approaching fast.
Lucky for him, no one seemed to notice his face yet. So he could quietly slipped deeper into the store while looking around.
What he didn’t expect was that there was a little boy who was sleeping alone. On top of a big teddy bear’s belly. And no one else seemed to see it as a strange scene. Some questions had been inside Tony’s head already: who’s this boy? Why is he alone? How old is he, Jesus Christ, he’s so tiny and very skinny but adorable with those Captain America onesie getup hidden briefly under another layer of warm clothes awww - but where’s the parents? Tony didn’t hear any announcements or a voice of distress parents calling names for their child yet. But there was no way this boy was walking alone, right? Despite how much he didn’t want to get involved and only wanted to look for the presents, Tony could imagine how the parents would feel when they knew they just lost their kids inside the store. It wasn’t like the little boy was equipped with any kind of gadgets for the parents to call as well.
Groaning internally, Tony walked closer to the boy who started to stir awake. Let’s just hope he won’t cry or even wail enough for other people to accuse him as a kidnapper, geez.
“Heya, little dude. Sleep well? I assume you’re not walking around the shop alone, since you look really small and I don’t think any parents should allow you to do that yet.” Welp, that earned the man some sleepy glare, which should look a bit scary, but somehow made the boy looked even cuter. “Not that I think you’re small small, I mean uh - anyway, where’s you parents? Are you here with them, right? You got separated?”
And the little kid - Tony noticed how blue his eyes were - only stared at him, looking unconvinced. Slowly, the boy wiped his eyes with one hand before stepping down from the teddy bear. Blue eyes still looked up at Tony.
“...Dadda said not to talk to a stranger if I’m alone. And I don’t know you.” Oh good, the boy was speaking, yay. Tony was afraid what if the boy wasn’t old enough to even speak proper English yet, but it seemed he underestimated how fast children could grow nowadays. The man grinned, giving his best, mostly not - well, hopefully not that kind of awkward, smile and crouching down to the boy’s level.
“Your Dadda is a good man and you’re such a good kid for listening to him. So I suppose a proper introduction is in order, you know, so we can get to know to each other and we’re no longer strangers. Well, technically still strangers, but at least there’s a progress. So? I’m Tony, what’s your name, little guy?”
Another glare, before the boy said, “I’m not little, I’m 3,” well it’s still too little for Tony, but he won’t argue with that, “....’m Steve.”
Honestly, Tony’s heart melted a little when he saw how brave and yet still so shy this Steve boy acted towards the man. Now he really wanted to make sure the boy returned safely to his parents, almost instantly forgetting his own mission to the store. Well, it was a big store, he could still find something proper later on. Now, back to Steve.
“Oh, wow okay Steve, you’re a big boy then. My bad. Nice to meet you, glad we’re already on first name basis at our first meeting or we had to go through boring and awkward situation before getting where we are,” okay, no more rambling to the poor kid. Tony would just confuse him even more. “So, Steve, Stevie, can you tell me where the last time you see your Dadda? Or Momma? You go together with them, right?”
Tony swore the kid’s expression changed for a brief seconds there before he looked down at the floor, two small hands played with the hem of his sleeve. “Don’t have mommy. Only with Dadda,” Steve mumbled, which made a wonder, and another ton of questions but Tony kept them to himself.
“With your Dadda, then.” the man nodded, “What do you say if we go to the help center and wait for your Dadda there? I’m pretty sure it’ll be kinda pointless to search for him by ourselves in this big place, so we should go and make sure he can find you at one place. What do you say?”
“And how can I be sure that you won’t trick and kidnap me?” Wow, this kid was really perceptive and fully aware his situation could go wrong if he wasn’t careful to who he should trust. Tony absolutely underestimated this little guy so much. Quick, think of something.
“Because,” Tony shushed, looking around before beckoning the kid to come closer. He pulled his right sleeve a bit to reveal a rather gaudy toy watch with Iron Man design on it - courtesy of his lovely niece Gwen, and she insisted Tony to keep wearing it and somehow it became his habit now. Even if he had some proper watches collection. “Don’t tell anyone, but I’m actually Iron Man, Cap. I know you’re actually Captain America, right? I can see through you with those kind of red-white-blue outfit you hid inside that jacket, you know.”
“You’re silly,” Steve giggled, and Tony grinned again.
“Oh, am I now? I’m hurt, Cap, I thought you’ll be less judgmental in person.” He faked a gasp, one hand clenching his chest before grinning again, “Us Avengers have to watch each other’s back, no? So why don’t you let me help you for this once? Pinky promise no funny business, I can swear it by my Arc Reactor. I’d say my heart, but I guess my Arc Reactor is one and another my second heart and even more important to keep me alive anyway, so there’s that.”
“You’re still silly, but alright, Mister Tony. My Dadda likes Iron Man too and I think I can trust you not going to do anything funny to me.”
“I probably already said this, but your Dadda is a good man with a good taste,” he laughed, “Now I can’t wait to see what your Dadda looks like, I have a hunch that me and your Dadda can get along just fine with our similarity, then.”
                                       ・。・゜★・。・。☆・゜・。
Turned out Steve’s father had a pair blue eyes as well. Very blue eyes and Tony was entrapped. He probably lost a few first words here and there, okay, maybe a lot of words when they finally met at the customer help desk. The very first part that he was aware was those gorgeous blue eyes and  deep, raspy voice probably roughed up because he shouted too much for his son, and -
“Mr. Tony?”
Oh, oh. Shit. How long he had been staring, again? “Yes? Yeah, uhm, I’m still listening. Got a bit distracted a bit just now. Too much noises around here, don’t you think - what was it that you said again?”
Tony thought the man would be offended at least, but he just gave Tony an understanding smile. “I can sympathize. Not quite a fan of crowded places with too much noises myself, but I’m trying. What I wanted to say was thank you for finding and bringing Steve here for me.” Bucky smiled at the little boy, who curled himself up on Bucky’s arms and wrapped his tiny arms around the man’s neck, looking ready to sleep again. “I was panicking and probably running around the store just to find him until I got back my common sense and went to the customer desk before I started crying myself.”
Oh, dear God, those laughter. Tony was pretty sure that it should be so illegal to laugh or even chuckle so beautifully like that. The father himself in overall had been already illegal. Not only just because of those blue eyes, but that strong jaw, those impressive cheekbones that probably could cut, rather long hair that look quite silky that he tied into a messy bun that suited the man so much, how the corners of his eyes crinkled when he laughed -
Wait, why was the father still laughing at him?
“Believe me, my hair usually ain’t as silky as you think. Maybe because I took the wrong shampoo rather than my usual one for a whole month and didn’t realize it. Who knows a baby shampoo can do such a thing.”
Tony smacked his face as hard as he could. “Oh, my God. Did I say it out loud in front of you? I said it out loud in front of you and your kid. Oh God. I swear I’m not a creep, I just have a tendency to say whatever came out in my mind and it’s not helping since I have a very big mouth - no other intention intended. I’m so sorry about this. I hope you won’t sue me. Please don’t sue me. I still have to attend the Christmas party with all my friends - which probably can be counted with one hand - and spend more time with my lovely little niece. What would she think if she knew his cool uncle just got into prison because he just accidentally compliments his sudden crush - I’m going to shut up now before you really want to sue me.”
To his surprise, the father didn’t seem to annoyed to the very least. He just simply...blushed and scratched the back of his neck with his free hand. “Uhm, thank you? I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that if you want. And no, I won’t sue you. You just saved my Stevie from getting lost too far. Besides, he said you’re, like, Iron Man?” he teased, starting to sound more confident, “No way I’m going to sue Iron Man who just saved my son, he’s way too cool for being taken into prison for that. And I’m a big fan of Iron Man myself. Isn’t that right, Stevie?” The said boy looked up at both Tony and Bucky, smiled sleepily and continued burying his face to the man’s shoulder.
Tony blinked stupidly, “Really?” he cleaned his throat before smirking at the man, “Really, now. Glad to hear that then, Steve’s father.”
“Bucky.”
“Bless you.”
“No, not that,” the man - Bucky - snorted. “That’s my name. Well, James, actually. But no one calls me that unless you’re my Ma.”
“Bucky, eh? Nice to meet you. I like the sound of it, suits you. I was gonna ask where you got ‘Bucky’ out of James, but I guess you got other people asking you that a lot and it seems like a question for a first date thing - I mean. Shi - shoot, sorry. No, not that I want to pressure you with such a thing. I just like talking whatever came out of my mind, again. This sounds awkward already, sorry about that.”
“No, that’s okay. Well, Mr. Iron Man,” Bucky bit his lower lip, considering, “I was hoping maybe you can join us for tonight’s dinner as a thank you, it’s the least I can do to repay you. Maybe by then we can get to know each other fairly well, don’t you think? Unless if you already had a plan.”
Again, Tony blinked, “Dinner? With you and Steve? You sure I won’t interrupting your family bonding time?”
“Absolutely sure. And I’m sure Steve will be so thrilled anyway. I can see he already likes you enough. He doesn’t trust people so easily like he does to you. Most of the time he will run away as fast as he can if he doesn’t feel safe around strangers, Stevie is intuitive like that.“
Tony was pretty sure his heart just swelled in pride. “S-Sure, yeah. I’d like that very much. So, like, numbers exchange? So you can send me your address and time? Promise I’ll be there on time.”
“Smooth, but alright,” Bucky chuckled, fishing out his phone to exchange his number with Tony.
“It’s a date, then,” Tony said casually when he pressed save button for Bucky’s number on his phone, but froze when he saw Bucky raised his eyebrow, realization of what he just said. “I mean, like, with family. So it’s a family date? Dinner? No? Alright, sorry, didn’t mean to say that.”
“Tony, calm down. You look like you’re about to burst into fire like that,” the brunet chuckled, shifting Steve on his arm. Cheeks flushed red a little. “It can be a family date if you want. We - well, I - I’d like to know more about you.”
“...really?”
Bucky nodded, and it was Tony’s turn to blush as he gave his charming smile.
“It’s a family date, then.”

Valentine Gift Ideas for Guys
Tumblr media
Hey You!  Happy February and Black History Month!
Everyone knows February for its cold weather, BHM and for its sale of cheap candy. We also know February for the Valentine’s Day! I recently saw an article about whether women should go all out for valentine’s day for their boyfriends/husbands as they do. I was humored but not surprised to see the outrage from men in the comments, most of whom said that the guys needed to be wine and dined just as much as the women once in a while. But we all know buying gifts for guys, whether it is your father’s birthday or a Christmas gift for your brother, is difficult. How do we give gifts of appreciation to the men in our lives in a world where hyper-masculinity is still a thing, and getting flowers and chocolate will make you look “soft”, and/or he has a hard time showing emotion. Let’s break that barrier and get him something thoughtful this year and the many to come.
I have constructed a list of how you can show appreciation on Valentine’s Day to the men in your life, whether it is you boyfriend of one year or your guy friend from class that always compliments your hair. This gift ranges as low as $5 so it is perfect for any budget!
Hopefully this will be the last ultimate gift list you will need!
Gift Ideas on Valentine’s Day for Him
Get them a card. I know this seems like the lazy route, but I’ve always appreciated a nice card. Get him one with a gift card (with a store they really like but rarely go in) and a nice thoughtful message. DO NOT LEAVE THE CARD BLANK! Write about how much he means to you, how he inspires you to do better every day, or maybe something encouraging to start off the year. Words can do much more than material things.
Make a video message. A card isn’t his thing? Try creating a “video” card about him, and throw in some memories from the year you two have had. This doesn’t have to go down the sappy route, throw in some funny/embarrassing moments in your video, or some throwback photos of him when he was younger. It will surely make him laugh, and he will appreciate the effort you put in. Don’t forget to put it on a DVD or USB stick and give it to him physically.
Pay for the dinner bill. Take him out to dinner (and a place HE likes to eat). Guys like to be wine and dined too, so let him know before ordering that you will be paying for the meal. It may take some convincing at first, and he might even be uncomfortable with the idea if you bring it up too late, so let him know early that this is something you want to do to show your appreciation.
Art. Artwork or a poster from a an artist or a graphic designer is always a great gift, especially if it is custom made. If you want to go the extra mile, find a local artist and pay them to paint/draw a portrait of your special someone.
Buy him something practical. If you have been hearing him complain about something often, find a way to solve that problem. This is affordable yet very thoughtful, it shows that you are listening.
Does he take tend to miss the bus to his commute to work or class in the winter? Treat him to a $50 Uber Gift card so he can get a luxury ride.
Is he trying to grow out his hair and beard? Make him a hair care package/basket with fancy shampoos, treatments and hair picks. You can even throw in The Art of Growing a Beard, a book by Marvin Grosswirth.
Does he live in the gym? Buy a small gym bag and fill it with essentials like protein shakes or Gatorade, and throw in a nice smoothie/water bottle.
See him peeking in a particular clothing store every time you go to the mall? Buying him clothes/shoes will always be appreciated.
Splurge & Get an Accessory.  Nothing wrong with a nice watch, cap/hat or designer sunglasses. Guys like jewelry too!
Get him a video game. I didn’t know how expensive one game for a Nintendo Switch cost. He would definitely appreciate it if he is a gamer. If you REALLY want to splurge, get him the whole console lol.
Too busy to go out to eat? Order him lunch. Send a surprise lunch order to his workplace. Not only is it thoughtful but it shows that you know what type of food he enjoys (or doesn’t enjoy).  Make sure to get the restaurant to write a nice valentine’s day note for him as well, and let them know it is a gift. If you have time you can even deliver it yourself (just make sure he is comfortable with that). Surprises are always nice. Uber Eats and Just Eat are both great, just put his phone number and the address of where you want them to go.
Get Party Favs! If your male companion is a fun extrovert who loves to entertain, get him an item that would make him be the life of any party. From collectible shot glasses to social card/board games, anything that will be fun with a group or just the two of you.
Make a scrapbook of memories. If you have a lot of photos of each other, print them off and put them in a photo album, scrapbook, a custom social media calendar, array of snow globes, string with clothing pins, mood board, etc. Always remind him of the good times you have shared with each other.
Does he love music? Make him a playlist! Super cheesy but if he is a true music lover he would love to receive a playlist with his favourite artists on a CD or USB stick. If he has a vinyl player you can be creative and make a record of the playlist. You can splurge and even get him wireless headphones, or even speakers so he can play the playlist aloud.
This is my wonderful list of ideas, if you have any more ideas PLEASE feel free to add unto my list! Sometimes we forget that the men in our lives need love too on Valentine’s Day, so don’t forget to put thought into the gifts for your Valentine!
Sincerely,
ArienneJay, the fashionable introvert

“Discover How to Grow Delicious, Organic, Pesticide-Free Mushrooms at a Fraction of the Cost of Buying Them from Supermarkets”
If you want to become an expert mushroom grower, whether as a hobby or for profit, keep reading, because this is the most important page you’ll ever read.
You see, I love to eat mushrooms. I put them on salads, soups, stews and practically anything else I make.
Shockingly, I found troubling news.
Did you know that mushrooms are as absorbent as sponges?
Pesticides sprayed on them by farmers encompass their whole being.
And, as you probably already know, pesticides are very harmful; here’s a description of the severe side effects of pesticides:
Reading this information was enough for me to stop eating mushrooms.
But, my love for the food moved me to learn how to cultivate mushrooms myself…
Through the process of learning how to grow mushrooms, I made a lot of mistakes, but also gained a lot of knowledge and practical experience.
Never giving up, I learned how to cultivate healthy, organic, natural mushrooms and at a fraction of the cost of store-bought ones.
I soon started having more mushrooms than I could use myself, and so started giving to family and friends…and everybody said that they were the tastiest mushrooms they had ever had!
I decided to try selling at a local fair, and EACH PERSON who bought from me that day, came back for more…
The demand for my organic mushrooms was so high that I started my own mushroom growing business. It was an immediate success and is still one of the top organic mushroom producers in the country.
The great thing about growing mushrooms organically is that people are willing to pay you much, much more for them than what they would pay for non-organic varieties, because today everybody is realizing how harmful pesticides can be.
One day, a customer asked me to teach him how to grow mushrooms. I happily showed him.
And that’s when the idea of teaching people how to grow their own healthy organic, pesticide-free mushrooms was born!
A few months down the road, and I created the Mushroom Growing 4 You™ system, so you, too, can stop buying harmful mushrooms from the market but still enjoy eating mushrooms.

  “I harvested my first home-grown mushrooms…”
“I harvested my first home-grown mushrooms today and I am so happy! I love eating mushrooms and have been thinking about trying to grow them for a while, but I always thought it was extremely hard and believed you needed specialized equipment. Then a few weeks ago I stumbled across your site and felt I should give it a try. I was amazed at how much your guide simplified things, and I got started right away. Today I can say that I’m a mushroom grower…thanks to you! I’m already thinking about scaling up and trying to turn this into a source of income. Wish me luck!”

“We found your guide very helpful and the videos made sure that we were getting all the steps correctly…”
“Dear Jake, I purchased “Mushroom Growing 4 You” a few months ago and today I came across your website again and felt I owed you a thank you note. You see, I was never into gardening; don’t really have the patience for it. As of last year, my wife has been suffering from a lot of allergic reactions (mainly asthma, eczema and hay fever) and her doctor told her that it was likely that chemicals and synthetics in the food are triggering her symptoms. We have therefore been buying only organic produce. Her symptoms have gotten much better, but grocery bills have shot through the roof as organic vegetables are over twice the price of normal ones. Therefore we have taken up gardening so that we can grow our own organic vegetables, and with your help, we are also growing our own mushrooms! We found your guide very helpful and the videos made sure that we were getting all the steps correctly. Thank you for showing us how.”
Ron Altmann – Albury, Australia
“Thankfully, your guide is extremely easy to mushrooms successfully…”
“I’ve read countless manuals and books about mushroom growing before but yours is the only one which made me feel confident that I could actually grow mushrooms. All the other guides I’ve read were full of technical jargon and often advocated the use of expensive equipment, which doesn’t really make sense if one is only trying to grow on a home-scale level. Thankfully, your guide is written in plain English and it made it extremely easy for me to get started and grow mushrooms successfully. I’ve also built my own incubation and fruiting chamber by following your instructions, and they’ve only cost me a few dollars of materials. Two thumbs up from me!”
Ute Fritsch – Berlin, Germany
“Thank you once again for your encouragement and for your wonderful guide.”
“Hi Jake, I wanted to thank you once again for your encouragement and for your wonderful guide. Before reading Mushroom Growing 4 You I had no clue on what was involved in mushroom growing…now my family has been eating yummy home-grown mushrooms for two weeks! Best of all is the feeling I get knowing that I am feeding my kids pesticide-free mushrooms, and they have told me that ‘daddy’s mushrooms’ taste better than the ones we used to buy from the supermarket. Not to mention that they work out to be much cheaper too! I can honestly say that your system is worth its weight in gold!”
Andrew Dawson – Arizona, USA
“I love your system not only because it contains all the information…”
“I hope everyone who is trying to grow mushrooms finds your system; seriously it should be the bible of mushroom growing. It walked me from the very start to harvesting, and the mushrooms themselves taste fantastic. The videos were particularly helpful as I felt that I was there with you when you were growing your mushrooms. I love your system not only because it contains all the information I needed to be successful with mushroom growing, but best of all it simplified it so much that even someone with no clue on the topic can be successful. Now I want to try to grow a couple of different mushrooms strains as I’m getting more confident and I actually enjoy growing mushrooms!”
Helen Richards – Edinburgh, UK
“I have increased my mushroom growth rate by about 25%…”
“Hello Jake. I had been growing mushrooms for a few years before discovering your system. I bought it because I thought I may learn something new, and I was right! I have increased my mushroom growth rate by about 25% and I have also implemented your tips to increase moisture, and this has had a noticeable positive impact on mushroom taste and texture (my wife agrees!). I think most people forget the importance of moisture when it comes to mushrooms. I also like the way you describe on how to build your own still air glove box and incubation chamber using cheap parts – I had bought mine for a few hundred dollars! If you’re ever in Texas let me know and I’ll buy you a beer.”
Valerie Fenech
“I’ve just had my first homegrown mushroom…”
“Goodbye pesticide-laden mushrooms, hello delicious organic mushrooms – thanks to you! In the first email I sent you I had told you how anxious I was as I’m not too gifted when it comes to growing stuff, but you were right, I actually managed to get this right the first time. I’ve just had my first homegrown mushrooms in a salad together with some fresh tomatoes, cucumber and lettuce with a dash of olive oil, and I dare say that it was the best salad I’ve ever had. Of course I’m slightly biased as the mushrooms were my own, but still! I’m so excited about growing more and more mushrooms and look forward to more tasty salads! Cheers”
David Simons
“Everybody told me that the mushrooms tasted amazing…”
“Hello Mr. White,
I’ve been making good money selling mushrooms and I thought the least I could do is send you an appreciation email. You see, before coming across your system, I had no idea what mushroom growing involves, but I was keen to try as I’ve already been selling some organic produce (mainly tomatoes and bell peppers) and I was well aware at how lucrative this market is, especially nowadays with the rising food prices. Anyway, I bought your system, read it from cover to cover and watched all the videos. My first mushroom attempt was a small scale one, but it made me confident that I could grow mushrooms successfully and I tasted first hand at how great the mushrooms tasted.
So I scaled up a bit and distributed all the harvest among family and friends to get some feedback, and everybody told me that the mushrooms tasted amazing and they had better texture and firmness than the ones they buy from supermarkets. I’ve now gotten myself a deal with some grocers who sell organic produce, and I’ve been making superb money for almost three months. I’m going to scale up some more as I’m struggling to meet the demand! Thank you once again, I owe you one. ”

Once a bee learns to fly
Written for @acespnminibang
Author: ifonenight / buckybee  Artist: Thette / @bold-sartorial-statement  Rating: Mature Pairing(s): Dean Winchester/Castiel Word Count: 5195 Summary: Cas, ace as they come, hand makes sex toys as a job-slash-hobby, and wears things that make him feel pretty in his spare time. He’s doing well all by himself, but when a client, impalabatmobile-67, asks for a special tutorial, Cas will find himself intrigued. Author Notes: I wanted to write a story where Cas didn’t care for sex at all, but still enjoyed some things that society associate with sex. And how he lived it.  Links to fic and art: FIC/ART
Mid September
The water was warm on Cas’ skin, chasing the last residues of sleep away. He tilted his head up, letting the spray hit him on his chin, nose, eyes, a last goodbye to the cozy atmosphere of his bed, and then turned the shower off, stepping out onto the worn out carpet. He shivered at the cold room - save money, save money, save money - and hurried to cocoon himself in his big towel, one of the only luxuries he allowed himself.
Mornings had always been hard for him. Waking up was really one of the worse parts of his days, which probably told something about himself he didn’t want to analyze too deeply. But alas, it had to be done.
He yawned, pulling on a soft pair of pants and an old sweater, and wandered in his tiny kitchen. Time to start the day, apparently.
Sitting at the kitchen table some time later, a cup of coffee and a snack on hand, Cas felt definitely readier to start his day. His laptop was silently coming to life in front of him, and he put his password in, lazily watching the enlarged photo of a bee appearing on the screen.
It was a nice picture, good quality and a lovely subject, and he smiled faintly at it; that had been a nice summer, the year he had taken it, mostly spent bonding with his sister and coming to terms - good terms - with his sexuality. It would always be a fond memory, captured in an almost monochrome photo.
As soon as all the icons settled on the screen he opened his browser, starting to type in the address bar - he need to check his email, couldn’t postpone his assignments any longer - but his eyes were caught by Tumblr’s little square, listed between his favourite websites on the home page.
He hesitated. He really should’ve started working on his essay, but he still had a week before he had to turn it in, and seeing how his business was doing wasn’t exactly the most irresponsible thing to do. Just a couple of minutes, ten at most, and then he would face the first, blank page of the essay.
His personal blog’s dashboard appeared on the screen, full of kittens’ videos and fandom posts, but he managed to resist the temptation and ignored them, quickly changing blog and switching to his professional one.
Dildos, lingerie, padded handcuffs, floggers, feathers, they were all there, showing up nicely in his layout. And he had had fun making every one of them.
His business was simple and entertaining, yes, if a bit unorthodox. Handmade sex-toys, not too expensive but of good quality, simple yet original, seemed to be well liked out there.
He had started making them for friends, fellow students who came to know about his art-and-craft skills by his brother.
They were the ones that actually suggested to expand his work to something less innocent than stuffed animals, only half-seriously. He treated it as a joke a first, giving a sparkling dildo to a girl as a birthday gift, making the toys funny rather than useful, but it turned out he was actually good at it and he had slowly got more and more requests, until he had decided to make a little business out of it; he had also started to offer advice and tutorials after a while, for free. He didn’t earn a lot, but it was still something, and it was nice.
Despite the endless teasing his brother subjected him to every time he saw him, Cas was quite happy with what he was doing.
It wasn’t fancy, or big, but it was a nice way to help paying for his everyday needs. And it wasn’t really demanding - he only had to do what he liked to do, and he usually found a way to include his work in his classes’ researches, and that made things pretty interesting.
His askbox warned him he had almost fifty new messages; opening it, he began to sort through them: a dozen were specific orders – mostly for dildos and collars; some were from shy anons exposing their problems with their sexuality or gender and asking for someone to listen – and he would have to answer them before the next day, as he didn’t like to leave that kind of asks lingering more than it was necessary; one was from a customer who hadn’t understood that this blog was only a catalogue and that, unless it was a custom made order, clients were to go to his Etsy, linked at the end of each toy post, and in his description, and in his FAQs, and buy his stuff there; finally, there was a request for a tutorial.
He send back a short reply to the inattentive customer, redirecting him to his shopping page, and then, curios, he scrolled up to the tutorial request.
impalabatmobile-67 asked:
hi! uh, i know this probably sounds weird, but can you make a tutorial for edible panties? i tried to make them myself but they, like, melted before i finished them, but your tutorial are always easy to follow so maybe i’ll understand what i’m missing here. i get it if they’re not your thing, don’t worry. thanks.
Edible panties. Well, that was new and he would have to do some research before giving instructions to anyone, a couple of tries maybe, but yes, it was doable. And kind of interesting, as he usually found new things to be.
Sex-aced-it answered:
It’s not “weird” at all, don’t worry. On the contrary, quite vanilla , I’d say. I will have to investigate a bit on how to make them, since it is new to me as – I suppose? - it was to you, but yes, I will make a tutorial about it.
Are you interested in underwear in general or panties specifically? And will they be for male or for female bodies? I don’t know if this will influence the product, but better safe than sorry. Were you thinking of classic candies and sweets or something else for the food? Let me know.
He checked the message again, and then sent it. He got up to make a peanut butter sandwich, taking his time to spread the butter meticulously on the bread, and took a bite while settling in front of his computer again. He refreshed the page automatically, his mind already on the essay, when he spotted a new message at the top of the page.
impalabatmobile-67 asked:
thanks man, you’re awesome. i guess underwear in general’d be fine, but my panties are for a guy. candies&sweets are good.
Before he could have done anything, another one arrived, and then another.
 impalabatmobile-67 asked:
didn’t mean mine like *mine*, only that i asked for them. and, uh, can you not show my url when you’ll do the tutorial? it’s kinda personal. i probably sound like a repressed guy but my little brother is on tumblr as well and i don’t want him to see this.
impalabatmobile-67 asked:
sorry, i’m rambling. u didn’t need to know that.
Cas sighed a little and hit the ‘reply’ button again. This guy didn’t seem a jerk, only a little… lost. His essay would have had to wait apparently some more.
Sex-aced-it answers:
Again, please don’t worry. You don’t have to justify your actions with me and I’m not going to judge you. I completely understand wanting to keep your own business private. Have you already thought about the design? I could help you with that too if you’d like.
Unsurprisingly, impalabatmobile-67 answered only a couple of minutes later. He really had a piercing imagination.
They chatted for almost an hour, exchanging ideas about the shape and the size and what kind of flavors Dean would have preferred. He seemed nice, and when they said goodbye, Cas had a little smile on his lips.
  Early October
“Do you have the munchies?,” Gabriel asked, and Cas could hear some sort of admiration in his tone.
“It’s for a project,” he answered distractedly, examining a licorice strip and carefully lowering it inside a paper bag.
His cart was full of similar bags, stuffed with candies. He wasn’t sure he could add them to the panties, actually, but Halloween was close anyway. Better safe than sorry.
“A project?,” Gabriel answered, amused. “For you porn blog?”
“It’s not a porn blog,” Cas answered automatically, passing the cart to Gabriel so he could ring everything up.
Gabriel snickered but didn’t press on. It was a familiar banter by now, nothing they couldn’t recite in their sleep.
“What is this project about anyway?,” Gabriel asked, giving Cas his change and rummaging on his desk, triumphally popping a lollipop in mouth once he found it.
“Edible panties,” Cas said, hiding a smile when Gabriel choked on his own spit. For all his flamboyant sexual life, his brother was definitely more of a prude than Cas himself was.
“You’d be such a perv, I swear,” Gabriel muttered, and Cas gave him a dirty look.
Gabriel rose his hands up in surrender. “I know, I know, you can be a perv right now, too,”
Cas just grabbed his bags and got out the shop, giving Gabriel the middle finger on his way out.
The ingredients were spread on the table, resting on a cheap table cloth.
Cas eyed them dubiously. The recipe seemed easy enough, but he wasn’t sure how resistant they could actually turn out to be. Or comfortable. Or igenic. Honestly, the idea of eating something that had rested on someone else’s crotch made him nauseous, but he guessed that once you swallowed what came out of a person’s genitals, you could brave anything.
He picked up his phone and shot Dean a message. They had abandoned the inbox a while ago and were using Tumblr’s messaging system now.
Sex-aced-it
I’m starting. I cannot guarantee a satysfing result though
Dean’s answers was almost immediate. Cas had warned him that he was going to try today, and apparently Dean was eager to know how it was going. He seemed very invested in these panties.
impalabatmobile-67
don’t worry 2 much about it man
impalabatmobile-67
i mean if they turn out a mess u can still eat them
Cas’ nose scrunched up and he looked down again at the table. The whole ensamble just didn’t look that appealing.
Sex-aced-it
If you say so
impalabatmobile-67
don’t u guys like sweet things?
Cas frowned down at the screen, leaning his hip against the table.
Sex-aced-it
What do you mean?
impalabatmobile-67
all those talks about cakes… made me wonder
It took Cas a moment to understand Dean’s allusion, and he found himself smiling when it clicked.
He could still go a little on the defensive sometimes, when the topic of his sexuality came up - and who could blame him, really? - but he found these sort of jokes funny, if a little cheesy.
impalabatmobile-67
im more a pie kind of guy myself
Sex-aced-it
Don’t you like cake at all?
impalabatmobile-67
oh I like cake alright at times ;)
Sex-aced-it
What was that wink for
impalabatmobile-67
like… cake as a metaphor for… someone ace?
impalabatmobile-67
nvm, it was dumb
Cas stared at his phone, the text clear on its white background. He admittedly wasn’t the best at social interaction, and social clues, in certain context, could be somewhat a mystery for him, but he most certainly wasn’t stupid.
Dean and him hadn’t started talking that long ago - a month at best - but Dean had been friendly and their interactions easygoing. And, sometimes, very clearly, flirty.
Not much, nothing over the top, just a joke here and a compliment there, but it was still more than Cas had done in some time, and definitely not something he usually did with his clients.
Dean seemed nice, though, and funny, and a little cute. Cas had always had a weak spot for cute boys.
But it still was only something to put a smile on his face after a tiring day - he didn’t stop to consider the implications, because he didn’t think there would have been any. Besides, an internet romance, without even knowing what Dean’s last name was, or where he lived, or what kind of skeletons he hid in his closet - Cas was brave, and he was reckless, but he had learnt self-preservation along the way. And this? This was not something he could endorse in in good conscience.
But here Dean was, with his lame lines and flustered-looking backtracking, and Cas’ walls had never been that solid to begin with, honestly.
He had started tapping an appropriate reply when a new message appeared under the last one.
impalabatmobile-67
so are u gonna try to make them??? i’m getting old here dude
And just like that, the moment was lost.
Late October
Parties at Charlie’s were always very liberal, very queer, and almost always tipsy, at the very least.
Cas, throwing back a shot of vodka, mused that Halloween was the least probable time to be an exception to the rule.
His corpet was starting to squeeze him a little too much, and his ankles ached, but there was no way in Hell he would have given up his costume now. Well, thinking about it, maybe the shoes could go, the stockings were the important part anyway…
He tried to lift his right foot and unfasten the lace of the stiletto, but the room suddenly started to shift and here he went, falling from his heels with an empty glass in his hand and oh god please let there not be any sharp edges on his way down-
Something strong and firm collided with his chest, but it was a gentle blow, and Cas found himself staring at an illustration of a yellow bat.
He looked up, questioning, and green eyes blinked down at him, surrounded by a black mask with pointed years.
Cas started giggling.
The masked man frowned and straightened him, passing an arm under his armpits to help him support his own weight.
“Are you okay?” he yelled in his ear, trying to make himself heard over the music, but Cas was laughing too hard to answer.
The man rolled his eyes - so green - and started to drag him over to the stairs that led to the upper floor. Cas weakly hit his cheek to get his attention. “Bridal style, bridal style!” he hooted when the man turned toward him, trying to throw his leg over the man’s arms and managed only to send them both staggering against a wall.
“Dude, I’m not bringing you upstairs in my arms,” the man grunted, tugging him on the first steps.
“But I’ve been saved by Batman!,” Cas protested, gripping the man’s shoulder for dear life now that they were climbing the stairs. “I demand it!”
“Jesus, you’re really in the part of Frank, aren’t you,” the man muttered, but Cas, a little dizzy, a little nauseous, could still see the amused smile on his lips.
He didn’t remember much after that.
"God,“ Cas lamented, trying to get his coffee machine to work. The smell of beans only had already cleared his head a little, but now he needed the real deal.
"Tell me about it,” Dean’s voice said, equally roughed, from Cas’s phone’s speakers.
Charlie’s Halloween party had been hard on Cas the night before, and apparently Dean had had a similar experience, if his pained tone was anything to go by.
“I was at this friend’s place,” Cas said, finally managing to turn the machine on. The scent of strong coffee rose from it, lazily diffusing in the air, and Cas had never known a sweeter blessing.
“Did you just moan?,” Dean’s voice came, a little belwidered, but Cas ignored it.
“I guess I had a little too much to drink,” he continued, pouring himself a cup of coffee and sighing in it, inhaling the fumes. “And then Batman saved me when I was about to fall on my face, and then I blacked out.” He reverently had a sip, and had to actively force himself to keep quiet, this time.
It took him a moment to realized the line was silent on the other side.
“Dean?,” he asked, catious, and Dean cleared his voice over the static.
“Were you wearing a Frank-N-Furter costume, by chance?,” he asked, voice neutral, and Cas froze.
“How do you know that?” he replied, confused and a little scared, but Dean didn’t say anything.
“Dean?,” Cas pressed, even though he should have had hung up, turned off the phone, what if Dean was a stalker, what if-
“Do you know Charlie?,” Dean finally said, and Cas’ heart almost stopped.
“How…?” he asked, and he heard Dean’s breath rushing out of him, amplified by the speakers.
“I think,” Dean said, very carefully, “that we have a common friend.”
Early November
The coffee-shop was crowded, but not unbearably so. Cas was sitting at one of the tables, near the window, nervously watching the street. Anxiety hadn’t really kicked in, but he was still a bit tense.
Rationally, he knew that this wasn’t like meeting a stranger, nor a person he wasn’t certain he could stand, but it was a big deal for him nonetheless. This was a relationship he had invested times and energy and feelings in, and if it didn’t work… He didn’t really want to think about that option.
Discovering that he and Dean lived in the same city had been kind of a shock.
Everything that Cas had been cautious of, that he had protected himself from thanks to the hypothetical distance between them, and the net’s impalpability, had suddenly came to knock at his door. Young feelings, still fragile and new, that were slowly twisting themselves inside Cas’ blood vessels and shooting right toward his heart, hidden among blood cells and oxygen.
And what was Cas supposed to do with them?
Meeting today had been a jump in the dark, that Dean had agreed to make with him. It had made the abyss a little less scary.
Still, perhaps arriving half an hour before the actual date hadn’t been the smartest idea he had ever had, since the more he waited, the more he freaked out. He sipped his water, checking his watch; he wasn’t supposed to be there for ten more minutes. He took another gulp, and then promptly choked on it when a hand clamped down on his shoulder.
He sputtered, coughing and trying to breath some air in, feeling the light weight of fingers gently rubbing his back.
“Cas? Are you okay? Come on buddy, don’t die on me now.”
Eventually managing to breathe again, he turned his head up to see Dean smiling down at him, eyes actually a bit worried, and still so, so green, and really, Cas realized, everything could be really going to be just fine.
“Assbutt” he rasped, cautiously taking a sip from his bottle and glaring at him.
Dean’s laughter was so much more breathtaking in person than on the phone.
 Mid December
“I’ve been hurt before,” Cas said, quietly, on their maybe fifth or sixth date, while they were having dinner at Cas’ place, on Cas’ comfy carpet. A sort of indoor pic-nic.
Dean watched him attentively, warm and reassuring, but Cas kept fidgeting with a loose thread on the carpet, not looking up.
“When I was young, by my own doing, trying to feel things I couldn’t feel, and later, by partners who said that they understood and that sex wasn’t a requirement when instead… it was.”
He could see Dean’s hand twitching to reach out, but they weren’t yet at a point where they could just understand what the other needed without asking, and Cas was particular about touching.
Hiding a smile, Cas brushed his fingers against Dean’s, and let him squeeze his hand in his own.
“I need you to understand, Dean,” he started, trying to make his voice firm.
No matter how happy he was with himself, how comfortable, there was always a little voice in his head that whispered to him he was being selfish, unreasonable, when he did this kind of talks. But he had built himself so much stronger than those ugly murmurs, now. Let them come. He was not afraid.
“We will never have sex. Ever. I won’t start liking it just because I’m with you, and I won’t do it just to make you happy.”
He looked at Dean, trying to see any sign of discomfort, but Dean’s face was blank. It happened sometimes, when Dean wasn’t ready to let others know what he was thinking, but it wasn’t necessary a sign of something bad.
And then Cas felt fingers drawing gentle circles inside his wrist, and relaxed a little.
“No matter how turned on you get by something, if you try to pressure me in any way… I won’t react nicely.”
Dean still didn’t say anything, and Cas smiled quietly at him, bringing Dean’s hand to his lips to kiss it lightly.
“You can get turned on, though, masturbate, whatever you need. I’m not sex repulsed, just indifferent towards it in general. Moreover, I don’t mind being in a open relationship, if that’s what you want, but we would need to establish clear rules in that case, and it’s an another whole conversation,” he added, interlacing his fingers with Dean’s. “If you want to stay with me, these are the conditions. I’m done with my speech. Now it’s your turn. Did I weird you out? I didn’t mean to.”
Dean looked at him for a couple of seconds more, and then nodded. “Alright,” he said.
“Alright?,” Cas echoed.
“Alright,” Dean said, and grinned at him with his golden, beautiful eyes, and Cas, somehow, trusted him.
Late January
“I still can’t believe I got to do this,” Dean murmured against Cas’ skin, in the quiet of Cas’ bedroom.
Cas shivered a bit at that and settled better against Dean’s chest. “Doing what?,” he asked, even though he knew exactly what Dean was referring to.
“Touching you, smelling you, hell, even seeing you.” Dean traced light circles on his covered belly with his finger, resting his chin on Castiel’s shoulder. “Are you okay with this?” he asked, loosening the hug.
Cas grabbed his arm and tightened his hold again. - I am - he answered, turning his head for a kiss.
Dean gave it to him, and Cas thought that that Heaven his mother was always talking about when he was little could be found much easier than she thought. And then distracted himself because thinking about his mother in that moment seemed really a waste of time.
When they separated, both of them smiling like the idiots they were, Cas hold out a hand and gently freed himself from the embrace.
“Wait there,” he ordered, pointing the bed. While Dean obeyed, he took an anonymous bag out of his drawer and went to the bathroom, closing the door behind him.
He wasn’t completely sure of what he was about to do, but then again, when ever had he been completely sure about anything? It didn’t matter. It was for Dean, and for himself, too, and if it didn’t work out, well, nobody would be seriously hurt. A bit embarrassed, sure, but he could live with that. Dean would have never made him feel inadequate.
He undressed, folded his clothes, and opened the bag.
He took the stockings out first, feelings their softness between his fingers. They were beautiful, white silk and lace, and he couldn’t wait to wear them.
He put them on, careful not to break the texture, and spent some moments admiring his legs. Smooth and elegant, just like he liked them.
The white panties, adorned with black lace, were next, and he shivered a little at the feeling of them on his skin. He took his time adjusting them, and when he felt like they were good, he took the neutral lipstick out of the bag and turned toward the mirror above the sink.
His lips were chapped like always, but he couldn’t do much about it. Besides, Dean had never complained.
He uncapped the lipstick, and squeezed the tiny bottle to put some on his index finger. Watching his reflection in the mirror, he applied it on his bottom lips, and then pressed his lips together to spread them on the whole mouth. He cleaned the area around it a bit and smiled at his face in the glass, satisfied.
The thing was, Cas liked to be pretty. He liked to wear things that made him feel sensual, even though he didn’t care for others’ attraction toward him. If you asked him why, he probably couldn’t have explained it, but then again, the reason behind it wasn’t that important. It was all about sensations and nerves’ reaction to stimulus or something like that.
Dean had already seen him in flimsy clothes, but it was a costume, at the time. Just a mask, not the real Castiel, just being himself, in pretty lingerie. Showing off to his boyfriend in a way he never purposely did with anyone else.
Because Cas liked to be pretty, but he didn’t really like the attention that came with it. Or the expectations.
With Dean, though? Cas knew that Dean would look straight at him, and see exactly what Cas wanted to show him.
He turned to the bag once more, biting his lips. One last thing, and then he would be ready: a pair of black high heels, sleek and shiny.
The action of putting them on went less smoothly than the others - he stumbled and nearly fell into the tub, and had to yell at Dean he was fine and not to come in - but finally, everything was in place.
Taking a deep breath and shaking his head a bit, as in to clear it, he squared his shoulder and exited the bathroom.
Dean looked up from his hands in his lap and did a double-take, freezing on the spot.
Cas waited for his eyes to roam oh his body, taking him in, searching for what he could find sexy, but they remained fixated on his face, instead, without wandering even a little bit.
Actually, Dean seemed not be breathing at all.
It would have been hilarious if Cas hadn’t been so nervous.
“Dean?” he asked, finally, uncertain.
That seemed to shake him out of his trance, and he coughed, cleared his throat, and then diverted his eyes, fixing them somewhere on the wall.
“Cas, fuck” he answered, his voice lower and rougher than usual. “This is harder than I thought.”
Yeah, that wasn’t helping his nervousness at all.
“You said you would have liked it.” Cas said, confused and a bit mortified.
Dean let out a weak laugh. “I do, Cas, and that may be our problem here.”
Cas frowned, but after a moment, it clicked. It wasn’t difficult to understand what Dean was worried about, really. Cas should have anticipated it.
He approached the bed slowly, as if not to scare Dean, and sat next to him.
“Dean,” he called gently, and Dean shot him a look, but he apparently couldn’t maintain it.
“Dean,” Cas said again, taking of of his hands in his own. “You don’t have to be ashamed of your attraction, just like I don’t have to be for the lack of mine. I wore this because I knew you would have liked them, and I also knew how you would have liked them, and done it anyway. Your erection won’t make me uncomfortable.”
Dean twitched at the word, and Cas laughed quietly against his cheek.
“Stop worrying so much,” he said, kissing the side of his mouth. “You won’t hurt me. I promise.”
“I just,” Dean said, but didn’t continue.
“You just?,” Cas repeated, nudging him, with his cold nose against Dean’s neck.
“I just don’t want to do something, without meaning to, and scare you off,” Dean finished, looking at the ground.
“Oh, Dean.” Cas grabbed Dean’s face in his hands, gently, forcing him to look at Cas in the eyes. “Let me lead, okay? I promise I won’t let anything bad happening to us.”
Dean’s eyes were still doubtful, a little afraid light shining in them, but he nodded, and Cas released him.
“I feel good like this,” he said, taking back one of Dean’s hand, putting it right on his legs, on the soft fabric of the stocking. “I wore all of this as much for you as I did for me. Will you look at me, Dean? Tell me how pretty I am?”
Dean took a deep breath. “You’re always pretty, Cas.”
Cas stand up, letting go of his hand, and moved in front of him, between his knees. He put his palm under Dean’s chin and tilted his head up gently. Dean finally, finally, met his eyes on his own.
“Tell me again, like this,” Cas ordered him softly, smiling. Dean stayed still for a moment more, and then, surrendering, he slowly, hungrily, let his sight slide all over Castiel’s body. Cas felt it like a caress all over him, tender and butterfly light.
Once Dean’s look had reached his feet - and he had gasped loudly - his eyes met Cas’ own again, and they were dark and full of heat. “You’re beautiful.” he said, voice rough and full of awe. “So fucking beautiful, Cas.”
“As you are, my love,” Cas murmured, and letting himself be laid out on the bed, admired as a work of art, he thought that, yes, no matter how much it took for him to reach this point in life, it was well worth it.
  July, years later
“Sam,” Cas groaned in his phone, blindly patting around on the bed to wake Dean up. Dean grunted and swatted his hand away, cocooning himself against Cas’ back, warm as a stove. Cas tried to roll away but Dean sneaked an arm around his middle, lightning fast.
“I hope this is important, Sam, it’s eight a.m. on a Sunday.”
“Sorry!,” Sam exclaimed, excitedly, not sounding sorry at all. “But I think I found an investor for your shop!”
Cas abruptly woke up, finally managing to disentangle himself from Dean, whose protest was apparently to slobber all over Cas’ pillow.
“What?,” he asked Sam, putting a pair of pants on and quietly exiting their bedroom.
“Yesterday I went to this corporate party,” Sam answered, talking one mile a minute, “and there was this very rich european lady who I somehow ended up talking about your project and she was really interested in it!”
“Somehow?,” Cas asked, distractly, heart pounding.
“Well I may have done some research before the party… But who cares, her name is Bela Talbot, ace as fuck, very kinky. Loves your idea. I’ll drop by later to explain everything?”
“Yeah,” Cas mumbled, still dumbfounded, and the line went dead.
He felt Dean padding into the room and then hugging him from behind.
“Everything’s alright?,” he asked, voice deep from sleep.
And Cas’ face broke into a smile, toothy and huge. “Yes. Alright.”

Valentines: Yoosung
Okay here’s the first one of the bunch (Again sorry for being late I mean I realize it’s not our fault but stiLL) ALSO, JUST AS A SIDE NOTE YOU GUYS I HAVENT PLAYED THE VALENTINES DAY AFTER ENDINGS (neither has 626 if i remember correctly) SO THEY SHOULD BE SPOILER FREE UNLESS IM PSYCHIC (404 its psycho you're psycho not psychic) ANYWAY YEAH HERE YOU ARE LOVE YOU GUYS <3 ~Admin 404
He's not the most experienced  person on the planet, both of you could agree on that.
The last time he celebrated Valentine's day was back in grade school, when you'd give everyone in your class a silly little card, and maybe even a lollipop. He has NO idea what to do now that he has a significant other? Do those little kid valentines count? Should he get you those??
He went to the smoothest person he knows to get advice! After banging on Zen's door for a few minutes, he falls backwards onto his behind in surprise at the speed the door was opened.
"WHO IS BANGING ON MY- Oh, Yoosung, hello!" Zen greeted him, calming down once he realized it was just his younger friend.
"ZEN!," he called out while jumping to his feet, "You gotta help me out!!" he grabbed onto his taller friends shoulders. Zen stared at him with wide eyes, watching as Yoosung's expression grew more and more desperate.
"Uuuh, what do you need help with, Yoosung?" he asked, trying to gently get him to let go of his shoulders.
"I have no idea what I'm supposed to do for MC for Valentine's day. I've never done this!! I don't want to mess this up! Please, you're the most romantic person I know, please say you'll help me!!!" he begged, dropping down to his knees. Tears started to form in his eyes, which alarmed Zen.
"Why are you- what- just.... just stand up, Yoosung. Don't be like that.  Get inside, I'll help you come up with some stuff. And please... please stop crying, I can't deal with that," he huffed, turning to walk back into his home. Yoosung swiftly wiped his tears and stood up, following his friend into the house and closing the front door behind him. "Sit on the couch, do you want anything to drink?" Zen offered, sighing at the dull head shake he got in response. He took a seat next to the younger man and crossed his arms, and asked, "First, let's start off easy. What were you planning on doing to MC?"
"Um..w-well... I was... I was thinking, maybe I could get MC a card? B-but a really cute one!! That says I love them! Or maybe just make them a card? I don't know!! That's why I need help!!! Please Zen!!!" the more unsure he got, the higher pitched his voice became and Zen covered his ears as a sign to tone it down.
"Well, we know that no matter what you do, MC will appreciate it, right? So don't think too hard about it. Why don't you make them a card, that way it's from the heart, and you can customize it to say whatever you want to. There, problem solved. How was that so hard for you?" he questioned as Yoosung threw his hands up into the air.
"But that's the thing!!! What do I say!!! Is a card even enough??? I don't have money to take them out on some fancy date, or buy them anything really nice and I just- I feel like a failure. What if they're disappointed? What if they leave me over this? Oh god, WHAT IF THEY LEAVE ME-" Zen has to grab his shoulders and shake him out of his rant.
"Why would MC leave you over something stupid like that? They know you're just a college kid, I highly doubt they expect anything large and spectacular. Get a hold of yourself," he tried to get his friend to cool down.
"Well.... maybe you're right. I'm just...over thinking it. I just want them to be happy!" he started, before Zen cut in.
"And they will be! Just do something from the heart and that's all that matters. That's what the day's about! So! Just think of something they like, some inside jokes of yours, things like that, and run with it!" Zen became a little disoriented at the speed that Yoosung jumped up at.
"I'VE GOT IT! Thanks Zen! Gotta go, bye!" He yelled over his shoulder. He spoke so quickly that Zen had no clue what he had even said. The kid was so ecstatic when he got to the store! Not to mention he was out of breath because he ran the whole way there. He stocked up on a bunch of groceries, glitter glue, and a very big surprise for you. He tried talking himself out of getting you the last gift, because it was a little more on the expensive side- but he couldn't bring himself to do it. The moment he saw it, he knew that he had to get it for you. He'll just have to deal with the price! But with that being said, he couldn't wait to get home and get to work!
He spent hours making the most heartfelt card he could for you! Chalk full of inside jokes, compliments, and love confessions. He drew the two of you all over the card, added so many stars, and video game references! He even made lame game-related pick up lines and added them inside the card.
A lot of time was put into choosing what he wanted to make you for dinner. He might not be the best, but he isn't terrible either! He wanted to mix your favourite dish with his own, that way it was the best of both worlds!
The next morning, he sets everything up! Paper hearts were strung up everywhere, he sets the table, prepares dinner, and (un)patiently waits for you by the door. You only get to knock on the door once before he swings it open.
"MC!!! You're here!!! Come in come in!! Happy Valentine's Day!" He says in a rush, turning a crimson colour as he kisses your cheek, closing the door behind you. "Come here, I made you something!!" He says as he shoves the homemade card into your hands, watching every little movement your face makes. When your face lights up at the lame jokes, he can feel his heart melt a little bit. Completely rejected your apology for not making him a card as well, "You didn't need to, MC! It's okay! O-oh! That's right! I have another surprise for you!" He grabbed your hand and practically dragged you into the other room. With one grand gesture, you're introduced to a large, brown teddy bear, sitting larger than the both of you.
How in the world did he get this bear into the house? It's taller than he is! Is the bear this big? Or is the ceiling just low? How did it get through the doorway?!
He stood, waiting for approval of his purchase, hoping to see your eyes sparkle in wonder, or leap into his arms out of happiness! But all you did was... laugh? Not a cute little giggle, either. A full, hearty laugh. One that made your stomach hurt, and tears form in your eyes. Did... did you not like it? He had no idea what he'd do if you didn't!
"M-MC, I'm sorry, if...if you don't like it I can take it back! I just... I thought you'd like it..." He turns bright red out of embarrassment, and looks as though he's about to burst into tears. You stop laughing almost immediately and frantically shake your head at him.
"No no, I love it! I absolutely love it, Yoosung," you say as you place your hands on your cheeks, planting a small kiss on the tip of his nose. "It's just... well... here, follow me," you lead him back to the front door. He was beyond puzzled when you let go of him and disappeared through the threshold. A moment later, you push the same exact bear in front of the door frame. "I just laughed because apparently great minds think alike. I saw it and instantly thought of you," you flashed him a bright smile while a soft flush ran across your cheeks. You held up a gift card for a premium membership to LOLOL as well. "Oh, can't forget I got this for you, too!"
The sight made his heart race! Were the two of you meant for each other? You both thought of the same thing! He threw his arms around you, hugging you as tightly as he could.
"That's amazing, MC! Wow, I.. I never expected we'd get the same thing. It's so cute!! Look at it! It's so big and fluffy! I love it!! Oh- and you too, of course, heh.." he scratched the back of his head before fighting to get the teddy bear through the front door, denying any help you offered him.
The rest of the night went so smoothly! You thoroughly enjoyed the dinner he prepared, and he enjoyed the dessert you brought for the two of you! The rest of the night was spent cuddling on the couch, laughing at old school valentine memories, lots of stolen little kisses, and using the two new bears as chairs while the two of you played some of your favourite video games until the two of you fell asleep! He honestly couldn't ask for a better first Valentine's Day, let alone a better valentine than you.

diyjoy
I just saw these for sale on Amazons new site, handmade. Beautiful scatter candles like this cast amazing shadows when lit. Make them with mason jars and glass stones from the dollar store. I found blue, green, red, gold and clear glass rocks to try out. These photograph really well, which is super important when it comes to selling online. I added essential oils to scent my bath bombs and some natural food safe dye I picked up at Whole Foods. The lavender colored bath bombs with a light purple hue are my best seller, but you can craft lots of cool combinations with this basic but versatile DIY bath bomb recipe.
8. Faux Leather Pencil Cup
transientexpression
The look of all white decor is super popular right now, so when it come to items to sell, making those that follow a trend tend to always be top sellers. So those are the announcements I think I nailed it. I might have something I’m going to paste Now I need to copy and paste some stuff on the thing so so yeah, there was we got I guess,
Bradley: Let me tease what you’re doing tomorrow or non so that you don’t have to toot your own horn. We got, we’ve been doing kind of a series in the mastermind. We’re probably going to end up launching a product around it anyways, but it’s Pay Per Click marketing for local and how to get results. We had a course that I produced about two, maybe two and a half years ago now called Local Kingpin. And it was specifically for using Google AdWords obviously, it’s now Google ads, but formerly Google AdWords for setting up lead gen assets and dry and using, you know, producing leads for local businesses, either on a client basis or even on a lead gen basis where you’re selling leads. And that worked really well. But the Google Ads dash dashboard, the whole platform has evolved a lot in the last two and a half years, considerably. And, you know, Google Ads themselves for search ads, excuse me, so search ads are rather expensive, you can still be profitable with that. There’s no question but it’s fucking expensive. So I’ve actually gotten away from using search ads and get more into using display ads and YouTube ads and remarketing obviously, and it works really well because the display ads are the display ad platform is so much better than it used to be. And you know, years ago when I had developed the local kingpin training
It was in that method that I was using display ads. Suck it, they might have worked, but it sucked setting them up because you had to go out in the order or design your own banner ads and you had designed them and all the various sizes that you wanted to display them in. So the leaderboard, and you know, this 350 by 250 rectangles, you know, all these different sizes. And so it was a pain in the ass, I would hire a graphic designer to develop a set of banner ads, and that would be one set of banner ads, and it might cost me 50 or 60 bucks. If you wanted to split test, you’d have to pay for another set of ads, right. And so it was just it was you’d have to wait for you know, several days to get them back from the designer. And it’s a real pain in the ass. And so it wasn’t very efficient. And it wasn’t very effective unless you really split test a lot and then found a winning combination of ads. But now what you can do on the Display Network when you’re setting up display ads is you actually just import photos, it photos and images and let your logo as well and
It’s a square version and rectangular version for each. And then you get to add up to five short headlines, one long headline and then up to five descriptions. So and there’s, you know, character limits for each. But then what Google does is Google will create responsive display ads out of just the images that you upload it to just regular photos will work or graphics, either one and then will automatically start rotating through your various headlines and descriptions to find out which gets the highest click through as an engagement. And then it will start to auto-optimize the campaign and start serving the ads that are the combinations that performed the best more and more often. And so it’s so much easier to set up a campaign now. And although obviously, display ads don’t convert nearly as well as like search ads do, it’s a fraction of the cost guys, and with the audience targeting that Google Display Network has now or Google has period. They have what they call in market audiences and life event audiences and you can even create custom intent audiences.
is now based on keywords which are really cool. I just started playing with that actually. And so if you go and find the you know in the in the in the in-market audience targeting settings if you can go in and find an end market audience for the businesses that you’re generating leads for then those tend to be very good and like for me for contractors typically a the average cost per click runs between anywhere between about 85 cents to $1 50. So somewhere in that range depending on what type of contractor it is that I’m generating leads for. And so that’s a fraction of the cost it just for it’s just quickly for some perspective here, for roofing leads, for example, it could in some of the areas that I do SEO work and generate leads for roofers of roofing. A click for search ads for roofing type keywords can cost 35 to $40 per click. And you know, typically an average conversion rate is somewhere anywhere between 32
40% right, so you’re talking about three clicks to get one lead at $35 per click, that’s $105 per lead. That, to me is incredibly expensive. But with those, if you can there in the market audience targeting, you can actually see that there are a roofing odd Roofing Services in the market audience, and you can use that for display ads. And maybe this says you pay $1 per click will just use a nice round number. And it might be a 10% conversion rate as opposed to 30 or even a 5% conversion rate, which means you need 20 clicks to get one lead, but 20 clicks at $1 to get one lead guy think about that as 20 bucks per lead as opposed to 100 bucks per lead when you’re using search ads. So keep that in mind and that’s for cold traffic. But also for remarketing purposes. Like honestly, if you’re not using remarketing in you’re doing Client Services, you’re nuts because it’s just an inexpensive way to get additional traffic back to
The site and even if that traffic doesn’t convert a lot, a lot of it will, but doesn’t convert into leads. It’s a great branding tool to help that business to gain brand recognition so that people will think of them and go search for their brand name when it’s time for them to need their product or service because they’re constantly reminded of that business. So, long story short,
we’re going to work we’ve been doing a series of training inside the mastermind about using Google ads for Local Lead Generation, not search ads, but display ads and YouTube ads and remarketing ads. And tomorrow Hernan being the Facebook marketing expert that he is, he’s coming into the mastermind to do a full training on how to use Facebook ads for Local Lead Generation. And then we’re actually going to probably be packaging all that up over the next 60 to 90 days at some point and then launching that as a separate product as kind of an update to local kingpin, but we’re going to rebrand it because it’s really going to be a whole new course. Did you guys lose me?
Hernan: No
Bradley: I got a frozen screen. Okay, yeah, there you go. Okay, so anyways, just kind of wanted to teach you guys a little bit on what’s going on in the mastermind tomorrow. Those of you that are the mastermind a lot there’s been a discussion thread by the way or not, did you see the discussion thread in the Facebook group, but are saying that we’re going to rope you into actually contributing more than just the mastermind because they want a full soup to nuts type train. Yeah. So yeah, well, yeah, if there’s a need for it,  you know, the mastermind has the privilege that you know, if you guys there’s a real need about, you know, a specific type of training that you guys want to go after, then we can make a series there’s no problem about that. We’re all about, you know, serving our members as much as we possibly can. So that if that, you know, we have a good response tomorrow, that’s potentially going to happen, at least initially within the mastermind, and then we’ll go from there. But yeah, my idea is to cover as much terrain as possible tomorrow specifically, and then if we need to do another iteration of the, of the training or you know, walk you guys through a couple of case studies. So for instance, I was going through one of the clients that I manage, and we, so he’s a chiropractor. He’s a local chiropractor, and he has four clinics in Dallas. And over the past, I would say over the past six months, we have spent around $160,000 in advertising, and we have generated almost 4000 confirm appointments to those four offices. Now that is rough. So he is charging $49 per appointment, right? It’s an intra massage offer. So he’s charging $49 per appointment. We’re getting him we’re getting those appointments for around 39 to $40. So he’s, you know, making money on the front end, but that’s not even the best thing. The best thing is that each customer forth to him on average $300 you know because they show up to his office and they buy a bunch of stuff and they buy additional massages and they buy so that’s
Average and that’s on the low side. So there’s, there’s effectively we have been moving the needle real hard. He’s super happy Of course because he’s growing. He’s expanding locations and whatnot, and some of the stuff that we were able to implement for him. We will be talking about tomorrow on the mastermind, so it’s going to be pretty cool. Yeah, awesome. Yeah. Alright, so the last thing we’re going to tease before we get into questions, which we were kind of just hoping that more questions would fill in this chat box anyways, uh, we’ve got video lead gen system
to Dotto really is launching next week, next Tuesday. As a matter of fact, we’re going to talk about it well, the first part of next week’s webinar, Hump Day hangouts is going to be where we’re going to, you know, kind of get into some detail about what it’s about and all that because I completely updated it so that still the old training is there, the old method, which I did for years, but over the last several months, I’ve been really redeveloping that method to make it more streamlined and efficient, something that a lot of it can be outsourced, but also just to make it to where, even if you were doing this yourself like, you know, managing the all of the video lead gen or video email campaigns on your own, I don’t recommend that. But if a lot of people still going to do it on their own anyway, it’s a lot more efficient now to where what used to take roughly 20 to 30 minutes per video email to send out. Now what will take you just two to three minutes No kidding, there’s there will be a setup period on the front end where you can’t get into the method here, there’ll be a setup period where it might take you an hour to get everything set up. But then from there for every prospect you want to mail to, it’s literally two to three minutes. And that’s it. And so it’s a hell of a lot more efficient. And I’ve tested a lot of different follow-up methods from that as well to once you are notified of engagement and I talked about all of this in the training and found several different methods that work really well to the kind of get the conversation going and stuff and so I go into great detail. It’s basically a whole new course but you’re still going to get the original version, as well as the Everything’s under
The same membership site now. So there’s the original version, which still works, but it’s a bit more time-consuming. And then there’s the newer version that can be applied to pretty much any sort of marketing service I use specifically one, were really two types of methods for monetizing it. In the examples and in the training, I talked about how to use it for monetizing lead gen assets. And then I also talked about for client services, if you’re just doing outreach for clients instead of lead generation service providers. Then, you know, there’s a method I talked about specifically optimizing GMB stuff, but it can be modified or an applied to pretty much any sort of service that you offer. So if you’re a digital marketer does Facebook ads like her non for example, you could still use the video lead gen system, you just obviously are going to talk about how you can get results with Facebook as opposed to how you can get results with Google My Business. So any of you guys one of the things that we do is we surveyed you guys on a consistent basis to find out what what-what our audience needs, and something that comes up all the time is client getting right? securing clients and that kind of stuff. And so that’s really what this was all about. It’s so that you guys can go out and least get the conversation started. It’s not sales training. I’m not real good at sales unless I got a referral, like been referral but as far as getting the conversation going for prospecting, it’s an outstanding way to do it’s very unique, you’ll get a lot of responses that way. And then it’s really going to be up to you to present your offer in such a way that you close the client, you know what I mean? Or the prospect at that point. So anyways, be on the lookout for that guys. Next week, we’re going to do like we typically have done in the past, which is a limited offer on the front end for 24 hours and then the price will go up. And that’s typically how we do that. So be on the lookout for that next week.
Okay, anything else? I think we’re good.
Alright, cool. Let’s get into questions. Alright, so with our 1989 looking chat box, which kind of cool though. Let’s get into it will start at the top
What Are Your Thoughts On Keyword Research Ninja?
KT says what are your thoughts on keyword research ninja? I have no thoughts on it whatsoever I’ve never used it I really don’t use any keyword research tools anymore other than Power Suggest Pro, Google AdWords you know, the Google Ads keyword planner for because I still do PPC stuff. And then we have our own in-house keyword research product that is like anytime you need keywords, that’s, you know, our go-to source now is MGYB? We have the keyword research done over there because it takes hours to compile a good list of keywords. Really, you can spend hours doing that and organizing the keywords into silos and you know, proper themes and that kind of stuff. And that’s what our, you know, our product on keyword research is specifically it’s you know, our assistant or employee that does all of that have access to multiple tools, SEM Rush, Power Suggest Pro, you know, all different kinds of tools that she uses to actually develop these reports and puts them into silos and all that kind of stuff. So different type of intent keywords, commercial intent, informational queries, that kind of stuff. So it just makes it super easy. So honestly, I can’t give you an opinion on any of those keyword tools because I just don’t use them. It just requires too much time in my opinion. And I’d rather outsource that or use a simple tool when I’m going to do it myself such as Power Suggest Pro. Marco or anybody else wants to comment on any of those.
Marco: I agree that that’s all I use. I use our keyword research. I mean, I taught them how to do it for a reason it’s based on the way that you do it. And the way that I do it, which is Google Trends and power suggest Pro with Google ads, right the Keyword Planner Tool, and but the basis is right there. Then we go into everything else and we drill down as much as we can get as much information as possible go to Answer the Public. We just use just a ton of different tools that we can get all of the keywords. I mean, you get thousands sometimes I see our report come back, and it’s 7, 8, 9 thousand keywords strong. And I’m thinking, this is like the best way to take down a market. Let me if you really need to start and understand your market and the words involved in your market. There’s nothing better. I mean, I don’t know I can’t speak on keyword research Ninja, it might be fabulous. But I can’t say anything other than the way that we have it set up works perfectly well for what we do. Yeah.
Bradley: Yeah. And again, it’s the amount of time that goes into that, you know, I got away from doing it myself because it just takes too much time. Especially to Oregon. Like it’s easy to spit out a bunch of keywords with a tool but to organize them in proper themes, you know, and basically silos and that kind of stuff and intent type people words like that’s yet I mean, as far as I know, that’s manual. I don’t know tools that actually do that maybe keyword research and into does that. I don’t know, I don’t even look at tools like that anymore. So, unfortunately, I can’t give you a good answer to that.
Does Using Subdomains Produce Better SEO Juice Than Using Pages For Multi-City Local Lead Gen Site?
Gordon’s up he says thank you very much again for the help you provide on hump days. You’re welcome. He says he when setting up a multi-city local lead gen site you have advised in the past few subdomains of the main domain for each city instead of using a page under the main domain. When using pages, I know that the SEO juice can be spread among all the city pages, but when using subdomains is the SEO just spread among all the subdomains to help each other one rank met each one rank better, or does each subdomain stand on its own for SEO purposes? Well, it’s a little of both Gordon because, again, a subdomain is treated as a separate entity by Google right. But there is the parent domain being the root domain. So you can the way I always looked at it was subdomains and other subdomains of the same root domain are called siblings, sibling domains, right and the parent domain being the root.
And so what happens is each one of the subdomains or sibling domains are their own standalone sites, which is good for protection purposes. And that’s what we’ve talked about. That’s the reason why I’ve always done that. Now, it’s funny because I really don’t do anything spammy anymore, at least not to the actual money sites. So I can probably get away with just doing the inner pages, but it’s still allowed. You’re still a, you know, and that it doesn’t mean that what we do right now, doesn’t couldn’t be considered spammy tomorrow, because we don’t work for Google. Right. And so even though I’ve never really had, at least for several years now, I haven’t had any issues with getting sites deindexed or penalize. I’ve always kept using subdomains specifically to minimize risk, right to reduce exposure, so to speak. Because as I’ve said before, if you put all of your location pages on the root, so their inner pages, right, and if you catch a penalty against any one of those pages, it could pull the whole site down and all of your other location pages.
Although again, as I said, the methods that we teach, haven’t knock on wood, they haven’t created any penalties that I’m aware of, for any of my own stuff, as well as any of our students, okay, that I’m aware of. And so you could probably get away with doing it on inner pages for management purposes, that would be much easier for there’s no doubt because you’d all you’d have just one site to manage. That said, though, just keep in mind that that’s putting all of your eggs in one basket. So if Google decides to take that basket, or destroy one of the eggs in that basket, it could very well hurt all the others as well. So back to the original question, a subdomain is kind of a standalone site in that if a subdomain was to catch a penalty, for some reason or another, it would only affect that subdomain, the route would be left intact would remain healthy and all of the other sibling domains or subdomains would also remain healthy, untouched, essentially, from that penalty that’s been levied against that one subdomain. So it’s isolates any potential penalty problems. However, if you were to catch a penalty against the root domain, it would automatically apply to all of the child domains or subdomains. Does that make sense? So that’s why we all I’ve done that in the past was to always protect the root against all odds, right? Protect the root. And then if I was going to do anything spammy, it would be on a subdomain level. And that was specifically for that reason.
However, what you can do is in this is something I’ve actually been testing recently, but I don’t have enough time passed to see in fact, I just talked about this on the last mastermind webinar, so 13 days ago, actually, about how to use subdomains and the root domain in conjunction to kind of power it up. And I can’t give away the the the method here because it can’t do that because it’s kind of an extension of something that we teach in our paid courses. But there is a way to still use somebody domains and use the root domain to kind of help power up the subdomains, with inner pages without doing anything that could catch it catch up a penalty to your route. But again, you know, as far as does the subdomains benefit each other, yes, it may not be quite as a quick effect or, or might not be as effective as inner pages. But here’s the thing, every one of those subdomains are still attached to the root, right. So again, the root domain being the parent domain is going to benefit now, you guys know we don’t talk. We don’t care much about metrics. We stopped caring about proprietary third-party metrics several years ago, but let’s just use one as an example because a lot of you guys will understand it this way. Let’s just use domain authority Moz’s metric and page authority is an example okay?
When you have a domain authority that sitewide including subdomains, right, so for example, if you have a domain authority of 20 five on the root, then your subdomains, when you create a new subdomain, it won’t automatically be 25. I don’t think so. But it will become it will benefit from the domain authority of the parent domain. And so what I have found over the years now that I’ve been developing these multi-location sites using subdomains is that at first, when you start developing, like, let’s say you start off with two locations, so you’ve got the root domain, and then to subdomains at, you know, each subdomain being four different location. And then you add, so you start optimizing, you know, doing what you do to get results. And then you add a third location. Well, that third location tech, you know, typically, according to my experience, will, will often start to get results faster than the first two dead, because it’s actually benefiting from some of the authority that has been accrued or you know, accumulated from the previous two subdomains and the route altogether, right. So as a whole, it’s now that that new subdomain is actually benefiting from the authority that has accrued from the previous two and the route itself if that makes sense. So then you add a fourth subdomain and you know, fourth location, and a fifth and a six. And what happens is I start to see each new location that I add, tends to respond quicker get results faster than the previous one, because it’s actually benefiting from the authority of the, you know, cluster essentially, that’s it’s the root domain, as well as its additional its other siblings. So, again, if you’re doing just inner pages, you’ll probably be going to get a faster effect from that. But I found that you know, as you continue to build out additional subdomains, they helped to, they kind of benefit or receive benefit from all of the previous subdomains as well. So they’re at their birth point, right. The moment that you create that subdomain, it really already has some inherent authority because of it being a subdomain of a root domain that has built authority or crude authority if that makes sense.
So, anyway, I can’t get into any more further of that, honestly, because I will be giving away too much. Come join the mastermind and will tell you all about it. So, Marco, do you want to comment on that at all or Hernan?
Marco: Now, just to validate a little bit what you’re talking about on domains, we see that domain subdomain. We see that when we do drive stacks, and we add additional folders and files, right? The more you add the more power that as you say, a cruise and I call it power. I don’t give a shit about domain authority or trust flow. I don’t give a crap about any of that its power. And so the more that you do have whatever it is that you’re doing inside the drive stack, the more power that you pushing through, and the more power that ends up wherever it is that you got that drives tech game. That’s why they work so well. Yeah. And so the more work that you do inside, the more keywords that you target, whether it’s keyword plus location or service, whatever it is that you’re doing.
You do more of it inside your drive stack. And before you know it, I mean, it’s just pushing tons of power wherever it is that you want to go. And we’ve seen people live from case studies that they even get an empty folder to rank before anything else rank. So it’s crazy the amount of power that you can do in this method, whether you’re doing it at the TL D and subdomain level or at the drive stack and G site level. Right?
Twitter Embed Code Not Displaying Properly In GSite
So if it says it says good day Semantic Mastery team thanks for this form to ask questions and get real answers. When optimizing the site, I framed Twitter the area stays blank with no message saying it won’t connect. Is that still okay? All right. I don’t do much Twitter stuff. But I know that if you just take a Twitter URL, tweet URL, a Twitter profile, URL, whatever and try to use an iframe create generator that it won’t show you have to go into Twitter developers and actually generate an embed code for it which you can do with like your timeline, tweets and stuff. So for example, you can take a Twitter profile and go to
The developers, I think it’s developers.twitter.com or something like that just do a Google search, you’ll see what I mean. And you can ask you, or even just go to Google and search, how do you create or embed a Twitter feed? And that’s what you would? Again, I don’t do much Twitter stuff. But if I was going to try, and I haven’t, so I haven’t tested it with G sites, guys, but you could probably it’s probably you’re using the wrong type of embed code. And that’s why it’s not displaying is what I’m saying. If you go generate the correct proper embed code from the Twitter developers site, or whatever, whatever it is, again, I don’t do much Twitter stuff, just like you can, you know, I recently I built Believe it or not, I built some PB ends recently because I was testing. I don’t use PB ends. Often guys, I very rarely use them. But I did build a few that I was testing and somebody product actually. And one of the things that they required was that you had made the site look, you know, very real. So one of the things that asked for was embedding a Twitter feed, so I had some persona profiles from some older since networks that I had built that had Twitter profiles with, you know, updates. And so I just had I had, that’s how I learned to go build this little embed code. And that’s a Twitter feed in bed, that you have to go to the developers console and sign into that account. And then you create it that way. And it gives you the specific embed code for that Twitter feed. So it’s probably that you’re using the wrong one. Now, I could be wrong guys. Because like said, I don’t do much of that stuff with Twitter at all. But I’m pretty sure if you’re trying to use just an iframe generator with a Twitter profile or something like that, it’s going to be blank, it’s going to not work.
Can You iFrame A Facebook Business Page?
Now, the next part of that question is, can you iframe in a Facebook business page? As far as I know, no, I Facebook has iframe breakers that won’t allow you to embed them anywhere using any sort of tool. If anybody has a different answer please speak up.
Hernan: I think you’re right Bradley on that on that and I haven’t personally tried to iframe Facebook but I know that you know, Facebook is kind of against that other than Facebook videos, you know that what you can allow and but you can embed that an iframe that but other than that, I wouldn’t know? Yeah.
Bradley: Yeah, I know. There are some like plugins and stuff that will allow you to embed a or you know, display a Facebook page. But it actually Yes, you have to connect it via API and all that kind of stuff like, so there are WordPress plugins that will do that. But as far as just an embed code from Facebook, I don’t think that’s possible. Once again, I don’t do much Facebook stuff. So I couldn’t tell you with all certainty, but I can I know that, like, if you try to just take a Facebook URL, and iframe it, it won’t it all, it will never display anywhere. I’ve never seen that ever work. So you have to use stuff that connects via API or authorize or what are they called Facebook apps or whatever. We actually create all that shit in order just to get even a Facebook page to show in like a widget area on a website.
Hernan: Um, so yeah, and they’re even more like they’re, they’re even more like restrictive with all of the privacy stuff that they’re going through. So that you may want to consider so.
Bradley: yeah, and then you try to iframe or when you try to embed a Facebook comments app you see what happens the previous couple on the Hangouts that and I get it I guess that’s because people can act that shit so right cool we’re going to keep moving. This chat is already thousand better than anything before devices that is cool thanks to Vaughn I’m glad you guys liked it for a bus the new battle call right revert I think that’s one of the guests says get repeatable oh that’s you that was you that’s maybe a farm setting up by a cat gotcha well mines Bradley hmm feisty forehead motherfucker in charge just in case you guys wondered what that was all about.
Do Semantic Mastery RYS Stacks Add More Value To An Existing Syndication Network & GMB Page?
Bradley: The humanoid says Marco I have an RYS Drive stack order pending and creating an RYS stack I have my syndication network complete in my see when creating a try so that I have my syndication network completed my GMB URL done. would it add more value when I have you build my RYS stacks. Thank you will thank you will
I know that was directed to Marco I’m gonna put my two cents in first before Marco answers. And if you already have your syndication network all your profile URLs to become target URLs as well. guys remember it’s just kind of about it’s just like internal linking right with your syndication network. It’s there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be powering up your tier one assets as well. So if you have all of that I would actually absolutely include those but Marco, that’s more question for you.
Marco: Yeah, I’m thinking that he wants to know if he should have the team, put them into the bill, by all means, that that’s your tier one branded, it should be included and then So when did he get the spreadsheet to hit with link building. That’s what’s going to get hit your tier one branded your GMB and everything that’s inside that drive stack. So yes, by all means, have at it, and you’re going to see some really good results. I’ve been getting a bunch of testimony.
By the way of about people having to build links to their dry stacks and then the drive stacks just going crazy. Yeah once they get some the link building done so yes have added the same thing with the ad ID page. I’ve done some testing with that and just and that’s what I loved about it. It’s one of the easiest methods because all you gotta do is go submit link building gig order to you know, I wouldn’t say to just anybody but Daddy has got it down to a science and just taking like the ad ID the iframe loop stuff that we’ve talked about and again our paid courses and almost all of them it’s available that that just works really well and again, that’s just what that magic of I frames and when you combine that with Dr. stacks or even dr stacks alone, but that’s part of it because of you know, iframe in that gets done in the site, everything else so it’s just incredibly powerful. And just hitting those that’s the beautiful thing about it guys is you know, the daddy has link building pack service which is in MYB, right? They’re still spam links, but he’s good at what he does. He’s a pro, he’s a professional, there’s no doubt and because of that, he knows how to make it really effective. And then when you use something like Google assets as the target or Amazon domain as the primary target, then it can take that kind of abuse like you can hammer away at it, and it can take it and filter it like a champ. In fact, it just kind of powers it up. Now, it’s not something that I would ever direct to the money site, but you can do you know what I mean, but you can do it two very powerful tier one assets, which is why we developed the way that we do so that’s why we don’t even use VPN, who needs a pbn? When we can use Google and Amazon assets to create the same effect and then you spam links as opposed to and I call them spam and everybody who want to do spam. But guys, I mean, that’s what link building tools do they create spam links, you can call them whatever you want. That’s really what they are. Right and so pbn links are technically spammed links to you might be buying links from you know, a domain that has good metrics, but unless it’s super well themed and all that they’re typically spam links anyways, you know what I mean? So it’s just it’s about how you use them and what you point them at. And so we recommend doing it the way that you know, at least our method we use our method for specifically for a reason. It’s efficient, and it works well. Right.
All right old school, like daddy says, will it be set up like this tomorrow? Hernan? What’s tomorrow?
Hernan: The webinar? webinar or mastermind? Yeah, now it’s gonna be on a mastermind. Yeah. It’ll be in the regular mastermind.
Bradley: Jim, think that’s when? Yeah, just the regular master the live mastermind webinar page, just like we’ve always been doing over there. I we haven’t had any problems with that over there. Now it’s in the bond site. Yeah, right. The membership site, right.
So as far as I know, we’ve never had any problems not one complaint with it over there. We had a problem with the Disqus chat app. on these pages for some reason I think it’s a Click Funnels issue like it just didn’t jive well but on the traditional mastermind webinars inside the membership site we haven’t ever had a complaint on that so if I’m wrong and you guys got some complaints about it to make them known to make them known over there in the Facebook group not here.
How Would You Strategize Sending Out An Email Campaign For Over A Year?
I blue panda whoever that is, is hey guys hope this Jeff Oh, what the hell? That’s the same as what we had before. Maybe not okay. Hey, guys hope this chat function works better than this. That piece of shit Facebook jet cheese. Yeah. Or Geez, you’re right. That was terrible. Okay, onto my question. I have a list for my niche that is big enough to send 1000 emails per day for over a year. Wow. This is simply a law of big numbers campaign for my client. These will be a one time blast. Either they respond or they don’t and the next class goes out the next day what would be the best way to approach a list of this size style of sending? I don’t know I’ve never spammed at that level before. Spam demon.
And that’s exactly what you’re doing. So the best person to answer that question is unfortunately not here. That’s Chris, our partner, Chris, he, he’s been doing that kind of work for four years. He can give you the best advice on that. But he’s not here. I’m sorry, he’s traveling. Yeah, the only thing I would know to say is that make sure that you have plenty of sending from domain email account. So in other words, making sure that you’ve got several many, many, many different email account setup, you know, that you can send from because you’re probably going to burn every single account that you send from like, almost every day.
I don’t know for sure, because it depends on how clean your list is. But typically, when you’re sending out mass emails like that, from a particular account, especially 1000 per day, you have to have accounts that have developed some sort of reputation for or else when you go to hit send on 1000 emails from an account that’s not really seasoned. It will you know, the is the internet search or email service providers will throttle those accounts and not the inbox. You know a bunch of them and also with people will start hitting the spam button which it’s likely if they were unsolicited emails, you will get a lot of people hitting the spam button, it will flag that particular domain account for or domain email excuse me for spam and so it will like they’ll just stop unboxing her nine you were going to comment? Yeah, yeah,
I agree with you. What I was about to say is that if you want to, you know, reach out to Chris just post in the Facebook group and maybe take him I don’t know if blue pen is on the mastermind group. Yeah, if you’re in the mastermind, we could get to it. You know, Chris will give you a lot of help out there. Otherwise, you could try it in the free Facebook group and I don’t know how much he’ll reveal about something like that there. But yeah, that’s the only problem like guys I talked about this a few weeks ago, but you know, I got I’ve unsubscribed from just about every single marketing list that I’m I’ve ever been on.
Over the last several months, because I decided to get really focused and you know, buying shiny objects and getting pitched new training, you know, methods and stuff like that all the time was really, and I, you know, there’s they’re kind of happens in cycles. I know a lot of you guys we’ve I’ve talked with a lot of our mastermind members over the last several months I do calls now with, you know, one on one calls with mastermind members, as a new member, you get a one on one call with one of us. And then every quarter or so I try to open up the ability to have another 30 minute call with me so I can kind of help you know, find out more about people in our mastermind and what struggles are going through and offer some guidance and and and, you know, 90 days to six months and three to six months, I have another call with them, find out if they made any progress, and they’re going to have new issues at that point. So one of the things that I’ve heard a lot through those calls without calling anybody out is that, you know, constantly being bombarded with different opportunities. And that’s because we’re all marketers, right? And so we’ve gone out and been signed up for whatever ours, which puts us on email list or we bought products, which puts us on email lists. And the next thing you know, we get hammered and you guys can all relate I’m sure you get hammered and hammered and hammered all the time with solicitation offers for training or for software or tools or services and all that kind of stuff. And you know,
I found that although they may be interesting and sometimes entertaining to go like watch webinars or to go check out the new sales page of the new tool that or software or WordPress plugin or whatever the hell it is, that typically just distracts from making any progress a real progress in my business and you know, over the years I’ve gone up and down with that, you know, sometimes a more susceptible to that other times I’m not but over the last many months now I really just started to unsubscribe from you know, ton of people’s emails. The reason I started saying that was because my oldest email account that is the account that I use, it’s a Yahoo account, Yahoo mail account, that’s the one that I used to always sign up for stuff like I don’t use my main Gmail accounts for for to sign up for lists or two webinars and things like that, because I knew that I get on a spam list, right and people would start spamming me. I’m still getting a ton of spam over there. But I’ve never voluntarily or I very, very rarely voluntarily used one of those primary Gmail type email addresses for signing up for that stuff. But I had a Yahoo mail account that was just getting spammed to death. And so over the last several months, I have really, really gotten a much better handle on that too. Because what I’ve done is I’ve gone every time I get an email now I just daily maintenance Now, every single day, I go through my Yahoo account probably two maybe three times a day. And if there’s an email that came is comes to me that I was unsolicited, which is you know, it’s they don’t come nearly as often as they used to now, I open up the email, I scroll right to the bottom finance subscribe button, I click it and make sure you know in the page reloads that it’s that in the net new tab that I’ve unsubscribed. Then I close that tab and I go back in and I click the spam button and Yahoo
And I do that every single day. And, you know, I used to get literally dozens, sometimes hundreds of emails per day, as many of you guys can probably relate. And now I swear to God, this is no bullshit over the last, probably five to six weeks now, I might get two or three emails per day and some days I don’t get any spam or unsolicited emails anymore. And that’s because I’ve gotten into the habit of doing that. So now it’s much more manageable like that, that email counts almost like a clean account. Now I do still get occasional as I said, Sometimes I’ll get one. Sometimes I get two or even three spam emails where it’s another internet marketer that bought my name off the list somewhere and sends me some bullshit email about the newest WordPress plugin. But I open up the email, I go straight to the unsubscribe button, unsubscribe and then come back and hit the spam button. And so it’s really really reduced that now the reason I said that was because if you start emailing people with unsolicited emails, you’re likely going to have many of them going to hit that spam button and that’s going to tank your deliverability, just like that. So if you’re going to be doing that sort of a strategy, you’re going to need a ton of email accounts ready, essentially one per day and even that, I don’t know that I’d send 1000 per day from one account. I probably split that up across multiple accounts. Okay.
Can You Still A GSite And Empower A Client’s Money Site If You Don’t Have Access To Their Email Account?
Anyways, it says when working with clients and you don’t have access to their email account, can you create a G site for them embed their properties and deliver the power to the money site URL? Well, yeah, I would never ask for access to my clients Google accounts ever never do I asked for that. So that’s how we do it right? We create and fits if it’s the same fits as I know that we used to be in our mastermind you should know that. And it might not be but ya know, like, for example, we just we create for clients created or even if for you guys that buy stuff from us, we’re going to go create a Google account.
To create your assets, the same thing with my clients, I go create a Google account, right or if they’re on G sweet, which some of them are, but most of them aren’t, then I have them add, you know, create an email or user account for me. And then I will end up, you know, giving me they, and then I asked them to give me permissions for to access the other accounts, like our Google Apps essentially within that account, right? That makes sense. And guys, you know, send a screencast video tutorial video to your users. So for example, I don’t ever ask for Google account access, but I do ask for to be added as a Google My Business Manager to their GMB for example. Right. So how do you do that? Well, unless you ask for their login details and go do it set, you know, add yourself as a manager, you know, add yourself as a manager, you got to ask them to do it. So if they don’t know how to do it, you got to provide them with instructions. The easiest way to do that, in my opinion, is to just do a quick tutorial video and show them hey, show him another GMB account. say look, login go to business google. com
Left-hand sidebar, you’re going to go click users, this little box is going to show you’re going to see a little plus icon at the top, click that to add new user at my email address from the drop-down, select, you know, manager, not site or not owner, just add me as a manager and then click you know, invite or send or whatever the button says, and I’ll get an invitation and then I’ll go be able to access you can do the same thing, if they have, you know, if you wanted it to be hosted on their main Google account, like a G site, which is unnecessary. But if you wanted to, you could give them instructions on a go into sites, google.com and add me as a user or manager, whatever, give me permission to be able to access that app within your Google account. However, it doesn’t matter because you can create the new account, build everything under the new account and then add your client Gmail account as a manager and then transfer ownership if you needed to. But again, it’s really unnecessary. It doesn’t matter who the Google account is. You can push the power the SEO juice anywhere you want. Okay.
Facebook Embed Post
Facebook also gives you an embed code for each post. Really? Yeah, it does. You so you can embed a Facebook post? Yes, that is correct. When did that start? Yeah,
it’s always been there. Yeah, it’s been rough. But Jay get. So if you get if you create, like, for instance, if you create, I don’t know, post with a link or a post with an image bubble, blah, then you can embed that somewhere. So it has to, it has to be on in your timeline. Or it has to be like, like on an open page. It can be like, if it’s a closed group, you can’t do anything with it. If if it’s a member, whatever it if it’s hidden or secret or Harvard. I don’t know too much about Facebook. I’m just there answering questions. Yeah, but if it’s open, right, and if it’s public, yes, Google will not Google Facebook will give you an embed code for that post or for whatever it
Is that you’re doing an image or video. But in those at one post though, right, correct, I don’t I think that you’re right that there’s an X breaker if you try to embed the like the entire face. Yeah. Yeah. And it has to come from a, from a Facebook page, if that makes sense. Not from a profile. You know, even if the profile is public, there’s a lot of, you know, stuff going on with privacy and whatnot. So it needs to come from a Facebook page, which is what your clients are going to be using anyway. Right. So um, so yeah, but that’s, that’s another caveat that you want to have in mind. Yeah, well, I mean, okay, so that may mean that that’s cool. And all but you know, unless you’re going to go in and update the iframe, or the embed code on a regular basis on your sites. I don’t see how I mean, obviously, if you’ve got I guess one post that you specifically trying to power up then yeah, and you could embed it and then hammer and you know, the G site or wherever you’ve got an embedded with links or something like that, but you know, typically I like to set up the iframe that is going to update dynamically. So I publish content and it’s on an automatically be in the iframe that I’m trying to power up. Do you know what I mean? So that’s cool. I didn’t, I wasn’t aware that you could embed individual posts, but say, that’s cool. I just learned something. Yep. Very cool. Yep.
Is It Better To Create Different Page For Each Keyword Or Use A Single Location To Rank Different Keywords
Okay, so Gordon’s up again, it says, Thanks a lot for your previous answer. You’re welcome. He says, which brought up this question and used to be okay to use duplicate content for different sites targeting and local niche in different cities, just changing the location info one site for each city. But is that still true? I’ve never done that. Gordon. Honestly, I’ve always advocated for using unique content for all those and that’s specifically because, at some point, it could be, you know, toxic, it could you could end up catching a penalty because it is all duplicate content and duplicate content, guys, it’s supposed to be on the same domain, I get that, but on the same subdomains, you know, I don’t I don’t like that because it’s not as effective.
So what I’ve always always always suggested Yes, it has worked, you can just swap out location information. So like essentially the city modifier within the content. But it’s inexpensive to have a piece of content written and then have it rewritten, it’s a lot less expensive to have it rewritten than to have original content written for each, which by the way, when you go to a content farm, none of its original, all they’re doing is rewriting other content that they’ve scraped from the web, just so you’re aware of that, guys, when you go buy an article from a content farm. It is a rewritten article from something else on the web that they scraped, that’s it, there’s nobody there is actually writing an original article. all they’re doing is going easy and articles or somewhere else scraping an article and then rewriting it and usually it’s rewritten very poorly, by the way, but what I’m saying is you can go out and order an article, habit, you know, Britain for whatever, let’s say it’s 1000 word article, and it cost you 40 bucks. And then you have article rewrites. So let’s say you got six locations six subdomains where you got the URL
So that you paid 40 bucks for that, but then you order five rewrites, it might cost you $8 per rewrite. And now you’ve got six, original, unique, let’s just I’m using air quotes, but six or unique articles that are going to be more effective, in my opinion, long term, then having the same piece of content used across multiple sites where the only thing you change this is the location modifier. So that’s how I’ve done that, guys. I’ve got lead gen assets out there with subdomains with 20 subdomains, and they each have their own unique content. You know, and that’s specifically for that reason.
You know, again, it’s your call, I’ve always wanted to build long term assets that will rank and produce revenue for me for years, and I’ve got many of them. And so, you know, again, it’s all I always think about, it might be a little bit more expensive, a little bit more hassle on the front end. But what’s more of a hassle having assets that stopped producing or start performing poorly, because of you took shortcut cuts on the front end. You know if they’re producing revenue for you and again guys I don’t know if it works or not because I just don’t do it. I don’t know if it still works or not but other people may be able to comment and say oh it works fine that’s fine if you want to build your business that way do it you know, there’s it’s up to you. So I don’t recommend it though. Honestly, I try to do the work up front so that it will produce for me for the long term and I don’t have to continually worry about that shit.
Do you remember that when they first came out with pandas and penguins? What that what Google was asking for rich unique relevant content that’s updated on a regular basis how often they repeated that that was when the doofus what’s his name was still with with with the spam team gotten Matt Cutts right. When that was so that this is they kept asking them they didn’t they keep doing it over and over fresh, unique relevant content updated on a regular basis. But the telling you that for a reason the bot feeds of content
Now I know that people have done tests when and where, you know, they’ve used Latin. And it ranked, but there were still keywords interspersed with that Latin garbage that made it rank and that’s what the bite is feeding off. It’s feeding off that information that you’re giving it. And if you just keep pushing the same information over and over, we have seen this, again, we always test guys is why we can give you the answers to these questions. We’ve seen it time and again and local GMB Pro, that if you use different posts, that if you do it regularly, whatever regularly means for your niche because niches a different each unique niche will react differently to the post frequency. But we know that if you use fresh, unique, relevant content, update on a regular basis, fresh images or you make Google think that they’re fresh images
Marco: don’t even have to be, it’s just all about feeding them but the information that the bot is coded to look for. It’s looking for these variables, right the keyword in the right places, and in the right amount and then information. And, and it’s also looking at how a real person interacts with that content that you’re displaying. And whether that person finishes, whatever action they set out to do. All of this is part of it. Now, if you give people the same information over and over and over again until you change this is a little bit eventually that gets stale, and the bodies will be able to tell how people react to that. And the one thing you’d never want to do is you never want to send us a negative signal. We always concentrate on feeding them but the positive signals that’s going to get us positive actions and reactions going to get us better placement.
going to give us knowledge panel displays is going to get us calls. And it’s going to get us web site visits, and whatever else, right, whatever else that we’re looking for. But it all starts with your content. And yes, you can feed garbage. But eventually, what will happen is it’ll get the index just like it happened with that test website that was done. But that one was just to show what you could do with the content place in in in the right areas. And in the right amount. Guys, don’t trick yourself into thinking I’m going to take the easy way out and just change the location. Give people a reason to think about it. Think like the end user, right? If I’m going in there, and I’m looking to have my problem solved, and I keep seeing the same garbage over and over. I don’t want to deal with that. I want someone that that’s talking to me as the end user, and someone who’s going to help me solve my problem, become problem solvers and you’re going to go a long way towards really developing your content in a way that people are really going to enjoy interacting with, and in the long run is going to make your whole lot more money than taking shortcuts. Yeah.
Bradley: All right. We’re going to wrap it up here in a minute. But if it says mastermind calls from Bradley are awesome, relevant, timely, and actionable period. Thanks fits. Appreciate that. Yeah, I’ve enjoyed those calls. I had a couple of this week already. So again, I appreciate that. And then lastly, Gordon had posted one more question. That’s fine, Gordon, we appreciate that. He says, since relied on questions, I’ll ask something else. And this is a good question.
Is It Better To Create Different Page For Each Keyword Or Use A Single Location To Rank Different Keywords?
He says when creating local Legion pages, is it better or easier to create a different page for each keyword or to try to rank a single location page for a bunch of different keywords? Yeah, so that’s a great question. Because several years ago, that was the method was to it was and that was the industry, right? The traditional knowledge, right was to go out and create. Each page would be optimized for a singular keyword. Right. That was really how silo structure was started.
be taught was, you go out and you create a silo and then you collect the supporting keywords for that silo and then you start creating posts within the silo that each post is optimized for one keyword. And that can still be applied today. But the thing is, though, you’re better off. So let me back up for a minute like with a complex silo, guys, there are categories and subcategories, right? And so what I’m saying is it used to be it was taught for a while the best practices was was to create your top-level keyword would be the top-level page, your top level category. And then for your next tier down of keywords, right, you’re supporting keywords, you would create a subcategory for each of those keywords. Right, so that’s a child page. And then at your post level, you would go out and take longer tail versions of your second tier keywords and you would create individual posts for each one of those that would link up to your sub-category pages, right. And so that was very granular It was like Uber optimized content. But after panda three or four I don’t even remember which one it was but it was sometime around 2014 timeframe we started noticing that that was less effective and now and that’s because guys the algorithm has gotten so much better and understanding natural language right it with AI and rank brain and all of that it understands content and its totality now a lot better than it used to, right it’s Google’s gotten incredibly advanced in that respect. And so now you can actually have longer form content that targets many semantically related keywords that’s the key right? So instead of going out and creating multiple pages, which is kind of a bitch anyway, and it’s it’s really makes as Marco was just talking about, it makes for a shitty user experience to if you go to a site and you have to click to another page to learn more about a very similar keyword anyways or product or service. So it just becomes repetition over and over and over again. And that’s less effective. So you’re better off creating a long-form piece of content, as it as a page that has a lot of your relevant similarly related keywords within that page, you can even have somewhat broader topics combined on the same page. So provided that they’re segregated by correct segments, or headings, and other words, sections within the page. So you know, and I’ve experimented with even ranking one page websites guys for, you know, multiple types of keywords like that wouldn’t even be in the same silo. But because of the way that you organize the content on the page, you can still rank for that. Here’s another example, using like Table of Contents or navigation links with hot links that go to those sections on the page. So that’s a good way to kind of set to analyze the content within a page to where you can only you can have one page that can rank for multiple keywords or themes that make sense. So to answer your question.
I wouldn’t go with optimizing for singular keywords. No, don’t get me wrong if you’re if you’re doing short blog posts, for example, I target, you know, with GMB posts a lot singular keywords, I mean, we still I still sprinkling variations of that single keyword, but there’s one primary keyword typically for me, for GMB posts. So you can still do that. But for your pages on your site, right, I’m talking about posts doing that. But for your pages on your site, which are typically what you’re trying to rank, you’re using posts to support the page, right? So for pages, I would recommend going with longer form content instead. That’s why I don’t usually recommend using complex silos anymore because you can accomplish it with simple silos, which is just categories and page, top-level categories and pages and then post supporting posts. Because complex structures are exactly what their name implies. They’re complex. They’re hard to manage. It’s hard to map out in the beginning, and it’s, it’s honestly, I think it’s overkill for most stuff, especially for local it’s overkill for most local things. All right.
Okay five o'clock I’ve got to go but I am going to read this comment real quick Jim says FYI everyone I placed an order for keyword research it was actually too good with too many keywords but they do break it down and suggest which keywords you should target which ones are good for silo and for supporting keywords. Don’t hesitate to order you won’t regret the quality time saved that it takes the guesswork out of it. shipped Marco trains them. Hello. Thanks, Jim. Jim. So, Alright guys, everybody. We appreciate you being here. I’m kind of digging this app even though it looks old school. It’s kind of cool. what you guys think. I like it. I mean, it works. Yeah. Works. Nobody’s complaining about getting locked out of any account so far. So we’ll see. All right, everybody. We’ll see you guys tomorrow on the mastermind and everyone else next week. Thanks for being here, man. Later see

Later see
