Please acknowledge Bleakwatch Chronicles, Tinker Bell and the Lost City. I understand that BW chronicles may not have as much fans and are turned off by the art style. Also the author never posted (Zack Loran Clark) much promo for the book unlike Allison, nor mentioned anything about DF on his IG page. It is intended for a younger audience. However, I am much more excited for this book as it pertains to the movie universe. So please, just clap if you believe if you will.
As this is the first book to come out since 2017 that is labeled as "Disney Fairies" and the second spinoff- like this is important. You don't have to buy the book or give it the free promotion, but acknowledge the existence of it at least. WoS is not labeled as DF, if it matters.
Here are some of the reasons why I am more excited for Bleakwatch Chronicles than I am for Wings of Starlight by Allison Saft (Clarion x Milori YA Novel):
It's a post canon story implied to take reference to the cancelled Tinker Academy movie where TB goes to study at the Tinker Academy on the mainland. The art seems like they took references especially when directly compared to the concept art. WoS is a backstory.
It releases first, BWC releases in November 2024 and WoS releases in Feb.
It seems like more of original concept to me, literally because of the new concepts like the Flutterpunks and the implied secret cities of the Bleakwatch and Clockwork Capital.
New characters like Quin and Ozwald will be joining TB on this journey.
It expands on a old concept, and tweaks it in a way that makes more sense. IMO, an idea like a Tinker Academy seems to hold less weight because before the events of Tinker Bell fairies couldn't go to the mainland to spread nature, and it's implied they always stay. It is also implied in GFR that Tinker fairies don't typically go to the mainland even if TB's inventions help them in the intensive summer season (the song implies that's why she's there- it's implied in the first movie she goes there whenever she has a job) Vidia is dismayed by this and says "this is why Tinker fairies don't go to the mainland" whilst TB is checking out the car. In a deleted storyboard for Tinker Academy it is implied that it is a prestigious academy that FM gets into before the events of Tinker Bell, yet to me the idea of underground London tinkers makes more sense to me than the academy. Think about it, it's implied that TB and FM are some of the most brilliant Tinkers in pixie hollow and yet the Tinker population is small. (only Clank and Bobble greet her and we see no one in green outfits) Why do you think that is? I personally like the idea of rogue Tinkers who would scavenge on the mainland for parts and self-exile themselves from Pixie Hollow. It explains why FM calls the lost things junk, if the difference in mindset between the mainland tinkers and the pixie hollow tinkers was that the mainland Tinkers are considered "scraps" (get it) while the PH tinkers are considered more put together and community driven. It makes sense that TB being a brilliant Tinker that outshines even Vidia gets such an audience if brilliant Tinkers do not normally last in PH because they are seen as too curious and ambitious, opting to start their own community of outcast Tinkers in the mainland. Vidia's talent switch in The Pirate Fairy also implies that Tinkers have the gift of thought, and literally think differently (regardless of personality) then their non-tinker peers because it's their talent. There is much potential for this storyline as it adds more nuance to the Tinker Bell movie and the dynamic between the nature and non nature talents, something I think it would benefit from. It makes a lot of sense if the edgier steampunk designs came from a secret Tinker counterculture and not a secret academy imo.
The implication of this book suggest revitalizing the Disney Fairies franchise, possibly not just as a "brand". Not sure what that could mean but it's interesting
IMO, Wings of Starlight has more of a "booktok" vibe I'm getting from it. I'm not just saying that because it's YA, but given the (beautiful) cover design it feels more targeted for what Disney thinks grown fans of Disney Fairies might like based on whatever market research was done (and you know it was). WoS has been receiving better marketing and there are people out here that don't even know two books exist. I'm not saying the book looks lazy, slapped together, or unoriginal- or it will just be corporate and bland, I mean I'm a Disney Fairies fan I don't believe that everything is corporate greed lol and like to see creativity in the "unexpected". But I hope that future Disney Fairies books won't just be going for what is "trendy" to reel people in and instead invest in creative storytelling *in general*, in other words I hope they keep concepts and genres broad and inclusive enough so we have the potential for more creative stories. Not just expanded stories on specific characters and stories like the Twisted Tales series, or sticking to specific genres for this specific niche audience in a way that feels too specific. I feel like there has to be some sort of balance struck, or DF may be a little stuck for a while and may still have "missed potential".
On expanded stories, like I said, Disney has done a lot of that and there is an audience for that. However, I prefer the idea of post canon more than a backstory or expansion. From what I know, we know some details of the Milarion backstory and it will be adding more layers and expanding on the dynamics of the existing characters, where the new book seems to be more lore driven in focus.
I don't like Secret of the Wings that much in terms of lore as a lore fanatic. I feel like this book could also retcon other things when possibly trying to explain things that make sense in SOTW. If BWC is good, I can imagine myself thinking about it more after it releases but I can just imagine myself thinking more of how I felt and my emotional reaction after WoS with fading interest afterward, it just sort of feels like the book could resonate with me more y'know? and I got a pretty good gut feeling for that sort of thing.
Underdog bias, just acknowledge it's existence. Do that with the NG graphic novels from 2022, heck the whole Never Girls series. Do that with the whole DF franchise if you are new here somehow. That's it, that's the post.
The mystery. What is the mysterious pocketwatch and who's on the cover?
Copy and pasted plot summary- Tinker Bell loves nothing more than solving a problem. For her, red buttons demand to be pushed, treasure maps need to be followed, and lost things ought to be found. So when a strange fairy crash lands in Pixie Hollow and leaves Tinker Bell two clues to find a mysterious necklace on the Mainland, she really doesn’t have a choice but to help. However, her journey takes an unexpected turn when she discovers a hidden city of fairies living below the streets of London.
In this city called Bleakwatch, she’ll meet the Flutterpunks, the most infamous band of trinket scavengers around. Helping her may just give them their biggest score yet. But when the Flutterpunks’ plan goes haywire, they’ll be forced to choose between a big payday or saving their new friend.
When their adventure takes them inside the glittering Clockwork Capital, Tinker Bell and the Flutterpunks will uncover a villainous secret that threatens all the fairies in Bleakwatch. It turns out there’s more at stake than just finding a missing necklace, and it’ll be up to Tinker Bell to set things right. Luckily, that’s what tinker fairies do best!

~The Greatest Never Of All Time (Part 1)~
SGE <Movie Edition> fanfiction. Lady Lesso x Fem reader.
A/N: Hi! I’m back again (I guess). And we have a lot of fanfics to make so hello Tumblr world AGAIN!
Warnings: Angst
Tumblr media
“Rumors are true Y/n!” Said by Anemone who’s speaking and following me non-stop for the so called ‘news’ she have. I’m honestly getting irritated by this.
I halt my tracks then faced her with my most fake smile I could ever conjure. “Oh! Anemone, My sweet Ever friend... could you just... SHUT UP!” I yelled at her face and by that I successfully shut her up. I turn around and continue to go wherever I’m going. When I hear her steps following me again, I faced her again and point my index finger at her with an obvious angry expression and a deathly glare. She put her hands up then stop.
Tsk, so called rumor, and so what if they have broken up already? I don’t care. I am a Never. And Nevers don’t get their happy endings, nor their love. Lesso and Dovey, Dovey and Lesso, always them.
Lesso is my friend, tho she never want to admit it. We have been friends the first time she got here. I helped her with Rafal and also helped her became a Dean. I became the greatest Never of all time, Rafal could’ve chosen me but he knows and I know that however bad and evil I become, there is still love left in me. A love that I give only for Leonora. I stopped following my nemesis and stayed here on this school because Lesso chose to stay here. Like I said it’s hard for her to admit that I am her friend, that’s why it’s a surprise to me when she informed me about her love to the Dean of Good.
Have I not given everything to her? Is my love not enough for her? Well now look at who’s broken hearted? And how dare that Dean of Good break my Lesso’s heart. Days came by after her confession, I avoided her like a plague but I gave in. Who am I to stop her from loving the person she loves? Besides I never confessed to her my love so avoiding her would be unfair for her. Months into their secret, forbidden relationship, I became their wall and rug who hides them, find an excuse for their rendezvous and clean up the messes they made when they would almost be caught. I don’t care about the princess but I did it for Lesso’s good. All of it for her. And now they have broken up, I don’t what will happen.
I arrived at my room and open it. I would expect Lesso to be inside, ready to complain, or cry for her now ex but all I can see is an empty room. I breathe in the cool air from the opened window of the balcony and heaved a sigh. I removed my glasses and black blazer then snap my finger to make a coffee. Once I feel contented, I move to the balcony and gaze at the beautiful horizon our world can offer. Our side of the castle is darker and more gloomy than the Evers, but I would never trade the view. This view just match my mood and I feel better because of it. It’s a constant reminder that I am a Never who will never get to have anything good for I am destined to kill someone and succeed. A destiny that I left behind for A woman who will never be mine.
Halfway through my coffee a dove flew by fastly into my view and a few more seconds it came back again. It is now infront of me so I extend my hands and index finger for it to land if it wants to. It did and I brought it’s head to my forehead and can’t help but smile once we made a contact. Few more seconds it fly out of my hands and inside my room and it transform to a certain dean.
“What the F-”
“Oh please, watch your language dark princess.” I bring my cup into my mouth to drink the coffee that I had made.
“What- how did you know? Why are you here Clarissa?” I said after I closed the big ass windows of my balcony to try and hide her from any potential beings who might see her visit a Never.
“How... I read the restricted area of the library and why... Is because I wanna ask if you know where Lesso is?” My jaw dropped at her first statement but my expression suddenly changes when the second question came out of her mouth. My eyes rolled at her and passed by at her to change my clothes.
“I don’t know where she is, and don’t you dare ask me that question when you are the reason why she’s missing right now.” I said with bitterness. She just look at me with eyebrows up in the air.
“What now Prof Dovey? You broke our promise. You know I like- love her and yet you have the audacity to appear in my sight after you broke her heart? How dare you? The feeling of... I could’ve done so much more, I could’ve love her better, and yet she was just broken by some Head of Good. I’m so infuriated that I could kill you right now Clarissa so choose your next words wisely.” My eyes are red due to tears that are ready to fall and my voice are low but laced with venom and hatred over the princess in front of me.
She just sits on my bed without any fear on her face. “You could kill me, that’s true. The greatest Never of all Time. I know why Rafal chose Lesso a long time ago. He wanted to beat you, so he chose someone else. You could have killed Princess Uma and succeed but you chose to stay here. I bet you haven’t read one of The Narrator’s on-going story haven’t you?” She asks me with a knowing tone.
“Of course not, you crazy Ever. It was in the tower of the Headmaster. How did you even get there?” I’m astonished right now over this Fairy’s actions and revelations.
“It said there the reason. Other powerful being people may not be able to read your mind but the Narrator always know. Leonora stayed because she knew your capabilities and she knew that if you both did what you both are destined to do, then she might not be able to see you again.”
A moment of silence has passed between us and I was stunned. There’s no way Leonora was thinking of me, there is no way she could exchange Rafal’s wishes for me.
“I’m afraid that’s not possible Clarissa. Rafal is her first love and she would do anything for him.”
“I think you should really talk to her. Such a great, amazing, and incredible Never and yet you are dumb when it comes to love.” I look at her, she is already on my door looking at me with a smile but shaking her head.
“I don’t think I appreciate that compliment.” She just giggle and looked over my shoulder then nod. My brows cocked over her actions but I suddenly felt chill when I heard a voice.
“I got it from here Clarissa.” The only voice that can weaken my knees and sent chills over my entire body. The door closed and I feel a pair of hands wrap around my waist.
“He was never my love, nor Dovey. Only you occupied my heart darling.” She whispered over ear and red covered my entire face.

Understanding African American and non-African American eGFR laboratory results
Understanding why eGFR laboratory reports include African American and non-African American results
Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the best way to measure how well your kidneys are working, but this test is complicated and cannot be easily done in a doctor’s office. To get around this, laboratories use mathematical equations to estimate the glomerular filtration rate instead of measuring it. This is why laboratories report estimated GFR or eGFR.
Two commonly used estimating equations for eGFR are the CKD MDRD (Modification of Diet in Renal Disease) and the CKD EPI (Chronic Kidney Disease Epidemiology Collaboration) equations. Using these math equations, eGFR is calculated from the amount of creatinine in the blood.
Creatinine is a waste product that comes from the normal wear and tear on your body’s muscles and also from the foods you eat. Everyone has creatinine in their bloodstream. However, creatinine levels can differ between people. This reason for this difference may not only be related to kidney disease – it may be affected by several other factors, such as age, sex, and body weight.
Race was originally included in eGFR calculations because clinical trials demonstrated that people who self-identify as Black/African American can have, on average, higher levels of creatinine in their blood. It was thought the reason why was due to differences in muscle mass, diet, and the way the kidneys eliminate creatinine. Since a patient’s race is not always used when laboratory tests are ordered, laboratories used different eGFR calculations for African American and non-African American and included both numbers in their lab results.
The use of race in calculating eGFR has been a subject of debate. Race is not a biological concept, but a social construct. Using race as a factor for calculating eGFR does not account for the diversity within communities of color. Also, people who self-identify as multiracial might not want to be put in a single racial bucket.
What is the NKF doing to address concerns about using race in measuring eGFR?
In 2020, the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) and the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) formed a joint task force to review the use of race in eGFR calculations. On September 23, 2021, the Task Force announced a new race-free calculation for estimating eGFR. The National Kidney Foundation is working with the nation’s laboratories to get this new calculation into use as quickly as possible.  The NKF is also creating materials to show how this new equation may impact patient care.
How is eGFR used?
Estimated GFR is one of the key tests for diagnosing kidney disease. The earlier kidney disease is detected, the better the chance of managing it or keeping your condition from getting worse. Your eGFR informs healthcare professionals about your kidney function and helps them to recommend the best treatments for you. For instance, eGFR results are used in the following ways:
Confirming that kidney function is normal for a potential living kidney donor
Making sure the right dose of medicine is used
Enrollment in clinical trials that use kidney function as an inclusion or exclusion criterion
Making sure the right type of imaging tests and dyes are used
When to refer someone to a nephrologist or kidney doctor
If and when to plan for dialysis
When to start an evaluation for a kidney transplant
Although the NKF alone cannot solve all inequalities, the NKF is working to help identify, confront and reverse them. NKF advocates for making affordable healthcare more available and making sure that communities of color are not left behind. NKF’s CARES helpline is available to all people with kidney disease. NKF’s educational offerings include the impact of kidney disease on diverse communities, and the reasons why communities of color have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19. NKF is committed to continuing its work to address inequalities in kidney health.

~Yin-yang Princess~
SGE <Movie version> short Imagine (Lady Lesso x Fem Reader)
Dovey: Welcome Students! I am Professor Dovey, the Dean of the school for Good.
Lesso: And I am Lady Lesso, the Dean of the school for Evil.
Y/n: I am Ms. L/n, the Headmistress of the School for Good and Evil.
Lesso and Dovey abruptly looks at Y/n’s direction behind them and there she was. Head held up high and posture straight. She is wearing an elegant jet-black ballgown. She is as beautiful as ever yet her confidence and cockiness radiates the whole room. Everyone who doesn’t know her would really mistake her as a Headmistress.
Rhian: Oh good heavens Y/n, What in the actual god are you doing?
Y/n: Just practicing, I mean as your daughter whose age seems fit to be a headmistress, should start rehearsing.
Dovey shakes her head out of embarrassment, while Lesso is grinning mischievously taking pride of whatever her girlfriend is doing.
Rhian: You are a princess of this school, but that doesn’t mean you have to act like this. Go and be a proper teacher and role model now.
Y/n just snickered and moved to stand between Lesso and Dovey. The headmaster is now giving his speech.
Dovey: Ugh, you really are the legendary Yin-yang Princess.
Lesso: And you really are my girl, princess.

New Kidney Function Equation Works Independent of Sex and Race
Tumblr media
MedicalResearch.com Interview with:
Tumblr media
Prof. dr. Pottel Prof. dr. Hans Pottel KU Leuven Kulak Department of Public Health and Primary Care Belgium MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? Response:  The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is used to diagnose patients with chronic kidney disease and is also used to adjust the dose of drugs that are eliminated by the kidneys. An accurate estimation of GFR is considered of importance in the management of kidney health in patients. In 2021 we published a new serum creatinine based equation, called the European Kidney Function Consortium (EKFC) equation (Pottel H. et al, Development and Validation of a Modified Full Age Spectrum Creatinine-Based Equation to Estimate Glomerular Filtration Rate : A Cross-sectional Analysis of Pooled Data. Ann Intern Med (2021) 174: 183-191): EKFC-eGFR = 107.3 / a x With a = 0.322 if Biomarker/Q is less than 1, and a = 1.132 if Biomarker/Q is 1 or more. The equation can easily be interpreted: the leading coefficient equals the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of 107.3 mL/min/1.73m², which is the average GFR in healthy children (aged > 2 years), adolescents and young adults. The average healthy GFR remains constant until the age of 40 years, and starts decreasing beyond that age. The GFR is inversely related to the ‘rescaled’ biomarker. The rescaling factor (Q) is the average biomarker value for healthy people of a specific population (e.g. children, adult men, adult women, white people, black people, …). Biomarker/Q equals ‘1’ for the average healthy person, corresponding with eGFR = 107.3 mL/min/1.73m² (up to 40 years of age). It should be noted that for serum creatinine, the Q-value depends on sex and race. Our hypothesis was that the above equation is valid for any renal biomarker, on the condition that the biomarker is appropriately scaled. We showed that the same equation was able to estimate GFR from 2 years to oldest ages. In the current study we tested and validated our hypothesis by applying the above formula for appropriately ‘rescaled’ cystatin C. MedicalResearch.com: What are the main findings? Is there a practical advantage to the Cystatin-C based equation over eGFR, especially since the sex and race of patients are known?  Response: The main finding is that the above equation indeed works very well for appropriately rescaled cystatin C, with a scaling factor Q independent of sex and race. Our cystatin C based EKFC-equation can thus be used in Black and White patients, men and women, and potentially in patients of mixed ethnicity, in transgender patients, etc. Moreover, the equation can easily be extended to children by defining the scaling factor Q (which will be done soon in future research). This will make the equation applicable for all ages, avoiding implausible jumps at the transition between pediatric nephrology care and adult nephrology care. MedicalResearch.com: Does this equation have a cost advantage/disadvantage? Response: Currently the cost for cystatin C is about 10 times the cost for serum creatinine. In many countries the cost for cystatin C is not reimbursed by the social security agency. We are convinced that the current study might be a game changer. MedicalResearch.com: Is there anything else you would like to add? Any disclosures? Response: There is a variety in the quality of assays used to measure creatinine and cystatin C. One important requirement of our study was that serum creatinine was obtained with assays that were calibrated directly to the gold standard Isotope Dilution Mass Spectrometry method. For cystatin C all assays were calibrated against the international certified IFCC standard. Therefore, the current equation is only valid for high quality measurements of the biomarkers. One other important remark is that we included data from Black people in Europe and Africa, but we did not have high quality measurements of the biomarkers for African Americans. Therefore, the performance of our new cystatin C based equation should still be demonstrated in African Americans.
