octopath being snubbed for best score is especially surreal like even if it isn't one of those big-time mainline game series that are typically showcased at the awards you absolutely cannot deny the unparalleled genius of yasunori nishiki's compositions. especially with the smooth transitions between the day and night osts in the second game and the individual character themes, the soundtrack perfectly encapsulates the scenic, immersive, and stunning atmospheres the game's world has to offer, as well as the intense emotional beats during each of the travelers' stories, and not to mention the godly boss themes, and it absolutely never fails to deliver. octopath is not just a game but a bona fide work of art in genuinely every aspect and it pains me to see it being overlooked like this. team asano features some of the most gifted developers in the industry and god forbid they deserve more recognition.

I'm 5 feet tall with a delicate build, and I work out regularly. No amount of body-building changes the fact that the average man could easily wrap his entire fucking hand around my neck and EASILY choke me to death, or break my wrists or my fucking spine. That terrifies me. It terrifies me than in a real one on one fight to the death, I'd probably be the one dying. I'm thinking of that video where a woman stabbed a guy with a big knife like 15 times, and he still kept fighting, whaling on her. What the fuck are those tiny "self defense" blades supposed to accomplish ? My best bet would probably be to slice his jugular or push my thumbs into his eye sockets, but how the fuck am I supposed to do that if he's restraining my arms. It TERRIFIES me that I can't fight, and even if I could, I'd probably not stand a chance against the average man, and definitely not if there were more than one.

Do any of you know self defense tips that ACTUALLY work? No convoluted moves. If a brute has got me in a fucking chokehold, I won't be thinking about the steps of popular self defense moves. I'll be panicking, losing strength and consciousness. The way i see it, my best bet would be carrying a fucking dagger, but even that requires intense training to learn how to use efficiently.

Yes I did and I'm gonna go into it bc from what I've seen it's this bit that usually makes people understandably get upset at Bruce but here's the thing that people ignore maybe bc they've only watched the movie version maybe bc they forget either way heres the thing Bruce isn't calm in that scene he's panicked he's stressed Jason starts counting down and Bruce is pleading with him to please stop and he looks so upset as he does and he doesn't turn away as Jason gets to one Bruce screams no and throws the batarang - what Bruce does isn't calculated it's pure panic and impulse and just from knowing what type of person batman is I don't think he was planning on seriously hurting Jason but in his panic he made a mistake which highlights just how stressed he was - and even then he probably planned to get Jason medical treatment he wasn't gonna just let Jason bleed out but Joker explodes the whole building and the last scene in the comic is Batman standing alone in the rubble no Jason or Joker in sight

But why didn't Bruce just letJason kill Joker he's done similar things before right just walked away well there's a few differences firstly there's no way Bruce would make it out of the room before Jason shoots Joker, there'll be no question about it that Bruces actions directly resulted in a mans death, and secondly that's what Jason wants Bruce to do, this whole thing is a test for Bruce, a test Jason knows he will fail, it's closure for him, so he can finally put Bruce behind him and Bruce knows this too that if he let's Jason kill Joker then Bruce would lose Jason for the second time

So we are left with this impossible situation with Jason crying as he counts down to jokers death, the Joker laughing bc he doesn't give a fuck, and Bruce backed into a corner with no good options bc Jason's plan was thought out perfectly the one thing he wasn't expecting was for Bruce to panic and accidentally injure Jason bc it was an accident and then before anything else could happen Joker swips Jason's gun and uses it to explode the whole building

Today's thoughts: Can we move on from referring to an "Old Testament God" and a "New Testament God?" While I think noticing the different ways God is depicted/acts in different writings is valuable, the dominant characterization I see of an angry, violent God versus a loving, peaceful one is so surface-level and unhelpful. It misses the love and peace present in the Hebrew Bible, and refuses to deal with the violence and anger in the New Testament. It also implies that God's nature has changed somehow, or that we have to pick one of these gods to worship, something anyone who claims to worship one, infinite God should find issue with. And what does it say about Judaism? If we characterize the God of Jewish writings as solely full of vengeance, we fundamentally misunderstand Jewish worship, theology, and myth.

As we value diverse depictions of God, let's steer away from generalizing and think more about how different people at different times have experienced God and why that might be. What kind of God do you crave? What kind of God scares you? What does it feel like to know that God is everything that we see in the Bible and more? That God is infinite and full of holy contradiction? That there is no "kind of God" (I misled you with the previous thought exercise), but just Them. Every emotion and experience you've ever had, held in the universe.

Go in peace. Feel the unknowing (in the active verb sense) of attempting to experience it all.
