two mins into the new book I’m reading by a male author and there is already sexualization of a woman by two married men 😑
Why I rarely read male authors smh 🤦‍♀️

Travels With Dave: Gainsborough, On The Edge Of Reason Part Two
In 1975, home after my first year at Uni, my friend Dave and I set out on a tour round England and Wales to visit some of the old and new friends we had made, him driving and me at the map and tape machine. Last time we were near Beverley with the strange twins Maud and Mary Shilling. This time we’ve moved further west to the flatlands of Lincolnshire and the Allbright family, whose dysfunction…

Norfolk Reads - Waterland
Finished listening to Waterland by Graham Swift read by Alex Jennings on Audible. This the first of my Norfolk reads, as I try and pass the time before The Running Grave arrives (109 days).
If you'd asked me what I would like from a Norfolk-based novel before I started I would have described this, a wondrous story of family secrets building over centuries, with every triumph and disaster tethered to the landscape - the water and the things that try to control the water, the flatness (but it isn't completely flat either and features are prominent here that would elsewhere be insignificant), the noises that carry, the eels that swim, the wind and the silt and crops that grow magnificently but are sometimes swept away in the floods.
Obviously as an admirer of Dickens and watery places I felt it was missing a convict. But that's my only complaint. 😁
